Quitting again how many times is that now? Joking aside, I do understand where you are coming from to a point, Wurm is a funny old game where the early levels are exciting more so on a fresh server. The hunt for a little land, the trials and troubles of gaining the first few important items, the busy local as everyone tries to make a mark and then the same thing that happens with every new server launch people get bored. You have the Vets, long time wurm players who love the new land, fresh ready to make a stamp, but after a point a lot of them just don't have the heart to do end game grinding yet again and go back to old characters who are many many years old, I think of these people as the holiday crowd ( not a bad thing ) people who just need a break from their main and enjoyed the freshness of the new server, but like all holidays they come to an end and go home. then you have the newbies who at the start find the game hard to grasp at times, but as you pointed out have loads to do, then.... they get the "what do I do now?" I have had messages loads of times from people asking me what they should do next, these players likely are used to theme park games and its hard to adjust at times to the sandbox nature of wurm, you have to make your own content, what to do after building your castle or after reaching your set goal? You also have the "got to get it done crowd" players who play crazy hours , do crazy feats and just quite simply burn out. Some fantastic items and places made by these guys, burn bright but not for long. Then there's the types who I think stick around- the spreadsheet crowd people who love the numbers of wurm, the math the ins and outs of grinding them numbers, every point towards 100 another notch on the belt and then the laidback who find wurm just relaxing, pop on for a couple of hours here and there or when need to hammer the game to get something done, these players sometimes quit for months at a time and then pop back like putting on the favourite pair of slippers. The above is how I see it and is my impressions of the game, is by no means right just my personal views. With regards chat, everyday I log on even with the quiet times, I get messages from people I have met in game asking how things are, we catch up and then tend to do our own thing ( I listen to books / watch documentaries ) while doing some tasks , surface mining comes to mind. I also know a few of my friends chat via voice, its just too hard to text chat when grinding, don't want to waste the sleep powder now. You made fun of me the other night, due to me "jumping between projects" but that's how I have fun in wurm, I work on something for a bit and if it starts to feel like work or gets stressful I put that on the back burner and do something else, I have a list of goals I want to do and if it takes 1,2 or even 10 years to complete it doesn't matter, as wurm is my escape from real life and the stress I have there. After a tough day in real life logging on and doing a little "mindless" mining or digging is just the ticket, I don't have to over think things or worry about my DPS or HPS ( looking at you wow ) I can just relax, go afk when needed, grab a coffee and mine another corner down. I think the point I am trying to make badly there is no right or wrong way to play wurm. One thing I will say, you will be back, wurm is under your skin

@Bloodreina , this isn't intended as recruiting, but have you considered trying on the southern servers? I play both, well actually, I play in the south and have a toon in the north. I rarely find any desire to play in the north. My experience of the "community" there is one of players being rather self-absorbed (sorry if that offends anyone, but that is my experience). Wells and fountains fenced off, people who simply ignore hails, others who tell you off for talking within their local. Complaints of unavailable animals while nobody will take giveaway animals. Prices were breathtaking. I tried all 3 northern pve servers. I can't help but contrast that with my experience on Release. I am in a village where there is a mix of people who work together and people who work alone, there is usually chatter going on in the alliance chat, requests for help are always answered, jokes shared, advice given.

I'm sorry to hear that everyone isn't playing to your playstyle. You could always talk in GL which is always active rather than the freedom chat or why don't you try another server or a fresh toon on SFI to see if that's more your liking before giving up completely. Melody is the smallest island in the cluster and least populated from what I can tell. You make the game what it is - you can't expect us to make it for you. If you truly love it like you said then you'll find a way. Otherwise toodles 👋

Hey everyone! I have this message in draft since a good while, but I kept postponing it because I wanted to make sure that I won't change my mind or regret it. Long story short, I decided to quit the game and since I'm a bit of a drama queen I couldn't do it without letting you know and trying to get my last moment in the spotlight (kidding... kinda :P). Now seriously I'm not posting this (only ) for that last moment in the spotlight, but because I consider that in a world where too many quit silently, having someone leave a feedback about why they did it might help others reconsider their actions, especially since the reason I'm quitting is not game mechanics related, but people/community related. I'm a Steam kid, joining the game when the Northern Freedom Isles were launched, and I have to say that for the first couple of months I had tremendous amounts of fun - there was a living world around me and a lot of people to get involved with and work on shared projects (like building a love tile, finding our first horses, hunt for those reluctant furs for our beds or kill that champ troll that kept pestering one of the neighbors). The freedom chat was really lively, I had tens of people on my friends list (both in game and on Discord) with whom I was talking on a daily basis and I even founded a rather large local alliance that grew even behind my expectations, having at the point when I left it (just because I moved out to another area of the map) over 40 villages and 80 people in it all of them in the same general map area. Then things started to go south. And I don't talk here about the people that quit or moved out when Cadence launched a bit later (because both events were more or less expected to happen). I talk about the people that still play, but which pretty much started to mind only their own business and stopped almost entirely being social (at least towards me). The freedom chat is radio silent for the most part of the day. With one or two exceptions people in my friends list never message me unless I message them first (I honestly can't remember when was the last time when someone in my FL checked out on me to just see how my day was). I tried to meet my neighbors - no luck whatsoever. I tried to start another alliance (not local) - not a single answer in more than a month. I tried to join an alliance - again, not a single answer in a week. Ok, maybe I'm not the nicest person out there. Having an autism disorder and a fair share of hardships going through my life is not easy to be one. But I definitely tried to be nice, friendly, social and supportive with everyone around me (well, maybe except two people). And for the most part I honestly think that I managed to. Still, except people trying to recruit me to their villages and people that wanted to sell me something, I end up feeling almost completely alone. And it honestly s***s, up to the point where it end up being one of my worst (if not the worst) experiences and feelings I had in all the MMORPGs that I played before. And that's why I decided to quit the game (that I still love) and where I'm still heavily involved, with both premium and deed upkeep covered for well more than a year from now on. Now, if it's indeed only me and this all happened because of my fault (a fault I'm not aware of, but whatever) then it's all good and you should just ignore this stupid rant of mine. But, if it's not and it's a general thing, that makes other people quit too, then maybe start considering if you can't do something more to support Wurm than buy your premium and coins from shop. Maybe engage with the other players you see around and make them feel welcomed in this world. It may help make other people stick longer. Just my two coppers... Octavia over and out...

A breath under water spell might work though. Or a Diving Bell. The History of the Diving Bell (scubadivebahamas.com) According to this link: " In 1531 AD a diving bell was used in an attempt to recover relics from a wrecked Roman ship in Lake Nemi, Italy."

A lot of the time, you see archaeology players wandering around with satchels to hold their finds. This is nice and all, but maybe there is a better way... Two items modelled on the alchemy table - A container with a set number of sub-containers (drawers) that can be labelled. These drawers ONLY allow archaeology fragments to be stored; no other items. The items within these containers do not take decay hits, the container itself being the only thing that decays. A large archaeology chest with 20 such drawers and a small one with 5 such drawers - both matching the bulk of the item in terms of space taken and following the same rules as their template items. Extended crafting recipe ("compartments" made using jewellery smithing) with final crafting being made using fine carpentry (30 for small, 50 for large)) The aim here is to create a nice mid-late game item that lets archaeologists travel around and keep all their shards, rather than just leaving mountains of unwanted brick/stone shards lying around.

It is unfortunate that you feel this way. But try looking at this from a different perspective. Not for a game, but for yourself, because it seems like you're quick to blame yourself and feel bad as a result. First, some people are just semi-afk watching something on a second/third monitor while grinding. Tis within the nature of this game. Second, not many people enjoy interacting with people that much. Silent chat may be a detriment to you, but others might just have it collapsed at all times and not think twice about it, meanwhile making you upset. Honestly, coming from modern MMOs sometimes I feel like Wurmians are a bit too talkative, but to each his own. What I can recommend to you is either look for a social game of some kind or look for people to talk to in other places. Good luck.

Combination of 1 month prem and 5 silver is a negative 1.01 euro savings. I think subtext should reflect that, so we know we're getting a good discount Old: 1 month premium time and 5 silver coins (ingame) 15.49 € New: 1 month premium time and 5 silver coins (ingame) 15.49 € You save -1.01 €! This will bring it more in line with the other options in the Wurm Shop!

Evening all! Some of you may know me, I played Wurm Online from 2008 and then more recently Wurm Unlimited. In short after years of playing games, like Wurm, The Sims, Minecraft, Ark etc all the same kind of genres I decided that I'd like to give it a go at making my own. So I want to present the teaser trailer to my new project 'Everstead'. Been working on it for about 2.5 months now and starting to taking shape gradually. Everstead Teaser Trailer FEATURES: -Explore the world of Prosperity and survive in its environment. -Construct buildings to enhance your world and progress from just surviving to thriving! -Collect Prosperity fragments around the world which give a variety of perks to your character. -Manage a variety of simulated player stats (Hunger, Thirst, Energy, Joy, Health etc) So yeah early days and in the new year or towards the end of this horrible one I'm hoping to start doing development logs on my YouTube, be cool if you guys could give it a moment of your time. I appreciate not everyone will like the simulation theme but hopefully I can offer something a bit fresh doing survival with simulation, and trying to offer creative options for players to make their mark on the world. Thanks for your time. Have a safe end of the year! Nytician.

Shame to see you leave, especially if you enjoy the game in the first place. You can always try to hop on SFI and hit up one of the solid communities there - there is a few that is very active and value community and activity together I myself play in the middle of nowhere on xanadu, ive seen 1 person in local the last year. I myself know what lonely is But I did join an active alliance even though they are far away, the chat is going strong. And i've met a couple people that I enjoy talking to. Hope you come back and give it another shot one day

Another awesome slaying from Stan and team! Bad wind isn't a server crossing issue. And the usual dumped out of boats thing isn't new or news. This was one of the busier slayings I've been to, so clearly plenty of people were able to leave home early enough to make it on time, even without the extra 15 minutes grace.

1 month Premium - 7.99 5 silver coins - 6.49 Total-------------------- 14.48 1 month Premium and 5 silver coins - 15.49 Am I missing something, why a 1.01 price discrepancy when buying seperate vs combined options? Is this intended to be more expensive when purchased together? In America combinations are generally the same price or cheaper, maybe EU is opposite?

This is ridiculous. you guys give me another disease every couple of DAYS! If i was sick so much irl i would certainly seek to end my misery permanently. Are we not warriors, craftsmen, farmers, gatherers. An active and healthy lifestyle, right? Not tainted, corrupted invalids. Or is your world here so polluted that it will destroy all life even without the help of trolls and goblins? You're taking all the fun away. i have a lot of animals to groom, milk, sheer, feed, breed, and not enough online time to stand around sick so i don't contaminate them too. Stop wasting my precious minutes! Every time this happens i become more irate and closer to ending my subscription. What is the reasoning behind this "disease" stuff anyhow? Just to kill off my livestock?

just happened again..as I drive a cart.. and player character and 2 horses on the cart align on same tile.. a roll triggers to cause this.. NO other creature was anywhere near me at the time - just the 2 horses hitched to the cart.. and it was moving :X --edit This is somewhat really common to happen now... I got it 3 times in 1-2 weeks...🤬 What is worse is.. it's tied to HUNGER rather than nutrition.. and to cure it .. I need to eat to ~80-90%?????? Than I get in the trouble of being COMPLETELY unable to buff up on any affinity pizzas.. ql90+ food especially multi-ingredient pizzas in that ql range.. fill up hunger bar FAST, because ccfp mechanic and hunger is useless with player being unable to eat once the bar is full.. this just creates another issue. Some will say.. 'use an alt to make yourself puke' - sure... pay 2nd premium to have an alt with 25 weapon skill and tie the 2 characters at all times wherever you travel just so you can fix a bug and circumvent messy mechanics?? This is just some nonsense.. can you provide a solution that doesn't requite people to puke or pay extra premiums, make food useful content.. and fix the common disease triggering effect that happens way too often lately?

Despite game´s age, we have low numbers specially at SFI, and since devs dont seem to care about linking both clusters to bring together the community we need fresh blood to fill our ranks, game feels so empty and dead because of this absurd idea. +1 to any kind of advertisement, i dont care about other games, I care about Wurm.

Let's say you stand completely still . All it takes is one player mounted on a horse to pass by your tile and in that moment the game will roll a die and see if you catch a disease. If you get the message "your skin itches, you feel something weird" (or w/e the message is, I forgot) then you will get a disease. The key point is there has to be at least 3 creatures in a tile for the roll to happen. If you want to get the disease, simply put 5 animals in a 1x1 pen (easy to do ) and stay there afk for 10 minutes. It will happen. Make it off deed and it's almost guaranteed. While on a deed (any deed really) the deed bonus can come into play and cure your disease in the next 10 minute tick. As far as I recall diseases like wounds get 10 minutes ticks. Say you're diseased and the power of the disease is 20. After 10 mins, the game rolls to see your stats and if it goes higher or lower (including being on or off deed)

just got it again... as I MOVE on a wagon with 4 bisons hitched to it..... come on.... MOVING.. wasn't even stopped this time, fix the position of the creatures or give bigger delay for these checks.. whatever somebody have buffed so people can do their journal goal is breaking something, it's way too common to get the status now

+1 In a mine with commanding wagon, no other players or animals present, got diseased In a similar vein, led a horse into a pen to breed with another horse present, diseased instantly. Yes there were 3 on the tile, but pretty ridiculous to get diseased the very moment you walk onto a tile with 2 animals, especially considering it was an enchanted grass tile, on a deed with healing bonuses.
  46. 1 point
Yay, I have now joined the club of the diseased! Yesterday I walked toward the back of my large cart, opened the cart to access the inventory, and got sick. [20:29:42] You cut a seedling from the trellis. [20:30:20] You leave the aged fat Raindance '5M + Healthy'. [20:30:20] You hear bees, maybe you are getting close to a hive. [20:30:40] You scratch yourself. What did you catch now? and then..... [20:44:31] You get a bucket. [20:44:40] You drop a bucket. [20:44:42] You feel a lot better now as your disease is gone. [20:44:44] You get a bucket. [20:44:55] You drop a bucket. fun times. ya know, it wouldn't be half so bad if player disease was an actual mechanic. If I get sick, the first thing I do is drink some herbal tea and stay hydrated... Elderberry (berries and flowers) mixed in foods and tinctures helps buff the immune system... Wrap up in a blanket, get extra rest, double down on chicken noodle soup... But in Wurn, there's absolutely nothing a player can do to help defeat a disease. Either make player disease a game mechanic players can interact with.... or get rid of it.
  47. 1 point
I agree way to easy get diseased while near a cart with hitched horses or embarked , no other animals nearby.

I'm going to -1 this, with the exception that if a third arrow type was to be introduced into the game that did require feathers, it would allow the current system to remain in place. I dunno, call them marksman arrows or something, but leave the current system as it is.
