[23:49:32] You have just received the title 'Damage Control'! it's ogre, 100 repair is finally done. no skill tick since I didn't get one to say I reached 100 in skill tab, no idea why not in the time it took me to reach 100 repair, I got 5 affinities in the skill, and even managed to roll the 5th rank affinity roll twice, much to the confusion of staff members (no 6th affinity in repair sadly) I also beat @PandyLynnto 100 skill, so idk that feels neat time for 100 milling next

Can we have this fixed already? It is very annoying.

Let's not forget the main issue here. We're talking about "fixing" an issue that shouldn't have happened in the first place. The issue is lack of players on Epic. The devs should have been more thoughtful and adapt the server to the new player population status. Uniques can't be killed, rifts can barely get done, it's not fun. It's a mess in fact. I stand by my sentence, players should not be responsible for fixing a broken mechanic or a broken status quo. Also, really what would be the motivation of freedom players to hop on Epic to kill uniques? You can't go back with the loot. At best you might complete a journal goal and that's that.

I voted for other couse I'am torn here. On the one hand, it would help new players to find a place to settle. Wurm is confusing enough for them. On the other hand, it does not exactly fit Wurm idea of doing things on your own, discovery and not being hold by hand. So, mayyyyyyybe it could be only active for the period of other newbie buffs?
  8. 2 points
This is just deed density. Nothing to do with active players, logged in players or alts. The goal is to give an indication on where new players can go if they do want to find free land, as "all the land is taken" is a common misconception

For some reason when I tried to add just clay it wouldn't let me, so I had to re-drop dirt/re-add all biomes. This changes the map slightly (not topography landmasses etc just biomes). If the map above actually has no clay, I confirmed this redone one (Treegarden2) has clay: new files: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1myJw2GvGp9VzpKnhQw6uW5wyLTmKj-3u/view?usp=sharing new biomes:

The motivation for Freedom players to go to Epic would be the adventure. Not all creatures of Epic exist in Freedom, and as funny public slayings are, there are much away from "real fights". When 70 to >100 slayers gather, the unique has a survival time of minutes. Combat wise it is not really satisfying. On Epic it would be a real hunt, where the unique stands some chance too. Freedomers could act as mercenaries for the local population, personally I would not mind converting back and forth monthly, or even faster once a kingdom would be purged so far. Same with rifts. A real hindrance of motivation, as already pointed out repeatedly, is the one way skill transfer. I would not mind an, albeit reasonable, penalty on skill transfer back to freedom (though I fail to see it being crucial, except for a few skills). But the full block of transfer is an abhorrence for many, I am sure. Epic will not be what it once was. The servers are beautiful and challenging though, and it would be a shame to destroy them.

This post is just to share something I recently found out, and which caused frustration before I knew (credit to Evening (CA Channel) for this advice): When you want to move stuff like forges, beds, ovens, crates and so on to upper floors from a bottom floor, Build a ladder. Not a staircase. Not a hole in the floor. ONLY A LADDER WILL WORK. Load your stuff into a wagon and park it directly under the ladder. Go up the ladder, and then embark the wagon from the floor you want your stuff to go to. The whole wagon, animals and all, will move to upper floor where you embarked from (through the ladder). Now ride your wagon around upstairs, and unload your stuff where you want it. When ready to go downstairs again, park the wagon directly over the ladder. Unhitch your animals. Go down the ladder, haul the unhitched wagon downstairs with a rope. Go upstairs again, hitch the animals to your wagon (which is now downstairs) through the hole of the ladder. The animals will appear hitched to the wagon on the bottom floor. This method is great for moving whole wagons full of stuff upstairs, and getting empty wagon down again. On a different note, and in case someone missed this gem: There was a recent change which allows loading full wagons, carts, bsbs and fsbs. You can also drag full drafts and chests between wagons or carts. Great news

As the title says - use the animation used for casting for sermons - even the event message says that [Priest] is brandishing the statuette of [god]. Would be more RPish.

Looks like a version mismatch. Make sure you have the latest mod loader version and the latest wu server version.

I voted yes because it would be nice to have. However, I also feel like it's not the best solution. A simple heatmap can be misleading. Just because an area is green does not mean it's completely unoccupied. In a similar fashion, just because an area is red does not mean it is packed. Some of the coastlines marked red do not have settlements for hundreds of tiles, such as in the southwest of Harmony. If you're willing to display information regarding where deeds are, you might as well go all the way and provide a live map of the servers. Wurm Unlimited does this already which you can see examples of in Sklotopolis and Otherlands. As you can tell from other responses, people are looking for map dumps - not a heatmap.

I'd love this feature, though part of me questions if having it ingame is the right place for it. I mean that'd certainly help newer players, but for anyone concerned about immersion, it might be better off tucked somewhere similar to the MRTG files. My biggest concern, and this isn't really a reason not to do it, is that at least here on harmony, there are still a LOT of inactive deeds, so I'm not sure too well about on other servers, but at least here it wouldn't really be showing you too well about where others are playing, but perhaps, where there is more or less likely to be room to drop your deed.

If this rift is at 8am, then the next one will be at like 10, then the one after that is like 12 and so on, and you can always go to another server if it's too early/late for you. The overall population yesterday at 8am your time is 486, whereas the peak of the entire day was 897, or around 60% or so. You're acting as if it's some ghost town where nobody plays but there's plenty of people that play at those time zones and go to rifts (i know this because celes population is often 3-4x higher than what it normally is when there's a rift during the "undesirable hours"), and "fixing" them by making their spawns more likely to go to higher population times isn't fair to people who play in these timezones. Even now, they slightly gravitate towards more populated times as their rifts get closed quicker unless the offpeak times are filled with stacked toons. If you can't imagine yourself doing 100 rifts in the current setting imagine doing them as someone in an off peak timezone after your "fixes" that make all the rifts in the middle of the night for them lmao

I'm a new player to this game having started when Cadence launched. When I started with very little idea of how the game works, the map feels massive without world shrinking items like Boats, Wagons etc, everything seems to take ages to do, and when you running past deed after deed trying to find a spot to setup I found it to be quite offputting. Now I've got a bit more experience, I have Boats and Wagons, and everything still seems to take ages to do. I do enjoy the exploring element, but I'm very much aware of the fact I'd have probably not bothered to even setup if it wasn't for the fact I was with a group of people who wanted to keep going. I don't think adding a vague heatmap removes too much from the exploration, but it would make the game a lot more friendly towards new players. I'd say not having the heatmap is gearing more towards established players who can travel the map easy, and having the heatmap more suits new players who cannot travel the map so easy (presumably these are the ones more likely to be looking for a deed spot) Edit: Couldn't the heatmap be on a toggle? So people who want to use it can activate it, and people who would rather explore themselves can leave it toggled off? I also agree about the map dumps coming out more often, the community maps are brilliant but only as accurate as the infomation supplied, I know a huge amount of the road network on Cadence for example has not been submitted to the map, so people simply wont know its there looking at the map.

i do see for new players how it would be nice, since they are not to fit for exploring a lot. I know my first time took 3 days sailing around trying to find a spot hehe the map doesnt seem to show exactly where its free, but at least some idea of what area to look in

I really like this idea. Preserving an item could require the player inputted name. Maybe these preserved items would be more likely to generate a fragment when the deed disbands. I see a lot of decor ideas and here is one where the player is able to 'create' their own. Love it! Now if only there was a way to create our own armor skins.

It would be nice to have more information on monthly skins available for purchase in the marks store. Either a GM thread that gets updated or a wiki entry would helpful with a directory of each skin released to date and images of the skin. It would also be nice to know if these plan to be recycled or new every month. With the new servers progressing in skill and availability of high end materials, I think more players will opt to make their own "artifacts" with this feature by purchasing the skins for moon metal weapons or rares. Greater transparency of the feature and a directory will only serve to better monetize the game.

So we have a spell for finding the rock level, very handy in planning mines etc. I purpose we have the same spell but for water level, when some distance from the water edge, in the mountains etc, its really quite hard to work out where the water level is, a simple spell that does the same as mole senses but for water would be a god send in planning. I don't think is game breaking but could be handy to have in our tool box.

Key aspect of Wurm Online is the freedom to do whatever you want, if we put a meta in the small pvp this game has, you are going against the inner Wurm nature. Who would want to play a crossbow pvp game? just to CSGO if you want to shoot someone. This game has enough weapons, devs should remake and balance them in a way they are all viable and fun, instead of a meta which limits the creativity and FREEDOM aspect of this game. Just my 2 copper.

To be honest, Wurm's "afk combat system" could be replaced by almost any other combat system and it would be more interactive than what we have. The big issue with it is the engine Wurm runs on. We'd need actual player collisions, hitboxes and such to have a combat system like Mordhau or Kingdom Come Deliverance. In the absence of coding collisions, then we'd need actual abilities to use in combat that are much more realistic. Think games like Wow that doesn't have player to player collision. We could use things like "thrust", "parry up" "parry down", "tackle", "throw knife" "throw net" , "feign", "riposte" etc as combat abilities to make pvp a hundred times more interesting. As for historical accuracy in games, when it comes to warfare, it's simply impossible. The reasoning behind it is the nature of warfare itself. Humans always wanted to be in the meta-aspect of warfare, aka have the best weapons available. Remember when the terrifying power of the french knighthood was extinguished at Agincourt? For centuries, cavalry was a game changer in warfare, and in one day English and Welsh Longbowmen fell thousands of soldiers. In Wurm, its warfare technology would be situated somewhere around the 11th century (since we don't have crossbows yet). I'm not gonna delve into other anachronisms such as the existence of caravels or other Wurm tech. In such a context, considering we have plate, mail and leather, the dominant weapon should be the hammer, longsword or axe (to break plate, stab it or crush its wearer), the spear (against cavalry charges) and the longbow. Other weapons would be rather pointless. Shortbows were usually weapons used by light cavalry to harass the enemy (see mongol tactics). Clubs shouldn't be discounted either but in Wurm they are not viable (sadly). If we'd apply RL meta to Wurm, fights should mainly revolve around who can use a longbow mostly. And in Wurm you can't use it (for some reason ) if a target is within 10 tiles. Wurm still has many balancing issues. Anyway, TLDR, without collisions, formations are mostly pointless (such as pike and shield), the meta in Wurm cannot be related to RL historical references (look up in history and see that leather armor was pretty much non existant, yet many movies and games portray it as a standard). Do we have gambezons (akatons) ? Nope. Do we have crossbows? Nope. If wurm was historical, crossbows would simply be the dominant weapon in game. We could add more weapons and gear to the game if we wanted to, and I'd support that. But mostly for balancing and diversity reasons rather than accuracy. In RL a gambezon would be the go to armor to start with. There are some beautiful videos out there showcasing how a thick gambezon can stop a longbow arrow or even a bolt.

'Marksmen arrows' could have increased range and/or accuracy while taking more damage. Anyone who's repaired arrows IRL knows that the vanes get damaged way more often.
  47. 1 point
I'm going to -1 this, with the exception that if a third arrow type was to be introduced into the game that did require feathers, it would allow the current system to remain in place. I dunno, call them marksman arrows or something, but leave the current system as it is.

+1 I'm totally loving the Saw Mill and Grain Mill ideas.....I think they should be an Alliance/team build thing like obelisks etc... and these would produce high QL items or mass production of items and that the manufacture of these items dont need to be manually operated, just load the saw mill of grain mill with the raw materials and left to manufacture. This is just an idea and I have no idea on how to implement such a mechanic and if its even feasible, but I'm liking the idea. Additionally as an island owner I would love to see the wagoner mechanics implemented onto the water, so replacing wagons with merchant vessels and using buoys instead of waypoints / cateyes to provide directions for the merchant vessel to carry its wares across the sea from one harbour to the next. I know like me longtime players are tired of building house after house and would like to have more to use their building skills on ..Building structures that would make use of building and crafting both would be a highly embraced IMO. Things like Saw Mills for crafting wooden planks or wood beams from logs, or Grain Mills for our crops. Could be large alliance projects even. Wind , Water powered by streams or ocean .it would require crafting and building could have parts to be repaired etc. Large grain silos would be nice to store large qty of corn, seeds other grains etc. I could see some needing a water tower , I have ran out of water from my well while working on dyes many times ..they would also at a nice feel to villages, even putting deeds name on them as an option. We could mine coal and have coal or wood powered train system that players could build from stations that would work like wagoners but could be used by players to travel and livestock and large items to be moved. Also a lot of times players move from one deed to a new one , many complain it takes forever to move all their items with a wagon making many long trips back and forth .why not allow for wagons to be connected to make hauling a bit easier ..just a couple wagons hitched together would be useful for moving , logging and im sure other times. Contraption for making glass items would be a fun craft, windows and vases and dishes could be added like pottery skill. And last my personal item that i think would be fun is a new skill in barbering . we have the tools for most part with scissors and dyes, a few more added items like chairs and shears and shave cream etc idk if that is ever gonna be possible but it would be a fun skill to try to add into game (Not holding my breathe for it ). Just game is getting stale with nothing new to build or do ..Please help

A lift would b great. I'm even up for making it higher difficulty to build so high level skills have even more value. Would say 60 carpentry. Thick Rope x2, Planks x20, Iron Bars x2.
