COME BECOME A "DRAGON SLAYER" By attending this slaying you will receive: A small piece of White Dragon Hatchling Hide Blood for Salve of Frost (Mixing White dragon hatchling blood with source salt will create a salve of frost.) Title: "Dragonslayer" Location If Anyone is interested in coming over early Dunvegan has offered to allow players to stay at their Inn. Big Thank you to Ruaridh for doing this. I would suggest parking on the water at N18 if on foot so that you can easily access the other slaying. Date & Time: Wanted to have everyone aware of the Public Slaying as I feel all Unique Creatures should be killed as a community rather than for personal gain. I will ask that people not bring all of their alts to the slaying when it happens to prevent lag in the area and also to make sure the rewards are divided evenly amongst the community. Event is scheduled for Next Saturday December 5th at 11 am CST 9AM PST. Location of Event will be posted a few days prior. After this slaying I encourage everyone to hang out on Melody as 4 hours after we slay this Unique we have another public slaying for the Kyklops on Melody! (See Here)This is the perfect way to get both your DragonSlayer & Giantslayer titles on the same day. Thanks, Sheriff

Welcome to my Hamlet's first ever event! It's almost that time for giving and we want to encourage people to do so. "Zuelatek's Hamlet" will be hosting a White Elephant sometime around Christmas. We're going to do our best to bring out all the festive cheer with themed food/drink and decorations. If you have any special requests let us know in a reply and we'll try to fulfill it. Time: Expectations: Bring a gift of at least 20c in value with you to the event. We may turn you away if it's any lower. Location: F24 on Cadence (Top Right). Inland between 3 guard towers. Our highway connects with Sonata. What is a White Elephant? How are we going to run the White Elephant? Reasons why we're running things this way If you have any questions/concerns/whatever just leave a reply and I'll try to check up on this Daily. Otherwise, you can easily reach me at https://www.twitch.tv/zuelatek where I stream Wurm practically everyday or you can DM me on Discord @ Zuelatak#6607

We have 3 club weilder in the humanoid unique club - the kyklop, the troll king and the forest giant... but only one have the right to oakenwood one! Make it fair and equal for all to weild oakenwood instead of the low class birchwood the common troll use! TL:DR; Oakenwood club for all uniques using them! Nota. Some extra love for the goblin leader gear would be nice too... have something a bit unique and not just iron with a blank creator.

So after having the willows on my harbor (one tile out of deed) cut down, I realized that with the influx of new players some common courtesies we take for granted in Wurm may not be known. Maybe if we discuss them here, they'll be more common knowledge.. or maybe it won't matter? Anyway a couple I have thought about: 1. Roads. When building roads it is common courtesy to talk to those in the area where a road is going before destroying terrain. Maybe they have plans already, and you can work together.. 2. Cutting trees in people's perimeter is a big no no, as is any type of terraforming. Let's hear yours..

Interesting that after all the drama the only person banned by the GMs was you? To add a little context to your post you fell out with me because after all the help I give you ( helping you find your deed spot at the start with ruinier, making nails for you as you refused to BS and helping you flatten your land ) I didnt rush back to help you bash a wall down as I was busy, and you went bat **** crazy over it. you didn't have perimeter at the road spot at the time, mad hatter deed did at the bottom of the road, my deed did at the top corner and ruin ridge farm did. you deed was tiny until we decided to leave the area, you came and ripped up the road we had built, making access to ruin ridge farm impossible, GM's told you to fix it too. After the whole of local mass reported you , you ended up being banned after refusing to follow the GM's instructions, if you weren't the problem how come you got a ban? You stole, you lied and you caused drama. so lets not try to change history eh>? you are by far the most toxic player i have met in any online game by a long shot and even now people complain about the way you go on! Even on the new servers people talk about the nastiness you cause in game, you must be so proud. the 200 slope down was on my deed to make a mine, after you tried to fence off access to the public mine which again a GM told you to stop it. I moved servers as I didn't like the fact you kept saying your were going to kill yourself if you didn't get your own way and the fighting you did with many different people in local every day, and I decided it just wasn't worth the time and effort anymore, so now I just like to point out when your changing history to make some kind of point which you do often when in fact you do the very things you complain about! But I will pull you up when you lie about the past ! But on the plus side this game tends to have a really good group of fantastic players and the bad apples are few and far between, you are the only person who I "bumped heads" with out of everyone I met, so sometimes just cutting your losses and moving on is the right thing to do, as I haven't looked back and to get back on point common courtesies does go a long way and really doesn't take much either.

Yeah i'm getting it all the time hunting, just riding around on a horse i got diseased with nothing else on the tile, and then it clears up while still riding the same horse. Disease does absolutely nothing for a player other than an annoying popup message so idk why they even bothered re-enabling it, just remove it from the journal and the game lol

Correct. You paid for a bigger buffer zone between your deed and the next possible or actual deed site, at a cheaper rate than you paid for the on-deed tiles which are yours. The settlement contract/resize settlement window are pretty clear about what it is you're paying for. If you reject the notion that you should have pay for anything you don't own, it's easy enough to just accept the 5 tiles of free perimeter and leave it at that. Once again, though, a thread about common courtesies seems to have been derailed back to your own personal bugbear of the moment.
  9. 3 points
Sorry, but no, a perimeter does not belong to the deed. It is a buffer designed to keep a minimum separation between deeds as a specific no-mans land. I does not belong to anyone. Nobody has any more right to a perimeter than anyone else. A lot of the "perimeter wars" occur as much because deed-holders can't accept that they have no authority over what people do in perimeters as because of what people do in perimeters. That said, a perimeter is by its very nature close to a deed, so courtesy would be to talk to the deed owner before making changes to perimeter tiles around their deed. The deed holder is the closest neighbour and has put down roots, so deserves some consideration. It isn't about ownership and who gets to tell who what to do, but about finding the best way to do what you want without interfering with what others want to do.

This ^^^ Also, I have observed over the years, (since early UO, late 90s), that the internet and online games tend to make a person's true character shine through. This is my opinion and I'm sure some will disagree, and some may even be insulted if I hit a nerve I guess. *shrugs* Sorry, but if the shoe doesn't fit, then don't wear it. It's not always true, I know, but I've come to believe it's true in the majority of cases. I think kind, helpful people in game where they're anonymous and don't have to be nice, and who are always that way consistently, are likely to be that way in RL. Those just putting on an act for devious purposes usually can't maintain that persona consistently or for long, and eventually it comes out. And those who act towards others in ways they probably never do in RL, (you know, like when their nose is within reach of the other party's fist), are very likely showing their true colors. Trying to have a conversation about "common courtesy" is a nice idea but unfortunately courtesy seems to no longer be very common in today's society, especially on line. I applaud ChampagneDragon's effort though.

In The Game you can Transfer Ore from a Pile on the Ground /or in a cart or wagon Straight into a Smelter until the Smelter is Full. But if you Transfer from BSB or Crate into a Smelter you can only do such based on what you can only Physically Carry I think it would be beneficial for all players if we could just Simply Transfer ore from a BSB or Crate into a Smelter Just like you can from a pile. Even if it does the "timer" Like when you transfer from BSB to Crate and Vice versa.

My views on this should come as no surprise to anyone at all. After all, I am Amata - the bleedin' heart, tree-hugging, flower-crown-wearing, hand holding, bonfire dancing, let's-all-sing-together, socially progressive, shoulda-been-Canadian instead-of-American, Fo worshipping, hippie earth mama of Independence. ✌🏼️🌱💜 I am just pleased as punch to see that there is finally a topic that draws together the incredibly unbelievable united support of myself, Ekcin, Trickster, Kelody, Zexos, Anthony, and - gods help us all - Platyna. If I may, to the best of my ability, here is a collective manifesto regarding community & courtesy in Wurm: This isn't a single-player, "user is sole authority," game. It's a multi-player, "community & building," life-sim game ... interpersonal interactions with other players are inherent to game play. Just because an activity is not specifically breaking A Rule, doesn't make it good. Louder, for the players in the back - just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should. Rules - especially unspoken community guidelines - should be accessible in game for those that don't use the forum; planted signs and active communication are key. If an action is going to affect the local community, make a conscious effort to discuss it with everyone nearby first The higher the impact of your actions, the more you should communicate about it. Perimeter lands specifically exist to prevent contiguous deeds and to ensure resources are kept accessible; perimeter "rights" are neither afforded to any player, nor excluded from any player. Perimeter usage is entirely a matter of interpersonal courtesy, not anyone's "right." "Deed It or Lose It" is cautionary advice for deed owners to approach property and safety proactively. "Deed It or Lose It" is not a viable excuse for poor behavior and/or actions serving self-interest at the detriment of others. Serve self-interests in the vast wild spaces of Wurm, and play nicely with your neighbors. What constitutes "beautiful" or "pleasing" is up to a player's opinion. What constitutes "constructive gameplay" is up to a player's judgement. No individual player's opinion or judgement is a higher priority than any other player's opinion or judgement. Any space not specifically on-deed must be used by consensus of Local players. When in doubt, ask and then collaborate. In public lands, there are signs that an area is being actively used. Lumber trees in orderly rows; orchards being tended; decorative elements like flowerpots, hedges, and fencing, as well as any built structure in decent repair. Being on a deed''s perimeter is also a sign. The list of signs of life goes on... Learn the signs, and err on the side of respecting others' efforts to cultivate well-maintained public spaces. Whenever possible.... If you cut down a tree please replant it. If you gather a resource, please make use of it or give it to another to use. Have a care for community assets like roadways, highways, tunnels, canals, and public resource nodes (mines, orchards, fishing spots, docks, etc). Treat others as you would be treated. This applies to their environment as well. If you don't own it, as much as possible, leave it as you found it. Polite, considerate, and respectful conduct makes life easier for everyone. But always remember: there are people here who don't share your values, and they will always take advantage if they can.

*anything taken without exploiting isn't breaking any rules* While this is true, taking something that does not belong to you and which clearly has an owner is stealing. Not against the rules, but still stealing. I think the personal attacks on this thread are also definitely not appropriate in a "common courtesies" thread...

1/1000 spawns as one of these rare variants instead (only done through natural random spawn, not "spread" spawn or cast induced spawn). When a flower is rolled as rare during a normal harvest, one of these is awarded instead with the appropriate rarity modifier. They look distinct from regular flowers (new textures). Why add them? Because they're something nice for people to look out for when exploring, and a nice surprise for players out picking who roll a rare. I find it sad that everyone I know is too busy to do something spontaneous and fun like this. (If we're not having spontaneous fun in Wurm, what's the point? But that's a topic for another day..). Currently, my dream in Wurm is to have a pal with whom I can meet up every autumn to look for white-dotted flowers, wild beehives, abandoned deeds, and maybe even dragons. I live on Xanadu but can travel to other servers. Is this an unattainable dream?

O.o i think i figured out my problems, i was using a router here and my gf using her pc as well. While looking at the resource meter on the Network, i went in there and noticed she was watching some videos on facebook. Now i got her off of it and see what it was doing on the resource meter, everything was back to normal. Things like Netflix and watching or even downloading through a router can be tricky if you dont know what they are doing, if split more than one directions. I spoken to her, hopefully she wont do this while i play Wurm lol. Do that on another time, when i am not playing Wurm. Its been strange lately and didnt realize how could have effect me on Wurm and what she doing in the other room.

Hmm....Yeah, I know that if there was to be alot of guidelines to follow or even rules to follow that I would feel far to restricted in how I act for example. One of the common things that I get told is to clean up after myself. Like when cutting down trees or even when mining rocks. I will either leave it alone to decay away or clean it up at some point. But there can be this feeling of having to clean up the area to make it look "Nice" and "Tidy" Why does it have to always look nice and tidy? Why can't things just decay away? If resources don't get used before they decay away then, that is okay as well. Things in wurm grow back after some time and reform. The majority of it, I would say. ----------------------------- Here is a story from when I was more new: ------------------- In other words: I will do things that come under common courtesies but I might not always go along with them. I might also look out for ways to get things done in a more easy manner. Or even to help me claim land, resources, buildings...etc. I got a big area in the village because I just went and started to use it and no one else was using it. I did ask if no one was using it but after that confirmation, I then started my move in. Sometimes that mindset/playstyle can work in your favour and sometimes not. Just got to read the situation and see what is going on. Then make the best judgement in the moment sometimes. I like to be friendly and help out others but I also like to help out myself to and sometimes I can't be bothered with doing the "polite" thing.
  29. 1 point
I would like to propose a couple additional common courtesies: - We should understand that different people may define the concept of courtesy differently, and respect others’ right to think differently than we do. - We should avoid using the concept of courtesy as a vehicle for our attempts to control other people’s behavior by labeling a certain way of behaving as courteous, and implying that anyone who doesn’t behave in that way is not courteous (or worse). In other words: Just because you choose to do things a certain way in the game (e.g. you replant trees, bash stumps, make non-zigzagging paths, consult the neighbors before you do any damn thing at all, etc.) DOESN’T MEAN OTHER PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE TO DO THESE THINGS AS WELL, and it doesn’t mean that if they don’t do them, they are uncourteous (or worse). This whole “courtesy” thing is starting to seem a bit too much like some kind of insidious social control experiment. It’s weirding me out frankly.
  30. 1 point
And because we so fundamentally disagree on this, imagine what happens in-game if one of of steps on the other's toes. Resolution is almost impossible. The rules/wiki/explanations are quite clear on the purpose of the perimeter - to ensure that there is always a right-of-way that doesn't belong to the deed. If, with that explanation, some still hold that the perimeter is part of the deed's holdings, disagreement is almost assured. The mechanism of allowing "extra" perimeter to be paid for does only add to the confusion. 5-tile buffers always happen, but the bought buffer should be a separate kind of permission set. The 5-tile is "public access" and should remain so. The extra bought buffer should be a "set back" - meaning it is owned but cannot have buildings on it. Unfortunately it isn't at the moment, but a system where you pay for what you and you get what you pay for would help alleviate arguments, I think.

I think Libila is strong, but I think it's an advantage that we have so many, not Libila itself. Regardless, not speaking for HotS, but I wouldn't pull spell rework above a lot of other issues the server has. I think if you surveyed majority of people who quit the server their reason would not be because Libila is too strong. Remember this server has 400+ in the first month, now we average around 150. A lot of people posting here are thinking about how to change the outcome of a fight and what benefits them, their ideas are not reflective of bettering the server, providing incentives to new players, and making it easier for new players to get involved. You could easily argue the idea of "who has the most barded horses?" plays just as big of a factor as which sides as the most healing priests. It's strange to me though that no ones talking about barded horses here though, but my guess is you would call that a strategic decision but for some reason having many priests are a mechanical advantage. Okay. So many fights are ending with one side still entirely mounted. Just like having one kingdom have a lot of priests, it's forcing players into a certain meta to also spend so much time investing in armor for horses, and players then have to train up a certain weapon type to even have a chance to de-horse someone. I personally don't think it's that fun sitting in a wave of barded horses and barded backup horses having to spend so much time taking people off a horse just to finally fight a player. I like the new HotA changes and depot because they all give more reason to go out, but in my opinion the depot should be for loot, and HotA (as someone else suggested, not to steal your idea) should be for kingdom buffs. Right now the reward doesn't outweigh the risk to go into enemy lands and try to find HotA battlecamps. You get such a small amount of moon metal and really it's going to one single person or divided across a larger group so everyone comes out with such a small amount they can't use it. I would increase the amount of loot at the depot and increase the loot timer to 10 minutes. I would rework the HotA to be as someone else suggested and provide kingdom wide buffs. Each battlecamp could give something different, but for the entire kingdom. 10% to skillgain, 1 CR, 10% stronger tower guards, 10% faster favor regeneration. It would give more kingdom-wide advantages, and even if HotA had yet to be won by one side they will still have a bonus from just one or two camps. Once once kingdom caps 4, they keep all 4 buffs until the next HotA, all other kingdoms lose the buffs. Beyond all that though, we still don't appeal to a broader audience, which is always the same problem. We can make the game as balanced as people think is fair, changing spells, HotA, armor types, but even if the game is perfect by JK, MR, and HotS' standards most players aren't into the idea of a full-loot system, and getting crushed by players who have been around for months now. I am not against reworking spells, but if I had the developers prioritize anything, it would be ideas that help encourage players to try and get started on Defiance. A curve for new players, indicating when new players don't yet have 20 Fight Skill, Defiance-only rewards that could transfer over, livestream via the Wurmonline twitch channel, a trailer, sharing out some of our PvP videos on the Twitter.

I had this issue when highways were introduced. Soon after them, someone, completely random with god's mission or haunted mind just came, and built a highway next to our area. Beside the fact i never ever wanted (back then) to be connected to any highway and I prefered to stay out of this system. That person also completely destroyed old forest paths and roads, shortcuts that I've been using for years and the ones I prefered over stupid highway. Everything without asking, anything. So yeah some people have hard times figuring out, that not everything what's new is welcomed by all others. But what my main point is, I won't ###### about it to any GM, moderator etc. I didn't ###### about it on forum either. It wasn't my land, and even if I've build a road years ago it still wasn't mine, so I can't just simply cry all over if I didn't secured my nearest area by deeding or fencing. It's not on my deed, not on my perimeter I did nothing to prevent it- so I'm not in position to complain. You may say that Deed it or lose it is not a rule. But it has more common and practical sense than many of GMs written, artificial, imaginary forum rules. We all try to be generaly nice, that's the way Wurm's community lives, usually without any reminders. We can live based on our trust in community for many, many years, but we can never be absolute sure that nothing bad happens. That's why, even common sense should give us a hint to secure stuff we don't wanna lose.

Once more to the "Deed it or lose it"-Taliban: "Deed it or lose it" is not a rule "Deed it or lose it" is not a right to vandalize or take "Play nice or we rip your heart out" is a rule Deed it or lose it is a warning to those having precious stuff off deed outside houses, also a warning to squatters that their house protection is only limited (could land in perimeters). Those fervently advocating that "Deed it or lose it" is carte blanche to play rudely miss the point.
  41. 1 point
No, those are the same thing. A perimeter is open space. In fact it is protected as open space. The deed is yours. The perimeter is not. Declaring that it is yours simply because it is next to what actually is yours is as much being a bad neighbour as cutting down the whole of an obviously maintained timber farm. I haven't had this issue with anyone yet, but from everything I have read in the fora, it seems to be opposite. There are no end of complaints about perimeter trees being chopped and GMs saying "deed it or lose it". I recall a couple of threads where GMs have specifically said that cutting off-deed trees does not constitute griefing. All we can do is rely on the rules as written, just as the GMs do.

Somewhere deep in the German country side, a hamster wearing an engineering hard hat is see running towards a server farm control room scream at the top of his lungs... "The Servers are Down! The Servers are Down !" The supervisor on duty picks up the little Power Wheel hamster, and patting it to help calm it down says "Let me look into this". First thing he checks at the Wurm Servers are food stations for the hamsters who power Wurm On Line. "Sausage flavored edam, Check!". "Viking flavoured edam, Check!". "Water trough, Check!". Then he checks the power cords from the hamster power wheels to the servers. They appear to be okay. Then he checks the surge suppressors, just in case one the hamsters got too energetic and popped a circuit breaker. They appear to be okay. Then from one of the server cabinets he hears muttering and giggling. Seizing the handles he throws open the doors to the server cabinet. To his horror is he sees a whole bunch of nasty, dastardly Gremlins and their notorious leader GLITCH!! The supervisor slams the server doors and runs screaming for his life.... "We have Gremlins in the Servers!" The power wheel hamster looks up from where he is cradled in the supervisors arm and says "Maybe it is time to contact the Dev's?" The supervisor, trembling with fear, locks himself in the control room and as he reaches for the Red Hot Line telephone, he says to the Power Wheel hamster "Good Idea my friend". SO to all, who like the teller of this Tale, are waiting patiently around the world for Wurm On Line to come back up, may this story teller suggest trying a book. Yes, unlike a computer, you will have to move the book back and forth and up and down to make the words pass in front of you eyes. Books do not auto scroll. But have faith, the Dev's are working on it.

Memories of Wurm From the body of the fallen We shall craft an unholy grail From the skull of thy enemy To which We shall pour your blood into. Casting unto it With the will of fire And the force of sand We will make wine. With this we will raise the grail And toast to the legacy The legacy of Mol Rehan The legacy of Fire and Sand. From the unholy grail We pity the bones of our enemy And leave a reminder To the lands of Chaos, Enjoy your victories Drink to your success Relish your battles For like a shadow Looming forever large A memory remains Of lands of sand. Sleep well little ones In your makeshift kingdoms One day with no warning The fire may return. With it your walls will burn The lands left scorched The skies darken with ash. You see an end, Mol Rehan sees a beginning. if you enjoy this I’d be willing to post more poetry. I’ve been writing for the last 5 years and have amassed a rather lengthy portfolio of poems. Some good some just okay I suppose. Anyways I hope you enjoy this one.
