We take cheating very seriously here at Wurm Online. This is a community focused game and we do not tolerate bots or macroing. If you see anyone offering any cheats for Wurm Online, ignore them, they will just get your avatar banned from the game, or worse, they are simply infecting you with malware or the like! Wurm Unlimited Modders, we do not allow WU mods to interact with Wurm Online. Please keep that in mind. We want everyone to have a good experience here and we will go after anyone trying to cheat. The following is a few excerpts from our rules. The full rules may be viewed here. https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/123123-wurm-online-rules/ Macro Definition: A macro is any software/hardware that automates the sending of actions to the game server without user interaction and is not permitted. A ) Key locking (IE weighing down a key on your keyboard) is not permitted. B ) Multiboxing (automated sending of actions to more than one client at the same time) is not permitted. Attendance required: Make sure to attend your game session when performing actions. If you use keybinds and send actions that finish often, make sure that your actions have desired effect before starting a new queue in case you watch TV or do something similar that steals your attention. When performing actions that you start more seldom and take a long time to finish (such as fishing or training shields) you still need to verify that you have a valid target now and then when starting the action which should be no problem. In case we notice that you are not attending the game and express prolonged robotic behavior where your actions have no effect you risk being banned for automated play. This will of course not happen when playing normally or being afk. You also have to make sure to respond to any popup questions that may occur due to such perceived automation. Punishment: First offense - Permanent avatar ban. Second offense - Loss of all avatars/accounts and permanent ip ban. - Penalties for macro abuse may be applied at any time pending GM review, even if you have discontinued abusing a macro at time of penalty. Use of the 'G' keys on a G series keyboard, mouse, or other similar product is permitted to send multiple actions simultaneously (without any default, built-in, or added delay timings) in order to fill your in game ACTION QUEUE provided you do NOT use any sort of repeat function. Cheating Definition: * Obvious abuse of any exploit, bug or other method of gaining skill/items that is not as intended. (macros are covered by the rule above) * Sniffing game communication data, trying to hack the server, or altering the client in any way. * Using any tool that directly interacts with the Wurm Online client or with the network communication to enhance game play. * Connecting to the Wurm Online game server with anything other than the official client. * Gaining champion points outside of normal PvP. (example: Draining your own or a friends deeds, or killing avatars provided only as a service for champion points.) Punishment: Varies on a case by case bases including permanent ban and loss of skills. - In the specific case of champion point exploitation all avatars involved will be banned and their deeds disbanded. Bugs & Exploits If you find an exploitable bug, you are required to report it to /support. A ) Non-exploitable bugs should always be reported in the Maintenance Buildings section of our forums. B ) Exploitable bugs should be reported to a Game Master via the /support ticket system in game. C ) PVP activity will not be interrupted by Game Master's unless a bug is deemed critical or game breaking by multiple GM's D ) Game Masters will not respond to /support tickets concerning PVP activity that they are participating in on their player avatars. If you are affected by a bug that prevents your ability to play on your avatar, or you have lost items or skills, contact /support in game. Game Masters can provide temporary solutions or instructions while the bug is evaluated and submitted to the development team for correction.

Kinda sucks tho, this kinda seems good, it would encourage pvp players to go over to pve and make a place to skill gain or the pve to come over to pvp to get skillgain, this could encourage different groups to go between server like once or twice a week to use up their sleep bonus and maybe united the two communities a little more and help the game flourish. This was stated to be unintended by the devs, but I don't see it as a bad thing. @Retrogradeyou accidentally have a system in place that encourages people to go between the two servers actively.

Yep, I was lucky enough to get hit by lightning while standing on a bulk storage bin. The bulk storage bin did not survive the encounter. Event log didn't have any lines relevant to the bulk storage bin but it vanished from my sight. I thought it was quite funny, some of my fellow villagers did not agree. Ahahahaha I have an image of the event log and what it did say: [17:12:05] Mind speed increased by 1.0000 to 20.5500

a few different people in my pvp group are making deeds on pve servers so they can grind on both because of this feature. it encourages playing on both servers instead of just staying on 1. a more interconnected community and meeting new people will give the game a more friendly feel. for the first time ever today i spent 3 hours on a pve server grinding and talking with people who i never would have talked with otherwise. i dont see any benefit to the health of the game by removing this feature, it gives the pvp players reason to dip into the pve side of things and the pve players to dip into pvp. more activity all around shout out to my new mining buddy munster

For saccable things, when using the details mode, show favor given by saccing, toggle in settings for it if you really care about it or something idk, or maybe even when hovering over the altar say how much favor is in it currently

I got the impression that it was less that they wanted that specific spot, then that they were against F2P players having an undeeded homestead. The "official" stance to my understanding is, unpaid homesteads are allowed but they are risky because another person could deed over your work. Is that person deeding over an a-hole? Probably if he deeds there ONLY because he is upset about a free player building there, and wouldn't have deeded there except to "teach them a lesson". It's a little jerky but it is legal to deed over them. "Deed It Or Lose It" is the wurm mantra. Remember, some of them may be people not sure yet whether to invest money into the game, especially with lag, It may be they are giving it a month free and then deciding. Or ... it may be that they lost their job due to coronavirus, have an eviction notice on their IRL apartment, had their grandfather die of COVID-19 in the past month, and being able to play Wurm for free is the only bright spot in their life right now. We really don't know anything about other people's circumstances. Remember, even F2P players "add to the game" simply by being here. Other players -- paying or not -- are the best "free" content in the game. They cost developers almost nothing and they keep other players here who CAN and WILL spend money as long as the game has an active and happy playerbase. Free to play players are an integral part of the community. Deliberately chasing them all away as "damn freeloaders" only puts Wurm right back into a bad state of game, where people are leaving because people are leaving, and the Steam launch was in fact advertised as a "free to play' game, not as a "free limited trial" game.

My first "deed" was a 5x5 hedged area that I lucked upon ... had a forge and a bed!!!! Still took me a couple of days to find iron near my spot that wasn't a death trap to access. And a bit over a week to realize that that was NOT "my deed" at all and that "deeding" involved a process (buying the deed paper back then) and certain mechanics. If in that first couple of days someone had expelled me with a leeter-than-thou "deed it or lose it", odds are 50-50 regarding whether i'd have found a new spot or a new game altogether. Time to shine, Wurm community. Or rather, time to decide: - Be decent about it, if you REALLY want the spot, talk to the newbie first. Or alternatively, deed over it, but help the guy find an equally good spot. Or alternatively, be damn cool about it and let the newbie hang around 'til it can cart up and explore more safely. Edit: Either way, a quick 2-minute standard "Why deeding is beneficial" explanation is definitely worth doing. OR - Be the elite! Pour all your elite scorn upon the non-elite scum who were not born knowing everything about Wurm, expel their lowly hides from the lands of the elite! Then start another thread about how Wurm is dying and the population is so low and spread thin that it feels like a one player game.

Someone put an effort to shape this dirt up, so if you don't like it put an effort to shape it down. IRL if you buy a lot and you don't like what previous owner did, you just demolish/terraform, you do not call the president to make it how you want it to look.

All structures, even bridges, decay if abandoned. I am an explorer and a scavenger, one of Wurm Urbex (Urban Exploration) people and I think we all wouldn't appreciate any "automated clean-ups" of abandoned deeds, I think archaeology people wouldn't either. Not to mention that one person trash is other person treasure. 🙂 What other people abandoned is fun to explore, you can get nice items there, or nice hints and ideas how to build own deed. While writing this I visited 165 deeds, countless abandoned ones, I did 4898 km, and considering I am playing only 93 days, it is 52,66 km daily, Xanadu circumference is about 128 km, so it is like I ran around Xanadu every 2,25 days, to make a long story short - it would affect my and I think not only my, game play negatively significantly. The fact that nothing lasts forever in Wurm was even shown on trailer - as a decaying, abandoned place that one was once teeming with life and it is the advantage of the game not a problem.

Sounds like an interesting idea, however I would bet that the reason mounts, hauling, etc are behind prem is to entice users to subscribe. Being able to retain the mounts and hauling after premming once is actually a pretty good deal in my opinion. That said, I'm fairly new to the game and I don't have an issue paying for a sub.

As has been said already, it's worth at least trying to talk to the tent owner, especially if there's evidence that they've been there a while (pen, fields, terraforming, etc). Although the servers can sometimes feel a bit crowded, there is plenty of space on all of them, so just go a little further before you drop your deed, and a bit of playing nice and not ruining someone else's experience really doesn't cost you anything.
  14. 2 points
This is due to server polling being lagged - same as why sleep bonus lasts longer than real time.

As Friedrich above has mentioned, the near biblical experience I partook in when donning the Armor and Weaponry for the first time almost robbed me of my reason....not only that, but I felt an almost overwhelming need to turn myself in to the mods for robbery, as surely there was not a chance that I had acquired these goods for the the amount of silver requested... Excellent service, communication, and unbelievable turn around time for the sheer amount of random stuff I requested. 11/10

I can attest to the absolute wonder that is working with this mercantile entity. As soon as I put my armor on, a choir of angels sang over my shoulder, three dragons knelt before me, and a dancing cherub presented me with a golden spoon. The armor itself shines like the eyes of a beautiful young maiden in the blush of first love, and the tools enchanted by same practically lecture me on better technique while I use them. All for prices that even a charity kitchen would scoff at! Order Honeywood today, and Honey, you wood do no better. HUZZAH!

A solution would be to have a window pop up when you drop your tent warning you about claiming lands with tents, similiar to how you are warned about thievery when you drop an item for the first time. This warns them beforehand, so people shouldn't feel bad deeding over their tents.

I think most of us started playing the game without a deed at some point. Remember, there are a lot of newbies out there at the moment and they might not know about deeds and the "deed it or lose it" mantra yet. I have a neighbor who did not know how to plant a deed and of course he just put his tent down and started mining and terraforming - that's what the game is about. Find a spot you like and settle. And before you can build a house, you need to skill up and gather ressources - so a tent is all you have to store your stuff in at first and to respawn at a specific location. I don't think they expect to own the place, they are just playing the game.

Let's not bring in a negative reaction (it's no fun to receive these). The 'like' Heart adds + one to the poster's forum reputation counter, whereas I believe the Cat makes no change, so if you like something you read - use a 'like' Heart - lets keep things positive!

It actually benefits both clusters more then it would be a hindrance. just lower the overall sleep bonus's the GM's give to like 1-2 hours

100% agree with fireheart, it keeps both servers more active
  28. 2 points
Yes, it is a thing now. Many of the players on the northern isles are dropping tents, terraforming, etc, claiming land, especially along the shores. I rode past them, but there were some spots I *REALLY* wanted to deed that had a tent, and sometimes a bit of terraforming. I moved on. I deeded in the middle of nowhere, for the first time not being near water. I figured if I don't like it I can always move. I've done it a few times in the past
  29. 2 points
Two more notes, mostly for pvp: Gravestones appear below water; this means its entirely possible to miss them being there and not being able to recover corpses. Please make them appear at the top of water (like corpses). Probably affects both servers Shield skill gain is way too slow; as far as I understand, shield skill is gained from blocking creatures that are not too easy to block (blocking attacks often in combat) and not too hard (barely blocking in combat), but more importantly, the damage blocked determines the skillgain. Also, you only gain exp for blocking a creature for the first 15m of combat. So, while that might work at 50+ shield skill where you can tank trolls and whatnot, it makes early skill abysmal, as there are no creatures you can safely block that actually grant a decent amount of skill per tick. Please remove the "damage dealt -> skill amount' as the rest of the system already works fine to prevent pentraining and such. It's extremely silly that i can gain fightskill and weapon skill many times faster than I can shield skill.

Think of it as opening another server on another MMO, nor another zone. The goal is to allow organic skill and economy growth, with new players being able to progress through the natural server growth as opposed to being thrust into an ultra developed world. Xanadu had high skilled players joining it quickly and soon all feeling of exploration and growth was lost as the massive deeds with castles and cities were popping up, canals were bring broken through at record speed due to high mining and enchanted picks, and priest casts. A fresh start with fresh players allows people to experience that feeling of conquering the land that you had when you started 11 years ago. This is why we want to keep it separate, I hope that helps explain things.

omg, this entire line of thinking is erroneous! it rests on a faulty premise. (1) there ARE NO "steam servers" There are only Wurm servers. There is one Wurm Online launcher that signs you in & takes you to your servers. There are 2 ways to access the launcher. One is directly from a link on your PC that you downloaded from the WurmOnline website. The other way is by signing into your Steam account, going to your library, and clicking the game link "Play" that will.... open the WurmOnline launcher. The exact same one, for the one, unified game that everyone is playing. (2) Old Characters Old characters, made before a steam access point, have not changed at all. Use the WO launcher to sign in as your character & play the game. Don't like where you are living? BUILD A BOAT AND MOVE LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. Since WO launched new servers at the same time as they launched the steam connection, "old characters" are also automatically part of the Southern Isles in the Freedom Kingdom. Any - ANY - characters made in WO now & going forward go to the same tutorial server (Golden Valley) and are all equally provided with the chance to chose a PVP life or a PVE life - and whether that life will be in Epic, Freedom's Southern Isles, or the new Northern Freedom Islands. (3) North & South Right now, for many practical reasons, there are rocky waters and magically-influenced storms in the seas between the Northern Islands and the Southern Isles, making all the shipping routes too dangerous for passage right now. North and South are not connected, and we play with that until told otherwise. But if you want access to the Northern Islands, you - like everyone else - can make a new character to go explore the new lands. There are ways to help each other move silver from your in-game money satchels to a new character in the North, much that it will help you up there with no economic infrastructure set up. In Wurm, all things are possible, it just takes time and effort. You can use BOTH the link directly to the WO launcher and the link via Steam to create a new character... just be aware that characters are linked to which ever method you pick. "Old" character A made while using a direct link will always need to be accessed via the direct link, while you might decide to make new character "B" after signing into Steam and connecting to the WO launcher that way. Character B will always need to be accessed via the Steam connection. Can I explain why that's how it's set up? Naw, y'all, I just play here - but there has been extensive Q&A with the community leading up to now to explain all of these things. If you haven't been paying attention, that's on you, not the devs, not the GMs, not the volunteers currently working their butts off, and certainly not on Retrograde. (4) Why bother with Steam? Since there aren't "steam servers" AND either type of connection leads to the exact same launcher, AND any new character has equal opportunity to settle on any island from now on.... What's so special about Steam connections? ... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. If - and only if - you already have a Steam account, and if - and only if - you want to be able to have access to Steam chat and your Steam friend's list, and Steam points while playing WO - then - and only then -does it make sense to use the Steam connection to play WO from now on. • If your main is an "old" character and you don't want to start and alt or start all over with a new main... stay with the WO launcher you've always been using • If you want to explore the Northern Islands, just to see the sights but not necessarily to settle there, just make a freebie alt and pick the new islands and go on a brief vacation from your main in the South. • If you have been thinking about creating an alt, maybe a priest you've always wanted - now might be a fun time to start it. BUT you have to be aware that we have no estimate if / when the storms will subside and our boats will have passage between the North & the South. • If you have Stream, and you want to be connected to Steam while you play WO from now on, I'm sorry - but, yes, you will need to make a new character while running Steam and "start again." That's just the way it goes down. You have the freedom to decide if it's worth it to you. (5) Yes I am a B-word. Sorry if I'm being super snippy right now (notsorry) - but I'm seeing one of my favorite games (WO, duh) getting review bombed on Steam as we speak - mostly from disgruntled ex-players or from current players who didn't pay attention to any of the info that we've had access to for the past, idk, month. I created a Steam character just the other day to go explore the North just for fun - and I cannot tell you how many new players (or old players who have just been living with their head buried in the steppe) who are simply standing around in the tutorial area begging for someone to hold their hand. That's not Wurm, it's never been Wurm, and the WO devs, GMs, and volunteers are swamped. Most of their questions could be easily answered if the player just completed the tutorial and used their eyes. Most of the questions on CA Help and here in the forums could be easily answered by paying attention and making even the smallest effort to answer your own questions for yourself. (6) GO PLAY WURM ALREADY Why are you still here? You're blathering pessimistically on the forums when you could be in Wurm solving your problems, finding your answers, and playing this awesome game. GO THERE.

Currently the material requirement for sleeping bag is so insane that it is only ever useful as a decoration. it takes like over 200 materials to make one. early game its too difficult to aquire that much wool easier to make a bed. late game you probablay already have a place to sleep or max sleep bonus or a place to go home. - Sleeping bag should be an alternative before you can make a bed. (this is how it is in most games and makes sense) - another option would be to add a "primitive bedroll" that gives low sleep bonus like 30% but is easy to make like 20-30 items. (does not require loom , spinning wheel fleet of sheep)

Re-naturalising an area is infinitely more difficult than flat-squaring it. Flat-squaring usually takes place using the level command, whereas re-naturalisation is almost exclusively done using digging (and also dredging). I'll not go into the nightmare of trying to get natural coast-grass/reeds, or erasing all traces of a ruin (some reinforced tunnels have been around for the better part of half a decade). However, sometimes there are long-standing ofdeed terraforming that we do want to last (roads being a key one, but also hidden gardens and the like). A little ground shifting that created small 2-4 high bumps in flat areas, or smoothing out dirt slopes over time to a reasonable level (60 steepest?) so that a new player moving in can actually work with the land rather than having to preme up before working on it wouldn't be unreasonable. Just stop it happening within 5 tiles of a paved tile, or on a deed, so if players want an area to naturalise, they can just remove the paved area or undeed it.

I am playing MMORPGs for 25+ years and multi boxing was always what @shamflam& Wikipedia said, plus, it is also redundant piece as if you can't bot on one client it is quite obvious you can't bot on two or three. So the term should be changed or the whole line removed because it is confusing and there are permanent bans at stake, so it is quite important in my humble opinion.

to be honest, i was at first using it as an excuse to grind more, but when i actually was over at the freedom side, i talked with people more than i grinded, like james said earlier in the thread, i think this is actually healthy for creating more connections between players, and might make me actually set up proper on the PvE server aswell.

Think of the income you get from people who run deeds or are part of groups that play on both servers from a gaming standpoint it makes sense to have it and from a financial side it makes sense too as it gives an incentive for players to play on both and the only way they can do that is to have a place on both which means 1 more people on pvp server be they grinders who craft gear for the pvp only crowd or pvpers who come to pve to make a deed to grind at. At the end of the day the only "downside" is that people get some extra sleep bonus but the rate is so low that unless you only go over once in a blue moon you wont have that much sleep bonus saved up.

Four years ago, when the old highway rules were removed and the new Cats Eyes Highway rule came in... .... the owner of Soylent Green refused to allow Cats Eyes through his deed and promptly ripped up Great South Mountain Road where it passed through his deed of Soylent Green. ... and out to about 50 tiles to either side north south. So some community minded folks came up and surface mined in a by pass on the west side so that a Cat Eyes link to the southern part of Great South Mountain Road could be put in. Recently Soylent Green went down due to expired Upkeep and some folks approached me and others about restoring Great South Mountain Road.
