I don't need these back, I just want to coordinate switching over the "Cared For" status so they do not all drop dead on someone, it's been about five years since I last logged into WO so they are way past the end of a normal lifespan. Most were probably left in the Samling / Bay Hill area north of BlackDogIsland, though they could be anywhere now. All seem to be Venerable, Fat, and a few are on someone's deed, so probably someone out there wants to keep them. Also, if anyone has spotted "Neome's Large Cart," it shockingly somehow survived 5 years, and might even have some of my old tools inside. All the ships wagons and deeds are gone, no surprise, but since I am unpremmed and poorly geared, I would not mind picking up the surviving old cart and trying to find a couple of bulls/nags to pull it so i can drive around and collect all of my stranded alts 😛 The horses that I need to coordinate to /stopcaringfor, and that need their new owners to Care if they want to keep them, are the following: Westfabiola (cared for by Ajara) Oakgolden (cared for by Brash) Hopsweet, Raidebony, Romanwar (cared for by Brashendeavors) Rockrock << always loved that name 😛 (Cared for by Jhana) Fantasygold, Ironchaser, Potebony (cared for by Neome) Sweetdog (cared for by Wyrda) -- Someone renamed it AEFSLCL but I have no idea what that might stand for, unless it is the five horse trait initials in some other language. You can keep them, I just don't want them to drop dead on anyone who has been taking good care of them the past 5 years. Most of them are "probably" clean 5-speeds especially if anyone has bothered to keep them this long, although there might have been a nag or two in the bunch. Last seen in the area around Samling Fjord/InnerSea/BlackDogIsland though they could have changed hands/areas multiple times in 5 years.

I used to build 1x1 towers that reached as high as I needed to go, and ceiling mined everything until it was flat. Tore it all down again and moved to the next section, rinse and repeat. Or I'd make a ramp like you are on now and reach as far as I could. I'd imagine there is a more efficient way, just how I did it back when they first introduced buildings to cave systems etc.

+1 This sounds like a great idea to me 😊 I'd love more house decor options, especially for the walls!

Something attractive but 'unisex' that would work for either women or "priests" would be nice -- say it started all white but when dyed, only certain detail picked up the color so it could look like this: . You might also be able to do just a "skirt" that would match well with current tops, and usable by either sex: Maybe also offer a blank white (dyable) tabard without any kingdom emblems on it

I'd like to add my vote to request this tunnel also be called Big Sky Tunnel, I maintain both entrances, and have always referred to it as Big Sky Tunnel, since the deed at the Steppe end was called Big Sky, and almost everyone in the area knows exactly where that is.

Hi Everyone! Since our announcement of Wurm coming to Steam, we've been hard at work getting everything polished and ready for the launch. Over the past eight months, we approached several tasks to improve the Wurm experience for all; this includes: Improved UI Removal of RMT and account sales Visual updates and reworks Removal of player gods We are pleased to announce that with the visual updates out, and the new UI approaching preview client stage very soon, we will be launching Wurm Online on Steam on July 24th, 2020! We are entering an exciting period as we work on several tasks towards this date, polishing mechanics, addressing bugs and preparing for the monumental task of launching Wurm on Steam. We are currently working on a new trailer, more promotional work and we will be doing a bonus skill event during the release that will be running on all Wurm Online servers, to allow everyone to celebrate the launch, not just players interested in playing on the new servers. We know there are lots of questions regarding the specifics, you can find our answers to some of the Frequently Asked Questions below: I hope you're all as excited as we are because this is going to be huge! See you there! Retrograde & The Wurm Team

Some of you may know me as Yekrut. Others may call me Turkey. And others may remember me as Shut up, kid! Whether you do or don't know me, I have a history in Wurm Online spanning several years and I have a plan for the new Steam PVE server. I've been planning this for any new server. I just didn't know it would take place on a new set of servers, but hey, I'm only human. I'm looking to put together a large market--THE largest market on the new Steam PVE server. I've already started planning. I want to get everything as organized as possible before the server opens and I'm looking for experienced players to join up. What I want is for players who plan to play on the new server to sign up and take on a specific role. When it comes to authority, you will have the responsibility of managing that aspect of the settlement, with input from myself and the other managers. We will have regular small meetings to review and plan future changes to the settlement. You and I will discuss how you should use your role for the betterment of the market and I'll make sure the whole thing comes together in an interesting and organized way. We will find a project for you to work on, and you spend as much time on it as you can. For example, if you agree to be our Master Dye Maker, you will need to level that skill up as quickly as possible because the market will be counting on you. If you're the Main Animal Breeder, your fellow market developers will be counting on you to donate and sell whatever animals you can. Not a lot of sales will be happening at the start of the server because skill levels will be low and no pro items will be in the game yet. Working together and helping each other will set our market apart from other markets. Working together will also help you to acquire better tools and resources before other settlements in the game. We'll design the market to be enormous, colorful, and aesthetically pleasing. I also plan to have a limited amount of lighting to ensure that players have as little lag as possible while in the market. We want to be very, very organized so the market will look amazing. For that to happen, each person's personal preferences will be somewhat limited. What does that mean? It means that the Main Building Designer will have most control over how the residential area looks. It'll be his job to plan structures and see that they are built in an organized way (placement, material type, size). The Main Outdoor Decorator will be in charge of decorating the outside shrubs and landscapes, etc. This is a normal limitation while being part of a larger settlement. But it's good because having one person choose these things for everyone will make an overall better visual effect. Also note that you may have to work with another manager to accomplish some aspects of your role. For example, if you're the ship builder, you may not be able to make your own high level ropes, so you would need to collaborate with other villagers to get rope. Most likely you could trade for some ropes or give up your products for free starting out and someone is likely to give you what you need when they get it. Helping someone else first can go a long way in villager relationships. It's a big undertaking. What do you have to gain from helping out with this project? Let me list a few things that will put you ahead of everyone else when it comes to the new server: -You'll get a larger, more desirable house in the market area. -You'll have a preferred space for a merchant when the market is ready to open.(still true) -You'll have access to a large community that shares their tools and resources with you, which will put us ahead of other settlements.(still true) -You will be conveniently located next to the largest market in the server.(still true) -It will be easier to raise your skills being in a large settlement with a common mine, forge, etc. (still true) -We will be a large settlement at first, while we raise our skills and develop the market. Then we'll open the market as it's ready and the server matures.(still true) -You'll be able to make some silver a little later, when the market opens to traffic from the entire server. (still true) -You will have access to our wagoner, which makes bulk shipping much more convenient than delivering it yourself by cart or ship.(still true) -You'll be part of a settlement that won't play for a few days and then quit. It's common among new players. We will keep growing this community until we're all highly skilled and rich. You will also have the benefit of being part of a large-scale project, which will be much bigger than most, if not all, other settlements early in the game.(still true) What do you have to lose? What do we need from you? You'll need a few things to be able to sign up to take on a role: -Premium. You'll need high skills eventually to continue to improve the market's appearance and amenities, which will require premium on at least one of your accounts. -This isn't like a real job, so you create your own hours. However, in order to fulfill your role as a manager, you'll need to put in an honest effort. If it becomes clear that you aren't fulfilling your duties or trying to steal/scam other members of the group, we'll replace you with someone who fills the role more adequately. -Donations. While you're raising your skills you can create storage bins, forges, carts, etc. to level up your character to be able to perform more difficult tasks. Collect your shards, ores, wood, etc. and throw them in a bin so that other people may use them for raising their skills. This type of network can be beneficial for everyone who joins in on this market. If it's not useful to you at the moment, it may be useful for someone else, so don't throw it away. Give it away if you can. Phase 1 - Set up stations for grinding up skills, a small house for each player on the table above, and a small building for each main development focus, such as smithing, leatherworking, etc. At the moment this stage is expected to last for around 1 month. It really depends on how fast we can grind up skills and gather materials for the next phase. Phase 2 - The market opens for venders who are part of the market's development (as listed above). We begin to change the settlement and terraform/lay down the foundation for the endgame market design. Our sellers open their venders so that other players may buy their wares. The final market design is being developed currently, which will be completed at phase 3. During phase 2 we will begin building with whatever skill sets we have gained at that time. This phase is most likely going to take the following 1-2 months to set up. Phase 3 - The beginnings of the endgame marketplace are in place, and just need to be completed over time as we get higher skill levels. The marketplace has been changed to accommodate sellers from all across the server. We fully open to the public and connect our establishment to other settlements via highways. We install a wagoner for shipments. We begin selling bulk materials and horses. We open our services to the entire server, such as sermon group inclusion, public mine, etc. As we reach phase 3, villagers who have kept up with their roles in the development of the market are free to move out and start their own settlements. They will be able to keep their house, title, and role in the marketplace, as well as their special market merchant spot for as long as they remain active on the server. They are free to pursue other endeavors and aren't expected to stay at the marketplace forever. Anyone who leaves early or fails to help the settlement adequately before that happens would give up their slot to someone else. *update* Our project is as large and ambitious as ever, so feel free to join up with us. How to sign up: Send me (Hammer) a pm with your discord ID so that I can send you an invite to our channel. Also include which role you want to have, or if you would like to be a general helper. If you don't want to use discord then you can send your Wurm Online username and email address so we can keep contact for important developments. I'll also use your email to share market spreadsheets with you. I won't use it for any other purposes, I promise. You may also message me in Wurm Online on Yekrut to discuss more information. If it's a high difficulty role you need to tell me why you think you could do a good job and how much experience you have doing that. Some roles will require some experience and others will require little or none. You can send a nickname if you don't want anyone to see your character name in advance (so nobody else takes it when the server opens). If I think you'll do a good job I'll add you to the list. You should sign up for 2 or 3 roles if you think you will be able to handle all of them. You can also sign up as backup if you want to help the primary person with that task. If there's a role you would like but it isn't listed, send me a message and maybe we can add yours. Some of us knows me as the "Dwarven King of Xanadu", i've a lot of fun in that server in mining out my deed from the glasshollow mountain, and i love to be a wurm dwarf, living most of my wurm life underground, and now it's even easier with large planters for farming underground too! I will be in the new steam server, and i may, or may not, want to try at building up either a dwarven underground city, or a community built in a large enough mountain with connected underground deeds, maybe along a common highway. Anyone interested in joining into a possible alliance to do that? Here the link to a post showing what i did over time at my place, in nearly 3 years of play.

Pulling from the topic here and expanding a bit on it a bit: https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/175925-bank-and-coin/ Globalize the bank itself, in both the ability to deposit at any deed token, and also the ability to add/withdraw items from any token. Make the item storage cross server as well with say a 20 or 30 item total limit. The ability to deposit coins only at your bank node, per server, but which is unrelated to the token for the deed you could be a part of, along with the ability to withdraw money from anywhere and have money across servers/clusters, but only having server specific item storage per server, is quite confusing to new players and quite a challenge for veteran player to explain to them and just feels like it could easily be improved on.

Thank you Schiann and Zenity for your suggestion to rename the tunnel. We did not know that the locals had a common name for it, however, I do recall seeing Big Sky on the map years ago (though I think it had disbanded by the time I got over that way to map the area). We will change the name for this week's update. Regards, Skyefox and Hughmongus Cartographers of Indy Co-Administrators - The Albia Roads Map of Indy

I have a good quantity of 72 ql iron I'd be happy to donate to the impalong. I live on Release, somewhat near the west coast, and could either meet you on the east coast of Xan or if you wanted to pick up, have easy canal access. Just PM me here or ingame (same name) to arrange qty and exchange.

Roosters! I would be most at home with our local birdsong cycle, but others may find it disorienting. Where I live the dawn chorus is usually either Magpies or Kookaburras. Australian magpies sound wonderful when they warble, but the crazy laugh of a kookaburra can be a bit of a shock to the uninitiated. Daytime is usually filled with the "beep beep" of Zebra finches, the frantic chitter of willy wagtails, and the various whistles of fairy wrens, finches and wild canaries, with the occasional crack of a pair of whip-birds. Summer afternoons we have stormbirds, with its repetitive and maddening coo-ee. Dusk is often punctuated with the maniacal "WHOOOOP whoop whoop whoop" of pheasants, and more from the kookaburras. Other areas are deafened by lorikeets and other parrots. Nighttime is pierced by nature's answer to the car alarm, the plover (or masked-lapwing). I wonder why so many of our birds sound like they've gone bonkers.

+1. The banking system could definitely be easier to operate/understand!! As to storage in the token, maybe each deed should get some sort of "vault" storage of some sort that performs the same function as token item banking. Whether or not the vault is made an actual visible thing, I have no idea. The token itself is essentially the symbol or flag of your deed so to speak but doesn't necessarily have to serve as a container too.

Something like that, or have a high spawn rate for dogs around the starter town(s). They are no real threat to newbies unless attacked and give pelts of a decent size. I think even a rat pelt of 5 or 10 QL in the starter gear would be good because it would intuitively inform new players where pelts come from (as in what animal is good to target).

From Wurmpedia (the last dot point of what you can do with both starter and explorer tents); And like I said, I have logged in to find my hitched animal dead (and was not old or sick). I would figure some roam to find resources, some to hunt, some for archaeology, some for looting ruins, and some just to roam. Some sail to remote areas of their server or to another server, and want a little security for their stuff without having to constantly pack and unpack. Most "light travellers" that I know in real life are more than happy, keen even, to leave as small a footprint as possible. I have seen several camps, with tent, anvil and altar inside a fence, and quite a few 3x2 fenced areas that look to me like ex camps, as well as isolated bits of fencing. Maybe you are not aware of them, but I have seen them, Anyone actually journeying and not simply transiting from a to b will have reason to stop and venture around a local area, at which point there is a good reason for a camp (i.e. something more than a tent & bedroll) - currently that involves carrying or constructing building material. I am not sure where you get the idea that I am suggesting people would need ropes in inventory. I am suggesting ropes to be used in the construction/assembly of the camp pack, to take the place of having to either carry or make all the fencing material required for a 3x2 fenced area. Most of these fences that I have seen are wooden fences, weighing 6.2kg per panel, or 62kg for a 3x2. The "simplest" fence is the roundpole, which still weighs 4.2kg per panel. A rope fence is the lightest, but still at 4kg per panel. All are prohibitive to carry unless in a vehicle, all are "consumed" when constructed and must either be destroyed before departing or they clutter the landscape - for this the wooden fence at least is very marginally quicker to decay.. I certainly understand that if you are simply travelling to a destination and stopping only for logging off you would only want to chuck up the tent and chuck down the swag. However, for some of us it is more than that. I have a home in a well-stable village, but I am a natural wanderer, a light traveler, a Wurm nomad, and have seen others both in-game and in the fora who would fit that description and who I think would benefit from this.

You are assuming everyone has to live on a deed and that off deed living is not a valid option. You are assuming everyone keeps valuables on their person and not on chests. You are assuming everyone that leaves for long periods of time had the time to prepare for that absence. You are assuming only fsbs and bsbs are the only locked items people leave behind. You are assuming that not getting to the valuables is an issue of "right or wrong." You are assuming that things need to happen quickly in Wurm and thats why lockpicking instead of lava or deeds is okay. That's a lot of assumptions. There are many ways to skin a cat. There are many ways currently available to do what you want. Just because its not convenient to you doesn't mean it needs to be changed.
  37. 1 point
-1 If you want locked stuff, let it decay. Many people play off deed and they deserve to own items too.

May I suggest this tunnel be labelled Big Sky Tunnel? That's what us folks around the steppe call it. (Named after a deed that once sat where the tunnel starts from the plains.) Hopefully other folks from the area can chime in to confirm, so you don't have to take just my word for it.

There's a lot more behind it, and we're not committing to launching them at the same time. We will see if it is possible, but there is extra work to be done. I see a lot of discussion about the Impalong, and how we should plan our official steps according to it, but ultimately we are set by other restrictions and confinements. The skillgain bonus will provide incentive and we will support the impalong as we've always supported them. At the end of the day however, they are community based events, and we cannot structure the game, or our wider scale works around them, our development process needs to take precedence.

^ 80 skill is trash and ez to get in a week(or under) if you have the time and resources no-life, sleep bonus, well enchanted gear, knowledge, eyes and fingers of steel. plenty of skills could be grinded to 50 in just a few hours with no special preparation or setup, all you need is knowledge how skillgains work. Old players have an edge(knowhow), only thing a new player have is .. probably bigger interest to catch up or energy to keep going.. I'm pretty burned.. can't really bother to compete with anybody, doesn't matter how easy it is to do it.

This was my concern as well, there are lengthy conversations about the other three letter changes. However, back when I started Freedom was the only PVE map, with an active and vibrant community and it is my opinion that every additional server only further spread out the long term community. No matter how long they wait to merge them, if they merge them or not the veterans will always have the edge of past time on their side over the new player be they today's or next years, a reality of every online multiplayer game. It is my opinion that people buy games on steam for the flavor of the month looking for instant gratification and eventually move on to the next one. Few gamers have the time, resources and dedication to commit to a subscription based game with added maintenance costs and the long term time investment (grind) that is Wurm. Unless they make drastic changes to the maintenance costs and time to level skills, I am of the opinion this steam experiment will flame out and we will have more maps and a thinner player base.
