Dear Sir or Ma'am: I have been requested by the Celebration National Unique Company to contact you for assistance in resolving a matter. The Celebration National Unique Company has recently concluded a large number of contracts for Unique exploration in the sub-Xanadu region. The contracts have immediately produced moneys equaling 40,000,000 Silver. The Celebration National Unique Company is desirous of unique exploration in other parts of the world, however, because of certain regulations of the Celebration Government, it is unable to move these funds to another region. You assistance is requested as a non-Celebration citizen to assist the Celebration National Unique Company, and also the Central Bank of Celebration, in moving these funds out of Celebration. If the funds can be transferred to your deed, in your Independence account, then you can forward the funds as directed by the Celebration National Unique Company. In exchange for your accommodating services, the Celebration National Unique Company would agree to allow you to retain 10%, or 4 million silver of this amount. However, to be a legitimate transferee of these moneys according to Celebration law, you must change the default role name in your deed to your player name, and change the permissions so that you may access it. If it will be possible for you to assist us, we would be most grateful. We suggest that you meet with us in person in Celebration, and that during your visit I introduce you to the representatives of the Celebration National Unique Company, as well as with certain officials of the Central Bank of Celebration. Time is of the essence in this matter; very quickly the Celebration Government will realize that the Central Bank is maintaining this amount on deposit, and attempt to levy certain depository taxes on it. Yours truly, Prince Oblivionn Reaver dont actually change your perms tho lol

Thing is, many of the descriptions go way too fast and aren't intuitive at all. If you're fighting 3-4 mobs like cavebugs, good luck keeping track of what's going on. Those cavebugs might not be a threat to older players but to a new one they can tear him a new alleyway where the sound doesn't shine. Personally I'd add an in-depth combat tutorial, showing hit chance on mob for PvE, CR, rough damage output of weapon, Displayed Damage Reduction of armor and customize the feedback the system gives to you. Example : 1. Engage wolf with longsword + small wooden shield. 2. Show hitchance on wolf (%) 3. You can add an option to display a text above the wolf based on your Fight skill + weapon equipped = Non-threatening, Small threat, Even fight, Challenging, Very Challenging, Nearly Impossible (aka uniques, sea serpents, avatars, warmaster, etc.). That display can be turned on or off depending on how you want your immersion. 4. Show damage on wolf per hit, not vague descriptions such as "irritate, harm, damage". 5. Show block chance. It's kinda absurd how these numbers all run in the background in any fight, but none of them are actually displayed for a player so he can figure out the optimal approach to a fight. Having a customizable UI for any fight that shows numbers and percentages would be awesome. A player can turn them on or off but at least give him an idea of what's going on. Vague descriptions aren't good design in any game. Even old games such as fallout 2 had better input on what's going on in combat regarding chance to hit, damage done, damage reduced by armor and so forth. And Wurm was launched almost a decade post fallout 2. If we still want an "old timey" combat system, that's fine, but at least give the option for players to turn on in-depth combat feedback so they can learn what's happening. I'm just worried how new players might perceive Wurm's combat system when Steam launches.

Strongwall takes an absurd amount of time to cast per tile and has no need for channeling which often gets it left to a dedicated strongwall alt to do. Having the cast time reduced by channeling (or some other priest based skill like the overall religion skill) down to something like 60 seconds at 100 would be nice.

So it was announced that the great man of wurm Gordonlee has passed from us to the great sleep of earth. And shall be no more cleansing wurm of its evils and helping those who are new to wurm. I have talked to those who lived breathed and built an empire with him Bearfoot Emporium of setting up a memorial. I would like to know how devs think this should be done because I would like it not to rot. His deed one of the LONGEST ever in Xanadu shall soon pass from this world to dust to the wurm soil once again. I Plus others will be working on this commemoration of our gentle soul and his good works. Devs if you could let me know how you have been handling this with other great warriors of wurm who have left us I would appreciate it. Puncher.

Hi Everyone First, I would like to say that I am sorry we did not announce the last PvP changes before pushing them live. Moving forward, we will be making dedicated discussion threads of upcoming PvP related changes to provide players sufficient warning and time for some feedback. Alongside this change, I wanted to address some of the concerns raised by players in the patch note thread. I gave my original notes via Retro, but it is clear that a more in-depth discussion/explanation is needed. Addressing Concerns Mentioned Healing enchants did not receive the resistance penalty changes as they require you to be doing active weapon damage to heal, and it is one of the few ways non priests can heal meaning this is open for everyone to use as an enchanted weapon. It will, however, still work off healing resistance and other methods of healing will build up the resistance faster, decreasing the effectiveness of the enchant. We did not want to nerf all spells that use casting on other players bodies with range checks from starting position, so we picked to remove the body casting on the few trouble spells from being usable on vehicles only. Heal is the intended spell to be used on moving vehicles with its long cast time. Every priest (of which most people are on PvP) having tangleweave allowed non-stop casting of the spell. While we do want to reduce spell-spam, allowing the non-stop interruption of spells as a solution is not a viable long term solution compared to limiting how useful things are to spam. Being able to block a vital spell, like heal on a dying person is not something we want to remove, but being able to block casts indefinitely seems a bit of a broken way to handle spell spam. The only counter to this would require even more priests, leaving people without tons of them extremely vulnerable to this heal/damage spam from spells. For tangleweave, going forward, how would people feel about Vynora/Libila only having tangleweave with closer to the original values to make Vyrnoa a more viable pick in PvP combat? We are also open to other ideas for making vynora a bit more feasible as a pick and not just because it's required to fill all three champ slots/enchant stuff. We are open to ideas for new venom effects, but removing the rng element of it makes it far too accurate, and we are not looking to go back to that at this time. We like the idea of starting and stopping boats not being instant but understand it has made stamina regen much more difficult taking up to 8+ seconds to stop than start back up again now. Some ideas to help this include reducing stamina drain when sailing overall by a pretty large amount to make stops for stamina less required in general or reducing the time it takes to slow down in half. Proposed Changes Reduced stamina loss on boats from moving by half, or reduce the action time to stop/start a ship by half down to 2 seconds from 4. A mixture of both could also work. Tangleweave will now be exclusive to Vynora/Libila. Tangleweave cooldown reduced to 1 min. Tangleweave cast time back to 3 seconds. Tangleweave favour cost stays at 30. Focused Will will receive the same as the cure spells. This first discussion is also open to any PvP changes people would like to see in general, not just things listed here. Please note that we will likely keep future posts like this to more specific topics. Please keep it civil and on topic, save the kingdoms and other player-related talks for skirmishes/discord PvP channel.

Today I ran into a situation where I couldn't charm my own animal on deed. So I'm sitting here scouring all my permissions looking all over for why I can't do this. Allowed to do spells, allowed to brand, allowed to manage the animal.. etc etc etc to no avail. I go to CA chat to get help, checking and double checking to make sure I have everything I'm supposed to have. Until finally I realize that charm animal counts as "attacking a citizen" when the animal is branded. Now this is extremely obscure, because under normal conditions, why would you ever grant a citizen the ability to attack other citizens. Of course this is freedom, so you can't really attack other players anyway. But still, this was really confusing. However this isn't really point of this post; the real problems boils down to poor messages that do not explain why you can't do things. Just make it easier to resolve permission headaches, which is something that comes up very commonly with new or even veteran players. Suggestion: Update not allowed messages to include all the permissions the user is lacking to perform said action. Instead of [02:15:38] That would be very bad for your karma and is disallowed on this server. It should say [02:15:38] You do not have the 'Attack Citizens' permission so that would very bad for your karma and is disallowed on this server.

Flashbacks to a lot of players and stories (yours included) dying to pigs and dogs because we didn't understand how the combat worked in the beginning when we were total newbies. 1. How much damage did I do? 20? 15? 2. How do I block? 3. What's the difference in targetting body parts? 4. Distance? 5. Where's my hit chance shown? 6. How much damage does my weapon do exactly? 7. Which weapon is better? - > this question is an endless debate Those are rational questions any gamer asks when facing a new combat system. Wurm sadly doesn't address those, I'd rather have a minimal DnD style approach that shows approximate damage and hit chance rather than nothing. It takes a long time to "get a feel" for the combat in Wurm. Would be nice to have the combat revamped or at least clarify alongside the new UI.

Hey, I think it would be great to have some extra plants for the water. Either deep water or along the shoreline. Lilypads are one such example but also some water based flower plants would be good. Maybe even some trees for the shoreline. Maybe there could be a new tree shoreline tile that could be created to fix the issue of trees not being able to be planted at the waters edge. Maybe you could use the hand icon on dirt that is a max of - 4 in the water to create prepared moist soil or something. Then by having a special tile created with these slope conditions it stops people being able to plant trees in the middle of the ocean. This was inspired by my friend who made a pond in my village and wanted some nice Lilypads and other plants to be around the pond to make it look pretty.

Currently taming does not have too much use in PvE and pets don't really do much for us. So as your taming level increases you can teach animals tricks, essentially non-genetic traits that cannot be passed down. To teach these traits has a price, namely in loyalty, each teach attempt drains a certain amount of loyalty and a difficulty check is made against the player's taming skill. If it fails the loyalty is lost and nothing happens, if it passes the creature learns the trick. A couple of examples being: Herd : Allows the creatures to lead up to 3 passive creatures. Wolves (40 loyalty), Mountain Lions (40 loyalty), Dogs (30 loyalty) and Bears (50 loyalty) can learn. Difficulty : 40 Swimming : Allows the creature to swim. Small creatures (30 loyalty), medium creatures (60 loyalty), large creatures (80 loyalty). Difficulty : 30/50/70 Domesticated : Creature will be passive, even if untamed. (90 loyalty). Difficulty 60.

Permission Impossible Alright, lets get to it shall we... Your deeds come with a set of default permission roles to help in the administration of your deed, but there is a misunderstanding spreading around that is making it possible for someone to raid some of your deeds on the PVE servers. Some of you for some reason are renaming the Non Citizen role to attempt to grant a single person or group access to your deed, but this is NOT a shortcut as the role is still for non citizens! Yes, you can rename the default roles, but that does not change their focus. By renaming the Non Citizen role you are doing nothing but giving it a new name, not changing who it affects. This misunderstanding about renaming the default permission roles is allowing a person to do some very unsavory activities on our PVE servers. At this time I do not know if this person is intentionally spreading this misinformation or is simply exploiting it to raid PVE deeds, but this activity will be stopped as raiding and mass looting active deeds is a PVP activity and not acceptable on our PVE servers. Now let me be clear! You are responsible for proper deed security settings, so please make sure you have not set yourself up for falling victim to this situation. Renaming roles is your privilege, but it does not change the default roles' targeted player group! Thank You, Wurm Online Team

Hi everyone Over the years we've had the premium player count graph publicly visible via the server MRTG. During this time, it has been viewed as evidence regarding the health of the game. The fact is the premium subscription count has always been a poor reflection of the health of the game as it does not take the entire community into account. The system does not reflect new players joining the game, nor premium players who have left. This system means that players do not get an accurate view of the game and become focused on premium accounts as opposed to active accounts. With the Steam launch incoming, to properly view the active population more accurately, we have decided to remove the premium player count graph and replace it with weekly active users. The new weekly active users information can be found here: https://jenn001.game.wurmonline.com/mrtg/weeklylogins.html

As promised more updated pictures on our large community area here on Release J13. Working on creating large off deed farms in the large flat tiers. A ton of more work to still do but will post more updated pictures when we get further along. Also we are very proud of the road design we came up with. Going to use it all over the area in different iterations.

The Sea Serpent is big, bad, scary and tough and goes 20km/h. This creature catches you at sea, chances are you are not going to outrun it. It hits like a truck and crits like mad. Why does it not have anything unique on its loot table? Something simple as unique "Sea Serpent Meat" would be awesome. You kill it, take the meat, and use it to make Sea Serpent Sushi. Give it a neat effect like it increases your wound regeneration speed or something. Nothing crazy, but would make it worth being farmed. Yes?

There are a couple points of interpretation here. Firstly, trial benefits and their uptake. I get the 80/20 issue, which is saying that only 20% of 2s premium buyers are genuine new users, but perhaps that is looking at the data backwards. The real analysis should be of the genuine new users and what they do, rather than of the 2s system and who else is using it. It wouldn't matter that new users only make up 20% of 2s premium buyers if that represented a significant proportion of the new users. As a new user who used the 2s system, there were two stumbling blocks that had me delaying pulling the trigger on it. First, the skill cap was just that, a cap. If most of my skills were well below the cap (and for me they were) it was difficult for me to see any benefit to be realized by going premium. Yes there are some other things only available to premium players, but I was nowhere near any of them being a serious option yet, so delayed while I got more skills up towards the cap. The second issue for me was the thought that I would get only 1 month and then the price would quintuple. For me, removal of the cap was the ONLY benefit to be seen in premium, and if I could not see 10s/month value in that already (which was the case) then I would be hesitant to outlay even the 2s if I thought it likely I would not want to continue @ 10s/mth (which I was). Now, if skill gains were faster for premium than not, now that would have been a prompter. I would have though "wow, this is cool, I better keep this up!) If I hadn't had a complete change of village - and server - at the same time, I never would have paid actual $ for more premium time. For myself, I a not sure if my improved experience had all that much to do with premium rather than with finding a more lively and supporting community. Secondly, Premium would have to be a noticeable and highly desirable improvement over f2p - a premium, if you will - pdq in order to be convincing that the gain is worth 10s/month. The skill caps lift, but really nothing else changes inside of that month. I would suggest that lack of retention is not due to the 2s system but due to the lack of whizz-bang experience for newish players in premium itself. Perhaps it needs to be considered that the benefits being trialled were not considered worth a dig into actual pockets rather than blame the trial system itself. If premium were to give players an immediate and noticeable improvement in their experience, they may be more likely to be invested enough to want to retain that improved experience. It's easy to retain someone who has already invested much, but to retain someone who has invested little, the benefit has to be real, visible and significant. I don't think 30 carpentry instead of 20 carpentry (for example) is sufficient for that purpose - it may be a 50% increase, but it still won't have opened up huge vistas of possibilities in the mind of a newby like me. Anyhoo, that's my 2 irons worth.

Furthermore, as per our EULA which is agreed to upon login: Wurm Online may suspend, modify, terminate, or delete any player account at any time for any reason without notice. There is a Golden Valley you see, It's in a memory or perhaps a dream. Thick forest that were preserved with trust and high-ways that no mans anger could ever bust. That could be described as a dream. The neighbors always respected your land and if your cows got lose they would give you a hand. The Valley where horses could drop kick you to death. Where walls would fall with a single breath. and if you came back to late there was nothing left. Oh that valley of humble starts, now just a memory from where we depart, in that old wooden large cart.
