Ok so firstly this is a collaboration between 2 people, me and Angie, Angie did the models and they look awesome. It has a new model, so the server will need to run serverpacks mod and the players will also need the client version of serverpacks mod in order to see the model. General idea is that at the moment in order to make big volumes of the same color is difficult but also recreating that exact same color at a later date is almost impossible. So we added a new device called a 'Dye Maker' although it is more of an extractor or separator but either way dye maker is the name i originally gave it and it stuck. Device can be crafted in game by players. The process goes like this. Craft the device which will be on the ground, just like forge, fountain and such. Activate the dye in your inventory and right click the device, click 'Add dye' and this will add your dye to the device, there is an amount that is lost for adding dye (this is set by server admin). Activate any item and you get the action of 'check dye' this will tell you exactly how much dye has been stored in the device. Activate a container that can hold dye in your inventory and right click device, click 'Extract Dye' and then you will get a window pop up asking you to set the values for the dye. Choose your RGB, quality and volume. perms, the player needs pickup perms on deed in order to extract dye, anyone can add dye and check how much dye but need perms to extract dye. That is pretty much it, there are very complex calculations as far as how much dye is added to the device. Properties file looks like this ## Item template Id to use for the dye maker device, change if it conflicts with another mod targetid = 5858 ## % amount of liquid lost when adding to device losspercent = 50 ##lowest value of R,G and B for extraction, example: if set to 50 all 3 values must be at least 50. minimumextraction = 50 ## maximum of R+G+B allowed to add to device, any higher cannot be added as is to device maxrgb = 450 The game itself makes it very easy to make white dye which in the game at least is 255 255 255, so making white dye would add large amounts of each RGB, so there is a loss value to counter this which is set by the server admin, default is 50%. Then on the other side of the coin 0 0 0 is pure black and doing volume calculations on 0 would mean adding a tiny bit of dye you could extract thousands of volume of pure black, so there is a minimum value for the R G B extraction, which can be set by admin, default is 50. Which means the lowest RGB values possible to extract are 50, so 50 50 50, this makes a dark brown but not quite black colour. Also a maxrgb value for adding dye, this is R+G+B, so you if set to 450 then you won't be able to add pure white of any ql. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjnBltNOSFjChAaSk_GXtEbXecVP?e=OQCEkZ So there is a group of us working together at the moment in our own time to make more interesting things for wurm, including models. This is just the first released mod and there will no doubt be more to come.

So the idea is simple An auction house that is accessible from any trader Items are picked up from mailboxes/wagoners(if bulk) This means either go to a starter town to trade/purchase the needed things to set up your own little AH spot All AH's are connected cross server but cluster only(epic has their own and freedom has their own and so do the kingdoms) If you need a reference to how it would work look at the likes of Runescape's Grand Exchange or Age of conan's tradepost's or World of warcraft's auction house As for specifics of the ui in simple terms A list of all items listed based on recent posting(auto update every minute) A filter option that lets you filter the main list for specific types for example weapons or specific weapons and so on or enchants A search option that lets you search for specific items or any other things related to said items(enchants quality material type so on) A button that can be pressed to make a new listing of an item and would show an inventory where you can drag drop items into(and also transfer from crates or entire crates full of items) into it -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now to address some possible fears "but item prices will plumed uncontrollably as people will keep listing items for cheaper and cheaper in hopes it sells faster" And yes some might but are you willing to sell your 1k iron bricks for 20c when you just saw a sale go through of someone buying them for 1s? Would you shoot yourself in the foot by listing it that cheap when the average price the AH gives you is 1s/1k? "But player interaction will lower" and to that i say this What player interaction? We see trade being spammed for days with the same sell and buy posts sometimes for weeks on end and when someone does finally buy or sells something to them its maybe 5-10 lines of text total is it really that much different from directly trading at an AH? when those 10 lines consist of "Hey are you still selling this if so can i buy it" "oh ya i am are you willing to pick it up?" and so on "But it is not wurm enough we should make it harder not easier" But why? With the changes to the game with RMT gone with our world being hit with corona with our dwindling player base our trade is as good as dead players arent really willing to invest rl currency into the game anyway making trade more modern(it is a game after all) and more enjoyable for us isnt a bad thing right? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Now i am sure there are more questions and if so ask them and i will answer them now i will list some points as to why it would be a benefit for wurm When the game releases on steam and if it catches the eyes of people a lot who play games like wurm(mmo's and the likes) are all used to an AH it makes the games more enjoyable for everyone from the new comers to long time players Trade will be centralized instead of in 2 channels(forums and trade chat) it can potentially revive the old trade deeds we once had by players being able to invest into the trader and wagoner needed to make that happen(great silver sink for the devs) Having a clear view of what gets traded and how often will help everyone see what they can buy and sell and at how much and it will make for a more engaging market (finding your niche that you can fill is something a lot of people enjoy doing in a lot of games) Sure if an AH was added item prices will go a bit whacky at first(maybe they wont) but if they do after a while things will settle down and prices will be exactly what the playerbase wants them to be Anyway i really want to hear you guys your opinions on it and addons that you might want to have to this idea or maybe things to take away and some proper for and against points would be quite nice to see as well

All good suggestions. The trick with booze I've found, is carry 2 measuring jugs, fill one with 2 or 5 kg of wine/booze (depending on how long you're gonna be climbing). the other jug set at 1g (lowest setting). as you're climbing drag the booze into the 1g jug and drink - maybe set a hotkey for drinking. each drink of 1g gives 3 stamina back, so if you're fast enough on the drag and drink, you should be able to steadily climb. if you find you're getting low on stamina, stop and drink until full again. Also, if you're leading the horse, use the saddle sacks/bags to carry a backpack with your tools, maybe some extra water, picnic basket, etc. Can keep the window open to easily drag stuff into your inventory as you need it

At the moment this high end piece of furniture doesn't really do more than a small barrel with 10 jars in it, and it's only real feature is looking pretty. So I propose the following changes: 1. Allow the vials to be resized in a similar way to measuring jugs (only available if empty, current measure shown in the name to make things easier) 2. Liquids stored in this table DO NOT DECAY, AT ALL. 3. A special container for healing covers only; covers stored in here DO NOT DECAY.

Please allow us to place more than 15 items on a high empty bookshelf. 15 books isn't enough to come close to filling a shelf, yet wogic dictates that 16 is just far too many. I was so excited about books and bookshelves, I hadn't imagined it would look this sparse. While on the topic, please stop book decay on deeds with more than 30 days of upkeep, even if it means adding an action to the shelf like "dust" that can be performed weekly to repair all or stop decay.

If you feel that something in your area is worthy of being preserved for others, do your part in being an altruistic repairman or repairwoman. 🙈 Examples: I like to repair every guard tower I come across, because a lot of folks benefit from them. Some towers in the deep wilderness haven't been repaired for months and months. One such tower could save the life of a hapless newbie, who'll go on to build guard towers of his own...and so on, and so forth. 😜 There's a lovely canal I often use, with a very original design. All of the lamps, candelabras, braziers, statues will vanish in a few months, unless someone repairs them. (If this is already a default for folks, forgive me for assuming that players don't care enough about these things.)

Raising climb skill: Find a steep cliff underground (dropshaft), climb it until you are out of stamina, fall down, start over again. Falling from great heights inside caves causes no damage.

+1 I've been asking the same question since day one "Why does Wurm has this ancient model of trading that does more to separate players than unite them?" aka lack of an AH. An AH over time does a lot of good for the economy, namely it tends to average out prices with few fluctuations over time, assuming an item doesn't have increased value due to new mechanics, or less value due to them (think how the metal update changed the value of iron, copper, gold, etc.). I would love to see the best offer on an AH vs its quality. My suggestion would also be to add a tax on any item put on the AH, the auctioneer takes a 10-20% cut from sales, if the sale is made succesfully. Having a trade chat that is spammed endlessly with the same offers, having difficulty sometimes to keep track of what is on offer or not is frustrating to put it mildly. An auctioneer could be purchased as well for 5 silvers and put in on your deed in a small building so you can access the AH network. Other than that all starter towns should have 1 auctioneer present. There's a reason a lot of companies had huge success with centralizing marketplaces (Amazon, ebay, alibaba, etc.). Most medieval simulators have a similar AH system, not to ruin immersion but to add value to the player experience. It's just plain old common sense that streamlines an otherwise tedious process Wurm seems intent on clinging on too with tooth and claw just to be "hardcore". It's not hardcore, it's just a bore, let's face it. An AH would revitalize the market since people can now see armors on offer, swords of varying quality and enchants, etc. I'd also add "Customized offers" to the AH such as small 100 character descriptions such as "Offering masonry services on site", "Offering weapon improving and repair services.". "Offering farming services." etc, for people who don't necesarily want to sell items but their skills.

That's kind of the issue as a game design feature in Wurm. The "penning" part. Can you imagine how this game design would look for world bosses in other games? Kazzak or Green Dragons in WoW Classic for instance, which for the unfamiliar are world bosses accessible to all. Any guild can try them, but you can't pen them. You can tag them and pull them and lock them for your raid during the fight but that's it. That's good game design. Everyone gets a shot but those that aren't prepared & coordinated will get punished. The fact is, "penning" denies access to others. You can't pen bosses in other games, but Wurm allows it. And look at all the drama it causes. It's just a way of saying "I'm paying silvers to get this phat loot" so other's can't get it, then I dictate the market price. Do you honestly believe once WO comes on Steam, there won't be a few wurmians with a lot of experience, working together to bumrush uniques, pen them and sell their scales for ludicrous prices or just hoard those uniques for themselves, thus devaluing the entire playerbase experience? How would it look like if in WoW classic, once a guild does Naxxramas or AQ40 no other guild can attempt it for 2 weeks? I assure you most raiders would quit the game or become 100% disinterested in raiding overall. Here's the issue with this logic. You *HAVE* to be online the minute a unique spawns. That's timegated content right there. In other "standard MMOS" you can raid/do dungeons whenever you like, be it noon, 3 am or 7 PM . You aren't being forced to play at a certain hour to be allowed to experience end game content. Another thing that bothers me. Even with RMT gone silvers still mean RL money. There's no two ways about it since it can be bought with it. Spending RL money (aka silvers) ON TOP of a subscription service to experience end game content (by penning uniques) is simply a shitty way to design a game, worthy of the entire mobile gaming industry that gates everything through micro or macro transactions. This entire approach creates a market that allows people to dictate whatever price they want for a bunch of pixels randomly generated on a map and honestly it's just a sad reminder how real life works and that's not the reason I'd like to play Wurm. I don't want to play wurm just to be reminded how shitty monopolies are. Personally I'd buff up uniques, make them bigger and have them work more like bosses in other games. Can't pen them, loot is character bound (aka you have to earn it, no more buying end game content), which btw is the approach all decent MMO's have. NO one should be able to buy end game content. It devalues the work of those that actually put in the hours to get them. Again , I'm referencing crappy mobile games here. Wurm shouldn't have this approach. And if it becomes such, sure it's probably gonna make a profit, cause that's just how the market is. But it won't be a game I'll be spending money on. Oh and here's my last argument. "Group X", "Group Y" & "Group Z" dedicate their time to pen uniques kill them and set their price for me if I want to buy scales. I'm basically at the mercy of a small monopoly just so I can experience this wonderful set of armour other people have worked towards denying it to others. Sorry. I'm just tired of the same self-serving arguments that "people should spend time and effort" when it mostly comes down to greed really. Wurm Online's demographic is still made by working people mostly aged 24 and up. It's not made of teens or kids spending their daddy's credit card on items like other games out there. People play on their limited free time. Content should be made available for all, not just select groups of people who dedicate themselves to gating uniques to others. As for the argument "but there are random public slayings all the time". Oh yeah, cool. I see an army of 200 alts just so I can get 0.01 kg of scales. Just 1000 more dragons and I'll be able to afford my own set that way. Let's face it. Unique game design is broken AF and needs to be changed. A dragon shouldn't be like a pet you lock up in a mine and suddenly it's too stupid to get out of waiting its demise at the hand of 20 players with huge axes. The lizard should just fly away (reasonable approach) once the mine is open or incinerate everyone out of spite. I'm done with this inane system. Good game design is done by earning items/content on your own free time and NOT if you are lucky enough to experience it.

In addition to the option to simply Destroy a house wall or fence, what about the option to Salvage, with a chance to produce some materials? Skill used: Restoration Tools: Crowbar and Pliers (borrowing some mechanics/text from archaeology) Chance to successfully salvage materials, and QL of materials salvaged calculated based on Restoration skill, effective QL of structure, and QL of tools used. Failure causes damage to structure (lowering QL of subsequent salvage, but speeding removal) QL of salvaged materials capped at % of structure QL, to discourage building with low QL materials just to salvage for higher QL ones Same restrictions as Destroy; Body Strength requirement, permissions requirement, etc Types of materials salvaged could take into account levels of related skills like Carpentry, Masonry, Blacksmithing The idea is to make the removal of structures no longer needed a bit less painful in regards to loss of materials, and encourage remove-and-rebuild (over relocate and rebuild) a bit more.

I'm getting constantly disconnected from the servers. Several times a day and as often as every few minutes I get the Network error: Connection timed out screen and sometimes it reconnects, sometimes it doesn't. I am able to tell when it is going to happen as I have a huge lag spike, then the disconnection screen. Other times, I have to restart the client and get the error code 7 issue as discussed here: What have I tried? I've added wurm to my allowed apps on firewall, restarted my computer, restarted my router, reconnected everything. I've reinstalled the program. I've updated all drivers. Only Wurm is having this issue. No other internet-based programs have any problems, and I can stream movies at the same time without buffering, so it's not my internet. No one else on my network is experiencing issues. It has been happening for several days now and is making the game unplayable. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it's happening more and more frequently.

I'd like to be able to host events as an alliance. At the moment an alliance can't really do much except utilize a chat we all got. But akin to the Jackal lodestone or portals that port us to server events, I would like to suggest a portal or some item to port to the alliance capital and back. The capital has pretty much no function at the moment, but I"d love to change that. To avoid exploitation, I have suggestions: Allow the portal to be built only on deeds that are in an alliance, perhaps even only if they're in an alliance with a capital that has one. Restrict use to once a week or whatever amount of time you feel is appropriate. Give it a minimum cooldown between uses from going to the capital and going back. For example 24 hours. ONLY let people port to the capital and back, not port in between all alliance deeds. Perhaps restrict to premium accounts only, even Perhaps a permission on the village to use the portal under Manage Politics.

The spell is aptly named Refresh. I like to climb too, and it is very handy for scaling entire mountains (eventually). The downside is that it can be interrupted while in combat. Same with eating or drinking stamina foods. For those occasions I have the Path of Love's Refresh as a backup option. The Love Effect is also handy for avoiding cliff fights altogether, or disengaging when things go south. A higher skill in climbing would also help. People tell me that Body Stamina has a greater effect, but that takes a lot longer to train up of course. In the meantime, Climbing reduces your stamina drain while climbing by 1% for every 2 levels.

booze or sandwiches can refill your stamina climb naked until you find an enemy, then gear up. keep the inventory open with the armor set selected/highlighted and ready to drag-drop to your character window all at once (shift+click. img below) just carry the armor, weapon, some cotton, booze and water. you need to be light weight for these kind of tasks otherwise you will use way too much stamina

Making people grind meditate for journals is extremely boring. Some people despise meditate.(too ADD to remember timer and walking around and such) The other stuff is all worthwhile content (besides killing an animal with catapult which shoudl be replaced with destroy a wall with a catapult) We should have the option to opt out of one of the selections on journals. give people some options to take at higher levels. Some people dont wanna level fishing past 70, some people dont like to meditate. Some people dont like to do rifts. Some dont hunt dragons. ETC There should be a equally hard option that doesnt force people into a experience they dont want to have to repeatedly do to advance. Make us try a little bit of everything but dont force us to get in depth at everything.

Hard thing is that'd be a crapload of individual models. Maybe still allow placing on shelf for customization, but also add slots (like alchemy thing) where if you put 1+ book in, it will fill in the model on that particular shelf with stock books. That way you can fill out the shelves without taking too much of a performance hit.
  38. 1 point
I think it's less flexibility needed, and bringing eyes in to the system from people in the game. The journal could be a totally invaluable tool for the new starter experience, giving SB and other bonuses while being a more hands off way to providing rails to the game experience, if needed/desired. A lot of this journal is pure fluffer, stuff that adds nothing to the experience other than a lazy timesink because it wasn't thought deep enough. It could really use with more clarity and better mouse over descriptions, with that first point in mind. Remove having fishing three times. It's currently a very interesting yet flawed system, and not nearly beneficial enough to learn and wade into and grind long term. Once is more than enough. Change rifts in the final tier. I think given how much the community widely hates rifts, it needs to be a lot lower. Make it rift points instead, lower the number drastically and put it in a lower tier. Lower 90 fighting a tier or two down. Fighting is a slower grind but it doesn't need to be in the final tier, it's overall a bit weird. Introduce alchemy/natural substances into the journal task list. Transmutate tiles I think would be good, meaning somewhere on deed you're likely to use that to get the resource tiles you'd like on deed. Meditation is a very valuable skill, but I think it needs to be bumped up one tier for level 11 on a path. That's a very long, slow task.

Just popped onto test to look around. Midnight starts are amazing - the sky and therefore the landscape is quite bright even in the middle of the night, I suppose it will be tweaked back for the final version. Maybe because the moons are very bright? Just an idea, maybe a the celestial bodies would be more feeling like part of the sky if they would have a slight halo around? The choices we have for the appearances of our characters are extremely limited at this time. Long hair essentially doesn't exist (for either sex), darker skin is pretty laughable in that the range is basically from sour cream to mildly sunburnt and nothing darker... One of my favorite aspects of Wurm is how beautiful the landscapes are, and the wide ranges of options we have in the things we create, yet the faces of our characters (not even to mention there are actually *no* options for their body) have been what they are, unchanged for at least the 4 years I've been playing WU/WO. I saw in the Steam discussion thread that a list of suggestions for QoL and such improvements would be nice; I feel doubt that any single player would call this a horrible idea? Like I said, Wurm's such a beautiful environment to immerse yourself in, it would be nice to feel a better personalization of our characters themselves. I'm not saying to put The Sims 4 levels of customization into the characters, but just a wider range of appealing options would be wonderful. And especially if the move to Steam hopes to bring in new players, I must admit here that I've referred dozens of people over the years to at least check this game out, and regardless of whether they end up enjoying the game and/or sticking around, one of their first "what do you think" observations they've all given me is "Wow, the options for your character's face are very limited."

Would like to be able to make the interior walls plaster and then paint them. okay that's it, see you in a month or so when you do NOTHING about it. I know youre busy making stabby fighty stuff. I could see legitimate utility for it, when dealing with less common materials. Say, you built a building from marble, but in the course of building it, you tapped out most of the high quality the marble veins near your place. You want to rebuild, but your marble veins are all low quality. Tear down the old building, preserve some high quality marble, and mix it in with the low quality marble to improve quality in the new building.

You have your assumptions of same group taking down all the uniques but wrong, there are several groups competing each other, even single players and luck is going back and forth. That is making the whole process interesting. Additionally just because you don't like to travel, search or pull a team together why is it needed to take away that type of fun from others? Should I constantly complain because I don't like rifts? No. It's my choice to participate or not. Do I "lose" moonmetals and materials that way? Yes. Should I get them just because I also play Wurm? No.

GM Deed Maker (4.1) Ok this mod is for a GM (power 5) to make more than 1 deed for that character. Wave your magic wand and create some deed stakes, activate any item, stand on tile you want deed token, right click a deed stake and click make GM deed. That is all. There are none of the normal checks, so I would hope if the GM wants to resize/rename and such they would keep in mind the normal checks for making a deed, like another deed nearby, token to close to water, buildings and so on. Properties file has 1 option to change, the amount of gold automatically added to upkeep, it is a float value. so decimals. goldupkeep=0.5f so default is 50s, half of 1 gold. This is the Beta release, I have had this running on lan with no issues, a volunteer live server has had it running for a few days, no issues have popped up yet. Putting it on a test server would be a good idea first to see if any conflicts with other mods and such. New action: make GM Mayor. activate any item, right click the settlement note in inventory and click, make GM mayor. This will make you mayor of that settlement and can change all aspects of deed as usual. ---=== Auto make someone join a deed ===--- New item in game can only be created by GM with wand called "Village Welcomer", just drop it on deed. A player can then have any item active and get a new action on this "Village Welcomer" called join deed and it will add them to that deed, the only thing it checks is time between joining deeds, there is a 24 hour default time from leaving 1 deed to joining another. In properties file 2 new entries. InvitorID=131322 InvitorModel=model.creature.humanoid.human.child You only need to change InvitorID if it conflicts with another mod item id. Model you can change to what ever model you want, make it a dragon, a tower guard, a templar, a chair if you really want, default is just a man wearing rags. I didn't include a list of all the models, there may or may not be a public list somewhere already. Examine on the item will read. Activate any item, right click me and click Join Deed to join this deed. *NOTE* There may be conflicts with other mods, this is because the other modders didn't check if mayor exists before using information from mayor, poor coding practices really. If you find a conflict with another mod kindly ask them to add in a check if mayor exists into their code. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjnBltNOSFjCgk9lnoUxtjbrRlCh Rift Event (event spawner) new item in game called "Altar of Anubis" it acts like an altar as in you add items into it then sacrifice and the items get sent to Anubis, this increases the power of the Altar, when you get enough power you can activate the altar as such and spawn the mobs. Default properties file is set up for rift mobs and items, there are 3 ranges of power, so people can do a lower power if they are weak or they can go all out and summon big stuff. properties file craftable=false #new addition in v 3.0 multiple settings that can be applied to items individually using Data1. #goes by the Data1 value of the item from 0 to 9. #when created default value is -1 and if unchanged it will use settings for 0 anyway. #data1 value of 0 settings #amount of power needed #low, medium, high powerneeded0=100000,200000,400000 #number of mobs in that group spawned. #low, medium, high numberspawned0=15,10,5 #rarity, 0 = normal, 1 = rare, 2 = supreme #low, medium, high lootrarity0=0,0,0 #distance from Altar mobs can spawn. #10,10,10,10 will be an area of 21x21 which includes tile altar is on. #don't use 0, that would be just silly. #north, south, east, west coords0=10,10,10,10 #mob/loot ids with a , in between and no spaces. #as many as you want, server will just randomly pick from those listed. highmobids0=109,111,108 highlootids0=1102,1103,1104 midmobids0=110,112 midlootids0=1102,1103,1104 lowmobids0=106,107 lowlootids0=1102,1103,1104 Video now out dated. 3 actions for players, they can choose to spawn low, medium or high. Changing the Data1 value (0-9) on the altar will change the settings used for that altar, corresponding to the properties file settings. new reload config for GM, so settings can be changed while server is running. https://1drv.ms/u/s!AjnBltNOSFjCgmppICUkq-nc-W4Z
