Please return rifts to 3 waves only and stop mobs from teleporting, this has done nothing to "enhance, make more fun, or add to the pleasure" of rifts, but has instead served to annoy, aggravate, and waste the time of 95%+ of the players I have talked with at rifts. For example, the typical rift: wave 1+2 take 15m, wave 3+4 take 90m+. This is HORRIFIC game balance not to mention design. Why should I bother showing up to anything but wave 4 for the journal ach which is what most people attending rifts need. Why are rift mobs so incredibly difficult to hit even with good to great combat skills? What was the reasoning for giving rift mobs 100CR ? When summoners don't teleport away from us at rifts and we can kill them without needing to chase them down at least once or twice, is this a bug or a feature? When will rifts be revisited/fixed/done?

[11:33:04] You will want to polish the canopy bed with a pelt to improve it. [11:33:19] You must use a file to smooth out the canopy bed in order to improve it. [11:35:41] You must use a mallet on the canopy bed in order to improve it. To this: [11:33:04] You will want to polish the canopy bed with a pelt to improve it. [11:33:19] You must use a file to smooth out the canopy bed in order to improve it. [11:35:41] You must use a mallet on the canopy bed in order to improve it. This would make it easier for new players to find out how to imp things. And it helps with imping when you can't hold the item inside your inventory.

My two copper coins. 1. Not all players who pay subscription get the same experience. You neither should be coddled but neither the game design should be for people who either don't have a job or have a lot of free time on their hand to find uniques. I can't find time to get to rifts due to work, let alone look for dragons if I have that 1% luch for them to spawn during my free time. Uniques are just as time gates as rifts are. This is bad game design, plain and simple. "You have to play between X-Y hours or you don't get your prize." What the hell is this? A gacha game? 2. Most uniques spawned are found within hours. It is a standard practice to pen them and kill them. It has been reinforced for years. It wouldn't be a problem if they were made immortal and immovable from moment of spawn for at least a week. 3. If they were made like rifts, with dragons spawning mobs (Dragon guards?) and people would be able to get scale based on a DKP system similar to rift points, it wouldn't be an issue. People would have the chance to get their scales without making them private. I'd make Dragon Killings set up in the weekend and they would take 48 hours. Moreover, to give people and equal chance I would put in a cooldown so you can't get more than a max set of DKP per month so people won't abuse them. Hell, go all the way for meritocracy and make scales non-tradeable. You want that armor, get your own scales, can't sell them and earn your piece of dragon scale set as it should be. No wallet warrior system there. 4. I never liked the system of uniques to be honest. It's way too RNG-ish. Wurm has too many RNG systems already and end - game content is probably the worst offender. Whether it used to be Valrei scenarios or current dragon issue. Just make a system where people have to earn them. As long as you can trade those items or allow alts to participate in hunts, NOTHING will change.

Sure, we've all run around with a chair equipped for the fun of it, but what about the more mundane objects that look absurd when equipped in the hand? I'm simply asking for the grasp point to be updated so they look a little less crazy. As an example, here's my priest with her picnic lunch waiting for her ride.

For new players, I've set up a BSB and an FSB and am setting up a large cart to have some materials and tools that might be useful for relatively new players to take what's needed and leave the rest for others to share to help them along. The site is on the east-west highway that goes along the northern perimeter of Haven's Landing, and if you're in need of a pelt there should be a few in the large cart there. Also there's cotton at the site to share for healing, and the tools and materials (wooden plates, kitchen knives) for making salads (pumpkin, garlic, lettuce in the FSB). I'll be logging back in there after tonight's maintenance cycle finishes (was just booted out by it) so make use of what you need and let me know if it was helpful here. Good luck all and have fun!

Please let us have house tiles on ground floor without any walls or posts/columns/poles. In other words, let us remove the outer wall plan when tile has been added to the building. So that in the picture below, the two tiles would actually be part of the building.

The big issue here is that it makes the assumption that you need to "no life" to find uniques. That is ignoring the elephant in the room, which is simply making friends. Of course, this certainly won't be an option if nobody likes you, which I suspect is one of the biggest driving forces behind threads like these.

So the other half has been ordering coloured gravel for a project at home and it got me thinking,. why not in wurm? Lets have more choice of gravel to fancy up our gardens! We could use for example the shards we have in game already. Use a stone chisel on slate shard to get slate chippings ( black gravel ) Same with marble and Sandstone maybe have the sandstone chippings dyeable so we have marble = white slate = black sandstone any colour you want ( with dye ) gives us more options and gives sandstone another use.

I would really, rather not have more rift like events... Uniques encourage use of different items and skills, and reward you for your effort. People complaining that they're too rare or difficult are missing that that's the entire point. They're end-game content providing end-game items, simple as that. If you're unable to partake in said content, put in the effort so you can. Make friends, get the necessary gear, and find uniques yourself. If you don't have the time, you still have the ability to purchase items from the people who do. And it's not even like people NEED drake/scale. You can do fine in pve with just cloth armor and studded leather in pvp. We don't need new armor.

Currently the carrying weight is hidden (in plain sight) on the character window, which causes confusion for newer players as they suddenly move really slow and can't understand why. I suggest since there's major changes coming to the UI anyway, please add a way for this to be available either displayed in the inventory window indicating current weight, max carrying limit, and speed penalty, or add it on mouse-over of the inventory icon. Additionally, an item count in the inventory would be helpful, though not absolutely needed, it's a nice to have item.

Seen it mentioned numerous times in the past, but it would be nice for new players to be able to hitch one animal to a small cart then lead it. Keeps them on foot, makes early gathering less painful, and simply gives the small cart an actual niche use.

The warmaster turrets were kind of nice touch, at least a step in right direction. Same with the rift camps at random locations (although I have not found one myself as of yet, other people have). But I feel those camps could be expanded further, given a better purpose to find and destroy them other than the materials. What if.. for every camp the players shut down before the actual rift opens, there will be less mobs to slay? Or have the camps have some one-use blades or throwables that instant kill a rift ogre or something.. or something that helps in the final battle somehow? And maybe some spell or tool to locate them, I mean *cough* Xanadu *cough*... The 4th wave is unnecessary, we had just the same "fun" standing and waiting for them to die off with 3 waves. Now it just lasts longer... which nobody really needs. I mean, you only need 60 points for the highest level, but the end scores are usually just a little shy of 200.

Rare to see the community so "on the same page" on one issue, but yeah I agree as well, 4 waves is just insane. Rifts scale to number of players anyway so at 4 waves that's a lot of wasted time for nothing but a journal goal. +1 please redo rifts

Xanadu's issues are not the same as every server's issues, however they are issues in need of resolution. Simply saying "Xanadu is different" is not a valid rebuttle, it is just an attempt to deflect from a poor argument. Actually, "find" is certainly not the word I was looking for, "spawn" was the one, since that is the course of action I suggested, which you would know if you actually read the thread and weren't just trying to make petty snipes to push your opinion (i.e. the status quo is amazing, please don't change it). Larger groups do not, by virtue of size alone, lead to more "coverage" in less time. Indeed, one well equipped and knowledgable player can cover more ground than two fools any day. Furthermore, the argument of "go out and make friends" is short sighted, you're simply arguing that more hands makes less work, but you're ignoring the time limit and competitive nature of that work. Knowing more people certainly helps, but really it's not just about making friends, it's about making the right friends. You need folks from a wide range of timezones who are willing to metagame and generally a very dedicated player group. I've not argued that such a group shouldn't be rewarded, I've simply argued that such groups are not the only players who deserve endgame content and more varied content should be included.

Yes, please. Ideally, I'd like to see it customisable similar to combat, with different colours available for tool1, tool2, etc (no need to specify what specific tool or material is needed, just keys)

I like the idea, just not the sandstone one, I'd prefer that to be yellow gravel, otherwise we'd get bright pink roads. You know it's going to happen.

Yeah, it happens to me too. Was very curious to check how new hi I going... @Nicroliswhen you run choose client shortcut Test Preview Client and Test Client are listed. If preview that clearly has new hi because of loading screen wasn't meant for us to use it should be removed from list and just regular test client left. But a shame that we can't get a glimpse of new ui on preview test client

I also just want to take a moment and express my deep appreciation for this games amazing community. I've been playing Wurm for over 15yrs now and to have so many people tune in tonight and raise the bar yet again for highlights for my time in this game is truly something special. Thank-you. See you all for Wurm Wednesday at the same time next week!!

It now reads: If you have lost your steel and flint, light a campfire with a wood scrap & a kindling. Place a wood scrap inside the lit campfire. When the scrap is hot, remove it from the campfire, and right-click on your forge, oven, or other fire container to light it. Hope this helps.

Bdew, So I've spent a bit of time arguing this with you, but I'm going to put it to rest here. The mods added to Wurm Unlimited have stemmed from plenty of ideas on the suggestion board, and just because a modder did it too, does not mean we stole an idea. The only instance where an idea was directly taken was after Budda worked on the Archaeology journal work you did and asked your permission to include it in his update of it, which you freely gave. I have always appreciated your work on modding and Wurm Unlimited in general, and have thanked you several times throughout updates for the hard work you have done. What I will not tolerate is you continuing to push a false narrative about all your ideas being stolen when they were taken from the suggestions board beforehand, and we have spoken at length about this whole situation. I'm going to consider your attempts to further shed Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt as deliberate trolling attempts, as I have given you all the information counter to it.

I personally don't understand the expectation of support for a buy to play game to continue indefinitely. Wurm Unlimited was sold years ago and was featured in the humble bundle for a dollar. Yet people expect for the company to continue to develop it until the end of time. The game is still available and in working order. It is stable, can continue to be modded, and provides a full experience to anyone who cares to play it. It hasn't disappeared in some random black hole like so many dead mmos out there, so the sentiment that they screwed their community is completely wrong. Whats more is that the fact that they were giving the same updates to both games while WO players had to pay a subscription and WU players did not, it nearly killed WO. I am surprised they stopped pushing updates to WU, but it was inevitable if we wanted the company to continue to operate, but by no means did they screw the community over by doing so. You cant expect to pay a dollar and expect development to continue forever indefinitely including massive updates.

More social? Give sermons a chance to get a rival god mad and spawn a valrei mob on top of the sermon group... Those are sadly extinct anyway. No more afk sermons after that I say (evil laughter fading slowly)

This is a bad idea in the way you currently have it. It automatically pops up? Like kat said that would be annoying when looking around places with lots of placed objects. If you were to stick with this, it would be best to implement a radial menu. Hold your mouse over said item, hold hotkey down, radial menu pops up, move mouse over needed action, let go of the hotkey button or click to initiate action. Also I am curious, wouldn't that require requests from the UI everytime you scroll over something, so if you moved your mouse in a heavy area with lots of objects, would you end up getting performance drops? Radial menu:

Problem is, i know plenty of people who would want to play there, but only if The servers stay permanently seperate. This whole “may or may not be connected” mindset turns them off completely however and they wont play.
  44. 1 point
I am 100% fine with the server clusters never linking so long as the new cluster remains popular. the purpose of this new cluster is to benefit the players there, not to benefit players on the freedom cluster.
  45. 1 point
dude that is the whole point. keep the new cluster seperate. new players are more likely to enjoy their experience if they are with other new players and not 10-15 year old accounts. i get that you will not enjoy being seperate from this new cluster, that is understandable, but it isnt about you. it is about increasing the player base.

It's actually unlikely that the Steam servers will be merged with the existing servers. Only in the case of the Steam release completely flopping would that happen, otherwise they will remain separate. Rolf and Retro have both clarified this in the past.
  47. 1 point
Except that the release of Wurm Online on Steam is not a separate product at all, just a different launcher/storefront and new servers (and with it we're pursuing the goal to make the game more accessible beforehand, which applies to all of Wurm Online). It's really a reach to assume our stance on anything else based on the decision to not provide WU with additional content, as that has been a running discussion in our team for quite a long time, and not one taken lightly as you assume. We can rehash the entire argument a dozen times, and it's always going to end up with the same result. It was a very tough decision, but it's final and we're long past it. You've heard our reasoning of it and there's nothing else we can say or do - keeping WU up to date with WO is simply not sustainable for us anymore, among other things. Permanence of Wurm Online servers is one of the most important things about the game, and so we're making sure that the business model is sustainable enough (cough cough WU) to not ever need to close any servers or make any decisions on the level of limiting support of Wurm Unlimited. This has always been one defining feature of WO, and any news regarding WU isn't changing that and isn't even remotely related to that part. Side note, this is actually where Keenan's work on AWS works out great - scalable hardware makes our running costs not depend on the server amount as much, as we can run the less populated servers on less powerful/expensive instances.
  48. 1 point
Steam will be the same game as non steam. It won't be a spinoff like WU was. It's like saying "celebration won't be updated but the others will" The problem with an indirect quotation is that it wasnt actually said. We've stated many times that there are, can be, and will be differences with WO and WU, it's a separate product with it's own targets, support costs and goals.
  49. 1 point
I don't recall saying anything about having a problem with experienced players playing WO Steam, that is to be fully expected. You are counting on quite a few assumptions to all play out for your scenario to come true. It's easy to say "well what if this, this, this, this and this all happen" and then write up a dire ending. I do not think WO Steam will fail, so I'm far from worried about your doomsday scenario.
  50. 1 point
For all games development stops or greatly ramps down eventually, that's perfectly normal. They've given the game free updates for more than 4 years now. Most games these days are lucky to get 1-2 years of updates and even then a lot of it is in the form of DLC, yet with WU all updates have been free. As someone whom also owns WU I have no objections to future WO updates not making it to WU, I had honestly expected it to happen sooner.
