since the patch where 1ql = 20ql or some garbage, shield skill grinding has taken a huge hit due to the ql being curved up for shields, but the damage they take isn't, which leads you to being forced to use a 1ql shield at higher skills when in the past you could have used a 20-30ql shield that can take some hits, the 1ql will get broken insanely fast, i've had a 1ql shield go from 0-100 dmg in under 30 seconds against a traited troll. please add a way to opt out/make the skill check use the base ql not the curved ql/make the curved ql also reduce the amount of damage the shield or whatever take.

please Edit: OVERALL SO WHAT IM SEEING from this debate MAKE IT LESS AFK IN GENERAL -Changes to amount of faith given? -Maybe less people needed? -Make it more grindable? -or just make the alts 2s again and revert again (maybe cap faith at 30 faith or something so less abusable idk) -less miserable in general its not "making it easier" making it less afk as yall say WURM ISNT afk SO WHY ARE SERMONS -rare altars statuettes more useful?

Please add log curbs to the game, a new possible way of using (low ql) logs.

on topic, as Ayluin said no matter what you do if it is released public then it will be countered very easily. Kind of off topic, why do people use autoclickers or even that mod that basically plays the game for you? Maybe people want gain without actual effort, maybe they want to feel like they are better than someone else, who actually did put in the effort? What reward is there for people who use macro/bot? they gain skill while they do other stuff? Is that a game issue that people feel they need to gain skill without putting in effort? Why don't these people play on a 100x server where they can hit 70 skill in minutes? Many questions which I for one don't know the answers to and it is probably different for each person any way. End of the day it is pretty much impossible to stop, I would assume most mouse macro things are basically doing mouse clicks which is what a person would be doing, so determining if it is a person or a macro would come down to the time between clicks and so on and not the actual input itself. As for movement, as a player I could stand still for an hour at a forge, I keep everything close to hand and not have to actually move, I have 4-5 things open on screen and just move stuff around when I need to, so just detecting movement wouldn't work anyway. I think it used to be part of WO or maybe it still is, fatigue, where if you play for to long then you gain no skill, this approach can work of course but at the same time a player who does actually play for a long period of time would be negatively impacted. Maybe another approach would be a skill gain cap per day, can only gain X skill in each skill a day. I am sure there are many ways to approach this issue but detecting if someone is using a macro would only work part of the time, it would be something a GM would need to go visit the player and basically watch them to try to determine and then it still isn't actual proof anyway. I recall many years ago a GM asking me about someone doing something weird and they couldn't work out how the player was moving stuff around and crafting and such without an event message appearing for the moving. That is something you would only know if you played 2 chars at once, even though everything is written in event window for yourself it doesn't broadcast everything to other players around you. Well that is just my 5 cents worth anyway.

I'll go ahead and submit the interior of my mini 3 tile house at the stream deed. That's probably the most cozy looking place I've made in Wurm. Included is a small album showing a few different angles of the outside and inside: https://imgur.com/a/NbNxkpP

100 faith isn’t the big skill with priests. That’s channeling. +1 to making smaller-scale faith gains viable or making sermons less of a pain (make smaller groups worth it, or make it where you don’t have to schedule your time slot to preach). (sermon life sucks)

--- Hi everyone! To celebrate hitting 2,000 followers on Twitch we are holding a special episode of Wurm Wednesday on the 20th of May, 7pm GMT10+ over on Twitch. This will involve a whole bunch of fun giveaways, the winners of which will be announced on the night! --- The Giveaways will include: 1 Gold total in Ingame currency 3 Premium game keys of 30days 1 Drake Set Rare Tools Enchant Vouchers MORE! How can you enter? There will be 3 type of prizes drawn on the night. Those will be live key word giveaways, points giveaways and the screenshot giveaway! For the live key word giveaways during the stream you will be given "key words" which you'll need to type into the chat which will effectively be your raffle ticket prize to enter that specific prize - there will be multiple of these on the night. All you need to be eligible to enter in these is have a Twitch account and be able to type in the key word when given. For Point giveaways, from now until the draw you will be able to spend accrued "Emu Points" on raffle tickets which are redeemed through Twitch chat at any time (even when the stream is offline!) The idea behind this is to allow people who watch the stream but might not be able to make the night have a chance to win something fun. "Emu Points" are earned through watching the stream, you can enter as many times into each raffle as you like. These entry's will then be put into a numbered spread sheet which I'll then do an ingame /random roll to select a winner for live during the stream. If you're unfamiliar on how you can spend any of your "Emu Points" I've included some pictures below: For the Screenshot giveaway, I'm so excited to get this all done, I wanna get started now. As such I want you to all capture "Wurm made Cozy" in a screenshot and post it in this thread! Then on live on the stream we will choose our favorite screenshot based on the aesthetics, creativity and coziness. The person who manages to capture the essence of Wurm Coziness best will win a rare awl and 10s! (I've got some extra prizes for runners up too) Where can I watch and what will I be watching? You can find the stream in the spoiler link below. We will be going live at 7pm GMT10+ the Wurm Wednesday stream is an independently produced stream on Twitch where we discuss the Wurm Online experience, updates, showcase village builds and share our mutual love for this game. On the night we will be checking out a very special Village build, talking about some of the other wonderful content creators in the community and of course the Giveaways. Please note that Wurm Wednesday is for mature audiences. I hope to see a bunch of you there. This amazing community has formed the bedrock of my streaming audience and I'm looking forward to being able to give back and share some fun times with you all!!!

slowing them down to where a fully barded hh cart doesn't outrun players on foot would be a good start, unbarded hell horse carts aren't really a problem as the horse drops in enough hits to not be broken just look at bison vs hell horses for carts, bison are tanky af, but go like 12kmh max? so they are not broken

If you want to have sermons, you need a community. In my alliance we decided to move all priests to one deed when we wanted to grind faith, we still do the same whenever we get new players trying to grind up. You shouldn't be able to pay your way out of making friends in a game that is primarily (in my opinion) about building communities: villages, alliances and kingdoms.

No.. you pray - you get a tick.. no matter the size; meditation is rng ###### that just annoys you if you do not get any gains for 5 or 10 tries through the day(again bad example..)
  11. 2 points
Also, what’s the big deal with manufacturing priest alts? They have to be paid to be useful and with no more character selling, there’s really no point to grinding a ton. Meditation you can do wherever you are. Faith you have to get a big group of people/alts stuck in 1 location.
  12. 2 points
We could also just slow them down in general for pvp servers, but removal is always an option if that isn't enough.

It felt a bit over sharpened, the character rending wasnt great, and the water effects were meh. All that being said MY GOD THIS IS BEAUTIFUL. Always loved the Unreal engine. The quake engine series wasn't too bad either.

So you're saying that pretty much nobody that plays wurm can come because we're all fairly immature.

Yeah it's such a core mechanic we did fine without it for over a decade

I would like to see hellhorse carts get removed from ALL pvp servers.. And before ppl say there is nothing wrong with having hellhorse carts on pvp servers... There is a reason the devs removed that option from the Epic Server restart... Because they get used as a massive safety net in pvp fights... Because they take no nerf to speed even with bardings on the hellhorses.. Which makes this a must for any pvp server to keep people alive..

Or add a new dimension to the game by introducing battle/companion pets such as in other games where you can train them. I know some people would view this as a "pokemon thingy" but in RL animals were used to augment warfare efforts, from hunting dogs to war elephants or war horses trained to bite and kick. Besides that, pets, if done right can add a nice new playing field to the game. An idea would be you'd choose a main pet and slowly train his stats up to help you in combat or with chores. Stat examples: Body strength: for combat damage. Body control for evading better moves or additional options unlocked. Body stam : how long can your pet perform a certain action effectively. Mind: Responds faster to commands, helps around the deed with minor chores = can be trained to carry fetch some kindling. Each of those stats can be trained over time using various manual or automated actions such as : using a training doll for the pet to train his strength and body control. Throwing a stick or an item to train his stamina. Teaching him to sit, paw, roll over for mind. Also you can add various layers of protections and items for pets such as : body armor for a dog, spiked collar (increases melee damage). For those that really want to preserve their animal they can either earn "res stones for their pets" through in game actions, such as reaching 50,70, 90 taming or can buy them from a trader. Say your pet dies in a rift? You can res him up if he dies or apply the stone beforehand. Imagine going hunting and bringing your loyal wolf with you to distract a troll or a bear to tank a spider while you kill it. For pvp I'd disable this system since it would create a new meta involving the best type of mob out there, how to train it fast and use it in pvp.

My first shed; thanks to Emoo for talking me into finally giving Wurm a go. I like it quiet a bit so far!
  21. 1 point
Would be interesting if they just merge regular character and priest as one . If you want to do things against your faith you can turn priest option off , but can not turn it back on for 24 hours or more .. Rare alters giving more faith should be a option same as rugs for med ..
  22. 1 point
wrong again, now they even added rug rarity bonus. making gains insane actually i started using a supreme for grumpyman. rare statuette... altar? priclessssssssss
  23. 1 point
Anybody can be you or better; same thing for crafting accounts.. as long you get high enchanted tools, sleep powders and time.. you can outpace anybody using less and grinding less daily. What is the actual point to grind many priest accounts now with absolutely no value to anything, you can make 5 new priests every month or 2.. as it is currently.. but you have no use for them, can't sell them, and it's cheaper to buy new ones to extend your faith or other grind after the 2nd month... it's just odd cycle of washing alts through the priesting gring mechanics.
  24. 1 point
well your examples are poor. Weaponsmithing you grind, meditation you dedicate timers and still use tools. Sermons? you afk as long as you can near an altar in a disease zone. Poor counter argument, maybe make it a challenge but something better than afk fishing 2.0

Vynora missions were added back to freedom some time ago, but wild/chaos was left out, despite being part of freedom. I don't see any reason why chaos would be different as there's no valrei scenarios or anything here, and all kingdoms can do all gods missions afaik. Add vynora missions thanks.
  26. 1 point
+1 i am thinking the same. Or they can just add another set of items with prefix "starter" or whatever like that, that scaling can work only of them, if there's not another way
  27. 1 point
Get rid of Vynora champ then if Vynora doesn't seem like she suppose to be on Chaos. Allow 2 of one of the useful ones.

Auto-clickers are easily detectable by logging a player. There is no mod that exists for this. Any attempt to write a mod would just be counter-acted by existing cheat mods. i.e You write a mod that says afk period enters after X time. I change my bot code to move forward by X/Y position every X seconds/minutes, etc. No one writes these mods because they can easily be bypassed once the source is released for public use.

It is time for another surprise attack... wait.. no... I mean, it is time for another Random Enkounter!!! I know everyone has been waiting on pins and needles to find out who April's victim will be... Yes I said April! All I had to do was a little pencil work and 'lo and behold its the 43rd of April! It works! Don't question it! Today's Random Enkounter has been sprung on Chaos! I ended up in a village full of people and as soon as I shouted out my ceremonial "GREETINGS!" <Enki> Do you have any idea what is about to happen here? <Wilca> enki in local, something going to happen. we all going to die lol <Enki> CORRECT! Wilca wins! Snoo requested a 1v1 with me, so I gave them an option. They could take on the Enkounter for an assortment of random items, or Snoo may attempt a 1v1 against my ultimate fantastic armor and skills for the naming rights of a single item. They chose the former. They would face 7 challenges, First challenge, Find Enki within three minutes and wave at him. (hint: I was a tall kingdom banner in the corner of a cave) Wow... So much for the Empirical Robe of Perpetual Health, guaranteed to keep the wearer alive and healthy even when walking across lava or leaping from an inconvenient cliff. Challenge #2 With the announcement that 2 spaces between sentences is no longer valid... A whole lot of spaces have just lost their jobs and they are looking for revenge. -unleashed about ~60 space fighters of varying colors and flavors - question How many Ham spaces were in the fight? They got 3 attempts first attempt was incorrect! Second attempt... if they get it wrong I erase the horses! Snoo got it correct with a count of 20 ham spaces. I'll put down the ACME horse eraser ... for now. Challenge #3 Chaos used to be a far more lush and untamed wilderness, and at that time what was it called? Embolism called it correctly with 'Wild' Challenge #4 How many people can you accommodate in cave with 7 sailing ships in it? Wilca got it right with 35 as the sailing ships can accommodate 5 people each Challenge #5 What is a satellite train? Three of them responded with acceptable answers from Spacex to trains of satellites. Challenge #6 Fight off the horde of 420 Satelliters.... yeah I'm just winging it here... way way out in left field... after spawning the first 2 names one and two I decided there was no way I was going to make it to 420 so I just grouped them up into bigger things like ogres. Strange, I honestly expected it to be more of a challenge for them... Very well then.... Challenge #7 In this trouble age of the next great Pandemic I thought it was about time we had a little break and took the fight back to the virus. 19 Greenish Covids stood before the fighters... Who would survive! Sadly, Lyft was not wearing approved PPE gear and died during the battle. Unfortunately, the rest did survive to my dismay... oh well, still a better time than counting how many moons are in the sky. For their winnings! 50 sandstone slabs to split among them, a barrel of tin, a supreme bookshelf, a barrel of omelets and muffins and the press used to extract the omelets from the chickens, two barrels of water, a barrel of syrup, and a barrel of real lemonade! A spear of rare stabbing, and a supreme leaf rake! Keep an eye out for May's random Enkounter coming up on some random date between now and September!

I would be a lot happier if you could sell to token whilst mounted or driving a cart. I find it annoying to have to disembark before selling the corpses I've collected in the vehicle. The current system of token interaction is 'bitty' and inconsistent - we can interact with the token in other ways whilst mounted, such as open the bank, or pay deed upkeep, so I think we should have the ability to sell to token from a mount or vehicle too.

I had a situation in game where a wild dog ran up to me and stared at me for the longest time. For a moment it actually felt like it wanted to be friends (much like what will happen in Red Dead Redemption 2). Alas, it was merely pure coincidence that I happened to be standing there as it did it's random walking around. However, it got me thinking about how cool it would be if dogs actually had a little bit of AI to give more immersion to the game. Maybe it could work like this: 1) When an untamed unleashed dog notices a player within a 20 tile radius, it runs over (like in the video). 2) It stops 1 tile away, facing the player and uses it's idle standing animation. You get the message in Event: "An aged dog stares at you with large soulful eyes" 3a) If player ignores the dog, it continues it's random sequence of animations that it usually does (that include stopping, running around, sniffling, barking etc) after 60 seconds of being ignored 3b) If player right clicks the dog and chooses option "Scratch" or "Pat", the dog will stand looking at you for 60 more seconds. Each additional pat/scratch extends this time a further 60 seconds. During these scratches, you get a message such as "The aged dog wags it's tail happily and licks your hand" 4) Attempting to tame the dog during this 60 second time frame, gives a higher chance of a successful tame and a lesser chance of dog going aggro 5) Upon patting/scratching a dog 5 times in a row, a new option will show in the menu "Play fetch". If you have a branch in your inventory, you get a message in event such as: "You throw the stick 5 tiles away and the dog runs after it". And the branch is removed from your inventory (like when you throw a snowball) If you don't have a branch in your inventory, you get the message "You will need a branch to throw!" The dog walks 5 tiles away, stops, then returns back to you, dropping the branch back into your inventory In the radius of 20 tiles: If there are multiple dogs + 1 player, only 1 dog will perform this action within a certain time frame. If there are multiple players + 1 dog, the dog will choose someone at random If there are both multiple players and multiple dogs, only 1 dog will choose 1 random player to do this to within a certain time frame

I don't use the canal, but I'm willing to either make 2 or supply the parts for 2 more to be made. If I make them, I'd need someone to come pick them up and deliver and SECURE them. I'd also like the locals to be sure they stop by and repair them if the area is not deeded. If someone else would like the skill for making and improving them, I can supply the bricks, gold and mortar to have them made. I'll need some time to make the parts, so just let me know how you'd like to proceed. Heritage sites are not protected from decay so the community needs to help out by either repairing or having essential entrances and exits deeded.

Honestly, one area wurm (as an elevated MUD) is lacking in is mob interactions. This would be a nice proof of concept to implement that won't impact balance. Also, more dog breeds please!

I agree 100% but would go a little further, Breeding cats and dogs and getting different breeds would be fantastic, but should come with a new skill. I would also like to see rabbits! Then why not have dog kennel, rabbit cages the list could go on, and lastly lets have ponds, with fish! or give us glass making ( wink wink ) and then we can have goldfish!

Would definitely be nice to have more interactive opportunities with mans best friend. The ability to breed dogs and receive various different breeds would be very nice with this, too; would kill to have a Leonberger companion to keep company and interact with on deed

Best thing is to try and make/buy a small boat (a rowboat is possible and easy to be made at any level, and because you don't plan to take much stuff with you, it will suffice). Take your tools, armor, weapons, some food and water, then go out and pay a visit to other servers as well. Each server has unique communities, some more friendly, some more distant, but you can find helpful players anywhere. Each server has plenty of free space where you can deed (and I strongly recommend you find a spot at water edge, because why not? it will provide you with water, food (fish), rice and reed farming, dock, boats and easy sailing wherever you like); there is enough waterfront where you could deed. Xanadu has the widest landscape, and you can find a spot without neighbors on a radius of an hour, if not more, but it has a few cons as well; smaller servers are more balanced and still offer you a lot of opportunities to find that place you can call "home". Of course, I would recommend to you to come and visit Pristine, which is the best server of all The N-W area has some great spots, and I would recommend you to check around G11 (no close neighbours there, and worth being seen). Either way, wherever you will settle, I wish you good luck and a lot of fun!

If the concern is the balance of risk vs investment, just make the alliance ones a larger investment. Sure, pay the 100+ silver to declare the design, but then have to buy/use an item from the trader for EVERY ITEM MADE with that design. Suddenly the investment is less profitable if someone is wanting just a design that is different than the freedom one. Plus, instead of freedom players just being expected to fund the PVP aspect of the game, they're helping to fund the game in more ways to ensure longevity and continued development with an additional cash sink. Or, just make blank versions able to be dyed to make players happier. The Freedom design is old and boring and players want options without being forced into PVP. If they want designs, cool, head to chaos. If they just want color, let them dye things.

This doesn't answer the question as to why the change doesn't apply to enchants. It just makes the distinction between enchants and a spells. The question is why does there need to be a difference in the two healing methods? Is it really just because it's not limited to priests, and the nerf was targeted specifically at priests? I struggle to understand what makes enchants exempt from the change. It has the negative of making the system harder to understand than it already is. It creates an inconsistency where it's better to be healed via life transfer than by spells. Not a very compelling argument. If the goal is to make it so cure light/medium/heavy cannot be cast on vehicles, then simply add a check to the precondition method that ensures the player is not on a vehicle. If they are, decline the spell and give them a message saying "you cannot use this spell from a vehicle." It would achieve the same goal but be way more clear to the player. Instead, you've left a loophole in the game where players can use janky UI interactions to accomplish the exact thing you wanted to remove. You didn't solve the problem at all with this change. You just made it less interactive. Sure, I understand that's the goal. But how does the changes made to Tangleweave help here? People will be spamming spells more frequently now that less counterspell is available. There's so many better options available: Add spells to Fo or Vynora that give players a shield against incoming magic damage for a certain duration. This would require the opponent to dispel the shield then cast direct damage. Give shield bash a 100% chance to interrupt spell casts. Make special moves inhibit the target's ability to spell cast for a certain duration. It just feels like the way Tangleweave was nerfed didn't make a lot of sense. It felt instead like removing Tangleweave as a spell entirely, which just opens up a load of new problems that you're setting up to deal with in the near future. No opinion. ... So... you want more RNG in combat? Like... it did less damage then Frostbrand/Flaming Aura. Significantly less damage than the other enchants against almost all armor types. The compensation was that it felt better because of the increased accuracy. Now you want to backtrack and take away that increased accuracy? I mean I guess while we're at it you might as well just nerf Truehit into non-existence as well since that increases accuracy too. Nimbleness as well I guess. It just doesn't make sense. This was another method by which people could get more accurate hits and smooth the RNG in combat. If it's a problem for PvP, then introduce a PvP-specific adjustment to it. There's no reason to punish players who invested in a Venom weapon on Freedom because PvP players are using it. This is the one change that I am adamant should be reverted. Venom should be designed specifically around not having to deal with glance. If you need to nerf the damage, fine. But removing the only thing that made it good and enjoyable to use is unacceptable. No opinion. Tangleweave can remain at a several minute cooldown if you reduce the cast time back to 3 seconds. Granted, it would help in ensuring a large number of priests do not entirely shut down spell casting for a smaller force. Favor change doesn't make much difference because gems are a thing. Make Tangleweave effective, but require intelligent usage. Finally, please pick a different way to adjust Focused Will and the Cure spells. Don't make them require sifting through a character UI screen anymore. This is just another step back on what was previously progress.

My two cents are,I don't care if it takes 1 year or 5 years, but make it be something I can work on my own time and terms and depending on my powers! don't make me go spend 5 hours on something that is on your terms and time. From my first day on the first rifts I said they are a bad idea, boring and waste of time. You could come up with some kind of choices.. go to 100 rifts or grind 5 skills to 99 or hunt 100k mobs..
  47. 1 point
This topic has been discussed since journal got added lmfao I think generally forcing any playstyle is a bit lame, but in this case the rifts forcing people to be social isn't really the issue here. Rifts have a place in the journal, but not as they currently are. 100 is too many, it needs to be a more reasonable task if it's to stay and maybe not even in the final tier. The best of these goals, are tasks where we can make them what we want them to be. Sure, I could have done the 25 veins goal solo, but instead I'm working for free to do a canal project on Xanadu in order to both help people and get the goal done. It's this open ended approach which is what's a big draw to the game. And with the age of the game and the type of playerbase it's held, along with other factors, you can't really strike a good middle ground for both new and old accounts with the journal, and it's not like the goals can be shifted fairly even if the journal were different based on playtime. For a very small select amount of players, 100 rifts might have been a good way to force them to do more to get that cape, however new players and players who just didn't enjoy rifts are now being shafted. And let's not pretend that the reward for this tier is crap, as much as the cape design sucks, it's still a very unique item and the affinity gain rate boost is golden, telling people to simply not do it is not a valid argument. I get you're frustrated on how a feature you like is constantly crapped on by the community, but a 2 to 3 hour whacking gallery really isn't very fun for the majority, and it seems like we're getting no changes to the mechanics of them anytime soon. I've personally said for a while, rift number for the journal should be lowered, but the position of it in the journal list needs to go lower also. It's very hard and weird to balance for the final, most powerful tier of the journal and there's a fair few features and mechanics which got snubbed around the journal already as it is.

Nope it doesn't break anything, a new token spawned would be just cosmetic and doing nothing, you need to adjust some data before it starts working. Best is to spawn a new token and enter the village id into the Data2 field by using your wand => set data. Compare it with other tokens it works great and easy. Village id can be found in the GM tool.
