So I mail to the right person Also, in the future, you can secure/plant snowmen I believe, so they can't just be stolen if the player doesn't have pickup planted perms (most of my deed roles don't have that permission checked)

First of all, let me say, yes it is our own fault for things getting stolen if we do not lock things up but Harvest Moon is a village on Release run by Ultradude who invites anyone to come and join the village. He goes out of his way to help anyone that wants a new home. It has been a great place for new people to come and be given a house or land to build on and help to grow and skill up until or if they want to go out on there own. No one is forced to do anything they don't feel like doing and are supplied with pretty much what they need to get started. I went to visit a friend there a couple years ago and have spent much of my time there, helping out others. We have a great group of villagers that welcome new villagers and go out of their way, I believe to make new people feel welcome and get them started. I shared a house with a friend that is not playing anymore but our yard is open to villagers to use the snowmen as needed if they are new and need snowballs for larders or for people that just didn't make it on for the winter to collect them. (Yes we will give a new person a larder if they want one) We are a close community and I feel there has always been respect for other villagers to not take unless you ask first. About a week ago a new villager was added to the village. His/her name is SAMMYEF. Right after joining the village I guess SAMMYEF decided it was fine to steal from fellow villagers and walk off with the 3 snowmen in my yard and possibly another one we kept in the community cave. I was away on Xan at the time. I don't know what else is missing at this time. I feel bad that now our community feels upset as we never had issues like this before and to be honest has upset everyone. I have not been able to get in touch with this person and don't expect he will return the items but you should be aware that this person is not someone you might want in your village. Again, Yes I know if it is not locked down there is nothing that can be done and it is my fault for being to trusting and wanting to help people. Just be aware. I'm sure I will get a lot of mail saying it is your own fault but I expect that but at the same time if I can save someone else losing things, then it is worth it. Thanks for listening. Tria

So what have I been up to people may be wondering? More tweaks to server security. MRTG and NGINX (web server) working by default (so we can see stats and all the juicy information people love!) - Oh and it's all behind HTTPS now Automated user management for each deployment. Work started on the server monitor Work started on allowing us to profile servers as-needed We're fast approaching the end of the work needed to stand up a server in AWS that has all the same features as what we have in live. Also, a little terminology! What is a deployment? When working with AWS, I was originally using 'cluster', but I realized the confusion since we have 'epic' and 'freedom' clusters. Technically both of those are 'live' clusters, so it wouldn't make sense to use the term cluster. Instead I've opted to use the term 'deployment' and refer to our test cluster as 'dev' and our soon to be live cluster as 'live'. So if you see me talk about deployments, that's what it means. What is an instance? An instance is the root host machine that we create in AWS. One instance can potentially host several game servers, depending on the configuration we apply to them. Each game server runs in a container and is separate from each other. So what is a game server? Think of Celebration or Deliverance. It's the collection of game data and configurations needed to run a Wurm server. Okay, okay. So what is a container? Containers are smaller than an instance and only run what is needed to provide a base operating system to whatever application is running inside them. They help separate applications from each other. The instance mentioned above is the host and each host can run many containers, each with a different purpose. In our case we run containers for Wurm, MySQL database, and the Nginx web server for each game server. So picture the cloud as the ocean, an instance is a boat on the ocean, and a container is a crate. Your boat is in the ocean with many crates loaded in it and each crate is holding something specific. (Unless your boat is a sail boat, then this analogy falls right apart.)

Today, I released a map software update (v 1.62). When activating the coordinate grid (press "G") you can now also see the "map regions" as used in mission descriptions. There are 9 regions: northwest, north, northeast, center west, center, center east, southwest, south, southeast Map regions are shown by dashed black lines and slightly colored area overlays. I also added a new experimental function: we can now display special deed info when the mouse pointer hovers over a deed symbol. (This can be useful to inform about special resources, like mailboxes, Epic portals, market stalls etc.) Please contact me (Yaga) if you would like to use this special feature for your deed.

Based on the current info, I'll let my priest de-prem and just not bother. None of the old gods are useful enough to justify paying an extra premium. This may change if the spell lists are changed enough to make them more universally useful. It's not hard to see why nacho is the most popular, given how useful they are for general maintenance utility.

When riding a horse the sound of the horse sounds choppy, also I cannot hear mobs walking if I'm not looking at them which I think is related. It is the same problem as in the thread linked, as well as a post on steam bug reporting. Steveleeb has a link to exactly how it sounds. I have tried many things including: Changing all client settings, not just sound Different headphones/speakers Updating Java Updating windows Updating drivers Changing system locale running it on a different PC running windows 10 instead of 7 As well as some others that I can't remember. I would like a solution or other things I can try changing that may be causing it.

At 03:50 server time an issue occurred that affected the skills tables for both creatures and players. This caused an issue with reading skill data and possibly saving skill data. The issue was brought to my attention at 04:07 server time when players complained about having no skill and being unable to complete actions as a result. I had first attempted to repair the table while the server was running in order to preserve any data from skill gains that I could, but this only made the problem worse - the table seemed to have vanished due to the repair failing. Xanadu was brought down at 04:20 server time. At this point I was able to save the binary data of the skills table in order to preserve it and initiated a MySQL restart. When the database server came back online the table was restored and repaired. I verified that skill data seemed intact by picking a few players who had complained originally and finding their skills to have appropriate values. Xanadu was brought back online and available for connections at 04:50 server time. Due to this issue there may have been a period of about 30 minutes where skill ticks were not saved. I will be meeting with Samool in the morning to discuss compensation for the downtime and possible 30 minute skill loss. Most likely we will be doing 5 hours of sleep bonus on Thursday's restart. Exactly right. I'm glad someone is calling out the dev team. It's time we all stood up and called out copycats tbh. The only copycat that annoys me more is Halo, which is clearly just ripping off Half Life 2 which created the FPS genre. I'm amazed nobody called them out for copying being an FPS game Wait a minute....

I don't recall at what rate, but you gain points for every prem since December 2013. Capped at 52K points from past premiums, so that people aren't dropping like 9 magical chests once it goes live. I imagine the system works the same as the yellow potions, giving you points per month. So if you prem on the 25th, you'll get some that day, and then some on the 25th of the next month. Could be wrong though.

i personally dont get why should we get something from before the system was implemented anyway. I buy premium so i can play the game, anything on top of that is a bonus. if i get something after the new system is in game, thats fine, but why should i get something for the past 3 years i played when there were no such thing as loyalty shop back then. it just doesnt make sense.

I think it would give wurmians a chance to add color and help individualize deeds if we had blank kingdom banners we could dye. we already have flags and the short banners would be nice to have the tall ones as well. This would allow us to add a splash of color to all those tall buildings.

Try visiting the SW quadrant of the map. Usually a lot of mobs in my area lately. But I do agree that the lack of hunting grounds is problematic and 50% of my SB is just wasted trying to find stuff to kill. Would be nice if we had a pure hunting server: can't build on it, can't mine, but you can drop tents, hitching posts and make camps.

Look on the bright side, if someone beats you to the mission, you can make lots of birdcages.

I am aware its been over a month, but are you still in need of tools? I'm thinking of working on blacksmithing a little so I can probably make you a starter pack. Let me know!

What made my Wurm start difficult.. Well, first off... Was watching my husband play this insane game with so many menus, so many right clicks for EVERYTHING. It took him 3 months to convince me to even TRY to play. Even at that, everyone was in green... You stood on a cart... There were no quests to complete. He finally got me to sit down and complete a couple walls on his first house for him while he went to take a shower. Then he told me about the beautifully colored unicorns. I caved. Made an account.. Then struggled through right clicking every action, making a halfway presentable deed for us, 20ql chain armor... 20 ql iron long swords. Then our neighbor to the south, she was sweet, would give us advise and such, but then her friend, Miss Goth legend herself, Pomona, would show up and dazzle me with her different clothing and edgy ways. Lost my gear hunting with some of our first alliance.. No maps, just a general direction and apparently an angry troll. No worries though.. I got my stuff back and we put that troll in it's place. Even if it took 6 of us.

I dunno it's a tough one, leaning towards either Fo or Lib at this stage since I can't follow myself anymore 🤔.

Sent over an assortment of ql40-60 tools for you, all of which are impable as your skills improve (higher ql won't help you a great deal right now since your skills are capped and your repair skill won't be high enough to make super high ql last too long). Only thing I didn't have was impable hatchets, so I sent you a couple of starter ones you can wear down, and hopefully someone else will send you a decent hatchet that can be imped.

Yup we should be able to buy a single weta per player on freedom from jackal points :S All males.

Not staying. Sorry. Too much disappointment with the direction of this game now. EoL for WU support, priest changes, going back to the dark ages, after all he time investment. Just have zero faith in management now.
