Hello Wurm students! Today I'll be doing a news post on the current news going around the starter areas. As you can see up top we've got our fancy new title font and style ready to rock and roll from our original, in house design team. The font cartel has long been knocking at Wurms doors, demanding that we submit to using Times New Roman or Arial and to them we say "No! We will make our own, new and original font!" Enough of that, let's focus on the most important thing....The news! Priesty Bois stand triumphant! After an overwhelming amount of angry replies and envelopes filled with smallpox, we have decided to throw the community a lifeline. Libila will be replaced on Freedom with Nacho, effective the Jan patch. We hope that those Libila fans out there understand our difficult position, but between sea creatures turning to zombies on land and the newfound mycelium farms on Celebration and Pristine, we have decided that Libila is the best God to take the fall. Journal gets more pages! With the Jan patch we will also add two new tiers to the crafter journal. I have the pleasure to be able to tell you early what one of these tiers entails and give a rough guideline what to expect in the entry after, due to it still being work in progress. Destinations Unknown Found: Create a fantastic item Improve an item beyond quality level 99 Repair 6250 fences, floors or walls Create 5000 liters of wine Catch 1000 fish Mine an exquisite gemstone Perform 100000 actions Reward: A random tome! Titles Unknown: This tier is fluid, meaning it changes depending on the player! This tier is all about the tome you win. When you win your tome, you get a single charge tome automatically used on your account with full benefits and penalties. From there, you'll finish this tier by using other tomes to advance your title until you have went through all possible combinations. Reward: The ability to choose your sorcery title! We would like to note that using the incorrect tome is likely to brick your journal, and we will not be reversing this if you do it. So you've been warned! Wurm Online follows in the footsteps of The Witcher! No, Rolf has not sold the lore of Wurm to CD Projekt Red for a few Euros! We are happy to confirm that Netflix has chosen Wurm to be the next game to get a dedicated series on their platform. Auditions for roles are still ongoing, however we can confirm that the director has already signed on to the project. Soon, we will have a thread Q&A with director M. Night Shyamalan to answer all of the questions. Confirmed roles so far are: Ryan Gosling - Protagonist Sean Bean - Deedmate of protagonist Willem Dafoe - The Goblin Leader Benedict Cumberbatch - Venerable Blue Dragon Danny DeVito - Angry Old Troll Adam Sandler - GL-Freedom jester Jim Carrey - Darwin Grant MacDonald - Oblivionnreaver Enki - Takeshi Kitano You wanna pizza me? We will be introducting pizza ovens to the game, which will take those endless amounts of sandstone and marble bricks you all have around deed. Using one of these pizza ovens adds +1QL to your pizza output, with rarity boosting that effect. Expect low market prices for these due to overabundance of rare bricks. They do look pretty though, so maybe it's time for some cool new deed decorations with them? Wurm got a 25 (s)killstreak! As a bonus way to absolutely demolish the mobs on Northern Xanadu, we will be adding killstreaks to the world of Wurm. Each kill you get with your weapon of choice counts towards a total kill count logged in event tab, and once you hit 25 kills, you can unleash your inner rage and kill everything within 25 tiles! This counter is reset each time the player is hit as a balance countermeasure, and the killstreak effect when used will give a random skill tick the same way Mindstealer would. Each mob gives a different killstreak name, so get hunting and discover your inner beast. Nacho is always watching Saving the biggest news for last, we will be removing the Libila colossus as a craftable item and replacing it with the colossus of Nacho. As there is currently no model due to our art team being too busy making Jackal skins for troll clubs, branches and mallets, we are opening the floodgates to you, the community! Design how you imagine Nacho to look each time you picture him, draw it to the best of your ability, taking as many hours as you need in your paint programs and post it here. To help your minds visualise how the demigod himself would look, I will be showing off our first submission from our very own Retrograde. We know it's pretty much already a perfect idea of how the colossus should look, but feel free to attempt to prove us wrong. Entries close in 5 days from this post going up, so get arty people. And that brings the news to a close this quarter. We hope you understand our position on the upcoming changes and will help us make Wurm the best it can be. Thank you for your patience with what I'm sure you'll agree, are the best quality of life changes you've seen posted in a news thread so far. As always, keep on Wyrming...

I honestly don't understand why people want to be able to have a single priest that does everything, or a single character who can do anything. That was never the intended result; different kinds of priests exist for a reason. At the point where you expect to be 100% self-sufficient and never rely on alliance/village/kingdom members, or trade for things, you might as well be playing a single-player game.

It's not a possibility at all. There's zero point to us making Wurm Online a Steam only game.

Good evening everyone. I am brand new. When I mean "new," I mean I haven't even logged on yet. Of course, since I am typing this from a Hospital bed on a tablet, that isn't really possible. My "name" in this topic (Mewt) is my Online Name though. Here is why I am posting: I don’t know when they will release me from this hospital but I have been wanting to start socializing with other players. I just don’t want to annoy people with my newbishness as I have no experience in WO yet. I have questions though, so I appreciate your patience and understanding if my questions are stupid. This game was released a LONG time ago, and I have never played. A friend of mine recommended it HIGHLY to me, so I decided to give it a try. However, since it was released so long ago, I am concerned about your active population… do you all still have a good population? I *HONESTLY* mean *NO OFFENSE* with that question, I swear to gawd. I just am concerned whether or not I will waste my time. I love socializing in game with people. That’s what the basis of MM in MMORPG is for. But if this has dwindled in population, then I humbly ask that you let me know. I mean no ill will – I just like being part of an ACTIVE player base. Since I haven’t logged on yet, I am not able to purchase “Premium Time.” What does premium Time actually give you in game? For PvE, what server do you recommend that I go to? (For PvP, I’m rolling on Chaos based on what I have read on the Wiki) Again, I *HONESTLY* do not want these questions to offend anyone. I just want to know whether or not I should invest my time. When I like a game, I put a LOT of time into it. I can as I have very recently become disabled and am no longer employable. A certain other game (which I will not name because I don’t want any bad reactions from Forum Admins) got 60 hours from me in the first week I played it. I guess I should introduce myself and give a bit of a background on myself . . . I served 20 years in the United States Navy and retired in 2008. I loved being at sea so much that I turned “Shore Duty” down twice which put me on three ships in a row, back to back. I served on the USS Houston (SSN-713) when I was a Submarine Sonar Technician (STS). I then changed my “job” (which we call a “Rating”) to Hull Maintenance Technician (HT) which is on Surface Ships. HT’s are Welders, Damage Control, and part of Engineering. From there I served on the USS John S. McCain (DDG-56), the USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), and the USS Vandergrift (FFG-48). I requested a Ship again but the system wouldn’t allow four ships back to back. So from there I became an Instructor at the Center for Naval Engineering at the Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, and finally I did a “boots on ground” tour in Iraq at Camp Bucca, Naval Provisional Detainee Battalion II (NPDB2), but my retirement was at Great Lakes, Illinois where I was an Instructor at. After I retired, I became a Plant Manager at a production Facility with about 130+ employees. In 2016, I went from being a contributive member of society to a parasite. I contracted Stage 4 Throat Cancer which I have been fighting ever since and is also why I am writing this post from a hospital bed due to complications. I have to go to the Hospital an average of one to two times a month due to Septic Shock. The saddest part is that I am now “used to it.” When I say “parasite of society,” I mean it. I am not a “victim” of this. I’m the idiot that smoked 2 packs a day for 30 years, all the while knowing the risks. There is no one to blame but myself in this, and the real victims are my wife and children who have to watch me wither away, sitting in the corner, drooling on himself, becoming a mere shell of who he once was, and them knowing they can do nothing about it. I say “parasite” because I went from being a contributive member of society to being a leach collecting Social Security Disability. That’s why I say “parasite.” I’m used to helping others, of being a positive influence. Now I can’t even stand up without my poor five-foot wife giving me a helping hand. Pathetic and p***es me off at myself GREATLY. The ONE positive thing I can say about this is that my children are very anti-smoking now. Which makes me happy. You know my name, “Mewt?” It’s because I literally AM a mute since the “Total Laryngectomy” surgery I had in 2016. I am using this play on words and use that as my Avatar / Name in every game I play now. There were two tumors in my neck the size of a golf ball each, so they had to rip my throat out. You know those folks that wander around with holes in their necks? That’s me – a “Human Pez Dispensor.” This is why I am “Mewt.” I want to make something very, very clear again here . . . I am *NOT* a victim. I am not letting you know this stuff for “pity.” Frankly, pity turns my stomach and sickens me to the core, especially when I know it’s my fault and that I have earned every moment every time I struck my lighter on the fantail of a Ship. I give you this information for two reasons: Number one, I believe in fully introducing yourself to people that you want to become friends with and being completely honest and open about everything. Number two, showing others who might be in the same situation as me but are remaining anonymous about it, that no matter what the Doctors tell you, you can fight it. You have to stay positive and know that we have your back. They gave me six months in 2016 and told my wife, and I quote, “We suggest you transfer him to a hospice so we can make his passing as painless as possible.” Try to imagine the grief and pain they just gave my wife . . . I gave Satan a “Spiritual Middle Finger,” told him “Not today, but when I do come I suggest you watch your back.” And started fighting the disease instead of giving up. It’s now 2020 and my Oncologist calls me a miracle. If you are in a similar situation, please believe me when I tell you, you can beat it. No matter what they tell you, you can. Please stay positive. I and God are on your side my friend. So, the Gaming Community is very, very important to me. They become friends, not just Avatars in a virtual world. Because of my condition, my world cannot be empty – thus the specific questions I asked. An active gaming community isn’t just “cool,” for me, but *actually* affects my mortality rate by givimng me a fun time improving my spirit and morale. =D So, there it is folks. Me, a completely open book. I REALLY hope this disn’t annoy anyone – and it is honestly a pleasure to meet you all. I look very forward to your replies. Thank you and have a wonderful day! - Watts, Nathanial W. - Mewt p.s. – I wrote this in Word first to try and avoid spelling errors. But if there are any typos I apologize as I have permanent tremors in my hands now due to all the darn Chemo I have had to have.

Based on the current info, I'll let my priest de-prem and just not bother. None of the old gods are useful enough to justify paying an extra premium. This may change if the spell lists are changed enough to make them more universally useful. It's not hard to see why nacho is the most popular, given how useful they are for general maintenance utility.

I stay for many reasons, but probably the biggest are the people. There are many games out there, but few with the sense of community that Wurm has. And, for those of us who sometimes just don't do people well, we can get on a horse, in a boat, or head out on foot, and get lost. I can pretend to be a farmer, or an architect, or a landscaper. I can't, or won't, do these things IRL, but in Wurm I do. Also, despite the fact that these changes will hit me hard, I do appreciate the devs constant attempts at improving the game. It has evolved so much since I started, and by many standards I am still a newb..Sometimes their attempts force us to rethink what we do, or how we play. In other words, we have to evolve, just like the game..

Wurm feels like home to me. When I log into my deed, I am among MY land, MY trees, MY enclosures, MY buildings, looking at MY ships in MY harbour. And why do they all feel so close to me? Because I made them all, exactly how I wanted them to be. I also bought the land and I upkeep it. My land is not some instanced cubicle to decorate that doesn't really have any real estate presence in the world. It actually takes up a chunk of Wurm - my own personal piece of it, and it interacts with it in real time. You can sail by it, you can come in to visit (I have a guest house! ) and you can utilize it in so many different ways. There is a farm there, a shipyard, vineyard, brewery, horses, homes, bridges, kitchens, and soon even bees. My stable has a chamber where I keep my saddles and extra horse paraphernalia. It really is home and I never found another game where all this is possible to such a degree. Perhaps such a game has recently come into existence, but meh... too late for them. Wurm is home already. I am happy here. Additionally - while I understand that there are players who are dissatisfied with them - I absolutely love the Wurm mechanics. I have embraced all the updates and content additions through the years. I have observed the developers understand and maintain this uniquely Wurm atmosphere and play style and support it with their updates that keep that feeling alive. I enjoy how in tune they are with the game feel. Wurm is so much better than when I joined and in so many incredible ways. Again, not a sentiment shared by all - I understand that - but I truly believe it. Have all the updates gone along my wishes? Not all... for instance, I am still not sure how I will adapt to this new third person Wurm that is tearing at the very fabric of my soul. But I will have to find a way. You can't have it all. But most updates were simply amazing. Retro's Valrei International is now my favorite literature, right up there with War and Peace, because of the additions it announces on regular basis. In Wurm, I feel the freedom. I can do what I want, go where I want, experience what I want, and none of that is dictated by a raiding schedule or in-game obligations. In fact, I can leave for a month or not log in on those busy days, and things will still be OK! When I come back, my Wurm is waiting. Just like the theme song promised. I simply cannot explain it, really. I love riding through the forests near my deed and seeing how the trees have grown. I love seeing the sap on the maples and knowing that today is probably a good day to pull out my bucket and the wax sealing kit. I love exploring old deeds and reminiscing about what may have been there. I love sailing (yes, I am crazy like that!). Even the grinding, which is boring and repetitive, somehow doesn't bother me in Wurm. Probably because when I do that, I can hear the birds chirping outside the window that I built, the horses which I raised moving by the fences I made, the water shimmering under my ships in the harbour which I personally shaped. Also, because of how valuable high skills become when you had to work for them for some time. In Wurm, I take things slow... sometimes too slow. I have no raids to attend, no crazy schedules to maintain, no quotas to meet. I have no one to outshine with my gear. In Wurm, CoC or WoA are the desirable enchants, not Swords of Thousand Truths with Super-Cala-Fragalistic Nuclear Chain Lightning charges. In Wurm, my rare leatherworking tools are my most cherished possessions. To me, Wurm is real. And I have only scratched the surface. And now, here I go getting all nostalgic about it. Look what you made me do! But I used to be a crazy raider, power player, intense grinder, high-level competitor, massive guild leader type of a dude. Not anymore. The Wurm Retirement Home is my speed now. And it feels soooo much more fun! So, stop by when you are passing by Garden of Fo on Celebration and say "hi". I will probably be doing something on my deed - something in preparation for doing something else, so that I can do something else entirely which will eventually allow me to do what I really want to do. And it'll probably take me a week just to set up. But I'll be loving every minute of it!

Make it Possible to Auto-travel by way of the highway system. Basically Idea is for a player to be able to pay a minimal fee to travel on the highway system from Point A to Point B. The Traveling can be done by 1. Hitching a ride with a Wagoneer. Great for new players or player who may have died without a spawn location and had to respawn at a beginner deed. 2. Using your own Mount/Cart/ Wagon to Travel. Could Help with the dilemma of going to Events such as impalongs/ Holiday events or Slayings without a mount. This will help with the issue of people wanting to attend but not wanting to leave their mount/cart/wagon behind to be summoned. For Using your own Mount/ Cart /Wagon if more than 1 person is in vehicle then I'd suggest a Discount say a Large cart with 2 people going to say destination would 1.5c/1000pcs but would still have to be paid for by the commander of the vehicle. My suggestion would 1 copper per 1000 tiles of Travel with a minimum of 1 copper fee. But this fee will include Auto-travel to destination chose on the highway system. If you "disembark auto-travel" you still pay the fee. Auto-travel includes No attacks by aggressive creatures. On Pvp Servers it doesn't include no attacks from other players but would include no attacks from aggressive creatures not controlled by players. Player may Disembark auto-travel at any given time but in order to re-embark auto travel they must travel to the next waypoint and Pay for travel to their new destination. I also suggest that auto-travel speeds up travel on highway system by atleast 25% with Options to Pay a Larger travel Fee to make the Travel Faster. Like For Slayings, Events / Impalong traveling........ If its the wagoneer it can still take multiple passengers... who are going to same destination * Fees / Tiles /% are just a suggestion but was trying to keep things affordable for even the newest of players. The Fees/ Tiles Ratio may need to be Adjusted for Different Servers.. I was using Celebration as an idea when I did this and came up with an ideal fee.. But for Larger Servers like Indepence or Xanadu the it may need to be 2000+ /1copper

I did not want to put this in CA or Town Square, but it is related with the upcoming steam release of Wurm and the future possibility/threat that we all will forcibly land on steam some day. Now, as I understand the "architecture" of the Valve padded cell, I do not see the possibility to create alts once Wurm is launched on steam, other than creating a new account for every single of them. Even that might require hiding the IP address, e.g. over VPN or similar. Am I wrong with these assumptions?

If yoyos/locks/cordage ropes/cloth squares are going to be relevant again are we going to get locksmithing and toymaking imbues? ( could imbue string to up creation ql of yoyos ) Currently ropemaking benefits most from imbues ( no toymaking/locksmithing imbues and you can't imbue loom ).

I am sitting on 274,000 100ql chopped veggies. Yes, over a quarter million. That is currently 1,370,000 favor. They have stated that they will rebalance the favor, and are currently looking at between 2-4 favor per 100ql. So at the low end I'll have 548,00 favor, a loss of 822,000 favor. At best A loss of 274,000 favor. While not happy, I am rolling with it. There are changes being made that COULD improve the overall game.

Pvp is dead, but given how full of toxic folks it was, that was inevitable. We can blame ourselves for that. Pve is smaller than it was once, but there are still a lot of active alliances around. I suggest getting in and playing a bit to get a feel for the game first - if there are deal-breakers for you (graphics, style, whatever), at least you know not to waste any further time. Wurm is free to try, in that you can create a character and play, but you can't advance beyond basic skills without paying premium. So, try the game and form an opinion - it costs you nothing. Then, if it seems worth the effort, you can find a community. For my money, the friendliest communities are on release and pristine, but that's mainly because that's where I've been based most on freedom. There are active groups everywhere, if you look.

A pleasure to meet you and a hearty welcome, There are still some fairly active enclaves on the PVE servers, in spite of the general population decline. PVP is nearly abandoned. Many are choosing to wait until the Steam server fresh launch, which will afford more opportunity for pioneering and PVP alike. I would like to thank you for your many years of service, and commend you for your tough and nasty attitude in tackling the challenges you face. I think a positive "going forward" attitude is a great asset and key to beating otherwise dismal odds. IF you do choose to give wurm a spin, premium is not necessary until you wish to get past the level cap of 20 skill. You can explore the game and its skills at your leisure within those constraints, and see how you feel without monetary risk prior. The game itself moves at a slow pace and nothing is gained without effort. I would like to invite you to join us, even temporarily. "Us" being a smaller group located in the southeast of xanadu, wurms largest server. The server itself has the most people on it, and more social interaction globally. At the very least, personally I would be glad to assist you in getting started and answer any questions I can. We have quite a bit of spare land on the Island for you to muck up as you please. You are welcome to use it as a starting point and an area to learn before moving on if you wish. Be Well, Nygen

Hello Wilczan, thank you for taking the time to respond. If you read my post again, you will see what makes me think I could possibly ask for a refund, I never said I "must" get one. Just to clarify, it was a request based on premium paid at a time when the parameters were set and I assumed this would remain the same, especially given the fact that people pointed out the OP nature of Nahjo when it first became part of the game, and nobody seemed to take notice. To add to this, the many responses from players about player gods went unnoticed, so obviously someone could assume that the situation was no longer under threat of change.
  19. 2 points
Thanks Cas No harm in asking a refund since these changes have not really been explained nor discussed. Getting assurances of some sort of "rebalancing without proper explanation or an option to give input does not promote trust.

Not staying. Sorry. Too much disappointment with the direction of this game now. EoL for WU support, priest changes, going back to the dark ages, after all he time investment. Just have zero faith in management now.
  21. 2 points
Actually, the intent and implementation of the priest overhaul was to take what we learned and benefited from of player gods and removing them while tweaking the original gods to be similar (which is glaringly obvious by some cases such as giving black light aosp and a life transferish spell, and white light web armor) to remove situations where you would need extra priests for one or so spells (or proxy alts in caves for pvp). The only reason really that there isn't already a single priest for freedom that does everything is the weird lore situation that gave white light 3 priests to split the spells among while black light gets one which means neither side can have a single priest that does everything for balance reasons

This. It also helps to have the presence of mind to understand that mechanics are going to change and those changes are not personal attacks.

Just some thoughts and observations: Wurm cuts a deal with steam, steam requires or strongly suggests certain things/changes. Wurm sells out their loyal players for the possibility of a new player infusion via steam aka dollar signs. Looses loyal players for maybe some new ones on steam and possibly whatever Steam may be paying them. To see such a great game that I've been loyal to for many years go down the tubes over the past few years has been really difficult to watch. Unfortunate decision after unfortunate decision resulting in Wurm bleeding loyal hardcore players for years. It's like your favorite movie (thinking of the three original star wars) that they make a sequel to and then they ruin it by trying to appease the masses by adding a cheesy love plot or some "cute" idiot character that everyone hates (jar jar). Wurm has fallen into the same trap. If you're going roll something back maybe it should be the skill oils that make you able to get 100ql ore with 78 mining skill, or make it so that people from chaos can't come and screw up your server. Roll back all of the beautiful wood textures that so many people loved instead of the current ones that all look like the same bla with slightly different shades. Or maybe roll back the nerfed hell horse hitching feature. No amount of rewards or giving out of tomes for finishing quests will fix the fundamental damages that have taken place over the past few years. And while I'm on my soap box, I want to lament the publishing of WU, it fragmented the Wurm community which has never recovered. In the end I appreciate that Wurm is a business and that there are many competing voices advocating for what Wurm should be in the future. It just make me sad that a game with such potential should turn out the way it has, not unlike many a great movie. Rest in peace Wurm, follow in the footsteps of other once great games like Ultima Online. PS. And if you're thinking "well if they were loyal they wouldn't have left" I'm sure a lot of the people who have left felt betrayed that the Wurm they loved is no longer.

Please do not mess with saccing of Veggies. I have been screwed over before when sacing Wemp was taken away while I had 20k 99ql wemp in my bins. Now I have 20k chopped veggies that is going to be nerfed or made totally "useless". It was a damn painful grind to get my farming high enough to supply my 2 priest with chopped veggies. now I will need grind other separate skills to have sacables for my 2 priest. Back to Cordage ropes? This will probably also be nerfed as anything that is useful is either taken away or nerfed. I thought we want to make the game better and more attractive for new players to stay. The priest changes is going in the wrong direction if that is the case. This really sucks. as a player for over 5 years I am contemplating if I should go or stay. Also please don't just dump the changes on us on patch day. give us accurate info up front. well in advance so that we can at least try and manage the outfall. Another thing, I was so happy to see that a faith change is included in the loyalty system because I made a mistake with the last faith transfer to change my 1 priest to Mag and wanted to revert back to Nahjo. Now that is also been slapped back into my face. Last comment. Did you really think the priest changes would be applauded by must players? I think you knew exactly how this will go down in the player base. If you actually care about us that has sticked with the game for years you would reconsider these upcoming changes.. TLDR; I am not happy how the devs treats the loyal player base. Screwing us over as a reward for loyalty.

Afraid so, I gained ptsd after the brief period we were hunting uniques. Not so much the uniques themselves but the people that we encountered along the way. Wurm used to be a mysterious place that I loved exploring and so many people I admired, respected and wanted to meet. Sadly it turned out to be a cess pit of toxic, full of selfish individuals in sad little cliquey groups, most of my friends stabbed me in the back and now Wurm will never be the same again to me. On the plus side I get to take away with me the most amazing thing, a diamond in the rough, Zorana. We met in the game and have both realised that we found what we were missing in our lives. All the proceeds from sales are going to our wedding which is in May. Therefore, I am not bitter, I thank Wurm for what it has given to me over the years and now with the final piece I shall go and live a happy life. I shall do my best to stay in touch with the few that remained true.

Unfortunately I do not have a lot of time to play Wurm, as I have a busy real life. The chopping veggies was a real game changer for me since I could actually do stuff with my priest I enjoy doing like healing at rifts, and doing other priesty stuff for which I need favor. I don't really play with her as a "normal" character since I have another main to do that stuff. However, the recent changes to favor gains going back to random items where you have to farm, harvest, spin, weave squares and hope for the best, means I will spend a lot of actual time allocated for games, to doing stuff to prepare to actually play the game. Since my Fo priest will now most likely be put into the moth balls where the Vyn (who needs CoC and WOA casts these days, right?) and Mag (only so many strongwalls needed, and chain casting onto enforced walls in my perimeter kinda got boring after three days) already are, as I don't have enough time to go back to gaining favor growing and spinning tons of cotton strings to make cotton squares at a totally random ql just to actually prepare to play the game (before I can actually play what I paid for), I was wondering if I can request a refund on the premium I paid in advance based on the current state of affairs regarding favor gain with chopped veggies? If I paid her month to month that would be fine, I would just let it run out. However, I pay a year in advance. Not sure what the terms and conditions say about sudden and one sided changes to game mechanics but a refund option would be greatly appreciated. (This is on top of thousands of veggies at 99 or 100 Ql purchased in anticipation of many years of fun stuff with my Fo.) I guess what I am asking is a refund for the changes which I do not want to embrace yet paid for a service based on current state of affairs when I paid her prem for a long time to come. Thanks

This game has something that other games don't: a certain degree of dev - player interaction. This stems from the fact that developers are mostly hired from the actual playerbase, and are player advocates first, devs second (yes, even you, @Darklords. I love you, don't be mad >_>). The problem with this, and indeed this is a big problem here in WO, is that players come to expect it as the norm, and thus these kind of threads happen. No, players shouldnt be notified before updates are released, that is what patch notes are for. There are very few games that do it and is not the industry norm, with good reason. Imagine if WoW consulted every update with players? They would never get anything done. The other side of the coin is that players do not need to like said changes and will vote with their wallets when this type of stuff happens. So companies have to choose what they want to deal with as both have their own problems. This time they choose to be secretive and players are reacting by choosing what to play and pay for. Normal business transaction. Nothing wrong with what is happening here. Cause and effect.

As per the game terms and conditions we do not provide refunds. Chopped vegetables will still be a source of favour though, just balanced a little bit better, so please don't think that it isn't possible.

The whole steam thing has me very worried, because I don't want to loose all the work I have done on my deeds and player. [12:57:33] You entered through the portal to Wurm on day of the Wurm, week 4 of the White Shark starfall, 1020. That's 2912 days, 23 hours and 55 minutes ago. [12:57:33] You have played 268 days, 2 hours and 28 minutes. [12:57:33] You have been premium a total of 42 months since Dec 2013. Besides the huge amount of time and effort I have contributed $500+ all brought through the Wurm shop. I really need a cuddle and to be told everything is going to be ok. Some quick ideas... A portal in and out of the Steam version where you can't access the bank from each and can not carry coin. Call the Steam version Wurmonline:The Old World Allow cross version Global chat.

I've enjoyed a lot of my times on wurm, I've been on plenty of adventures... First rifts (our hypothesis worked, and it's why healing areas are around) Early Xanadu days of sailing around the continent on a rowboat offering free mailbox enchants I, with the help of others, planted a forest on release that is still there today Met a lot of amazing people on my wanderings Priested up more folks than I can count Took part in a fair few impalongs, so many LT casts Joined plenty of alliances, and helped with a few projects that magic could help with Designed, and led the initial dig, on a heritage site canal. Oh and stockpiled enough maples to literally cover the landmass of one of the smaller servers. But... Now I wander around and watch things crumble; not the lively death things used to be with new homes popping up around old ruins, but just the slow death of a dying world. Where once I'd ride along roads and see folks continually, now I can ride for a day and see not a soul. Deeds I'd seen stand for years are gone, all that's left is some earthworks and maybe the odd bit of paving. Where once a vibrant community existed, now only ghosts and bugs in the code reside. I suppose I want to be there to see things to the end. Someone who remembers wurm when it was healthy should.

When Xanadu first opened, I had a neighbor with a villager that became disgruntled and left the village after packing up his belongings. He packed up his MR wagon, loaded said wagon onto his corbita, and sailed out of local to the NW about 300 tiles. I believe the MR wagon is still floating in the water of NE Xanadu (F24 if memory serves) to this day. The boat sank, probably every item that was in the wagon has decayed, but the wagon itself remains, likely repaired by every sailor that passes it by. It's been what.... 5 years? Carts and boats aren't going to ever go away (abandoned by players that have quit) if people can just walk up and repair them. I would also love to be able to sink my own ships collecting dust in front of my deed.

Personal opinion here, and I know most, if not all of this has already been said, but the more people the better I figure.... 1) I think ALL information needs to be conveyed on the forums. The streams are great for showing upcoming features, and I still encourage that, but you are probably only showing them to less than 10% of your audience. Most people are not going to be watching your streams or watching them afterwards because it's not as easy as reading a forum post whenever they want. 2) I think important things like priest changes need to be the highlight of the forum post and not as an "oh, by the way..." part of the post, which is what was presented here. It's literally the single most important thing of the update. 3) I think more time also needs to be given between a major announcement like priest changes and the actual implementation. Perhaps something like 2 months instead of 2 weeks. 4) I really want to see this game succeed and I love the priest changes. I'm all for it. But keep in mind public relations are important. They will likely make or break your game. This is not a post directed at anyone. This is my opinion to you guys in hopes that you at least listen and consider all of this in the future.

I think his gripe is that Mag has microscopic utility outside of Strongwall itself. And he isn't wrong.

Are you guys trying to screw us over?
  42. 1 point
@Retrogradeok so besides the fact that you just screwed us over with nahjo.... again.... please explain the veggies changes since im in the process of prepping a huge amount of veggies for my impalong next year this year.... Did i just waste a few gold on my efforts? do i need to increase the amount of veggies available for the event? should I bend over and get some lube first or what?

Seriously... I am speechless. Utterly, totally speechless. I just chopped 100k for one of the impalongs, have another 100k for another impalong ready. .. These people are getting screwed. Completely and totally screwed??? /disbands farm, shrinks main deed.

Starting to look more and more like you are trying to kill WO to get people to switch to Steam version when and if it comes out ... Has the new owners of Club AB had any input to the changes ? Because so far with all the changes coming to stuff you had improved , to step backwards instead ,,, priest changes and followers adding new demy GOD,s just to go back to old god system is odd ... The loyalty sounds interesting , but makes me think of one time loot box depending on account age . Third person view , on a lot of games I find it adds extra lag because rendering you're character is extra processing .... Guess can only wait and see what is to come , best of luck ... Yes I am still subed .

I dont know. I feel the whole changes in this field hasty and poorly thought through. But maybe my feeling only, and granted, I am pissed and feel cheated. Trusting in the continuity of Wurm I just premed my Nahjo priest in December for half a year, now it is stranded and forced to convert somewhere. My consequence is to be very careful when re-preming next time, even on my main character. The recent changes will probably trigger a further sharp fall in subscriptions, which in turn may trigger further panic reactions by the company. Until now I had been cautiously optimistic about the future of Wurm. Now, let's see.

In a Valrei International like 2,5 weeks before it goes live? Don't you think the slating of player gods decerves an own topic at least and maybe letting us know like at least a month beforehand?
  47. 1 point
We're aware it's going to be a painful change for some, but it's something we've danced around for a long time and have decided that it needs to happen. Juggling so many different variations just becomes too much to balance and watered down the importance of the main gods. We want to shift back to the four gods with reliance on their prospective favoured sacrificing items rather than a huge range of player gods and chopped vegetables. I totally get it's a blow for some, but in the long run is better for Wurm as a whole.

I think announcing it in the dev blog is the standard way of announcing changes. Not a side piece of a random topic.

I kind of like chopping herbs for favor as a Fo priest, since it feels rather in-character. So I hope that remains, or that the food affinity bonus is tweaked to be more viable. I mean, come on, if I could reasonably refill my favor by doing a pagan sacrifice of a lasagna or a cornish pasty, I'm all for it. Should probably scale with food complexity and nutritional value.
