Even If we get sleep powders mostly, still better than yellow potions. Everything is better than yellow potions.

I totally understand the concern and I shared it for a while - first person perspective has always been an innate part of Wurm, and it's contributed plenty to the immersion. However TPP is a very long and often requested feature and the lack of it is a dealbreaker for many potential players, so we felt it was a necessary addition. I think you'll like where we ended up with third person though - the perspective provides a bit of freedom but the zoom out distance is not even close to what you'd see in WoW and such, which helps to not make the first person mode irrelevant, tactical advantage wise. Additionally it's as Jaz says, you can't really peek much through walls as it detects that they should obstruct your view. It's still quite immersive really, and I don't think this addition means everyone will switch to third person exclusively - also swapping back and forth between the camera modes is quick enough to use both perspectives interchangeably.

Look at it from the bright side, it sure beats the yellow pots we've been getting for years I'd be happy to get any of the above tbh, instead of the 241st yellow pot

Dont spread disinformation. Chopped veggies are by far the easiest sacable to make, hense everyone just chopped them. 2 favour per 100ql chopped veggie seems just fine. Take a comparison: locks - requires good ql iron to be mined, high locksmithing skill that is hard to grind and in the end you still get random QL lock to sac Cordages - requires wemp (farming as for chopping), then needs very high ropemaking skill (one of the hardest to grind in game) and in the end, you still get random QL rope nowhere near raw material QL. square cloth - farming, then needs tailoring (not particularly hard to grind) to get strings of cloth at random QL, then needs making cloth at random QL again. noone does that, not viable gains compared to time spent. And then you have copped veggies atm. you farm, then reap the harvest and then just chop. basically no skill required and once you have a bit of cooking they average basically raw material QL. Mega easy to spam. So yes, my friend, chopped veggies are by FAR the easiest sacable to make in game.

I really feel you're overthinking this. It's an optional camera angle that accomplishes nothing that wasn't already possible through other means. Trying to see if a forest is clear of mobs? Move your mouse around and look for outlines. Need to know if another mob just approached during a fight? Read the combat log, or turn your character quickly. The camera has appropriate limitations to prevent most abuse, and can likely be straight up disable in PvP if it proves too much of an issue. It provides a nice breath of fresh air in crowded and cramped areas, and allows us to see our characters outside of a tiny window. I understand the first person immersion aspect but you've got to consider that it's an optional QoL addition. No one is forced to use it, but those who want to will finally be able to.

Typo: [16:22:02] You harvest rose flower from the Rose bush. Should be either: [16:22:02] You harvest rose flowers from the Rose bush. or [16:22:02] You harvest a rose flower from the Rose bush.

After reading Oblivions post about making follower benefits better/more balanced I must admit, it feels like just removing the gods pretty short notice is leaving the job pretty half done

Well the gift box isn't the sole thing to get. If you prefer rewards month to month you can have a little fun, but I'd say the other big ticket items would be better long term goals. The concerns about oversaturatuon make sense, they're concerns we had too. But ultimately, if you supported a premium character for a long period of time, even if you no longer use them, you deserve a measure of thanks for doing so. I know this whole change is controversial, but wurm is no stranger to big changes. I know some are rightfully upset and have questions, and rest assured I'll do my best to have answers. Wurmians always band together to support one another when needed, and if people choose to no longer run a priest, I'm positive others will always be ready to lend a hand with theirs.

on the topic of saccables, mag and vyns kinda suck. lib can farm black mushrooms which are 15 favor at 100ql each, and you get a whole bunch of them from planters, fo can use cloth squares which can use tailoring imbues on both making strings and making the squares and ends up being a very nice alternative thats easy to make, and any rare+ ones you make have a variety of nice things you can make from them, mags skill is creation only which means its 3x slower than a normal skill, around closer to 5x slower than grinding an imping skill if you're sweet spotting it, it's absurdly hard to raise compared to the other ones. mag and vyn can only use imbues on the gathering of materials for door locks and yoyos, and neither of these things can be put into a bsb, and have no extra value rare+ except as a meal. cordage still sucks until super high skills too, 70 skill 70ql tool+mats gets you 2.18 favor on average, using a 90 skill 90ql tool+mats gets you 6.5 favor per rope on average, 90ql/90 skill fully imbued rope tool gets you 9.2 on average, and 99ql tool+mats 99 skill fully imbued gets you 12.5 favor on average. pre-veggie saccables are extremely heavily weighted towards higher ql and therefore higher skilled characters, whereas chopped veggies didn't have such an absurd curve due to 1ql = 0.05 favor. even with chopped veggies being a thing, many people find casting to be an chore due to how long it can take to get the materials together to do some casting, making it worse doesn't help.

Seriously... I am speechless. Utterly, totally speechless. I just chopped 100k for one of the impalongs, have another 100k for another impalong ready. .. These people are getting screwed. Completely and totally screwed??? /disbands farm, shrinks main deed.

Please do not mess with saccing of Veggies. I have been screwed over before when sacing Wemp was taken away while I had 20k 99ql wemp in my bins. Now I have 20k chopped veggies that is going to be nerfed or made totally "useless". It was a damn painful grind to get my farming high enough to supply my 2 priest with chopped veggies. now I will need grind other separate skills to have sacables for my 2 priest. Back to Cordage ropes? This will probably also be nerfed as anything that is useful is either taken away or nerfed. I thought we want to make the game better and more attractive for new players to stay. The priest changes is going in the wrong direction if that is the case. This really sucks. as a player for over 5 years I am contemplating if I should go or stay. Also please don't just dump the changes on us on patch day. give us accurate info up front. well in advance so that we can at least try and manage the outfall. Another thing, I was so happy to see that a faith change is included in the loyalty system because I made a mistake with the last faith transfer to change my 1 priest to Mag and wanted to revert back to Nahjo. Now that is also been slapped back into my face. Last comment. Did you really think the priest changes would be applauded by must players? I think you knew exactly how this will go down in the player base. If you actually care about us that has sticked with the game for years you would reconsider these upcoming changes.. TLDR; I am not happy how the devs treats the loyal player base. Screwing us over as a reward for loyalty.

Personally I ALWAYS hated the Player god mechanic. It was always broken and unbalanced, I think it's just a shame that it's taken the devs to realise this was terrible idea in the first place. Ongoing a focus on just 4 major gods makes complete sense and hopefully result in a better balanced game in the long-run both for PvP and PvE. Whilst I can understand some peoples frustrations on not being able to access some important spells (because certain player gods were more blessed than others). The fact that one god has so many crucial spells for your everyday stuff is a perfect demonstration that some were OP and others vastly irrelevant on the basis of the order of the algorithm that they were generated under. I feel like Wurm is going to be making many more of these unpopular and hurtful changes in the lead up to releasing on steam. However, looking forward. It's better to make these changes now than continue to pretend its not an issue and have continued impacts hurting the game. (This applies not just to player gods but also to many other factors of the game I hope to see changed.)

I hope devs know what they are doing, and to drop this info like a side comment in some random topic, that is to slap us the payers in the face.

My god so now my Nanjo will have to choose strongwall or Genesis, and my Paawelr that I changed from Vyn to Paawelr will have to convert back again. I officially hate you guys now. Sorry but this means fewer premed toons. You are kiling the game faster than you can release a VI. Are you removeing the spells already cast also?

I really wouldn't call this a PR/Communication Disaster. It roughly went like this over the years: Some Players: "Player gods are broken, please get rid of them." Other Players: "No, we got used to them; it's unfair that we can't access all content with a main and an alt." Devs: "Ok, we are not removing player gods; they are broken but a lot of players would be angry if we did. We want to keep our player base happy, and surely a little bit of imbalance can't break too much" Some Players: "Wow, the devs never listen to us." <Time passes, most of the player base leave, wurm is essentially planning a relaunch> Devs: "Actually, you guys were right. We're going to remove player gods because our attempts to balance them just have not worked and we REALLY don't want that stuff being shown to the new audience." Other Players: "Wow, the devs never listen to us."
  18. 2 points
That depends on the dev's plans. If their plans are to segregate priest functionalities, mission accomplished. There is no longer a "one size kinda fits all" diety. You'll see people starting to say "WTB Strongwall casts" in trade chat again, you will see a whole lot of priest accounts being sold (for pennies on the dollar I might add), and soon veggies will be even more worthless than they have been for the last 2 years.

I think his gripe is that Mag has microscopic utility outside of Strongwall itself. And he isn't wrong.
  20. 2 points
The following is from a PvE-only player perspective. * I did not include spells that are available for all the 4 gods, such as Summon soul or Bless. Looking at the list of spells, Magranon is going to be an outcast in Freedom once again, with only one useful, unique spell - Strongwall (and even this one is a niche spell). Disintegrate, let's be honest, so difficult to cast it's close to useless. Easier (and arguably cheaper) to settle a temporary deed. Sure, Mag has a few other spells (Focused will, Flaming aura), but I wouldn't put those in PvE equations because they have better versions available by other deities. Dear Wurm team, who speaks of balancing the gods and priests. Look at it! Vynora and Fo will be the to go-to priests for 75% of players/traders. Libila is for the 20% who want to "do stuff, but be different". Magranon... well, Mag will pay for premium, log in for a day or two, and be forgotten again. Is that balanced? Please don't dare to tell us "we probably have to look at balancing those 4 main gods in the future". Do not dare! You have messed and screwed with priests so many times in recent past, I rather have you remove all religion from the game than giving us another "in the future". You should be more than capable to work out balancing the four gods now, right now, within that upcoming change. I mean, some priests have changed their deity every year, how can they even believe in anything? Sorry for the rant. I like mining and terraforming, and I'm sad because I'm going to have to play/pay this one-spell-priest. Used to have Life transfer back in the day... I love this game.

Big plus one to all of these things. I thoroughly enjoy building things in the game, and would particularly enjoy the ability to vary the look of a place, especially indoors. Being able to plaster or render only one side of any type of brick wall for instance, rather than having to render the whole thing both inside and out, and being able to paint only one side of the wall- this would make a HUGE impact on the variety of ways a player can decorate a building/dwelling. Add stained glass windows of different color schemes and styles to the mix and you would have the setup for a fantastic variety of looks and schemes when it comes to the look of a place. I have read that the devs are working on bringing paint to the game that works like actual paint- covering over textures on wood, for example, that are otherwise still visible with dyes. If paint could be applied to only one side of a wall as well, with the same texture covering effect, that would be fantastic. Requiring plaster or rendering of a wall before painting for a flat texture effect would be a realistic and welcomed addition to the process if one wanted a smooth colored wall inside a stone or brick structure. Decorating the landscape is always a nice touch, and additional flower and bush options and the ability to propagate them would be another great addition to the Wurm environment. Humbly submitted... ~TH~ Chief Hermite of Hermitage

We're currently going over all favour methods for review. As a heads up I wouldn't make plans about massive scale mushroom farming until that info is out.
  23. 2 points
Let me try to understand this correctly... Less than one month after the groundbreaking (and exciting!) introduction of large planter boxes, now is the best time to nerf favor gains from veggies by up to 60% AND trivialize the newfound ability to grow our own mushrooms? I demand a better explanation from the devs than "it's for the best". I also feel that the various conversations going on in this thread.... removal of player gods, nerfing chopped veggies, post-removal balancing discussion and third person camera.... need their own threads. Because posts like this one are going to get buried quickly.

Well, people letting steam out, not hard to understand. But I agree that furious polemics do not change anything. Sadly, I have come to the conclusion that polite speech, rational reasoning and persuasion do not lead anywhere, either. Though a new low-point in customer relations and style of decision making, this is far not the first one.
  27. 2 points
Hyperbole and ad hominem attacks may make for good rhetoric but are a poor choice for persuasion or discourse.

Obviously they do not understand how much of a blow this is. The main reason people went with the player gods is because they were not stuck in a completely idiotic box with spells that had NO VALUE, they had ones that had quite a few spells of value and they could have fun with the absurd amount they have to pay for a game that barely adds anything. I saw no poll, I saw nothing to alert people to raise up and voice their opinions and the ONLY two things I can think of are as follows: 1. Devs that helped shape the original gods threw temper tantrums because people wanted useful gods. 2. Pure laziness in trying to balance for PVP when that is the LOWEST POPULATION in this game. I scratch my head and wonder, who in charge makes idiotic major changes and thinks they are not going to lose quite a few people who play the game. I for one will not premium my priest now because being stuck vynora (the others are equal parts worthless) and only being an equipment enchanter is completely worthless to me because I have to follow the asian grindfest logic this game is to get high enough tool making to actually be worth a few copper. The game is designed to not allow new players to make it in the market and now you push older players out and refuse to make changes to some I have seen people talk about specifically skill gain speed, increasing it just a bit.

@RetrogradeThanks for this reply. Now we making some progress to get to some answers. I surely can work with 4 favour per chopped veggie. reducing it to anything below that way to drastic. I have 20k+ 99.9 ql chopped veggies in stock. so it is roughly 100k favour. Nerfing it to 2 or 3 favour per will reduce that to either 40k favour or 60k Favour. See why I am upset. I have put a lot of work into grinding farming, actually farming the veggies and chopping them. To have 100k favour in stock mean I will now have to spend so much more time farming and chopping. now you want to make it even more so by devaluing it? the mass production of chopped veggies is not easier than any other sacable when you consider the time grinding farming, tending the the crops daily, then harvest and then chop them. It takes time. a lot of time.
  30. 2 points
The answers from staff keeps being vague around exactly how effective veggies will be as sac'able. Time to give us some actual facts here. Lets nip this issue in the bud. If veggies is not going to be nerfed to death like I expect it to be then just tell us the exact numbers

Just some thoughts and observations: Wurm cuts a deal with steam, steam requires or strongly suggests certain things/changes. Wurm sells out their loyal players for the possibility of a new player infusion via steam aka dollar signs. Looses loyal players for maybe some new ones on steam and possibly whatever Steam may be paying them. To see such a great game that I've been loyal to for many years go down the tubes over the past few years has been really difficult to watch. Unfortunate decision after unfortunate decision resulting in Wurm bleeding loyal hardcore players for years. It's like your favorite movie (thinking of the three original star wars) that they make a sequel to and then they ruin it by trying to appease the masses by adding a cheesy love plot or some "cute" idiot character that everyone hates (jar jar). Wurm has fallen into the same trap. If you're going roll something back maybe it should be the skill oils that make you able to get 100ql ore with 78 mining skill, or make it so that people from chaos can't come and screw up your server. Roll back all of the beautiful wood textures that so many people loved instead of the current ones that all look like the same bla with slightly different shades. Or maybe roll back the nerfed hell horse hitching feature. No amount of rewards or giving out of tomes for finishing quests will fix the fundamental damages that have taken place over the past few years. And while I'm on my soap box, I want to lament the publishing of WU, it fragmented the Wurm community which has never recovered. In the end I appreciate that Wurm is a business and that there are many competing voices advocating for what Wurm should be in the future. It just make me sad that a game with such potential should turn out the way it has, not unlike many a great movie. Rest in peace Wurm, follow in the footsteps of other once great games like Ultima Online. PS. And if you're thinking "well if they were loyal they wouldn't have left" I'm sure a lot of the people who have left felt betrayed that the Wurm they loved is no longer.

You know i really want to be happy about the loyalty system having the golden mirror and all that but i really cant that post just screams "here is all this fluff to cover up the fact that we are removing something that a lot of people love from the game because a tiny small group of people lost their kingdom on the pvp server due to not being able to understand 2+2=4" With that mentally of "its to difficult to balance it lets just cut it" i just have 1 question whats next in the next 2 months what else will be cut? also jackal any progress for j2 yet anything in the works? or is it dead in the water and going to be forgotten and scrapped now that the cash grab is over?

Starting to look more and more like you are trying to kill WO to get people to switch to Steam version when and if it comes out ... Has the new owners of Club AB had any input to the changes ? Because so far with all the changes coming to stuff you had improved , to step backwards instead ,,, priest changes and followers adding new demy GOD,s just to go back to old god system is odd ... The loyalty sounds interesting , but makes me think of one time loot box depending on account age . Third person view , on a lot of games I find it adds extra lag because rendering you're character is extra processing .... Guess can only wait and see what is to come , best of luck ... Yes I am still subed .

I dont know. I feel the whole changes in this field hasty and poorly thought through. But maybe my feeling only, and granted, I am pissed and feel cheated. Trusting in the continuity of Wurm I just premed my Nahjo priest in December for half a year, now it is stranded and forced to convert somewhere. My consequence is to be very careful when re-preming next time, even on my main character. The recent changes will probably trigger a further sharp fall in subscriptions, which in turn may trigger further panic reactions by the company. Until now I had been cautiously optimistic about the future of Wurm. Now, let's see.
  37. 2 points
Really? You are removing an important aspect of the game because you might feel a little silly in the future?
  38. 2 points
You are not really giving reasons why it is better for Wurm in the long run. Also, it seems to be a major change with no discussion with the player base. I'm fine with the main gods being less important, there is little forced lore and roleplay in this sandbox game, why do it now?
  39. 2 points
With a constant shrinking player base, there might not be a "long run" for Wurm after all... Make a poll that people playing priest to have a saying on that. At least gauge what players expect from this change.
  40. 2 points
Please reconsider the priest change. It is only going to lead to angry players who no longer want to play your game.

I read all the new things, and again ….. sigh. I am not against any of it, but it still ignores what I an others who are not pvp or fighters in general, have been wanting. I have asked over and over again … flower seeds.. how difficult is that, you already have a "seed" system. You know that the white dotted flowers do not grow back, its been that way for stinking EVER. New and better flower bushes. floral gate arches, rose bushes with ROSES on them. Flowers, window boxes. Flower tiles or garden tiles. Sunflower tiles, .. or other nicer flower tiles where trees cannot grow so the constant fighting back the tree growth can end. Sometimes I cut down a tree, and when I look down another has sprouted in its place!!!!! Stained glass would be a wonderful addition, it fits the style of the game … is it difficult to do it? Can we maybe plaster walls, and then paint them so the inside of every home is not the same as the inside of every other home. oh, and more furniture variety would be great, and more rugs. There are many players in this game who just want to make their world, could you please give us more to work with? Thank you once again for your thoughtful consideration of my suggestion and request.

I'm checking in server.log, on a hosted server, and I'm not getting any of the three lines you mentioned. I've checked back to previous logs, as well. Is it a different log I'm supposed to be checking, other than server.log? I checked on my WU Dedicated server.log too, and don't find these lines there either. When I start the LAN, I see "Starting the server" briefly flash by, then a bunch of lines flashing past so fast I can't see them, and then "Wurm Server launcher finished at" but when I scroll up on the black screen with white writing, it doesn't go back as far as "Starting the server" so I can see only some of it. In the server.log, I see this, so I know it's loading. But no sign of "Buyer and merchant max items" EDIT: I searched the log by Buyer, buyer, Max, max, Merchant, and merchant, but still didn't find it. I also tried to post the log in a spoiler here, but froze the screen for 5 minutes and then got a message saying it wasn't possible to edit this post at this time. I guess it was too long?

Trust that this will be an option? To use it or not. So much now is without choice - we have to have furling and unfurling of sails, we have to use GSL for placement, else you get big error messages, and to get thru our journals: we have to do archaeology, we have to use the horrible fishing system, we have to collect recipes for the over complex cooking system, etc, etc. Wurm is, or used to be, appealing to many for the freedom given to players to chose. This seems to be rapidly eroded.

W H Y ? The reason I'm asking is.... WHY is animal husbandry useless without a priest in the first place.. Why not unlock an ability or passive no bad traits after certain skill instead? As it is.. we're only making hundreds of new creatures to just compensate for the bad traits.. or rng luck to get a rare skinned creature... champs are a thing to chase... But for horses alone.. you can be AH with 20-50-70-90 AH skill and you are USELESS if your creature have a bad trait... why? Doesn't it make more sense to implement few care stages for that creature to replace the bad trait.. with a random/good/ new one?

Bethesda called they want their think tank back you guys are stealing their bad idea's You keep saying you want to make wurm better but every month or 2nd month you do something so utterly stupid to bleed more players away and you keep it up Just stop with this nonsense already before you are left with a handful of players and you have to close servers due to costs being to high just stop ruining the game we love

My main issues are * the 4 waves - wave 1 is quite just a filler one, no excitement just spending time. * warmaster oakshellish protection after the turrets die is quite impossible with a small group regardless off skills. Also no reward from killing it which means it may simply be more logical to skip killing it now. * sounds. Please. Those ogrekind sounds... * while new AI for the mobs is a good idea somehow it does not add finally to the mix but makes it more a massacre. Now it is you-just-sit-in-the-middle-and-hack-em-all. Being they are much less strong to hit mostly and quite too many of them. Less and stronger might be a better experience.
