Thank you developers and graphics people who have brought us so far forward in our ability to paint things that the game can enjoy more depth and realism with the boats and furniture with dye channels that separate sections to be dyed/painted in different colors. That said, I feel an opportunity has been missed with the timber framed walls. Currently, the complete item being painted can look jarring and disjointed from the rest of the surrounding buildings of various types. I suggest implementing the two-channel painting option for timber-framed walls where the stucco and wood portions are painted separately. I think this could lead to some very interesting and beautiful villages. Imagine how lovely this could be with just the stucco painted for these buildings. Since the wood would be unaffected, the timber framed would still blend well with the top of the stone walls. What do you think? How could this option improve the depth and interest of your village? Perhaps the same could be possible for the wooden walls also. Painting just the clapboard or just the trim pieces could make some really interesting buildings and barns!

Hi, I read in a recent Valrei International that we'd get an email 1 month and 1 week before your deed disbands. My deed disbanded about 5 days ago and I never got the email. Went through my spam folder and deleted emails, couldn't find anything. greetings, Thimoka

I don't think that I'm presenting an especially hot take when I make the claim that a vast portion of the currency available in-game is held predominantly by veteran players, and tends to pass between the hands of the veteran players who produce higher-quality goods with their higher-level skills. I'm not even necessarily as upset about that as some players might be, but I must admit that one of the consequences of it has been a small disappointment for me; there is not much in the way of a trading market for lower-level goods, as the veterans with money have no need for them and the lower-level players who need it won't part with their small handfuls of coins to purchase them. To the extent that this bothers me, it's mostly because I feel it takes away from Wurm's ability to function as an immersive simulation; I like the idea of being able to ride my cart over to the next village and trade with the people there if I want to. But the Wurm economy in its current state seems to instead be dominated by grand artifacts or enormous bulk orders shipped between continents. I feel like I can understand why the current state of affairs has emerged, but I also want to try and do something to resolve the frustrations that it creates for me. I've got one or two ideas that I'm considering trying out, but I maybe wanted to get a little bit of feedback first; in particular, I know Wurm players have been discussing these issues for my entire adult life (if not longer), so I wanted to check if some more experienced people might have some input to offer, whether it be helpful advice or honestly saying "someone tried it, it didn't work." As the title of the thread says, the idea I want to discuss here is the notion of trading "in kind" rather than in currency. Obviously this is something that already happens all the time in Wurm, but I'm thinking about it in a larger and more organized sense. Among a single community where everyone knows each other's circumstances, negotiating a fair exchange of goods and services is pretty straightforward, but when one has a bunch of strangers coming together to try and do business, it helps to have a more consistent set of standards. That is the role that currency traditionally fills, providing a 'lingua franca' for expressing value. But the numerical nature of Wurm presents at least one possible way to measure comparable value between two wildly different types of goods without the medium of currency: it takes the form of a formula that I've been pondering a little bit over the last day or so: (Mass) x (QL) x (material value) x (production value) "Material value" would be an integer between 0.5 and 1.5 depending on the type of material used (e.g. 0.5 for plant goods; 1 for animal goods; 1.5 for mineral goods); "production value" would be similar, but increasing based on how many stages of processing were involved (e.g. 0.5 for "raw" materials; 1 for refined materials/simple goods; 1.5 for finished/complex goods). Obviously such a formula would have to be a guideline used in good spirit; no arguing that a 100 piles of dirt are worth one high-QL item, etc. More obviously, my lack of experience with the Wurm economy means that I have no idea how effectively such a formula actually represents the value of the goods in question (especially regarding my "material/production value" estimates). Feedback would most definitely be appreciated Obviously there is another issue raised by this. While the awesome goods being traded by veteran players make traveling across continents worthwhile, traveling halfway across Xanadu isn't exactly practical when one just wants a fancy new rake and a few barrels of wine. For this kind of trading system for lower-level players to function, there needs to be a decent quantity of potential trading partners all relatively close to one another; it would work best if most of the lower-level players who might want to trade with one another were encouraged to stay relatively close to one another, or had reliable transportation to such a location. So the question that I'm led to ask is whether there are in fact enough "lower-level" players (let's say, players with most of their skills under 40, for example) to put something like this into action at all, or if we are like the rare cherished children of elf communities, vastly outnumbered by our elders? And, in conclusion, I apologize if I'm repeating a bunch of things that veterans have heard a half-dozen times before; I've been trying to do as much research as I can before opening my mouth, but Wurm has a lot of history lol

Hi. I happened to have some fun digging under the water using the dredge today. Anyone who have done that trully knows how big of a PITA that is. I wont talk about the volume of the 2 dirts in the dredge right here, or that you cant see what you are doing if you are using a boat as it blocks all the view, wont talk about the hopping in/out the boat to regain stamina if you actually want to see what you doing.. BUT Can we, please, have adjustable dredge at least? I mean, sort of similar as a measuring jug in a way, where we could select the pre-set required depth to like -10 below water, -25, -50, unlimited and where it wont dredge passed the set depth. I mean that probably would not be too hard to code either, as we already have some limits in place, like digging stops at -7, mining stops at -25 under water. So i believe with a little bit or work this could become very possible and an awesome upgrade to terraforming tools that would be a huge, huge advantage in player ecperiences too. Thanks

Currently, many dairy food recipes, particularly ice cream recipes, do not use Dairy Food Making skill, instead using base Cooking skill. I believe they should be using Dairy Food Making for two reasons: Dairy Food Making could use being a bit more, well, useful. It's dairy food, and using the (low-skillgain) parent skill like Cooking should only really be done when none of the specific subskills seem appropriate.

Someone had to do it. Can we have MUGA hats made in game? But seriously, I've looked for other Sandbox games and I can't find one like this one. EVE Online is the only other sandbox worth mentioning in my honest, but its a completely different Genre. One scratches the back, the other scratches different jiggly bits. Why isn't everyone just dragging their friends kicking and screaming into this game? Or even better, why not hang around Havens Landing hiring newbs to do stuff, like anything keeping them in the game longer then a day or two? Not saying I won't do that, just haven't seen many people do it (or perhaps I missed it if they are). I feel like this Big-ole Steam WO release is F%^&*ng up everyone's ability to just dive in causing players to stay in limbo for fear of wasting their time. Give me some love, tell me I'm wrong. Cheers. Just wanted to rant a bit. c'est la vie

Hi Timoca, this does appear to be a bug regarding the mail sending out, we've corrected it already. If you could reach out to me in PM we can discuss something about correcting this as you should have had warning.

I'm all in favor of more options for adding color and variations to our ability to decorate in game, especially when it comes to building. Allowing the stucco and timber frame portions to be dyed independently would be a fantastic next step in that direction for building options, and it seems it would be an easy change to make with many creative benefits.

Server Update – 22/11/2019 Halloween event is over, existing ominous gravestones will remain in game until cleared but new ones will no longer spawn. Fixed a bug with moving village tokens that caused them to become invisible when moved over a long distance. If you have a token that’s currently invisible you’ll need to move it again for it to become visible.

The problem is that they don't trust their server code enough to just allow you to send any action, here's what keenan said on it back then

Right because it is such a big personal gain of running a WU server, I am not sure in which world you are living in. I just can hear lies and hate. And you are going down to that level again, I would like to ask you one more time to be friendly. You are risking your health for a game mate, that can't be healthy what you are doing. Please remember the rule: If your post is constructive => feel free to post it, if not => leave the people around you alone and don't annoy them. At the moment you just derailed this thread and not gave a single answer to my questions. Wipeout first I want to thank you for answering, I agree with you the conecept Jackal can be fun if you don't do it for the benefits you were promised to get from it. Back in the days I had the most fun playing on very fresh servers like, for example when Inde, Deli, Cele, Exo and Pristine came out, also in that time the dragon hunt was real, so it was even more fun with the old dragon system. I also enjoyed playing a lot on Golden Valley it was always fun, as it had some kind of survival experience without any deeds and such stuff. What I also see the challenge in Wurm is that the community should be brought together, it is a lot more fun to play in a big village than in your own big homestead. Pros and cons coming with that but I wouldn't like to play Wurm alone on a single player deed anymore.

Heya Eckin, used to play with Doug when I was up on Lake Vrock, hasn't logged in in over 900+ days, so would say its either keep for yourself or let go in the wild

I like your small n-n-deedable Islands, Quote from above "What id like to see though and just currently isnt gonna happen any time soon if ever(due to hardware issues) is a bunch of non deedable servers(and not hey this is a non deed server 2 months later you guys can deed on it) that are islands from small ones to medium sized ones(imagine half of deli for max size) which would feature untapped resources like volcano's or mountain ranges high in ore or vast grasslands(with trees not slowly eating them up) full of animals to hunt that kinda thing and have these servers reset once every 6 months alongside jackalSuch themed servers for exploration and hunting and resource gathering would be a nice touch after all we are the "freedom isles" so it would make sense for our independent spirits to venture out into the world more and find these uncharted islands full of riches waiting to be exploited and brought back to our homes and towns". I love this idea. And I agree the UI, Combat System and likely game engine do need fixed like you say.

It's not me using every opportunity to popularize a personal server on the main game's forum while at the same time undermining the original game or people running it. How's that for 'dropping down like this', besides a bit closer to reality than above reply. "Friendly" talk is really cringing in a few levels, almost like a threat in a straight text, wow. Profile reputation is useless, it's only a number, it's currency for nothing.(somebody liked or agrees with a statement or liked a screenshot/picture of something, etc) All that mattered was to ask you about your actual opinion, you did provide vague one like it costs time or money to write more. Seems still hollow, just another hate-hype wagon post(for the likes?), instead of productive criticism leading to a solution to a problem if some seem to find one with the skill gains. It have been mentioned a few times that the point of jackal isn't to be a meta skill grind instance. Seems like pretty active dev topic, this is probably not the final change to it. Reason to ask, was that I was a bit fed on half-written hate hype posts about changes and fixes lately..(I was.. triggered to ask, that's all, isn't personal attack, it's curiosity what your mind about this was).

usually most mods come with a mods folder in the zip, so you unzip them to wurmlauncher and it merges with the existing mods folder.

Time goes against you Look at any other popular games. Why are they popular? The most important thing is to meet the players What people primarily use when they see a game What we use most of this game What should be changed first The answer is: HUDS Us, all this is usually on the shoulder. But more and more players prefer simpler, more convenient options. There are too many minor HUDS in this game, in which it is very easy for a simple person to get confused Everything that is in the game does not have to be changed, but in my opinion, you need to have in stock convenient modern interfaces for all those who can not fully feel and understand this game

Great video. Harvestmoon Lagoon is a great deed. Been here since 2014. So many great players of the game have came to this deed, grown, and moved on to become their own deed owners and exceptional players in the community. Just pm us on the forums or in game and we'll be happy to come pick you up on any server. We focus on helping new players learn the game. We also welcome experienced players a place to join, live, and regroup! A very friendly community exists not only at HM, but on Release. Come and see for yourself

As a deed owner you should be allowed at least in your perimeter to rotate and push everyones ships however you like. After all, its 'your' lands.. Kinda. But, none of this should be allowed if its not in perimeter or deed. Call GM to help you out.

I contacted JackJones late last night and have been given editor perms on the map data. Between CrazyDad and myself, we should be much faster at responding to requested updates. I for one follow Niarja pretty closely, so will be taking disbanded deeds off within a day or two of them disbanding. If you see a requested update not being made, feel free to contact me in-game, same name, or here. Oh, and play nice why don't ya...

Well, thanks that you contacted him, and thanks to Crazydad that he did the update work. The reason why I had not written a PM to him simply was that I indeed assumed that he had left WO and also the forums. And mind that I am not even 2 years in WO, and bit reluctant to contact people other certainly know years longer and much better, maybe even over RL contacts. Insofar I consider your scolding or mockery somewhat rude and arrogant. I am hesitant to ever interfere in those public affairs once more when my attempts to get things done are treated that way.

I gotta ask, why not just enable the "custom actions" mod code as part of the main Wurm code? One where you "act_show on" and get the action's number, then bind it with the console. No, it won't make a lick of difference for bots. Bots don't get carpal tunnel, they existed on Runescape since way before anything was keybound there.

So turn wurm from its "players create everything" to "players create 40% of the game and all "fun" content is created by staff and the world is littered with random crap"? Even if you added in daily quests(not that that will ever happen) once the shinyness of it wears off they just become a chore just like the new fishing and cooking system, wurm doesnt need new content that the player can only interact with and not create it needs to make current features more engaging which is what the dev team is working on with the ui and combat overhauls There is no point in putting new paint on a car who's engine is half broken and expecting it to work well you first gotta get that engine fixed or replaced and in this case they are fixing the broken parts(the things that are showing their age the most) in hopes that it will work better What id like to see though and just currently isnt gonna happen any time soon if ever(due to hardware issues) is a bunch of non deedable servers(and not hey this is a non deed server 2 months later you guys can deed on it) that are islands from small ones to medium sized ones(imagine half of deli for max size) which would feature untapped resources like volcano's or mountain ranges high in ore or vast grasslands(with trees not slowly eating them up) full of animals to hunt that kinda thing and have these servers reset once every 6 months alongside jackal Such themed servers for exploration and hunting and resource gathering would be a nice touch after all we are the "freedom isles" so it would make sense for our independent spirits to venture out into the world more and find these uncharted islands full of riches waiting to be exploited and brought back to our homes and towns But again this is something that a multitude of us have asked over the years time and time again but we all know even if wurm had 20+ staff just working on this to have proper terrain generation and all that it still wont happen any time soon within the next few years
