    The Lunalong Building - Dracaa Greetings Wurmians! Retro here with the hottest of goss, the juiciest of news, the most scandalous of tidbits, aka the Valrei International! But first.. Patch Notes We'd be alright if the wind was(not) in our sails! No sea shanties here, but there is something coming very soon! That's right, the long wanted ability to furl sails and remove windspeed affecting the ships movement. This allows for better control when parking and also makes the docks a little nicer looking in my opinion! In the hall of the mountain farmer Also coming soon is the ability to farm underground! We'll be adding farming boxes for you to plant and grow any crop inside caves. These will be able to be built below ground as well as above ground in buildings. They are not able to be tended however. They don't need sunlight either, but that's wogic for you! UI works One of our goals with the UI update is to add scalability to text to allow for 4k monitors to be a lot easier to read, and with that we're working on allowing UI elements to be resized as you can see below To cut down on clutter within the UI the health/stamina bar will also be compacted, showing CCFP and sleep bonus when moused over Wurm Unlimited news As some have already stated, our focus for Wurm unlimited is shifting from content updates from WO to bug fixes and more modding support. We'll be adding the client modloader to the vanilla WU client which will allow for easier control of mods as well as many other features. We'll be working closely with server admins and modders via the Discord server in providing as much support as we can. While this does mean the end of content updates from us, our goal is to provide as much freedom as possible to the modders to continue to push what is possible in Wurm. Community Content The Lunalong is here! In the amazing underground halls of Kappa on Xanadu, located just near Lormere is the annual Lunalong by Dracaa, it's an amazing deed, with amazing people, and just, gosh, so amazing. There's even a maze...ing This Friday our very own Bloody Drongo will be hosting his annual fashion competition there too, so make sure to get your swimsuit body ready (or harvest one) and attend! There's a lot in the works, and our focus is on making Wurm the best game it can be over the next few months, this includes the loyalty system I have discussed as well as other features including improvements to Animal Husbandry, combat and a bunch of other things yet to hit the table.     Good stuff, thanks folks! Will the compacted health/stamina bar be a toggle on/off option? The only way I remember to turn my sleep bonus off half the time is when I catch sight of it still being shiny white...

    I fail to see what you are complaining about. You bought WU, maybe at the full price of 25€ or so, maybe not even that. Paid once and forever. You played there, got access to the whole WU world which you still have, with lots of updates from WO as well as from WU server administrators and developers. You even may play on your own server, as a god of your own world, obtaining ideas and mods from all around the WU community. So what the damn are you complaining about? That you do not get further regular and continuous updates from WO for a game you paid only once? Are you serious? As Samool stated, WU has not been abandoned. Even in the past, WU modders voiced dissatisfaction with the way updates were brought to WU, maybe the new ways can show to be even more adequate. Future will show.

    OMG OMG OMG SO GOOD! And like Cecci said, I hope we can use those boxes on the surface as well! THANK YOU! This is something I have suffered with for some time and it's embarrassed me to be showing Wurm on stream because of this issue, so glad to see this improvement! Like Crimson said, I am hoping that we can also toggle this. I for one want to watch the sleep bonus going down while I'm in a rush to make the best use out of it. And I also sometimes forget it's turned on until I notice the white color. Looks like a lot of exciting and great things coming, well done team!

    After only getting my character recently able to fight even the lowest of creatures I had been doing a lot of research into FS, weapons and then armor. I saw that there was a nicely detailed, fairly recent, armor calculation. But it was hard to recognize at a glance, and had no calculator for it.     Finally tried out the new fishing system and have a suggestion. An option to "release" fish from your inventory. Functionally similar to discard, but only works on fishing catchables near water (if you care enough to actually code the near water part, I could probably live without it).

    Probably "best content this year", well even if not right, a straight 10 with these 2x sails and cave farming additions, added points for Retro's post being fixed by Saroman, dam' typos Unsure how to .. huh, idk just hope it's possible to show the full view all the time somehow... as it shows information.. how else to track the 36000 to 1-2-3 seconds of your sleep bonus if you cant see it, pointing over it to expand.. will be weird..

    For all games development stops or greatly ramps down eventually, that's perfectly normal. They've given the game free updates for more than 4 years now. Most games these days are lucky to get 1-2 years of updates and even then a lot of it is in the form of DLC, yet with WU all updates have been free. As someone whom also owns WU I have no objections to future WO updates not making it to WU, I had honestly expected it to happen sooner.

    Yes please - I wish for sleep bonus and favour bars to remain visible, so I can see at a glance how much I have left. Awesome new content afoot! Thanks for these. Yes, it would be nice if those growing boxes could be grown 'up top' outside too! For those of us living where space is at a premium - for example small islands with no rock layer, it would be nice to have these boxes to plant on the surface. Please allow the boxes to be set up on the flat roofs of buildings - it's the Eco-friendly way to farm!

    I'd love to see those planting boxes above ground and in houses as well. Then we just need some glass roofs for the houses and you'd have greenhouses.

    I'd keep in mind the potential for texture packs when working on the mod interface, it might encourage the folk that are currently working on such things to keep at it.~ What about mushrooms? If chlorophyll can breathe in mines, could you add mushroom farming to the game? saprophytes don't need light 🍄

    To use these portals create a new item, choose between: 1. Steel Server Portal - (Steel Portal Model, the one with glowing ball inside) 2. Huge Server Portal - (Epic Portal Model, same as steel, without the glowing ball). 3. Server Portal - (The craftable small epic portal model). 4. Portal ring - (Just a generic ring, can fast create with #give 4016 set data just like a normal portal) 5. Rift Server Portal - (The mole hole with smoking crystals around it) Set data1 to the value of the x position you want to transport to. Set data 2 to the value of the y position you want to transport to. Set AuxData to 1. (You must set AuxData to 1 or it will not work. I have done this to prepare for future different portal types).     Most of the time I spend in Wurm is around my deed building, crafting, breeding horses. The normal stuff we all do. But that doesn't make for a very engaging stream, so I thought I should start a new series for my Wurm streams called "Wurm Roulette". Basically, the idea is to pick a completely random location out of all the maps and try to get to that spot no matter what! Our first adventure took us to Deli H10. If you want to catch the streams live, I'll be streaming Wurm every Tuesday evening (european time) on YouTube. The easiest way to catch one of my streams is to join my Discord or follow me on Twitter where I will notify each time I go live.     Very few people have enough pigs or other animals to make use of lots of food. After the first week or so of playing, most people can pump out far more food than they can possibly have a use for. Well, here's a passive use for food! Designate a larder for guards. Put food in larder. Any templars from the same deed, or tower guards with territories overlapping the guard larder will passively consume food and gain minor buffs. The better the food, the better the buffs, but never anything good enough to make them ridiculous.

    Every now and then when reading the forums I come across opinions spouting doom and gloom for this great game and it does sadden me. These updates are so positive and I honestly thank the entire team for their hard work and effort. I also agree with the idea from Cecci that it would be marvellous if the planting boxes are available on the surface. One question: Will the planting boxes be able to be constructed inside cave houses or other buildings?

    Ha ha. I don't really mind. Really, I'm just doing this for fun, I'll probs remove the bit about school because realistically it won't be finished by then and I have better ideas for that. Thinking about it, this won't be a deadlined project as I am planning on making it the length of the music, just something I gradually add to every now and then. Just thinking of making it a showcase of Wurm in general, not really a theme.

    altitude would affect that, even in summer at like 2000 height would be cold. But the settings can make even summer feel cold, just depends on how the server is set up.

    Will that official announcement also include a reason for me to play "Wurm Online Steam version" which will probably cost me 8-12 euros every single month over "Wurm Unlimited" which I have bought for myself and 3 other friends for under 4 Euros all keys included?

    +1 Also, Dogs should bark when an aggressive creature shows up on deed, cats hiss. Makes them handy to have around. They would also like to hang around where people are, and possibly greet someone who enters the deed. JS

    Hello Wurmians, dropping in to bump my favorite server in WU. We don't post much here, but Calysto is alive and well and kicking every day. It has a small core of regulars who have played here for years, and a varying group of new friends who come and go. We have been here for years. We expect to be here in some form or fashion for more years. If you are looking for a solid community, a server with great communication so you are never surprised to find it simply gone, we may be your place. We skill fast here, real fast, because our owner wanted a place where you could learn anything, make your Wurm dreams come true, and if you could only play part-time due to real life, we have that here. Almost no grind. Insanely friendly GMs (yes we are active but also have real lives so come and go throughout the day. You may be alone at times, but not for long. One of us will be by. We won't play your game for you, but, we do love our players and strive to be fair). The server is heavily modded. No vanilla here. Plenty of other servers for that. You do pay for deeds and for upkeep, but coins are easy. We have rift mobs and dragons and Troll kings aplenty, and you can get the skill to fight them and have FUN here. If what you want is to PLAY, have FUN, have GMs around to help with the rare question or jam, and feel safe to build and play and enjoy, we will leave a light on for you. We have wild lands in plenty left, and long gone deeds already terraformed too. The rules are few, no griefing, and log in at least every 30 days or your deed will be poofed (unless you let us know you will be away longer). Simple rules, for adult players who want to do it their way as much as possible (though the server is kept family friendly) Wanna play? We got your game. Come on I am "grey" in game, one of your GMs. Waiting on you to show up, finally

    Thank you for posting this. When I first read about the sale, I thought it was a good change. Then I started reading some other things and started bouncing back and forth between doubt and optimism. With this post, I am feeling much more confident that this will be a good thing in the long run

    Make sails like saddles. Open boat/ship , there is sail sections, put sail and it increases speed ( to normal one) bonus speed for higher QL sails. Simple.

    I've not even considered that graphics might be an issue. I honestly don't care. Ships can look like they have set sails all the time for all I care, but if I could park my boat in less than 20 minutes, that would be great. +1

    yep. +1. I sail a ton IRL. I've always been impressed with how far Wurm has taken sailing here, compared to any other game I've played. This improvement would make it even better. The new mechanic isn't something that would be required use, for those that think this is going too far. Devs could probably pull off the changes with very little time and effort, if they skip any visual changes. Visual sail changes would be sweet, but save that for later.

    +1 This would be appreciated immensely by anyone who ever tried to do a decent looking parking job. Some toggle to negate the affect of wind seems to be very easy to implement. Yeah, "get in and go" is exactly how it is right now. The moment you raise anchor, already holding your reverse key, you blast off at at uncontrollable speed and scrape your way all the way out of the harbor. And you often have no control of your angle to wind when you're trying to park where you have to. Finer control when sailing is hardly micromanagement, unless you then choose to better manage your docking attempts, but you would still have the option to crash-dock head first if you prefer to just "get out and go".

    +1 Anything that improves QoL "quailty of life" in my book is a good change to consider. The development team really ought to start thinking about QoL and how simple adjustments really help the game retain some of it's players and maybe even bring some back.

    +1 It is bad to have to dredge out nice docks just to give caravels and cogs room to turn in higher winds. In the real world , part of navigating a sailing ship has always been choosing when and how many sails to use or furl, Wurm does not need to be 100% real , the proposed change should enough for more fun and less frustration.
