I downloaded the WurmLauncher.tar.gz from the Wurm Online website Play link and extracted it. I installed it in the /home/user/wurm directory and it created its own folder: wurm-launcher When I ran it from a text file on the desktop with a path to the right place - absolutely nothing happened except a pop up saying there was an error opening the file! When I tried to run it in the console using the ./ command I got the following error: /WurmLauncher error while loading shared libraries: libpng16.so.16: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory The solution was to install what was missing (it was never installed) sudo apt-get install libpng16-16 Running the WurmLauncher either from the console or the desktop text file now works fine. All the files have been correctly added to the wurm-launcher directory, and Wurm opens. I am so new to Mint, I thought I would share this in case anyone else finds their WurmLauncher does nothing and sits there in silence.

It's great, really. Breathed life into an old game I stopped playing a couple years ago. Great to play with people who i used to play with 10 years ago, 5 years ago, all from random villages into this one now. One suggestion though, do like Path of Exile and great a new map/goal every 6 months, don't repeat jackal for atleast a year or two. Problem with challenge servers was that it basically repeated itself and didnt give anything "new". Path of Exile is ridiculously successful creating new servers every few months with a new content patch, please create a new objective map at the end of Jackal, and wurm will be alot more successful and engaging! Freedom will become the new "standard" league.

No one said anything about a need to play 24/7. The fact is that firstly the 24 hours buffer won't do a thing, is unnecessary, and a bit confusing to those who may not know the mechanic if implemented. The next is that even if someone isn't able to be on often, would being on within the past 30 days qualify really as being active in the game to any degree? If it is alt deeds we are talking about I cannot imagine much in the way of valuables being stored at those deeds, and if there was, then that would be a bit higher on the mental priority list to ensure to login at least once within 30 days. It isn't any QoL improvement here and only hurts those that are still actively playing/contributing to the game realistically from deed hunting. The real QoL improvements, again, is better notifications to deed owners in some form that their upkeep is running low/about to expire. This is via emails or some other system ingame, and could be as simple even as the adjusting the 30-days-until-disbanding message in the village tab on login to instead give an exact number of days on EVERY login that could be an adjustable setting that sits right next to all the other existing chat settings that regulate login messages.

Flubb, its a small settlement of two players that are close to each others and I found this place I liked like three weeks ago and didn't take up on it. Infact I wasn't an experience player back then, just started. While learning new things and get a hang of it, that is why I decided to stick with Haven to see what kinda people are there and how friendly, but didn't turn out good as I though it would. Please let me pave rock. Either with mortar as in caves, or even concrete to prep the rock if you are afraid of it being spammed. I want to make 1 tile wide paved roads around my castle, I haven't surfacemined this entire mountain to hide all the sides behind dirt and pavings. It's also a stupid mechanic that I need to go around mining 1 down, drop one dirt even on those places I have 2 wide trails.

Hard to say whether it's a bug or not given I do not know whether I am supposed to receive a message whether the emperor accepted or not. I had challenged emperor Zaffasurf on chaos for a 2-3 month period, but nothing came out of it. I never received a message saying anything happened, or not. I have been told it is bugged because the emperor is located on Freedom and that prevents me from successfully being able to challenge him even though it gives me the message saying you challenge the ruler. I would like this fixed at some point.

Ohhhh. But I didn't remove the old installation with the new file. Seems like it might be working now. Edit: Yes it worked. The issue was I don't install things on a mac very often. I had thought I had installed it but forgotten to drag the new file over the folder and hit replace.

I notice that the format of the in-server version is quite different than the main version. It might help with copying if they could be the same format, so we could just copy and paste. Is that doable?

As per title, spawn them with followers by default, goblins are spawner only so GL will almost never have followers and they wont roam outside a certain area anymore so troll king won't gather many followers either, it doesn't do their hierarchy justice.

Verified with Pingpong that this has been fixed with the last launcher update. Anyone who had the same issue happen will need to download the installer again from our website and reinstall the launcher.@Mafi

scottfree you often find emerging great choices, i'd almost blindly trust your pics. you'd be a good road tripper for picking the music selections. I wanted to be in a sound room for this one so the sound is up and full all around me. That rotating camera visual of a mind experience. This is a winner.

Yeah, the original intention behind it was if people wanted different prices per server. I also did it back when mods were still somewhat new and didn't know if server specific options would be a thing. They do need copying manually, although I will probably add an option to the main .properties file that will allow automatic overriding for single server setups, as it's not typical behaviour and can be easily forgotten when changing values at a later date. Anyway, glad it's resolved for you.

We're on a server host and have just one server. The mod is in the mods folder in the root directory. So it's <numerical name of root directory>/mods/upkeepcosts with no mods folder within the server file. Is it supposed to go in there? I've never put any mods into the actual server folder. Maybe that's the problem? Nothing really is happening, exactly. Just when players try to deed it's telling them the vanilla price and charging it. But it is getting some of it right -- 1s to hire a templar, 1s per month. 50c per upkeep tile. EDIT: OH. I didn't realize there is an auto-generated folder inside the server mods folder! And yes, the figures there were off in exactly the ways that were causing me problems. Are they supposed to automatically follow what we put in the other properties file (in the main mods folder)? Or are we meant to manually do it. Anyway, this fixes the issue for me. 🙂

You are right about the deed disbanding is responsbilty we all have but didn't thought the only reason for disbanding twitter is the anouncement for deed hunting events. Such a realistic gameplay with out of game information. Can close because it's very unrealistic suggestion.

Because it bothers me. Disable twitter anouncemenet of disbanding villages, or at least make an option so the deed owner can decide this. Or, make 12 or 24 hours no loot window after deed disbands by upkeep. I don't mind that hunting disbanding deeds become more profitable then hunting uniques (which have tweaked twitter settings now), but to give more adventage and time to the owner to secure his stuff before the hyenas come by or why not?

If the deed disbands due to purpose, I would imagine the deed owner has amply secured their belongings before then if there was any care about them. If it disbands due to upkeep then 24 hours isn't going to make a difference seeing as they were not online recently in the first place, or didn't care in the first place to be able to get online to pitch into upkeep. A timer before a deed can be looted is precisely the time before the upkeep runs out, there is zero reason to make any other buffer. As for disabling of twitter feed announcements, there is no reason to hinder others still paying and/or playing the game thus contributing to it in some fashion from receiving the benefits of acquiring the contents of a just fallen deed. The correct approach is to ensure that the deed owner is notified often and clearly that their deed upkeep is running low via the email associated with that owner instead.

The most valuable thing that you can make, find, or be offered in this game - is friendship. Look out for those folks that take the time with you now, whilst you are just starting out - make time for them, and you may find they may still be your good friends in 5, 10 years time. I've done all the cost evaluations and presented them. I'm highly aware of the costs over Hetzner. With AWS, the savings is in reserved pricing. Reserved doesn't lock you in tightly either - there's room to scale if needed.

We are in a situation where some servers are more expensive and some are cheaper. The pricing will likely be a bit higher depending on if we do reserved pricing, but fairly balanced as we have the option of choosing instance sizes that best fit server needs.

Trader deeds have never done anything good for the game, they less of a problem now server population is so low. Just don't do the mistake on new servers. At some point servers need to be merged into one or two hopefully we can get rid of them there.

Alright I manage to find a suitable place for an elf to hang out and enjoy, at the meantime still trying to setup the place and transporting stuffs and that is not easy task. So while I am in Haven, gonna continue to try to reopen the mineshaft before I leave this place for good. Been digging time to time when I get a chance, even a new player want to help me. That was nice, he almost felled in that hole and told me that wasn't the first time he died from a deep steep hole. That what I was afraid of, so I told him don't stand too close on the edge while digging or you will slide down there in the pit. So it look like it going to take me longer than I expected to reopen the mineshaft for the public. I wont abandoned it until I am done, then I will move out of Haven. Btw he asked me who did this "who put those trees there behind the fences?" i wasn't sure what he mean, until i realize he was talking about the one I planted over a week ago. He said "wow" and like it. So we had alittle chat, told him what happen and wondering why i am digging here, etc. So also told him what happen and feel bad for doing this and want to clean up my mess i made. He still want to help, that was the interesting parts. Also told him, i am going to pack up and leave, once i am done reopening the mineshaft. He was upset and didn't want me to leave. He manage to make a little cube hut or shed right next to my plot. So i told him you can have my big cottage i made once i am finish. But he was sad and still didn't want me to leave. Also he wanted to make his own cabin there next to me. Anyway he been asked a lot of questions, like how to plants those trees i did, etc. I told him you can continue to do what i started if you want, after i leave and keep that place clean and nice and neat. As long don't mess with someone mine lol. Hard to tell if this actually a new player or just messing with me. He been around since tried to shut down the mine that very day.
