I think you read too much in to the actions of others. Most people act and react without thought, its just their instinct. This includes the way they interact with other players, it can be effected by many things, their mood, RL events, how much sleep they've had etc etc etc. Sometimes people login and say nothing to anyone for hours, the next time they're contributing in Discord and in GL chat all the time. As always with Wurm, as in life, focus on what makes you happy and don't stress the rest of it.

I'm almost to my 8th full year of playing wurm. I candidly enjoy it as much today as I did at the start with regard to the features and the endless possibilities of things to do and reasons for places to go. Since joining there have been regular game updates in functionality as well as new features and eye candy that keep me interested. I'm someone that likes to explore all aspects to the game and therefore often in many different places randomly setting upon a task or sometimes just freelance roaming about letting the game take me in a direction or activity. I play the game for entertainment, some escapism, and relaxation. It has been a good value in that regard of what it gives back to me for what I put into it. Over the years I've had encounters that have been joyous and not so joyous. The down experiences are often brief and limited, while joyful moments more regularly populate my hours of play. When playing , often I'll watch netflix, or amazon prime, listen to music, or chat on discord with fellow wurmians. To that end it has been relatively even keel and has afforded me the gifts of meeting some amazing people and building lasting friendships without ever a bump in the road. Over the last 9 or so months, it has been peculiarly different. There seems more tension in the air, players perhaps in heightened angst are chewing on each other more than normal in a community so well known for being far above the gaming average in community kindness, maturity, helpfulness. Moreover, players often socialize in a variety of mediums/manner sharing and making connections of substance where it's not uncommon that people extend beyond the game realm and into parts of their real life and support each other through good and bad. One of the beauties of wurm is that there is no one way or correct way to play it. There is also something for a great variety of play styles and personalities whether it be crafting, exploring and salvaging, combat play against other players, becoming merchants hawking goods for profit, being engineers building networks of roads, bridges, tunnels to connect wurmians to each other across the vast landscape, hunters of meats and hides, or the ultra class of player that wants to skill to the maximum in as many categories possible or amass skill titles for bragging rights. With that said it's hard to imagine where someone doesn't belong other than those that cheat in some manner of the game whether by fraud, mechanics exploit, account theft, or being an extremely toxic player stealing other's joy of playing. It hasn't been until recently, that i'm really finding it harder at times to hold on to that joy of playing and feeling part of and accepted in this community. There has been some ongoing needling at the way in which I speak, the length, the word choice. Sometimes being an independent thinker sharing thoughts that may depart from group mentality has caused ire. Sometimes talking at all is met with complete non response leaving me to question myself as if there is something perhaps wrong in what i'm doing. This oddly has not come in any meaningful way years prior. At times it has me question whether I continue to play or not, not because i don't enjoy the game but that I don't enjoy how I'm made to feel being just me. As I have not changed in any substantive way over the years, I'm of the thinking that this must be either an overall atmosphere change to wurm community or it is related to the company I keep, who and where I socialize. I'm not convinced I'm so different or some aberration. When looking over the years at the wurm community and considering those that have been removed from the game as problem players, I don't see there is any commonality there either. What I am convinced of is there are others in the game either like me or would appreciate my way of being and my style of game play. I'm not solely a pve player nor pvp player, I sometimes dabble in selling some goods and services for the fun/immersion aspect to the game yet by no means any prolific seller in any regard. I tend to just play, doing a little of everything and eventually amassing skill along they way vs any intentional grinding. It keeps me from burnout. I also tend to rather play the game as an exploration of some far away land and derp vs for skill titles or profit selling. I am betwixt. Part of me thinks it best to leave wurm. A greater part of me has plans to consolidate my deeds, disbanding the bulk living in one location. Another endeavor is to make a large scale "hiking" trail around xanadu meant not for prizes or contest other than the contest within yourself. A trail that is meant as an experience of a different kind where what happens along they way organically builds an experience or who you choose to take the journey with and the laughs and predicaments you find yourself in while travelling. If any of what you read speaks to you, I'd like to hear about it, here or in pms. This is just an open ended thought log meant to convey what's on my mind recently and what I hope from it. I'd like to find others to do some activities with that are more aligned in this manner. I've not been super successful, of recent, in venues and activities I've taken part in.

The gladiator fights were pretty damn entertaining, it was meant to be a temporary building for the impalong but i couldn't bring myself to get rid of the arena xD. Though the last couple 1v1 fights got real silly, people taking 10+ minutes to lose basically no health. Enki and co spawning in huge waves of enemies in there was hilarious crazy fun though.

I think I understand where Bloodscythe maybe coming from on this topic. Sometimes WURM seems unthusiastic, but also the last year I have noticed we lost a lot of long term players who were fairly entrenched in the game and community. I don't know if they have left due to burnout or at times seemingly lack of new content. I know the DEV team has a bunch on their plate. WURM is so unique and has so much potential, I fear what will happen if it goes away. I dread that day. There is no game like it at this point in time. Lately it does seem like the community tends to gnash their teeth more at certain threads. We are better than that, and we are all unique individuals and shouldn't be gnashed at for expressing our thoughts.

Former member of said depressive society. Am no longer, which I am eternally thankful for. I've actually suspected such to be your case from even my limited interactions with you, Johnston. Sorry to hear that you still battle with it - I'm sure there are those here who would offer their support if you ever needed it, myself included. I don't typically share my personal experiences via internet.. I find it to be in bad taste and generally unappealing to the vast majority of people whom are simply there to have fun. That said Wurm has one of the few communities where people generally associate with one another on a deeply personal level, one of the many things that sets Wurm's community apart from the others is the deep level of caring and kindness that can be found where it is least expected. (Or at least, that's how it used to be) I'll make it as brief as possible, though an experience such as this is quite difficult to summarize; I was diagnosed as a Cataplexic with Manic Depressive Disorder around age 13, roughly 3 or 4 years before I found Wurm - I've been put on many different regimens of pills to try to lessen or contain the symptoms of the mood disorder, not a one of which ever helped more than it hurt. Sleep is the most troublesome for me, as I deal with extremely vivid and sometimes graphic hallucinations of reality while in a half-sleep state of wakeness, while unable to move my extremities or call out for help. Just two years ago, I managed to cure myself of the depression, completely, entirely, and unexpectedly. I won't go too far into detail as to what it was that made this happen, as you'd need to delve into the science and research of psychoactive hallucinogenic substances, and what works for one person WILL NOT work for just anyone. For those reasons alone it's quite rare that I even get to talk about it, and I do so now with the understanding that this post will probably get deleted anyways. I'm not making a recommendation here whatsoever, as something like that could spell your end if you're particularly prone to being unstable. But depression is something that doctors can not, or will not, help you permanently cure - And mostly for reasons of monetary gain. The reward, in that sense, from this kind of experimentation can quite literally be your freedom if done correctly and under the right conditions. It helped me to explore my own mind and make peace with the failures and inadequacies I for so long lamented over. It allowed me to see past the curtain or veil of darkness that once shadowed even the most beautiful of sights. I will never forget the feeling of purpose and everlasting worth I was endowed with on that day. It was as if I had lived my whole life in a black and white movie, only to be suddenly thrust into this beautiful world of vibrant color, purpose, and majesty - All of which made it just so worth being here that I've never once looked back. Do not ever lose hope. Maybe today is bad, but tomorrow doesn't have to be. There are always steps you can take to make tomorrow better. Sometimes it's merely a matter of finding the steps, and amassing the sheer willpower to take them.

Hello, I don't post much but people suggested to post about it here so here it comes. I am in no way a webdev, I have no aesthetic sense, it's not pretty, it's functional to certain extent. This is just a proof of concept, instead of messing around with ingredients and checksums, why not simply pick an affinity you want and have it presented to you in form of ingredients? As some o you know, we have worked out the new cooking system around xmas last year. This was quite profitable for a while, then prices went down to a point where laziness takes over profit. Used a spreadsheet for most of that time but since there are other tools available, I made this. Instructions are on the website, just few bullet points. Does not work for bugged toons, no point since all toons can be fixed. Only uses plain oven, too lazy to add a choice of rare/supreme More choices added. Test meal is bear meat + corn, both whole (not chopped, not minced, not diced) in a pan in plain oven (non-rare etc.) In top dropdown pick which affinity you got from the test meal, under that pick affinity you want to get from your meal. Choose number of ingredients. Those are additional ingredients, on top of "forced" bits like meat+ at least one vege in meal or sausage in pizza. At some point I will add an option to exclude ingredients which user doesn't have so for example it won't use parsley if you don't have any and toggle it off. For now, dragon meat, human meat, pumpkins and some other things I don't remember are switched off. Did not add that because I don't want to force players to create yet another account just to be able to save their ingredient sets. At some point i'll sit down and either add saving cookies locally or generate a 01 string which can be copy-pasted to text document and then back to the website to re-use the settings. I am limiting the ingredients to only chopped because same type plain + chopped does jack all other than filling the pan I suggest meals to people who don't have magic chest, easy and quick to make, with rubbish quality herbs and half-decent veggies you can get 6h+ affi on 20 ingredient meal Pizzas are a bit of an overkill but if you have the time to use up 12h+ affi timer from one bite, go for it. magic chest is a must for those in my opinion as they take a while to make. This was tested by dozens of people, I have been posting it in GL-Freedom, only one complaint but this is an odd one. Apparently one of the payers is affected by an odd bug where the test meal gives him one affi today but another one tomorrow. It bounces between the 2 affi depending on Wurm's mood. I have not pinpointed what can be wrong there yet but chances are that someone is messing with his head and swaps the test meals while he's offline Resolved, user error. If you are missing some of the ingredients, you can generate another combination for the same affinity. If the generator times out, try again, changing number of additional ingredients helps as well. Most important thing, especially to those who are new to Wurm or cooking in Wurm. If generator uses chopped ingredient, it must be chopped. I had people complaining that affinity doesn't match what they were looking for, after more investigating than it was worth, I asked for a screenshot of the pan contents before cooking them just to find out that they decided not to chop some or any of them. Missing one ingredient is another common problem. List is presented in alphabetical order, sort your FSB contents by name as well, makes it much easier. This is hosted on the cheapest Microsoft Azure SQL server (5DTU) so it may be slow, especially if many people use it at the same time. Again, it's just a proof of concept, I might expand it and scale the server up but not too pushed about it. Happy cooking! http://wurm.azurewebsites.net/

T Shirt, Coffee mug, Mouse pad please in this...I'd very much buy atleast one. This by far is a Must! Not only does it apply to wurm and a great insider humor and Lore builder, but it has great universal appeal in a very catchy way to a far wider Audience begging the prospective person to wonder who is this Gurn..what is this Gurn, why are so many talking about Gurn, imagine your internet browswer Trending Gurn. Who is Gurn? is ever as worth as some of these hugely successful advert slogans...." Got milk?", " Taste the Rainbow" , "Who is John Galt?", "I'm Lovin' it" "Have it Your way", "Just Do It", "What can Brown do for You?", "when it Rains it Pours", "Finger Lickin' Good".......

This is still an issue, Someone build a bridge (most likely to bother us), and it is two tiles wide, and 50+ long. As bashing it damages it less than 1.0 it will take quite a while to make the bridge gone. Please fix this some way or help us with a GM or something.

Tried it - the long-press issue seems to be fixed: if I set a keybind to "Z" that way it shows correctly as such and the action is played correctly. But setting keybinds in console is broken: Which means if I set "bind Z close" it will show up as "Y" in the context menu and I need to use Y there. Looks like the console setting is not taking account the actual keyboard layout but the English one.

Do any of my fellow Wurmians here have depression? I ask because having someone in the same situation to relate to tends to be the best talking therapy. Personally I have been diagnosed with what they used to call dysthymia and now call persistent depression disorder. I've been dealing with it for about 8 years and it particularly gets bad at night. If any of you folks who share the same hobby need someone to relate to I am a pretty good listener. I would not mind having somebody in the same situation to talk to. Comedy tends to be something that helps me cope.

When a global spell is cast, only the caster is displayed in Area History. Display all links too. I'm not aware of a way to see who was linked today. It would enable people to see who make a global cast. An unknown alt casting is one thing, the mains is another. It can be information useful to players and it's only fair to be known. Consider it a stopgap, before the way rites are implemented will/should/might be revised.

Yes!!! I was a spoon! I forgot about the gladiator event!! As soon as you mentioned it, it all came rushing back into my head... that was probably the most strenuous part of the impalong for me. I remember I was up to fight and it took me literally 5 minutes to log back in and load up the world. Then the computer would behave for about 2 1/2 minutes until it'd go non responsive and i'd have to use the task manager to close down the app via processes. Didn't much matter, though. I didn't make it far in the tournament. Niki was the only one who fell victim to me. I also forgot to mention the other "impalong" that you and I attended together. That was fun too. It was over at Aly and Xallo's place on Indy... it was either a halloween or easter event. I think halloween...

Maybe. My impression is that that guy is crazy for getting his name at the line "<name> casts Rite of Spring" I may be wrong here, I am quite new in that stuff, and my priest never came even close to casting a global spell, and is not premed right now. I don't know the benefits of repeatedly casting a global spell. But what are the advantages of casting that spell again and again, disrupting events, pissing off lots of players? Looks like pathological vanity or other mental issue to me. .

Can you guys see who is working to fill the pool vs who is casting it though? Can you guys see who is casting multiple times with different alts? You seem to think people are mad because someone is sitting there intentionally stealing the casts why because. No, the problem is a group who needs it works for it and then another group steals it without putting the effort. Or maybe 2 groups or more put in the effort but only 1 benefits. The goal does not reward effort. It rewards who can be online longer/who can be more lucky/who can have less of a life. Just like the rifts goal. This seems to be something the staff seems to be really fond of and your player base is telling you we hate it. Stop it!

I had a blast hosting the one at my deed on exo, was amazing fun seeing all the efforts of my alliance come together and go so well. Plus from a personal perspective i really enjoyed another excuse to show off my deed. I hadn't attended an impalong since the days of MRH and JKH until hosting one myself so it was a hell of a learning experience. I wanted to make it a yearly event but i've just not had the time to arrange another been so busy irl. Someday maybe...

Hmm my favourite impalong?... For me, now, my favourite would have to be any that I don't run myself I can enjoy the banter, cause a little mischief and even get some of my own tools imped without feeling guilty of taking others time up. Yes the impalongs are quite different these days to my own, the perms.. buildings (multi story) were all things we couldnt even imagine having back then. But the one thing that I will always carry in my heart from the times I did host them, and being a guest at the ones in recent years is the fantastic community we have here. The hosts work tirelessly all year preparing for the event, gathering materials, building areas for the workers..they give up so much time for the feeling of helping others. I fully appreciate what it takes to commit to hosting and I applaud all of you that step up and welcome everyone through your doors. From the day the community arrive on that first morning, excitement and anticipation of the fun days ahead to the sad farewells on the very last day.. makes it all worthwhile. I have met some amazing people during my time hosting Impalongs and made some wonderful memories along the way. May the history of Impalongs continue for many years to come and I wish every single person who takes the job on, the best of times and enjoy them all!

The sad reality is these journals were made with Wurm Unlimited experience in mind by a dev that plays and codes a server there for years instead of playing Wurm Online. The place where if you look at twitter you can see all the WU servers that can spam out rites like nothing. It's obvious when journal goals had to be bug fixed because of examples like when it said you could build a bridge solo, which is only possible in WU. I'm all for community events but forced community events just means forced exclusions. Everyone that sermons or prayers contributes effort towards a rite but not everyone will get to participate. I don't need anything more than hypotheticals to tell me priests will be left out. Even large groups will have people in other time zones, working, unable to make it, or the group hates and will not include. Look at Yellowfinger, I always felt what he did wasn't helpful but I never felt it was banworthy as it didn't break any rules in my eyes. Now, you give people like that something they can actually steal that will actually legitimately harm everyone else's gameplay, so what's the solution when that happens? Create more rules to ban more people? Then what about the priests that already casted the rites when they were harder to get the requirements to cast? I'm told the rite doesn't count unless it was done after journals were added and the specific tier unlocked, which isn't fair to people either and none of this gives me any encouragement to find out if it's correct or not. If people that already casted had it count which is easily provable for the entirety of twitter's history in wurm (the last 8? years maybe), it would decrease the amount of exclusions out there. Considering the 100 faith priests that already casted probably don't want to waste everyone's time sermoning but not helping sermon would mean people won't want to invite those that didn't help, It would be another step in the right direction, but that's like wrapping dog droppings in 1 ply tissues until you are finally comfortable holding it. I mean odds are my alliance will gather people together to include everyone so I may not have anything to worry about for any of my priests if I want the journal completed, but not everyone has that same opportunity of a big inclusive alliance or even want to be in one at all. Should they be excluded from the same opportunity?
