I don't get this "not everything has to be easy just earn it lol" fighting response. The devs force this on us as working with the community, which is exactly what has been attempted several times now and getting it sniped by others in the community. I prayed to get rite of spring done on independence, then I swapped faith to get rite of death done on independence. For the rite of death two of us even did 99% or more of the prayers required. All of my own accounts that will ever possibly get Benediction done has participated in a cast. Am I going to sit here smug faced trashing on other people that are putting in more effort than I did to organize something so the community as a whole can continually benefit? No, I'm going to use my experience to say that the current system is absolute trash and does not encourage the community working together and in fact actively prevents it.

I’ve started working with @Yagaon creating a new Exodus Community Map. When I am ready to publish it, I’ll create a new thread. Any questions, please pm me

Why have you still not removed or jerk-proofed the rite journal goal? Time and again, rites have been sniped from those of us trying to organize group casts for everyone's benefit. Time and again, this sniping has been pointed out and alternative goal mechanics have been suggested. So ... Why do you continue to heavily reward PvP-style sniping and punish PvE-style cooperation among PvE players? To put it bluntly, from a player's perspective this is starting to feel like a mindf*ck. This is not a suggestion thread; we have plenty of those already. Please limit discussion to answering these questions. Non-devs, feel free to offer your own theories about the rationale at play here. First post below reserved for summary of answers and/or theories.

Lead? Lead viens can have up to 10000 clicks yet there useless with only 2 items to my knowledge. Some areas are flooded with these useless viens. Anchers and lumps to make a Larder. Maybe we should add fence bars and ribbons as well as nails and maybe a few other items Like lead wieghts for fishing pole. Or maybe we should have lead viens act like rocksalt viens and have min 51 clicks. Passangers slots added to wagon on the front with the driver. On WU Foreverlands server I did add this and was great with plenty room for 3 people up front. Tabs- Combat, Freedom, Ca, Trade, Gl Freedom need to have the float feature. Pets need there own pet bar. Pet bar is like the Select bar but has follow attack and clear order keys. Pet needs to auto follow player. Priest need a spell bar that has min of 6 spell slots that can have min 6 spells. All furniture needs to be under the wood color system. Decorating a house is so dull with the one color system we are not amish well most are not. Level feature needs to have dig to pile. Animals need to have sounds again with the option to turn that sound off. 50% want it 50% don't so do it make it a option. Need to increase the shop signs to have other stuff like tree orchards etc.. Rose, lavender, camellia,an oleander bushes need non harvest season models top go with the harvest season models. Ending list here I can go on with other stuff but this will do for starters.

As title says, give rotting touch on a gathering tool a chance equal to cast power to destroy whatever you're gathering, for skilling or terraforming or making huge caves or whatever you do that you don't want to leave junk lying around decaying everywhere after, lowering the property value

As far as lead goes, all weapons, tools and armor can be made of any metal, including lead. So there are more uses than just the few you mentioned.

The problems with the current global spell journal goal are widely evident. Suggestion: Casting a rite triggers a 24 hour window in which the same rite can be cast repeatedly without limit on that server. All benefits (sleep bonus, char gains) can be claimed only once in this window, regardless of number of casts. This would put an end to the drama and maintain the spirit of cooperation intended by the devs. Plus, it seems fitting: major real-life religious ceremonies are performed by multiple groups in multiple locations. The limiting factor is not the number of participants but the time period, such as the summer solstice for a druidic gathering. A time window would make a good in-game analogue of this.

Wargasm, your strawmanning is getting tiresome. No one is arguing for easiness.
  10. 1 point
The congestion is 100% the reason it is difficult, I acknowledge that. But my point is that that is how the journal entry was DESIGNED. The devs have already met you halfway by allowing links to get credit for having casted it (just imagine the drama THERE!), and people only need to do it once per priest, so the demand will go down over time.

As per the title says... 150s for sale... they come from a long time of hoarding that need to be reduced to a more decent amount. No blood diamonds, scams or weird mafia thingy involved at all! I swear on my post count! 1s for 0.95e - might toss in extra silvers in case of bad fees on your side / larger discount for large amount. Will be through CoD - as a gift/familly thing through paypal verified accounts - silvers will be sent as soon as the cash will sit in mah paypal account! (Once again, no scam here... I just had a few bad experiences the other way around!)

That's an interesting take. But it feels kind of "incomplete", as this window will have no added benefit to the casts effect, so it's another suggestion that only addresses the issue with attaining the goal without being a guerilla caster yourself, not so much the whole sniping kerfuffle itself. (It avoids the problem on a systematic level though, that's something at least) If subsequent casts had some benefit to the ritual's secondary effect, with diminishing returns, I could get behind this though. Holy Crop gives more yield bonus, Rite of Spring's "boat buff" is extended, Ritual of the Suns Nutrition boost cap increases (nearing 100 nutrition slowly), Rite of Death's head wound damage is repeated. (RoD is a stunted version of itself on PVE anyway, giving them something instead on Freedom is a different issue.) None of that should be too overpowered, but still giving an incentive, if the bonus was halved each time. So RoS can only close in on 48 hours total, RotS very slowly pushes nutrition to 100, RoD wounds can get "bad" at best rather than medium...perhaps diminishing returns should be toned down for HC to make sense, but you get where I'm going with this.

Some may be able to tell, although I sample across a wide spanse of genre, I like songs with blues overtones or some underground industrial back beat most. This one is a sneaker in that the lyrics, song, impact comes at you far later then you like wow...reminds me of that delayed wut tha on the dragon.

Of course the hottest garbage take of them all comes from you, with the same line of "reason" you always tow without any sort of reflection. Nobody wants it to be easy. Nobody wants to to be handed to them. We want it to be attainable by our (hard) work without the crap shot chance at the end in which it will be taken away by someone else. And to not sow this stupid amount of discord over what should be a community effort. As I said, OP isn't the solution to that, but to say the system is fine "because it's hard and you just want it easy" is just disconnected from all reason and reality.

A change like that I could get on board with. E.G. Change the goal to something like; Contribute [ridiculous number] points to your deity's overall favor pool. or something similar. LOL, it's not like there aren't already plenty of those out there. I wish you luck, but I've been trying to hold the Devs accountable for their own actions for years, and it's still a struggle to this day. Perhaps we just need more people doing so.

Don't piss off those pay2win mf'ers and you won't have this problem, maybe learn who and who not to step to. All I can say. If you know you're talking to the guy who can log in and prem enough alts to just do the damn cast themselves, I wouldn't really tell them "no" unless you have your finger hovering over the "cast" button. All things considered, Freedom is PvP nowadays. I mean there is no actual PvP, so it has to happen somewhere right? How many Freedomers do you think, percentage wise, actually like and welcome new neighbors unconditionally? Personally I've seen many people driven away from the game entirely by "neighbors" that immediately take hostile action because they don't want "their" land "encroached on" - Which is a nice way of saying that these greedy ####s don't want you touching their perimeter or the land around their deed that they don't even pay for. Just the other day my good friend and long standing neighbor had a blocker shed put in his perimeter because he expanded a SINGLE tile southward. He was immediately verbally attacked by this person the next day upon logging in. Crap like this is much more common than you think. So, where's the relevance? If you don't see how that's relevant you're a moron. Freedom's community is at odds with itself because of the dying nature of the game, and because many of the community-strengthening incentives have been removed or nullified by this point. If you give people the possibility of being a ######, they are going to be a ###### when it suits and or pleases them - That is a fact of life. People are starting to not care about being nice - We don't have the community that we used to, and this is plainly evident by the surge of "toxic" behavior from numerous groups and individuals. The point is, we don't all have as much willpower to be as kind as we possibly can, when none of us are even sure how much longer this game will be around. (and have players) And then, some people are just asshats.

A wonderful little fairytale. Here's what actually happened: Caster says "Holy crop is ready, I can give up to 9 links" Great, they have the right idea, but hours before I already gave a heads up that I planned to do this, also with 10 people. Caster: "Is there still space?" Unfortunately not, but here's the thread I try to organize this in: (Yes, I posted the link in the ingame chat) I then noted, however, that the next cast has 6 links free and it would be wonderful to have a 90+ channelling priest on this roster to maximize links then because I wasn't sure anyone in the backlog had that high channelling. Meanwhile, only 3 people on the roster had the chance to even acknowledge the PM I sent out to them. Without any further notice by the caster, no attempt to contact me or post in thread, they went through with the cast. Therefore: -The caster was more than welcome to participate and be guaranteed a slot in the next cast. I openly invited them to do so. -"The people" were 70% not even present as their attempts to organize this in a civil fashion were just steamrolled by selfishness. -And if by "cut your nose to spite their face" you mean it's arrogance or a merely principled argument why people online are not "preferred", see the same thread that neither you nor the caster probably have read at all. I even explained it to Anarres in a short recap in the last repy of mine, for your reading pleasure, but the problem with this dates back even further. There's actual practical implications If people stopped being so damn egocentrical and considered that not everyone can be online 24/7 and to have any hopeful shot at this except random chance, some form of cooperation is needed, then there will be no more sniping. 'cause I can tell you what, there's no way they used up all the 9 links in such short notice. Except with batteries perhaps. What a treat to try to be as accomodating and fair as possible to everyone (not just whoever happens to be online) and read this kind of crap post implying I shat on the caster for not being there earlier or whatever you think this was.

So what you're saying is they did this regardless of the same cost? It's almost like I refuted your argument before you even made it. Yeah, they'll have it easier, you're right with that. But this is the sort of behaviour you want to stop, not simply be made harder. Trying to regulate behaviour on its own with measures that affect everyone to a slight detriment of the few who won't play nice results in terrible incentives and design choices - see Fatigue for reference. Dealing with griefers is the job of the GMs, not the Devs.

May you finally not have any more pain and ailments that troubled you for so long Eir! Eir was one of the two main GM's that taught me how to GM here in Wurm. Eir is a big and historical name here. I kept up with her situation regularly and kept in contact with her. When we learned what was happening, Shrimpiie was able to go visit her and give her well wishes from us just a couple days ago. This is very sad news. Thank you for informing us here Dizbot.

Currently, the moment a deed disbands, a green-text announcement appears in the 'event' tab and the info goes to Niarja for all to see. This leads to salvagers swooping down immediately on the deeds to loot them, camp them with alts, and/or lock them down in various ways to block access to other players. In essence, it's not at all unlike what happens with uniques. Suggested Change Instead of announcing disbands automatically the moment upkeep runs out, let them disband quietly. An announcement is still made, but not until a player actually steps onto the former territory of the disbanded deed (example event message: 'Player X reports that Deed Y is no more. It disbanded on ...'). Not only does this feel more natural, to me at least, it gives everyone a better chance of stumbling onto the ruins of an old settlement, which for me was some of the most fun I've ever had in Wurm. Even if only for the prestige of being the one to discover the disband (and see one's name in green text), this would give players more reason to venture off deed and explore.

Reading the replies, I get the sense my suggestion has been largely misunderstood. Let me take responsibility for that and set the record straight: the suggested change is pro-salvage. By all means, players should recycle useful stuff abandoned by those gone AWOL. In fact, the whole point of this suggestion is to make the salvage experience just a bit more likely to happen for everyone. The current auto-announcement of disbands incentivizes a dreary style of metagaming and excludes players who are unwilling to engage in it by tracking deed locations, planting alts, setting alarms, keeping calendars, etc. By making the announcement trigger only when the deed area is visited post-disband, more casual players will at least have a chance of stumbling onto an El Dorado. Hardcore salvagers would still have ways to secure an advantage (and arguably they should), but the advantage would not be as huge and exclusionary as it is now. TL;DR Salvage good; rewarding salvage metagaming bad.

There should be no reason why someone should be able to create a ton of no prem alts with pendulums to find uniques and pen them within an hour of them spawning. If you can't see this change as beneficial to stop this practice, then I don't know what would. Personally I think this is a great change in the right direction and will once again allow for the proper hunting of uniques and the ocassional bumping into one by accident, like it used to be. You sir, are a gentleman and a scholar.
