Small PSA: I see a lot misplaced items in the forge and have overheard confusion in the chat. Please make sure that your item is in the appropiate container - checking via the crafting menu is the fastest, most convenient and reliable way to do this. It's in your own best interest to place the items where they are being worked on by people with the neccessary skill, because they may ignore your items or work on them mistakenly while lacking the skill for them, possibly wasting their time or just being inefficient. Most commonly misplaced items are carving knifes, scythes and sickles in BS, which actually belong into Weaponsmithing. Those are honest mistakes though, especially with kitchen and leather knifes being BS. Not sure what to say about the LMS in one BS container though. Also, the new fishing rods are Fine Carpentry now, the legacy rods are still Carpentry as they have always been before the fishing update. Metal fishing reels are JS. Except the deep water fishing reel, which is BS. Yeah, it's confusing as all hell sometimes, so I don't mean to chastise anyone, but to draw attention to the not always intuitive skill assignment in items.

I can't think of a single reason why the following DECORATIONS cannot be secured: 1) Tapestries 2) Rugs and Carpets 3) Pavillions 4) Unique Skulls Imagine the possibilities if we could secure these items! It sucks to show up to your public hotel, only to find out some player stole all yours tapestries because they can't make them themselves, or not being able to drop your pavillion anywhere because it will most definetely be stolen. These are all decorations. It can't be too hard to add the ability to secure them! Lets do this!

Our beautiful market is now open to the public. CLUB Market~Crystal Lake's Utmost Buys~ is a collaboration with multiple players who wanted to create a comprehensive market where people could go to find whatever they needed, but to also provide a relaxing place to visit. I think we've done a pretty awesome job at it too! Currently we have masters in several skills : pottery, leather working, blacksmithing, fine carpentry, and bowyery. We also have runes, bulk goods (bricks of various materials, mortar, and clay) with planks and concrete to soon be added. We have champion animals, hellhorses, bison, and 5 speed horses. All our bulk goods and animals are self service. If we don't have it, and you want it, we can make it! Future plans are for a chapel where sermons can be held. Salacia is always on site to help or answer your questions. Located at P-20 on Indy, it's just a minute walk west from Haven, right on the water. Ample parking on the water, and on nearby enchanted grass. There is also a public use large cart with bulls to haul your goods to your ship. A few screenies to show off our beautiful market:

Hey folks, So I don't know about you, but sometimes I feel like I don't have a grasp of all the items you can build and decorate your deed/home with, just because Wurm has SO much stuff! And unlike most other MMOs out there, in Wurm you can actually drop stuff on the ground and see a 3d model of it which is utterly delightful and amazing. I love it! It's a decorators paradise! So I've always yearned for a visual list of all the stuff, all on one page and have been asking around if anything like that exists. But apparently not? So I went ahead and made one. It's mostly for myself and I was originally going to keep it private because I didn't want to take on the burden of keeping it truthful and up to date. But by the time I was half way done, I started to realize just how handy it is and thought that I might as well share it with the rest of you. So feel free to use it but keep in mind that it will probably have some mistakes and be missing stuff. And I'm probably not going to go to too much trouble updating it either. As you can imagine, the biggest thanks goes to Wurmpedia, as making a list like this would have been pretty much impossible otherwise. Enjoy! Edit: The list used to be on google docs, but I've now moved it to it's new and final location under my own domain: https://www.andrea.net/wurm/items/

In some instances where i travelled or fought on Epic i had massive lag because of the combination of player numbers+rain. I play the game on all low, and have a decent PC, yet the rain breaks my FPS down. Why not allow an option to hide it completely? At least for PVP servers.

I live in an area with a few dozen nearby domestic, crafted bee hives. My Event window is therefore cluttered with irritating, repetitive messages informing me whether I can or cannot hear the sound of bees. I suggest getting rid of these messages, which serve no purpose. I can understand why they're useful for locating wild hives, but there's really no need for them to appear for crafted hives.

So, This game has a population problem. A serious population problem. Lets clear this right now, I do not think it's a mechanical deficit. I think, as it stands, wurm is a perfectly acceptable game that tens of thousands can and would enjoy. The devs are trying very hard to tidy up everything they think is keeping players away, but not addressing a very serious root issue: population flow. If the game had thousands and thousands of unique logins on Golden Valley and there was little change in people playing, I'd recommend a dramatic overhaul posthaste to new player experience. But, as it is, I really do not believe that is the case. I think many of us older players can remember a day when golden valley was a unique land of easy opportunity for a new player to strike out, face some very easy threats, travel a bit, get familiar with the game and experience its community before moving into the bigger the wider world of either freedom or wild. There was hundreds of people playing at any time, even on GV! When Epic was released there was a blast of information trying to drag players back to the game and clearly it brought in a ton of players. As it is the game has been on a steady decline for years and is dangerously close to a point where new players might not be interested in playing because the world theyre stepping in to is so dead. The recent Elevation map reset and item ban, I think, is emblematic of this issue. I am not seeing anyone new from the people who were here 5 or 6 years ago, except more have fallen off due to attrition. My solution is this: Massive advertisement campaign I struggle to see any real engagement on the WO twitter page and I can't really blame anyone as theres not a whole lot to work with. No ad campaigns are being pushed as far as I can tell, no marketing companies are contracted, SEO is very poor! Look at the following: https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/wurmonline.com This tells you a fair bit about the site, and it's not very pretty. The primary driver to wurm online is a google search for wurm online, or wurm forums... I know having someone do SEO is costly, but it could be a huge investment. I believe us the players on both freedom and epic would be more than happy to work with developers in creating marketable content with a third party agency to advertise the game. I think we'd all be incredibly happy to see ads for this game in youtube videos, on facebook, in our feeds, we'd like to see sandbox focused youtubers and mmo focused youtubers be given trial accounts with boosted stats just to drive people to the game. I know a guy like bashur was a dark stain on the games history, but a part of me was genuinely excited to know a small sized youtuber had chosen to give this game a shakedown because it would mean more people! More people means: More pvp More trade More experiences More adventures More community And most importantly, more money to fund further development. The game looks great already, certainly enough that anyone interested in what this game offers won't pass because of it! The mechanics are actually over all pretty good, theres a reason I play this game still after... [02:35:43] You entered through the portal to Wurm on day of the Ant, week 4 of the starfall of Silence, 1028. That's 3492 days, 8 hours and 19 minutes ago. The game is fundamentally good, it just needs more eyeballs by all means necessary! I've even seen players offer to run a kickstarter so we can have an ad campaign. All I ask if you take any of this advice, devs, is to please either consider bringing back golden valley, or turning down aggro mobs massively and make monsters regional spawns again so players arent getting dumpstered 10ft outside the starter deeds. We just want to see the game reach previously unforeseen heights and I believe whatever these big changes and releases for all versions of the game coming around the time of frontier releasing are a great time to capitalize on a big movement in development with big movements in advertisement!!

Hello. Rift will open at 16:30 GMT time on saturday 27/07. In addition I have mapped out route how to reach the location. Since I am neighbour to the rift (some 200 tiles) I can provide you with assistance. I probably wont be able to make it, due to my RL travels, but to the rest that will, good luck.

I'm not on board with rogue actions against other players that may warrant GM intervention, even if I think the player is being malicious/wants to troll. The system is just massively flawed in conjunction with this goal and allows for such behaviour, more for the worse than for the better. Any call out I make is not meant to reach the snipers as I doubt they care. But depending on how numerous it gets, the devs may have to take a hint. Time will tell. Better to just move on for now, though.

Actually I'm glad you said that, because it's similar to something I said in that conversation as well. I said if item count is a problem, then perhaps we could lessen the amount of items allowed to be placed on top of the item. I assume that most wurmians would be happy to sacrifice the "high amount" for having items not decay in exchange. Of course with some items like book shelves and dining tables, we would want more so we could set a table with dishes etc. Not sure how the rest of you feel? Point being: Players would probably be happy to make sacrifices to make this happen?

Just FYI guys. Had a little discussion on Discord with some people and it's not as easy as we might think. So the way that items work when put on surfaces is that they are technically placed in the "container" of that piece of furniture (even though visually they are on the surface). We wanted items on tables and this was a way they could do that. Thus, anything that decays in a container such as a chest, would decay exactly the same way when placed on top of a table. Basically anything that would cause a "Pile of items" on the ground, is something that is vulnerable to decay. The amount of items you can put on that piece of furniture depends on how many items it's container allows. Now the biggest problem if they made a way for items to stop taking decay on tables and such, would be that the world would start to fill with more and more items cluttering up the database and eventually this would cause lag since nothing would be naturally decaying away anymore. In Ultima Online, they had a gardening system where you grew plants and could either keep them "alive" and producing seeds and other resources, or you could convert them into decorative items. That system worked in UO without causing database overload because every house plot had an upper limit to how many items you could "lock down" in it. Something we don't have in Wurm (thank god). But the luxuries that we enjoy in regards to endless inventory need to be controlled in other ways by the devs, so the game doesn't become slow for us. So, although we as players may often think "Oh that should be easy to do" or "devs are lazy" - the truth of the matter is that neither of those facts are true. We just don't know or understand the inner workings and restrictions that the devs need to deal with to make our game as wonderful as it is.

As title says. When you get something like a traitor mission or a cut down tree mission, having sleep bonus wasted because you didn't invite 5 friends to watch you cut down a tree is kinda dumb, and if someone's solo'd a mission by themselves no reason why they shouldn't be rewarded for spending time/resources on it, just give it diminishing returns after 30 mins or something.

Yes it's planned, I'm not going to go into huge detail as I've said it time and time again however. I just cant help myself can I. A big part of all of this is the retention more than reach. We have run several Facebook ad campaigns with a decent click through but almost nil retention. Thus we decided to spend our efforts on improving the new player experience. Being an actual sandbox game means there's little beginning direction, which to the right people is AMAZING, and everything they wanted in the game, but to many it's just too much and not what they want. Others hit a wall of "what now?" They deed their village, build a nice town, and then wonder what to do next. Some begin grinding on skills or working on entering the market, others wander or start again, but a good many do wind up leaving because in the end, they've achieved what they wanted to. As such working on retention is the driving force behind the journal, tutorial, and most updates in the past 8 months or so, as well as a core part of the Frontier update. I've also been working on organic reach, and am in the process of arranging for updated reviews and coverage, not boosted accounts as that gives a disingenuous view of the game, and also doesn't allow for the opportunity starting off. Many mid to large streamers actually request monetary payment in order to stream your game (unless it's one they actually enjoy playing and gets good viewership counts) so we work with our VEN team and do our own streams, and we're working with VEN on getting some small trailers done for possible advertising later. With the frontier update we will be doing some small scale advertising within our budget, but our focus is on retention. Also almost absolutely every site will rank top for direct searches, that site doesn't show much actual information compared to analytics.

I've been solely a freedom player ever since the skill merge while still having been playing freedom before it (or you know, starting on the freedom cluster too), I am not playing new elevation or epic at all still since the merge, and I am even grinding 70 prayer on freedom instead of epic. I still think it's fair for epic and freedom to share a skill set rather than just one way, and I have absolutely nothing to gain from it. What's not fair is people on the freedom cluster demanding everything that was unique to epic and then continuing to treat epic like second class players that deserve nothing and should be ashamed for even asking

5-6 years before epic was released is at least 1 year before wurmageddon, even worse off when you talk about drawing stages. I'm not sure if you understand that epic is nearly 8 years old The rest of your post is a whole lot of rage and not a whole lot of actual fact. You aren't even taking in to account that most people pre epic did not have the option for endless sleep powder, because sp with prem wasn't a thing. The one thing you did get right was that the merge wasn't fair, because in many cases it took away too much skill.

Giving people a free ride to the top does exactly that, it devalues the hard work and effort people on Freedom have to put into their skills WITHOUT having nearly 3x skillgain with guaranteed tick rates. Changes taking the game in this direction due to overbearing pressure from the players who invested in Epic (and were eventually regretful it) are one of the major contributors to the current poor state of the game's retention rate (and generally declining populace) of Wurm itself. I know many people who started playing Wurm pre-beta whom up and left once the Epic skill transfers happened the first time around - And you cannot tell me that coincides with anything other than those players having felt shafted by the decisions made, and their progress and skills feeling devalued to the point the game no longer held their interest. WU also had a major role to play in this as well. If the transfer algorithm was actually fair, I might be able to support it. I'm not a fan of anyone feeling as though their efforts were meaningless. But the first time around they definitely were not "fair". Because I know someone will try and ###### about that last statement; If you disagree with me on that, take a look at how many originally Epic-only accounts are currently in the top 100 on Niarja. Most the top end Freedom accounts existed for multiple years (5 or 6) before Epic was even in the drawing stages of life - And some of them have been grinding nearly every day of real time since then. The fact that Epic accounts were coming over with comparable stats and skills, often even more, is absolutely atrocious and is clearly symbolic of a problem in the skill transfer algorithm. Sure, someone on a new server that's only existed for 4 or 5 years could potentially just put in double the amount of time as the person on freedom - But we both know that is not the case. Epic is attractive to casual players who want PvP, that's even what it was marketed as. Especially when the hardcore freedom players are putting in 6 to 8 hours a day. Realistically the only reason any of those accounts got to the point they are at, is due to WoO's and the cheesed skillgain system on Epic. Even semi-hardcore dominantly-Epic-based players have admitted to me that Epic was the single biggest Window of Opportunity the game has ever seen. Those players will deny such claims of course, because they want to reap the benefits of exploiting said broken system - And they even informed me of that as well. I sincerely hope CCAB doesn't continue to make the same mistakes (these kinds of changes) that have dug the game a steep rut in the ground until today - But I definitely don't have any faith that it will stop, in part due to the pressure from the easy-mode players, and in lack of competence and assertiveness for a future vision of the game itself.

Join Elevation Today. Most fun I've had in a long time. Jenn-Kellon the smallest kingdom message @Gofs Mol Rehan the second most populated kingdom message @Olloch Horde of the Summoned the most populated kingdom message @FranktheTank or @Moonpoppy Any Kingdom will function mostly the same and you'll have a blast. I'd encourage people to Join Jenn-Kellon to try and balance the numbers out a bit more. Three kingdom fights are always more fun and messy! See you all on the battlefield!
