you might find it that certain games, including Wurm, tend to appeal to laptop's integrated GPUs (and most laptops have an integrated video card as well) . The way i combated this is by going into the Nvidia control panel and setting the javaw application to only be ran with the dedicated GPU. Idk if this would help, but it's good practice to do on laptops against wurm.

People who knows me, knows also that I am an forever adventurer. At least used to spend 3/4 of my time in wilderness for years. During every travel, I used to meeting new players. If I had no more important things to go after, I tend to talk to new people and help them for a day or two. Making some tools, gathering as much resources as i could in several hours. Explaining things... but also there were situations when i decided to stay longer at newbies places. Protecting them and fencing till they could fight bears on their own or decide to build towers. Just like you said, if youre a new player, you might find a lot of interactions, from just a talk to even unexpected help, visitors. Thing is, in past few months i've met only 2 or 3 random new players on my ways. While not long ago Ive seen them on almost every journey. Maybe i got unlucky, maybe not. In fact i don't believe in luck or lack of luck. Only analyze what i see.

It is possible to assign a keybind via context menu to planting seeds in a planter. Hovering a planter in a racks inventory and pressing said bind does not appear to work, however.

Seriously..... a skill where it's best to "stop at 50" and only use 5 traits of the 17 available. THAT IS BAD CODE! THAT IS NOT SANDBOX, THAT'S WoW COOKIE CUTTERING! A skill where you are punished for going beyond 5 traits because the RNG goes so insane that even breeding both parents with the same traits (7 in my hell horses' case) results in having to cull between 1/2 and 4/5 of the foals in order to keep a bloodline of 5 speeds with the desired traits. To add insult to injury, the undesired traits tend to overwrite one of the 5 speed traits. OF COURSE it will result in massive herds being kept, gotta throw quantity at the RNG to stand a chance against the statistics. Suggestion: add a modifier to the trait probability code where on top of the usual chances to pass the parents' trait, an extra possibility of success is calculated based on one's AH level.

Quite the exaggerated ending to your psychological analysis here. If any individual has a propensity towards some sort of socially unacceptable behavior labeled as "mental illness" it certainly is not brought on by playing Wurm in such a way that they get more satisfaction from it than the other world out there. Rather on the contrary it can be a soothing escape from the problems and interactions of the other life. If this is the case then playing the game could be looked upon as just the opposite of your warnings of doom, that being a sort of healing place of refuge for some period of time in terms of any anxiety. Lets leave these speculative mental health assessments to the professionals who attempt to do it on an individual basis by dealing with those in need who think they might benefit from their advice. Any sweeping statements such as the above have no bearing when thrown out on a see-who-they-stick-to basis. The only time I see a problem with playing Wurm Online is when people neglect their responsibilities in RL and even in that case it is not my responsibility to lecture them as to how to arrange their lives. I think you have strayed too far from the path of this Thread in your warnings of the road to madness that Wurm could become. I know more about this game than you Acerifle. I remember the early pmks. That won't happen again because pmk's at the start were so fledgling and new figuring everything out. Populations were spread out everywhere template and pmk it worked well because of that. PMK's of the late generation are awful. Stop trying to restart Kingdom of Sol.

Same as Atazs above, 2x3x with things like even faster mining and saccing to manipulate where your rare rolls go feels like the server would just hit the endgame ceiling asap.

So, you're still not going to actually explain what you think is problematic about this situation? Your argument literally seems to be: "I'm going to get them all anyways so why'd you have to make it harder for me" You're so much against this change and yet you still, 2 pages later, haven't formulated a single sentence that actually explains a fault in the new system and how it could be overcome. Maybe try thinking of an argument that's a little more sophisticated than "u guise r idiets wah" Currently as it stands, hunting parties are still fully viable as they were always meant to be, but no unique will be penned and killed less than 3 hours after it spawns since... you won't even know when that is. Consolidating between different people's interest and perceptions is always tricky; if I were new and had a dragon terrorize me only to be saved by dozens of strangers dropping everything to slay the beast, I'd think that was pretty epic. Knowing the community, some of them would probably help me rebuild any fences and walls if my deed was attacked, too. Point being, for what it's worth, it may allow for some more interesting interactions between players with most of the railing removed. EDIT: Though to be fair, I would still stay without such interactions while others may be disgruntled by them and leave, so this doesn't refute your concern about retention. Just adding a perspective.

So the devs are now thinking about over-complicating something that doesn't need to be complicated. Complexity doesn't necessarily equal "good." Ever heard of the KISS principal? Too many things in Wurm are getting way more over-complicated than they need to be. Sadly I've come to expect it now though. Every time we get a new so-called feature or convenience, it has to be accompanied by something about it that's guaranteed to p*ss off as many people as possible. Why is that? It wouldn't surprise me if things being too over-complicated is one of the things that scares off new people.

Sure thing. The contracts are marked "noDrop" to prevent them from being used for storage, so I just need to find a way to work round it. Already started, but not done yet.

It's more that the situation was getting so incredibly toxic that we felt we needed to step in and address the major outcry first. It's all well and good to wait until the major overwork is ready, but sometimes an interim measure must be taken to ensure the situation doesn't get out of hand.

As you all know, I am fairly critical of the devs, but in this instance I will point out this whole post is purely FUD. How is making a change that applies equally to everyone favoring one group over another? Pendulums favor those that have the ability, time and alts to exploit it and twitter alerts favor those online at the moment by giving them a heads up to begin searching over others that simply happen to be asleep. How does "nothing" benefit anyone in specific? Besides are you accusing staff of giving one group preferential treatment over another? You got any proof or are you just creating FUD?

I was there the day Inde opened. I was in the armada that crossed from JKH. I watched the split: some going straight, some left, some right, as we fanned out to meet the land. It stands out as one of, if not THE, greatest memories for me in Wurm.
