    Hi all, We’ve been aware of the discussions on the forums regarding the desire for a completely new and fresh experience in PvP on Epic. The issue we face with this is the long term requirement in order to set something like this up. As such we've compiled a list of changes we can make in a short timeframe that we feel address the majority of issues raised. Everything below is planned for just after the end of june update about a month from now, but is dependent on a vote to be held soon to see if the majority is in favor of a reset to the Elevation map and some pretty heavy mechanic changes for epic in general. Everything below is not final and we are more then open suggestions of things to add/remove/change. Larger changes to Epic as a whole are planned for later in the year, and will include any successful changes over the next few months as well as extra planned content and changes for that time. Changes below are all Epic Only Changes and some are also Elevation Only Changes General Changes(All of Epic) New 2k Sized Map by Ausimus This week we will open a public poll on the forums to vote on the possibility of a new map for Elevation. The current 4k map size is a bit large so we would like to go back to a 2k size map. This map will be a temporary map and will be unlikely to be around past the end of this year we have future plans that could easily force Elevation to change again in the future. Resetting of the map would also come with no new map given for the first month or two, allowing for exploration and unexpected confrontation. Deeds disbanding on a set number of chain drains(Elevation Only) A common complaint is deeds can be near impossible to disband even after its clear the owner has not been defending it in days. Our current plan is to require 5 drains in a row to disband a deed but we are open to suggestions on what number of drains in a row should trigger an auto disband of that deed. Meditation effects will cap out at 9, effect above 9 will no longer work on epic. Scaling SOTG is disabled meaning no sotg at all. Hate path creature damage effect will be changed to something non damage boosting. Insanity Clean wound will be reworked to heal more wound types. Balancing all the effects over level 9 are just not viable in the time we have, we propose disabling meditation skills/passives over level 9. These will be revisited in the future when there is more time to spend on Meditation as a whole. Stone Skin, True Strike, and Continuum will have their cooldowns drastically increased to 1 hour. Currently these spells are way to powerful and can be cast almost endlessly with enough karma. We are looking for some feedback on what you think good cooldown lengths might be for each of these spells on their own. Physical Damage Resistance/Penalty will be replaced by Fall Damage. Stacking DR can get a bit crazy, the idea behind this is to change the physical damage valrei trait and replacing it with fall damage similar to the water damage one. Rare vehicles will no longer increase the speed of an under crewed boat it will now increase its cargo. This perk has been long known to be one of the best rare item bonuses in the game for pvp, we would like to remove the passenger bonus and instead allow rare+ boats to have increased cargo areas instead. 30% increased cargo space per rarity level Reduce Hell Horse Speeds Hell horses might be a little too fast, we are looking for ideas on how you would like to see them slowed down some ideas include reducing rare shoe bonus and removing the always on speed traits. Combat skill Soft Caps To help balance out the top tier accounts vs people just joining we would like offer a sort of soft cap on some combat related skills including body stats. This would not make leveling them any slower but would reduce your effectiveness per level in that skill above a set level for each. Your total carry weight(for example) and other less combat oriented areas will still receive full benefit from levels. Open up quick travel between any server border with a 1 hour cooldown for everyone on the boat before they may cross using that again. Many know that sailing between servers on the epic cluster can turn into 2+ hour long trips, I would like to find some reasonable limit to help prevent abuse but I think we can find a good middle ground any suggestions appreciated. Speed up horse breeding Currently losing too many horses in a short period can mean sitting back for weeks to restock. The current plan is to speed up gestation to roughly 2 days until birth but leave growth periods the same. Remove Karma Recall(Along with recall being gone will mean no teleporting out of stupid situations you might get into). It’s no fun to be tracking someone down from a sticky situation they got into and for them to just vanish from being cornered back to a safe deed with everything they own. Map Reset Specific Changes (Elevation Only) Reduce the max slope you can dig to something under 300 while keeping the skill you need to dig it the same. This will make creating massive dirt walls a bit harder and allow more people to help build deeds instead of requiring 99+ digging accounts to finish walls. Reduce the max rock you can surface mine and place mine doors on while keeping the skill required the same. Rock pits are an issue as they add onto dirt walls, though with mine door restrictions below might not be needed feed back on this appreciated. Can only have 4 mine doors placed on any given 11x11 area and must have 3 spaces between each individual mine door. We all know of the current mine door meta, we would like to end that with this new map and put some hard caps on the amount of mine doors in a given area. We’re looking for your feedback on this all but won’t be responding immediately, instead we’ll be collecting some questions and things to discuss on the devstream later today.

    I'm on Xanadu, South West Island of New Spring, but I'd be willing to sail over if you are able to meet me on the coast somewhere? Preferably East or South coast-line which would make it easy for me to head back home. Obviously, this would be better off as a wost/last case scenario, as I'm more than sure you'd find someone on Deli to assist you, though I figured I would at least throw it out there for the time being.     Remember the nasty bug that deleted your boat when you crossed servers? The GM team was very helpful, Enki even spawned in a new rowboat to replace the crappy one I had built and lost to this bug while on the way to an impalong. Every interaction I've had with the GM team has been positive. Not invalidating other's experiences, just adding mine to the list.

    Do you have discord or anything? i have actively played between early 2010 to mid 2014 so i know a lot of how it was and what i think should be be changed, removed and kept. The current cooking system, and fishing system for one should be removed.

    The old emotes were so good. Honestly, even if we could only get a WU emote voice and horse surfing patch, I would be happy. Though a classic server would be fantastic.

    @Darklords @Retrograde @Buddha Suggestions: If I haven't mentioned it below then I'm down with it. Removing features from the game is removing reasons to play Epic. Yes, I do agree some things should be changed or removed. If you want ACTUAL NEW PLAYERS to play Epic again. Then create an equal 1:1 transfer/skill system. I watched us lose nearly 100% of new players after the current transfer/skill system was implemented. No one asked for a new skill system for Epic only and it is not wanted. A new skill system for the entire game with Epic "mechanics" and plus 50% of freedom skill gain would be a better option for everyone. The Epic mechanics, specifically this, are atleast more logical. Sorcery overhaul: Truestrike - Let's all be honest. It's probably way past time to remove this entirely. Just remove this one. This will have the largest impact on the meta. Stoneskin - 30 minute cooldown. Continuum - DR changed to 10% without cooldown. Later on it would be nice to rework the weakest of sorcery spells into something new along with some bug fixes and buffs for some them to make them useful. Meditation issues: Any change made to meditation needs to be made for the entire game or none should be made at all. If you remove level 9+ meditation then we will end up with spell meta times 2. Spells were powered up a bit to much as it is. Path of Insanity: Make it a flat value upon reaching level 11. Cut SOTG Damage Reduction down by a third of current max total. Path of Hate: Cut Damage from 50% to 20% and increase duration to 30 minutes. Cut Increase Structure damage from 100% to 50% and increase duration to 30 minutes. Currently it barely works for 30 swings. If structure damage is some sort of issue, as I see it, then cut down wrath of magranon's damage scaling and definitely cut down trebuchet damage. They are both overpowered as it is on Epic. Path of Power: Elemental Immunity needs to be cut down 50%. Recall/Karma Town Portal/Teleport: This doesn't need to be removed. Simply add a one hour cooldown upon leaving enemy local which goes back up to an hour upon reentering enemy local. The issue is people running away. We don't need increase travel times or removal of legendary capturing. Increase log out time anywhere after or within enemy in local to 10 minutes(300 to 600 seconds). Remove merchant items. Deed Draining to disband: This should be entirely elevation/chaos only. Soft Caps: Body strength already works differently on Epic and is already quite balanced. The curve plays a large role in balance as well. Soft caps on anything are not wanted or needed by anyone currently playing Epic fulltime. The above meditation changes and removing champions will help avoid the need for this. High rates of stacking damage reduction is the balance issue and not high skills. You already allow people to transfer there skills from freedom where they have an unlimited supply of mobs to train from. Elevation map: A half size elevation map with mostly land mass and not a series of islands is what is primarily wanted. 100 days of no transferring of items or crossing server borders. A permanent map would be preferred. Atleast keeping it for around for up to 18 months before periodically giving us a new one. Champions: Champions might as well be removed from the game. It's a frustration to have freedomers come over and camp these spots for months anyway. If you see high rates of damage reduction stacking as an issue then this should be a priority before anything else is removed. Valrei Rule Changes: Make it so that any avatar must have atleast two items minimum in order to win. So a minimum of four items should always spawn. Currently it seems to be half of total items rounded up. Allow no items to spawn on home tiles or within a one tile radius around home tiles. Animal Husbandry Lifespans: Breeding times should be scaled 2-5 days. Be random and lean toward the lower side with higher animal husbandry. All animals that are bred should age at a 2X rate from birth to Aged. Normal rates upon reaching aged. Normal rates should continue for creatures that spawn. This should be considered as an Elevation(erhm..& Chaos) only change. [18:07:39] <xxxxx> its like they gave someone a notebook and said " write down everything you love " This was one response toward the initial post along with other similar reactions. That was said by a player, cause it seems like you want to remove it all instead of trying to add further balance to the server cluster that already has the most balance. A skill reset was mentioned in the live stream and I would advise heavily against it. It's already caused a ruckus within the community with most saying they will just give up on the game. We put in the work - we pay for the game - we play the game. The only people wanting this are those who have not played for years. At best you might have some of those players come back for a month or two but I promise you will absolutely destroy the long term player base who has been playing for years and years contributing to the game via their wallets. The people who suggest this are just lazy people who can't be bothered to put work into their own character. They are cowards and I say this sincerely. Please don't listen to them. It was rough enough to watch so many people quit after the transfer system was implemented. A fair and equal transfer/skill system with the removal of Chaos would have a far better impact on the longevity of Epic(along with the new smaller ele we have been waiting years for). We don't play Epic because of the newer skill system. We play here because it is our home.

    Is anyone actually in favour of keeping tome abilities/effects on new elevation? Could be a quick win, just disabling that whole feature.

    This is now the third time I've been excluded from this cast on Xanadu, not by shadowy players, but by friendly ones who, though aware of my desire to participate, do not wait or make any attempt at contact. So sour grapes (of which there are certainly some) aside, I'm a bit confused about what the point of this exercise has been. As I understood it, the plan was to wait for the favour pool to fill, and then agree a time and place so all willing attendees on the list had reasonable notice to make sure they could participate (a few hours is not reasonable, unless we're to give up sleep, quit our jobs, abandon our families, etc. etc. for Wurm). Instead, you've gone and cast the rite immediately and involved only those people who were available at the time; and for that much, I commend you. But there were no PMs, and no waiting. What real difference is there between this and any other group that has 'sniped' the rite in the past, i.e. cast it immediately for fear that someone else would cast it first? Not a whole lot from where I'm standing. Don't get me wrong, I still believe the major fault lies with the devs for contriving such an obviously flawed system that is anathema to fun and cooperation. But I am rather disappointed as I had thought this thread was an attempt to take the high road: plan and organize the rite in advance, and if someone snipes it ahead of time, then that's on them and at least we have some evidence to point to when asking the devs for changes. Instead, we're left with the same desperate grabbiness, the same inevitable acrimony that bubbles out in the aftermath, and no clear answer as to whether cooperation can win out over 'sniping'.

    If you are going to keep the other servers connected. i suggest maybe travel via server boarder be disabled for around 1-3 months? to stop everyone from having everything ready in knarrs etc to bring over and insta build deeds in 1 day. only have portal travel allowed through home server deeds enabled?

    They probably aren't fixing the game because the problem isn't in the game - it's in the Nvidia drivers. Perhaps you should go post some snarky passive-aggressive crap on the Nvidia forums, see if that solves your problem?
