-1, this whole conversation is silly. Is there such a thing as an alt-deed? How do we know if the OP is not the harasser in this case or if they are equally harassing eachother? If someone is paying monthly upkeep for space, just like the rest of us mayors do, they are entitled to KOS or participate in the highway as they see fit with any or every deed they choose to pay for. Get over yourselves, we are playing a game remember. There is so much space on all servers now there is no excuse to not find a better place to play if neighbors bother you so much.

I have 231 Epic finalizers and my journal goal for "complete 250 missions" is only at 9%. So something definitely is not tracked right. Assuming Epic helper doesn't count, then at least epic finalizer should.

Most of these bugs have been on the bug tracker for years, known to exist well before the valrei update, and known to exist during and after with plenty of updates via bug card, forums, and irc. Honestly, and this isn't a new feeling and it's felt by many as you could see if you look at pretty much any mention of valrei since the update, the "overhaul" only made things more convoluted and worse. God stats aren't fair, people don't even know what they do or why every god needs a ton of stats, and this has been on the forums so its not a quiet whine. Some missions are objectively worse, especially readding sacrifice missions that literally no one enjoyed nor wanted back especially not worse than it used to be before it was removed. I don't really get how a quick tweak to a few things and making things more complicated really constitutes giving epic real attention, and that's probably apparent by the fact people that still play epic need to use alts in order to get all 9 possible rewards from winning a scenario. Do you really believe the wu skill system that people protested against combined with transfers to freedom once and freedom to epic all the time was a fix for epic? Is encouraging people to leave epic and only come back or try it out if they want to mess around without risking their freedom skills a good thing for epic? The priest overhaul is joint pve and pvp. The tower chaining system is hardly a huge overhaul or much of an overhaul at all, and if anything is just reverting to an older pre-existing system with some slight differences. The new hota I'll give as something kind of new, but the fact is, if we give some big leeway and consider all 3 things to be heavy pvp oriented overhauls and content updates, can we consider 3 notable updates after years to be a lot of attention? Is it complicated to understand that you can't just give pvp one thing and then ignore it until the next thing a year later or whenever? It is not self sustaining and it needs more focus than "yeah well we gave you guys this or that update each year why isn't that good enough?" What makes it worse is when you realize this focus is really all a reality because of the same single volunteer dev that actually took action, but then he quit. If when you think of glaringly obvious issues that epic has and the one and only thing that comes to mind to mention is the map, then I don't think anyone with the power to change anything or direct anything to be changed is actually listening to the players.

This is a great example of the griefing type of personality that would use KoS on the Freedom PvE servers. Nice to see your lack of self restraint has proven my case, that being KoS on the Freedom servers should be removed. Thanks for the laugh too, heh. =Ayes=

I do understand, but if someone is going out of their way to give you a negative experience, please let us know. This is a sandbox and there is a lot of freedom in that, but we do not tolerate those aiming to negatively impact others experience lightly

As person can't really do anything on deed even without being KoS'd, I find the idea of KoS on freedom weird.

Are you saying that this stance towards epic hasn't changed much in the past few years (or is it longer)? The only "attention" epic gained was a different skilling system and allowing people to partially leave the cluster, neither of which is a plan for epic and if anything, just made the situation worse. How long before epic is a priority? Will epic ever be the top of any priorities, or pvp as a whole for that matter? All I see is the same book with a different cover, excuses and generic pr comments to stall more and more time. All we ask for is something tangible and to stop ignoring the elephant in the room and covering it up

    # What happened I've been terraforming and dropping the dirt gave me a pile over 100 and I could keep adding to it.# What you expected to happen To start a new pile after it hit 100.# Steps to reproduce Make a stack of 100 dirt, stand on the same tile and drop more dirt 'to pile' and it will drop on the same pile. A few conditions I think are required, 1. The dirt you are dropping to pile has to be few enough that it wouldn't create it's own pile, but would drop as a few individual dirt (this tended to work with stacks of 2-3 dirt dropping to pile). 2. You need to stand towards another tile border, but not so close that all of the dirt drops onto the other tile 3. If it says there's too many items, move a little closer to the other tile and try again.

Two containers, one that only allows the owner of the container to take from it but still allows anyone to deposit and another that lets the container owner add to it but only allows the player whose name matches the items 'rename' option take from it.
  12. 1 point
that, on a mission where you need to sacc 200 items and you do it all, you will have 200 "helpers" (agreed, the 200 helpers is silly regarding to the new tracker) and one "finalizer"... if at least the "finalizer" would be taken into account that would be great (AND logical)

Bump. Work on the walkway continues from the south side. Some of it has now been reinforced. As for veins, another has been slain today, thanks again to@Tilda! We also have@Jospicycamped out in the canal with his larder full of who knows what, chipping away at a copper vein for the past few days: EDIT: Just received word from Jospicy that the poor copper vein pictured above has now passed away. RIP. Thanks again to everyone who has taken time to come work in the canal!

I never really understood how its a problem to be kos especially since its against the rules on highways. I guess I cant fathom a pressing need to be right in someones pocket nor the issue with killing the guard and moving on with your day if you absolutely must pass through.

Ok, so it seems the dye System hasn't changed at all and is still heavily a random System. So what about improving the dye system. Let us grind dye related items (iron ore, woad …) with the mortar and pestle to get color pigments. So we do not get dye immediately, instead we get dye pigments. Pigment quality no longer affects the color code, it will instead affect chances to crate a liquid color. An specific amount of pigments can be combined with an specific amount of color. To crate that specifics colors pure liquid. lets say 0,10 red pigment goes into 1kg water. and this will generate 1kg of pure red (red Code: 255). Natural substances as a skill could now affect the yield successfully create. Either during creating the liquid or the pigments. But not influencing the shade of the resulting color anymore. Then get us another crafting station called color mixing station. Similar to the alchemy table. it can hold 6 containers of liquid. One container to be filled with each pure color ( red, blue, green, white, black) and a result container Now in this container we can have a menu saying: create color. from here on, the player can select, similar tot he measuring jug, how much of each color is supposed to go into the target container. This way the player will have full control which colors mix to which degree. So when a player now mixes specific colors they will always look the same if he uses the same amounts. And black color could substract as a multiplier form the RBG code of the target containers color, while White should multiply. it should that way be possible to create dark tones and lighter tones from all colors available and their mixed tones. While this new system would not be skill related anymore to define colors available, skill would influence how easy you get bigger amounts of the pure colors to work and mix with. With such a system you could also scrap the new clothing ideas of making own specific colored cloth, because people can reliably dye cloth.
  16. 1 point
you can improve the rgb of dye by improving it with the base ingredient, such as cochineal for red, and lower by combining it with other dyes. you can already reliably dye cloth not really sure what you're talking about there, doesn't even take 1kg to dye a whole set. the specific colored cloth sets were added before dying armor was a thing, it's not like it's a system that's got new content coming or anything. there's not really skill caps to make certain colors, you just get more vibrant colors easier with better skill.

Why cant you accept the fact this person doesn't want you on or near their deeds? With 11+ deeds he is a significant supporter of wurm and should be commended for it. I firmly believe there is more to this story and the OP is not the victim. KOS is fine as is. Come to think of it, I might just KOS you too on all of my deeds based on this thread, mind telling me the names of all of your characters and which server or should I KOS you on all servers?
  18. 1 point
KOS on freedom is to keep those that bother you off your deed and perimeter, dont get it twisted while you ride your hollow high horse again.
  19. 1 point
In my opinion: First we need to clearly state the intention, then how we can inforce/regulate it. In most of these cases it's pretty clear that it's an alt character with an alt deed that is used to KoS. My suggestion is that the rules should clearly state that a player that uses the highway system on a particular server may not use alt deeds on that same server to circumvent the intention of the rule. I believe that rule alone will prevent most of these cases.
  20. 1 point
Your idea is basically .. this but "not"? It's shifting player's control to do whatever on one server to any server linking to 1 random place on indy that should be the center of the wurmiverse?
  21. 1 point
KoS can be a serious harrassment. Even with an acceptable intermediate FS like mine (over 75, aggr over 50) 5 tower guards and a templar are at least something to be dealt with. If it is on a major non highway communication route, it makes driving e.g. a wagon at least fairly inconvenient. And I deeply dislike killing tower guards. There is no fun in, just molestation. You don't even gain fighting skill with. So it means you have to think before declaring KoS on somebody. When someone "talked rudely" you have the option to report it, when against the rules, or make it public when it is only contemptible. In other words, you run a risk when declaring KoS, especially against someone who cannot KoS back e.g. without losing highway rights. That is the sense of the proposal. Maybe one could limit KoS altogether to cases in which both parties declare KoS onto one another, so that single sided KoS were not possible at all. And now? Some freetoplay alt you never talked to, rudely or not, unchecks the KoS box and type your name, and you cannot do anything about.

@JDBookerI've been trying to find out who actually started the original project for some time, so thank you for clearing that up! Please know that your original work on the canal has not gone to waste. A lot of people have been helping out to ensure it is restored and actually stays open permanently this time around. I only have good words to say about you. The last time I was starting a push to restore the canal back in 2016, you were nothing but helpful the entire time, so thank you. You are more than welcome to help with the canal whenever you feel like it. The canal is fully sailable for shallow boats and work has started on a 2-wide walkway, but there is so much left to do.

i don't recall putting any deactivate options on them. Deleting it won't remove it from the db, it's not very automated, like how you have to edit db for prices. if you wanted, you could tag item and summon it in a secure GM place and drop a new not activated item renamed 'closed' or something along those lines I guess. Then just put original item back to reopen trade when you want to.

KoS does literally nothing. Any account with decent fighting would not be harmed much by guards on deeds KoS'ing them. Nothing can be done if KoS is done purely for fun. If anything would be changed, and KoS'd persons would be able to do something to the deeds where they are KoS'd, that would bring in a problem of thieving. Suppose this: - You KoS account named nekoexthievina - Said account has been talking to you rudely and you have the grounds to dislike them - They come, kill your guards, drain your token and steal your rare forge - Aparantely, they don't give a f about you so they don't declare you to be KoS on their deed - Effectively, if you'd never care about said person being rude, things would've been better of for you. Bingo, your stuff was stolen and - the worst part - you can't do *anything at all* for retribution.
  25. 1 point
Well, I consider KoS a basically nice concept inside a medieval setting, where mayors of a settlement are kind of kings of their area, and rivaling fiefs may have their quarrels and tiny wars. A KoS, if declared mutually, would be kind of a duel between deeds, or small size warfare. Properly done it could contain roleplay, drama, and entertainment for the whole community. But that implies that KoS is more than throwing in some dirty money from a purchased account's player who does not participate in any community activity, planting a deed or more by a shitty freetoplay alt, and check the KoS box to troll a player who cannot or is unwilling to respond in kind. Therefore the proposed limitations: 1. No KoS from non premed mayors 2. KoS should come with a price in form of a risk .

Samool and Saroman are doing a fantastic job holding the team weight here but sadly its not either of them (client or art devs) that will save epic/pvp, this needs a server dev that isnt doing an overhaul of the UI for the past 4 years or weird valrei changes without base stabilisation. tl;dr Telling the starved and anemic pvpers that skin textures are about to become amazing sadly isnt going to spark any hope
  27. 1 point
Well, every investment pays back later. If you guys invested in new developers 1-2 years ago, now they would be fully functional, helping whole team. So delaying anything, couse here and now it isnt profitable, is a mistake. If You cannot start Epic overhaul now, couse of other projects (let's be honest, there are always gonna be other projects), then maybe just start from smaller fixes, like repairing broken Valrei system, patching some bugs. Believe it or not, but for most people that still play here, Valrei is some sort of end-game. And it is extremely frustrating, when you put a lot of effort into it, and all goes to waste couse of bugs. I'am always curious, what's @Rolfpoint of view about Epic currently. I remember that someone mentioned that Rolf talks with a dev team on a daily basis. Maybe he could put any statement on this and soothe our minds? Or he is like a "god" from a Supernatural series, that only watches and almost never interfere, no matter how shitty situation is?

Thank-you for sharing this post. Road maps are what is needed here with the appropriate expectation setting that goes along with them. Sometimes people forget that a road map can be seen as very similar to a weather forecast. Today and Tomorrow's weather are almost certain however sometimes things happen. Next week's weather is way less certain and of course a forecast of what next winter looks like is likely to miss to have some real changes before it arrives. Agile road maps are like this too. Immediate iteration is almost certain, a month out less so, a quarter out even less certain and a year away is more about overall strategic goals then it is tactical reality. Agile is also about smaller and more frequent releases rather then long delays between releases. This allows the development team to change direction in a hurry when there is a real need to do so. Communication is around explaining how this works, clearly setting expectations around each timing block and then being very transparent and upfront about what is being done, challenges faced etc. It's also about guiding the discussion so that people can provide feedback, dev team can provide response and overall everyone feels like they've been heard etc. Don't get me wrong, this can be challenging to get started, usually because of lost trust on both sides. In the early days it can also be easily derailed if there isn't a real commitment to seeing it through. With time however you create raving fans, people who start singing the dev teams blessings because they see results rather then excuses. BTW: This isn't theoretical for me. It's what I do for a living. I usually am hired to take over a failed or failing project. Sometimes law suits are underway and in all cases the two parties no longer trust each other. In that world the only thing you can really do is show through actions that you mean what you say. It is a tricky walk for awhile however when it works it is a fantastic experience for everyone. For the people on Epic, WO needs to show that they have a future, that they've been heard and that there is a plan being executed with a listing of what's been achieved so far in the past (insert timeline) and what's planned for the future (again with clear expectation setting on weather forecast idea shown above). ~Nappy

Agreed. Let's see, what would be reasonable? We only started asking for a plan about two years ago. I think there was another group asking a year or two before that. Perhaps if we give them another five years they might feel inclined to share?

Wow! Congratulations to everyone helping on this project! I had no idea it was being resurrected! I remember helping JD just a tiny bit with the mining northwards from Oasis back when I was a newbie - it was my introduction into tunnel mining, water in caves, and where I got my 'wet feet' award if I recall correctly. When BTRod left for Xanadu - he left me his horses, and made his 'escape' to Xan in a boat, out through that same tunnel from the Oasis access, an emotional memory for me.
  34. 1 point
Some more background to the Canal. The original mining started from my Oasis deed around October/November/December 2013, i forget exactly. I originally mined north to link up with Dragons Keep. along the perimeter between Ghoulio's deed to the west (i forget the name of his deed) and Huntsman's Lodge to the east. Directly south of Oasis was my friend BTRod's deed called Bitburg, or something similar, again, memory fails me. While I mined north of Dragons Keep, he mined a little way south to help the project. When he left for the new world of Xanadu in June 2014, i completed the south direction. It was not long after the breakthrough of a single width canal from Dragons Keep to Blossom that the end was sealed and the project was put on hold. This was probably around August 2014. As i had done about 99% of the mining alone (ok, with an alt army helping) I got quite annoyed with the person blocking my work, so i threw my toy pickaxe out the pram, and never swung another blow in the canal since. But now there seems to be a decent number of people helping, i have no problem with working on it again.
  35. 1 point
@syncaidius Yes indeed the canal was my idea and about 4 or 5 years ago i spent a lot of time and silvers getting it passable right through. I gave up on it however when someone who shall remain nameless deliberately sealed up the Blossom end. A few months ago i split my Dragons Keep deed into two deeds so that the canal under the road was off deed. Oasis is still across the canal, and i have no problem giving anybody mining access through it. just send me a list of names. I hardly ever check the forums any more. and have just been informed of the renovation project. Should you need me to help, or give access, the best way to contact me is through Discord. I could see this coming handy if I were to build an inn. Let people use some chests in their rooms that other guests can't steal from, but if they leave stuff behind I can take it out to make room in the chest and try to contact the owner. Or at self-serve animal shops, customer can put the lock and key back in the deposit box. If they made a copy, the seller should already get a message saying they don't have all the keys to that lock when they attach it. Might be useful at impalongs too? Sadly haven't been able to go to one ever so idk. Why not? +1 I'm not sure about the name though, I think "safety chest" or similar would be better suited; "deposit box" implies that you can't get that stuff back (not through the deposit box anyway). Somebody with more vocabulary than me could probably come up with a better term.

How long before it's acknowledged to be a serious issue though, looking at the prem graphs we are at a steeper decline than before the prem jumps for holiday season and free prems, following this new trend from the new year, unless it finally plateaus we are only a few months from dipping under 2000 premium accounts when the holiday/new years peak was 2652 It's not good news and it would be nice to hear what the plan for it is, aside from generic pr comments picked from the hat filled with generic pr comments that every company's pr team uses. You can get Epic Helper without the mission being completed, in fact, you can get that achievement multiple times on the same mission iirc. That would be my assumption as to why you are still showing low on your journal, I too have helped complete far more than it reflects, but all in due time.

The harassment certainly reached the level of needing to place in a support ticket the moment the player created an alternate account so they could bypass the /ignore function placed on their first account by you. I would highly recommend doing /support ingame and explaining the situation to the CM and/or GM that takes the call.

Stop updating Wurm Online and Unlimited, put all resources into remaking the game from scratch. Designed using modern understanding and keeping it bare bones (no theme park). When your product is inferior the only way to get people to buy it again is by getting a new product through re-branding the same inferior product or via a new product that's superior to its predecessor. Wurm is not a widely known game but it's known enough to have had it's reputation damaged as everyone I've spoken to that has heard of it says the same thing, it's dated and takes no skill. Long gone are the days where game play was king, now days it's all about bling and hype regardless of game play and we live in a generation where gamer's want instant gratification, straight to the fun bits, there is no journey. Thanks to streaming if your game isn't fun to watch someone else being successful/terrible at it then it's not a popular game and if games aren't popular they are uncool and have a stigma associated with them. We Wurmians are a niche, by putting Wurm into the cross hairs of reviewers and streamers to take a dump on will only damage the game further. One way to bypass this is to present them with a new game, one they can't dismiss as being dated because it'll be brand new, unknown and exciting which will create hype and with lots of hype, even shite games will succeed for a time so a remade, polished Wurm will be good for another 16 years no problem. Remaking would solve a lot of the problem encountered from old code where we hear the devs say '"Can't do that because of the way it's coded" and similar statements to that effect. Through no fault of Rolf, he did his best and he did great but as far as Wurm evolution goes there has to be a point where a restart is the better choice, not dissimilar to our map resets. Once we get past a certain point it becomes more hassle to try and fix the damage done to the map then it would be to remake it, it's the same for the code base. We take what has been learned and apply it to a new version. So in my opinion the only way to save Wurm is to let it die and be reborn from the ashes.
  44. 1 point
-1 rather than another epic reset which will get people playing epic for a few months then stop again, I would prefer a new map be built into a reworking of epic\chaos\pvp servers overhall., There needs to be only one place to pvp, be it chaos or epic, there arnt enough players to support two pvp environments.

I'm *really* late on this, but here's some pictures from around day 2 on Pristine that I thought folks might enjoy: https://photos.app.goo.gl/KFLuZfU1itUz4dQp6 My deed (Stonehaven) was also founded on day 2 - took us a full day of wandering to find the perfect spot. Deed still exists, though I've mostly swapped to WU these days. Pictures are mostly of the area around Stonehaven / Bargrum's Folly (which was deeded twice, but we never got around to 'finishing' it either time, and eventually disbanded); I'm sure I have more screenshots, but I didn't feel like digging through years of screenshots tonight. An early map I saved:
  47. 1 point
Actually, that area was deeded by Pakawala, and after that by Sharkin (and by many others) long before you put that sign there. For some reasons, Sharkin's deed fell, but now he returned to the game; your "public mine" occured while the deed was down, and yes, anyone can go anywhere on an undeeded area and deed over it. Maybe for same reasons you built a fence along the water and closed land access to that "public area'' with a "public mine" for everyone trying to get to south? Pristine is a nice, friendly server, with the greatest community in game; I believe is better to try and contact your neighbours and discuss your issues with them before rushing to forums to shame them, no matter the reasons.
