We need mushroom farms. because it would be cool. I would like 2 kidns that both woudl fit the wurm universe. Log Mushroom farms https://www.alamy.com/stock-photo-a-mushroom-farm-in-kyoto-prefecture-japan-138664071.html They could be made similar to charcoal piles, isntead of being burned, make them be "injected" by using a mushroom. then the pile slowly decays and slowly produces mushroom exactly like charcoal works. Wood type could affect the kind of mushroom that grows. Ql of the mushroom works like charcoal quality. Undegrround mushroom farming requires planks and dirt to create . "fuels" by wood scrap (or maybe none at all). but works similar to potted planzs. You can regular "pick" some mushroom off it. Produces much slower than the log mushroom farm and does not amass as much mushroom as the log mushroom farm (so it requires regular checking - picking- in comparison to the log mushroom farm). QL of the mushroom gained works like the potted plants ql.

How long before it's acknowledged to be a serious issue though, looking at the prem graphs we are at a steeper decline than before the prem jumps for holiday season and free prems, following this new trend from the new year, unless it finally plateaus we are only a few months from dipping under 2000 premium accounts when the holiday/new years peak was 2652 It's not good news and it would be nice to hear what the plan for it is, aside from generic pr comments picked from the hat filled with generic pr comments that every company's pr team uses. The island created with my recent usage of a Wand of the Seas is drastically limited in rock layer compared to other Wand created islands. After doing a comparison of my island to others created with Wands of the Seas, mine spawned a rock layer roughly 20% the height. Of the six Wand spawned islands I was able to locate and observe, the rock layers varied from approximately 150 dirt to almost 250 dirt in height above the water level. With no correlation to the depth of the water they were used in. The rock layer of my island is barely 30 dirt above water level on average. Not only does this severely limit the depth to which I can create mines, but the overall number of tiles above water level is less than half of those spawned by other wands. The dirt layer spawned is comparable to other wand islands. Both in height above rock and in radius from the Wand usage location. So only the rock layer spawned is outside of specs. This is a high value, single use item that has failed to produce proper results on usage. When I first used the Wand of the Seas I was extremely disappointed in the lack of rock layer I received, but I did not question whether or not it was appropriate. However, upon seeing other Wand Islands it became clear that the island I received is drastically outside of the standard range this item is supposed to produce. If I had just received a low end rock layer within the standard variation associated with this item (which is approximately ~150 dirt above water level) I would not need a bug report. However, I received a rock layer that is about 1/5 the size of the smallest observed rock height and about 1/7 the size of the average rock height.

@syncaidius Yes indeed the canal was my idea and about 4 or 5 years ago i spent a lot of time and silvers getting it passable right through. I gave up on it however when someone who shall remain nameless deliberately sealed up the Blossom end. A few months ago i split my Dragons Keep deed into two deeds so that the canal under the road was off deed. Oasis is still across the canal, and i have no problem giving anybody mining access through it. just send me a list of names. I hardly ever check the forums any more. and have just been informed of the renovation project. Should you need me to help, or give access, the best way to contact me is through Discord. Cash shop always has my mind going crazy about to potential stuff that could be added AND actually create easy money for wurm development: * Different poses for the colossi (buying a shaper-wand, lets you change the pose of a colossus 5 times) * Different NPC's to plant on your deed that say random stuff every now and then, maybe walk around the deed, do a fishing animation near water, training against a trainingdummy, etc (makes things more lively) * A huge variety of clothes, just cosmetic (the amount only limited by how hard you can whip the graphics-team) * Everlasting varity of non-chopable trees, reskins ofcourse to set them appart from their normal variants (I really want a massive beautifull oak at the centre of my deed) * Shield patterns * Different designs for weapons * .... Lots of us are old folks, having a job and usually some money to spare. A cash shop has the potential to really bring in the money, I know I would spend allot if the option I mentioned above came into the cashshop. That aside, I've never really been bothered by roadmaps. Wurm has enough to keep me busy (playing since 2009, 550 days of playtime), that I dont really feel the need to know whats coming. I rather like the suprise to suddenly see that a new cooking sysytem is coming, new fishing system, chicken coops, animal cages, teleport spells, archeology, etc... I'm happy with the info that dev's are working on big new features, thats more then enough for me, knowing that the future is safe for a while longer and new features/skills are on the horizon. Tho I can imagen it being more frustrating for pvp'ers, being left in the dark about the future of pvp. But as a freedommer, having so many plans that I still havent gotten the time to make a bridge of my own or test out the new fishing system, I dont see much harm in dev's keeping stuff hidden untill its good enough to be revealed/mentioned in a Valrei International

I have been living in a underground town for 2-3 years now,I have not seen any tile collapse on its own..also to what is lacking is none of your points imo.. it is lacking better lighting(i have mine filled with lamps but it does not do the trick still), a way to keep live stock inside and the ability to reinforce ceiling too,for better looks, those are my only complains and what has made me looking for a outside place to move.

I disagree. I believe there's a plan that would help Epic immensely and make it one of the best places to play. All it would take is to explain that plan and then commit to making it happen. It wouldn't come anytime soon, and would draw quite a few questions, but I truly believe that plan is one of the best ways forwards for Epic. At the very least, you'd see more players there. That's for sure.

The harassment certainly reached the level of needing to place in a support ticket the moment the player created an alternate account so they could bypass the /ignore function placed on their first account by you. I would highly recommend doing /support ingame and explaining the situation to the CM and/or GM that takes the call.

Not half a year. I think closer to two years. However sometimes a lack of concrete answers can indeed lead to concrete actions. Actions like refusing to resub characters and letting deeds disband. For all the discussion here that is often around what can the players do to improve player retention, the reality is that the biggest ownership of this topic rests with the people who control the game, the administration of it and the support of it. If people in a "Community Relations" role are unable or not permitted to give clear answers that keep the community focused in a positive direction then eventually the players take things into their own hands. The more vocal ones speak out (and are often ignored (which in itself is a failure of the community relations role)). The quieter ones, or those who give up, just leave. ~Nappy

Hello again everyone! I'm here to Officially announce the Second Annual 2019 Summer Friend-A-Long, Brought to you by Dragon Beard Markets, Academy Network Alliance of Pristine, and random donaters like you out there! This years Event will be held July 22-27/28th. Hopefully this window will allow most folks the chance to attend and join in and the foolery of it all. Some of you may be asking what is an Imp-along? Well basically is a community event where everyone gets together to imp and cast for other folks for free! Anyone can come, anyone can help imp. The only real restrictions is on channeling skill. We have already built a dedicated deed for the event, collected a massive amount of materials, cotton, body bags, booze and cake (maybe cake) for the event! . There will be some minor changes made to the setup based on feedback received, and a few things added. I destroyed a mountain so you could all put your tents closer this year... cause you will need them. I always say if you didn't die at the imp-along you did it wrong, so don't fail me now. Please keep and eye on this thread as i will be updating it regularly with details of events, changes, whatever.... Updates: The event is now over, any items leftover in containers will be sent home with 24 hours to the name on them All room settings will be cleared at the end of the month. When: July 22nd- 27th 2019 Where: Pristine, T16, Friendship Bay deed. Map: https://prnt.sc/jdif1w - In game Map location. Map: https://prnt.sc/jdifka - Map from latest dumps. You can also plot to Friendship Bay from the highway network nearly anywhere on pristine. What to bring: Anything you want Imped, Casted, bloods mixed, your imbues applied, Mendings, etc, if it can be improved we can prob handle it here. What is expected of you as a patron: Be polite and be respectful Don't forget to put your characters NAME ON ALL YOUR ITEMS! Cant stress this enough. Anything not properly named is likely to be lost or stuffed in an overflow bin, and once moved with no name, there is basically no way to identify it as yours. Please try and remove your items promptly once imped/casted to avoid having your items secured in overflow. You do NOT need to label them with what cast/imp you want, just your name. Just make sure you place them in the correct container. Do NOT abuse people's generosity! Don't bring 10 or even 5 of the same item for imping/casting. The only real exception to this might be horse shoes. Anyone caught taking advantage will forfeit there items and be asked to leave. And the veteran impers do know what to look for, i removed almost 100 items last year due to abuse, and it was veterans who tipped me off. Do NOT sell items that were done for you at the impalong. Its about helping people out, not taking advantage of someone else's work to put coin in your pocket. Getting items casted is at your own risk! Thoe the priest will be required to have at least 70 channeling and demonstrate so with there 70+ title. Shatters can and will happen at an event like this. Item quality plays a big in this so if your going to get something casted, consider imping it first. If an item is shattered, and its reproducible on site, feel free to ask someone with skill to re craft it for you. You should not need to pick any items up that are not your (nor will you be able to inside a building) If your items are moved to overflow please contact a "Wurm Lord" Items are only returned to the character named on it! Also feel free to help imp items even if you don't have that skill to 70. The only real restriction is channeling. Everyone is welcome to help out! Consider this an opportunity to grind your skills and no expense to you other then time. Mats and favor are provided so go crazy imp or cast all the things! When you complete and imp or cast please call it out in local to the owner something like "/me VirusMD your pickaxe imp is done!" This should help keep things flowing particularly for items waiting to receive multiple casts. Imping Materials: All materials provided will be stocked in the resource carts next to each station, the general public will not have access to the bulk of materials, please try to NOT COMBINE tiny lumps like silver, gold, electrum, and the like for imping larger items like weapons and shields. Material usage will be alot higher, and we will get alot less imps out of the total stock of that material, less used is more for everyone! if you need a refill on something please ask in local or a "Wurm Lord" for refill. Getting YOUR items imped: As mentioned before be sure ALL your items are correctly named with your character. Find the station relavent to the skill required for your equipment. for example Hammers in Blacksmithing, Swords in Weapon smithing etc. Most are pretty obvious. Some of the most commonly misplaced items are: Carving Knife, Sickle, and Scythe witch are actually Weapon smithing. (Cooking) Knife and Leather Knife are actually Blacksmithing. New fishing rods are Fine carpentry, and the legacy rods are Carpentry Fishing Reels are Jewelry Smithing, with the exception of the deep water reel witch is Blacksmithing What is expected as an Imper or Caster at the Friend-A-Long: All of the above + Please name your lumps/materials if you have to put them back in the forge etc 70+ in your imping skills of choice is recommended but feel free to chip in with whatever skills you have for imping. -OR- 70+ Channeling skill is required to be permitted to cast on other people's items. You should be sure to wear your 70+ channeling title Sermons: Sermons are volunteer led, if you wish to participate in the sermon group please ask for a sermon team invite in local, and get further information for slotting inside that channel. What we still need: Still taking last minute room reservations, and please do sign up for the events your interested in below, there is still work to be done once i know who is participating when etc. But mainly its down to prizes prizes prizes! Anything you think might make a decent reward. Ships, rares, Kingdom Flags, Hota's Arch statues, etc.... anything you think might be a good prize. Donations are recorded and accredited here on the thread and announced when given away in case you want to make a donation for a service thread etc. If you can attend are want to work some skills specifically please post, and let me know what your willing to do, so we can get a general idea what we have covered. Friendship Inn and Lounge: Need a place to sleep off a hard days work? Hide from a GM (good luck), or just get out of the way? The Friendship inn and Lounge, has a pleasant little relaxation area on the room with a wide variety of booze for you discerning wurmian hooligans. The inn is capable of bedding 80 characters in 70 secure rooms with storage options. If you need a secure room for your stay please make a post requesting a room, be sure to include your character(s) names in the post. There is also a large piece of land set aside for "Tent City" Just outside the inn on the sandy beach area next to the docking (parking) slips on the East end of the event location. Room Numbers and Assignment: *PLEASE CHECK ROSTER FOR ROOM ASSIGNMENTS, SOME CHANGES WERE MADE* The Deed: The imping hall itself it a 5 floor pottery building with slate/marble decor. with 3 floors dedicated to various tasks. The First floor is the Smithing area, with 24x forges nestled together in a large group in the center, in the corners you will find some relaxing area's to afk/get out of the way in along with stairwells to the other floors. The second floor is for Non smithing related imps, broken into 4 main area's depending on the skill used. The 3rd floor is the Casting/sermon floor. I've broken all the spells into 4 main groups, based on the spell/priests that cast it. each group has at least 2-4 dedicated altars PER priest for that category, the more common priest like vyn/nahjo have at least 15 altars each on that floor, so no worries about tripping over each other at the altar! All organized into corners, In the center of it all is another ring of altars, surrounding a rare altar for the sermon goers, and the building is designed in such a way, that everyone below you should be counted as listeners for HUGE faith ticks! At this time we have about 3 Million Favor worth of veggies ready to go! Want to help chop? no? good we don't need you, because@ChampagneDragonis amazing and did ALL the prep work for the veggies for us! Apparently he likes doing this, so yah, amazing! He also does it for your precious silvers, so if you need stuff chopped look no further. Ship Imps: The WEST end of the deed is where docks are located for people who would like there ships imped as well. Please do not park here if your ship is over 70q, and Please move your ship once it has been imped help keep congestion down in the area for the impers. Ship Parking: The EAST end of the deed houses several new docking teirs that will house many ships, if your ship does not need to be impled please be sure to park on the EAST side of the deed, where "Tent City" is located just East of the Friendship Inn and Lounge. Blood Mixing: We have a large supply of source salt for potion making, so feel free to bring your bloods for mixing. Hopefully well get a couple high skill volunteers who can do them for us! Got a nice NS? drop me a line here or PM me if your willing to help out. As things stand now, there's little reason to pursue beverages, whether as a producer or consumer. It's far easier to level hot food cooking and far quicker to make high-quality affinity food which will give far more total affinity time than, say, a barrel full of beer. My suggestion is simple: separate temporary food affinities from temporary beverage affinities (meaning, for example, you can get a 10% buff to mining skill-gain from your custom affinity pizza and another 10% buff if you find a beverage that gives the same affinity, for a total of 20%). This will take beverages out of competition with pizzas, etc. – where they are hopelessly outmatched – and create a gameplay reason to make the extra effort that brewing, distilling, and so on requires.

Does the email restriction of 5 characters per email address truly solve anything? Seems to be more of an annoyance for people with multiple characters/Alts. Most people will just use a different email. Would be nice to have all characters on one email. Thanks.

This is more of a suggestion than a question/complaint... Currently the majority of servers seem to use 4x action speed. This has an unfortunate side effect of many action sounds, such as sawing, paving, and improving, not playing at all because the actions don't last long enough. I guess the game client has a threshold in which "the sound starts after X seconds into the action", but is never reached. The result of this is that I can saw 100 logs into planks literally in silence. -- Wurm has some nice action sounds, and I like hearing them while working on things. It would be splendid if the action sound threshold could take into account the action timer, even if this means exposing the action time multiplier to clients, so that if the setting is on 4.0 (4x) then the sound threshold should be divided by 4. (Not an exploit risk, most servers advertise this in their name.) This would be formulated as simply as `AST x (1 / ATM)`, AST being the action sound threshold, and ATM being the action time multiplier.

A lot seems to be undergoing currently.. either changes are happening a bit slow or community craves new content/change/fixes a bit faster than they are possible to happen, in the past few months we had some fast content changes and that might have given the idea that everything turns from words to actions in matter of weeks not months as it was for a while before that. Can we just chill for another month-2 and see how dev stream content goes.. and what could be learned from that new media? Calm your keyboards a bit.

I like idea, but it still has one major problem. Mushrooms are useless currently. They aren't used for any potions, can't be used as substitue for meat in meals, really no viable reason to collect them in the wild even let alone grow them beside pure role playing which is quite unfortunate

Yes there is a very little chance but tiles can collapse in fully reinforced mines. In my understanding it may happen only to a tile which is adjacent to a wall and will not happen to a tile with a structure on it.

I could see this coming handy if I were to build an inn. Let people use some chests in their rooms that other guests can't steal from, but if they leave stuff behind I can take it out to make room in the chest and try to contact the owner. Or at self-serve animal shops, customer can put the lock and key back in the deposit box. If they made a copy, the seller should already get a message saying they don't have all the keys to that lock when they attach it. Might be useful at impalongs too? Sadly haven't been able to go to one ever so idk. Why not? +1 I'm not sure about the name though, I think "safety chest" or similar would be better suited; "deposit box" implies that you can't get that stuff back (not through the deposit box anyway). Somebody with more vocabulary than me could probably come up with a better term.

Only structures underground have 0 chance of collapsing, even fully reinforced caves can collapse, though it's super rare. A couple of 1 wide tunnels in the past that i know for a fact were fully reinforced have collapsed and blocked themselves off, and when mined out the walls were already reinforced

Exactly what I've been thinking. The journal system is so good, but some of the goals are real let downs. I'm fine with the journal being a way to display skills or features to an extent. But really, nobody was happy to see the 25kg fish goal, and then adding the 75kg fish goal just seems like an effort to take the piss.
  34. 1 point
I think what happened here was that after you gave permissions to alliance, you also checked the box "settlement may manage". Only the building owner can do that., and once you do, all control of the building is transferred to the deed mayor (of the deed you belong to), and those which have "manage allowed objects" on deed. You, the owner, remain with "naked ownership", if you're not the mayor or deed officials. This has been used, sometimes (I think rarely though), by mayors, when they ask their new villagers to set "settlement may manage" (so that the mayor can easily decide things on the building if the player abandons game), then the mayor sets permissions for the building owner to access the building. For all buildings with "settlement may manage" set, only the mayor can normally clear it. The owner just have up all their rights. In other words, only the owner can set it, only the mayor can unset it. This behavior is documented here: For buildings, "settlement may manage" works the same as for gates. I think it feels counter intuitive though, to leave the owner with zero access. A solution could be: when permissions are reset due to flag setting, the server should set specific manage/enter/etc for the building owner. Like for branding, when a group is added from the start, add the building owner by name. At least, it would make sense to the owner to still have access for themselves.

I learnt on wurm unlimited for free the game .I built a house n stuff and one day the server vanished all my work gone .I said stuff this and came to wurm online .u pay your mthly game hire and u pick yourself a small piece of land the smaller the cheaper n u pay mthly for that and hire 1 guard as well .u can increase the size of ur deed anytime at the token on your deed . when u go wurmshop u buy ur mthly game rent and a couple of coins as well to put in your settlement pole ( bank)to pay your land tax and buy a goody in game if u want then your set. or join a village cheaper again

Looking at niarja, the average time for a rift is about 2 hours and 20 minutes, minimum is around an hour and a half (times that are good for US/UK timezones) and highest is 3 hours and 16 minutes (middle of night for us/uk) so the goal's difficulty varies greatly depending on what timezone you live in. When a rift is at 1am my time, due to the short time that the rifts take in that time due to US/UK both being active, it's going to be over a month, probably closer to two months before it's in a good time for me, and once it is, due to the rifts taking longer when it's a bad time for US/UK, it'll only be two, maybe three if lucky, rifts until it's back to the middle of the night for my timezone. you can say "oh you can just sail to other servers" but adding an hour return trip to an already 3 hour long rift isn't fun. You can work towards 99 skills, you can work towards 2500 trees, you can work towards 500k actions, you can work towards 20k mob kills, you can do all these things at your leisure but goals like rifts, wear drake/scale, slay x uniques, aren't things you can work towards, you can only hope they're in favorable times for you, or cheese the hell out of them, like borrowing drake/scale so you don't have to spend money, or get friends to log into your account and afk in local of uniques/rifts so the fact that you have to go to work/school and sleep don't prevent you from doing such a task. Part of the problem with personal goals was it made you do things you probably would never ever do in the game, such as repair 6250 fences, 5000L of wine etc, but these some of these newer goals go right back into the "play as we want you to play not how you want to" of the past
  39. 1 point
I'd wager he means that most goals have a trick to them like doing it on Epic or some method to make it easier, but 100 rifts means going to 100 rifts.

The "exec" command is available in Wurm Unlimited. I use it on a constant basis, switching between various bindings depending on what I am doing. The Wurmpedia page on Quickswitch hotkeys explains things in details and has some additional samples of how to set up your files. This is very similar to how I have mine set up.

As far as i remember, the game was always ran by volunteers. In fact, when i started playing it was even smaller than it is now, being developed mostly by Rolf alone. I remember whenever he would go on holidays (at least 2-3 times a year) there would be massive server issues that nobody was able to fix until he came back. The game went "gold" then got "released" with 1.0, then we have WU, yet the dev team has remained and remains pretty much 90% of volunteers. It boggles my mind really, and the excuse of "the developer assigned to X can't work on it because he has no time" has to stop. Start employing full timers, or at the very least, better volunteers that actually have time to work on stuff. If what the above person said is true, that you don't even reply to people who apply to your team, then it is even worse than i thought. Surely such a small company and a relatively unknown game that is Wurm doesn't get hundreds of applications a day or a week that you get so overwhelmed by them?

We're actually in the process of beginning a several month long cycle to ensure that when updates do come out, they aren't lackluster. Recent updates being lackluster is the very point of this, trickle fed information and content leads to it feeling a bit bland. We aim to resolve this by spending a little bit more time between updates and ensuring that when we do update, it's something that's a bit bigger. It's not maintenance mode by far, it's just that we're at the start of this new endeavour and have no code currently committed towards it. In order for us to be talking about what we're working on, we'd like code committed and a rough outline to be available. I can say that we are looking at expanding mid to end game content as well as polishing some existing areas. I'd love to say what it is right now, but until the devs are confident it's well on it's way to coming out, and I don't disagree. History has shown us that announcing projects too early creates far too much frustration, bridges took almost a year, and recently animal cages were a point of contention for them not coming out soon after their announcement. We aim to provide less pie in the sky ideas, and more concrete "this is coming, this is when, this is what to expect" via more in-depth news prior to launch and devstreams focused on showcasing the new content.

I did let out a *heh* to myself when I saw that thread closed. If it was not for discussion of the topic it should have never allowed comments within it in the first place. There is your mistake, which now leads to this thread of complaint about it. I would have been just as satisfied if it were a informative Dev Blog post with no comments allowed. More so actually since I wouldn't have then been exposed to the comments of all the nay-sayers and those who knew better ways of doing everything. =Ayes=

+1 for me especially on making more flavors of things. I got a lot of strawberries laying around. However, I think looking at how alcohol mechanics work is not a bad idea either.

+1 provided it includes all beverages, and not just alcoholic ones, please and thank you
