I'm sorry you feel that way. The scenario you described sounds terrible. But I was there and it did not go down exactly like that. People were trying to give you advise. Regarding dual sword, get the hard facts. Does it work? How effective is it? Knowing the facts, are you happy with how it works? Then do what you like. You asked for a horse, and I said I had no spares. I usually bring spares to Rifts, but was in a rush today. A few of us saw you run naked into the Rift mob and dying, for the nth time, and someone found your dead grey horse and body, told you about it. You could have asked for help locate and secure them, instead of going solo and dying multiple times. Many of us have suffered death at a Rift and know how it feels. Just got to ask, no biggie. I have Rifted with you a number of times. I have to say that it is not unusual for you to perish a few times in a Rift. Something about your current gameplay doesn't work so well, and might benefit from some adjustments. Having done more than 30 Rifts is ok, but if your performance and survivability can do with improvements, maybe take those advise under consideration. From one noob to another, we get told our mistakes, one way or another. Just roll with it and play on. See you at the next Rift!

@christopher I can't do much to change what happened to you, but I can help mend a bit of what was broken. I will gift you two horses along with cages to transport them if you got the means to come get them. Send me a PM and I will have two 5 speed horses (a breeding pair if I have it, need to check if I got a breeding pair) you can come get. I know is not much, but I hope it helps.

As a brand new player, who played for 7 hours the first day (yesterday), and plan to play 7 or 8 hours today. Read that being able to make cheap casseroles is the best way to stay healthy, at least initially. Most of my time since I hit Play has been about acquiring the stupid number of items required to catch fish. It should not require literally 7 odd hours to craft an effing fishing rod when your a brand new player. I think I should have crafted a butchering knife and looked around for pigs and other "meat" mobs. Now that I finally (in the last hour I played yesterday) found the last item I need to craft the lowest level fishing rod, and now I read this thread and see catching fish is buggy. Yeesh.

I still haven't fished since implementation I'm still like 99.6 fishing, I haven't really played much either since I've been robbed of a goal of mine. This is my true honest feedback. I'm not exactly a fan, and might never be. However I could be convinced to try it again; Fishing needs to add unique and useful content, perhaps treasure maps that let you do a 'clue scroll' or something akin to or items that allow you to increase sailing speed, a casket full of gems or rares, a ring that decreases water bar usage. Be creative or something?

I'm sorry you got beaten up at the rift - it sounds like you were trying to get into an area where there were a lot of mobs, so probably early in a wave. Sometimes the best thing you can do is pick your moment, wait for the critters to thin a bit before you run back in. It's generally best to approach the rift crowd a little at a time, so just attract the aggro of a few critters, then kill them, then go a bit deeper, gradually working your way in; that way, you don't get mobbed. Also, it's not a bad idea to take a less valuable horse into the rift, as that way, if the horse catches dead (and they will from time to time), you haven't lost your favourite one. You can always ride to the rift on the fast horse, leading the spare, then make sure you park your good horse well clear (ideally in a pen) while you ride the spare. You should always have plenty of cotton handy (keep a backup supply in your tent/cart), as there often aren't many characters around who can heal. Good luck, hope you give a rift another go sometime!

I find it horrible, it is unfun, annoying and unrealistic. I do like that we still have more basic and complex rod crafting, it goes well with all the other decent crafting. but having started new on a server recently shows how badly the system actually is. However stupid is: Twigs for floaters. Wurms for baits. Wurms: Having just like one wurm per Tile is bad and unrealistic. we should be able to find wurms repetetively, depending on the area there can be up to 500 (earth) wurms per m² ansd we have one per tile. Twigs: a bush is basically a plant made out of twigs and branches. We should be able to get both branches and twigs form bushes without tools. Doing so should damage the plant. That would make sense and grants multiples. The rod or parts break way too often early making it a HUGE annoyance. These two basic things can be very annoying to find if there isn't the right environment around. And they make early fishing unecessary complicated. There are fishes pulling away with only stupid 70gramm weight (given visual size matches their weight somehwat) but perches in general are way too tiny to properly break a line or even pull away. That's truly a joke that it happens. Spear fishing, pretty stupid. Coastal spear fishing is not made by throwing it's made by stabbing. Or swimming/diving and stabbing. Give us basic wooden spears that are made of nothing than wood. And one with a stone tip. You should make rod fishing an own skill and spear fishing. And make spear fishing the most basic form as this is the most realistic basic form of fishing.

Ok I havent played the game for ages, so maybe 2years so it's only new for me. Now I started a REALLY new character. And I just ate 3 cows and 2 sheep + a troll (yeah guards killed him) so that were around 6kg of meat. I filet it, also added a potatoe, corn, 2 mushrroms and various other herbs to make multiple casseroles. Yet all that food didn't even gave 20% on the foodbar. This is seriously bad, it looks like all these new mechanics were not considering truly new characters, nor were they considering the great realism that many parts of the game had. With such a laod of food I should be stuffed. Maybe not nourished in the greatest way but definately not going into danger to soon starve because I just ate around 8kg of food. 8kg Try that in RL. The old food system had a way better curve where you could fill yourself properly yet only got bonus from really good food. Now eating multiple animals doesn't even stuff you ? Good thing is I seem to have proper foodskills in RL otherwise I would have to go now and Buy 60cows to feed my 4 headed family for lunch.

I am a returning player. I was traveling to a few different continents in order to build and decorate for people. Some things happened in real life and I got pulled away. I'm looking forward to getting back into it. I'm hoping to find a active or semi active community, with room to grow ,that could use a hand. If my account has not been deleted, I should have money to pay for my upgraded account immediately. I use Discord as primary communication. Please respond to me here, if you are interested, or send me a message. My primary residence was on Independence but I do not mind relocating as this will be a fresh start with only my skills for aide.

If a building is on deed and for some reason the player who owned the building stops playing, the mayor should have the option of claiming ownership of this building. There is no reason for the mayor not to have this ability, they already have the ability to demolish the building, and or allow other village members the same option. So in essence there is no security issues with the player who was permitted to put up the building up on the deed in the first place. There are many reasons for a mayor to always try and obtain the ownership of on deed buildings, but quite often this is not done as to allow the village member of a deed some responsibility and freedom in doing there own building while living in that village. Often deeds transfer hands several times and a few buildings sit there with no active ownership. I myself in the past with friends joining wurm and playing for a short time then leaving again, along with there building writs. Asking for them to hand over the writ to there first building they put up was not something I ever thought to ask them. Recently I bought a deed and the owner did not have all the writs, I spent a lot of time with catapults and mauls tearing down buildings when I decided to resize the deed, a very time consuming task and such a waste for a nice building as well. What reason is there to force the mayor and members of a village to destroy a building simply because the owner is no longer playing. Quit often the building may be very large, or perhaps so nice you would not want to destroy it in the first place, or maybe a bridge is connected to it or just a good functional building. Unowned buildings in a village leads to huge problems if the village needs to be resized or even maintained, as the mayor will not have ownership of all the buildings. Also just think of the poor folks who for whatever reason let there deed upkeep lapse, they come back to a village they will not be able to re-deed over if there is a unowned building smack in the middle of it. I have seen this happen several times over the years, with people replanting there deed the same day or even a few days after it has disbanded. I have seen a re-deed village with the token very far off to the side of its original location due to unowned buildings on the opposite side where the buildings they wanted to keep along with the one causing the problems all taking perimeter decay. What I propose is a simple solution to this problem, allow a mayor to walk up to a building that is on there deed, right click it and transfer the building to there ownership. Once done the permissions can be set for the person who originally owned the building or the mayor could just destroy it or even assign it to a new villager or just do whatever they want with it, it is there deed after all. I hear lots of talk about making wurm more enjoyable for the playerbase, well un-owned buildings in your village is anything but enjoyable when the time comes to dealing with them.

Noticed this before the Easter Egg restart, but didn't get time to post... Wagons now all appear to have the same wood type colours. Some time ago they correctly showed their wood type colour, I am not sure when this change happened. As far as I can see it is only wagons that have this issue. Two pictures, the first from today showing two wagons (Lingonberry on the left, Cedar on the right) with a Lingonberry large cart, all are unpainted. The second picture shows the same Lingonberry wagon with two large cart with different wood types (cherry and rose) taken soon after the new wood colours were added to the game.

I haven't been doing any modding lately (apart from fixes) but plan to get back to it this week. Had a few games in my backlog to cut down. Inaccessible delivery locations are an issue, but I'm not sure there is any way around it. Even if it was restricted to NPCs there's nothing stopping people blocking them off, or placing them in a locked building. Such is the freedom Wurm offers. Maybe it's something that will just have to be left up to the server owners to sort. Definitely, it's something I was keeping in mind. I did think one related idea would be a kind of "premium" delivery option, for an extra fee, where if after a certain time the order hadn't been delivered it would be delivered automatically. As for cancelling, cancelling a delivery that hasn't been picked up yet (e.g. realising an error just after you placed the order) should happen easily. However if a player has already picked up the package there should probably be some kind of cancel time. Otherwise the person who placed the order can cancel immediately (e.g. if they need the goods at the start end) but forfeits a certain percentage of the cost to the person doing the delivery. Now that you mention it, splitting too much might mean an order takes longer to be delivered. It was something I thought about a while back, shouldn't be too difficult with a highway in place. I thought about creating a different kind of waystone that would serve as a sort of centre post for a market. It could block modifying the area, which the owner could turn off temporarily disabling the market whilst changes are made, so that a one time pathing calculation could work out the routes to all of the stalls. A merchant that can wander everywhere would be nice, but long distance pathing and getting stuck would be an issue. An easier way to do it might be to just have merchants teleport between unoccupied market stalls. That way every market would see some fresh goods on a regular basis, and you wouldn't need to have highways in place. One drawback would be that if people create too many stalls across the server loads of markets would be empty. Could even be used as a type of griefing.

I don't think the issue is about how to best use the system as it it. The issue is that, as it is now, the system is flawed. Chopping ingredients does not make meals more nutritious or filling, so why does the game make it so? Pre-cooking some of the ingredients does not make meals more nutritious or filling... Chopping ingredients isn't a skill... makes no difference to your stomach if you chop perfectly uniform sized little bits or a hot mess. Good games have systems that are intuitive to the player. Unless you burn the meal into charcoal, the QL of the meal really shouldn't matter to the character eating it. The only reason it does, in my humble opinion, is to appease the long time players who feel they have a right to more "profits" from selling cooked food.

Alright, so I'm going to try to change my progress update format, to doing a new post, (hopefully on a weekly basis of being on Sundays), for a weekly progress update, then I'll just quote said post to the original so that it will be easy enough to see the updates in development all in one place So, this week, I decided to try my hand at one of the more complex models in the game - the furnace; this one took me about 4 hours, (about 5 if you include the lit variant). After that I went onto my second tree edit, which was the oak trees, they turned out very well in my opinion, and only took about an hour of work, was surprised considering my first tree took many, many hours, and was where I'd stopped working on the project the first time I took a break from working on it, (mainly placing the leaves burnt me out on it). Next was replacing the random ferns that you see in the tall grass, very simple replacement of a texture, so that was done very quickly. After that, I decided I would take a stab at the really plain hedge textures... I thought this would be a very simple task, considering how plain the original textures were for this... I was quite wrong, due to the way the high hedges handle the textures; my first attempt was too, repeating of the same texture, so I tried to add more depth to it by adding in branches and such, but in doing so, I was having issues with the seam between the top and bottom halves of the high hedges... So then it was back to the drawing board... The fix was actually the fact that I was trying too hard, instead just simply layered leaves over bark instead, which helped with the repeating look by breaking it up, but naturally tiled the texture well enough. The final thing I got done this week was the maple hedges, as I figured I'd stay on track with what I was doing... These were much nicer to work with, and only took a short bit of work to get completed ^^ I know it's not much progress for a week of work, but I am only one guy, and I'm working on this ontop of working a full time job, plus editing flat texture files, not in a 3D setting to see the edits in real time... I get to load them into the game and see how they look every single time I wanna know something about them, so progress will be slow that way XD Hope everyone likes what they've been seeing, and I'll keep fiddling with textures till the next progress update ^^ - April 21, 2019 Progress Update Screenshots:

These exact words are words that I really do not understand. Since when was the consumer powerless to tell a service provider or a manufacturer that they do not like their product? There is a whole lot of this in our world culture nowadays, and that's obviously something I can't discuss here without my post getting Gestappo'ed. My point is this; We are the consumers. In the end, WE decide whether Wurm sinks or floats by putting OUR money into the system. If that system changes for the worse in such a way that we don't enjoy it, we have the power to make this abundantly clear by retracting our monetary assets from the equation. There is some of this happening, with the decline of the playerbase over the last few years that we can all agree has definitely happened. But to me there seems to be a number of people who perpetually "look past" this because they have hope for the game. Hope for changes, that often aren't even on the board of consideration as far as the team has told any of us. Now, I am one of those people - whole-heartedly I want Wurm to be a good game and I want to say that I look forward to future changes and seeing the game grow. While some of the freedom oriented changes are good, they aren't needed or often even wanted, in the case of the fishing overhaul. But at some point, I have to look at the direction Wurm is headed and acknowledge the fact that it is not headed in the direction I would like to see it go - Nay, the changes that are being made are actually making my time spent here less and less enjoyable by the week. Where is that line drawn? And why is it that people are not taking this course of action? Do they simply not believe that it is warranted? The matter of fact is that at this point, Wurm isn't a good game in it's current state, and the game isn't getting much better. There aren't any talked about changes that we actually want to happen, or that need to happen. And the game isn't growing. Entire facets of the game are being amputated like a gangrenous leg. (Thanks, PvP) As much as I want to see this game progress I believe at this point the only way we are going to get the type of drastic 360-degree turnaround that we all agree needs to happen, is if Wurm and its team are presented with the ultimatium of making changes or the project going defunct and unfunded. Only time will tell.

Rifts are just a very small portion of the enjoyable (or not so) Wurm experience. Personally I have never participated in one or have any desire to. Seems that you have had a bad experience that you need to learn from if you want to continue to go to them. Already you have received some good advice here and no doubt more will be added. People quit the game for all sorts of reasons and there will always be people you find to be "mean" according to your standards, so best to pay them little heed and continue to have a positive experience and interaction with others that you like. =Ayes=

2 weeks ago I deeded the little lagoon area in the hopes of making a cool home in the mountain side. In doing this it left me with very little outdoor land to have grass tiles. It would be super useful to have a Feed Trough to put in the cave to keep my horses in there. I figure the Trough could work like a Chicken Coop. Where you put food and water in it (Of course you wouldn't be able to put horses or other big animals in it). Then for each 10ql the trough is, it gets a 1 tile radius for animals to feed from it. Example: 10ql - 1 tile Radius 20ql - 2 tile radius etc etc... The max you would get would be 100ql - 10 tile radius. Then you can further it by giving rare an additional +1, Supreme +2, and Fantastic +3. Meaning the theoretical max would be 13 tile radius. (All these numbers are just for an example) This would make it less difficult for players to keep and feed animals underground.

and exactly thats what makes food mechanics bad, If I eat that ql 60 meat raw its doing good stuff If I cook it it's suddenly bad. But I need to cook stuff to ever increase in skill. And fileting the meat doesn't realyl ruin it given that cooking makes low ql anyways.
  26. 1 point
as your butchering is low fileting the meat would ruin the ql of it, and ql is what determines how much each bite fills. if you're using "various other herbs" you're probably also making meals that are too hard for your current hot food cooking. can just eat raw meat if you don't care about the ccfp or anything, or make a roast spit

I honestly hadn't thought of navigation. I was thinking of this in the context of an established server, where you'd probably have a pretty good idea of where other settlements and such are ("Delivery contract to Agent_Mike at Thornview"). My first thought is tile coordinates, which would work for many servers, but not for servers without a livemap or players not using a compass mod to show coordinates. Something like the locate function might be good, especially for non-deeded NPCs. The Stake idea is also good; I just didn't want there to be a way to have a contract that's impossible to deliver. I suppose it still could be by placing the delivery location inside of an inaccessible location, so maybe having displayed coordinates as an option might help mitigate that, and beyond that I think it'd be on the server admin how they wanted to deal with such grief-play; Canceling the contract undelivered should probably be possible, or auto-canceling after a certain amount of time (to keep people from tying up a delivery indefinitely by not fulfilling it) Regarding shipment weight, I think that should largely be up to the person setting up the shipment. If they need 500 kg of "knife, iron" delivered, they could break it into 5 shipments of 100 kg, 10 shipments of 50 kg, or so on, and then people could take the contracts based on how much they can haul at any given time. Probably common sense to set a maximum weight based on what a strong character could hold in their inventory, to prevent someone trying to create a single 500 kg contract that no one could ever pick up.

East meets West down South! A new cats-eyed highway has been laid, to forge a connection between the two halves of southern Deliverance. The new link connects the lush farmlands of the central South coast, with the main East, West and North-bound highways. The central Southern coastal areas of Deli are some of the most important food and crop production areas in Deli, shipping ingredients to the far corners of Wurm. It is with great pleasure that the invitation can now be extended to all nearby deed holders to connect to this new highway. The new highway is shown in blue and red below. The original blue track was widened to two tiles wide, and single width bridge removed. Both blue and red parts were then cats-eyed. Many thanks to: Asidecay - for going above and beyond, even dropping a deed to remove a bridge, dirt filling, wall bashing and much more. If I had not started this project, I would never have met such a wonderful, kind, 'stand-up' Wurmian. I am so grateful. Zac and Jaytee, my new 'neighbours' - for so much help, planting cats-eyes throughout most of the Red part of the route and sorting out deed permissions. So grateful guys.
