For full transparency, does that mean a player basically blackmailed CCAB, having the company held hostage under remove the graphics or risk being sued, all over petty ingame differences? I'm not picking sides here as I don't have interest in either side and this is beyond sides, but this is quite a new low. Do these threats get handled by CCAB the same way chargebacks get handled by CCAB? It seems pretty damaging to the game and community for one player to have this much power over the company's direction and decisions.

Situation sucks, but would you rather Code Club get sued and have the potential to ruin any future plans or even future for the game? Here's an idea, point the blame where it needs to be, rather than at the hands that feed.

I would like to voice my concerns that for the 2nd time in roughly a month pmk graphics have been wiped/altered when people paid money for those items/gfx. I would expect the devs to do a much better job of protecting the art items people pay for. This has less to do with the TC issue and more to do with who is running the ship, why are PMK's like WU allowed to change their graphics unannounced? Say I want to buy something from a pmk, what assurances do I have it won't be a white wagon/banner/etc within 3 months? These 2 ugly incidents not only reflect poorly on pmk purchases but also on wurm and the decisions that led here as a whole I know wurm can do much better in the future with some forethought as to what is a good business plan and protecting it's customers interests.

Hi Everyone, As previously promised, I've taken the time to write a postmortem of the stability issues Independence has had, along with our future plans for server hosting. Independence began to lag considerably some time before February 7th. We had done a maintenance restart as scheduled and had hoped this would fix the issue. It did not. Later in the day we restarted only Independence in an attempt to fix the lag. During this restart I rebooted the server that Independence runs on and upgraded packages. This didn’t resolve the lag either, which I was beginning to suspect was hardware-related. By February 8th, we had a fairly good idea that a drive in the RAID was failing, so we began to move Independence to spare hardware. That hardware was our old Bridges test server, for those interested. It wasn’t new by any means, but it did have fewer cycles on it and the drives were fresher. Independence lived here for about two weeks while we worked on restoring the previous hardware. In the end. Hetzner replaced the failed drive as well as the entire hardware, leaving just one of the older drives with all the data. I restored the RAID and we upgraded the operating system as well as all packages. I had done this on a test server already, but the intention was to make Independence the first server to get this treatment in quite some time. You may have recalled that we were planning a very long downtime in the future. This was to do the same to all other servers and get things back up to date. Well, more on that in a bit. In the end, Independence is still experiencing lag and we’re quite aware of it. I believe this to be hardware related once again, and we will monitor as it continues. The sad part is that all of these issues overshadowed the fine work Samool did to reduce lag across all servers. We can move Independence back to the spare hardware should it become needed, though I am trying to isolate the problem. If it becomes unplayable though, we’ll do the move. While Independence was taking up all my time, Xanadu wanted some attention as well. You may recall a few crashes experienced. Well, these were long-standing and known crashes that we were unable to trace before. Thanks to the scrutiny and diagnostics tools we’ve had running to single out lag hot spots, we were able to trace the crashes back and fix them. Finally. One of these issues actually took Celebration down back in January. All of this was completely unrelated to the issues Independence was facing, and yet it made our stability look pretty awful. Budda and I were working on solutions in the background, not just for our stability issues but for a number of other problems as well. Hetzner has not been the most reliable host for many here, with network slowdowns and hiccups. Even router outages and emergency work that left us helpless as people were unable to play. Working with Rolf, we developed a plan to move from Hetzner and onto a more stable infrastructure with Amazon Web Services. This move is in its early stages. I am in the process of writing the code for the infrastructure and I am planning on standing up our test instances there first. If all goes well, I can begin writing the live server infrastructure and we can write up a future plan on the move and the required downtime to make this happen. This is what I meant by that extended downtime in the future - instead of patching up old hardware, we will be moving to new instances in a reliable cloud environment. For those concerned, we plan on using the Frankfurt, EU location so the servers won’t be “moving” all that far. I’ve had a lot of experience with AWS and I am very excited for what this means. While we maintain backups right now, all of this will become more secure and easier to manage. We can allocate more resources to a specific server if it becomes needed, or scale back and save money if a server becomes less populated. It means flexibility and stability for Wurm now and into the future, especially with the option to purchase reserved resources. I’m excited and I ask for everyone to have patience while we work through this transition. If anyone is curious, I can detail the infrastructure a bit once I’ve ironed out the details. Until then, happy Wurming!

The circumstances of my life and the global, environmental, and political climate of the world pushed my subconscious to desire to (again) seek out the safety of Wurm's mantle. I live in a dank metropolis and can't currently move due to financial and health issues. I yearn to run through open, unrestricted, unpolluted fields (good luck being able to do that in our world), to encounter mystery and surprises, to travel. I want to live in a rural area and have a cozy tiny house, off grid, with a lush backyard and a chicken coop. Yes, that is one of my main dreams. Wurm offers this to me. It may be just "Java", but you, Wurm, give me serenity and beauty, my own crops, animals to care for, seas to cross. All of us here are seeking something, and there is no shame in any of it. Some of us are quite addicted, and addiction comes from some deep place, and I honor it. I honor it in you. How many of us here seek respite in an isolated deed and do not care to interact? No shame. I honor all of it. How many just want someone to chat with about stupid things while entertaining their DNA's yearning for "hunting and gathering"? It's all honorable. Some of us may be in a good place behind the screen. Others may not be. We're all here in this moment in time, and I like to pause and marvel at it. In my heart, I don't feel that we'll always have the internet (where the world is going and etc). But that we got together in this alternate universe and created and communicated with one another using something akin to telepathy - is nothing short of a wonder. Poignant post? I have that touch, I guess. May our Wurm remain green, its seas alive, its bounty available to everyone regardless of income, its kings and queens loyal to their subordinates, and its Impalongs plentiful. <3 Thank you Wurm Online <3

Because copyright laws demand as such. If someone owns the copyright and someone not the copyright owner submits it, if CCAB used it without the copyright holders permission, they would be liable in most countries. --- Obligatory haha get rekt TC as it is my duty. Now on to the serious stuff. I think this is pretty sad on so many levels. The TC design although not particularily my favorite wagon (Wagons were pretty terrible mind you) was a very sweet design. The tabards were exquisite and rather amazing, and the art overall well made and very identifying of The Crusaders. It was overall a very well thought design that spoke of the identity of a kingdom. Seeing it gone is very sad and a loss to the community as a whole. Regardless of who's at fault here and what was agreed upon, what promises were fulfilled or broken or what this drama consisted of, this is a prime example of what Chaos has become. This is a snowball that has been rolling downhill ever since the MR hacks/metagaming/whateveryoucallit hit Chaos. Since then kingdoms stopped being players and friends enjoying a videogame and became these bloodthristy animals that their goal is not only to win a game, but to devastate their opponent in whichever way they can. The whole pvp community on Chaos has devolved to this. People trying to get people banned, people trying to find to make the game unenjojable for others, or people trying to get opposing kingdom members kicked. Its a war of emotions and drama instead of a war of the battlefield with death tabs and disbanded deeds. Its atrocious. Its what we've brought upon ourselves. I am not going to point fingers at anyone because despite of what the groups themselves may think, they are both at fault on this, and its already spilling outside of Chaos, now affecting people who have nothing to do with it. Its despicabe that people who could otherwise be friends are doing these things to each other. Why? What's the point? To win? We need to stop doing these things to each other. Its just a game, homies. We're not children. Lets leave the hair pulling behind and go back to bashing each other's heads... in game.

For all of those who have any items from crusader rest assured we will be working on a new design and will work with the community on it so it’s tailored to the popular appeal. As for the decision I will be going public with all the information screenshots and such. This was super poorly handled and ruled. I will expose every details in this case. For those that care the player who made the designs originally is a memeber of a opposing kingodm today to TC which is why this happened. It was a cheap blow to cause damage and unfortunately it bleed over to freedom. For that I am sorry. However know that all details will be posted for the public to know.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (Health symbol organisation) has recently been clamping down on the use of any red cross in games. https://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/video-game-red-cross-health-pack-emblem/ It might be a good time to rethink the colour, if not the design (which was lovely). Looking forward to the new designs - which I know will be just as good - can't wait to see them.

!!Nerd Warning!! The following content may not be suitable for all audiences. So I can share a little of what my first step here is. I'm a very big fan of infrastructure as code. The idea of being able to define whole server farms in code and commit that to a repository... well, it rivals coffee. That's why I'm using CloudFormation and a Python library called troposphere. I've played around with some other solutions in the past, but I've had the most experience with CloudFormation and recently troposphere and Python in general. To those not in the know trying to follow along: CloudFormation is an AWS-provided way of spinning up cloud resources (machines, networks, etc) by providing templates. Troposphere is a way to generate those templates from Python code. This is allowing me to abstract out things like the actual game servers. The reason for this is that it may actually be more cost-effective to have one or more servers share one larger machine instance rather than spin up two smaller ones. It also allows us to more easily move "game servers" around as needed. Since we'll be trying to fine-tune what our exact needs are, the ability for me to just "pick up" Xanadu and plop it on a beefier machine with a few edits and a button push is quite appealing to me. In the last day or so I've gotten my code and layers to the point where I've successfully spun up a small test cluster. This is exciting! I've got some more work to do on this, but I hope to be working on the provisioning scripts before the weekend is out. I still have some decisions to make on how I'll handle that, but the main goal there is going to be stability and ease of use. If we ever want to do something like Challenge again, or any other limited-time specialty live or test server, I'd rather it be something as easy as a button push to do it. Tl;Dr: I did something cool with clouds and parseltongue.

who says its a bad play style? Is that your personal opinion? My personal opinion is that they should exist, in my opinion the game should stop being modified every time a player cries about something.

What line? Rhetorical question, but seriously, I feel like I'm missing something with all this talk of ninja casting. Has anyone actually started a list? And if they have, why should anyone else respect it? I don't see why someone should have to wait till 2022(!) for their turn just because they were the last to find about it and sign up. No one should feel any guilt whatsoever about casting a rite whenever they get the chance. But the devs should feel responsible for the frustration, discord, and rancour this goal will sow in the community if it is not changed/removed.

Time for another update! I've been working more on provisioning, which is now right down to standing up Percona MySQL for each game server paired off on an instance. There's a few hitches to work through, but soon I'll be working on getting the Wurm code deployed. The next step after that will be deploying test servers and having a go with that. For the technically inclined, the way I'm handling isolating multiple instances of MySQL and Wurm is through the use of Docker. I've not worked out the logistics of Wurm's docker container yet, but the MySQL one is working perfectly. I've also broken the stacks out into the EBS volumes, the network, and the instances. This makes it easier to make a change to a specific stack without bothering the rest of them. That's all for now.

Isn't the agreement that once submitted CCAB can do what they want with the images? https://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/96673-pmk-graphic-templates/ Why are they bending to and entertaining such toxicity when they should just be removing it like any other player who seeks to harm the game.

A fair number of players have played and paid to play this game for 8-12 years on their main account. They have not purchased these accounts but have worked for all these skills themselves. This time and money involvement equals in effect Characters that have *earned* whatever benefits that these skills and experiences provide. Why should these earned Skills and the opportunities that they provide be taken away from them? Why would they want to voluntarily want to give them up? Why should newer players be provided with some types of shortcuts to these ends? This is not rational thinking but rather wanting the fast road regardless of what efforts others have put forth before their arrival. The game reflects real life outside of it in respect to earning things and growing character over time to advance in whatever path the individual chooses to pursue. Not really hard to grasp this basic concept yet strangely some newer players discard it in their envy of those who have progressed much farther than them. Perhaps they will never "catch up" but that is the advantage that earning something over a longer period of time provides. Even then some newer players will circumvent this whole learning process by purchasing highly skilled accounts and then speak as if they know what the game is all about. I dare say that they have skipped over the heart of it and then attempt to change it to fit their minimal experience. Yes indeed, a sad story, for them anyway. =Ayes=

To add to my previous post, we own all the stock images used on our design. The creator did not, it was our images used. We bought them to avoid copyright.

It's a red cross made in photoshop with a fancy gradient. Did the Knights Templar threaten to sue TC? lol I'd love to see said "Copyright" that was secured by said "original creator". lol
  20. 4 points
You'd be amazed at the grounds to get sued, and it's a 100% understandable situation for the people who run the game. Why toe the line of risk when you can be totally safe? Wurm isn't some mega entity, it doesn't generate millions of euros every year, and how many members of it's own development are actually unpaid? You're being unreasonable. The risk is too great.

2 weeks ago I deeded the little lagoon area in the hopes of making a cool home in the mountain side. In doing this it left me with very little outdoor land to have grass tiles. It would be super useful to have a Feed Trough to put in the cave to keep my horses in there. I figure the Trough could work like a Chicken Coop. Where you put food and water in it (Of course you wouldn't be able to put horses or other big animals in it). Then for each 10ql the trough is, it gets a 1 tile radius for animals to feed from it. Example: 10ql - 1 tile Radius 20ql - 2 tile radius etc etc... The max you would get would be 100ql - 10 tile radius. Then you can further it by giving rare an additional +1, Supreme +2, and Fantastic +3. Meaning the theoretical max would be 13 tile radius. (All these numbers are just for an example) This would make it less difficult for players to keep and feed animals underground.

I think this has been open long enough, it's clear the discussion is long past the plans the crusaders have for their replacement. Saroman and myself will work with the crusaders to ensure their replacement graphics are in as soon as possible. It's disappointing it's come to this as I had hoped mediation would work, but in the end the best we can do from here is move on. We will be locking this thread and performing clean up from now. Thank you for your time.

Beautiful post I also know of people who struggle with other limitations like illness or disability, yet find freedom and escape in Wurm on the back or a horse riding the big open grass fields (or being the champion at a rift or standing alone on the top of a high mountain peak.) Wurm Online gives everyone the chance to create their dreams.

What world do you live on? Come to England, we have like 50 cities and a few towns, the rest is fields and rural areas. There is a lot of brainwashing on the internet and tv, especially by the Americans. The co2 was like 10 times higher in prehistoric times and everything flourished, oxygen is the poison. Why not leave your city and take a look around.

This is twice you use this exact wording. This more sounds like the struggle you're going through right now. You don't want to continue to pay for a game you play. As far as the idea, no. Easy mode kills games. Next we'll get achievements for walking 4 feet just so everyone gets their participation trophy. No thank you. This game does not need to be dumbed down. It would detract from the work everyone has put in for over a decade of game play. If people do not want to pay monthly or have minimal starting skill levels, this is what WU is for and is done in WU easily.
  30. 3 points
The big problem this game has with account purchases isn't "the economy" (since that's created by the players themselves and would turn to a flaming pile of dog excrement regardless), but that people who buy their skills don't understand the work that's gone into raising them. People that don't understand the time consumption for various tasks and achievements are more likely to suggest new features that ultimately make the game tedious, and sometimes horrible tedium suggestions slither their way into the game. So if enough player started buying accounts that were already skilled then more and more of those types of suggestions that only make sense to people that haven't played for any real amount of time would start getting support in the suggestions forum. The end result of that would be that older players would become alienated, new players with regular non-skilled accounts would become deterred and the type of people who want to buy their skills would eventually move on to another game anyway.

With a great amount of hard work from friends and allies, I would like to bring to your viewing pleasure (hopefully), the new Tap Dance Market. I realize that most trading is done via the Trade Chat or Market threads here on the forums; however, for those who care, a complete overhaul of Tap Dance Market has just been finished. Marble ramparts that can be climbed and are fully walkable. There are more market stalls then will ever be needed. Parking lawns with enchanted grass for animals. An 11 tile Archery range to accommodate all bow types. A small, basic, arena filled with slopes and sand. Two gazebo buildings to get out of the sun or to hold events in. Spacious Tavern with seating and five rooms for overnight stays. Highway extended to center of deed and all entrances are widened for travel. Large Cathedral aptly named the Celebration Hall. This Hall is not simply a church to hold sermons, but it doubles as a workshop fully stocked with forges and ovens. Point was made here to create not just a market again, but a gathering place for people. Celebration has amazing people and not enough events. Whether it's ever used, that's up to you - Image Album - Thanks go to my entire alliance. Could not have pulled this off without each and everyone of them. Jennyr, Branek, Lumi, Sweetsusie, Jonydowy, Atheline, Job, and Orlin. I want to also thank Pinkfloyd for logs and Waarokku for the chats and materials. Celebration has an amazing crowd of people.

While I think alt abuse is the big bad and isn't really adding to the game in any real way, 70 fs doesn't really stop anything, if I wanted to do alt things for example I already can pick from my selection of alts with 70+ fs, some even already being on insanity/hate. It's the same thing as being able to differentiate war deeds that need to get smashed and legit player homes. How can the game on its own know what is and isn't an alt easily? When I played on Wild/Chaos there were plenty of legit people without 70fs that wanted to help the kingdom. When I played Epic there were plenty of legit people without 70fs that wanted to help the kingdom. Do I think they should have gotten 70fs because it's so easy to get and helps so much? Yeah, I do so I suggested it to people, whether they did anything with it or not was up to them. However I wouldn't want to harm the game for those people just because a select few hypocrites are using alts for kicks because they know it upsets you/others.

Wonka hit it on the head. It was a project I was working on - to get all those affected so we can work on some sort of compensation. The good news is, if AWS pans out, it'll be easier for me to do it.

It has to be replaced by something you dont have to compete with others on. Yes, its competing, not cooperating. This is how i see it just another way of splitting the freedom community, instead of bringing it together. Atleast the community seems to come together and agree that its a stupid goal, and should not be there. Either completely change how rites work. Or replace the goal with something that can be completed in cooperation, but not have to be.

I'm hoping to have test servers on AWS by the end of the week. I've done this so many times now, it's kind of second nature for me. We'll be doing a test with live server data as well. I'm hoping we'll be giving a firm date on the move by the end of two weeks, if not before.

@RetrogradePlease explain exactly what part of the design is copyrighted according to anyone\cyber, so there is no bulshit when we resubmit the updated design. The graphics themselves like the rose were purchased by Mclovin.

I'll give the break down on the situation since I am the person who organised the Art from the start and got people working on it. So when we founded the PMK we contacted some outside sources who had done Romes previous work and some others who we heard may have a good hand at graphics. Internally within the kingdom we told people that if they wanted to submit a design, go ahead but we're looking for outside help also and the final concept will be voted, this is when Cyberhusky/Anyone contacted me. Anyone was part of the kingdom and was fairly active after having a break from JKC itself, we both use to get on back in the day and I had always called for him to come join us on Chaos, so when he stepped forward he contacted me on steam with original concept, which was a + without a rose and bleach white tabard and some basic design. At this point he was coming forward as a kingdom member "wanting to help" the group so I said great cool, i took that back to the guys in "Top Chat" and things got pointed/wanting altaring. The first thing was the Cross was quite plain so could we add something...So I went and brought a Stock image of a rose and gave that to Cyber, through steam me and cyber spent probably a few hours just altering the design, changing some stripes on the back (never got fixed) and adding "dirt" to the tabard/wagon itself so it wasn't so white - incorporating the rose on the flags, tall banners and wagons etc. Let's just say I probably at this point requested about 25 changes to Cyber, who Also helped me design the actual recruitment page art too and after hassling for so many changes which Anyone was really quick to do, we both worked out the final concept, I had no idea how to do graphic design and of course it makes sense to only have 1 person edit, but it was all the "Top Chats" feedback and we all pitched in the final design. Now at this point, it was 100% volunteer, want to make that crystal clear. After we had the concept and I submitted to Saroman, we got the graphics uploaded but some things didn't go quite right. Just minor glitches but again Anyone cleared these up really fast and we re-submitted a change. After all the hasle I personally felt i put Anyone through, with the constant changes I mentioned to Top Chat that we should Donate Cyber/Anyone some Silver (20 silver) once PMK sales started to thank him for his work because we were all really happy with it and he had made the changes fast/out of his own time, which I let him know, he said there was no need but thank you and sure when that happens that would be nice. Well, Cyber quit. Dropped off Chaos completely and we didn't really talk much. Then one day he popped up again like hey man about that donation, can I have it? I was pretty straight and I said hey man, we've just done x deed x resources and we don't have that donation right now, are you playing on chaos again? He was. He came back and he was playing in a different kingdom. I said to him, mate we don't have the Silver but you can take a PMK set, which he agreed to. I told him I wasn't very active right now but it's all made and who should I send it to, the rest will have to be delivered on freedom, nothing got replied. A few months go past. He's now in LOA. He pops up again and asks about his PMK set, I tell him yes it's ready when he is, he's on chaos so he can come get it anytime he wants. Fast forward a few more months, still not collected, so our friend Talor who i believe is mutual between us both pm's me and asks if he can give Cyber a PMK set and I said yes of course he is owed that and I've told him to come grab it anytime he wants, Talor tried to get that PMK set to Anyone but he as far as i know, failed to make arrangements with Talor and Talor could not deliver the PMK set based on this. Fast forward a few years, add salt, add WO PVP Drama and you got a salty person who has told @Egard(and Egard may add the screenshots) that he's pretty much pursing this because of his personal vendetta against me. Which is fair enough I suppose. So that's the back story to all of how we're here but I have a few questions to ask. 1. I own the Rose since I paid for the copyright to be used in Our art, how do you copyright something that I own? 2. If we magically were able to give the silver, what would have stopped him from chasing this today because of personal issues with me? Sounds like even if we paid him 500 euros, his "case" would still be valid to remove the art? 3. If he was thinking he was getting paid for his art work, why didn't he await the payment, as anybody would before giving it all to me to submit, not only submit but make amendments for me to resubmit to Art team? 4. Why wait almost 4 years to make a complaint - When clearly you were failing to make arrangements to collect your Donation. If this is the final choice (as it seems to be) then I am sorry to the players who purchased the Artwork who have been affected. Anyones vendetta doesn't just scope towards me, but instead hits out at all those who invested in the art and added it to their collection. It's very unfortunate that Anyone wouldn't help us deliver his Donation but at the same time as pointed above even if we did it seems like he could have withdrew this art at anytime he wanted. I suppose it's lucky he can't Copyright the Crusader theme so don't expect too much of a wild change as I'm sure we can muster up a Cross and still use my Stock rose as the basis - We will make a few designs and will probably allow you to vote for them. As @Egardsaid we will work close with the community to bring a great design and if @Saromanand @Retrogradecan contact me through a PM for advice, that would be great. I may edit this like 500 times because reasons. Some references I can muster up right now which were used in the case, timestamps do not represent when it was actually asked. ^ "hint: it's a joke haha ha ha ...ha"

The problem with this suggestion is people who live off deed because they don't want to pay prem. What about those buildings then? Should someone be allowed to bash my house just because I never chose to pay for a deed? But I don't want you to know I own my off deed house so you don't bother me about blowing up my building. Basically people enjoy their privacy. If they wanted you to know who built their house, they'd put their name on it. Besides, what happens when a house is sold, or not built by the current owner? Basically asume that if a house is there, then the owner doesn't want you to have it. Move on. There's plenty of empty spots in the game now.

Do you think you can change wow's model with 1 opinion? Than again opinions or wishes mean nothing, it's the way the game works and keeps going. If you pay once and shut the cash flow.. that money have to come from somewhere, than we go for OP cashshop items, skins, perks, boosts, semi-gm powers, where do we draw the line? Isn't it better to leave things how they are?

Reading fear and doubt facebook posts like that is extremely unhealthy for the mind and just spreads the fear to other uneducated minds. I dabble in Eco stuff, it's not great but it's not extinction level or even close to that currently.

I'd limit the skill cap boost to 70... making it to 90 remove all incentive to pay for premium. while it might be interesting, what would be the outcome of such system on pvp and priests?

It's a monthly subscription game, just like many other games have been. Pay premium or quit entirely are not the only options. This game continues to run by people paying subscriptions on account and to some extent deeds. If you remove that, you kill the game.

I agree with Aeris on the appreciation of the game aspect, as well as that players who buy accounts (especially players newer to the game) have a different focus on game play. Obviously they don't want to earn their skills by playing the game but rather to use these advanced skills to achieve specific results. This is not really the game design at all which is a slow and tedious building of skills to a higher level but rather a way to bypass all this perhaps years of work through the purchase of developed skill accounts. If this were the intent of the game the Devs would simply boost up skill level gains to any speed that they desired, as can be seen on some of those WU servers. Even the deal you propose in your OP is a bad one for the game's income since currently to raise skills above 20.00 players must pay for Premium time. On that basis it makes no sense at all. Why should players pay for any Premium time up to 50.00 skill level then. You are already also including an instant advancement to 30.00 Characteristics and Skills in this deal too. Hitting 30.00 in Characteristics takes much longer than Skills in comparison, so it just shortcuts that advancement significantly as well, all at the loss of income that would otherwise need to be paid for Premium time to get there. Perhaps you should consider that it may not be a "mistake" that the game is designed so that players will slowly progress in it by building their Characteristic and Skill levels to then enable them to accomplish more within it. Try to think of it as being intended and that these account sales on the forums were *not* really part of the process but just an unfortunate consequence of a situation that would be significantly problematical to control. If this were the case, as it does seem to be, then the game would never participate directly in the sales of developed accounts since it goes contrary to the game design of slowly developing your own Character. This is where I think those who purchase other players Characters are missing the point of the game design because for whatever reasons they wish to avoid putting all this time/work into the game. For the game to directly participate in this *Character Purchase* aspect as you suggest would just show that they had abandoned their standards for some dollars and short changed their players who had developed their own Characters according to the game design. Tldr? Read it then! =Ayes=

!! MORE Nerd Talk !! So I've managed to get a server for our test servers up and running and using a framework I wrote. from troposphere import Template from clusters.test.Servers import Oracle, Druska, Baphomet from wurm.server.GameServerInstance import GameServerInstance from wurm.networking.Network import Network from wurm.networking.PublicIngressRules import PublicSshIngress, PublicHttpIngress, PublicHttpsIngress t = Template() net = Network(t, availability_zone='us-east-1a', title_prefix='TestCluster') net.add_vpc('192.168.0.0/16') net.add_subnet('192.168.56.0/24') net.add_internet_gateway() net.add_route_table() net.add_route("0.0.0.0/0") net.add_security_group(title='DefaultSecurityGroup', description='Default ports', rules=[PublicSshIngress, PublicHttpIngress, PublicHttpsIngress]) instance = GameServerInstance(t, net, availability_zone='us-east-1a') instance.image_id = 'ami-0f9e7e8867f55fd8e' # Debian Stretch instance.instance_type = 't3.medium' instance.ssh_key_name = 'wantsmore-coffee-us-east-1' instance.game_servers = [Oracle, Baphomet, Druska] instance.add_instance() f = open("test-instance.json", "w") f.write(t.to_json()) f.close() It may not look like much, but that's because I've abstracted much of it behind "GameServerInstance" and "Network". There's a bit more to do, such as move security groups out of Network so that I can spin up the VPC (essentially the entire network) in it's own stack. Then the instances themselves will spin up in their third and final stack. The first stack contains the volumes for each server, but that isn't shown here for brevity. This is all what I've done in about 36 hours of plugging away. The next step is to get provisioning going - I want to be able to provision new servers automatically. Then I can transfer a snapshot of all test servers over to AWS and see what we've got. The provisioning is really the hard part as I'll be doing some newer things - such as pulling the server artifacts from maven instead of manually uploading them or building them before launch. I've been meaning to do this for literally years now, so what better time than now! Ideally, this will lead to shorter update downtime and less human error. And before the techno-critics rip this apart - it's not final! This is a rushed test script that generates a proper template that I've validated in AWS. Oh and if anyone wants to look at the template file the last run generated, it's here: https://pastebin.com/8QTxnXTH Don't worry, there's nothing sensitive in it.

Just wanted to add a bump to say, I joined Oakheart and I love my new home People are very open and friendly. I already have my own little house and have been happily skilling up in the middle of an amazing huge city. Very much recommended. If you are interested to know more about Oakheart, I didn't see the website in the initial post in this thread - https://oakheart-wurm.wixsite.com/index Also because I was wondering when I was first looking at Oakheart - the current guilds are farming/cooking, carpentry, tailoring, forestry, mining, smithing, masonry, animal husbandry, and merchants. Find your niche in the great oak! (This post was not sponsored by Oakheart administration, any views herein are my own)
