Please, Wurm, tell me I'm too far away to grab something from a crate/BSB/FSB -before- asking me how much of it I want. It's very frustrating to get the transfer pane, enter a number, and -then- be told "you're too far away".

    1. Rugs that can be dyed. 2. The ability to dye canopy beds 3. Option to relocate deed token (Freedom only, long cooldown, must be within bounds of existing deed) 4. More slots/capacity on bookshelves (You can't fit very many books on them as it is now) 5. New statues of the gods, craftable with stonecutting (smaller than the arch statues, can substitute as an altar over QL 30) 6. More flower types. (And fuller-looking flowers in pots and planters, they look like sad dying stems.) 7. Better options for dye storage (The alchemist's cabinet is okay, but very limited and the decor on top is repetitive if you have several) 8. Dresses. (Not just for female toons. Let the guys rock a dress and let that chest hair really get it's moment in the spotlight!) 9. Wall decor - tapestries are cool, but there's not enough of them. This is where taxidermy would be awesome. 10. Tall kingdom banners that can be dyed (base freedom model) 11. Glass-making: Windows, glass bottles, wall mirrors 12. New healing cover made from honey+square of cloth (honey is antimicrobial, and these dressing are used in hospitals even now) 13. Recall to tower: Interaction with guard tower that teleports guards not active in combat back to the guard tower. This would remove guards from caves and bridges where they get stuck. 14. Diagonal fences for those less boxy edges. 15. Wagons with plain white cover that can be dyed. 16. Use dyes on clay pottery before firing to create a glaze for more decorative pottery pieces, such as those below. Maybe we can even stick a flower out of it (like those roses and lavender) 17. Now that we have some new critters running around, I'd like to suggest allowing them to be tamed. I'd love some gorillas to take care of. 18. Create spawns on former deed sites, especially where there are still fences and broken down buildings. I'd love to run into a skeleton or a ghost (whatever they're called) while doing some archaeology because it makes sense in those areas.

Recent Valrei crafting missions have resulted in large item spam (tables, carts, racks, etc.), and I would love a more accessible way than lava/bashing to destroy them. Seems like that would be a good thing all around. Possibilities: - A large altar to sac large items (seen it suggested, not sure how you'd get a cart inside it, but hey!) - A staff/torch/wand of saccing, allowing you to activate it and sac something (probably too many PvP implications for mobile saccing, unless you had to be in the vicinity of an altar to use it) - Disassembling, ideally for parts/skillgain, but for now, I'd settle for sheer destruction.

To clarify on this, and I plan on posting a full postmortem once I'm done: The hardware that Independence once ran on has been replaced and a new drive installed with it's RAID1 restored. Since it's newer hardware now, the intention is to move Independence back and keep the somewhat older hardware in a fresh state for future emergencies. Along with the new hardware, I've updated the operating system and several other services. We currently have a test server running on these updated systems and services, and so far it looks good. So Independence will be the first to run on the new system and the longer downtime Retrograde mentioned will be scheduled a few months out. Further details will be available once we set a specific date, but the goal is to give an advance warning as the downtime will likely be roughly 6-8 hours. I plan on collecting playtime data before deciding on a date and time to try and impact as few people as possible. I've also ran diagnostics on other servers and have found no other hardware issues as of yet. The lag spikes experienced elsewhere are definitely software-related and that's what we're looking into. I'm hesitant on announcing the changes we make to address lag for a few reasons: 1) If they don't work, everyone is disappointed. Make no mistake, while some changes are no-brainers, others are more fine-tuning and won't yield results until they're running in live. 2) Even if they do work, lag can be caused by other issues and we'd rather not make everyone try to figure out if the last patch *really* worked or not. That's what our profiling tools are for! Once we've made concrete progress, we can make a post detailing what we've done and what the results have been.

Right now, when sorting bsb's, I get all Sprouts in one area "Sprouts, X", but I have to hunt down Hops, Rose, Ivy, grape, etc seedlings because they're all over regardless of how you sort them. Even if you can't easily change them so they group like sprouts, logs, etc..., at least they could be sorted alphabetically and be close to each other.

Vaelir's Deed. Greetings Wurmians! Apparently this news is a little late, oops! We’ve been pretty busy dealing with some rather unfortunate hardware issues, we’ll fill you in on that in this week's news, so let’s get on with it! But first... Patch Notes: Independence issues. The lag independence has been experiencing was identified as a failure on one of the drives on the server, which was causing major delays when reading from the database. Upon identifying this our server hero admin Keenan performed extended maintenance during which the databases were moved to another hardware setup. This is a temporary issue while we perform maintenance on the Independence hardware and some time in the near future we will be undergoing an extended downtime period for all servers to perform necessary system maintenance as well. Alongside this we are also investigating the causes for the recent upturn in lag, this will take some time as we run profiling software on each server, identifying when it lags and why. We know dealing with lag is a major pain so it’s our current priority to address and resolve as soon as possible, we do appreciate your patience with it and once we’re in the clear we’ll look at what forms of compensation might be worthwhile. ‘Tis the season! Almanacs, examine, mouseovers, so much text to see if your tree or bush is ripe for the harvest, but what about the items? Coming very soon is a graphics update that displays fruit, berries and all those harvestable goodies directly on the tree. As you can see below, Saroman is always working hard on making Wurm look as alive as possible! This is expected to go out in the next few days, so if you see a graphics pack update, that will be why! Animation polishing Samool has also been hard at work on polishing general animations from a first and third person perspective, including having the camera move with certain animations! https://drive.google.com/file/d/19lduiQjq35duW40UAofd_4zjixt5a0kV/view?usp=sharing Of course it will be a toggle though, motion sickness while playing is never fun. HotA rework The ongoing HotA rework testing is still available on text, we have several devs working with feedback to ensure that any system that comes achieves the goals we have and creates something engaging, be sure to grab a chum, buddy or comrade to check it out and leave any feedback! That’s it from us this week, we’ll be hard at work addressing the hardware and lag issues and hopefully have some more info soon about the dates for the extended downtime. Until then though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.

A Secret Encounter... According to some of the grey ponies at The Mermaid's Cove, Deliverance (who are known to gossip most terribly and therefore can't really be trusted entirely), supposedly-retired stud HappyHill (aged fat black silver) has been spotted sneaking out of his field in the early hours of the morning, and heading for the broodmares' paddock where his lifelong love and wife RockEbony (aged fat appaloosa) still resides. "It was so romantic..." said one grey pony wistfully "..they just can't stay apart." "He went quite purposefully by way of the rose bushes!" whispered another in conspiratorial hushed tones. So... it seems that previous reports of the couple's split and HappyHill's retirement may well have been somewhat over-stated. Watch this space!

I think I posted in here but to be really honest, what this game really suffers from is punishing you for not playing. If you own a deed and don't login, the upkeep could've ran out and deed disbanded. If you own animals, their enchanted grass/food could've ran out and they died. Your items probably decayed or got stolen by the sleepless frothing nerd building fences around your deed checking nonstop so they can make a quick buck or ten. I've rarely been logging in lately since other things are more fun, but the rarely logging in is to make sure the pixel pets on freedom have the food they need to not die. The draw to logging in is seriously to make sure animals don't die and deeds don't fall and items don't decay. This is why people that take long breaks or quit stay gone

Problem is that the range on some of the spells that do most damage is greater then tanglethingy and since they still block archery with the shield while holding a statuette in their 2 hands there is not really a good way to counter it. I think what Wulf said is a good thing.

If you fuel forge, let it burn out, you get the cleaning option to recieve ash. If i just start rhe action useing a shovel, and then cancel it short after, i can not redo the cleaning. The "clean" is not shown anymore. I have tried this multiple times, and it happens every time. Seems not that this is a logic thing to do, i did not recieve ash, and the forge is still dirty, thus cleaning should be still available.

This is something that comes up every now and again in ca-help, newbies digging, dropping what they're digging on the floor and their skillgains getting disabled to what i assume is some ancient anti-macro from 10+ years ago. I really can't see what the point of it is if you can dig clay/tar and drop it into bsb's and only need to swap to a new bsb every 16,000 dug, all it does is confuse new players. removing it or giving a warning saying "skillgain will be disabled, move elsewhere" would be helpful for them, as it's a rather confusing system with 0 way of knowing about it unless you have skillgain set to every tick and you're watching the skill tab. Dig_to_pile doesn't have this issue afaik so no reason for dig to have it

i want to apologize for being upset, it was very fustrating since i tried so many different things. and when i tried to update my drivers they "wrongly" said that they were already the latest version. i tried manually installing like you said and on the first try its working 100% like it never has before, at best before, it would half work, targeting walls and floors but hard to target objects. while its working 100% i dont want to close this ticket just yet please. please let me have 1 day to see if it remains working fully like it is. and i apologize about getting slightly annoyed. i love the game and its super fun it was just fustrating thank you samool and votip both

Not having the skill level effect active but being able to grind it makes me think it will possibly lead to many bugs that can be exploited at least in the beginning. Imagine getting skill gains at 80 lvl as if your skill was 20 lvl. Another possible exploit could be that you would get max skillgain from imping a 30ishql item having 20 active skill while actually having 80. so you dont need a 90ql lump to grind your skill on that chain armor piece cuz it is about 30ql. Slower rate makes it balanced provided there are no exploits available. How much slower tho? Not slow enough and you will have people running many free chars on their strong computers to grind them up and sell them. Too slow and it has very little purpose. Does it make sense for a genuine newbie to grind up to 90 at weaponsmithing while freemium all the time? Not really. So wouldn't it be better if it was limited at 40 or 50. You have 20 effective but you can at max get 50 inactive skill unless you prem up. It will be on a slower rate, but not too slow. Another good option in my opinion is letting freemiums have full rights (can grind them and use them at current lvl) to few certain skills to a certain level like 40-50. Botanizing, Forage, Digging, Stone Cutting, Farming, Carpentry seem like good candidates to me.

my honest PC of this account would be considering it at full gone (30%) is 350 to 400 euros, it has some tomes which is cool but nothing too good, but is a solid account with lots of affinities for a grinder

I have good news. After we were left with an unfinished map software and no information about when it will be fixed (if at all), I teamed up with my friend Substr, who is an experienced web developer, to create a new web based interactive map. When finished, this new community map will contain all the information that we once had (highways, landmarks and location names, resources...) and more! Here is a sneak preview of what it will look like: This new map is based on a small and clean web application, created by Substr. We (Substr and myself) will have complete control over the map software and thus will be able to adjust the map to the needs and wishes of Deli's community, without being dependent on a third party. The new map is almost finished and will be available soon(TM). Please stand by.

Losing Sindusk from the team was very unfortunate for us players. Truly a once in a decade fortune for games like wurm. Due to their nature, games like wurm appeal to special individuals (us) that is a minority of the player base. As a result, games like wurm can't generate enough money to pay for dedicated long-lasting professional developers. Add to that the support the code requires due to the complexity of the game and you get a good recipe for disaster. We still have good developers, just not many enough to handle the requirements imposed by the needs of the code and the community. And that I believe won't change. What I get form Sindusk's post is the feelings of someone willing to contribute but who always got obstacles in front of him from bad staff members. Bad staff members drive away capable staff and creative players by their actions and by their decisions. Over the years I tried to analyze this situation in wurm and I concluded in the formation of an axiom, I call the Enki Paradox. Enki's a great staff member. Never loses his temper and never breaks character whatever ###### we do in forums an in game. Clearly capable of leading the team. Taking as a fact that moderating this community comes without any payment though, and the fact that this community is a little bit special with it's drama and it's needs, one could see why no mentally stable individual would join this team. This forms the Enki Paradox: The Enki Paradox: The reason why a capable leadership can't seem to be able to recruit capable staff, is because no capable and mentally stable person would bother moderating this type of community ... for free, for long. That's why so many staff members are here just for the authority the position gives them to impose their version of the world on others. So all in all bad staffers -> bad players -> even worse staffers -> worse players -> great staff members leave due to either one of those groups of people. In the words of commissioner Gordon from The Dark Knight, Batman is the hero Gotham deserves but doesn't need right now. Sindusk was the hero Wurm will never deserve, but will always needed.

I decided to resign from the Wurm Online development team. This was not due to any specific event, but instead a much longer sequence of events and general disagreement with deep-rooted policies in place for the Wurm Online team. I joined the team to make progressive changes for the game, and fix long standing issues with existing systems. The priest rework was a major accomplishment in that regard, overhauling a major system of the game into a much healthier state. However, I truly feel that the most significant issues with the game cannot be fixed through code. The common theme between everything that caused my resignation can be traced to one aspect: Communication. The first part would be development communication to the players. Certain features and development goals are kept secret with poor reason. Major changes can be implemented with players reading about them during the patch notes while the server is down. Without going into detail, Tower Chaining was one such feature that was nearly mishandled in this regard. This type of secrecy in the development leads to anxiety for players. What is the future fate of Epic? Should players continue playing there? If they place a new deed on Elevation, is there a possibility of the map being reset shortly after? How much heads up will be given? All these questions stem from the fact that there is no official statement for plans on the future of Epic. Everything is being done behind closed doors and leads the community to speculate. The players don’t know if there’s a plan for Epic at all. Making sure that content is complete before announcing it is one thing. Leaving the community in a state of anxiety without giving them something to look forward to is a whole different beast. There doesn’t need to be a set date, there doesn’t need to be a specific timeline. If something gets delayed, there was a reason. State the reason and trust the community to support it. Everyone in this community just wants the game to get better, but get kept at arm’s length due to fear of having them bark up a storm when something doesn’t get done. If you communicate clearly, and speak to your players like you’re having a conversation with a human instead of calming an angry consumer, you’ll see a much better response. The second part is an extension of the first, which is constraints imposed on staff when it comes to communicating with players. It was very recent that I received a discord PM regarding someone wondering who they should contact in order to report someone. I asked in the general staff channel if there was anyone around who could help this player. It got resolved, but not without it being made clear that type of communication to players is frowned upon. The expectation, being a developer and not someone who handles moderation, was to not respond to the inquiry at all. This is just a recent example, but this dates all the way back to when I first started. My communications with players seemed to have gone under incredible scrutiny. I remember instances where I was urged not to join specific chat channels or discord servers. I remember getting an absolutely insane amount of flak for appearing on stream without proper notification ahead of time. I remember reporting an issue and being told I shouldn’t even be bringing it up because it’s not part of being a developer. I remember having an exploit reported directly to me, bringing it up in the development chat, and then being chastised for having handled the bug report directly instead of redirecting them to the forums. These events all added up seemed to have painted me as hostile in the team. Like I was somehow breaking the natural order of things or overruling someone else’s duty. If someone comes to me with an issue, I shouldn’t have to judge whether I should attempt to resolve it or not. I shouldn’t be expected to ignore the message entirely and give the player no direction. Players have no interest in jumping through hoops to get something done “correctly” - it should just get done. These artificial restrictions, whatever purpose they serve, do nothing but harm the players in the long run and make players reporting issues excessively difficult. The final part is communication about GM actions to the general public, and even the players who are subject to the actions. This has nothing to do with GM rulings themselves. Instead, my primary point of complaint here is the communication to the players and general public when rulings are made. The lack of communication allows the players on the other end of the ruling to spin the narrative to paint corruption and bias into the decisions, even if they are not present. This dates all the way back to when Propheteer was banned and there was only the single statement made about it. From the GM team, there was no general statement as to why one of the most prominent players in the game was banned. Instead, it was handled behind closed doors and Propheteer was able to release his own statements to the player base, spinning the narrative to suit his perspective. If a clear, informative statement was made saying “Propheteer has been banned for this reason and this is the evidence we have against him” the whole situation would have gone much smoother. This translates to all decisions. When a PvP ban or raid ban is announced, it’s just announced then lifted some time later. Updates on the progress and expected timeframe would help settle the minds of players. Updates similar to “The bug has been found and fixed, and will be patched in the next update. When the update is live, we will ensure the bug has been fixed and lift the ban.” You can even provide non-committal ballparks for when that is. “We expect the update to go live later this week.” If it doesn’t happen, again, like stated before: You have a reason, just state your reason and trust the community to back it. Finally, this should extend to investigation process. Both sides should be heard during a dispute. Too many times have I heard of a player being punished without anyone listening to their perspective of events. Truth can’t be known until both sides are heard, and you can figure out the actual events that happened. For some reason, the players being accused are considered hostile and are never contacted to hear their side of events. GM’s should serve as mediators between players, not executioners of justice for those who do something suspicious. With all of that said, these aren’t the only reasons. Certain events that I’m not at liberty to discuss were also part of my decision. I truly respect the current development team and feel they have the best interests of the game in mind. However, improving the communication and winning your community back to supporting your efforts should be of paramount importance. I wish the best of luck to the future of the game, and hope players enjoy the content I’ve worked on. It’s been a great experience and it pains me to leave, but I feel that the work I do was being consistently tainted by policies and decisions outside my control.

Turning off GLSL in compatibility improved my performance over 500%. (Probably more like 10-20x) With GLSL I was getting about 30fps constant at 720p, absolutely everything disabled/low/short. With it turned off, I can run everything on high/far at constant 30fps, 1080p, using about 25% of CPU's GPU capabilities. However, there are no shadows or shaders, so world is a bit bland....but at least the textures and render distance are superb. Would highly recommend this for anyone else running on integrated...makes Wurm 100% playable and enjoyable. Could hit 60fps smoothly if I wanted, but I choose to keep CPU usage low, so fans don't run.

A pvp server with no MEDITATION MM TOMES PLAYER GODS HOTA HELL HORSES This idea is actually brilliant. I can't +1 enough - These are no longer unique features or even features we want in pvp - We ask for nerfs or removals etc...But yeah...Just going back to bare bones of what pvp is would be great. Build up from that with stability etc but really keep it SIMPLE
