Some people just don't like small talk, and aren't interested in being forced into it to not appear rude on the internet. I do things for my alliance members for free and turn down payments, I imagine stuff like that is what makes a good community, not "waving" to everyone in local that passed you

Since the mod was brought up (the one I made for exactly this purpose), I feel it's valid to provide some context. Basically, when I first generated the map for my unlimited server, it was riddled with horrible bumps and hills all over the terrain. It looked incredibly unnatural and was terrible to travel across. 10 slope up, 13 slope down, 11 slope up again. It was miserable. After some time, I managed to design a system that would naturally terraform the ground back into a more natural state by detecting severe deformities. It does this by moving dirt using logical amounts of slope differential between two sides. If you're looking at a hill that's 10-15 slope each tile up to the top, it's going to be entirely unaffected. If someone digs a 20 slope ditch on a single tile corner, the system would detect that and start moving dirt from the top down into the pit. It's actually somewhat difficult to describe how the system works, but it doesn't just "flatten" the world or make it look miserable. It also doesn't impact building sites, it doesn't work on deeds, and since its implementation there have been no complaints about the map terrain or existence of the system. The best way to describe it is probably a demonstration. This is the gif I used when I posted the patch notes to my server:

The effect you see there was highly "forced" by using a GM account to apply the effect in that area repeatedly. I condensed about ~2-4 months worth of terrain erosion into that 15 second clip. Edit: a quick before/after when I was working on it. This was roughly a week of erosion being live on the server: Before After

Have you ever said hello or o/ to another person in this game and be in a situation where that person doesn't acknowledge you? Maybe you pass them again later and do a o/ but still nothing? At this point you know they're doing actions like digging and building cause you can see event tab. Maybe you write it off and think "they must just not have local opened" or something. Later that day you 'really' want to complement them still and think "Why don't I just use the forums?" So you write a nice private message to them say what a nice deed they have. Months go by and never respond to your forum pm nor have they even viewed it in their inbox, it's 'not read yet.' You eventually just think well maybe they got sick in real life and are unable to sit at a PC and write a simple "Thanks" reply back to you. However you notice that's not the case as they are posting on forums and stuff still. If you're like me you check your logs and see if you did anything wrong to upset them, you found out you sold them something back in 2014 but the trade looks like it went well and they were happy. Confused you just ignore it and move on with life. One day your passing that deed again and it looks even better than before! You quickly remember that they kind of ignored you last time but you being a nice person decide to o/ and see if anything happens. Nothing. At this point you check on that private message you sent and it's still unread. Where am I getting with this true story? My question to people of Wurm, why do you do this? Everyone is always saying this is a good community but stuff like this really questions it. This scenario happens a lot more than you think. I have several friends who've also encountered this also. Most people don't o/ anymore or o/ back like they used to. The community is why I started and kept playing this game all these years, and it being near the holidays it would be nice if people could be more nice to each other. I really sense a extreme lack of it in general lately and it's extremely disheartening. Please share your stories, and keep drama to a minimum, don't use player names also. Thoughts on how to fix this? Can it be fixed? Let us know!

Sometimes you've driven your cart/horse straight through a wall, or things just aren't where they should be, and you need to completely relaunch the client. A simple command to forcefully disconnect and reconnect would make it a lot easier to deal with.

Just do what any peaceful minded individual does. If you're passing by and folks ignore you, they're probably not worth knowing. If they live in your local and ignore you, infest their home with crocs.

If you are outspoken and confrontational on these forums some people will hold that against you and shun you within the game in response. Then they collaborate with their friends expressing their negative opinion of you and some of them will treat you the same way without ever having any interactions with you. This is human nature and especially negatively focused people are prone to this type of response. Although I always try to treat people within the game with what I consider common courtesy if they respond in this manner for the reasons I described and then ignore me within the game it really doesn't bother me. Then I don't have anything to do with them either. I don't consider this as any loss since we are just not the personality types that get along. There is no way to please everyone especially when you are bold enough to criticize their point of view on these forums. You in particular can be confrontational at times so I would think that you should understand that this may be the result. Just be yourself and those like what you have to say will appreciate you for it. Don't try to conform yourself to their opinions of how you should be unless you find it beneficial to temper your own reactions at times so as not to be abusive or fall into a negative state of mind. "You see, you can't please everyone, so you got to please yourself" Sage lyrics to live by. =Ayes=

I play a lot on my TV from my couch. When I do, the text is very tiny and hard to read, so I often don't bother reading text, just play. This can cause me to appear to be ignoring people. I don't do it on purpose but it can really look that way.

puh... not sure if rude.. has not happened to me yet, people being people I guess and some have made good points here as to why it is as it is. I always wave back or say hello if I do notice it.. sometimes I tend to play besides work so I can miss things. But while you point out the great community, sure I do witness people being helpfull and all - I have helped out people when I was in a position to in the past as well - but personally I do feel pretty lonely. The community is so small that its really hard to make acquaintances or friends even, I guess this mainly happens in PVP as people there seem to me way more tight knit (which is cool). On Freedom, me being on Xanadu I hardly witness anyone in lokal... for sure not while I was living in the south and now that I moved to the north its pretty empty too - but thats Xanadu. In every other MMO I played I was in a good guild, we had voice coms so people could hang out or even play other games together or just chat... but in Wurm it seems (to me) super hard to find a group, let alone a good one. The last alliance I was a part of was basically a dead chat. ? Trying to get involved into GL or Freedom chats here and there but yea... not quite the same, specially when I look back at EverQuest, Vanguard or WoW. So I guess I ended up being the involuntary hermit that only talks to animals and the mobs that run into my sword. Yet I do really love Wurm a lot that even as this situation is for me, I do enjoy the game... it's one of the few games I played for years+.

I am not sure how the forums "Ignore User" works but it is possible it simply blocks incoming messages from that person, who only see it as "still unread" on their end. IE, they never knew you messaged them. It's always possible once upon a time, maybe even years and years ago, you said something in forum posts that they disliked and set you to ignore. I have occasionally had people rather blatantly ignore something I said in a forum post, and rather assumed that I have made a number of ingame+forum "Ignore" lists myself. For some, it might seem a lot less "toxic" than if they actually said exactly what they thought. I know most people claim to admire candid honesty, but that often is not as true as they like to think. "Candid honesty" has ended forever many a longtime friendship. Biting one's tongue (ie, saying nothing rather than something confrontational) is actually the epitome of courtesy in some circles, and we won't all have the same value system. Best response is just to shrug it off and not think about it any longer. You might have been set to ignore for something long long ago (ingame plus inforum) and they never even remember doing it now.

I will always answer to a 'hello .....' as it is polite to do so and I enjoy meeting fellow players in-game.. I answer to symbols less easily as I am not sure if it is fro me or someone else in their local whom I cannot 'see'. To me it would be like interrupting a private conversation. So, my suggestion would be to use text and name the person that you wish to talk to, congratulate or even moan about rather than symbols so that older people like me do not get confused!

Faeran and I (Griphyth) have arrived at Blackmoor and are excited to join in on the festivities. We apologize for such late notice but did not know whether we would make it until last night. If there are still rooms available, we would love to have one. We have a bunch of skills between us that can help imp. I’m just going to list what I can contribute. Griphyth has blacksmithing, weapon smithing and plate armor smithing. I also brought a bit of favor and my vyn (94 channelling) as well for casting if there is help needed there. Looking forward to the fun! Edit: Is there a sermon being organized? If so I would like to join in with my priest.

I suggest the kingdom title equivalent of Court Smith actually help improvement rates so that kingdom smith toon can imp gear to pvp standards at faster rate. I am not sure what % increase in imping would be appropriate, but remember most PMKs have a single shared smithing account that handles most of the kingdom smithing gear demand. Would be nice to see the title help improvement rates a substantial amount. DA

While comments on value / pricing are ok (to a point) in auction threads, other issues are better explored elsewhere. There are better places to explore what you think of how the bone was obtained. Pandalet (Assistant Lead Forum Moderator)

I've taken the action of removing every non bid post on this thread pending review by the forum moderation team. In the meantime, I suggest keeping your comments about how this was obtained or whether the unique system is fair or balanced or anything else in another thread. I quite like what Sindusk described. (I feel like I'm repeating myself... just said the same thing in another suggestion thread) As long as there is an option to prevent it from happening. Pave the sides, for example. Eventually the pavement will disappear so something that has long been abandoned will be subject to this erosion, while spires that see active use remain unaffected. Making your "permanent" mark on the landscape is a stretchable concept anyway. At any point a player could come along and change it. Sacrificing this aspect, which only works depending on your definition of "permanent" is a small price to pay for the ability to actually move around in certain areas in my opinion.

Can confirm, if you get ignored they won't see your messages. But even if you message in chats they, the ignored can still read the messages you write ( just not the opposite). Very odd imo.

Unfortunately, the community has many toxic folks, who like nothing more than to stir poop. I generally don't talk to people I don't have at least some connection with (e.g. having actually seen around a lot), as it's easier. Just because someone chooses not to respond to you, doesn't mean it's a problem - some folks just prefer not to. Also, the 'not read yet' forum PM thing is misleading at best, and plain wrong a lot of the time. You can easily have read the message, but still see that. Don't take it as gospel.

Sometimes i've had people talk in local as they sail past that i've accidentally ignored (tabbed out or different chat open at the time) but i've never ignored a forum message. I do get ya though, the amount of times i've talked to people and just get blanked has me questioning how many ignore lists i'm on (local, gl chat, freedom, even trade)

Something I've seen stay constant through the years whenever I've made a new alt, everyone starts with exactly 0 sleep bonus. For someone like me making an alt, if I wanted to grind it for some reason that's fine, I have a billion beds and sleep powder falling out of every pocket, ignoring the fact that I have multiple already skilled accounts and an alt is just a secondary casual thing. For an actual new player, it's not so convenient. Yes, they can make a bed, they will have to no matter what, but beds are difficult to make for a new player. Sure, they can go buy stuff or hope someone is nice enough to donate, but that isn't very noob friendly. Sure, they can go "join a village and get everything handed to them", but this isn't what we should expect a sandbox game to be. They can go premium and get 2 sleep powder yes, but they have to make it to the point they like the game and want to pay for premium. That's also only if they pay through the shop, if they earned silver to get prem, well they're out of luck on sleep powder there. So if every new account f2p right off the bat started with anywhere from 1-5 hours of sleep bonus, it will help them start up and get past the first trial of if they enjoy the game or not, so it's a nice little bonus for qol and player retention while having no actual negative impact on anyone else, or anyone at all really. Personally I wouldn't care if someone got 20 blacksmithing a little faster, or 21 body control a few days sooner

Very good idea as this would motivate anyone to *complete* the tutorial. Then they should receive a full 5hrs sleep bonus. Good also to have some notation about what it is when they receive it. =Ayes=

Meditation skill is, however, much easier to gain on Epic. Note that if you have 70 med skill on Freedom, your effective becomes 90+ on Epic, and that now counts as your med skill for questions.
  35. 1 point
Meditation paths are completely separate freedom vs epic and do not affect each other Meditation skill gained on freedom transfers 1:1 to epic and remains untouched on freedom Meditation skill gained on epic is wasted and stuck there and only there

As it is in each kingdom there are a limited (3) number of champions at any time. There are a handful of people that don't want to champ because of the inevitable stat loss at high levels. There are also those that do champ but are too afraid to go into risky situations (generate more interesting pvp) while champ, lest they lose their lives too early and take a stat loss in less than 6 months. If you made the stat loss less punishing (make it 3x less painful to regain and make your gains while being champ undiminished by your temporary higher skill level), some of the people in the group unwilling to champ would be more willing to champ up with a less punishing stat loss. Additionally, those who are champing will take more risks because dechamping early doesn't suck as much. This would generate more champs taking risks. More risks = more interesting pvp. That is one perspective. If you believe perma-death champs were the greatest thing ever, then none of this suggestion will favor your thinking. On the other hand. If you believe champs should take more risky fights, and commit to the death more often, this suggestion will be slightly more favorable to your thinking. (this post is not aimed at any response yet, it is just further discussion on the idea with the consideration of some possible outcomes in context of present conditions) DA

I also suggest making it affect all improvement rates, not just smithing. That may be a different suggestion though.

Can't find any mention of it being ask so here goes Is there any improvement being made on the totally random cast power even with high Channeling? I find it ridiculous that a 90 channeling priest having a hard time to cast 80+ power casts consistently sometimes it takes me 10 casts to improve on a 40 or 50 str cast.

I do hope that we'll see Fo buffed a bit before this comes out! So far, among priests, we've been nerfed pretty hard! As a PvE priest, Nahjo outshines Fo in almost every way, this needs redress, unless you wish the priest overhaul to have a negligable impact on the number of priest alts...

Wurm Online Shop, Use Xsolla payment option not PayPal, 100 silver coins = $130.42 US Dollars, cheaper than PayPal, no currency transaction fee and can pay with various credit, debit, cash cards and gift cards. Usually players want 100 Euros which equals $113.00 US (bank rate). Then using PayPal they will add on a handling fee and currency conversion fee. So at the above rate with Xsolla you are not even paying that much more. Much faster too than fiddling around purchasing from other players. Support the game not players pockets. =Ayes=

I've spent so much time thinking about this and I believe I have an answer. It's a desire to create something absurd and funny. Decorating with corpses, funny item names, things that shouldn't be possible. I'm always trying to find something to outdo the last thing I did. My deed is basically a shrine dedicated to this concept. There's always something silly happening and I always have a picture to share. This is the front view of the workshop. Even stranger things lie within but I believe the less said about it, the better. I made an album of what I do in Wurm. I think it explains what I do better than I could. https://imgur.com/a/2ZnhYQN

I can understand the feeling of being overly moderated but there's something important you have to remember here. Just because it's a PvP section does not mean forum rules don't apply. Ingame, PvP is loosely moderated because a certain amount of smack talk is to be expected, it's fighting, tempers are raised and things happen, we still draw the line at real life insults. The same goes on the forums. Recently we've had a rise in the number of people claiming real life is being referenced in insults, and the accusations that this is fake information purely designed to get someone banned which is frankly disappointing behaviour on both sides. Being PvP does not mean you all have immunity from forum rules, and just because you lose a fight ingame does not mean you should resort to getting someone else moderated or banned on the forums or from Discord. Usually what happens is a post breaking the rules is posted, and a half dozen comments reference it. this means when the violating post is removed, the comments referencing it are cleaned up as well. That's why usually half a page disappears. If you wish to have less posts removed, follow the simple rules. Different teams, I'm not sure the forum moderation team would do well standing around ingame. Seriously, Firestarters nickname is hatstand

Honestly before taking on a new big 'End Game' type project ( rifts or whatever ) I'd like to see old issues fixed completed and looked at. PvP - Way to many issues that folks are talking about, not to mention Epic cluster. Balance of priest and meditation ( also being currently looked at ) UI ( in the works now ) Retention of just fresh new players, how to introduce them to the game and keep them playing After the current and old projects are completed, then would be a good time to say 'Ok, now what?' Somethings i'd personally like to see, new champion animal types, crabs, turtles, heck even sheep lol. New mini uniques like a Crap Boss, Wolf, Dog ( please no tomes or dragon blood type crap off these ) New uses for the tree types or even bushes. New Animal traits that give benifits and the bad traits make more sense ( unhealthy gives less meat or hide or whatever on butchering ) But in my opinion, End Game to me means, I log on, go raid for 5 hours, then log off for the rest of the week. for me If i wanted to go do that i'd log onto warcraft ( or any other handful of games ) Wurm is about hard work, creating something from nothing, taking days, weeks, months, years to complete, then standing back and going 'Dam I did that.' not standing around 40 other folks waiting for some boss to spawn.
