    None of that does anything to make Wurm a better game for 95 percent of players. It's only meant to make the game more profitable for 5% of players. As always, the ONLY ones to benefit are a tiny minority of the top skilled crafter characters, a very large number of whom never even earned those skills themselves but instead purchased characters for the sole purpose of making money off the other 95%. The game is an "economic game" for them, because for them that aspect of the game is the most fun. You invest, you profit. I get that. It's too bad those days were already doomed ten years ago. Wurm's economy is based on a broken model, and ruining the game in order to "fix it" for 5% is worse than no fix at all. In fact, the very smartest thing Wurm devs can do, is NOT to try to fix something broken beyond repair, and instead try to make Wurm a much better game for the 95% who do not consider the "game economy" to be it's most compelling feature. The game economy will always be there, it is not ever going away. Some will always make very good incomes off it, and in fact even make real life profits. It is also not going to "get better" by improving ways to move yet more real life money from the majority of players, to the top moneymaker toons. Instead, work on UI, tutorials, game polish, community interactions, combat & pvp, and after all of that is done, only then work on advertising. Not trying to increase populations simply in order to increase profits for some, but to make the game a more enjoyable experience for everyone. Larger populations will help crafter characters too, but that's not the primary reason we need larger populations.

    Currently, archaeology journals are limited to 22 reports. I quite enjoy doing archaeology myself, and on the pristine server alone I've filled 7 journals during my expeditions. I'm actually making an 8th today so I can go back out for fragments, because there are many places I haven't visited yet. But because I have so many journals and they hold so few reports when I stop by an area I've been before but can't remember what the deed names were I end up dragging all 7 journals out so that I don't end up with a copy of a report I've already finished. This is starting to become a heavy hobby not counting the fragments as I pick those up. My suggestion is that we be allowed to put 100 reports in a journal, 100 is a common number to go into any container and after all the papers are only 0.01kg. I do understand if this as seen as too much, so at the least could we please put at least 50 in a journal? At least half the weight in the above picture is the journals themselves, not even taking the reports into account.

    I would like to request that for animals with the baby stage, an age minimum on breeding gets removed. A young horse is the "adult" version of the horse, whereas a foal is the immature stage, so it makes no sense to wait till the "adult" version reaches adolescence.

    Proposed simple quality of life fix: Give the option to toggle certain bonuses being displayed on the buffs icon bar: For Example Toggle Sorcery Icons Toggle Shoulder Pad Icons Toggle Combat Spell Debuffs etc Why? When you stack up sorcery tomes it is no doubt really annoying to have 4-5 + rows of icons cluttering the screen, making it more customisable will be great for quality of life, and to make it less annoying to stare at, especially if you are PvPing and do not really want to see all the sorcery icons stacked up all the time. The spell effects bar is not great for using either in combat specifically, staring at text means you aren't focusing on other important tasks, and although wurm assistant is used to detect spells it is easier to see what is going on if you have your own customisable GUI personalised to how you want it for any task.

    I have made this suggestion before: have actual deeds on Golden Valley where new players can join to learn more from a mentor. Right now if you log into the game as a new player chances are you will not see any activity or anyone in local for that matter and if you do they are just as clueless as to what's going on. If there were actual villages in local of the tutorial there is a much higher chance they will see activity, hear stuff being done, ask questions, and engage. The tutorial in its current form is a disaster. It should be the highest priority of the development staff if they truly want the wurm to thrive. Do they want Wurm to grow is the question that needs to be answered, I have yet to see any indication that they do in the 5+ years I have been playing. The tutorial has actually gotten worse since I started. A billion pop-ups now and no interaction = delete this dumb game.

    To add to this, allow those who are willing to reach out to players in this fashion the ability to make a new account on the tutorial, and "teleport" to the zones in the tutorial. Someone having trouble with the barrel items? *teleport* "here let me show you"

    If you seriously want to improve the economy spend some time on the tutorial server and welcome those brave enough to try Wurm for the first time. It doesn't cost you a thing and the devs don't have to make anymore unnecessary changes to the game that will further alienate the dwindling playbase. Make an alt and be an ambassador to game.

    I agree, the paper to cover ratio is rather silly. A small way to alleviate the pain of duplicate reports would be a merging feature (Merge into journal -> Add info to a report of the same deed and consume the report, or return with "No matching report in journal"). In the very least, this way you could go out with one blank journal and merge all the info into a stack of journals at home, unless you rely on them to find the deeds. I actually had this and some other ideas for reports floating around, might post about it later. Anyway, +1 to a 50 entries journal, seems still reasonable to me.

    foal stage is seperate, won't impact that at all being able to ride a newborn isnt really qol, there were plenty of discussions around it, and its impact, but the benefits of hell horses and unicorns arent "you can ride them as soon as they are born", PvP servers also have increased aging speeds of foals, so we don't expect any issues with that

    Hello everyone We have opened a brand new server on the 18th December 2016, our website is at https://mystichighlands.comServer Info -Mystic Highlands is the name of the server, it is PvE and on a payed for dedicated server located at Pingperfect, the map is a new custom map which we created and I must say, is gorgeous.It is 4096x4096, with a nice start town (which is what we are working on at the moment).It is a Roleplay server, so anything said in local is to be kept as roleplay.Skills x1 and Actions x1. (So people need each other, makes for good trading).Nice dirt depth for those keen terraformers !More like a Vanilla Wurm server....Characteristics all start at 19.5 (so you need to earn the right to ride a cart and ride horses)All other skills start at 1.0.Starting Gear is set at 10ql, Sword, Shield and Armour. (Allows people to start earning coin from making better items earlier on).Deeds are NOT free and there is upkeep on them, (but there are lots of ways to earn money on Mystic Highlands, few days and people will have enough coins).The entire starter deed is built (still being finished) now by hand by 3 of us, no GM intervention.If anyone has any questions, we would be happy to answer them either on our stream or here on this discussion.Thanks for taking the time to read.     *update* its mostly done now, I have a few sections that need a few more plants and I need to get more lighting in. One thing I've always loved about Wurm Online is Forestry.. trees and bushes add so much character to Wurm. I've been around for 8+ years now and have received help from many. In an effort of paying it forward, I have made a public arboretum called "Briar Patch", a place were folks can come to work on their nature skills - gathering sprouts, harvesting the fruits, foraging, botanizing, archaeology, etc. So far, I have the following planted: 525 Maple 432 Grape 220 Orange 240 Apple 240 Lemon 240 Cherry 168 Raspberry 168 Blueberry 120 Rose 120 Carmela 120 Lavender (plus more as decoration) 120 Oleander Added: 165 Olive 165 Hazelnut 150 Chestnut 165 Linden 165 Walnut 135 Pine 135 Cedar I currently have 2 altars up - Vynora and Nahjo. I want to get altars made for the rest of the dieties. There's 2 guard towers on the premises for protection. I'm located south of Black Dog Island, just south of the old Sutherland Shire, on my old deed - Location So.. if you are need of sprouts or fruit, feel free to stop by. As I stated, there's no charge, but if you find my arboretum helpful, I wouldn't complain if you tossed a coin in the token to help with upkeep

    Not a bad idea, someone with a tutorial alt could get an alert when new players enters the zone then you could offer advice if they get stumped inside the tutorial rat maze while trying to figure out why they can't pick anything up inside the zone. New players need every advantage they can get to try and get them to stay and play.

    And that is another problem which OP didn't even touch, output of crafters. It is possible make all your own things, you can make things for your friends and you can make things for half of the server.

    You cast the spell using a staff made out of a star gem dont need the tome with you, when you use the book or whatever it consumes a charge from it then you have the spell permanently. just need the altar to use it can cast spell anywhere after, spell is infinite casts that cost karma (500-800 or something depending on spell). Each tome is 3 charges on freedom, so 3 people can get the spell permanently out of a single one. ones from winning missions on epic are 1 charge.

    For the first question: I consider myself primarily a "value trader" while I would love to be a day trader I cannot tie up 25k in the markets to actually participate in pattern trading unless I wanted to go to a brokerage that participates in T+0 trading. I hold things primarily day to day, while holding others for a long terms like Ford. I see a dip, on a company I like I buy, it goes up I sell. Second question: I think the markets are great right now in terms of how volatile it is, if you do not like that you won't have a great time. Chinese stocks are being heavily discounted like JD.com, Alibaba, and Sogou. I will buy these when trade talks go bad, then sell when people forgot about a week or two later. Auto stocks got a big boost from an agreement with Mexico, I assume much of the same on an actual NAFTA replacement. My main concern lies in a possible large scale pullback, coming soon. But at that point we are all boned beyond the stock market.

    What about those of us who can't enable GLSL Support due to having to depend on older integrated (Intel) graphics for our only computer system? If you phase out the legacy renderer, it'd effectively force us to no longer be able to play Wurm Online. Though it may not be a majority of the players here, neither is it simply a handful who use older systems or laptops to play Wurm Online.

    Wurmians should age and eventually die. That way, there is a constant replacing of top-end accounts, which should (also) never be bought and sold in the first place. The only way to have a proper economy is to support the concepts of consumption, supply, and demand. Right now, characters are never "consumed" they are mostly just traded. Wurm's economy doesn't need the "bottom to drop out", it needs the "top to be lopped off"!

    I think they are referring to OP that locking items at some ql in order to use them will end impalongs, no items to imp no impalongs, maybe newbies will stand in line and wait for finished brand new 70 ql tools to be hand out to them. Now that doesn't sound much fun as current implalongs, does it? Anyway I don't think anyone mind fixing economy but the ways people propose to fix it which often propose introduction of lowering qol and tedious play style. This proposal will not help new players which was one of the arguments at all on contrary it will even make easier for rich people to get more rich. So we have discussions about economy almost every month and all are pointless and no good solutions comes out of it but the point of this thread is that OP proposal is bad in so many ways no matter how much arguments about economy you try to bring in.

    Lots of people don't play this game for the "market" they play for fun,friends and creativity,more probably play this style then merchants ,go ahead make it a traders game and see the number tumble so much there will be no one left to sell to.

    Hmm, I don't really see the need for this – in its current form it would be a lot more work for no real benefit over existing storage options. We already have the ability to make a cellar storage area laid out any way we like it. Just open a mine, carve out some space, reinforce, build a storehouse (if you want), and fill with virtually limitless containers. Not sure what the actual limit is, but using crate racks filled with large crates you could probably cram 50,000-100,000 (and maybe more?) shards into a single tile right now. I'd rather see specific storage bins, one limited to shards and another to logs. The first might hold, say, 2k shards and take twice as much mats/work to make as a bsb; and the log store unit might hold, say, 500 logs and take very little work to make, since logs really are pretty easy to stack and store irl. These specs would make both units more desirable storage options than what's currently available.
