Just gonna leave this here... [21:59:43] Farming increased by 0.000008 to 100.000000 Some facty stuff for anyone interested: I started this journey a long time ago, pretty much when I first started Wurm. This grind has taken about 4 years, and since 95 skill I've never not used sleep bonus or 95+ enchants. 99.99 was January 1st 2018. I've spent around a minimum of 4 hours a day on farming almost every day for I can't remember how long. Here's the last 10 ticks and time between them: I wanna just do a small thank you to @Stanlee and @nineolfor the enchants and support and without who I'd be practically clueless on how to properly grind skills. To @Pandaletfor having my back from the start of my wurm life and giving me a place to call home. To @Snowtechfor his ToolAdvice app for making grinding that little bit easier. To anyone who's ever bought crops from me to fund my farm's upkeep, sold or traded sleep powders to me and to all my alliance mates on Release for making grinding enjoyable! Couldn't have done it without y'all. [22:05:48] Your title is now Feisty Pumpkin King.

Interesting thread. Brings up a lot of really interesting points. I'll try my best poking at issues that I believe I can touch on. Yikes. That's a rough one. So after reading this, I decided to do a bit of digging on Wyvern, the long-lasting Wurm Unlimited server with over 700,000 player hours played. Fun fact: there was someone who achieved 99.9999966521108 fishing skill! I decided to look up his achievements and found that he had caught 17,521 fish to achieve that (faster skill gain server, by the way). However, I then looked up the achievement for catching the big fish. Not to be found. In 17,500 fish, not a single one was over 175kg. His magic chest had 99.9QL and higher quality fish. It had rares over 95QL. It was quite a spectacle of fishing, but through the whole time, not a single fish was 175kg or higher. So, I dug a little deeper. I tried to figure out why this might be the case. The truth is that the fish must be a marlin or white shark of over 87.5QL in order to qualify for the achievement. This isn't easy to do, but it's still possible. However, now that I've fully investigated why that happens, perhaps it might be time to change the qualifications to be a little bit more relaxed. Obtaining such a high QL fish of such a specific type seems a bit overboard. Bugfixes are near and dear to me. In all my time playing, being interrupted by hitting a bug was some of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had in Wurm. In the case of PvP, it can cost you everything. They need to be addressed in a timely manner and I'm doing my best to ensure that happens. In the cases where they are not addressed, I try and give the explanation as to why it's so difficult to fix instead. PvP is a wild project to tackle. There's so many viewpoints on how PvP should be played and what should/shouldn't be allowed that it's really hard to iron out what PvP should actually look like. That said, I've had productive conversations with a lot of existing and former PvP players, and a plan is in place that should put us on track for PvP becoming easier to create and maintain. Can't really go into detail on the specifics yet, but there are indeed plans. A lot of the mentality for PvP players being so hostile tends to stem from the stakes. A death can be extremely costly, and that creates a pattern of behaviour similar to a blowfish where they puff up and make themselves look dangerous. In the case of the blowfish, it looks a little weird and is effective. In the case of human beings chatting online, it makes them looks like jerks. Reducing the stakes and giving more reason to play at low risk is something I'm working towards. While having expensive stuff should give you a significant upper hand, it shouldn't invalidate the rest of the players entirely. I've watched Deathangel's videos recently and really enjoy the amount of respectful combat that's seen there. Working towards encouraging more of that is a personal goal I've set. No comment on personal goals. A lot of this is the byproduct of shifting times and a code base that wasn't built for long-term maintenance. Ideas sometimes sound bad (or impossible) when first proposed. As time goes on, it starts to become more and more apparent that it's necessary to fix whatever the problem is. Work gets done to make it happen, and the change comes through despite all the previous opposition against it. For example, the armour changes recently were actually tooled as a "hot toggle" of sorts, where they can be turned off and on without a server restart. We now have the option, due to the code refactor, to implement more toggles like that and create changes that can be implemented to live with far less risk if something we didn't predict begins to happen. This type of long-term thinking will make it much easier to adjust how things work in the future. All of my work follows this guideline and is aimed at making it as flexible as possible to adjust to the new atmosphere as the game evolves. I understand the concerns behind map resets and legacy items. I'm unsure as to the philosophy on those items (I only joined recently, after all). Someone else would have to touch on that point. I once got hit with a filled boiling cauldron of water. I died instantly with 80QL glimmersteel plate. Good times. My comment above to whereami touches on player mentality. However, you mentioned time zones which has plagued me in the past. It's sometimes extremely impossible for European players have a difficult time handling an American assault because of the time zone difference. When Europeans' attack, the American players are generally at work and can at least do something, especially if they get off work quickly after the assault begins. In the reverse, however, the American group is attacking after midnight in European time, and the European group would need to make a choice between living a healthy life and getting some sleep or defending their deed from an attack. As an American player, I'm familiar with both sides of this and seen how it affects people. Europeans accused me of attacking at off times out of weakness, though we had all just eaten dinner and were at our peak time. I can't really think of anything off the top of my head that would be suitable to solve this problem. If you have any ideas, I urge you to post in the Suggestions & Ideas forum with whatever you can think of. I'd be interested to discuss potential solutions to the problem and, if all goes well, begin working on making it happen. My personal gripe So now it's my turn to answer the question at hand. What bothers me most about Wurm. It's not something specific, and it's not an idea either. It's a single system that has bothered me since I started playing, and I've actively made an absurd amount of changes to it including a full replacement for my WU server. Combat. The whole thing. I dislike the concept of CR as a whole. I dislike the amount of random elements during combat that you cannot control. I dislike the meta where 1/5th of the content in the game is considered viable for combat. I want to see more diversity in strategy and tactics beyond gate hopping and spamming heals & shield bash. I want to see special moves have an important place in combat both for PvE and PvP. I want to see mobs stronger than trolls on PvE servers, bridging the gap between trolls and uniques (allowing small hunting parties to be productive).

Zoranah@StarsHollow and I will be hosting the slaying on Saturday evening. When slain, every premium player in local will receive a small piece of black dragon hide and blood. Mixing Black Dragon blood with source salt will create an Oil of the armour smith. Skull, bone and meat etc will be rolled to slayers, the list will be taken from Niarja. As usual, please let me know alt names if possible. Location will be added Saturday morning.

I would love to have some non see through and more professional looking fences for as example making stables and such it could be using same textures as current wood walls, just cut in half and with a dark top border to close it up ^^ and it would be perfect with an equally high and smaller gate (like the low roundpole fence gate)

Yes, it should. You can't drop rock shards to raise the rock layer in order to fix it.

put the command to enable it in your WurmLauncher\PlayerFiles\players\<charname>\autorun.txt - it will run every time you start the game

Filetting gives 50 but bulking gives 83 since filets are 0.5kg but bulk base weight is 0.3kg, so you have 512 marlin and 151 sharks. We didn't attempt until around 90 skill, as I said, you wouldn't try to imp a 90ql item from scratch with 70 skill. Other than that it was just a 90-95ql fine fishing rod with a glimmer skill level bonus rune that I have no idea if it does anything useful or not Yes, and yes it would. 70 with curve is 91 effective, which is the "around 90 skill" mentioned above. So either try with 90 skill on freedom or 70 on epic, or do 90 on epic for extra bonus. But again remember these were the older and harder 190kg goals, so with 90 actual/effective the 175kg goal should be much easier

Not a new or novel idea here but one that seems to have been overlooked or relegated to the past. The suggestion is that bulk bins be enabled to auto-sort the QL of items by 10 QL increments, such as 1+, 10+, 20+, 30+, 40+, 50+, 60+, 70+, 80+, 90+. Many WU servers have this option and it is quite helpful when dropping items of varying QL into bins so that the QL will all not combine, as well as reducing the need for so many bins just for the sake of varying QL mats. Players will no doubt still have a number of bins due to their total capacity but this option will make the more numerous smaller volume mats more central to a few bins. Also, if a priest casts *Bless* on a bin it removes (somehow) this sorting mechanism. Not really sure why this bin QL sorting has not been enabled for WO as well as it seems a very helpful feature to enable. =Ayes=

Copy name from friends list when they are offline. Would make life a little simpler when needing to mail things. But as of now, you may find yourself asking is that a capital "i" or a low "L".. ? when typing in the name before sending.

Smarter really, I agree! *Woodscraps* equals fun and freedom of expression in each to their own way, unless crudely abusive to others of course. Why attempt to stifle others creativity just because it doesn't appeal to your own sensibilities. Much in life borders on the absurd therefore to tread beyond into that direction lessens the seriousness of problems within everyday life, I find. This OP post in particular offers the prime opportunity to verge off into that direction, although I do find the temptation to clarify the situation to you very much a downer to that effect, if only momentarily. In this particular section of the forums I find the practicality of reasonable trains of thought to be anathema to the intended effect, which is just the opposite in my particular phrasing of contradictory thoughts. All in good fun of course, for me anyway. To tow the line to conform to anyone's personal desires in this respect is not about to happen with me, so I suggest that you just give your peculiar personal effronteries a rest and either enjoy the ride or step off the bus. =Ayes=

It's easy to have a burnout if you are not careful, didn't like when that hit me back then. ? Toxic people, you rub someone the wrong way (even if unintentionally or due not being part of the PvP crowd, a mere PvE centric suggestion can be enough for this) and they fling several trucks worth of ###### back at you and everyone you know. Even though thats mostly up to the community and not the game itself, I have seen it a lot more here than in other MMOs; maybe because the Wurm community is such a small bunch, idk - makes me sad most of the time anyhow and then I avoid any chat/forum/ etc. ? Xanadus lag... I did consider moving for a long time, but all the work I had already put into the deed... ?

I would rather see small new server that would serve as end content for pve, no deeding and unique mobs and resources rather than normal server. We have to much of them already which I imagine waste resources that could be directed to advertisement. But ofc shutting them while there is on player living on them is not an option...

The continuing dropping population that makes me question whether all the work I do on Wurm will end not because I want it to end (like when I quit other games) but because there will be no one else to do the work for or with.

The tight knit pvp community, some people may come off as toxic but ingame most of the times I played with a core group of people that were fun to play with, and is what made wurm fun more than any of the mechanics that existed. Buncha bored people drinking blabbering in teamspeak/ingame while we ran around the map or even just while on deed crafting or running in circles. I pretty much cannot play wurm alone, it's ridiculously boring

I got 90 on gary on epic where it's harder than freedom. I got 80 on mrgary on epic where it's harder than freedom, then got 80 again on freedom before the skill merge. I got several other alts to 70 on epic where it's harder than freedom, as well as any other 30 skill grass army alts. I personally consider myself well qualified to state that moving 10 tiles adds absolutely NOTHING to difficulty and is nothing more than an annoyance for the sake of being an annoyance. It's not even necessary for those people/alts that login, meditate, then log out for 30m/3hr, so why punish those that actually are playing? It adds nothing to the game, it's just a mind numbing chore. It's not just walking 10 tiles once for 10 seconds woo anyone can do that no, it's an extra random pointless 10 tile walk every single time you meditate for the 5-8+ times a day you meditate for the however many months in the year you grind. That adds up to a lot of time wasted when you could've spent that time actually playing the game, it's a part of an activity that discourages doing the activity. It's not even like removing the 10 tile action packed adventure will suddenly make everyone get 90 med faster either

Whether you like his price or not it’s none of your damned business what he asks or sells the toon for when they don’t post it as a PC.

I actually like having an aggregate bin of "cheap" materials, where "cheap" is something of my own definition. This is one major criticism to this idea, increments of 10QL do not neccessarily make sense for everyone, it's close to being a curve where intervals get small the higher the QL is, which also depends on your own highest quality you can produce. (Say, I can make strings of up to 85QL, then I'd want to save the 85QL strings for my high end imping, maybe some separate ~70-80QL and everything below is just general "cheap quality" for me, they can all be aggregated into one for all I care) I'm not opposed to it if we have a choice, but I don't understand why it has to be locked behind having a priest to cast bless available. Especially when the cast is required to make the bins go back to their current default behaviour. If anything, the cast should enable the additional mechanism. Actually, I'd spin this even further to address the first point(And this idea might also not be so novel but I haven't closely followed the discussion the last time this came up. But the above criticism stuck with me from that): Enable BSBs to have "inventory groups" that a player with sufficient permissions can add to the BSB and define ranges of quality to be sorted into that group. Otherwise, even if WO had sorting bulk storage bins with these 10-increments, I believe many people would just resort to still using multiple BSBs to differentiate in their high end qualities. This might be tricky codewise, though, so I can't say how feasible this is with what CCAB has on their plate right now.

This is not really making the game "less safe and secure". Deed owner can already bash every house on the deed, so if you think about it, all your stuff inside the house is not safe. Take down one wall and permissions don't work anymore. This given suggestion would just make the process, uh, more environment friendly.
