    Come one! Come all! This Saturday (Aug. 18) we, the Factional Fight brothers, invite you to the grand opening of the Puzzle Labyrinth for an adventure you wont soon forget! The gates will open approximately 7:30pm EST and the event will be streamed on our twitch channel while we stalk the participants while chatting about all things wurm! The labyrinth is located just minutes away from Vrock's Landing, and is attached to the highway system for your convenience. I hear tell that Retro is working on an easy transport system to get you to Vrock's so keep your ear open for that. For those who complete the labyrinth, you will be awarded a unique prize for you to take home and put on display at your deed! Check it out... If you do plan to come, don't forget to bring cotton as there are a few places you may feel the instinct to fall. Other things to consider bringing are a container for water and a lantern.     Being able to maintain moon metal items without using moon metal to imp seems like side effect that is a little bit owerpowered...

    Interesting idea. It has serious implications, however, for moon metals, less common high-quality/low-weight metals like silver and gold, alloys, and any medium to large items made from any of these metals. These runes would eliminate the need for high-ql raw mats; in the case of most non-iron items, runing till you get hammer, pelt, whetstone, or water as the sticky tool would become the default option when imping to high or very high quality. Metallurgy would become pretty useless as a skill - you'd need just enough low-ql alloy for creation, then pop a rune on the item and imp it up without any need for high-ql steel, bronze, electrum, etc. Such items would be much easier to make, as would high-ql moon metal items and high-ql gold and silver weapons, for example. So it would be no small change.

    Calico at night - Pristine - Joelle Well, the update beat me to the news this week, so we'll be recapping what went out (because that's what I had prepared!) and also touching a little on some big things in the near future! But first.. Patch Notes Armour updates Last nights update saw a bit of a change to how armours work together, with base DR rebalancing, and adjusting DR based on damage type. This helps improve the effectiveness of studded leather and chain, while also giving some love to plate, reducing the movement speed penalty. Don't forget the values listed in the patch notes are for iron specifically, meaning plate and chain gain extra DR benefits from other metals over studded. It's a change that increases the viability and surviveability of all armour types, meaning more choice, more work, and more fun. Sindusk has shared a snapshot of a calculator he built based on the epic armour code for his wurm unlimited server, bear in mind these are at 100ql values, so real results will vary! WU beta With this update out containing some fixes that needed to go in before we launched a WU beta, we can now begin work on a new beta with all the goodies from the past few updates! We'll also be including some special WU centric stuff to make server management a little easier, so stay tuned for that! Priesty stuff Today I spent part of the day zapping Budda, and copping some seriously heavy hits as part of internal testing of the priest and spell system. There's a huge amount of work in it, and the dev team have been hard at work on it, with bug fixes, tweaks and further balances expected to continue this week. After internal testing, we'll be providing details about whats changed and what to expect, along with the opportunity to jump on the test server and check it all out, find bugs, and all that fun stuff. But what would the fun of that be without some teasers? I snuck through some notes and gathered a little bit of intel to share ahead of the full release! Demise Rework There are two components to the new way demises work: Non-deity demises, and deity demises & protections. Animal’s Demise, Dragon’s Demise, Human’s Demise, and Selfhealer’s Demise are all remaining as weapon enchants. They will no longer grant increased accuracy and crit chance versus the targets. Instead, they will offer a small damage increase. Dragon’s Demise is being renamed to Legendary Demise and will affect all legendary (unique) creatures. Selfhealer’s Demise is being renamed to Monster’s Demise and will affect all monsters. These changes should open up more choices. While Dragon’s Demise previously overlapped with everything affected by Selfhealer’s Demise, these new demise changes do not have any conflicts and every target is only affected by one of the demises. The move from hit chance and critical strike towards damage increase was done to try and improve the clarity of the effect. While it was previously extremely difficult to know how much a Demise would increase your chance to hit, the new iteration will give an exact amount of power increase that can be easily understood and weighed against other options. Protections Deity demises and protections, such as Fo’s Demise and Libila’s Shielding, have all been reworked into jewelry enchants. These new jewelry enchants work around increasing and reducing damage from a certain damage type. Each deity will receive one offensive and one defensive enchant from these new spells. There is a built-in rivalry between Fo vs Libila, and Magranon vs Vynora. Fo: Increased Poison, Reduced Acid Magranon: Increased Fire, Reduced Frost Vynora: Increased Frost, Reduced Fire Libila: Increased Acid, Reduced Poison These new jewelry enchants all conflict with each other and Nolocate. Players on PvE will now be able to obtain meaningful benefits from wearing certain jewelry, and PvP players will have to make a choice between increased combat prowess and inability to be located. The change into jewelry enchants was done to combat the deity-specific spells being rather underwhelming and archaic. Jewelry enchants are a bit of a void, and this felt like the perfect opportunity to tackle two birds with one stone. We’re interested to see what type of combinations players are able to figure out in order to maximize their power. Puzzle labyrinth! The factional fight brothers are back, and have finished their long awaited labyrinth! I dropped in for a tour of it, and attempted to crack it, it's a maddening puzzle that just shows how awesome things can be created in this game, and I hope the brothers are extremely proud of what they've done! To celebrate it, we've joined with them to provide a unique prize for finishing it! I've asked them to write a little bit about it, and I'll provide a link to that post when it goes up!     Hi Everyone! it's time for another Wurmian eye for the starter deed... guy We're looking for players to form groups and submit design ideas for the Newspring starter deed, just like we've done for other towns. The layout is fairly simple, the deed is a set size of 41x41, and has a large perimeter, we're looking for a design that shows off what's possible in the game, as well as give it that community style for the island that truly belongs to the seals. We'll be taking entries for the next two weeks, then you will all have the opportunity to vote on which one you want to represent your little rock pizza with seal toppings. Entries will need to have a deedplanner file of the proposal, a few screenshots from deedplanner, and a little blurb detailing your proposal. You don't have to worry about materials, as we'll provide them all.     May need Retro to answer some of these questions as I am not 100% certain on some of them. I am 100% certain that the prize item is called Puzzle King's crystal ball. I also know that you will be able to obtain the prize once per character and it will be available as long as the labyrinth remains open, which is currently an indefinite amount of time. It is possible that it will close at some time in the far future, when we forget to pay upkeep ? I also know that the teleport to Vrock's is now available from the starter towns of Xanadu. It is possible that there are teleports from the other servers too...however, I do not know this for certain. I am not sure if you can bring your horse through the teleporter, though my guess is that you won't be able to. If not, the walk is not far from Vrock's and we believe that the walk will add to the experience.

    Its not on the wiki yet since it is a brand new item that no one has access to until the first person finishes the labyrinth. The taking of this picture was a result of a covert operation and many rebel members sacrificed their life to obtain it. Since then, the prize item has been renamed to the Puzzle King’s crystal ball as the goblin king wouldnt give us the rights? Everyone who completes the labyrinth will obtain one in a similar way as last years midsummer event prize.

    Looks like you access issues with the graphics.jar file Client can use it, it might be locked my another program, or something. May have to re-validate, if that does not work. Delete it and habve the client redownload it.

    I'm proposing adding a command or a list in your profile to add visible timers or a notification you can use to see when your meditation skills such as Refresh, Random TP, Recall Home etc. are ready to use again. More quality of life than anything else, think it would be nice to have a timer you could just look at to tell when these are ready to use again.

    Alright well if I think of anything else that might cause such an effect I'll be sure to post again - but that was my "best guess" at the moment. If you do figure out why it's happening yourself please do post here with the reasons/workarounds so that others who might be suffering a similar issue may benefit from the knowledge of how to make it work

    Silly things: Brass / Bronze diving suit. slower movement speed than plate & must stay within 3-4 tiles of a boat. You sink to the bottom and can do anything down there you normally could ( dig, mine, harvest ) but stamina only regens if you are within 3 or 4 tiles of your boat.

    Ah sorry, I missed that question. Yes, the new jewelry enchants affects all outgoing or incoming damage while equipped. That includes damage from Frostbrand and Flaming Aura. The protection versions will reduce all incoming damage of that type. For example, with fire protection, it will reduce fire damage whether it's from another player's Fireheart spell, Flaming Aura enchant, or even just a Hell Horse kicking you in the face.

    +1 to removing speed modifiers from armour and instead having stamina modifiers.

    The primary reason people didn't wear heavy armor all the time is largely missing from the game. If wearing the best armor doubled or tippled the stamina cost of every action you took (as a proxy for it being hot, uncomfortable and cumbersome) then everyone would be in little to no armor unless they expected a fight. But then again, in real life random animals are not homicidal maniacs that attack everything they see, so real people reasonably didn't expect combat at any second.

    Cloth is what you wear under actual armor, it's pretty much insulation. you wear it when you'd be naked otherwise, i swap from drake to cloth on my alts when i'm working around my deed, or climbing around mountains would otherwise be completely naked. Like many things in this game, if you compare stats and look for the best, 99% of things in the game are gonna be useless.

    Stacking identical jewelry applies with diminishing returns. Wearing two identical ones will incur a 33% penalty to both pieces (~133% effectiveness total), and wearing three will incur a 50% penalty to all pieces (150% effectiveness total). Swapping the jewelry out during combat is possible (and probably efficient). However, the maintenance required to do so and the significant penalties towards effectiveness when stacking should push players more towards various jewelry being equipped. Beyond that, the power of the enchant works similar to Nolocate, where it takes the average of the cast and QL of the jewelry. This means that players are going to want high quality jewelry in order to be the most efficient. Welcome, jewelry smiths. You're now relevant.

    To me as well but not in the way you and this self esteemed poster may realize at second glances through the spectacle of glasses. Behold the second coming of Mr Rodgers neighborhood through Rolf's reflection within the without! Indeed it is a beautiful day within the Wurm neighborhood, as anyone who dwells within it may distractedly see even if absent minded, which in many cases is no doubt undoubtful. That is not to say I don't doubt the point being made by Mr Psi guy but what can ya doodle. Now that that has been cleared up insufficiently on to other statements. Although I may accept your self inflicted diagnosis I must question the validity of your conclusion, for you see, or most likely don't, the result of our particular current consequences are the circumstantial evidence of this predicament of which it may not have been predetermined by inaccurate predictions, depending of course upon your predicates. Yet I certainly can see (without really seeing but reading) that you do not prefer the unpredictability of what has been in consequence to what might not but we all make those choices as to where we did not intend to end up, down or even sideways. As for the surrounding contents in which this statement snugly has ensconced itself, those I find myself enmeshed within so deeply that I can only make vague conjectures in reference to details too numerous of little consequence to comment upon further. Yet since I have already done so with insight plainly revealed to any who would care not to, then it is why I question why no further response is necessary. For you see we both agree upon that which we don't and yeah I miss the lack of a few meager crumbs of words from the former god of Wurm as well but you know what they say about wells. No? Well they can be either as shallow as a puddle or as deep as beyond comprehension as the molecules of water within them, which of course perfectly flows with the liquidity of my thoughtful responses. No need to thank me really since it's all within the neighborhoodeness of our Wurmanite associations, therefore I shall digress elsewhere where my helpfulness is less needed. Ah ha! This is most reassuring, as I had always suspected as much but not less because what you can't see is often known when you know it but may not be when you don't, or even won't. The thing I question about your statement though is that because Wurm has so many scenic wonders why would it be that Rolf has never been seen behind those scenes. This makes me think that perhaps there is the slightest possibility that maybe you are being just a tiny bit disingenuous with words of titanic importance as to their impertinence. Sure you are the PR guy but even then what is spelled out within the proper grammatical enunciations should clearly be obscure to the point where it may seem one way while actually being the other. Not that I am stating that the density of those wordy particles may be participles but if I/we don't know what we don't then maybe we shouldn't, so of course this makes some all the more determined to deter into those realms of deeper thought and consequences. Yep! This is the most convincing part of your statement indeed for without those cheques where would be the balances. Much higher of course since the depletion of funds even if for expenses of significant will still unbalance certain stabilities which may be close to the point of instability, as per example posts within this thread surely must indicate.     Is there any timeline or estimate of when this bug could be addressed? I've dyed a number of things white including my Knarr, which I'd rather not "re-dye" to a colour that is working if white will be fixed soon (not expecting immediate fix, just curious if I should consider re-dying if we're talking years not months)

    Over the months we've requested changes and updates and had debates about the details of these updates and scope of them. We've discussed as players from mixed kingdoms the top changes we'd like to see and the details of each and are presenting them here. This is posted for wider feed back and for all input including devs. Keep the threads clear from KvK talk, trolling, unrelated changes not yet listed and derailing. I know a lot of ideas / changes are wanted but make a new thread and try to stick on topic of each point These changes will not affect freedoms mechanics. Hota Removal and Battle camp Rework Remove hota and instead spawn statues that can only be loaded on a cart or wagon. Add more Battle camps and increase slightly the spawn rate of chests inside these zones, where anybody can get an increased chance to lock picking. Increase Battle camps anti-build zones to 1 local, spawn zone inside of this. Chests will also spawn outside of these camps but with higher difficulty to lockpicking, statues will spawn outside these zones. Bring back the purpose of the other 90% of the map instead of a end game zone. Possibility of bashing towers to force a spawn, making it harder for deeds to camp on edge of local. Tower Chaining Bring back tower chaining and stop random deeds dropping in middle of territory you wouldn't otherwise be. To avoid a reset of the map, current deeds not linked to a chain of towers will have increased upkeep until chained. Any new deeds being dropped can not be unless towers are already chained.= Horse Rework Only allow traited regular horses to be used on chaos. Disable mounting of hell horses and unicorns. We think this will help with front line deeds being lived in more and less ghost-war deeds. Also stops people dashing away from a 80 tile local on a 40 kmph horse. The traited regular horse with gear will be capped to 30. Alongside this we'd like to see an increased skill gain of hunting mobs on Chaos, you're moving slower, in more danger so this will incentive hunting on chaos. *Just make it so HH and Unicorns can't be mounted, they will still spawn Reduced local and Dynamics After numerous WU servers tested this, it's proven to increase the likely hood of fights and less of enemy getting away. We'd like to have a trial period and adjust accordingly with 30 days intervals. Local range is affected by weather, day and night with an indicator letting you know your tile range. day time: 60 tiles night time: 40 tiles bad weather: 40 tiles This can be played with. Cave view distance should be 25 from inside viewing outside. Epic Armour changes One of the most requested additions, nobody wants to risk drake for some pvp or to learn pvp, nobody wants to take plate and run into somebody in drake, epic armor changes were well balanced and will do wonder for the Chaos community and take huge risk away. Less risk but on a balanced playing field = more pvp generated. Wearing plate and dying 6 tiles off a mine hop to somebody in drake is not balance, running rings around people in chain because they can't make plate, is not balance. One shotting people in leather/studded leather is not balance, make all armour types viable like you have on Epic

    There’s some good ideas here and I wanted to pitch in my own opinion and thoughts on the feasibility of each one. These are just my opinion and I’m not making promises or setting deadlines. HotA Removal & Battle Camps This is probably the most technically challenging one. HotA isn’t something easily removed and replaced. This also shifts the dynamic of the PvP server dramatically. That’s not to say that it’s impossible or couldn’t be done, just making sure it’s understood that this would definitely be the most difficult of the suggestions to implement. That said, I do believe there needs to be some reason to roam. The battle camps are a good solution, but bring a concern where it’s likely a single, powerful kingdom would end up taking control over them and farm it just like the current implementation of HotA. Maybe I’m misunderstanding how the battle camps work, but that’s the first thing that comes to mind when the objective is in a static location. Tower Chaining Being able to place a tower wherever you want does seem rather unintuitive. The changes proposed make sense to me, but I also don’t have the background as to why the tower chaining system from a long time ago was removed. If someone could explain why that happened, I’d be far more onboard with this. Horse Rework Hell horses and Unicorns are likely to pose an issue to balance as long as they exist. Whether it’s because they’re stronger in combat, faster, or whatever, it’s a balance nightmare without standardizing them in some way. Disabling the ability to ride hell horses and unicorns seems like the least intrusive method to get mounted speeds back in line. Reduced Local I don’t even need logic for this one, WU servers have tested this as thoroughly as humanly possible and the result of reduced local is always the same: Better PvP. The idea for a dynamic range based on weather conditions and time of day makes it even more immersive. This also opens up opportunities for night assaults or using fog to your advantage. Really good stuff. Epic Armour Changes This one is touchy because of how it affects the Freedom market. Most of the demand for drake and scale comes from the PvP servers. Buffing the other armours too much will render drake and scale obsolete. If not the epic armour changes, I think there’s definitely some room for increasing the movement speed from non-dragon armour, as well as increasing the DR for leather/studded to stay viable.
