    With the new addition of books and a new journal for archaeology, I feel like this open up a whole new world of fun for wurmians to explore and catalog findings, including those not related to archaeology (archaeology journal) or botany (almanac). The starting point of this suggestion is that books should not decay when placed into a bookshelf. If more books are to be added and used, there should be a safe place to store them. Suggestions to come if we can safely collect our books into a library: A Bestiary - a comprehensive collection of information about animals in wurm, ranging from the small wild cat to the massive forest giant. Knowledge may be gathered by examining an animal with the bestiary (with an empty page in it) activated while it is alive, going based off of animal husbandry (or taming?) skill. It can reveal various interesting facts anywhere from it's preferred spawn range, diet, and other interesting behaviours like the love of chasing innocent newbies around. A second round of information can be taken of the corpse of the animal, with the amount of information based off of fighting skill. This could include it's rough fighting abilities, butchered products, etc. Would be super happy if this bestiary can include pictures like the almanac has. An Atlas - simple as is, add notes to your ingame map and use a filled pen to make a copy of the map with said notes onto a piece of paper to share with others, or to keep multiple interesting maps bound in books together. Fish Physiology - a collection of information recorded from the catches made while fishing. Same as with archaeology, when you catch a fish and have an empty report, it will try to add information to it. Based on fishing skill, this will give a description of your catch, including the maximum caught weight, minimum caught weight, and server of catch. This could tie in nicely with some simple renaming to make certain new fishes only found on certain servers; salmon in the north on independence, to lionfish down south on celebration. If possible, have these behave like the archaeology reports to help find back certain special fish tiles. I see lots more room for report books like this, but these were sitting in the top of my head today.

    It would also be nice to see an expansion of the inscription mechanic, including more characters per page in a book and more characters allowed. For instance, we can't use question marks.

    I don't want to be that guy who immediately after an (amazing) update guys to nitpick on the forums, but why can we not take reports out of the journal? It is quite possible with the almanac, so when I first read the patch notes I had hoped I could build myself a little library of journals, each of which summarize a specific location (like my neighbors old deed) or general areas I've been to using the insanity teleport - the catch here is that I don't know a priori where i'll be, obviously. And conventionally travelling archaeologist may not know what they'll find, too. So being able to transfer deed reports after the fact would be very handy here. I understand that unlike harvest reports, which are created "directly" and start as a loose report, deed reports are made automatically using the journal, so it might be an implementation limitation that loose deed reports cannot exist outside of a journal, but I'd be nice for managing them if we could drag them from one journal to another. Also, on a smaller note, adding blank reports to stock your journal up for your expedition is a bit of a clickfest, would be neat if we could just drag blank paper onto the journal instead of chewing through the context menu. That's a really small priority though, as said clickfest wouldn't occur very often and loading up 5 journals just now wasn't that bad, just worse than it felt it needed to be.

    So currently the Scale of Libila untames your pet when you drop it on the ground or in a container such as a cart. However, it is also bugged in that it untames your pet when you equip/unequip it. This has been the case for quite some time now and it is extremely annoying because it prevents you from switching to a 2h or a bow without your pet untaming. I suggest we get this fixed so it only untames when dropped, rather than every time it goes from your inventory to your body and vice versa. And for those of you who will say this is an intended feature, the following message is given when you pick up the Scale of Libila, which proves it is only meant to untame pets when dropped out of your inventory: [01:31:52] Also, when you drop the Scale of Libila, any pet you have will become enraged and lose its loyalty. I'll also note that the Crown of Might and Charm of Fo are affected by this issue, since they too have the ability to untame pets when dropped/equipped/unequipped, though this is not so much an issue with the Charm of Fo as it is not usually equipped.

    (So, nearly another year has gone by, and it has been slow going. Although the pictures may not seem like it, a lot of progress has been made on the deed. The beach has FINALLY been completed, along with the edges of the deed slope. The only area that needs to be completed now is the area by the mountain for our main house. For those of you who remember our old home, it will look the same, with some major additions around and behind it. The whole thing will overlook the rest of the deed for an amazing view. Our Cats have their own "Cat Houses" Our new Beach, complete with pet whale! The altars still show where the old temple used to stand. The nice, sloping south hillside, and the former location of my mine.... A different view of the beach. Hopefully, our next update will have the finished model of our home, workshops, and warehouse.     True. The best option to rectify this would to make it a community effort; for instance, the GM I mentioned who prompted me to do the texturing knows how to code, but not really texturing. They've told me a few times that I could make whatever models or textures I desire and if they know how to make it work, they would. For instance, they are looking into adding wooly pigs and possibly mountain/workhorses to the server, as well. If you don't know how to do it, start a community project. I'm positive someone out there would be willing to help, if you simply ask. Worst case scenario, I'm sure there are resources to learn the coding! (I personally did NOT know how to start texturing WU, but I just jumped in to learn and here I am.) I've heard IntelliJ Idea makes coding in Java a lot simpler. I'd also like to note that this thread is mostly about the process of making new textures for already existing models, mostly for the server I use but also as a kind of "guide" for others.

    Gotcha- yes that’s likely the picture was created/ staged to simply illustrate the text as best they could. I think the main clue if any is in the words, and perhaps the actual locations they mention- even if the pics don’t match.

    Hello all! As some of you may have noticed, there seems to be a slight.... lack of good resources on doing custom textures for Wurm aside from rather simple things like tabards, wagon covers and banners. I recently joined a fantastic server (but we aren't here to talk about that! Although if you want to know what I'm talking about, just check out the server "Requiem of Wurm") and was prompted by one of the head GM's to work on a texture for a creature after hearing I'd had experience doing custom texturing on my own... and I thought, "Sure! Shouldn't be too hard!" Little did I know that to properly and effectively make custom textures for WU, you'd need a small slew of tools to help along the way. For one, 7Zip to open RAR and zipped folders easily, but also an art program that can handle .psd files is extremely helpful and a 3D Model viewer so you don't have to pop the texture INTO your game and hunt down that one thing you changed, such as a bison or a custom mob that might be in your main server but not in your standalone testing server. After installing these, I thought I was all set to go! But no... its a bit more difficult than that. For one, when you open up a texture for a mob to edit it, you're greeted with something like this: Which, if you haven't done much texturing for 3D models other than something voxel based like Minecraft.... can be a bit overwhelming and confusing. Some parts are immediately obvious while others..... not so much. What part textures which piece of the model? Where are the "boundaries" of each piece? So, like anyone aspiring to learn anything on the internet.... I googled it. And I found.... nothing. Yep, nothing. Not a single template or guide or reference. Even on the forums here, I couldn't seem to find much aside from Code Club AB's announcement that people could do custom textures for tabards and kingdom banners and the like. So, I personally have set out on a quest of sorts to make templates to help other custom texture-er's figure out exactly what on Fo's green earth we're all looking at, but also to create a sort of "hub" for those who have the actual experience to help out us more troubled beginners. Welcome to Ciaru's Custom Texturing Templates! As an example for the rest of you viewing this, and as a starter for my own reference as well as my fellow Requiem server players, this is an example of which parts of the bison texture go to what part of the model. This is the template itself..... (Which has now been updated with more specific location info!) And these are what it looks like ON the 3D model. As you can see, my basic idea was this: color each different part a different color, and apply it to a model to see where each bit went, thus vastly simplifying and answering the question of what part goes where on the 3D model itself. Feel free to post your own color coded "templates" and provide links for those who may want to use them (I will credit you if you did it yourself!). As new things are posted, or as I template more models, I will update this post as quickly as I can.

    So, Awen and I have decided that because of the demand of 5 speed animals (Bison and Horses specifically) and some of the special animals we breed here, Astoria needed to change.     New Item: Affinity Catcher The Affinity Catcher can be used to "capture" and sell your affinities to other players or characters. You require a minimum of 3 total affinities in order to use an Affinity Catcher. To use the item, you must have it in your inventory and activated. Right-click on the skill in your skills window with the affinity you want to capture and use "Capture affinity" When this is done, assuming you meet the conditions to have the affinity captured, it will absorb the affinity from your character and place it in the catcher. The catcher will automatically rename to "captured X affinity" to signify that it contains the affinity. To redeem the affinity, simply activate and right click the captured affinity and select "Gain affinity" - the captured affinity will be consumed and you will obtain the affinity it had captured. Affinity Catchers are available at traders for 10 silver, and may also be obtained through other means. Skill Gain Adjustments Skill gain ticks are no longer static, and instead work off a function based on the result of the action. Failures will now award skill gain if they're close enough to being a success instead. Actions with difficulty close to your skill level now grant over double the standard skill gain ticks. Spam creation remains mostly unchanged since the difficulty of the actions was so low that the resulting powers is almost always close to maximum, resulting in very slight if any increased skill gain from before. Improving items that are extremely low below your skill level are also mostly unaffected for similar reasons. Improving items at a quality similar to your skill level will generally result in actions that give the new maximum skill tick. This change to skill gain adjusts the base gain and is multiplicative with all other factors including enchants, sleep bonus, and food affinities. The goal of these changes is to provide incentive for players to actually improve items near their skill level to gain the best skill ticks, without invalidating the spam creation method (if that's what you prefer to do). Achievement Leaderboards Newly Tracked Achievements - These ones are retroactive and will count actions before this patch. Vault Hunter - Pick a lock Another Mans Trash - Trash an item The Invisible Man - Successfully stealth Bulk Hoarder - Deposit a bulk item Maintenance - Repair a fence, floor, or wall Explorer - Move one tile Hedging Your Bets - Plant a hedge or flower bed One With The World - Meditate Mushroom Collector - Pick a mushroom Removed a vast amount of achievements which were "duplicates" that simply tracked multiple at a time. Renamed several achievements to be more fun. Fixed an issue where Total Affinities leaderboard was not counting single skills with multiple affinities. Miscellaneous Worg mounted speed and natural armour has been reduced slightly on Arena. Spirit Trolls now drop humanoid meat instead of insect meat. Disabled the updated combat polling for now while bugs are worked out.

    So its not balanced just because you want to cry that its dumb, and its dumb just because you said so, but anyone saying anything different than your perfect vision is mad? Arrogance much? Just because you fail to see how one tome giving positive dr and one tome giving negative dr is balanced doesn't mean it isn't. Just because you got mad at people winning the game on alts and then decided to do exactly what you complained about and got no good rewards doesn't mean the game should be changed in your favor. Keep putting in hard work and winning, exactly as others have done, maybe you'll get something that fits your perfect world. For the record, we've won a white cherry... twice. just as you've won two red cherries which tbh I had absolutely no idea you won two until you said so, and the white cherry is actually pure uselessness, water buff and disease weakness with a spell that is absolutely useless, 0.01 more damage on an enemy's weapon woohoo, it's crap, but you didn't see us crying on forums to bend the game to fit our needs, we sold one and went back to win more tomes I'd say good luck and have fun but maybe you'd get a third red cherry

    I'm sorry to kill your high hopes, but while everything is Enki's fault, those gravestones are marking the resting place of some zombies spawned last year, which first killed me and then have been killed by me and buried for eternal rememberance .. and unless Enki found them and decided they're perfect for his evil plans ..     New models and textures are something that's severely lacking in the Wurm Unlimited modding space. I don't think it's for lack of talent, but instead a lack of resources like this one which make modding more approachable. This is exactly what's needed to go further and open up more possibilities in WU modding. Thank you for doing this and I'm intrigued to see where this leads.

    Knowing Enki, I'd expect wordplay, like it's near a place that had "Foot" in the name, or under the foot of a colossus or something like that. I'm also wondering if the locations of the Random Enkounters, or their questions, are relevant clues.

    I've been sifting through the information so far and am ready to post what I believe is going on. This is just me with wild speculation, you may find better information. This is just what I think went on. Random Enkounters 2017 thread is made on September 30, 2017. If you take the first letter of each sentence, you find the secret message "SECRET MISSION HIDDEN WITHIN". Unfortunately, it is missed because nobody is looking for it. It is hidden in plain sight. I believe the message does not mean hidden within this thread but hidden within the game and later hidden on the Wurmpedia. On 13 October 2017‎, the Wurmpedia page for The Knights of Seris is created with the first chapter. Every 7 days, another chapter is added and the lore is complete on 1 December 2017. I believe a lot of the trivia in the random enkounters was pointing to the backstory of Wurm, perhaps in hopes people searching for it wound find the lore page. Here are some interesting lines from the Enkounters: 13 October 2017 - "Today's Random Enkounter is brought to you by the moon Jackal. (I'm watching you!)" - Always watching. 15 October 2017 - "Today's Enkounter is brought to you by Sol - Shining a light on you since 979 NT!" - An important date. 27 October 2017 - "By the NT calendar when did the Gateways to the new lands of Wurm open. He answered correctly! Could you?" - If you can't, you can look it up. 16 November 2017 - "The first challenge was to tell me how many moons were currently in Wurm. He passed that challenge with flying colors... with a little help from the wiki..." - It's all about the wiki. I believe the thread was trying to point people to looking at the wiki. That didn't work. Nobody saw the secret message or the lore page. It is kept hidden. April fools 2018. Enki creates the post and asks users to read carefully. Many eagle-eyed readers, myself included, would have noticed the random italicised letters in the post. A quick check reveals these letters spell out "APRIL FOOLS". I'm sure everybody just assumed this was the reason we had to read carefully. It was not. Taking the first letter of sentence, you find the secret message "I HID SOMETHING WITHIN FIRST SECRET CLUE IN FORUM CAN YOU FIND THE TREASURE". I believe this one specifically references the forum so you would check Enkis post history and find the secret of the Random Enkounters. Anniversary rolls around and Enki has had enough. This has gone on for far too long. The users haven't found it. It's time to wake them up. The secret message of this thread directly references the Knights of Seris. The lore page is found within the hour. This is the quest. This is the secret mission. We have to find the treasure. But where do we even go from there? Golden Valley? Gateways? How do we even start the quest? I don't know. I'm quite fond of the ARG events in gaming communities. I love participating in these even though I'm not that good at it. I know somebody is going to find something which will immediately disprove everything that I've said. This is how this stuff goes. This is all the information that I have right now and I don't know where to go from here. I also know that people tend to go crazy and overanalyse everything. I'm just throwing out this information because it's important to not get caught up in the little details. I'm convinced the lore page is the key and we just need to figure out what to do with it.

People should want to grind to get it. "The" titles are nice, we really do not have a lot of them. Cndo [The Woodsman] but it doesn't make as much sense as Cndo the Sicko [The Woodsman] but I also know a lot of people hide mediation path.

    How come the decay rate on deed is this high, we do pay the deeds to be lesser from decay, and this is checked its lower outside in a wagon, a thing that need to looked over... First i thought i was a messed coding error but it has passed a irl week and same thing, PLS look into it.

    i have things inside house with 90+ days upkeep that taking alot of dmg, and i saw that test posion did aswell, but i dont know, atleast saying it perhaps do something, i cant run around on 2 servers and 2 deeds to repair all time, but atleast have a open eye here.

    Would be cool to see a deeper system with fishing, tackle for different fish, laying out cages and checking them the next day to see if crabs/lobster walked in, setting up Trawler nets and checking them after a few hours by boat. make it all permission based so people can't access it, get us out on boats a bit more. I think you can make fishing a lot more interesting without that much effort tbh

    Like most of the ideas here, adding my own Why do we not have fishing nets? We have big boats, and nets, but amazingly not allowed to use nets for fishing! Would love to see fishing baskets (make out of reeds) and other pve hunting traps as well, but that's just dreaming.
