Ever wondered what it would look like to set a table in Wurm with all the cutlery and dishes we have? Here ya go, thanks to the taxidermy mod for Wurm Unlimited :).

Once upon a time, there was a wee 1x1 tile house. And in that house was a small square table. And next to the table was a small stool. And next to that table and stool stood a very rigged-legged young Malena, whose feet ached since she would have loved to rest her feet and sit upon that stool, but could not. And her belly ached too, as she would have loved to set the table and eat some grub. Once in a while, Malena would prey to the gods, whispering under her breath for being able to some day sit at her little table and eat a civilized meal. However the gods were extremely busy, as building worlds is time consuming and tedious work... but once in a while they'd stop to listen to all of those little prayers being murmured by the vast and many mortals. And among those prayers they managed to hear Malena's soft voice as well. And in time, they granted her and all the folk of the land the ability bend their knees and plop their bottoms down on their thrones, benches and chairs. Oh what joy! What rejoicement! And they did hear the wishes to be able to set a table with plates, knives and forks, or to set down a potted flower or vase upon a marble table. They heard. And thus, the gods started devising a plan, but it would take some time and thought. MEANWHILE over in the land of unlimited possibilities, there is a hero of mine, a genius called bdew, who has made 2 new mods for Wurm Unlimited. A more recent one I didn't know about until yesterday... a mod to place items on tables. Yes... ITEMS ON TABLES. I'm so excited about this that I can hardly contain myself. ITEMS ON TABLES!!! The second one is a brand new mod to spawn any creature as a "decoration" and set which state it should be in: standing and alive and animated, dead or butchered. And thanks to these mods, I've been able to create this: Welcome to the Nujel'm Butcher! Our butchers use salt to preserve the freshness of the meat. Our pheasants have been hung for a week, to provide the most succulent meat! For the more adventurous connoisseur, try our pickled bladder, smoked bacon or fermented lard!

The problems that are trying to be solved by this change are this. 1. People from freedom coming to chaos and killing alts or friends for affinities then leaving back to freedom. Or people selling affinities. 2. People killing a character repeatedly to transfer all the affinities to a new character they just bought. Solution:- A. After being on a deathtab you have a 1 hour logoff timer and you also cant leave the server via boat or epic portal for that hour. B. Every player has a counter "Affinitiestolose" every week this counter increases by 1 up to a max of 5. On death if affinitiestolose is greater than zero they lose an affinity and affinitiestolose is decremented by 1. These two items stop both points 1 and 2 and allow all other pvp mechanics and rewards to be unchanged.

just add a decay to affinities, if you don't use them you lose them. but you can also gain new one's or retain some by doing those skills.

what in the hell was the logic behind making some kills not give affinities!? I literally can't figure it out...it's just a nerf without any reasoning why it needed nerfing o.o

Version 0.4 is out! I've implemented a permission system. Currently it works like that: All items you can place things on can now be planted/secured and locked. Only the owner - the one who placed or planted the item - can attach, remove or replace locks. If locked - only the owner and players with "may open" permission can interact with things placed on it, and place new things on. If not locked - village and house permissions can still limit taking, moving and some other interactions on items but new items can still be placed on by anyone. A player can always take or move around an item placed by himself, even if he doesn't have permissions anymore. Examining, tasting and emotes are always allowed. Download here: https://github.com/bdew-wurm/threedee/releases/tag/v0.4 I've went through quite a few iterations until i found something that's secure (i hope) and makes sense. Feedback is welcome. This versions is now considered a beta, and i'm going to deploy it on my own servers and let my players have a go at it. I expect a few small issues to still turn up but the mod should be mostly stable and functional. One big problem still remaining is that items placed on slopes look wonky when you place things on them. For now i have no solution for that... If it ever gets fixed it will likely involve an optional client mod.

I'd simply suggest to scrap the idea altogether and quit tampering with ###### that directly effects skill gain. You're creating more windows of opportunities that will inevitably make it harder for others to catch up. All that is needed to stop the abuse is a firm rule. It will stop most, and for those it doesn't, maybe a ban will get the message across. Imo, creating mechanics that punish honest players to fix a problem that could easily be solved by a ruling is detrimental to the game and its players. There already is a rule for it about champions, so why not just extend it to everyone?

2017 Has been a big year for Wurm, coming off the end of the 1.3 update, we weren't going to rest on our laurels, and had lots of plans and projects in the works, Wide tunnel entrances Before this year, tunnels could only be one tile wide, making those canals and tunnels quite narrow. This change introduced a whole new dynamic, and I've seen some amazing places built around these entrances. this update came early in the year and New wall textures One of the biggest housing updates this game has seen introduced six new wall materials, rounded stone, sandstone, slate, pottery brick, marble brick, and rendered walls. This opened up a lot more options in building, and deeds haven't looked the same since. Coming along slightly later were bridges in the new textures, as well as new floor paving with the materials too! The almanac Ah, the old days of "anyone know what;s in season?" Asked in global chat are no more. With a handy book, players were able to research and know to the exact day which fruits were in harvest and quickly became invaluable to all foresters out there (Mine, a gift from Alikin never leaves my inventory!) This update also saw the introduction of raspberry, blueberry and lingonberry bushes, which finally answers the question about where those berries come from when foraging! (Though the cocoa bean is still a mystery) Wurm cribs, underground edition In June, bridges were taken to the next level with major underground changes allowing bridges to be built in caves! That's not all though, this year saw the ability to clad reinforced walls and pave tiles underground, taking subterranean decorating to new highs (or is that lows?) The new client Long in the works, the unstable client finally launched as the full stable client, and Wurm has never looked better. With improved shading, lighting, options for improved performance and many other effects and changes, this client modernised Wurm in a way that lets us work towards the future in ways we had only hoped to see, and we're only just beginning... The highway system Getting lost got a lot harder with the introduction of the new highway system, stage 1 of the wagoner update. With players connecting deeds all over the server, a vast network began to form. Today you can find your path to any deed connected, regardless of distance (though I sometimes like to go off road for old times sake!) Random Enkounters One of the most fun additions this year has been Enki's random Enkounters, appearing across the Wurm world at random, pestering anyone in local with answers for his crossword puzzles, and rewarding the stunned players with random gifts. It's been a very entertaining addition and I'm keen on seeing more of it in 2018 (One day I might even get a turn!) Racks on racks on racks This year also saw ways to improve storage and inventory, with the small barrel rack, amphora rack, and wine barrel rack coming in 1.3, discussion started to move towards what else could be shoved in a rack. this brought about the crate rack, rack for empty bsbs, and the almighty bulk container unit. Despite storage space necessary in warehouses dropping massively, most wurmians just wound up stocking more in that space, you can never win... 1.6 The biggest update of the year landed early November, with the introduction of the wagoner, using the new highway system to deliver bulk goods and chat incessantly. Archaeology and restoration Adding not one, but two new skills to the game, this update brought in a way to find out more info about old deeds in your area, and find cool new statues and items too. Archaeology allowed players to explore their lands, and find who came before them, and how long they were around for (I've found several deeds founded at the launch of independence) with restoration focusing on piecing the fragments found back together, adding random enchants and runes if lucky! Epic proportions Epic also received major changes with this update, increasing skill-gain and faster actions, as well as skills transferring to freedom and vice versa, this really opened epic up came with the major Valrei overhaul, removing player gods from the board, adding awesome god fights, and rebuilding the mission system from the ground up The dust from 1.6 is still settling, and the new year will doubtless come with some tweaks and adjustments, but these additions have all been massive in their own individual right, adding them all in one update was a huge undertaking, and a lot of fun to see launch. Saddle(bag) up! Finishing up the year is one of the longest running suggestions, saddlebags! And not only that, the awesome saddle sacks as Christmas gifts came in too, meaning you can store things on your horse in style! And more... There's been a huge host of miscellaneous changes, including: blessed lamp functionality on highways. Unicorn gear. Hell horse colours. Siege weapon overhaul. Mining random slopes are now reduced by skills. Shrinking of olive and chestnut trees. Epic structures being freely built on freedom. Competition for three new tapestries (all awesome). Pendulums now find traitors. It's been a big year, and we've got even bigger plans for 2018, with work continuing on animal crates, returning wood textures, and lots lots more. Until then though, have a safe and happy new years, don't drink and drive carts, and as always, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.

IIRC Rolf messed up database completely where the premium info was stored.. Thats why some people don't get the rewards and some do. It was pointed out to him, that in past premium expiry warning emails he actually promised rewards. An example from past email: "Your next award is Achievement: Shined which will occur when you have 16 months of premium time since this program started (you currently have 14 since then). You will also be granted one yellow illusion potion with the quality level of 100 if you don't let your premium time run out. Those are fun!" Instead of fixing the database, the email was changed to: "If you're lucky you may also receive a reward for staying premium, like an item or a yellow potion. There's no guarantee but if you ask around you'll be informed about what the chances are." So, I guess we can consider that issue as "fixed"

A rule will not stop people from selling affinities, that is my whole argument from the beginning, this is a PVP server, the second you try to police what a real kill vs a fake kill is you are shooting yourself in the foot. Threaps suggestion does cover it a bit by stopping or making it much harder for those who just cross over the boarder kill and leave, now they are stuck like he said for an hour. But thats simple as well to get past, just hang out at landing or gold coast for a while and there is always down time to chaos and they can sail back off. So does it really stop the transfer? No it just makes it a tab bit harder and gives a bit more risk on their part. If a rule remains in place, (which Wurm was never a game to have stupid rules in pvp side) all that will happen is all affinity trades/sales/transfers will end up being through a black market, (look at all over games with hard rules against something) Again there is no way the gms policing who killed who and if its legit will be possible without them making personal decisions about it and can and will be wrong.. Look at all the random kills at times, there are people who play as Hots and also as Freedom and at times they are ran across and killed Look at wulfgars recent kill against a freedomer, If that kill was done by Ebo we wouldnt have heard the end of it from the cry babies on the server, meanwhile no one gives a rats arse about the kill he got even if it wasnt legit. Gm's are forced sometimes to make stupid decisions because of all the crying some people do. Part 2 of threaps suggestion only prolongs excessive affinities from being able to transfer, but again how does that stop all the once a month guys from coming over setting themselves up with things to do at either of the starter towns and happen to run up on a random kill? It doesnt. So stop complaining about stuff that has NO affect on you and just leave it be and police things yourself if you want to. You realize that using real alts generating and taking the affinity is really much worse then slaughtering a real toon to transfer already received affinities not being generated. Not only that also the actual skill loss involved where as a newb alt has noting to worry about its just a simple affinity generator. No suggestion so far from players has been balanced but only one sided. The devs suggestion at least adds a new level and a real risk of death for no reward other then the pvp aspect of it which actually affects sales/transfers of affinities of 2 of more affinities because of risk vs reward factored in. Thus the reason why i and many Ebo lean more towards the new system because it at least is attempting to remove the pure reward associated to affinities for kills. And i want to make one more thing clear, besides TC currently because of being the top group no other kingdom is affected as much and all other kingdoms dont play on chaos for reward of affinities, All other kingdoms who have been the bottom of the pile or just on the other end of tabs (vs TC) they haven't stayed on or came to chaos to fight because oh they will get affinities, all smaller group are on chaos because they want to be and because they want to pvp against some other opponent. So this crying about so many people look forward to the affinities gained is mainly just the upper class.

I don't PvP on Wurm, but I do find it amusing that people are saying PvP is about teamwork/team-play. Yeah, because people who want to kill each-other go out of their way to work and play well with others! There isn't any backstabbing ever. Nobody randomly steals anything 'just because I can'. /sarcasm To those saying you 'can't steal stuff on PvE', you've apparently not played PvE much, there is much worse stealing/thieving going on in supposedly 'protected' (By coding even) PVE servers, and there's even less recourse for people here when it happens. (If you've been around awhile, you've probably seen a few cases where they ruled in favor of a thief more times than should ever have happened.). I'm guessing you people associate stealing/thieving with a specific in-game mechanic, and not the real life definition when you make these types of comments... You're not going to succeed in 'luring'/'baiting'/'bait-and-switch'/'coercing' PvE players into playing PvP if they don't want to, because they simply choose not to, and that's their choice. It's not yours to make. I personally choose not to due to RL rage issues because I'm trying to lead a more 'zen' lifestyle nowadays. If the creators/devs ever 'flipped the switch' and made the PvE side PvP (Again)...I'd simply leave and never return. I got to witness plenty of unique drama over the 4 years I've played too. The 'best' part (I say this mockingly) was when the flotilla of Chaos people sailed clear across Xanadu (No choose server sail option at the time..) right after they hooked up the servers and killed one of the last remaining original uniques on Pristine. There was drama galore revolving around it because apparently our server folks showed up to take it on while they were mid-fight, and someone thought to cast a priest heal on the unique and it worked (They actually did a 'fix' so nobody could ever do it again...and ruled in favor of them/gave them the goods) and nearly wiped them out. That's PvP, according to my definition...which isn't even allowed on this game...especially when the staff 'get a say' in who gets goods and services. Yeah, sure, it's great when the staff actually play a game and care about it, but it's less fun when there's corruption involved, or someone 'in a position of power' abuses it. (I'm not pointing any fingers, just commenting on my personal observations regarding games...no need to remove another of my posts for commenting!) When I first saw that Rolf and other staff members actually played, and specifically played PvP, I couldn't help but wonder if they didn't use some kind of powers and you'd never know...you'd always wonder. That alone means I'd never touch PvP. I've heard about it happening in other situations. Power corrupts, absolutely. Who's to say it never happens? What's worse, is they then put in rules stating you couldn't even comment on things of the nature. That just makes me think it happened a few too many times and they wanted to silence any opposition to it... So yeah, I wouldn't touch this game's PvP with a 10 foot pole. Even if I wanted to enjoy losing all my gear or any of the other silliness like Token Draining of RL money or other rather badly thought out ideas they've rolled out over on those servers... To know there's some 'top end' accounts just roaming around trouncing people on top of all of that? No thanks...

It feels a bit awkward to write this but, I will no longer be able to maintain the mods I've published here, to keep it short. As far as my personal involvement goes with developing these, I'd like them to be considered as public domain (with all respects to the property of CodeClub AB), which most prominently includes the published works on https://github.com/dmon82?tab=repositories. There was also a Steam ID Ban mod that I've never gotten around to publish, but was asked to by the party involved and it was generally considered to be useful, as neither the WU server provides that functionality (why not btw? probably the same reason the broken launcher wasn't fixed in over two years (had to add a bit of salt )), nor a public mod. I'm sure that somebody or another might feel a slight hint of concern, and it's appreciated, or perhaps curiosity, but I'm not interested in elaborating. For anything regarding the mods, please feel free to contact me via E-Mail at d.mon at gmx dot net, and I'll try to be of help as best as I can muster. My best wishes to the community, and oddly enough, the members of the community who joined the development and support teams over the years, having to listen to my rants and others' salty words . And of course to Rolf Jansson, who's been a scapegoat for many a rant, curse, or target for outright rage and anger. Yet created and maintained a truly amazing and underappreciated game for years, with a passion and determination second to none. I'd wager that only few people know this, but a lot of them remember, that for a long time, Wurm was developed on top of a full-time job, having a family probably being a second one on top of that haha . WO and WU combined, I have a play time of more than one whole year, so... that's crazy, but I guess I'm also underappreciating it. Thank you for a great time! Ulvi~

That's absolutely correct which is why I wish PvP was more important to the Devs themselves here. PVP environments in Wurm have a level of community beyond that of PvE, which is derived from necessity. But look at it like this; Let's say your avatar ingame has 70s in all skills across the board. Why would you risk playing on a server where you can be killed repeatedly by not just players but extremely strong creatures that sometimes take multiple people to kill...? Why would you pay to build a deed that costs 10s a month in upkeep and another 35s to found, when someone can simply stroll along with a cata or a treb and wipe you off the map in an hour. Or better yet, why would I live on a PVP server and actively engage in fights for no reward? There has to be SOME rhyme or reason to play there, there has got to be SOME benefit above and beyond that of PVE to balance out the risk of playing on a PVP server with an appropriate reward for doing so. As it stands there currently is none, affinities are pathetic. And now those are going away too lol.

Slain Affinity Greetings twentyeighteenians of Wurm! In this new year we have a change coming for those of us who enjoy the PVP side of things. It is no secret that there are those abusing various alternate player avatars for meta-PVP fight skill, and there is also the issue of abuse pertaining to killing alternate player accounts purely for affinities, so called 'affinity farming'. Changes are coming that will counter that activity very soon with the upcoming updates to the game. The new system will introduce measures against extreme abuse as well as create a new way for players to gain affinities both on PvP and PvE servers. These changes are expected to come into the game by the end of January. Until those changes are enacted we will be watching for anyone orchestrating ‘meta-PVP’ slayings for fight skill and affinity farming. Anyone found to be doing this vile ‘meta-PVP’ activity shall be banned! We have never been too thrilled with the ways a few people find to ‘game’ the system such as making deals with people to farm them for their affinities, or using VPN’s or proxies to the same ends. If it is not genuine PVP activity then do not expect us to look on it very fondly. As I said above, anyone working these kinds of ‘meta-PVP’ schemes for fightskill and affinity farming will be immediately banned from Wurm Online. Thank You, Wurm Online Team

As the title says. This is a standing offer, meaning I'll be interested in however much you have to sell. COD item(s) to Shrimpiie Rares: 10c Supremes: 20c I will add what I am looking for to the list best I can but there is likely more I can't think of currently, so PM or post here if what you have isn't on the list. Any prepared versions of things such as ground, chopped, diced, ect are entirely OK and are valued at the same price as their unprepared counterparts. Note I have added "meals" to the no category as I recently got a massive influx of them and due to space constraints I am halting purchasing of them. IMPORTANT: Please ensure the item(usually bulk type items) are full weight. For instance a .08kg rare clay is not something I would buy, but the full weight 2kg rare clay is. IMPORTANT: Please ensure to smelt ORES to LUMPS before you send them to me, it is a hassle on my end. If what you have is on the YES list, then just mail it to me for the above listed price, no questions asked. NO YES

How about removing decay off hand Lanterns when in inventory? Having to reimp my Lanterns back up to 86 QL every few months to get decent light around you at night is becoming a painful chore. Even better, bring in Furl Sails, Set Sails speed toggle for boats and ships, so those of us with nice fancy harbours can moor our vessels along side the wharf or pier, instead of ending up embedded thur a fence into the place next door. edit.. here's the like for those who wish to support it... Food for thought! Cheers! Hughmongus

As a guy with little to gain except by proxy leaving the affinity system as it was but with stringent measures towards obvious abuse (its not like its such a huge community that we dont know who owns what) is the sensible approach. I'm not against giving freedom a way of gaining affinities either. So I'd personally urge the dev team to find the middle ground.

+1 this. Great idea. This idea allows Chaos to police themselves against affinity sellers. If you come to Chaos to farm an affinity, now you can't leave. You'll be located and that affinity you gained will be taken off you. It stops affinity sales dead on its tracks. The second one is great for stopping someone from cleaning the affinities off someone like Ebo just did. Its a great way to stop over 90% of the affinity farming issues we have encountered. The 10% left over (such as someone kiling their ocassional alt here and there) is not worth worrying over.

How to get rid of the playerbase 101, both PvP'ers, and people who've spent good money on buying affinities in PvE. Should we also revert everyone's shield skills to 0 because shields were changed? Maybe we shouldn't touch things that directly influence skillgain so absent mindedly instead.

wurm pvp in some peoples minds is apparently everyone just runs into a circle and stands there mashing the spacebar frothing to see who dies first and trying to steal their things and you can't convince them otherwise and it's pretty obvious by the 500000 times this has been disputed

I don't think a lot of people are interested in spending a few hundred dollars to get a pvp account with the appropriate meditation skills. 200-300€ can get a person plenty of interesting pvp games. I also don't think the idea of waiting months to have the appropriate meditation skill to be a good fighter is fun as well.
