The Roman Republic will donate any hota statues you need to recreate this monument. Just send me a PM and we can organise a time and place for you to pick up. Let me know what type and how many you need.

While I'm sure not everyone will be interested in the goings on of PvP servers such as Serenity, it is with heavy heard, and not a little sadness that I found today that all the HOTA statues left in memory of a Wurm player who was well known and respected on Serenity have been removed by another kingdom. The Paultrw Memorial has stood just north of Strongbox for quite some time now, in memory and respect of Paultrw, Wurm player, JK and all round nice guy, who passed a few years ago. Now I know very well who visited the area recently, And those who took these tokens of respect and memory also know who they are, given the number of statues taken, it could only have been a group, and given that all statues were planted, it could only have been an enemy kingdom. While I'm aware, and accept that on PvP servers items such as these can be taken as prizes, I personally would not have stooped as low as virtual desecration of a memorial of another player, be it same kingdom, or enemy, there are some things I consider beyond the pale in any game, and this sort of behaviour is just the sort of thing that I cannot stomach, nor I suspect is it something any player with the slightest sense of honour and decency will condone. I'm not asking that these items be returned, I doubt those who are so bereft of honour they would do such a thing will feel any pangs of remorse, rather they'll look upon this post as reason to celebrate, to crow and strut that they upset someone who cares about things like this. Yes, I'm deeply annoyed that such things as memorials to players who have passed away can be so easily and thoughtlessly vandalised, for a few HOTA statues that have no value to anyone on Serenity, other than the significance to those who planted them to honour and remember a fallen player. You can't replace things like this, some of those who planted them no longer play, the respect they paid gone now with the messages they left for their friend and fellow player. The Colossus remains, probably because it couldn't be taken, But the respect and honour shown cannot be replaced. Congratulations, you've completely lost any claim to honour and respect your Kingdom could have made, there's no honour to be had in robbing from the dead, only a stain that time will not erase.

We have, we do. We merely need to speak with the friends or relatives to help setup a memorial. Normally this involves a statue being made by the friends or relatives to be donated to the memorial, and a GM sign planted. We have had a few memorials before.

I'm really new to Epic. I have never known or met Paul, I might be even not played Wurm back those years. That memorial site made me asked about Paul from fellow players and thus giving some more insight into the history of Epic. Finding memorial sites in Wurm really always move me, they show the respect amongst players which is unfortunately not so common in our real and gaming worlds. It is a real shame this site has been ruined by anybody and any reason. Although it does not make a difference but I hope it was not an evil but an ignorant act where they didn't even realize the purpose of the site. I think recreating the site would give the chance for later players to know about Paul and a bit of Wurm's history and I would be happy to take part in it.

I'm not proposing restrictions, there are already restrictions on anyone from JK removing planted objects on home servers anyway, which is why I believe it could only have been a group of enemy kingdom players. Deeded, or undeeded, JKH could not have removed them, since they were planted. And as for keeping staff out of this, I'm also a player, I've played on Epic since November 2011, I knew Paul, I planted a HOTA statue as well, but this is not about statues, it's not about memorials, for me it's about the type of mentality that assumes that taking things of no value is somehow something to do with PvP, it's not. I don't want such memorials protected by rules, only by a sense of decency and honour, it seems that this is lacking in the individuals, and the Kingdom they represent.

We will work with GMs to set this up again so it can have some form of anti thieft protection, as it stands it will just repeat over and over. Zenti, contact me or rudie via forums and we can donate any of the statues that were taken and if GM can protect the area once it's setup, that would be cool. many JK players are now Rome and we played alongside Paul, so we're happy to help.

This guy can not be trusted coming from a person who he had access to my drakeset and took it out of my cart. I trusted the guy because he tries to manipulate you into trusting you. DONT! Many groups including EBO wont accept him due to the sheer fact of this guys lack of morals if its a game or not. DO NOT EVER BUY FROM SHADY PEOPLE! Or you will suffer the consiquences. Time after time this character has screwed people over. Have a good day and thanks for starting a wonderful topic for us to say how awesome of a player you truely are Wimble.

My understanding is rifts must be 50 tiles from a deed, and cannot spawn on a building tile. Since we post every rift in our forum, here is a distribution of all rifts since September 2016 on Independence:

I find it to be a wholly disrespectful act. Looting a village for a few HoTA's is one thing, but stealing them from a memorial to a fallen player is...well....downright disgusting. While well within the rules of the game, I would've hoped that the individuals who took these would have some degree of morals about them. Evidently not. Words fail to describe the disappointment I feel in whoever took it upon themselves to take them. As Zenity mentioned, quite a few of the people who helped to create that memorial have since moved on from the game. I remember the group of us who banded together to put together something to commemorate our friend who passed a couple of years ago. I know the individuals from that group would also be disappointed in those who did this.

Yikes, honestly alot of the people who are able to speak English as a second or third language have a better written command of the English language than a good portion of native speakers in my experience. There's absolutely no way I'd ever feel comfortable trying to guess someone as being having English as a first or second language based off of text alone. All this being said, it's quite often easy to spot the stereotypical ignorant American on the internet because of somewhat ridiculous debates and statements as your friend has come out with.

Well to make something clear for wimble, because Mizova what you said here and what you said in Discord seems to vary. he can say whatever he wants once he has left, he isn't subjected to sensorship on how he feels. He left without stealing and gave back the account. I only see 1 side here that has actually taken something. The other words wimble has spat out, after everything was given out, is clearly through frustration of his situation and how he was left out of pocket. I would simply stop the drama from escalating, give him the money then move on with your kingdom and let him move on with his money. You didn't tell him to not use the gems and he used them in pvp to support you, so therefore the gems were used as they were meant to be. Tldr: I thought your kingdom was a no drama kingdom. Btw: me and Wimble have a dedicated drama thread for our hatred, so im not defending him because i like him, I'm defending him because you said he left, didn't steal anything and are now using printscreens and other quotes out of context to make him look bad, like you always do. And kix can't defend himself because he is banned from the forums, not because he doesn't have an account, he did have a forum account, so yeah.

I lost plenty of good friends along the years on Wurm and i would hate to have their memorials (large or small) desecrated. It's not much of the matter of the value of the items, or that it's allowed, or that's it's PVP... it's a matter of respect and the unusual tight bonds we have on WurmOnline. Unlike many others games, we are a small community and we know each others (to some extent) and that kind of behavior is a complete lack of respect, honor and any kind of decency.

It was a shame fighting with friends because the weapons provided allowed us to kill things alone or with at least 2 people without trouble. When I was with a group of 5 people, the xp share was SUPER depressing. It seemed like the xp had split evenly among everybody, but splitting .1fs gain (assuming everybody is around the same skill) between 5 people is a sad .02 correct? I never did the math when i was with 5 people because I didnt have the chance to fight alone. When fighting along one person I noticed a significant decrease in skillgain (Looked like i got 50% of the xp) from fighting alone. Assuming the function for splitting xp among several people is 100/(# of players) %, would anybody oppose changing it to be more group friendly? At first I was gonna suggest combat related skill bonuses when fighting with people in your village or alliance, but the idea isn't working with just people you know; it is more along the lines of fighting with another person in general, such as a random in a rift. https://www.desmos.com/calculator/mqoxfbxc9g In this graph I have what seems to be the original function for xp sharing as the red line, and what I think would be nice as the blue line. Having 100/(# of players)^(.5) % makes it so fighting alone will give you 100% xp, groups of 2 get 71% rather than 50%, 3 gets 58% rather than 33%, 4 gets 50% rather than 25% and so on. In rifts, assuming you have 20 people targeted on one creature (idk max, im nub) the share would be 22% rather than what i assume is 5%. The graph also has a slider on it to change the exponent. If you like the idea but the boost seems too much or too little, feel free to post the exponent you like on the x (1 will make what i assume is the original, 0 is just 100% xp for all) If the game already behaves similar to this but I did not see it, then I will just ask for my post to be closed.

Today I wound up on Pristine where Larek was busy fishing! Eventually he turned around and started to get worried about this big menacing creature creeping up on him, but I explained my intentions. Then he really got worried! Four random challenges were presented Challenge #1 - In which direction does the sun set in Wurm. He got that one correct, though he did have to look! Challenge #2 - He had to have water in his inventory when I asked. Fortunately for him he did! Challenge #3 - Larek had to cut down 5 trees in 3 minutes time. Unfortunately it just wasn't meant to be. He needed 15 seconds more.. Sadly I had to toss the steam powered river boat back into the void! Challenge #4 - Larek had to face down a wild gang of 8 vicious Curly tailed Pepperonis and stop them from using him as topping on their pizza. As is common with the Pepperoni variety, the strongest sacrificed the least important of their herd in order for it to get away. But not for long as Larek used his tracking skills to find the beast.... in other words he turned around and there it was.... With three of the four challenges met, he received a survival kit in case he got stranded on a deserted island and a crate of mortar!

This is the kind of drama that has no place in any pvp game. Perhaps the kind devs of Wurm will, in the future, provide assistance in establishing memorials within starter deeds so that there is never a danger of this happening again.

One problem with using English as a "lingua franca" in international environments is that native English speakers often tend to ignore the fact that - while it's "their" language that's being used - they are not in "their native environment"! Take Wurm Online as an example: we are using English as our common language, but it is still an international game originating in Sweden - not a US game! So, rather than looking down on non-native speakers (who may have a less than perfect grasp of English) native speakers should be careful to avoid using local or national peculiarities of their language, let alone use slang words. We should all confine ourselves to speaking what we in internationally mixed teams always called "International English": a simple and easily understood version of common schoolbook English. I know, it's not easy for native speakers and they are bound to forget about it frequently. But we can try... We non-natives usually have the same problem when joining voice chats: our native-speaker friends usually don't make themselves aware how hard it must be for a German, Dutch, Danish, French, Italian... whatever... listener to understand (much less react to) their Southern States, Australian, Scottish, or whatever.... accent! So: why not speak slowly, clearly and - whenever possible - in an understandable "International English" way? (I know it's hard... ) And finally: yes - usually, when you see a person using perfect English grammar and orthography, the chances are high that they are non-native speakers .
  23. 2 points
I also think it's wrong that you can spot non native speakers so easily. The thing for non native speakers is that they usually learn the language in a formal environment (like school) so they specifically learn all the grammar rules and such. This often means that they spend extra attention on things like grammar, while a native speaker doesn't think as much about the grammar of their own language. There is also a bit of confirmation bias involved. When you see someone write English in a terrible way, you might think "oh yeah they're obviously not a native speaker", so you think you can pick them out. In reality you can't see the thousands of people who are also non native speakers who you didn't pick out. In my experience, non native speakers do have a limited vocabulary range. Say they work in IT, they could maybe explain a program in full details with lots of jargon and complicated words. But then you ask them something about groceries and suddenly they don't know the words for "leek", "spring onion" or "parsley". Or at least not on the spot. For a Dutch example, try telling someone in English that you bought "jong belegen kaas, volkoren brood, halfvolle melk, bruine bolletjes en andijvie". By talking about "mundane" subjects like that, you can often pick them out. Another way of noticing that they're not native speakers is by being aware of some basic words or grammar rules of other languages. For example, Dutch and German have a different sentence structure than English. Sometimes you can tell someone is Dutch or German by looking at how they (incorrectly) formulated their sentence. Another example is that a language like Russian doesn't have any articles (like "a" or "the"), so some native Russian speakers make the mistake of not using articles in English either. Another thing that gives away that they're non native English speakers is the usage of "false friends". These are words that look the same between two different languages, but actually mean entirely different things. An example is that there was this guy in Wurm called Spider who would says things like "I become horse shoes" or "I become pvp". While he isn't exactly an example of a great English speaker, the mistake originated from the fact that he is a German speaker and that the German phrase for "I get" is "ich bekomme", which looks a lot like "I become". If you're a non native English speaker, try googling "false friends English <your language>". It might make you realize you've been saying certain things wrong the whole time. A good Dutch example is "onderarm" and "underarm". Despite the fact that "onder arm" literally means "under arm" (when you look at them as separate words), they refer to different places on your arm.

mhum... narrow minded fellow you found there, the force not strong is with him. Is Yoda actually an American of sorts? He sure tries hard though. Anyhow, I think how fluent someone is in any language depends on their interest in said language or if they need it for some sort of activity that has them being very passionate about something they do a lot, maybe every day. I learned the basics of English back in school 5th grade onward which enabled me to play EverQuest and other MMOs online with native (and non-native) English speakers and then added Anime with English subtitles to the mix (a English book or two may have snuck in as well). I have no idea how many headaches I caused as a result of this though. That was how it went down for me and at the end of the day I only care if I am being understood, I want to be able to converse properly with someone if I am in that situation. I don't aim to "pass" as American or whatever, simply being able to talk with someone else who has hopefully a good command of the English language is all that matters for me. Sometimes that can be rough as with three languages going around my mind not always the correct word comes to mind when I need it, but I'm not a native English speaker so I hope people forgive me if I slip up.

Based on my last automation-suggestion thread, I've made some more specific suggestions, and since they seem to be getting lost there, I've started a new thread for them. Given the clear anti-macro policy of Wurm, here's what I would do to improve player QoL using the existing queueing system: Mind Logic First step: remove the mind logic queueing restriction, and allow everyone to queue ten actions. The could be very useful for new players, while not imposing anything on them if they don't want to use queueing. (The fact that basic interface functionality isn't immediately available feels the same to me as if we couldn't use the right mouse button until 30 ML. I see no good reason why new players should be forced to do more clicking to accomplish the same tasks; that sort of thinking depresses the player base.) At the same time, repurpose Mind Logic such that instead of allowing extra queueing actions, it provides an skill/statgain bonus, perhaps up to 10% at 100. To me, that fits the world story nicely: Vynora gives exp bonus, Vyn gives ML, more logic allows one to learn more. New Improvement Window I would add a new window for imping, based somewhat on both the fence-building and crafting interfaces. At its most basic, the imp window would have a slot so you could drag in a stack of imp-able items. Like the crafting window, you would have a pane showing the tools and resources needed for imping. Like the fence-building window, as long as you have the tools and resources in inventory, you can use the exceedingly useful queueing tool to quickly queue up multiple imping actions, and the window will automatically do the right imping move for the next item. Additional functionality: - Include repairing as a recognized imping action; - No immediate binding of queued action to item; that is, you can have 3 items, queue 10 actions, and the window will do 10 imping actions on the 3 items. - Intelligent resource usage: the window will choose the lowest QL matching resource in inventory to do the imp. New Action Window This window would be like the crafting window, only it would allow dragging actions into it as well as items. So, for instance, you could drag mining into it, and queue up ten mining actions with a single button click. Or, for a resource-consuming action, you could drag in taming and a stack of mixed grass, and queue up ten taming actions. Additional Enhancements - Make resting a queueable action. This would be most useful for levelling: queue a levelling, then a rest to regain all available stamina, then a levelling. - Make expgain from levelling the same as normal digging/mining. I see no reason to punish that, any more than I see any reason to make actions give less exp if they were queued. - Make tree chopping a single action, with multiple skill ticks (like levelling or repairing), both for cutting down and chopping up. - Modify the crafting window to pull needed items from inventory for continuing (again, like the fence-building window). In short, I'd like to see the very handy queueing functionality of the crafting window extended to imping and regular actions.

I attempted to buy the account kix after trying to find several accounts to buy, and finally decided on Kix, and I sent the money via paypal to the owner Unknownorganism and it said he wouldn't get the money til the 22nd of November. And I made it clear that it might not go through so let's wait til the 22nd but he gave me the password anyways. The 22nd came around and supposedly the payment didn't go through. So I told him I would give him the account back until I figured out what was going on and he told me not to yet. Log in a couple days later and Hexd is asking for the account back and I said no problem just let me get what I can off him that was mine. I left all the stuff that came with Kix 'Spyglass, maul, halter rope' , and I also used some Gems in PvP with Hexd, and Unknown at an Ebonaura deed, but they are claiming I stole their gems that he left on there. Anyways, I had some money in the bank on kix and I withdrew it not knowing he didn't have a bank set up at the capital yet, and I COD'ed something from Wimble to Kix for that amount but just told them to accept the mail when the bank account opened in 24 hours. Anyways they technically stole 1s 60c from me, and 10-12 sleep powders on epic as compensation for the premium time for the payment not going through and kicked me from the kingdom because I joined another kingdom on Epic "Without telling them". Got to tell Mom and Dad everything... Moral of the story is, be cautious on all aspects when buying an account. http://prntscr.com/hg2a0y And here's the paypal screenshot No the payment didn't go through thus the 'Canceled' part. But just be careful on what you do.

I have gotten in "debate" with someone on the internet who insists it would be extremely easy to spot a non-American posting on the internet because their lack of fluent English would give them away. Leaving aside the obvious fact that America is NOT the only country in the world where English is the primary language, I think they are severely underestimating how many people in the world speak (or rather write) near-perfect English even when it is not their native language. I have many many times here in the forums conversed with someone over an extended period, sometimes even for years, without realizing that English was not their primary language. So I am trying to get a sense of how widespread it is in other countries to be fluent in English -- fluent enough so that no one on the internet can guess that it is NOT your first language. (I imagine talking in voice chats is different as accents are probably much harder to miss) PS: Part Two was they insisted even if the person had good command of the English language, they would be unable to "pass" on things like current events and politics. My gut feeling is that non-Americans who are active on the internet tend to be extremely well educated and very "up" on current events and politics, even including American politics. PSS: This person -- who yes, was an American -- was also unaware that English was the native language of most Canadians

How do people feel about a combat tutoring function in WO? My figuring is combat can be darn dangerous. If it's not the threat of being unaware of a creature's lethality, a toon can also be surprised, flanked or - let's just say it - caught with their pants down due to connectivity/server hiccups. While the idea isn't to remove the tension of danger, it may be enriching to have a style and weapon training option that is more rewarding (and more interesting) than training dolls. With limitations, of course. - A tutor must be at least 50 skill in a weapon or stance, be a member of a deed with Tutoring perms granted. - Tutor can only train other members of the same deed. - The student can only be trained to a skill equal to half of the tutor's in a given weapon or combat stance. - To train a weapon skill, both the student and tutor must have that weapon equipped. Same for stance being activated. - A student will not be able to train weapons with a tutor if 2 weapon skills have reached skill 50. A student cannot train more than 2 weapons skills through the tutor system. - Also, student cannot train stance if 1 stance skill has reached 50. - Also, student cannot train more than 1 stance through tutoring system. - A maximum of 5 skill points can be increased per RL day - training dolls remain valuable to a point. - Equipment and health damage possible depending on disparity of skill between student and tutor. To visualize the process: A potential student joins the same village as their potential tutor. Both equip the same weapon type - for this example, long swords. The tutor right clicks the student, selects a newly available "Tutor (Long Sword)" action. The student's toon is permanently tagged as studying the Long Sword skill, which counts toward the 2-weapon limit as listed above. The student and tutor remain in combat proximity for a time, the student earning ticks for the tutored skill, with a very rare chance for the tutor to gain small ticks as well, provided they are not at max. This occurs until either move out of proximity, choose to stop, or the student gains 5 skill points. More points may be added, but the above is the meat of it. The value isn't fully mechanical. I recall a former member of my village setting up their own stronghold with ample grounds with the intent of a fully armory. I imagine the roleplay value of a combative toon wanting to take time to relax at a village, but takes on protégés - for a fee, probably. Heck, if a tutor with 100 skill in a weapon trains someone up to 50, imagine a title or item that can be granted stating "Student of the Way of [tutor name]." My two irons. May be more effort than it's worth, but I found it cool to think about.

I do not agree with gm-protected herritage sites on epic. If a memorial is to be made then make it at the starter and with "regular" items. And even then the starter deeds are raidable. It was a shitty thing to be done but hota decorational statues in the end is a reward from hota/pvp. What it really comes down to is that you choose to decorate with the statues in a way you saw fit. There shouldn't be staff magically protecting your way of using the decorative rewards on a pvp server.

-1 on the premise, why unlock everything being new? Part of the psychological reward of putting in hard work is the "unlocking" of specialist abilities. Such as, mind logic 10 levels per action click. :). This seems to be equivalent of giving everyone a level 100 player to make it fair for all players in others games...

I think it's better to appreciate the effort non-English speakers go through to learn this crazy language than to try and 'pick them out'. Many of them (I've been told) haven't had lessons, but just learn from TV and games and jump in! I grew up speaking (informally) a second language and can read/understand a few others and I would NEVER feel comfortable enough to go and play on a non-English speaking server. Maybe Americans need to all give that a try and see how we feel. (Also, now I know that my keyboard mashing in chat has probably picked me out as an American!)

The Hireling is a stationary NPC similar to a Merchant. For pay the hireling produces low quality bulk goods like planks or bricks from raw materials. The production cost should be significantly higher than hiring a real player to make the same goods. Applying a Hireling contract (purchased from a Trader) to a Work Station creates the NPC. The Work Station is a player created object composed of a BSB (for holding the raw materials), a large crate (for produced materials), a wooden table, and enough planks and nails to hold everything together. When supplied with wages in the form of coins the Hireling begins producing the goods from the raw materials for a limited amount of time. The intent is not to damage the market for bulk goods but to create a fun mechanic for populating workshops. Hirelings occasionally joke, complain, talk about their work and tools, speculate about server events like rifts and unique spawns, criticize the skinflint boss (that's you), and otherwise chat to relieve the boredom of their repetitive work. Their activity produces the same sawing, chipping, carving, etc. and entries in the event log as the same player activity. The goal is to enliven work spaces that are usually empty and rarely have more than one person using them. Details of which Hirelings know how to produce which products (I am inclined to require them to specialize to some degree), whether they require tools, and such matters I leave to your imagination. I expect people will have lots of good ideas about those things.

Wonder what ones are actually liquid foods. In north Xana you cannot go 20-50 tiles without something attacking you. Butchering is easy as I'm strong enough to carry a few corpses that I butcher-burry while traveling.

if they type with a lot of errors its an "american", if they type perfect english and then say sorry for my bad English, then they're not. o/ i was born in Yew York, then as a baby and up to adulthood grew in a Spanish speaking country. luckily for me i learned English in school (many countries have "american schools" for children of the military and federal government. But if i hadn't gone to that school and instead had gone to local schools, i wouldn't be able to communicate in English beyond a very basic level. If i hadn't learned English, would i have stopped being an "american"? The person you were arguing with would probably say yes. Also the English language is not exclusive domain nor proprietary to "America". It didn't even originate there. But again I doubt the person you were debating with is interested in facts, seeing as their point of view is already so narrow. “You never know what you will find in caves, so send someone else in first.” Sir Baggins at the foot of an old abandoned cave Hi Everyone! Another week down, and it's a bit of a slow news day today, with ongoing updates and adjustments, as well as collection of feedback and all that fun stuff that comes after a major update. But first... Patch Notes Branding WSA In today's update we introduced a new permissions group for branded animals, grouping anyone with the brand animals permission on a deed. Previously they were all individually added, which had the downside of those permissions staying even if that person left the village. With this update if someone leaves the village, they no longer have permissions to manage the creature. You can also deny permissions to this group if you have a personal horse. W.S.A. Currently this group does not copy over to the corpse upon creature death, so the items will not be able to be looted. This will be rectified in an upcoming update to address this issue. If you are concerned a bout losing gear and not being a ble to collect it please use specific names Discord! A few weeks ago we launched our own Official Discord channel, and this week we were verified! Our server now has A custom invite link at https://discord.gg/wurm and higher priority voice servers. It also means that our server is verified, and totally cool! (It was already cool, trust me). If you're not familiar with discord, it's definitely worth checking out, it's a great way to stay in touch with Wurmians outside of the game, and also join your own little communities, there's several community ones out there for servers already, so check them out too! But for the official one, check out: WU Beta I know with the release of Archaeology, Restoration and all those other goodies, many of our Wurm Unlimited players are chomping at the bit to get their hands on them. Right now our focus is getting it all working nice and smoothly in WO, and we'll continue to adjust and work with feedback until we're satisfied it's running perfectly, then release a beta. There's no ETA on the beta yet, but it's being worked towards, so keep your eyes peeled for it in the coming weeks! Creature Crates Each weekly news is rightfully met with the question "but what about creature crates?!" I know it can be tough waiting for these to come, and the last thing we want is another bridges, but work does progress on them, just a bit slowly, given the many areas we need to address, and in some cases redesign systems that were never intended to include creatures crossing. It's a long process and one we hope improves border crossing as a whole in the future, but until then though, we have no set date for their release. Community Content In this weeks community content, veteran grinder Ondar shares their tips on grinding as well as what drives them to the grind. I cannot fathom the statement "Yeah, good old WS. Its easier to grind it 3rd time around", clearly a sign of a deranged mind! Ondar has an awesome little blog where they share their wurmian adventures, and also what they focus on to grind, what do you grind and why? http://unrealondar.blogspot.com.au/2017/11/grindity-grind-burnity-burn.html That's it for this weeks news, we're beginning to set our sights on future updates and looking ahead into 2018, with plenty more in the works. What could be coming? You'll just have to wait and see.. Until next time though, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team.

Version 0.7 modloader Discover mods from installed mods/modname/modname.jar files Always activate custommap and serverpacks by default Log game version, log mod versions earlier Extract packaged config files (serverpacks has no config file packaged yet) serverpacks Replace existing packs when redownloading a pack Allow forced pack downloads patcher Fix java path on linux https://github.com/ago1024/WurmClientModLauncher/releases/tag/v0.7 It's now sufficient to install client-modlauncher-0.7.zip to have the modloader, serverpacks and the custommap mod active. If you don't want them active add a "depend.ondemand=true" line to serverpacks.config or custommap.config.

Greetings Sindusk: Someone on Steam forums (bob_2059) suggested I look at your starting gear mod. I am teaching a new class at the University where I work, which looks at the "Survival / Crafting" genre, from literature to film and its impact on computer games. The real focus is looking at how one could use contemporary computer games in an educational environment (think Uncle Billy / Microsoft purchasing Minecraft for $2.5 billion, and selling seat licenses for $5 each to schools - but I like Wurm better : ) I have been creating a small scenario for the students to play (new map, limited starting gear), as an example. I had been trying to create a work around solution, to the standard really nice / complete set of starting gear every new player gets, but your mod might make that much easier. So two questions: 1) is it compatible with current WU release and easy to install using Ago's mod loader? 2) Do I have your permission to actually use the mod as part of the class (not just in creating the map / game, but actually having students do a project of their own, which would require them to use your mod to adjust starting gear)? Typically Education / Fair use would, but I prefer to actually get permission from those who create the content, when possible (which it may not be, if you are no longer following the thread <LOL> ) Thanks.

Making affinities both unpredictable and reproducible is pretty much mutually exclusive, and I'll rather have them remain reproducible. I prefer finding my affinities by experimentation myself aswell, but to each their own. I can't really agree that making only the neccessary is being "penalized" either...if you're doing it less, you gain less experience in it, panfilling or not. That's only fair. I don't think this would be particularly more immersive anyway. In both cases, you just drop your food in a container and it's going by itself, that's awfully noninteractive except for the food preparation, wether you make 1 or 100 meals. What would improve both immersion and reward for people doing only a few meals, but presumably paying more attention to them, is introducing some interactions usually associated with cooking: -Stirring soups (With a spoon?) -Flipping ingredients in frying pans (Fork?) -Perhaps post cooking seasoning that don't change the affinity, but provide an additional action? -More obvious ideas I can't think of because I'm as creative as a brick. Every cooking container should have something like this, but might need some brainstorming to come up with something at least somewhat sensible for each. These actions could be analoguous to tending your fields, increasing QL of the resulting meal a bit and giving experience for the additional interactions. I think that'd be a good compromise as it doesn't tamper with what you can do now by cooking en masse, while adding rewards to those wanting to cook less but spend more time actively on the meal for the sake of immersion or plain preference. Kind of enabling both the quantity and the quality approach to skilling HFC.
