Really not going to rage, but I think a few things need to be addressed and discussed, and maybe have something come out from this to improve the 2 new skills. 1st Tens of thousands of useless junk frags, I get why this was put in, to grind the skill on, but I wish a different way was created to grind the skill. Perhaps brushing and chipping away at parts of a token or statue before it can be assembled. Perhaps the finding of junk should scale with your skill level or maybe be removed all together. It is so sad to get a rare roll on something and it turns out to be a rock shard or sword blade, why could it not of been on that armor piece or something else more useful than just a quick meal in the altar. 2nd Decay has been slowed down, which is appreciated as some folks are sitting on tens of thousands of frags they wish to assemble for the skill gain, personally I would love to see a cabinet to hold my favorite parts I am collecting, useful things like statues and tools. (and let me use the space in my lmc for storing the items I normally want to store in the chest) 3rd The only useful spell I have seen on anything would be blood thirst, and only if its on a weapon at that. All the other random spells I have seen are worthless due to being 1 power. The runes were a nice surprise but are so random that more often than not its not what you would want on the item to begin with, perhaps it would be cool if you could 'salvage' that rune off the item and apply it to something else. 4th Perhaps the best feature of the whole skill set is the history of the old deeds you find. I knew Exodus is fairly old and have only been a few years on it myself, but I never imagined the scope of the deeds that have come and gone over the time this server has been opened and every time I find a new deed name I never heard of before I amazed. I wish we had a journal that you could record deed info as you find it and have it saved as pages of a book or something, maybe a new addon for wurm assist is in order. 5th Is there a light at the end of the tunnel, if the most you can hope to find is a mask or statue it may not be enough incentive for a lot to put this much time into the skill, if there is other items out there that are truly amazing and yet to be discovered that could be a carrot to dangle in front of a nose, but as it is now after the first week or so and no one has reported finding anything useful, perhaps it is time to focus back on digging tar or chipping bricks. I have yet to find a mask piece and since the patch went through to change masks from 3 parts to 10 I have not heard of anyone else finding a mask piece, so I suspect the chance of finding these items was reduced at the same time as the amount of parts required was increased, almost like a double nerf. If there is anything else out there worth while finding if the chance is as good as creating a fantastic item or finding a tome on a hatchling, then I would say there is no point to working on these skills other than the novelty of seeing what deed was sitting on whatever hillside you are passing by at the time.

Please tone back down the aggressiveness of untamed Hell Horses back to what they were before the creature "fix". Right now, it's incredibly annoying to handle them, let alone breed them.

I've dug up thousands of artifacts since reaching 90 (and used all my powder and sleep bonus to get there so i've continued with none). I've used 90ql trowel, then imped it to 97.5 to test. I've used a 90ql shovel and a 1ql shovel to test. I've gone to many different sites in exodus with multiple old deeds on them, and even went to indepenence to test on the oldest deed sites. Afaik - after you unlock libila statue at 60 - archeology is done ->. nothing more to see here folks. The Junk ql goes up at higher skill, but it's still junk in the end.

    1) Add sandstone and slate versions of existing statues. 2) Wood statues! Use an axe on a felled tree, imp like any other carpentry item. 3) Metal statues! Combine beeswax and use Hand on the wax to create a Wax Statue of X Mold Use clay on Wax Mold to create a Clay Statue Statue of X Mold Fire the Clay Statue Statue of X Mold to create a Pottery Statue of X Mold Finally, to create the metal statue combine a glowing Metal Lump with the Pottery Statue of X Mold to create the unfinished <Metal Type> Statue of X. Keep adding glowing metal lumps until finished. No new art assets (except maybe wax?), just combining textures with existing models.

A calm, well-argued, and thoughtful post from someone that must have somehow gotten access to Jake's forum account. No really, he's right on all points. Our boy Rock took it past 90 and still not a single shard of a worthwhile piece. Don't give up on this Devs, there's so much potential in these new skills, let's make sure to do them justice.

In the discord I'm in we where just talking about all the improvements and hard work the devs have put in lately. I was honestly a bit worried when Rolf left as lead designer but these last 2 years has been the most interesting and feature-rich advances I've seen, and I've been here since 2005 basically. My worries where unnecessary and I really am impressed about the patience you guys have with the community who can, at times, sound really negative - myself included. I'm really sorry that we don't show you guys more patience in return when bugs etc happens. It's quite obvious that you have both the game and the customers best in mind, and that you listen to input. I just wanted to say thanks and that I hope you guys have motivation and ideas for years to come!

That would be great! Going to take quite a few to stretch all the way to Linton. I made 155 last night and didn't get out of Lormere local with them! I only remember one deed being over the road to south of Lormere and it actually went down in upkeep a few days back.

League of Anubis launched a major offensive into Murkia against Ebonaura, so there is stuff to do. There are a lot more options to join now, so make sure you looked at all of them before making a committed application to one of them. It is a completly different world since MR fell. From your application it does not look like you realy want to come back to Wurm.

Longer actions increase the chances at the end of the action, vs the same chance every 5 seconds, it has zero to do with any time dirt is placed in your inventory (which is what the old system would have matched coincidentally), this actually makes it 1 chance per action timer, vs 1 chance every 5 seconds (meaning 12 chances every minute) Also, woa does not affect levelling or flattening, and skillgain from both is reduced, so I'm not entirely sure why you would choose to use an enchanted shovel for these actions, given they serve little to no benefit, and also mean long timers with higher chances of decay per action

so with higher skill you get less fragments meaning less ticks? Not finding lower tier stuff wouldnt mean always finding good stuff, it would likely mean finding less items in general, but what you do find is more useful, which has some appeal, but again, reduces the ability to gain skill. That's an interesting idea and something I will pass on. I've seen a suggestion thread for it and the initial reduction in decay has already gone in, adding anything such as that would require art assets which take a little longer. The resulting spell is based on restoration, you won't always get really low results, it's just low rolls. With higher restoration skill you get better results, I've seen casts of 80+ on tools and more, which I haven't seen mentioned around. Again an interesting idea, and there's been a few discussion on how to achieve this and it may be something we can look at. We didnt change any rate at which things can be found, 3 pieces for masks was leading to them being rather common, which wasn't the intention with their addition. Additionally, this system is built around being expandable too, it's possible that new items could be added and adjusted, but this isnt a "get to 90 and pump out cool stuff" thing, Archaeology is about finding history, and while lower skill will yield a lot of junk, it also means more chances to skill up. We've already tweaked the difficulty once, and will likely review it again over the coming weeks to ensure what we're getting is what we want, so feedback is always helpful on that, but I've already seen quite a few masks and statues around, if you're looking to collect one of each it would be quite a lot of work, but if you want to collect a specific mask or statue, trading would be a very viable option, given many out there are looking to do the same.

Today's Random Enkounter landed back on Xanadu. Eyelykekatz was the only one in the local vicinity and had to face 4 challenges! The first challenge was to tell me how many moons were currently in Wurm. He passed that challenge with flying colors... with a little help from the wiki... Second Challenge was ridiculously easy... get 20 planks within 15 minutes.... he had about 14 minutes to spare... Third challenge also way way too easy. Tame a dog! His fourth and final challenge would make up for the easy ones. A group of Vampires have escaped from Halloween and taken up residence in a nearby cave. They have sent their Igors out to remove Eyelykekatz' garlic patches so they might sneak in and feast on him while he sleeps. He had to defeat all 30 of the Igors to keep his blood in his veins where I assume is where he usually keeps it. The battle was long and lasted throughout the night as there were many...many... times I did not think he was going to survive the waves of Igors! Eventually as the sun crested over the distant mountain peaks and the first rays of light struck the landscape, all around were dead Igor's and Eyelykekatz survived the night! With their prospects for food diminished, the Halloween vampires skulked into the back of the cave until the next night where they fled to the northern regions of Xanadu. Eyelykekatz received an entire Italian feast for six people... as long as they like 3rds and 4ths.... Plus an absolutely indispensable item for a future vampire hunter, an archery target.

Personally, as fun as it sounds, it just seems a time waster to me. Sure I'll grind the skill to have it, but will I set out on a career? Nope. I'd rather see some other skill added. Perhaps, like Throwing to actually make use of the option.

This is maybe your only valid argument, but I doubt that iron plate changes anything for PvE chain smiths at all. All armour choices in PvE are made from look more than efficiency, since everything is basically easy to kill after a week of grinding fight skill. Existing plate smiths will get new orders for iron plate based on that it has a different outlook, why do you think that all Wurm players will suddenly just go and grind the skill to 90? I know I won't. You know what killed almost all armor smithing on PvE? Loot drops from creatures that are just so much better than anything craftable (which is already stupid in a sandbox game). This just means that all armor changes should be based purely on PvP perspective. My initial reaction was not even to you, it was purely against the argument made by someone else that "boo hoo, you pissed on plate smiths", but it seems to be your primary reason as well, since you are reacting so strongly. It is just a childish argument, and holds no value at all. From my perspective Plate smithing was finally fixed after years of being a broken skill. I hope one day the devs will have the balls to change weapon smithing also, from being 3x as slow to 2x as slow as other skills, because the only argument against that is old weaponsmiths crying over how much time they spend grinding the skill, and feels their time was wasted, even though they profited greatly for years.

Just because something is new doesn't make it inherently bad either. Almost every new feature in Wurm "pisses" on some old players in some way. "I paved a road from the moon and back a few million times to get 90 paving, now you can just imp catseyes and do it in a breeze! My life is ruined!!!" "STUPID DEVS! You dumbed down the game. Now you can get gardening skill by cutting grass and picking herbs from planters? WTF ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT? We needed to plant flowers for years to grind gardening skills and it worked FINE!!!!!!" "I got all my skills to 100 before this fancy smancy new crafting interface, you are diminishing all my achievements! I could memorize all crafting recipes in my head, these kids got it easy!" "Pfft, I got all my skills to 100 before those fancy smancy keybinds! I earned my carpal tunnel syndrome, devs ruined my life with those keybinds!" I can't see a single downside to Iron Plate. All the platesmiths who grinded PAS already has a headstart on any new competition, and there is still a market for steel tools and armor, which will have less chance of competition, because less need for other players to grind Coal Making and Metallurgy now.
  45. 1 point
+1 to more high end steel armor options -1 to no iron plate, i am against the "boohoo it was hard for me to do this skill so should be hard for everyone" and "meh markets" arguments that stop new items or more availability of high end stuff.
  46. 1 point
Yeah, lets just stop developing new features. Every new feature is basically pissing on old players, if we all look at the world like you do.

I accidently found a solution to this. And possibly what caused it. It seems the crate remains "open" even after you closed it. And because if that it's considered as a container you work with. What I did was bringing up the menu and "close" the crate. After that I was able to move it from the rack into my wagon. Hope this info helps solving the bug. Thorin

Unfortunatly there is very little we can do if the box itself is down as we wouldent be able to access it to move you elsewhere. Clustering can be done by clients yourself or you can pay for us to do it for you, if you pay for it, it does state between normal UK working hours. We try our best to provide the best possible service and in 99% of cases achieve this. I actually completed a cluster today WUA I'm still working on, I have reached out to the developer but have had no reply as of yet.

Something akin to telepathy. For if there would be no Wurm my life would lack many great things. My thanks to Wurm for being here to type this message. In my darkest hours, the escape into Wurm was reason to stay around. Thanks to Wurm I am married with someone so far away that the odds of us meeting without Wurm would have been absolute zero. Thanks to Wurm for our daughter. Surely quite few people in Wurm has seen me in good times, bad times and very bad times. Those people are from all over the globe, all sort of different people, they also have had good, bad and very bad times. After so many years knowing these amazing people trough Wurm, I can no longer but wonder and feel sadness when some of those in real life who did not yet abandon me telling me how "online friends are not true friends". No wonder the escape into Wurm is so pleasant.
