    actually you got it all wrong, past 99.99 it's the same tick rate on both clusters, but epic get *2 skillgain so it is exactly x2 at that point... between 99 and 99.99 it got about 1% difference in tick rate (and 99 skill is about 30% of the time needed to reach 100) curve only makes a little difference for lower skill for example my tick rate for 47 meditating (70 effective on epic) was 42% while it was 34% at 70 (90 effective) skill and 31% at 90 (99 effective) so yes epic get less ticks faster, but not fast enough to actually negate the double skillgain the formula budda gave is pretty close to what it would have been on freedom so no more headache needed it's just the x3 all the way back that's being way generous imo

    As a fellow Freedom player with more than 1 skill at 100 (and several 99+ skills), I understand your concern of your skills losing perceived value when comparable skills that were easier obtained join the Freedom cluster. To some extent. Consider the following: Account buying, exploits (source crystals for well over a year, anyone?), bug abuse, windows of opportunity and things like pan filling businesses already exist. There are people who simply buy their way to 100 hot food cooking for example, people who buy a character with 99.999+ in a skill and finish it up to 100, people who made significant (ab)use of exploits and whatnot. This all happens on Freedom often enough, and probably still will happen in the future. Rather than worrying about how for example my 100 HFC is not rare to be seen and thus of low bragging value to others, I personally think it's valuable enough as I know I gathered all the materials for it and did all the pan filling myself. If 100 people were to buy their way to 100 HFC over night, my own perceived value wouldn't change. Epic players joining the Freedom clusters are different though. Even if they had it easier to get a skill to 99 or 100 than if they were to do it on Freedom, it still took a lot of effort and I applaud them for it. Even with the increased skillgain it's a mighty impressive feat, in my opinion. They don't get the high skills just handed to them like some others in the previous thread seemed to think, the few hours needed less doesn't make it effortless. Granted I would probably be a bit annoyed if I would end up losing a "Wurm First" to an Epic player on a skill I am actively grinding to 100 because of the generous conversion, but even that would not be enough for me to be opposed to the ability for Epic players to retain their converted skills as per currently determined formula. My 99 carpentry is still impressive to me (I know it's very common on Freedom, that is why I use it as an example), I won't think less of my own achievements just because Epic players join Freedom with that same achievement. Not saying it is the case for you, but generally speaking, IF it's about bragging rights (let's face it, for some people it's just that and ego), it should be even easier to focus on the underlying effort rather than the number shown. If anything, having it done the Freedom way should add to the bragging rights.

    See, there is this little thing called effective skill level you seem to be forgetting about. You might want to read up on that and how it affects epic skilling past 70. But let me give you a hint: It makes it not exactly x2 faster than Freedom and is what causes Devs all the headache.

    So, any word on what will happen to people that grinded heavily on both clusters on the same character? A formula being figured out for that too or are we just stuck with the whole "higher skill replaces other skill" thing? I'm mainly worried because of the body stats If i'm 60 bstr on epic and 60 bstr on freedom, it will really sting to have wasted so much grind on nothing

    Actually yes I have grinded skills to 90, and I still dont see how it matters. My effort wont be any less just because someone else's was easier or different. Nor will my skills be less valuable. Or do less. Or my effort be graded in a different light. All I see is a bunch of friends who have quit the game coming back to try epic, and a bunch of epic players coming back to play on Freedom. Then a few people on the sidelines crying bloody murder because they are not special snowflakes... Or something. I have to admit I am having one hell of a time figuring out what the issue is. I have about 7 accounts. 3 which I grinded myself and the newest went on a skill from 1 to 83 in two to three weeks on Freedom. So yes, I fail to see what the gripe is.

    Yes, and you are hung up on what? A bruised ego? These guys spent years on their accounts and their cluster died. Freedom has already gotten a lot from Epic. Sure, lets make it fair. Lets remove player gods from Freedom and reset the faith every player got on a player God. Lets remove all those Valrei tomes and all the moon metal Freedomers love getting from their rifts. Thats all Epic which bled to Freedom. Player Gods in particular are directly from the effort put by exclusively Epic players which Freedom enjoys now. Yet I dont see anyone asking for fair treatment on that. All I see is a vocal minority of my fellow Freedomers complaining because someone else might have skills with a bit less effort than them. Might. Its selfish and dumb. Nothing in this change affects you as a player. You dont get nerfed, you dont loose skills, you dont loose anything. You just rather see the game die than to give a hand to a group of fellow Wurmians so they can remain to play the game we all love, thus extending and enhancing our player experience. Its shameful, and people who think like that should be ashamed for it. Its selfishness of a level I never thought I'd see in a game like this.

I know it have taken many hours from you guys to help a low number of players in wurm overall (epic) which is why it means extra much that you are taking time and showing us alot of care. Wurms develop team really do have a heart for their players *hugs*

We spent an awful lot of time running those calculations (millions!) and seeing the results was pretty cool. This week won't be the huge reveal that we did have planned, as those have taken slightly longer, and we want them in and tested prior to revealing it, but I have some exciting news for you this week anyways! Epic transfer recap To recap the end result, epic accounts will transfer to Freedom with a reduced skillset. Reduced skills will have 3x skillgain until they return to the same level they were on epic however. A player has put together a total skill dump converter, allowing you to see what your epic skills will be after the transfer to freedom, check it out here: http://www.crusades.top/api/LogConvert.html Bulk movement Another thing coming with this update (there's so many things!) is the ability transfer items between bulk containers without constant clicking! Moving from one container to another will trigger a timer, that moves as many as you can carry each second (ignoring 100 item count, just weight limit). This will surely make Shifting contents of bulk storage a breeze (and save those wrist injuries!) Wagoner info As we revealed a few weeks ago, the wagoner will be a Wurm Online exclusive NPC, that handles delivers between players using the highway system on each server. There's a lot of detail to go into with how to use them, so our awesome developer, Tich, has taken the time to write up a handy guide for you all!     Please stop talking of new player experience when you are more than two years old. You come across as a troll trying to scare players away from our game because of bad choices you have made. Northern Xanadu is not for new players, it is like level 95 in a themepark game. I understand you are in a bad situation now, so what you should do is you ask in Freedom chat if anyone in the North can help you out.

    Maybe not so far as a rift-type event, but I do get your meaning. To be fair, I've seen open invites for participation in some Release unique kills, but closed loot. So ya get a bit of blood and scale for your efforts. /shrug. There used to be public kills / public loot, but I suppose that's history. Welcome to the new, less populated Wurm. I don't like cartels or cliques or whatever you want to call them either. But I frankly do not care. That's not my game. If I were to be included, then I invite self-loathing.

    +1 Quick idea on how to determine if a tile is Salt Water, Brackish or Fresh Water. LOS Definition: Line of sight, means a direct cardinal direction (N, E, S, W) of water tiles uninterrupted by land. Underground: Always Freshwater No LOS to server edge: Always Freshwater 2 or more LOS to server edge: Always Saltwater After that it gets a bit more complicated. 1 LOS to server edge: Saltwater UNLESS touching Freshwater, then Brackish. If Brackish water is touching Fresh Water on 2 or 3 sides AND is not touching Salt Water on at least 1 side, then it becomes Fresh Water. Run a check every hour or so (to keep server load light) and it should, over time, have the water types stabilize in a fairly sane pattern, with brackish water being a border region between salt and fresh water.

    Its not selfishness. Its wanting things to be fair across the board for all players. Its sad that epic has not lived up to what it was supposed to be. I play on epic also. This change will benefit me a great deal but it doesn't make it fair.

    Its not a "bit faster" its 3X faster that is better than permanent SB. Throw some SB on that and now its 6X. Its still a smack in our face since what they were getting already was very generous considering they were NEVER supposed to transfer characters from Epic to Freedom.

    Just a caution: Putting your skill dump into a private unassociated forums to Wurm Online may not be the best idea. The skill dumps may well be kept, along with other confidential information such as IP addresses. Proceed with caution.

    I see you are still going ahead with the Epic transfers. You are going to reduce their skills to match the time they would have put in on Freedom, but then they get to have the same 3x skill gain they had on Epic to catch up to where they were. Totally unfair to the other Freedom players. They knew what the rules were when they went to Epic, and now you are giving in to the whining that they want to come to Freedom without having to do the grind again. Why are you doing so much for such a small group?

    It appears this thread has transferred from epic into chaos (hah) so I wanted to touch on a few things before closing it. 1) Epic isn't going anywhere, all items gathered there are still there, if players make the choice to move from epic to freedom they do so knowing that they take no items, tomes, or meditation paths with them, but that if they return to epic all of them are there and waiting. 2) The differences in skilling are not enough to start a major war over! This formula effectively removes the 2x gains per tick (90 on epic is NOT the same as 45 on freedom, the calculation works out how many ticks it takes to get to x on epic, and then applies the freedom skillgain to that many ticks) the 3x bonus is a way of cushioning the blow of the lost skills (which while maybe easier, were still something epic players took pride in!). Also, given the curve allowed players to imp past their skill, many did not push them higher than 70 or so, so not only are they coming from epic having their skills reduced, to get back to what they could work at on freedom will take a lot more than just grinding up to the same number they were on on epic. If someone travels to epic to take advantage of the skill transfer back at a later date, they do so knowing that at any point someone could potentially kill them, or a nogump could eat them. 3) Last but not least, we're all playing the same game, getting bogged down in who is getting the better end of the deal overlooks the fact that many epic players have already been on freedom for a long time, they just can now play on the accounts they themselves spent time working on, and freedomers can travel to epic and explore the servers, take part in valrei scenarios, and fight valrei mobs (there'll also be more coming too, but shhh). Worrying about someone else catching up to your skill, trashing your neighbourhood, or someone getting the better end of the deal (either way) overlooks that you now have new people on BOTH clusters to play with and get to know.     I want to sincerely thank the wurm team for making our epic characters usefull again. I have played 350+ days on my main account and for a long time I thought all of this time played was totally gone since our cluster had an incredibly low playerbase. Many of u know my forum reputation isn't the best around and I'm this never sober retard kid. I have complained a bit over the years about things, like the hardcore nerf of libila, the reset of our lovely elevation, the toxic that playergods were/are and probably much more. But I think it's time for a thanks now, for the first time in years I feel like we are all being treated as equal wurmians. And with all the sweat and work we epic folks put in our accounts, I think this is more then fair. We might have 2x skillgain and this curve thing but we also dealt with horror things like Valrei events that destroyed months of work deeds in a matter of a few mins. Or going out and having 10+ drake spirits spawn on top of us. Times weren't always easy but after all I really enjoyed wurm all these years. And when I finally gave up on epic and came on this totally non skilled account to freedom, this news comes up. I'm sure u make a lot of people happy and make a lot of people come back. We are all wurmians after all and we all deserve to have fun with eachother together, no matter what cluster we picked in our noob days. Happy wurming and thanks again o/!

    so theres a bug that causes your character to leave world instantly when reconnecting while on an enemy deed, and it happens like 80% of the time and theres a mechanic that makes your scale/drake drop to the ground when leaving world with enemies in local on epic and since its more likely that the mechanic will get changed before the bug ever gets fixed ( has been reported at least two billion times) i'm suggesting the mechanic be removed because its pretty stupid to lose the gear you're wearing to a bug(anyone can just grab it when it falls on the ground), or reconnecting and then dying because you're no longer wearing armor

    Today I arrived on Release to find several people out and about. Apparently planning to head to the Fire and Sand Impalong on Exodus. Today they had to overcome 4 random challenges. make 50 wood scrap, tell me where to find a demon when it is not at work, locate a naturally flat tile, and finally defeat 50 Snargloffugus! They succeeded at all challenges and have won a very random assortment of gear consisting of lamps, tools, and food. Enough stuff for anyone to start a concession stand along the road! They have enough Snargloffugus to feed an army so stop by and maybe they will make you a tasty sandwich!

    remove hota it's been causing a ton of issues on new ele and pretty much forces everyone to focus around the center island, preventing people from freely deeding and expanding where they wish It turns roam pvp into this forced version of pvp where people show up for a scheduled event You pretty much need a presence on center island to participate, it's near impossible otherwise since you need to pass controlled chokepoints increase chest spawns to encourage more roaming maybe, idk rifts are already basically a moving hota so we don't need that old static relic from the past anymore thx

    No, the first rule of unique club is, YOU find it, YOU reap the rewards. Your suggestion is clearly intended to turn unique fights into welfare loot, like Rifts. You want a light in the sky to show you where to go for free loot. No.... find it and earn it.

    Creation rare always goes through if you succeed craft action. If continuing and getting a rare it's the same as if the part was rare. Using rare part to continue forces a window, but doesn't effect the naturally occurring window, unless you're lucky/unlucky enough to hit the window when you were already using a rare part. 20% to go through and must get skill-gain and not damage are the two different ones i've heard. Imp rares are so low chance I've never even bothered to check which ones right. 10 part item is 10%, 5 item is 20% and so on. Rare window when continuing is the same. 1% is correct. c right click body manage settlement info, look under faith bonuses.

    If many epic players have been on freedom for a long time, then there will not really be NEW people to play with and get to know on freedom. In summary, freedomers will not receive any skill adjustment when portaling to epic meaning more time grinding with less skill, while epic players will take a small hit and then have 3x all the way back to original skill level. I fail to see the fairness in it.

    Reading the current wagoneer mechanic, it seems that if you want to have a wagoneer on your deed then you forfeit the right of KOS. The only way that would not happen is if you place the waystone on the very border of your deed, and let's face it, almost everyone has a fence or a structure on the very border. Secondly, if you want the deliveries to be done on deed, then you need to place ANOTHER waystone on your deed, forfeiting the KOS right again. Having a wagoneer and the right of KOS should not be mutually exclusive Also would be interesting to know how fast will the wagoneers be moving and if you will physically see them on the roads, that would be nice.

    Chance in first case is actually 0%, rarity of materials is not checked at all for things requiring just two materials to create. Second statement is true - any rare material or hitting a window gives 1/(amount of materials) chance, so 33% for 3, 25% for 4 etc.

    Rolf can't discuss his plans much for legal reasons, but I do have a friend or three in his area and they got me the following information: Apparently he got into some trouble for digging up his street's sidewalks to "fix the slope", the judge didn't agree with "deed it or lose it". Also some trespassing charges after being spotted in several neighbors' yards brushing their dogs, judge didn't seem to agree with "It was wasted AH exp and they should have set their roles right". Making matters worse, however, seemed to be his third time in court. Sources say that he built a small (unlicensed) sailing boat, which so far was just a misdemeanor. However, at a point he sailed right into a Swedish Navy base, moored at a random point, ignored the guards as he walked toward the exit only replying "I need an on-deed spot to avoid decay!". He then proceded to tear down one of the perimeter fences after finding himself locked in, once again saying to the authorities "deed it or lose it". A fourth set of reports has Rolf illegally cutting down trees and hunting in a protected area. When the authorities finally caught up to him in his illegally built cabin in the middle of a national park, his defense allegedly was "I needed furs for my bed and this is unclaimed land. Deed it or lose it." The remains of three bears, five wolves, and a short bignosed ugly guy were dug up from behind his cabin. When confronted in court about those he said: "Stupid RNG, takes a while to get a good fur. As for the short guy, stupid goblin aggro'ed me and the templars hadn't spawned yet". Will update on that verdict once it's out.
