I thought I made a post about his looong time ago, but can't find so I'll post it again. There are times when with groups of people waiting around and can't do much, but wait. Sometimes standing around waiting for others to get ready to meet up. Most of the time I keep a fishing pole to fish, or can do some quick carpentry grind, but there is no interaction with the others that are waiting with me. I remember when I played Ultima Online you could craft games or buy them from vendors. These games had no logic and were just board games and pieces that people had to setup. Games like Chess, Checkers, Backgammon and Dice in a Cup. The game wouldn't keep track of anything, just raw pieces with a window that popped up where you can move the pieces around the board. If the devs could put logic into the games then that's cool too. We carried around dice for loot rolls, but I know Wurm has /random. Be fun at imp-alongs and get-togethers also. Another idea would be to mail the board game to another person like "chess by mail". Send the game back and forth. Something to look forward to in the game. Interaction with others. As long as it's a physical game that can be carried around or put on a table (floor in Wurm) and play with others. Just thought could make a table that has a check board built into the table itself.

You cannot copyright other peoples works. Modifying a texture to apply to a wagon does not mean it is not their intellectual property, you would have better luck redoing the artwork yourself.

instead of (is a solid and looks like kindling) wood scraps which in all fairness is a bit silly.... Why not (which is a thick melt-able material that has been used as a fuel source.) animal fat? Which is obtainable from most animal mobs.

Always loved omok in maplestory. certain mobs had omok pieces as a rare drop from kills, and you needed 100 of two different types of omok pieces, and an omok board to make, was so proud of my set. Minigames would be a lot of fun, and also be a great excuse for why i spend most of my time standing still

For those of us seeking a more natural design. The wood plank "curbing" could be used to design lovely public parks, trails, outdoor gardening and farming beds (1x1, 2x8, etc) set off by the woodchip or log crosssection "paving" Will look lovely once we get those handhewn log housing options, which I am sure will be out sometime after the LEATHER & FUR Wurm Spring Fashion Show 2018

I cannot drive a cart over the tops of my left/right staircases. I assume because you can drive over ladder tiles that have gaping holes in the middle of the floor, this shouldn't be a problem. May or may not be a bug, but I think it's an unintended feature. Also, I can't resolve this is any other way, except a tunnel which I will reluctantly do if I have to..... (or another bridge that switches back down, but I don't want that). And I don't want ladders, because these staircases are much nicer to the eye.

Since we have this fancy new preparing mechanic for paving bridges and cave floors, I think it would be wonderful to be able to prepare rock tiles so that you could pave them. It would come in handy to pave roads without having to drop dirt, and make things look ugly alongside a mountain, especially now that the work around with planting and chopping a tree down was fixed. Mortar on Rock = Prepared Rock Tile Prepared Rock Tile + Pavement = Paved Tile To remove, use crowbar (or pickaxe), and pry/destroy the pavement + mortar underlaying.

It would be great if we could get a new breed of cat, a non-aggressive one - we could call it house cat instead of wild cat. Maybe one of those white fluffy ones They can help themselves to meat or fish in unlocked fsbs like real house cats do, jumping on counters and snacking, etc. That means they can be kept in a house and as long as you have food in your fsb you don't need to worry about dropping meat for it, which would make it a very attractive pet.

Some of the posts on this forum that I have seen about other peoples' deeds and projects were simply mind blowing and amazing. There are enormous projects with so much time, effort and money invested in them that it's barely believable anyone would have that kind of passion for a game, but I understand why: This game is unique. With all the chains of restriction every day life wraps around us as people, the universe of Wurm offers one major escape from that: Freedom. We each have the freedom to completely decide on our own lives and journeys, and absolutely nothing is forced on any of us. Whether we want to roam the lands as hunters, devote ourselves to a deity, lead armies of warriors into battle or build majestic palaces - it is all possible for us here in Wurm. I have had the pleasure of being introduced to this game by a very supportive friend, who encouraged me to keep playing after my first deed plan overwhelmed me. Instead of an isolated valley with no support or connection to the outside world, I have now found a little island at O8, Xanadu, which I called Lonely Isle. (Motivating name, isn't it?) Anyway, while my journey will most definitely not be as majestic and impressive as those of many others who share here, maybe there are one or two people interested in seeing what new players are up to these days, so here goes my very first project: The Lonely Isle As I have already mentioned, The Lonely Isle is located on Xanadu, O8, pretty much right at the central Western shore. The annotations are alliance annotations from the alliance I joined, so please do not mind them, as I don't know how to turn them off. The black star annotation is my deed. Let me give you an idea of my place first. Unfortunately I couldn't deed the entirety of it yet, because of a little one-tile shed that was half decayed in the middle of the island with nothing around it. I shall call it: Shack of Delay. It also came with a bit of equipment at about 50 damage - including a rare large barrel. My first rare! I have a great view towards Newspring Island as well as in the other direction from here. It's a nice, small island with a mine underneath it which I haven't yet explored. Since I'm on an island, I decided to begin my journey with a lot of gardening and forestry, gathering sprouts and flowers in order to be able to replant what I will cut in the future. Here's the "corner view" of my upper island. To be very honest, I have barely paid attention to the lower parts of the island so far. The plan for the island is to make a dark sort of evil and unwelcoming place that still maintains a magical aura. Yea, I don't really have any exact idea for how to achieve that yet either but I'll get there. First couple of days are most likely just going to be creating some basic things, foraging, botanizing, exploring the area. After that I hope to wait until the house decays in order to deed over the rest of the place and plan the deed in the deed planner. If anyone has any helpful tips or ideas for this, please don't be shy and give me your ideas! I'll also be using this to journal my life in Wurm, since my Wurm Blog website is currently still under construction, so you guys will have to put up with me posting here for now

Right now it takes 512kg of dye to paint the new bulk storage unit. Kinda excessive... Please consider lowering this to match the bsbs if possible. Also it would be nice to be able to paint the new storage racks, bee hives, and maybe the dark wood furniture thanks.

Getting tired of seeing carts, wagons, and boats left haphazardly around coastal areas, or even on-deed? For Carts/Wagons: create a new item or type of tile that can be placed by a deed owner. Drivers of carts can right-click it, select "Park", and the cart will be moved into that area nice and neat and straight, similar to what happens when you hitch horses to carts. For Boats: Create an item (Dock Cleat maybe?) that deed owners can place on tile edges next to water. Boat drivers can right-click the cleat and select "Moor", and the boat will park next to the shore nice and neat (not up on the dock or crashed into shoreline). Deed owners can have settings that specify whether citizens, alliance members, and non-citizens can moor boats on-deed without using the cleats, essentially making deeded areas possibly private docks (but totally up to the deed owner). You could even get crazy and assign cleats/spots to specific people - reserved parking!

What I find the most interesting is that a person is threatening with a lawsuit for people using artwork made with images he does not have the copyright to. You would had gone much much farther by nicely asking people who are using your packs to stop. They might have been more willing to comply. You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar, even more so when you don't have a leg to stand on.

Not against that. Personally I always wondered why missions had the arbitrary bonus of 30 mins SB per mission, capped at 4 hours. I didn't understand why 4 hours, why not 3 or 5 . For long grinds tbh, I'd change it so missions give you Halfpowders instead of SB if possible, that are coded to not leave inventory unless you want to destroy them (similar to the "discard" options on rocks and trees). Half powders could be consumed at any time for a 30 mins SB gain, capped at the old 4 hours mark, meaning if you have 4 hrs 01 mins of sleep bonus, half powders wouldn't have any effect. But that's beside the topic in a way, and I'm not sure if it would create more issues. Just a random thought. Addendum: Halfpowders would be non transferable between players meaning they couldn't be sold by people spamming easy missions. Just hard coded to each player.

back to the baseline; just because they were royalty free, doesn't mean they are yours. You cannot copyright a royalty free image that you changed a bit. If the modder here can take the image and mod it and say " but it was royalty free! " then so can the next guy over who put it on his server. It's simply not able to be copyrighted unless the very, very original owner decides to copyright it, in which case the wurm unlimited servers in case would ALL be required to take down any texture that includes the images. Altering an image (in this case, cutting it to fit onto the wagon) doesn't count the same as being the original creator in terms of copyrights. Which is what this whole threat is about. And yes, I know, that one image isn't the only one. It just popped up on " white unicorn moon " on google, so it was the easiest without reverse searching. I don't really wanna search for " half nude batwing lady " if I could avoid doing so.
  42. 1 point
You cannot copyright images that you do not own. You cannot threaten legal actions about copyrights on things that you cannot copyright. This legal action threat is a lot of hot air and holds no ground. It maybe rude in your eyes that people use the textures, perhaps they just happened to know how to use photoshop also and found the same image and did the same thing. Is it rude and no morals that you took the PMK images and pasted them onto the caravel sails? Those were made by players of wurm and you just took them and used them on your own server.
  43. 1 point
Its about the pictures you put ontop of the textures that you found on google, not the textures out of the wurm packs that you put them on. You cannot copyright an image that you did not create just because you were the first to put it on a wagon. Infact, those images you are using may have very well been copyrighted and NOT permitted to be used inside of the wurm online / wurm unlimited game. I would be careful by pushing this into real life legal action because it might very well backfire.

@RetrogradeCurrently I had an eligible tile that was made non eligible by curb around the central tile, i also have a section on my deed with an enchanted oak and a section on an allied deed with enchanted oaks all along the middle of the deed, both of these are not able to be connected now. So can we have less restrictions on what counts? If 3/4 tiles are correct and one is a tree surrounded by curb could that work so we don't just all have plain boring highways to adhere to this new system but can decorate the central tiles? Perhaps even allow enchanted only to give some use back to that dead meditation power? Can we also find some sort of allowance for double cave entrances that are not connected as shown in the second picture? Example of curbed enchanted oaks down a central boulevard Exampe of decorated central tiles including a curbed off token and mailbox next to a curbed enchanted oak behind that is a curbed hota statue leading into 2 cave entrances that continue the highway. and finally a question: If a highway leads to the edge of a deed and terminates at a waystone due to ineligibility and resumes at the other side from a new waystone leading onwards is it considered connected by the system? Can you find a route to a deed after the break? If not and you refuse to adapt the system to allow such decoration can you improvise a method that we can retain the link between waystones so people can use the find route system and not get blocked by deeds that require a break due to their paving decorations? I'm not going to change my central token area by removing all decoration to accommodate this but I would like to use this new system, I'm sure a lot of other people have a similar situation that is putting them off using this

Ok, shameless plug time. Video of my grandaughter singing at a recent gig she did (local bar) and posted to her facebook page. It's the first second vid on the page. Not the greatest sound quality but sounds great to me. (of course my opinion is majorly biased, lol) Give it a look see anyway. https://www.facebook.com/meganjademusic/ The song is Amy Winehouse's Back to Black edit: lol. It's the second vid on the page now, the one at the Silver Lake Lounge. There's a new one up now, (good one too, imo, Purple Haze) from another gig at the Lexington, downtown L.A. One of the premier dive bars. Dive bars are a thing now, they're even advertised as such. hehe

I think the system overall needs a good evaluation, that's all I'll say because this is a very touchy subject to discuss. Personally I don't see a quick fix either to help new players get interested in the game. This game is very hard for someone new usually, it takes a long time to understand everything, most don't want to learn and move on to WU or something else. One amazing tutorial can only do so much to help them. I used to play a game where the game would automatically match you with a mentor that you could ask for help at any time, it was a lot more personal and felt better than a giant help channel that feels overwhelming for a new person. I'm not sure this game has the means to do something like that, it would be nice though. A lot of games have a similar system like this FFXIV comes to mind with the mentor system and the new/returner chat. Some people really just want to be spoon fed and no matter what you say they'll end up leaving because its to hard or slow for them. Most if not all new generations of gamers are super lazy, and want to play games that are fast paced and high octane. They cannot be bothered to go dig for a month, that's like "work" for them. Only by changing the entirety of the game or creating a new type of game system will this game ever get those types of players. I have some ideas I'll post below to change or create a game system to get some of those players. I'm not for making the game easy for someone that wants instant gratification. However some changes could be made for WO, I like to think of them as QoL. Things like baking stones, I don't see why they cannot be made out of normal stone. This topic about them really comes up often it seems, same goes for mortar pestle. So how do you get those fast paced players into Wurm? Is it worth it? You could create a system sort of like Rust, maybe change epic or do something like the challenge map. Every week the game gets a full map reset, but everything is super fast, skills are balanced and unable to be raised. Item caches spawn throughout the map and are able to be captured. Building just takes materials and is basically instant. So the idea is fast paced pvp, faster then challenge even. I think this game has potential for something like this but could do with a better combat system first, challenge was a good experiment for something else. People will start playing that high end game play and some might try the slow paced version that is WO. I vote kill epic move those players to chaos/freedom and replace it with that. This idea is one of many but it would be a quick solution for player retention. Thanks

You guys make no sense at all. Like you have to down vote it because you have too much to do already? How is that even a response to the suggestion. And then "make your own". No ###### and I would if they were in the game to make. So if they made a checker game in this game for others then you are forced to start using it while you grind on your deed? I swear Wurm community been getting worse and worse. That's why I don't post much anymore on forums.

It's a lot of questions, but i'll do my best to answer them all. Altar influence has at least 2 effects that I'm aware of. One, it increases spell casting power. You can see in the simulations in the OP that I added a "Altar Bonus: 60" - this comes from being within 10 tiles of a 90QL altar. It assists in getting a higher power while casting. Secondly, it increases combat effectiveness. I'm not sure how, but it is at least mentioned in the combat system. I know it does not affect damage, but I believe it may affect hit chance, block, parry, or other factors. I'm still in the progress of fully unraveling the combat system, but it does something for combat. It's also worth mentioning that the combat bonus is for all gods, not just Magranon/Libila. I actually don't have a good answer for this. It's really hard to determine the formulas because I haven't looked too deeply into the economy. However, I put the code for the sacrifice bonuses here if you would like to try your hand at deciphering it, or have someone else look at it. I will try to revisit it and truly understand it in the future. Notes: woodAffinity = vynora, metalAffinity = magranon, clothAffinity = fo, meatAffinity = libila. I think foodAffinity is Fo, and potteryAffinity is vynora, but i don't know it by heart. I was curious how this worked too, so I spent almost a whole day trying to figure it out. Here's what I discovered: Every second that you are logged in, the server rolls a value 1-3600. If you land a 1, you get a "rarity window" (Note: this means you should get 1 rarity window per hour on average). The rarity window lasts 20 seconds. This can be increased by up to 10 through the deed Enchanting bonus. When you take an action in the rarity window, you get a "Moment of Inspiration" drumroll, which goes down this list: If you are improving, and damage the item, nothing happens. If you are improving, and you get a skillgain tick (this is rarer on higher quality items, at least in WU), you succeed. If you are creating an item, you succeed. In most other actions, you will succeed. Upon success, the following occurs: You have a 1/1000 chance of making the item fantastic. If that fails, You have a 1/100 chance of making the item supreme. If that fails, The item is rare. Exception when improving, it appears to roll a 50/50 chance as to whether to make the item rare in the end. This is unconfirmed. Hopefully this is the answer you were looking for. I feel like you may have been referring to something else that's Wurm Online related, but this is how it works in the Wurm Unlimited code. Sadly I can't confirm this, and looking for where it might occur could be any number of places. If I stumble across this, I'll mention it, but to my knowledge enchanted grass has no special effect. Repair isn't something I've looked deeply into. I'll have to poke around and get back to you on this. I'll have to look more closely into how decay works, but from my (relatively poor) knowledge, all wood types except for one (cedarwood I think?) decay at the same rate. Again I actually don't know the answer to that one. As for improving success, all wood types are identical. Material type is not checked in the improvement code. Chain armour made out of other materials is only cosmetic. Iron, seryll, glimmersteel, etc. chain all function identically in terms of damage reduction. Having a different material just gives you that extra swag that charms the beast into going easy on you. Thank you for your questions and if I can clarify anything further let me know.
