    Crystal Bay Estates - Finndar Hi Everyone! Patch day has come and gone, and the java update issues have been addressed. We're aware of the horse and cart issues, as well as the water sources, and will be looking at that over the weekend. There's lots to share this week, so let's jump in! But first... Valrei overhaul So we mentioned we'll be sharing some more details about the valrei system and the planned overhauls some time ago, and now it's time to share! So let's jump into it. We have some planned changes for Valrei, the mission system, and Epic in general. These changes are well underway and due in the next few weeks to a month or so. To start off, with the larger number of player gods that have been added to the game over the past few years, it is necessary to look at how those gods impact the Valrei board. Coming with this set of changes will be player gods being removed from the Valrei board once they are changed from demigods into full gods. When a player uses a Key to the Heavens, they will still be added to the Valrei board as a static entity paired to their god, but once their god wins a scenario may become a full god and removed from the board. When this happens the player god will still generate missions for players to complete, but these missions will not directly affect the Valrei board in any way or give scenario points. Scenario rewards are also being changed slightly. Coming with this update will be a requirement for players to be premium in order to be rewarded scenario points as well as karma upon completing a mission. If the player that participated in the mission is non premium, they will only be rewarded karma and sleep bonus, but not scenario points. At the end of a scenario, there will be 3 tiers of rewards The top tier will be available to those with the top 20% of scenario contributors, and contain the highest rewards of a single use tome, or a small chance of a Key to the Heavens or dragon egg for those in the top 5%. After this tier will be a second set of winners for the top 50% of contributors where there will be 3 prizes of a yet to be announced item. The final tier for the full 100% of contributors will have 5 chances for either the above unannounced item, or a moon metal lump. This will only impact the Epic servers, as Freedom does not receive scenario rewards. In addition to the above is a full rework of all mission types, difficulty and rewards. Some existing missions will be removed, some new mission types will be added, and we’ll be going over all mission types to make sure that their difficulty to complete, and reward amounts (of karma, sleep bonus and scenario points) scale properly to the difficulty of the mission. As a larger overall change to this system, the difficulty tiers will be changing from a system of 1-4 to a system of 1-7, where the difficulty of the mission is determined by the number of successful missions in a row for that god as opposed to the number of source items that god is currently holding on Valrei. This means as more missions for a given god are completed, the difficulty and rewards of the mission will increase. This applies both to Epic and Freedom, where an additional bonus on Epic will be increased help for the given god, reducing their move timer more depending on the mission difficulty. Similar to now, some missions will be available in friendly territory, and some will be available in enemy territory only according to the difficulty. As mentioned above, the sleep bonus and karma rewards for participating in a mission will be changing from a flat 1000 karma and 30min sleep bonus per mission, instead scaling with the difficulty of the mission with the very low difficulties giving less than the current defaults, and the higher difficulties giving more than the current defaults. There are also more changes planned for Valrei and Epic in general, but we’re not quite ready to release details of these changes yet. More info about these will come in the near future. All caged up A long requested addition is the ability for creatures to be loaded into vehicles, and I have a very special surprise this week, without further ado... That's right, in a coming up date creatures will be able to be loaded into cages, and onto vehicles! Different creatures will take different volumes, and they will need to be led prior to being loaded (meaning no ships full of spiders!) Upon crossing servers they retain all info about traits. Parentage and cared for status will return upon returning to the original server. Highway testing push we're gearing up our public testing of the new highway system in anticipation of releasing it with the next big update! We'll be looking at how best to organise public testing, but the best thing you can do is jump on the test server and play around with paving the catseyes and building highways!     So, I presented one of my random ideas in GL today, and it had a rather positive reception, and was convinced to post the idea here: My idea is to have Flaming Aura enchant on a pickaxe, automatically smelt ore into lumps as it mines. The power of the enchant would affect how often it smelts, for example, a 1 power enchant would smelt approximately 1 / 100 ore, where a 100 power enchant would smelt all ore mined. This reduces downtime when heavily mining, and gives a new viable enchant for Pickaxes. Thoughts?

    I would like to suggest that mountains of a certain height have snow on the peaks all the time it would look better but also youd have a year round snow source for larders.

    Great event of good humored people and complete with pit roasts and baked goods. For the nature lovers out there, feel not any pains for the forest giant was taken down so quickly he never knew what hit him nor happened, he merely had been in the dark, upon cave opening he saw a bright light, went to it..and that's all she wrote. Alyeska gave us a special demonstration with a polar plunge and resurfaced with a fist full of bridle of yoink's loved one who tried to flee the relationship. There was even a small regatta rounding out the finish of events to the border and proof the world is flat for they all fell off and disappeared never to bee seen again on indy

    We are asking for the ability to mute people in alliance chat. If you dont have a largish alliance you wouldnt understand the problem. Sometimes people log in drunk, get in petty fights, etc etc. From your logic we should just kick them. Thats kinda more dramatic than muting someone in a channel. Since we cant see what village someone belongs to also we should just start kicking every village till we get to them. We are asking for the abilities to moderate the own community that we have created with others. They have it in every other mmo... this isnt something radical.

    This doesn't go far enough, you can really use this system to entice players to go Elevation. have a different Tier for HOME SERVERS and ENEMY HOME SERVERS. So to get a certain tier of rewards, you go home servers or an Enemy Home server. Elevation should have the top tier rewards to entice more people to come. Not being a prem won't help much with this, as they will prem the alts [as we do now] just to do them on home servers in saftey of a CR nerf to enemy. Which is why you see mostly mains on ele and alts on home servers. You have to make this choice now or rip. Elevation needs more Reason to consolidate the pvp. And Enemy home servers need to have a reason to be visited, this mission system could prove worth the time. Home servers need to give low tier rewards just to get a player good enough to start to go to elevation or even enemy home servers.

    You are correct parents and caring for is only retained on the origin server. Traits will carry over thou. Cages will decay at a rate of an iron item for the most part. As of now ageing is suspended while in the cage, this may and most likely will change.

Down below we have listed a bunch of the features our server we have: PVE: Server specs: -3 Servers -200 Slots - two 4096x4096 maps - one 2048x2048 hunting map The Team The Team is playing Wurm since now more than 15 years and this mostly excessively. Furthermore it also happens that both Dominikk and myself are versed in programming and specially Dominikk has already impressively shown some great features. Combined we have a service record that pretty much covers every server and gameplay aspect, we slayed Dragons on snowy peaks, fought great battles on land and sea, laid siege to impressive fortresses, made a living as merchants, worked as a low level staff member for some time, hosted events and constructed dozen of villages.     I've doing a bit of thinking and came up with a couple of things that we could use in game that can be built with already available items. If any of these are already in the works, then yay! Saddlebags Possible items needed for creating - 2 backpacks, leather belt, leather strips Usefulness - Would be ideal for placing items such as cotton, lunchbox/picnic basket, or other items found along the way to keep the inventory clear. They would also keep the player weight light in the event that the player would have to carry something heavy. Trophy Kill Displays Possible items needed for creating - fur or pelt, display stand, cotton strings Usefulness - Show off those first kills of wolves, bears, etc., with this display! Killed a champ bear? Put it on display in your home or great hall. Tapestries and banners are already in game. These can add the more 'hunting' feel to any lodge. Display stand (mentioned above) Possible items needed - shafts, small or large nails, possibly ribbons Usefulness - Can be used in displaying trophy kills and modified to fit other things later on such as collectibles or other animal parts.     Over the last a while this tunnel has been created (see history below). Current Status: passable by boat (rowboats, sailboats and knarr). Depth will be increased to allow all boats once the ore veins have been mined out. Cart access is available at points b, c, and d on the map - point a provides access to an underground harbour, and there is currently no western cart entrance (there was once access via the caves on the Winter's Night deed, but that has collapsed and left for anybody that re-deeds that spot). The bridge inside the cave at the western end is bugged (it has been named to warn people) so do not use it to cross to the footpath. Bridge is no longer bugged. There are lots of ore veins that still need to be mined out, so there will some weaving to do until these are removed. For those interested in helping mine out the ore there is a map available, see https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/12g02zThs1KFxJc7PhMRqtH3o2qhPnlUY9V41WrVy4Y4/edit?usp=sharing Some History Those with a long memory might remember this video from the Factional Fight brothers. Hopefully McGarnicle will stop by and flesh out the early history. When I spoke to him about this project he mentioned that somebody had spent everyday for over a month with an alt army working on the tunnel. What with burn out, and people relocating deeds in the year since the video, with only part of the tunnel with support beams, it was slowly decaying (not helped by a little bug that saw many tunnels have problems). Having used this tunnel a number of times, a couple of months ago while using it as a short cut to a rift, the tunnel was blocked in a couple of places due to recent rockfalls. With the help of Gatling and Merina the rockfalls have been removed, together with a few of the ore veins, and the cave walls supported. I have also put some lighting in, to help dispel the Grue and light the way around the ore veins. Some pictures of the tunnel, taken on a journey west to east.

    At least before EA ruined UO sad times qq... Moongates were random, but had gravity based on the moon phase. IIRC it was every 5 minutes the gates would shift to a random other gate, however the random code was manipulated by moon phases to make it even harder to predict, and sometimes annoying haha. There was always a naked thief there trying to steal your goodies, before the trammel days.

    Meet Snot Von Snotsberg. The first of his clan, he's come to Xanadu to stake out a life of his own. Like many newbies before him, videogames have taught him that running out of food on your food bar results in death. However misguided he may be, he certainly does enjoy having stamina. Here he is butchering something the guards brought him. The lucky dog managed to get a piece of meat above QL30 from that wolf! With a carving knife! Go him! After inquiring in CA HELP how to avoid food poisoning (how sweet!) he's informed to use his newbie bowl (which I swear was above QL2) to make a breakfast. And after whittling out that he can't use berries, a campfire is started. [18:50:16] You think this may well work when cooked. [18:50:16] Current difficulty:30. What a wonderfully easy breakfast. Once it's cooked, it's QL1.8, weighing in at .9. So, he eats up. And his food bar climbs from 33, all the way to 35 by the time he's finished eating. Oh. Thankfully, he's saved by the canine meat, which does get him all the way to 77 food. Had he not been so fortunate to butcher such meat, when he was averaging around QL10, he'd have been stuck not getting food as fast as he was draining it. Which is a little terrible. The issue appears to be caused by the food code, which is not easily posted here as it's a good few lines, being handled almost entirely by multipliers; so when it gets fed some small numbers like QL2, without an addition to save it, the foods restore very little. The suggestion is thus: put in a small addition to cushion low QL foods in their restoring of food. CCFP doesn't need it. If QL-scaling is decreased to compensate, be careful that this may unintentionally nerf Opulence, if I'm reading the code right. Alternately, make certain foods (breakfast, cooked meat, raw meat?) better at restoring food, but worse at restoring CCFP.

    On animals that suddenly become uncared for perhaps a change can be made to increase the time till they suddenly hack out a tongue and die? So your favorite venerable animal can be safely transported to a new server and cared for once unloaded. This will be a exciting feature, I do hope the large animal crates will not be bigger than a large crate, be nice to be able to transport 4 horses and a wagon in a knarr, where there is room in a standard knarr for a wagon and 4 large crates. Also it would be nice to be able to put these crates into a sailboat, would make for more interesting pvp I would think if you could crate 5 horses into a sailboat. Also for the new player in a rowboat to be able to transport cows/sheep/bulls/chickens/pigs.

    Would love to have a display case, like a taller coffer that you can display items with. In my mind you could put say the Midsummer mask in it and it would display laying on the top of it like you would see in a store front. I have event items all just stacked away with no place to be shown off & no real purpose for a collector (or shiny things hoarder like myself) otherwise in my opinion. Someday.. someday indeed, my rare silverware and cups will be delightfully sitting ontop of my tables.. but until then..

    Internal Shakeup Today I had to remove one of our Game Masters for violating our internal code of conduct concerning actions they had taken in the past. I had only recently been made aware of the action committed, and while the action itself was outside of the game and ultimately resulted in nothing as far as I know, the fact that it happened was not something I could support one of our team members doing. I have long held internal guidelines of conduct to which I hold our team members to a higher standard than I do our players. The action that took place I would not have even concerned myself with if it had been a player that committed it. It is public knowledge what happened now, so I can say that the action that was committed was that one of our members who was a brand new Game Master at that time in 2015 was given access to a third party kingdom forum by one of their disgruntled members. Their regular member forums were accessed by him. He did not hack, he did not break any rules, he simply did something that had the potential to gain an advantage over an adversarial party in game. As I said, had this just been normal people I would not have cared one bit. His work with us has been solid in his Game Master responsibilities and I have nothing but good admiration for the energy and effort he has provided us. For now though, he understands his mistake and accepts the consequences. To stop the rumors... NO, he is not banned from Wurm Online. NO, he has not been "fired" He violated no rules, he only committed an out of game act that I could not support and as a consequence I have removed him from his responsibilities. Perhaps down the road he might be willing to return with a better understanding of what I expect of our team members. For the time being other team members are stepping up to help cover all the internal management and duties that he performed for us. Thank You, Wurm Online Team

    I approve. Alliance Leaders should be able to moderate the Alliance chat. They should also be able to appoint other people inside the alliance as Manager and give them the respective rights. Since it's possible in Wurm, I'd also love to have some kind of way to write in different colors as the leader - which can really help when trying to organize an event and lots of things are being spammed. Further more, the leader should be able to give permissions to people for editing the message of the day, it should not be a default possibility. The points that Killroth has raised are valid as well. We just hit 50 deeds in our alliance the other day and there are indeed times these features would be useful, particularly for people who use their alliances for more than just grouping neighboring villages together.
