Okay so as developers and staff members, it's inevitable that there will be times when people disagree with what we do or even hate us for it. I've learned to weather the hate in stride, for the quiet ones who reach out and thank me always carry me through. But... who do you hate the most? As an aside, this is just for fun. Keep replies light-hearted and funny. If you do have a problem or complaint, the best place to bring it up will be with one of us directly. I'm also asking for this because Firestarter has promised to find where I live if I make his job any harder. So please, please... (he scares me...)

Hey you saying that the hours of gathering the bloody seedlings and then even more hours of work creating shafts and making nails should not have some kind of reward for the effort, well F you, cause this change is nothing more than a big F you to whoever put the time into making this.

I don't care if I get 4 per trellis, I want my trellises to be harvestable, in season, when I come back to my main deed from the tedious work of digging dirt for the new Highways/bridges between Glasshollow and Linton. I have 11 hop trellises. What I don't want is come back in harvest season to find that all my 11 trellises are shrivelled/young.

I thought this was just some kind of glitch...but if they really put ages on the trellises...that's a step backwards in the game. It's on par with the 'You have to go around and gather hundreds of snowballs just to fill your larder with 99 QL because they don't instantly come out at 99 QL and if you don't have 99 QL, they'll decay out before even a couple RL days go by'. After 4 in-game winters of having to do the snowball gathering, I'm fast losing interest in bothering to stick around. These types of mechanics aren't fun, and are pure time-wasters. Now we have to maintain our trellises too because someone thought it was a good idea to waste people's time even more like this? For the record, I'm 60+ gardening, and 66+ forestry. This isn't an improvement. Are you trying to get your premium people to quit paying?

Like trees and bushes they go back to young, they don't die and disappear. If you are using them for decoration nothing changes

As some know (and have been asking!) the goblin leader on deliverance have been found and penned. By common decision from the team, the fight will be open to anyone wishing to get some free blood for mining potions. You can stand nearby, or join the fight if you are able to follow the directives (and not rush in) and have proper gear and skill (two handed weapon, 70FS, plate armor or better) Location - Time - Sunday, 28th May 2017, 20:00 UTC (22:00 CEST) Nota: Forgot to announce it, but of course the loot will be reserved for the Deliverance Hunting Group.

Why shouldn't that be a thing? Treliis need to be built, imped, you also need to forage for seedlings first.

Also, it's pretty unrespectful for you to tell me how i should be supposed to play this game. I don't want to "chill out" and play it the way you are playing it, i like to play it my way, and putting the blame for this on me is pretty ridiculous, i never even sold a single grape coming out of a trellis, just saying. And if you want to see things from my perspective, i started playing this game a year ago. I wanted to craft and sell things, except the game already had several people at 99-100 in basically every existing useful skill. And asked big money for their services. I basically dug out somewhere close to 200k dirt just to get my toolset and a chance to start being vaguely competitive into doing something. Made both my char and a priest from scratch, and after a year of work, they are still barely decent and not very competitive. Then cooking rework happened, i've seen this trellis thing and tought "OMG, finally a skill that most players don't already have at 100 is going to be useful, i get to have a chance to be very good at least at something, and maybe they'll make it even more useful!" Grinded gardening to 70ish in a few weeks and, step by step, i realized: - Spices were basically useless to have at high QL and anyway the market was swarmed by people having 90 foraging/botanizing and selling them dirt cheap. - Hops were basically useless because few people are making beer, they don't need hops for most kind of beers, and even if they do, 1 hops is needed for 64kg of beer, except a single recipe, and beer is bad anyway cause it doesn't age. All was left to get something out of were grapes, so i made this big grape farm (not even huge, 250 trellis aren't much compared to the zones with thousands of grape bushes) - Trellis got nerfed even before i could get a single silver out of my grape farm, gardening is back to be an useless skill, lol. So what? Poeple can farm 15+ crops of 100ql from a single tile without even raking them, and i've never seen a single player complaining about that, everything i've seen is 50% of players skilling their farming above everything else. So, gardening started to have a chance of being an useful skill too, and you decided to shut it down because that was a bad thing? You want to make it harder? put a QL requirement for trellis compared to yeald QL, don't just make them equal to bushes, we already have bushes, and that's another skill. Or at least, once again, if you're going to destroy trellis mechanics, make it so that gardening doesn't get back to be a 100% useless skill again?

Sadly, another reason to stay unsubscribed. Let's invoke the undying Runescape. I have about 1hr's worth of dailies, could make it up to 3hrs, but not doing them involves lesser profits, not outright loss. At least the trellises don't disappear if not tended, but if the timing's right (wrong), you "lose" it for that harvest season. Folks with jobs who have an hour or two to burn at the end of the day snuck into the rinse-repeat cycle of dinner-sleep-wake-poop-work-dinner-sleep will just find a game that doesn't feel like a second job, or in the best of cases WU. Way to scare off your disposable income and then dismissing its concerns. I found the "Xanadu lag makes upkeep cheaper!!!!!" reply quite unsatisfactory on that other thread, and while at the time I decided to stay quiet, my first thought was: "... until the upkeep 'bug' is adjusted to charge full fees while lag remains the same." Great game, generally awesome job by the devs. Praiseworthy even and that's no sarcasm. But you guys' sense of business honestly hurts my brain.

Sorry but no, Wurm is not like any games where you can switch systems and hope your player base will recover. Any bad and/or stupid changes will make players switch to a new meta they can easilly exploit (windows of opportunity(TM)) or just plainly leave the game. You should know better than anyone that some things need to be discused with the players, why some changes might be needed and how to allow a smoother transition than full harvest for 80+QL to you got ###### at young, wait for X time to have them very old. Something people actually complains about in that very same thread (or the need to increase the treillis farm). Bottom line, you need to find a balance between "It's our game, we will do as we please and you will deal with it" and "The customer is always right" (cause even if we aren't, we are still paying or going to stop paying for said game).

It's also a game that grows and evolves over time, what works when designed can often be seen to change when put into practice, as players find different ways of doing things and unexpected issues arise. Things can, do, and will change as the game goes on, old practices become replaced by new practices, and new systems sometimes need tweaking (both downwards and upwards). This is the same for any game, and failing to change at all would be far more detrimental than accepting that sometimes we need to change things after they go live.

Why do you need 100 times as many trellises? you're again confusing quality of life with "easier". Trellises were made harvestable with 1.3 when hops came in, and originally the intent was harvest amount to be quality based. We decided this would penalise low skill players more, as they'd need 80+ql trellises to get 4 harvests, so decided to go with age. Trellises still outweigh bushes in terms of space used, and also have the same age issues, complaining about hav ing to keep trellises in the correct age bracket would pose the exact same problems if you tried to do it with bushes. Trellises were not designed to be an easy min/max alternative, which is what seems to have upset people here. Those who use them as decorations and occasional harvests will see little to no change.

Ugh. I don't understand why you guys change your minds all of the time, based on this thread it looks like the unpopular opinion here. Need I remind you how often people get annoyed by random changes like this. Some are not even considered game breaking, to many to count so not going to even bother. We need more QoL not less... and who really is meta gaming trellises (why is this even on the Devs radar?) You already prevent so many on a tile, so what gives? I always thought of this as QoL and a safer way to pick grapes/hops. I can think of over 10 game breaking bugs that should be fixed, the biggest one is embarking glitch. So yeah I'm disappointed, with everything about this change. I now ask myself why bother? Now i'd need 100 times as many trellises = which will result in more item lag = and more server and local instability = which in turn will be more people frustrated about lag. You would think the to many object lag or embarking bug would be focused on but apparently trellises are some of the major issues. I assure you though it's just going to get worst now. Thanks.

Yes I tried to do most of my shots via horseback/boat on autorun/move so that I had a nice smooth panning shot. When i was on foot I actually carried around a couple of dead cows in my inventory to weight me down because I was running far too fast and it was jerking the shots far too much (downfall of having so much bodystrength! haha) Really glad you enjoyed it though

In my opinion, that's the trouble with the crowd funded games. At least those I've seen so far, like Shroud of the Avatar. It never ends, because then the funding ends. It's just one money grab after another, ad infinitum. Of course from day one, there's the promise and lure that "someday" it will all be free, so keep spending all your money on it in the meantime (and if you don't spend big on the game, you are some kind of <expletive deleted> who doesn't "care" about the game). lol. From time to time over the last couple years I've gone on a hunt for a game with the feel of Wurm, and come up empty every time. Honestly, the closest I've ever seen to the feel of Wurm is UO. One of the very first things I noticed and that sold me on Wurm is the similarity of "feel" to UO. Wurm is, imo, superior to UO in so many ways, although there are a few things I'd like to see in Wurm that are more like the UO systems. But as much as I loved UO, I don't think I could go back to the top-down (really more of a slanted view, not top-down, not sure what it's called), view now after Wurm.

The mechanic created made having a vineyard possible, why did you people go to the trouble of creating a system where you could plant 4 trellis on a tile in neat orderly rows if you didn't want anyone making something out of this system? Because of your change the hours it will take to prune this makes this entire system obsolete and nothing more than a fancy decoration now.
  26. 2 points
Well you just turned my hops area into wasted space, plus the grapes I started adding, roughly 1000 trellis's that I am not going to be spending hours on end 'tending'. The worst part is they are all ageing at the same rate and I don't think I will get much of anything on the next harvest that is coming up soon. You realize how much effort it was to make that many? At this point it looks like the best option for me is to pick them up and drop them on the lava pit and save the frame rate on the deed.

Keep pvp names out of regional names. This is a pve server, if crusaders want a local area named after them then all kingdoms will want that. If the pvp kingdoms means something for pvp players they can name areas on Chaos. I guess we can't keep pvp names out of the deed names thou. Not every bay or road need a name either, and it is not up to the mapmaker to decide over the community.

I find that these videos can make Wurm look better than it actually does in game. Yours in fact does this very well. Another thing I particularly liked about yours was the handling of the camera. Normally I can quickly get motion sickness from the way many jerk around back and forth, up and down "looking" at the views but you did it all very smoothly with little shifting around movements. Even moving down the roads sometimes you would just take a fixed view to the side to see the surroundings in passing. So I watched it all with no ill consequences. Quite enjoyable really. I have been on Deliverance since day one and will most likely never see some of these impressive sights and more, since I like to stay within my local area where I can always be safely tucked in bed at the end of the day. Not much of a traveler am I. More one to appreciate and contribute to natures wonders within Wurm. All within the eyes of the beholder and that is what I focus upon as one day slips into the next almost unnoticed, unless viewed within the context of time passed over the years. Safe Travels =Ayes=

Drunkenness: Taking a sip of alcohol increases your current drunkenness and restores a small amount of stamina. Size of the sip does not matter: Drinking 0.20kg out of your waterskin does the same thing as 0.008kg out of a reed pen. Conserve your wine! QL of the wine does not matter. Over time, your current drunkenness goes down. If you're drunk enough, you get a progressively higher chance of spilling the entire container you're drinking out of, so be careful! Being really drunk reduces damage from combat by 50%, but makes you rather ineffective in combat. Being slightly drunk ("tipsy"?) can make you slightly more effective in combat for some reason. If you reach maximum drunkenness, you get the "Drunkard" title. Alcoholism: Being drunk enough increases your alcohol dependency. If your alcohol dependency gets high enough, you get the "Alcoholic" title. If your alcohol dependency is high enough, being 100% sober can randomly cause you to get withdrawal symptoms that can make you fail some kinds of actions very severely. For example, doing 40 damage to something when trying to improve it. Being 100% sober gradually reduces your alcohol dependency.

What i'd like to see would be smaller fsbs and bsbs that allow you to load a single one of them into a cart or two of them into a wagon compared to the one fsb OR bsb you can load currently. this would be a nice addition for hunters as currently you can only choose to load one of them and have to keep the other part of it in a stacked mess of backpacks and satchels.

I know exactly what i liked of that system, that i could gather all trellis regardlessly and didn't have to bother checking if one was overaged or young, and i didn't waste my time and my sleep bonus making void clicks and losing time and patience in general. Now that i answered myself that question, i still see not even the slightest room for "abuse" in what i did nor any sort of flawed mechanic. I have just seen that my 2400 shafts, 400 seedlings (and 400 nails plus the 2800 slow actions to create them, the decdicated space and planting them one by one) were starting to paying off and give me something back for the effort. I found something that i liked and replicated it a lot of times, which, is usually what most players regularly do on wurm anyway, with all skills.

Do you guys realize that before this update basically nobody except me and a few other players used trellies to mass harvest in the whole game, and now, you're just also convincing me to stop? Been still a noob on most skills, i've seen the trellis rework, liked the idea and therefore raised my gardening from 20 to 80 in a few months, HOPING that, being it a recently developing skill, more stuff would have been added and it would have become more useful in the future. Instead just find out that most my work has basically been wasted because you decided to change your mind about trellies and made them become like bushes. I could have just decided to skill Forestry when it was giving insane amount of skills (and you were aware of the issue, and took a lot of time to fix it anyway, at the point that i was thinking it was working as intended) To be honest, i would have preferred to have QL of yeald depending from trellis QL than this thing. (maybe not 1:1 , somewhere between 1:1 and the 3x you used for some reasons in skill like baking, maybe something like 1.5x? because imping to 99ql is unrealistic) I would have imped all my 400 trellies to 66ql without a flinch instead of having this ridiculous bush-behaviour, at least i could have done it once and forget about it, and yeah, this is how much i hate chores. You want to ruin trellis regardless, ok, but at least come up with something to make up for it, gardening was already a really bad skill and now it became incredibly worse.

Bed is on the 3rd floor of the building. First floor is grass for the horses, 2nd is living area, 3rd is where the beds are. Lol! Fixing that now! On another note, I just spoke with a kingdom mate, and she confirmed the same thing happened to her, on a Canopy bed. she woke up with about 80% damage. Apparently its related to Canopy beds. Hopefully that helps narrow it down.

This weekend was really hot and full of adrenaline. I spent most time on new server KangaWU Adventures. Start without nothing is rather easy. But in combination with higher aggresive animals spawn and unfriendly slopes on coast line nearly everywhere, it changed into nightmare. Well, there are some parts of coast, where slope enable you to catch some breath. But all such places were sand beaches, full of scorps, trolls, spiders, bears, crocs and anacondas. Something like Wurm version of "Omaha Beach". First start I was placed near such beach. After few seconds of foraging one troll unpacked on me his tenderness. I started to run first deeper into land, where I met another trolls and spider and hell hound. It was time to turn it into water for safety. On beach some bears and crocs joined my peloton. And running race turned into swimming race. By some miracle I was still unhurted, so I was able to win that swimming race. But my stamina was dangerously low. With great luck I was able to find some less dense coast, I refilled stamina and even foraged/botanized some branches, iron stones and vegs to eat. With crude knife and crude pickaxe I started to looking for some suitable place to open tunnel and build some safe area. But good plan never works. Swimming by coast with too high slopes I was ambushed by submerged croc. With bite on my back I was unable to swim fast enough to run away. And slopes on coast do not let me run away on land. Well, red tunnel led me back to Botany Bay ... Second time I had in plan to be more carefull. I spawned into dense olive forest on slope around 30-35. Absolutelly blind and with climbing I started foraging. By set climb on/off I moved down. Soon I had followers, some spiders and trolls. With half of stamina I splashed into water and on bearshark. When bear stopped to follow me, I was near few tiles with low enough slope to be able to refill there stamina. But I had to catch breath quickly, as there were always close by some trolls or hell hounds, waiting to hurt me. Exploring coast line from water two times I was in situation, where my stamina was empty and friedly slope tiles nowhere around. I had to log off for few hours to refill some stamina. Eventually I returned to place, where I spawned as there were less density of beasts on coast and only one bearshark and none crocs/anacondas nearby. I opened tunnel close by water, deep enough to be able sail rowboat inside and still not deep too much. With some finesse I was able to catch breath on entrance. But what a bad luck, second mine tile was marble vein, with 11999 shards inside (my highest skill there is prospecting). So I opened second tunnel few tiles away, secured entrance top and sides with low stone wall and closed it by stone door. From that time I had some place to hide. Soon I discovered iron vein. To end of veekend I was able to build BSB and FSB there. My biggest problem was wood. With only some oaks rather far away and olive forest on ufriendly slopes close by, my source of wood is limited. Armed by large axe, I was able to kill bears and smaller animals. Slowly I gather enough wood to build rowboat. With boat and horse it was good timing to do more exploration and to locate some source of clay. Without clay one can't build forge and without forge there is not possible any serious smithing. So much for my weekend. Now I have everything I need to survive. Soon I will have shining plate armor as I sniffed glimmersteel veins inside my mine hide. Just without compass, it is bit harder to locate veins, than I'm used to. This server is hardcore and harsh. One small mistake can easily lead to death. And forget you will easily locate your corpse or your base. There is none map, none compass and only shape of crazy tall mountains can reveal, where you are. Perhaps with time we will know that land more precisely and we will be able to navigate there. And I like it. Nothing there is cheap, nothing is easy. On othes side reward is high too. I already have perhaps 30-40 rift shards, some rift wood and more than 20 small kill tokens. Soon I will be armed and armored in glimmer steel. But I fear I will like to stay there. Return back to common KangaWU do not attracts me now Zak

Sure. While this may sound like a "good" solution on paper, in actuality it would be a disaster for those who would be forced to move. Some people may not care or are maybe not as attached to their location as others, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that the majority of Xanites who haven't already moved away would be horrified at the prospect. I know that speaking for myself, I've put a lot of time, effort, and love, into my deeds on Xana. I love my location, my neighbors, my grotto & harbor, the terrain and proximity of my deeds to each other, etc, etc, etc, ad nauseum. The grotto alone took me over a year to create and it's still somewhat of a work in progress to this day. The very idea of being forced to just walk away from it all, try to find a suitable location on another server, and start all over again now after all this time and effort just makes me nauseous. I honestly don't know that I'd even try. That might be the incentive I'd need to try WU or find another game. I don't know what the solution is, but in the meantime the perma-lag on Xan is something I've learned to live with for the sake of, and love of, my location and my desire to stay there. For me, it's better than the alternative of walking away from it all. I will just trust that they are aware of it and working on it, and always keep my fingers crossed that someday they'll hit on a permanent solution. Closing the server is, imo, the absolute worst solution I can think of.

Choices do matter in wurm, what skills you pursue shape your gameplay, every dirt you dig and brick you place changes the world around you, you have an impact on the game in such a profound way that is not seen in any other MMO. Considering accounts are bought and sold means those who own the account never even made the choice, and this limits their abillity to immerse themselves in the game and feel more connected to the character. Adding the ability to change gender will actually allow players who have never felt connected to their character due to a difference in gender to fix that and begin to form an attachment to them, and the choice they make to change gender will matter to them far more than you. After all, what's a pixel or two when someone feels happier with their toon?
