So I've noticed there are dog statues and also dogs that feature in the hota statues but there are no cat statues in-game. Please add some kind of cat, mountain lion, lion.. feline-related statue whether it is hota or regular so that the balance between cat and dog people on wurm is restored. tyvm.

My cat is also hostile, I tried taming her with biscuits, but walking over my face at 4am clearly indicates it didnt work

+1 Also there's the weird thing of cats are hostile whilst dogs are not, which personally, in the real world I've experienced the opposite.

I'll pass the class changes along when I receive them, but I fail to see the point of complaining about changes when the very reason we release a beta is to help update mods.

Just some ideas: In the one of the female warrior and cat, I would probably make the cat bigger, more prominent. Just a thought.

Starting at K8 on your map, new cave canal going through the are to connect Echo to Nightmare lake, canal is named Harmony Pass. Rosengarde no longuer exist, the tunnel starts right bellow the name and is a straight line to the other side. On the west end you have the deed : Echoing Nightmare On the east end you have the deed : Sleepless Nights

So the idea is simple, add wooden scaffolding we can construct, deploy, take and redeploy to terraform high cave ceilings. Since adding building possibilites in mines, high ceilings are necessary for building multi story buildings and we can only flatten and mine so high. Can't reach the ceiling. So this is where scaffolding comes in, make it maybe a fine carpentry item that can be taken, moved, pushed and re-deployed around the mine so you can climb up and level the ceilings. For the sake of non exploits, should be a mine only option so people wouldn't use it for some unsavory pvp tactics. What say you?

I've seen a lot of configs and screenshots floating around from people that either run multiple clients all the time, or from people that have less than ideal hardware, so here's a post to hopefully fix up some configs so you're not looking at ugly things all the time in-game. NOTE: This guide is intended for low settings configs, for slower or older computers. Important settings for maximum effect in bold. When you load up the game, the launcher will come up. Click on the "Settings" button on the right-hand side. 1. Game Display mode: Personal preference. You might get some smoother framerates from playing in fullscreen mode. Change to Windowed with a lower resolution if you're running too slow. Resolution: If you can handle the highest resolution your computer can display, use that. If you're playing in windowed mode, you can make it smaller (makes the window smaller) without having everything get all stretchy. Refresh Rate: Monitor dependant. Everything else: Personal preference 2. Text Everything: Personal preference 3. Sound Everything: Personal preference. (Turning sound off may help performance when running multiple clients). 4. Graphics Terrain resolution: High. High in terms of terrain generally means about 512x512 textures. Most graphics cards can handle this, if your graphics card physically cannot, then turn this option down. There are only a few terrain textures needed to load, so it is worth the memory to have this all at high resolution. Water detail: Medium or Low looks fine. Set to low for fastest option. Water reflections: The reflection calculations can take up a lot, so turn this off. Tile decorations: Medium. The tile decorations are generally slow, but they have been improved recently. Lower this if you're running too slow. TreePosition render distance: Personal preference. I'd suggest turning it to medium for a faster config while maintaining some distant trees. Lower this if you're running too slow. StructureData render distance: As above. Lower this if you're running too slow. Item/creature render distance: As above. Matters more if you're in an area with a lot of littered items around (e.g. spawn areas). Lower this if you're running too slow. Avatar's animations: Personal preference. Animation quality: Turn to low or medium for fastness. Sky detail: Personal preference Cave detail: Personal preference Shadows: None Render cloud shadows: No Render distant terrain: Yes (turn this off if you're on a _really_ bad computer). Render tile transitions: Personal preference. May give slight performance boost, probably not noticeable. Render bloom ("glow"): No Render sun glare: No GUI Skin: Personal preference. 5. Advanced Graphics Maximum texture size (normal textures): 512 (Set to 256 if you're having memory problems - not if you have performance problems). Maximum texture size (megatextures): Does not matter - this is only used in the splash screen on start-up: Reflection Quality: Does not matter, reflections are turned off. Terrain/shadow resolution: Medium Texture scaling hint: Nearest Neighbour Bumpmapped Terrain: Personal preference Pretty trees: Yes (Turning this off has little performance effect for the huge change in graphics) Phobia Mode: Personal preference. Pretty weather: No Compressed textures: No (Turning this on tends to make things very ugly) Everything else: Personal preference. 6. Compatibility Everything: Don't touch unless needed to due to your hardware etc (outlined in other threads). Using the above settings, your game should look something like this: If you have any questions, or suggestions for improvements for this config, please post and let me know.

Elentari is a monster Hi Everyone! I hope you all had a good Easter break, I know I did! We're still in the follow up phase to our latest update, addressing a few bugs that have arisen as well as the usual post-live tweaks, but that doesn't mean we haven't been hard at work, but first... Patch Notes Reinforcing in style Reinforced walls are quite boring, and with the introduction of new house walls, our devs got to thinking.... Coming soon to a cave near you, we'll be introducing stylish reinforcements! These will be created with improved reinforcement beams and really decorate your cave! We're also looking at cave floors as well, but no confirmation on that yet. CA Help Merging following some back end changes for us, we'll be merging CA help across all freedom servers next update. once it's done we'll monitor it over the next week or so to ensure that it still flows smoothly and will be able to revert it if it proves to be too chaotic. With this done we'll also begin looking at options for addressing CA help on Epic servers, and will be working towards a resolution that improves new player experiences on Epic servers while still meeting our conduct requirements. WU beta We're still in the process of ironing out some bugs appearing within the new housing update, and once theyre done we'll have a beta up for WU, we expect that to be available within the week, with the live version following shortly after Gloomshade revamp Excited to play with the new walls, Enki and I had our turn updating the starter deeds, and this time it was Gloomshades turn! The HotS Elevation starter deed has been given a bit of a revamp, and I'm totally biased) Community Content This weeks community content I found while looking through the huge collection of WU screenshots, and it has to be the most amazing wagon design I've ever seen. I don't know what server it's from, but if it's yours, let me know so I can update this! Future PMK's, take note! That's it for this weekend, I hope you all have a good weekend, and as always, keep on Wurming! Retrograde & the Wurm team

What you don't even pvp What McLovin said works well enough too. Or change true strike crits to mini-crits instead of whoom now you're dead sucks to suck get truestrike ;^) its literally the worst tome to compete against. People shouldn't drop in a handful of hits isn't this what we were trying to distance ourselves from?

Did an export today to see if the new pavements/buildings etc were in. Which they apparently are and just don't export properly yet as mine all appear as wooden arches. That wasn't the issue i noticed most though...has the water level always been so far off when exporting? Once exported deedplanner seems to submerge the whole bottom of my deed

I was getting the same error. I solved it by replacing the new runtime, jre1.8.0_121, with the old one, jre1.8.0_60 It would appear that it thinks the java runtime is older than 8u20

Huge eggs won't be for this game... and regular size.. you can hardly put them anywhere.. or interact with.. (for the moment), this idea is a bit ahead of time IMO. Rather have pottery gnomes and garden bunnies, JS statuettes scaled up.. or metal statues.. eggs are too tiny to decorate with, if you have better idea what to do with them or where to place such, share some google-images for art-team.

    Hoppy went beyond just thinking of using the T-arch as a stand-a-lone and went with a double T-arch, I know he won't post a pic of his latest work so will do it for him, I really like the looks of the great room he did up. Me thinks he suffers from OCD as most wurm players do, I don't think I could of gotten those chairs lined up that well around the table myself. Oh and if anyone is wondering what the place looked like before he started the new build, it was a disaster;
  34. 1 point
So just to clarify, the steps will be as follows: Make 1 support beam Create the wall type you want with the beam Activate beam and right click reinforced wall > replace Wall receives wall texture, you receive regular support beam. rinse and repeat steps 2 - 4 it is NOT: Remove wall reinforcement Add new beam Walls will remain reinforced at all times and do not require removing them first. Adding new mechanics to change walls on reinforced walls open up potential issues and delays, this is simply adding new recipes that result in different types that use the base reinforcement beam as the starter. this is separate to house and fence types

the funny thing is... king crowns protect the face and none of them visually cover the face. in fact you'd hardly think this fabulous strip of silver would protect much at all but it's equal to scale/adamantine armor for balance reasons i'd think all helms should offer at least some face protection but i fear drake helms would be more of a meta requirement if they have reasonable enough protection or full protection due to movement speed vs a great/basinet helm so maybe have base damage for face/eye hits be as if it was fully protected, but then add some bonus damage to face/eye shots for being an open helm so it's an actual weakness and not instant death edit: for post below and others confused drake is the same protection as steel already

Well met m'lord! Well, I must say this is an honor to have you chime in Runesabre! I was playing the single player Ultimas back in the 90's, so when UO came out in 97 I was aching to be a part of the fun. Alas, I didn't get a good enough set up and connection until '99 which was when I started. Played UO for 13 years straight and my old UO website is still up and running. There seem to be lots and lots of old UO fans out there, because actually it's my UO site that seems to still bring me the most traffic out of all the things I've ever done online! Astonishing, the lasting power that it has. But is it any wonder? Surely UO was the best MMO ever created? I'm not sure if it's just because it was my "first love" of MMOs or what, but I declare that no other MMO to this day, has been capable of fully offering the wide array of experiences and emotions that UO did. So far, only Wurm has come the closest. Last year a funny thing happened that just goes to show how small this world is. A friend brought to my attention a conversation on Reddit regarding the UO fan art I used to do. My friend said excitedly: "Even Raph Koster commented on it, go check it out!". The funny thing was that little did he know that I happened to be the same starry eyed lady who pulled him aside and thanked him for his contribution to UO, only months earlier when he had visited Finland to hold a presentation. It is with those same starry eyes that I'd like to thank you Runesabre! I'm sure you don't need me to tell you, but I'll say it anyhow - UO has made a huge impact on a lot of people and was an astounding technological achievement for releasing something that demanding at that point in time. Without the engineers, it would have never been possible, so my hat off to you and the rest of the team that pulled that miracle off. It was an impossible feat which laid down the path for all the MMOs to come. Oh and so cool that you ended up playing Wurm. The developers insist that UO was not a source of their inspiration (or so I have heard), but the similarities are plentiful and whether or not that is coincidental or not, I'm so glad that they exist as it's part of what makes me love Wurm so much! Now back to finishing up Castle Britannia! I think Vesper will be next!

Hail and well met, Malena! I was one of the original Ultima Online engineers almost 20 years ago. Reading this post and seeing these screenshots really does bring back a lot of fond, frustrating, satisfying late nights developing UO. It was and still is a magical experience I will forever treasure and happy to see inspiring others even today. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Runesabre

I was home on Friday recovering from a bout of bronchitis. I decided to get on my horse, and take a leisurely ride around the entirety of Crystal Lake. My journey started in Crystal Bay, denoted in the black circle here. I went east through Grand Steppe, south along the eastern side of the lake, then around the southern edge over to S Mtn Road, and back. The journey took approximately 4 or 5 hours, with an extended break in the middle when the wife unit wanted to do some errands. Some screenshots along the way. East Crystal Highway, off the path, someone murdered around 100 trees. Oddly, the stumps were all gone, but the logs were still there. Saw a picket fence painted lavender, which I think works quite nicely with Wurm's natural colors: Found a chess board they had created - using statues for pieces, and turrets for the rooks. VERY creative. Kenolein's champion mountain lion was peeking his head out the window as I drove by. Cute kitty! Came upon someone playing with new housing textures, including this plain marble facade. Very clean lines. I liked this large grape vineyard, which had alternating rows of sand and grapes: On the shoreline, I found a MOB I didn't know existed in the game: a crab. 4 months playing the game, and I had never seen or heard talk of a crab One of Indy's more famous players is Darwin ("DOOM") and I happened upon his massive bison farm: Next door was a really interesting (to me) mine entrance. Note that the bushes are hazelnut, all planted center in two perfect rows. Inside this mine I found a sandstone node, too. While walking on S Mtn Hwy, I came upon two gift-wrapped presents. I have never seen gift-wrapped presents here. According to CA Telurius, these are really old. You used to be able to wrap something in a wood scrap and send it as a gift. These two items were on the ground with 99.9+ damage, so their time in Wurm is quickly ... wrapping up My final stop before home was this week's Rift site. The pic doesnt do it justice, because a lot was outside my clipping plane. There were thousands of pieces of filleted meat everywhere. An absolute slaughter.

I am pleased to announce that Rageed has been found safe and sound. He was lovingly lead back to the deed and is back again with its owner. On another note, we found Ayuna's corpse as well with all her belongings. We also found that the skid line from the top of the mountain she created on the way down with her face had been covered by the snows. It is, in the end, a happy ending. Thanks to those that helped!

Dang, nice necroing of that thread. After Enki's pristine hunt, I'd rather see an option to ask nicely the guards from the nearest tower where we are on the map. Location doesn't need to be really precise but that would help make sense of the in game map when the surrounding area changed a lot... and also help new players to create their own map / learn to orientate themselves without using 3rd party maps which are not always up to date... or with enough deeds to pinpoint your location. Dioptras already give us a quadrant, why not push the idea a bit further and add some extra in game interaction.
