Regret your sins, and prepare for judgement. It's Judgement Day in Wurm. There's a Jackal-Haven-Sol eclipse. In Latin: IHS, which means Iesus Hominem Salvator. The eye of te Lord:

Last wintertime was realy realy short. There are enough people that love the wintertime. Why do we get an unequal part in changes of seasons? Probably because the whiners that don't like the wintertime, cried realy hard in the past. Why do they hate wintertime so much? I can bring up 2 main reasons: Because they live in a country with a long period of snow and ice and they can't wait to see it end. Certain people don't adjust graphical settings like 'render bloom (glow)' or brilliance settings on their monitor. I can't help those people that live in countries with long winterperiods. But the 2nd one is just and adjustment everyone can do it by themselfs. I just want to ask Rolf to give those people who love the wintertime a fair share. Not a ridiculous short winter of 5/6 days but for example 10 days. Btw, i don't like autum for the "poop-colours" but i don't ask to make it shorter.

I think moss should be allowed to be planted at shovel digging/water depth. I would love to make a lagoon looking area out of moss but you can not dig moss down after it is planted and you can not plant it below the water line. I also like to use moss under bridges so if you were able to plant it in shallow water under a bridge that would be great.

When Epic first opened in 2011, I ported over one of my alts. I pretty much had a ball on Serenity for a while, until I burned out and left that alt semi-idle for six months or so. But a couple of years of relatively lazy play left me with a character who's skills, even without the effective skill curve, are reasonable in PvE terms, so I'd actually welcome a merge where I could port my Epic character, with a reasonable skill loss, to Chaos, thence to Freedom. Why don't I want to play on Chaos? It's not that hard to figure out, Chaos is, to all intents and purposes done, it's probably gone as far as it's possible to go in terms of kingdom domination, let's face it, Mol Rehan has pretty much taken over most of the server, and the population has dropped to the levels seen before the first hiatus, when Wild closed and became a Freedom server, (I lived on it for a while, seeing the sights, and exploring the decaying ruins of better times). Epic has likewise decayed, Serenity has become a ghost of it's former glory days as the largest server population in the cluster, but can still possibly rival the entirety of Chaos at times, but it's quiet and decaying as well. I spent some time on Affliction on another character too, both old and new, and frankly, that was a load of fun too, I love new servers, but it didn't help boost the population at all, in fact I'd say the population on Affliction is lower now that it was on Old Affliction. So what are we left with, two PvP venues, one cluster of 4 servers, which doesn't have the population to really justify it's existence for the most part, and one annex of Freedom cluster that's pretty much played out, old and worn down, again barely able to cobble together enough population to justify it's existence. A merge won't work, both Chaos and Epic will adamantly insist the other venue closes and theirs remain, maybe not all, but most, I can't see a way to fairly adjust skills between Epic and chaos either, so player merges and transfers are unlikely to happen, if they are even possible. So I say close both, Chaos and Epic, and build one decent sized new server for PvP, separate from Freedom, the way Wild used to be, no Home servers, (I loved the Home Server idea, but they were actually the cause of most of my disaffection with Epic, not the fault of the concept, but the fault of the friction between Home server and Elevation populations). Of course there will be a huge amount of resistance to that idea, it's probably more contentious than a simple merge of one or the other, but has the slight advantage of offering a new map, a new start, and might be more than just a bandaid, if other PvP upgrades and changes are also implemented as well, it'll certainly get rid of the whole idea that a merge will leave one venue at some sort of advantage. I'll personally be mildly upset at losing Serenity forever, I kinda liked it there, I also liked the Wild/Chaos hiatus, as well, but if something has to be done, and it involves closing servers, I say close both Chaos and Epic, Epic players already know how easy it is to start afresh, Epic probably has the most experience in fact, having started Epic, restarted Affliction and Elevation already.

I still don't see the bad side of converting skills to freedom on some kind of formula making it fair or just a solid -10 or -20 in skills that aren't obviously weird on epic, like body stamina and meditating, but a lot of people just tunnel vision it and act like it's suggesting to crucify babies on the supreme court steps. Some people don't actually have an agenda and just wanna have fun playing the game again :/ Like just think from a 'good for the game' standpoint how well it would be to be ONE world, if your friend plays it you could see him ANYWHERE in the game, you never need to decide where to start or settle because you'd have access to both pvp and pve with ONE account, that you spend ALL your time grinding on.

Epic: "Well, we wiped Elevation and PvP hasn't magically gotten better. Any other ideas?" Chaos: "Let's wipe it again!" Epic: "..." Chaos: "But this time, force them to move to a server that they deliberately chose not to play on, make them buy PMKs, and then let those landless, 5-person PMKs get kicked in the nuts by the bandwagoners that own the entire server. That'll make them want to play again!" Since Epic and Chaos populations are more or less equal (though at the time of writing this, Chaos has 22 people and Epic has 40), if we're really serious about a merge, let's do it in true Wurm fashion: leave it up to RNG. Flip a coin. If heads, Epic gets nuked. If tails, Chaos gets nuked. Loser has to move to the winner's cluster. And if you're not willing to accept the possibility of your own server getting deleted, you're in no position to demand that other people have their servers deleted. And besides, when you consider that 70% of Epic consists of home server players who aren't interested in that type of PvP in the first place and would probably choose Freedom over Chaos, and another 10-20% are Ele players who would quit after having their work deleted (again), Chaos would gain, what, another dozen people divided out over the US/Euro/AUS time zones? Hope that temporary boost is worth pissing off half of your PvP playerbase that you're trying so hard to resurrect. Truth is, Epic and Chaos are both suffering population-wise. A merge would be yet another bandaid and yet another mass exodus from the PvP side of Wurm. Just because it would help you does not mean it's good for PvP or the game in general. I'm not the type to throw out these types of threats casually, but a large number of people would quit from this. And when PvPers leave, so does the money that they bring in, and that makes it even harder for Rolf to justify spending dev resources on this side of the game. Then, the updates that you're all crying so much about -- you know, the ones that are supposedly going to revitalize PvP and bring in new blood before our servers die altogether -- will take longer to be added, assuming they even get added at all. Hasty, high-impact decisions are part of what killed PvP on Elevation, and they can absolutely kill PvP on Chaos as well. And I really hate to throw stones at other PvPers during times like this, but this has to be said: Chaos has long held the reputation of hosting some of the most exploitative, metagamey PvPers around. Not everyone, obviously, but enough for it to be a noticeable stain on what should be a proud, historic server. But since winning is clearly the most important part of any game, you have to stack everyone you can onto your kingdom, no matter how heavily you're already dominating the map (honor is for losers, like the Mongols). Drop empty war deeds everywhere so your enemies can't expand or drain without it showing up on Twitter, at which point you can teleport in from anywhere to defend. But because dying on Chaos means you also die in real life, this defense should include the use of throwaway alts wherever possible. The alts that you use to artificially inflate your fightskill and give yourself affinities will work perfectly for this. And if somehow you still can't win by doing that, abuse any and all bugs you know of, because lord knows Code Club won't punish you for it; hell, if by some miracle they don't let you keep your cheated skills or your bugged weapons, just throw a tantrum on the forum about "GM intervention," because everyone knows you're the real victim here. And the weirdest part about all of this is, we all treat this cancer as if it's such a vital cornerstone of Wurm PvP that nobody even considers the possibility of disrupting the Chaos side of things for the sake of this supposedly all-important merge. Instead, simply use Chaos's little brother as a guinea pig for new features which will eventually make their way to Chaos, and once you've squeezed all the usefulness and life out of him, absorb him back into the fold for your own benefit. Same song, different verse.

Maybe it's my system and GPU, but I think winter is a very beautiful season and invokes strong memories of my winters in the north. It is very realistic looking on high settings, the big flakes drifting down, the glisten of light on the snowfall, the way it drifts across the floors of the stables .. but most of all the beauty of big snowflakes cascading down and around me in the woods at night, reflected in lantern light .. I literally go out into the woods just to stand in it. If it gets much more realistic, I'll feel the flakes on my tongue and the cold on my upturned face. Winter just needs to be a week or two longer!

Inn Keeper NPC This NPC provides some 24/7 services which would be difficult or impossible to provide currently. Sold by Traders like personal merchants. Dispense Items The Inn Keeper can dispense items to a player at a set rate, allowing the price to be set low, or even free, without worry about a single player taking the entire stock. Item Type: The inn keeper sorts items by type (meals, casseroles, healing covers, cotton, etc.) and dispenses randomly from its stock of that type. Price: Per Item. Quantity: The number of items that can be taken per period per player, defaults to 1. Frequency: How often the quantity of items can be taken per player. Minimum of 1 hour to a maximum of 1 day. Stable Your Mount The innkeeper can safely stable your mount until you need it again for whatever price the Inn Keeper’s owner sets. While riding your mount, wagon or cart you go up to the Inn Keeper and choose “Stable my Mount” and you and any passengers are dismounted as the mount is placed in limbo. There after only that Inn Keeper has the option of “Return my Mount”. Only one mount per player can be stabled. To prevent mounts from being lost forever if the Inn Keeper is removed while the owner is away, the data should be stored on the player. If the Inn Keeper is removed, the mount simply reappears beside the player when next they log in. Rumors The Inn Keeper can remember and recite rumors. The Inn Keeper has a stock of "universal rumors" that relate game mechanics, lore, jokes or fun things from the staff. Option: "Let me tell you a rumor." The Inn Keeper will remember one rumor per player, telling them a second rumor will make them forget the last one you told them. Option: "Tell me a rumor." The Inn Keeper will recite a random rumor that it knows.

I've managed to get some better clarification on the error checking bugfix, it's not a nerf. When your ceiling in your mine was too high and you could not use the level command you got this error: [19:26:35] Lowering the floor further would make the cavern unstable. However, the error did not stop you from doing the action and you got skillgain while the timer was going. So clearly a pretty nasty bug that needed to be fixed quickly.

Graphics are platform-independent, nowadays you can use OpenGL with roughly the same syntax on both high and low-end PC as well as web and mobile and expect it to run well everywhere. The main and the only advantage C++ have over Java in this matter is more direct memory control as it allows to reduce RAM requirements a bit and remove part of overhead related to using OpenGL (which is barely noticeable in Java due to how GL methods should be used, aka "do it only when you absolutely have to"). Top-down view games are in addition usually much easier to optimize - as you usually don't look at things from 5m and below, there is no need for lots of details. In addition, Runescape terrain does not change.

It really just depends on how it is updated. Archaed updates the community map only once a month (not enough if you ask me), so it's usually outdated constantly. lol

Did you just decide the opinion of someone else? Of all the strange things you say that would have to be the most arrogant and presumptuous thing of all. If you don't like something that's your choice but to tell someone else what they don't like is too far lol. Some of us do happen to 'love' other seasons if you like it or not.

Only one entry for Green Dog, but that just makes it easy! Full album here: http://imgur.com/a/nZBux Deed plan must fit in with surrounding areas to look somewhat natural to the region : This entry is heavily based on the current Green Dog design, keeping both history and effort alive as well as showing what can be done in wurm. Fencing along deed borders : Deed is totally fenced in, excluding road and water way access, the core center of the deed with the token is well protected. Allowing enough protections for new players while keeping an open area feeling Religion Representation and trader locations : A whole new temple is accessible near the token (including altars of the new and old faiths), on the other side of the token will be the bartenders and traders. Keeping both religion and economic matters right next to each other as Deliverance always used to do. Recruitment Board and mailbox will be available as well in that core center. Allowing easy access to deeds for new players as well as an easy location to find a mailbox. Meditation : Current land design allow us to have both PoK and PoL tiles on deed. Design and setting will allow to keep those available for every player seeking to level their meditation. Those tiles being often removed otherwise by new players or neighbors. Fantastic Portal : Will be placed on the west side of the deed, towards chaos and the PvP lands, a reminder of Deliverance location and how it influenced deeds on the whole west coast. Crafting buildings : The existing building will be used for that purpose, allowing new and old players to work inside it, forges, oven and looms will be provided and improved at a sufficient QL. Sleeping quarters : Beds will be included on the first floor of the old community center and inside the new horses' pen and inn. Allowing once again new and old players to rest or log off when a restart happens. Examples of farmland or animals raised : Farmland are kept as existing on the actual GD design. Look and feeling desired : Deliverance is one of the old servers nowadays, many plans and changes have been done around green dog, the surrounding market place and overall area. Keeping that history alive is important to us and as such the most important features of the deed will be preserved as well as improved to show what is deliverance nowadays. Water and delians, Deliverance have plenty of water bodies but none of them were properly connected to the sea. We worked in the past years to fix that with canals, cave canals and nowadays bridges. Green Dog had to show this which is showed by the new river surrounding the city center. Attention will be taken to prevent drowning by allowing easy climbing from the said river. Signs will warn the new players about drowning. Creativity, once again Deliverance got plenty of interesting towns and even with the limitation on walls we had to show some respect to the great deeds of the past with their crazy design, terraforming and buildings. This is the main idea with the new town center, impressive enough while being lag free. Some trees will be present near the deed borders to allow any damage on the perimeter to be reduced over time. Lawn / deed design / oaks and willows will prevent excessive spreading while keeping a natural look for the area, as well as allowing those tiles to be foraged/botanized. A small resort with a focus on sitting and chilling around enjoying the view of the southern lake and the mountain in the back ground will be created near the PoL tile. Emphasis on trellis, hedges, statues and potentially bushes will be used to show the delians ties to natural looking areas and how they improved them over the years.

I've had some issues recently with Java Web Launcher crashing on me. Normally just when first loading in a client, but occasionally at random when i've been on for a while. It doesn't give any err_pid file on my desktop. Just this: As a sidenote, java is fully updated and proper. My console.log If it's useful: Forced a crash to get this windows event log. Hopefully someone can make heads or tails of it. Taufiq figured out that i'm an idiot and had one outdated 64 bit java, but fully up to date 32 bit java.. They were.....clashing....to say the least.

Can't have busy and raw, open, large in Wurm. When it's busy then it's not wild, when it's still wild it's not busy. What you can find though in busy areas are plenty of abandoned deeds, take one over, shape it as you see fit. Have a look around the road from Vrock Landing to Glasshollow I'd say if you want high critter density. Go more south when you want less mobs.

Additional answers to design questions: 6) Small server + faster horse/cart speeds leads to an even smaller server We made the server the smallest size possible in order to try to have population congestion with kingdoms butting up against each other. By making horses and carts 25% faster it should also lead to the server seeming even smaller. On a server where horses can go from one side to the other in under 10 minutes (with good traits, enchants and gear horses max out at about 50 km per hour currently) simply capping a tower can lead to an enemy rapid response force heading out in very short time once the tower capping messages start to be broadcast.

To be fair, all servers are on an all time low, that's nothing that's specific to Epic. Devs making changes to PvP mechanics on Epic will not miraculously revert that trend, in fact I believe it will do nothing at all to revert Epics population trend.

The problem with this is then the game would be trying to fool everyone. Its pretty simple... They need to actually deal with the fact players like hashi vortexx are hurting the game by exploiting the brokenness of the game mechanics or lack thereof. If they dont know gow to fix the issues they should make a post and imposse extreamly harsh punishments if things of such nature are done, instead of just ignoring the issue like it never happened. Allowing these kind of players this ability and letting them gwt away with it is driving away players. One of hashi somewhat new accounts bought about 2 months ago was used to catapult into a deed on freedom.. It was a deed the account was a member to sadly. I have been away for a little while so i didnt get to much involved with it at the time but ill be sinking my fingers into this now that im back. However because of this incident 4 people no longer play.

+1 I personally love winter and feel like it is pretty short. I enjoy the change it brings! I'm sure plenty of people would disagree with me though
  37. 1 point
+1 I'm in favor of more even seasons since there isn't any mechanical effect on crops and such. Make seasons more meaningful with seasonal monsters with seasonal resources? Then even if you don't like the graphics there is something to hunt that's not normally available. Example: Winter: Yeti's with yeti fur for hats and rugs. Spring: Flower/plant monsters that drop unique flowers or seedlings for potted flowers or trellises.

Craft-able Item: Rancher's Ledger 2 wood shingles, leather, 10 papyrus. Use the Rancher's Ledger on the deed token to turn it into Rancher's Ledger of <DEED NAME>. Automatically adds all branded animals to it. Traits are updated by using the the deeded-ledger on a branded animal, traits listed depend on the players Animal Husbandry skill. If you try to inbreed while the ledger is in your inventory, you get a warning before you breed them. How does that sound? I like the look of the graphic you chose.

So those of you saying Java is the issue: Can you give me some specific reasons? Are there limitations in Java that you know about and would like to bring to our attention? I mean essentially Java builds code down into a byte code, which is similar to Assembly. The JVM acts as an intermediary between this byte code and the machine code for the architecture and operating system you are running. Java is also a managed language, as is C#. I suppose it *is* an easy thing to pick on, but I'd like some constructive feedback and serious talk.
