Due to the creative side of my brain going on strike this last month, we are going to host a horse race! You heard right a horse race! What's that you say? Xallo and Alyeska will just bring their prized hellhorses to the track and win again! Well just hold yer horses pardner and check this doggie out. No one will be allowed to bring their own horses. For this treasure hunt we will be providing the race horses! Average time to complete the race will be 2 hours. A rope will be provided. (YOU MUST USE ROPE TO LEAD HORSE TO CONTINUE.) I Recommend traveling light as you may be eaten by the marauding hordes of stuff I found along the race course. (note: we reserve the right to add even more marauding stuff to the course.) When the time comes we will gather at the start deed and take a teleport to the stables and begin the race after all on scene participants have their horse. You must follow the course in order to hit all of the check points. Miss a checkpoint and you will not be able to finish the race. So don't miss a checkpoint. I will post the race course close to the starting time. Their will be 3 main prizes. First prize will be a gold saddle, bridle, and horse shoes. Second Prize will be a silver saddle, bridle and horse shoes. Third prize will be a bronze saddle, bridle, and horse shoes. Participation awards will be brass horseshoes. (and possibly a horse and a rope) More Specifics! - All horses will be normal horses with no negative traits. - Before race time a teleport sign will be placed at Green Dog for participants to be sent to the secure starting location. It will not be possible to join the race if you do not go to Green Dog first. - The race course map will be posted to this thread in the below reserved post anywhere between 30 minutes and 5 minutes pre-race time. - All primary participants arriving on time will be given a rope and a race horse. - At a time set by us on scene we will count down to race start. - At the starting time the blocking wall will be removed and the race will commence. -There will be no return teleport to Green Dog after the race. tips: You may want to lower your graphics settings due to the number of people and horses at the starting location. Travel light. Your weight may be the determining factor of who wins. There will be creatures in your way, not necessarily placed by us. There are checks to make sure you keep to your race horse and you cannot secretly switch or lead from a faster horse. There will be monitors watching. Anyone violating the spirit of the race will be killed. Should you find yourself unable to ride a horse at the beginning of the race there will be a sign to leave the race and return to Green Dog before you start it. Winners: 1st - Xallo 2nd - Alyeska 3rd - Kurson The course is now open to late participants. (hint: bring your own horse gear to speed up your journey) /Enki

I have been a player a lot longer than I've had a staff tag. And if you think I don't get casual abuse thrown at me because I'm staff, then I can only say I wish your version was correct. Maybe I've been lucky, in that the griefing I've had to deal with hasn't been anywhere near as bad as some of the horror stories here. I have been swindled, and I've dealt with some amazingly unpleasant people in-game. My experience has been that although there are some bad apples (and they're generally pretty well known as such), the majority of Wurm players are decent, honest, friendly folks.

Last wintertime was realy realy short. There are enough people that love the wintertime. Why do we get an unequal part in changes of seasons? Probably because the whiners that don't like the wintertime, cried realy hard in the past. Why do they hate wintertime so much? I can bring up 2 main reasons: Because they live in a country with a long period of snow and ice and they can't wait to see it end. Certain people don't adjust graphical settings like 'render bloom (glow)' or brilliance settings on their monitor. I can't help those people that live in countries with long winterperiods. But the 2nd one is just and adjustment everyone can do it by themselfs. I just want to ask Rolf to give those people who love the wintertime a fair share. Not a ridiculous short winter of 5/6 days but for example 10 days. Btw, i don't like autum for the "poop-colours" but i don't ask to make it shorter.

You know what? I think they'd be under less strain if they did. As problems are handled now, each damn problem is dragged out to eternity. "Oooh, let me take a month or 12 to check into this problem. Let me ask 75 people what they think." Just handle each problem quickly and with decency. If someone has stolen, have them give back what they took. If someone is stalking someone, tell them if they go near that person ONE more time it equals an IP ban. If someone is serially griefing, tell them ONE more action equals permaban. If someone kills someone else's animals, tell them ONE more infraction = ban, and take away 1/2 of their skills. Then, people will know not to mess around. This crap all keeps happening because everyone knows they can get away with it. The staff is creating their own work by not resolving issues sensibly. It's perverse to have people who've signed on to play PvE have to put up with this.

Currently for different skills you can mouse over a tile and get information the more skill you have (farming, forestry, etc). I was thinking that animal husbandry skills could use such mouse overs such as : groomable, breedable, milkable, and sheerable. You would need to activate a grooming brush for the grooming/breeding mouse overs to appear, a pair of scissors for sheerable and a bucket/barrel for the milking one. This would allow folks to easily see at if their animals are ready to be tended etc without mindlessly clicking. Just a qol improvement that would be handy for folks with a farm critters and a bonus to say 30+ AH skill. Edit: Forgot to include sheering, thx slickshot

A lot of complaints re: winter that were just that. People live in cold countries and don't like winter. Their opinion isn't asinine, nor is the opposite. I live in the somewhat cold and snowy northeast US and I like the winter (and spring) textures the best, regardless of benefits to hunting or whatever. I like the glow of my deed lights on the snow and the stark look of the trees. You live in a place that is 105 in the winter (Where IS this hot land? How hot is it in the summer?) and don't like winter. That's fine as well.

Winter is beautiful on my computer as well, and my favorite season. I would love winter to be returned to its previous length.

HFC is one of those fuzzy skills that I had to make a judgment call on*. It's hard to level any skill to 100, but I think it's easier with HFC because you get to gain skill while ignoring timers. That's not to say there's not work involved (and even if you pay someone to do it, maybe you can consider that a character investment you should get points for anyway :)). Everyone has the ability to grind HFC so I decided to leave it alone rather than try to come up with what I thought was a fair adjustment. Even that would be biased and not a complete solution. I also really don't intend for people to AIM for a high STP. Spending time on a character doesn't directly make it a good. I'd rather have a character with every skill at 90 than a character that has a few skills at 100. STP is a measure of time spent rather than character quality. For most people, Niarja is a way to share their characters with their friends. There are also the "super users" who play Wurm a lot and would like to see how their characters measure up on an STP-like concept. It's neat trivia but I don't see anyone aspiring to be in the Top 10 List. I'm interested in what people would consider a measure of a "good" character. It would probably include a combination of characteristics, 50/70/90/100 titles, and maybe a few other things. Wurm is also a game that is open to many play styles so I don't want to define what it means to be "good". I have a deed on Xanadu where I do nothing but breed crabs. I consider that a play style but it's also completely insane and pointless. And I'm good at it. *Fighting is another one. People are probably curious why I excluded that one. It's messy.

Leather City's population has increased and I as new mayor would like to welcome those new people for joining our little town. The town is getting a face-lift and we are in construction mode so watch for flying pick axes and hammers. A huge thank you to our crafts-persons for their hard work. We couldn't do it (pottery, mining, and wood piles) without you! Contact me, Mayor Jasminth and/or Sheriff Eridil with a quick IG message to join our village. We're looking for miners, head chef, ranchers, foresters, gardeners Txs JLS.

In the particular thread in question, both parties had weighed in with their version of events, and some posts from others had been hidden as being massively off-topic. Anyone concerned about dealing with the folks in question can readily search for thier names - I note the OP in this case helpfully tagged the thread with them, making it even easier. I closed the thread as I didn't see that much more that could be said in this case. Name and shame is not the same as a lynch mob - setting out what happened in a sensible fashion as a warning to others doesn't need to become a self-powered shouting match. The information is now there if you wish to look for it, and it's not obscured by a long argument about whether GMs should get involved or not, or the merits of deed-it-or-lose-it, or whether PvP is better than PvE, or any of the other stock disagreements that these threads tend to turn into. Pinning this sort of thread to the top of the forum would result in the first page becoming nothing but dealings gone wrong; I don't think that's useful. Perhaps a separate section for trades gone wrong, etc. is something we can look at; really, though, I'd hope that there aren't enough inidividuals that require this treatment to make it really necessary, and I would be concerned that such a sub-forum would turn into a toxic drama pit. Finally, I will add that if you feel a moderation action is incorrect, you are most welcome to contact one of the team by PM - either myself or Firestarter if you're not sure who else to contact. I may not necessarily agree with you, but I'm open to (mature, constructive) discussion, and can be persuaded to reverse a decision where appropriate. This is not an invitation to take out your frustration on us, by the way - vitriolic, abusive messages will be treated with the contempt they deserve. Ultimately, the object of the moderation exercise is to make the forums somewhere enjoyable for Wurm players, so you're welcome to provide constructive feedback.

Inn Keeper NPC This NPC provides some 24/7 services which would be difficult or impossible to provide currently. Sold by Traders like personal merchants. Dispense Items The Inn Keeper can dispense items to a player at a set rate, allowing the price to be set low, or even free, without worry about a single player taking the entire stock. Item Type: The inn keeper sorts items by type (meals, casseroles, healing covers, cotton, etc.) and dispenses randomly from its stock of that type. Price: Per Item. Quantity: The number of items that can be taken per period per player, defaults to 1. Frequency: How often the quantity of items can be taken per player. Minimum of 1 hour to a maximum of 1 day. Stable Your Mount The innkeeper can safely stable your mount until you need it again for whatever price the Inn Keeper’s owner sets. While riding your mount, wagon or cart you go up to the Inn Keeper and choose “Stable my Mount” and you and any passengers are dismounted as the mount is placed in limbo. There after only that Inn Keeper has the option of “Return my Mount”. Only one mount per player can be stabled. To prevent mounts from being lost forever if the Inn Keeper is removed while the owner is away, the data should be stored on the player. If the Inn Keeper is removed, the mount simply reappears beside the player when next they log in. Rumors The Inn Keeper can remember and recite rumors. The Inn Keeper has a stock of "universal rumors" that relate game mechanics, lore, jokes or fun things from the staff. Option: "Let me tell you a rumor." The Inn Keeper will remember one rumor per player, telling them a second rumor will make them forget the last one you told them. Option: "Tell me a rumor." The Inn Keeper will recite a random rumor that it knows.

Only one entry for Green Dog, but that just makes it easy! Full album here: http://imgur.com/a/nZBux Deed plan must fit in with surrounding areas to look somewhat natural to the region : This entry is heavily based on the current Green Dog design, keeping both history and effort alive as well as showing what can be done in wurm. Fencing along deed borders : Deed is totally fenced in, excluding road and water way access, the core center of the deed with the token is well protected. Allowing enough protections for new players while keeping an open area feeling Religion Representation and trader locations : A whole new temple is accessible near the token (including altars of the new and old faiths), on the other side of the token will be the bartenders and traders. Keeping both religion and economic matters right next to each other as Deliverance always used to do. Recruitment Board and mailbox will be available as well in that core center. Allowing easy access to deeds for new players as well as an easy location to find a mailbox. Meditation : Current land design allow us to have both PoK and PoL tiles on deed. Design and setting will allow to keep those available for every player seeking to level their meditation. Those tiles being often removed otherwise by new players or neighbors. Fantastic Portal : Will be placed on the west side of the deed, towards chaos and the PvP lands, a reminder of Deliverance location and how it influenced deeds on the whole west coast. Crafting buildings : The existing building will be used for that purpose, allowing new and old players to work inside it, forges, oven and looms will be provided and improved at a sufficient QL. Sleeping quarters : Beds will be included on the first floor of the old community center and inside the new horses' pen and inn. Allowing once again new and old players to rest or log off when a restart happens. Examples of farmland or animals raised : Farmland are kept as existing on the actual GD design. Look and feeling desired : Deliverance is one of the old servers nowadays, many plans and changes have been done around green dog, the surrounding market place and overall area. Keeping that history alive is important to us and as such the most important features of the deed will be preserved as well as improved to show what is deliverance nowadays. Water and delians, Deliverance have plenty of water bodies but none of them were properly connected to the sea. We worked in the past years to fix that with canals, cave canals and nowadays bridges. Green Dog had to show this which is showed by the new river surrounding the city center. Attention will be taken to prevent drowning by allowing easy climbing from the said river. Signs will warn the new players about drowning. Creativity, once again Deliverance got plenty of interesting towns and even with the limitation on walls we had to show some respect to the great deeds of the past with their crazy design, terraforming and buildings. This is the main idea with the new town center, impressive enough while being lag free. Some trees will be present near the deed borders to allow any damage on the perimeter to be reduced over time. Lawn / deed design / oaks and willows will prevent excessive spreading while keeping a natural look for the area, as well as allowing those tiles to be foraged/botanized. A small resort with a focus on sitting and chilling around enjoying the view of the southern lake and the mountain in the back ground will be created near the PoL tile. Emphasis on trellis, hedges, statues and potentially bushes will be used to show the delians ties to natural looking areas and how they improved them over the years.

I'm not going to join the discussion whether I like Wurm winter or not , but want to point out that Wurm seasons intentionally have different lengths - and they always had. Summer is the longest (about 3 real weeks), Winter always has been the shortest season (about 5 real days), as can be seen in this image (taken from WurmClock): (Blue = Winter, Green = Spring, Yellow = Summer, Red = Autumn). See also: Wurm Calendar. .

It's a rather odd assumption to make, I hate winter and I've never seen snow in my whole life... its not just the awful white burn and everything looking horrible but it also throws out wilderness navigation when everything looks the same including trying to find mines that look like grass

Maybe it's my system and GPU, but I think winter is a very beautiful season and invokes strong memories of my winters in the north. It is very realistic looking on high settings, the big flakes drifting down, the glisten of light on the snowfall, the way it drifts across the floors of the stables .. but most of all the beauty of big snowflakes cascading down and around me in the woods at night, reflected in lantern light .. I literally go out into the woods just to stand in it. If it gets much more realistic, I'll feel the flakes on my tongue and the cold on my upturned face. Winter just needs to be a week or two longer!

I dislike winter because it's just ugly, no matter the graphical settings. I like how colors during other seasons differ a lot and look vibrant. When it's winter, it's just white everywhere.

I have read the OP, and not the responses. But from what I have observed is that these threads can be constructive, but a troll tends to go on a rant about something in the left field that is 99% negative in nature. Now I am not sure if these trolls are doing this intentionally to troll-lock(new term eh), but I see Pandalet locking these threads as soon as this occurs. Maybe instead of locking an entire thread, remove the useless and negative posts with a brief summery of what was said and let the discussion continue. Thanks.

Funny how you compare life and wurm... in life you can get justice when someone acts as a jerk to you, or you can call cops.. in wurm we have no means for justice. THAT is the problem, the team has washed their hands clean step by step and now choose to ignore all the offences without giving any tools for us to police ourselves. These forum topics are the ONLY way to react for us, just to warn others, thats the most we can do.

EQ2Flames was a very interesting place to be at times... they allowed pretty much anything. Nothing stops someone from forming their own unofficial forum for such things. In fact, as I think I mentioned elsewhere, I was working on that very thing myself when I was brought on to the team. As a team member I cannot run a community site though, so I stopped working on it in favor of volunteering here. That said, the moderation team does a hard job and they do it well. We don't need to vicariously watch fellow players bludgeon each other to death with harsh words and horrible memes. The point is made, we get it. Someone offended you, made you feel less pretty or special, you got your say in, and now we all move on. That's how I see it. Situations of real and actual abuse are handled on an as-needed basis by the GM team. Situations where the mechanics allowed someone to take a loss are unfortunate, usually avoidable, but are still part of the game. Take this as a fellow member of the community who has always found these posts tiring and a detriment to the game and community. Just my few copper. I always say that I prefer being a developer because the code doesn't talk back when I beat it senselessly, nor does it come posting on the forums whenever it feels that I've offended it or caused it undo stress. Edit: The problem with "name and shame" is that the interpretation of "grief" is completely biased to the person who makes the first post. I've seen the mob mentality do terrible things here, and I'd not like to see it encouraged any more than it already is. In a situation where say someone deeds over a track of land, and the person who loses out comes on here to bemoan and seek sympathy for their loss - who are we to decide that the other person deserves to be shamed? Do they deserve their reputation tarnished and to be publicly harassed because they weren't the first person to come here and make a plea of grief? I don't think so. They also can't very well come here and exonerate themselves after the fact, as everyone who reads a post is now biased against them and will view anything they say as "excuses" or attempts to save face. No. No no no. Keep up the good work mods.

I'm interested to see how this plays out. Seeing as I've been forcibly removed from a mine that was not deeded and told to never return. Yes that's right, for mining an off deed vein. All you have to do is cry hard to a staff member, and you too can have someone restricted from your area. As Keenan says, anything off deed should be considered fair game to anyone willing to put the effort into taking it.

I refuse to play WU simply because it's on STEAM. I won't use any "service" like STEAM (and Origin, etc., etc.). WU is already on STEAM for those who chose to use it. but whether I play or not is irrelevant, nowadays losing a customer means nothing and no one cares, what matters is how many others feel as I do and play on WO still because they want to avoid using STEAM?

Automatically adds all branded animals to it. Traits are updated by using the the deeded-ledger on a branded animal, traits listed depend on the players Animal Husbandry skill. If you try to inbreed while the ledger is in your inventory, you get a warning before you breed them. How does that sound? I like the look of the graphic you chose.
