    There are two very prominent bug-related deaths that occur when building deeds. The first is cave wall suffocation, and the other is dropping dead randomly while digging. Both of these only happen when the player has high latency, or packet loss, even for a split second. Many people have been reimbursed for both events, minus champions, but now WO is no longer responsible for these events? How should players go about handling a situation with monetary losses, and in some cases, very large time loss due to losing .25 at very high skill? I'd like staff to clarify please, particularly why my ticket was denied.

    NOTE: The server is live, however, there is still a good deal of work being done, but characters and the map won't be wiped. 107.3.19.138:3724 Server name: Bloodstone The server has two main focal points: PvP, and an interactive world. As opposed to standard Wurm servers that start bare, Bloodstone would already have structures including towns, relics, holy lands, gardens, and more. Some of these areas would merely be decorative, however, others would be where players would acquire powers. In many ways these holy grounds replace the white and black lights. Features: - No monthly fee. Silver will be sold. Donations accepted. No microtransactions. - No default kingdoms. Players can create their own kingdom at less player requirements and cost, however, PMKs will have less features in terms of titles, ruler gear, and CR bonuses. Alliances will be enabled. - Mix of PvP and PvE. There land will have some safe areas, however, the large majority allow for PvP. Designated safe areas mainly include starting areas, holy grounds, and surrounding marketplaces. - Increased skillgain, and timer speed similar to Epic. - Slower hunger, nutrition, thirst drain, and decay on meat, meals, and fish. - Third person camera angle. - Removal of priesthood. Understandably religion plays a huge factor in Wurm such as enchants, however, there are alternatives to that in Bloodstone. Enchants will still be acquired, but by different means, which are being discussed. Priesthood is removed because the intent for PvP is for fights to be more decided by on player's tactics, crafted goods, PvP rewards, and shotcalling. I do not want to put an overall importance on a need to cast spells in subsitution of melee. - Valrei rewards are altered slightly, the spells will be buffed because of the removal of priesthood, but there will be no permanent character buff or debuff. There is a maximum of three abilities that can be learned, and never removed. Key to the Heavens and Wand of the Seas would be removed. - Valrei rewards and PvP will have a system similar to tokens as a form of currency. Kill participation grants tokens, which then can be turned in for rewards. There will be an NPC in the form of an Avatar of War, which players can interact with, and cash in tokens for rewards. Rewards will be masks (that will have the same properties as great helms), tomes, resurrection stones, and more. There are rewards additionally for each a hundred rank (1100, 1200, 1300, etc.) - Players can only lead a single creature be it a tamed creature or horse. THE MOST IMPORTANT: There will be much stricter rules of exploiting, griefing, harassment, alt abuse, and misconduct. There is an obvious intended functionality of game mechanics, and we as players should know how they are designed to operate, identify bugs, glitches, and not take advantage of them. If you play here you are expected to know right and wrong, and not have your hand held.

    I just looked at the number of active accounts here on WO and it is just under 1000, which is pretty average for a weekend. WU on the other hand is now up to 1890 active servers. Pretty fantastic to see. To me, it says we aren't seeing a cannibalization of the WO player base and a lot of net new wurmians that we would not have seen if it weren't for this new flavor of Wurm and leveraging Steam. Code Club must be smiling today. at least $50k of new revenue, if every server purchased is up and running now. Could be some exciting times of growth ahead, for the first time ever.

    Just to be clear, it's being considered now and we will probably hear the result tomorrow or the day after. If it goes through, kings will have two titles and they cannot disable their king title. The order is debatable ([King][something else] or [something else][King]), but that could be changed at a later moment too.

    Affects all platforms for Wurm Unlimited builds 828552 and earlier, and Wurm Unlimited Dedicated Server builds 828553 and earlier. Fix This issue has been fixed for new worlds in Wurm Unlimited build 842455 and Wurm Unlimited Dedicated Server build 842456, released 3rd November 2015. There is now an option to configure tree growth in the server gui, which should be set to 20 for the default spread rate. Issue Tree growth for new servers is not configurable, and those of the servers in Creative_backup and Adventure_backup are set to 0, which prevents trees from growing or spreading. A fix has been pushed but will not be available until it has been included in a release, after which the option will be available in the server configuration gui. Workaround This workaround is only recommended if you feel confident in modifying the database, otherwise you can wait until the fix has been released. You should not update the database without first shutting down the server and making a backup. The tree growth configuration item is located in the SERVERS.TREEGROWTH field in the wurmlogin.db database, and is an integer that gives a 1 in <treegrowth> chance of spawning a nearby tree or a one in <treegrowth> chance of spawning a mushroom when the tile is polled. The default value is 20. Edit: Added notes on fix.

    This is the first map I have created. I wanted a reasonably flattish landmass with all the biomes. I have tried to create a similar feel to WO with clay being near water, tar in small patches etc. I have spread out the trees more and not completely covered the land in forests so there's a bit more grass than on some maps. I have made Ores slightly more frequent than defaults, and included a tiny amount of Glimmersteel and Adamantine though I don't actually know if they work in game. I've had a quick run around the map in GM mode and I think it's quite nice (what I could tell in Winter anyway!). That worked for me after starting from a clean database. I'm not entirely happy with it. Now that I've run around it a bit, I want more Steppe and possibly trees more regional and less spread out. I'm going to work on a 2048x next :-)

    Farming intervals are initially set to 1 hour. Minimum of 3 hours, maximum of 5. The original game is one interval every 24 hours. If you want it to be all over in 24 hours, set it to about 4.5 hours per interval. Every 4.5 hours, the crops will need tending though. If you want people who are busy to have a chance, it may be best to set it to 12 hours per interval. Still faster than live, and gives a chance to keep things rolling. Otherwise, you need to tend to your crops every hour at default for farming ups, and to see if it's harvest time.

    I've made mention of this on IRC, but should post it here. I'm planning to expand WGenerator and make it more modular, i.e. bringing dirt dropping to it's own interface, biomes to their own interface etc etc. This will let anyone who has been working on their own custom algorithms to easily add their classes implementing these interfaces to the main github source, and will let users choose which algorithm to use for each step in the process. Other changes, like your loading heightmap and adjusting water height, Ahiri - feel free to put up a PR and we'll merge it into the main WGenerator repo. Those things were on my to-do list, just hadn't got around to them yet.

    Have you followed this video? Still do not know if your issue is being forced to use steam or not being able to get a local server working at all. I had the same setup issues but solved them once I understood how it works with the tutorial.     I believe default WO is 8, the lower the setting the faster the growth. I "slowed" my fields down by increasing the number to 4 (forget what it was before, maybe 1 or 2) I saw a written explanation someplace for how the number worked, I will try to find and link it. But high number is slower, and WO is 8, I remember those two things.

    +1 for reimbursment. absolute crap. we already need to warn people to do silly things like not stand on tile corners when making a tunnel, or to not climb near a stone wall at the bottom of the tile, because these things can lead to instant death. when deaths like this happen they should 100% be taken care of by GM's

    WGenerator Map Generator for Wurm Unlimited Servers Download Here | View Source on GitHub | WGenerator allows you to generate maps for Wurm Unlimited with a large amount of flexibility. Generate a heightmap to suit your tastes, erode it to smooth out the rough edges, and drop dirt on it to build up your desired dirt layer. From there you can add as many biomes as you want for all tile types, restricting biomes to certain height ranges, certain sizes and rarity. Generate an ore map with your desired ore distribution, and save it all with a history of actions taken, map dumps and actual map files needed for servers. If you need to edit or load a previous map, simply edit the text file of saved actions, or load the actions file back into WGenerator and keep working on your map from where you left off. Detailed Instructions HeightMap Generation: Map Size: Map width and height in tiles, defaults to 2048. (Deliverance sized maps are 2048, Independance sized maps are 4096, Xanadu sized maps are 8192). Seed: Seed used to randomize heightmap generation. #: Automatically generate a new seed. Res: Resolution of the heightmap. Higher numbers for large land mass, smaller numbers for smaller islands and archipelagos. Iterations: How many times to pass over the heightmap adding more details. Lower iterations will leave a smoother, less detailed map. Min Edge: The minimum amount of tiles between the borders and first bits of land. Border Weight: How steeply the land will taper off near the borders. Higher number for steeper edges. Max Height: Maximum height for tiles (measured in dirt). More Land: Increases the base height of everything to create more land. HeightMap Erosion: Erosion Iterations: How many times to pass over the map eroding the heights. Erosion Min Slope: Erosion ignores all slopes below this value (measured in dirt). Max Sediment Per Iteration: Amount of sediment that will be moved for each iteration, higher will cause smoother lands faster. Dirt Dropping: Biome Seed: Seed used for random generation in dirt droppng and biome seeding. #: Automatically generate a new biome seed. Dirt Per Tile: How many dirt to drop on each tile total. Max Dirt Slope: Dirt will start flowing downhill above this slope. Max Dirt Slope (Diagonal): Dirt will start flowing diagonally downhill above this slope. Max Dirt Height: No dirt will be dropped above this height. For a few tiles just below this height, a smaller amount of dirt will be dropped. Water Height: The height of the water level (measured in dirt). Biome Generation: Dropdown: What type of tile to place with the biome generation. Tree and bush types will only be placed over other trees and bushes, or on grass tiles. Seed Count: How many initial seeds of the biome to place, each seed will spread to a certain size. Size: How far each seed can possibly spread to depending on growth percentage. Max Slope: Biome will not grow if the slope to the next tile is above this. Min Height: Biome will not grow below this height. Max Height: Biome will now grow above this height. Growth % N/S/E/W: Percentage rates that any tile will spread in a given direction. 100/100/100/100 will make every biome spread in a diamond pattern skipping no tiles. Add Biome: Adds the new biome. Undo Last Biome: Removes the last biome added - only stores the last biome, so can only use this once at a time. Reset Biomes: Reset all biome changes. Ore Generation: Each entry box holds the percentage of tiles that will be a given ore type. Rock is automatically calculated so everything adds up to 100%. Note: Default ore generation values may be very dense, you may want to test this. Saving & Loading: Text Box: Name of the map. All files saved and loaded will be saved to the "./maps/name/" folder from where WGenerator is launched. Save Actions: Saves all actions taken for the current map generation to a text file. Text file can then be edited to remove certain lines, or shared with others etc. Load Actions: Loads the actions file from the current map name directory. All actions will process through the UI in order, so may take a fair bit of time to load and generate everything. Save Image Dumps: Saves the map dump, topography map and cave map to the map name folder. Save Map Files: Saves all map files to the map name folder. If you want to test those maps with WGenerator still running, you may have to click this button twice before copying the maps, else it doesn't save the files completely. Show Map View: Shows the map dump view in the WGenerator window. Show Topo View: Shows the topography map view in the WGenerator window. Show Cave View: Shows the cave view in the WGenerator window. Show Height View: Shows the heightmap view in the WGenerator window. Tips & Tricks Heightmap Erosion and Dropping Dirt both take a fair amount of time to complete. Keep in mind that we're dealing with 4.2million tiles for a 2048x2048 map, and both erosion and dirt dropping are making around ~50 passes over every tile, maybe more depending on your settings. Don't be surprised if everything is taking a long time to complete, especially with large maps. With a (fairly) top end PC, erosion and dirt dropping still take 7-8 seconds each on a 2048 map for me. With older PCs and laptops, that can be at least 30 seconds each, if not longer. If you've clicked a button and the program is hanging, just wait until it completes - the button will stay pressed while everything is working. If you're clicking a button and something isn't finishing properly, e.g. clicking Drop Dirt and it finished in a few seconds with no change, you may be running out of memory. You can run from command line to confirm that. In order to fix that, run the jar from command line specifying how much RAM to use: "java -Xmx2048m -jar WGenerator.jar" where 2048m is how much RAM to use. Remember to check your maps folder fairly often. Map files tend to be saved a fair amount, so if you're generating a lot of maps, a lot of files will be created. Be sure to delete any folders for maps you no longer require, otherwise your storage drives might start getting full fairly quickly. That should be everything. Any questions feel free to ask here.     EDIT: I made this map in 2015 when Wurm Unlimited was released, it was an experiment to see if it would be possible to create a custom heightmap painted by hand inside photoshop. I no longer have the original .PSD files but the heightmap can be opened in an editor available in the mod tools forums here if you want to make modifications. ------------------------------------------- Hello people. Posting to share a custom map i did. I painted the heightmap in photoshop and use the generator to put the resources and ore. It is fully set up, just put in the server folder adjust the settings to your liking and play. I'm making changes so that it will show the custom map in game when you press M, for now appears the default global map.     WGenerator - Blayze Download v1.1 This is a version of WGenerator created by Buddah. I have added a lot of different tools/features and changed the layout a bit. After I comment and clean up the code I'll release it. Whats New: Overlay map - A separate layer that can be blended into the main map layer. Domain Distortion - A feature that pushes the stretches the terrain in different directions. Ridged Noise - A feature that replicates rivers and valleys. Angle of Repose Style Dirt Drop - Changed the way that dirt is dropped so it drops more naturally. Layout Change - Moved around the settings to fit everything Fixed the way dirt is dropped so it does not create rock tiles that players can mine How It Works: Overlaying: Each of the different noise function can be done on the main height map and the overlay height map. The overlap map can be pressed/overlaid into the main map. The press feature combines the two maps together, usually decreasing the brightness The overlay feature combines the two maps together, usually increasing the brightness Domain Distortion: This will create the domain count number and create that amount of random points squared. Each one of those random points pushes the image in a random direction. After each use it is best to change the seed number or else it will be pushed into a corner Ridged Noise: This will create a map with deep valleys The higher the frequency the bigger the valleys get, the smaller they become The octaves is the level of detail. With numbers above 10 this can take a lot of time. Dirt Dropping: The the slope dirt angle determines the max steepness of a dirt slope. The lower the dirt slope angle the more time it will take to run. Anything lower than a max slope angle of 12 will be forced back to 12. The more dirt that is dropped the more time it will take. Other: I'm working on multi-threading as much as I can to make it faster. I have already done the domain distort and ridged noise but I still need to work on the base noise (perlin noise) and the dirt dropping. Examples of what can be done: Update 1.1 Fixed bugs with values not updating such as resolution and border weight Optimized the dirt dropping so its a bit faster

    I was looking at the screen shots and thinking how awesome it is to finally see Wurm on steam. I know you guys have been working on this Project (Wurm) for years now and have had many ups and downs. Its been a really long road for you guys and not all of the players were easy to work with. I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you for all your dedicated hard work and for those holidays that you missed with your family's to fix or get things ready for us the players. I don't know if all of Code Club reads English so I will post another with a translation. So...Thank you all at Code Club AB for bringing Wurm into our homes and giving us the opportunity to experience your magical world know as Wurm. Here is to many more Adventures and Misadventures in that world. Thank you for everything you do for us the players. And I hope it continues to bring you as much Fortune as it has brought us so much enjoyable entertainment.     If you do NOT have "switchable graphics" and only have Intel, you need to disable GLSL in Compatability. It will fix the stretched animation but probably cause new glitches in terrain tiles. (Intel graphics are below minimum requirements) If you have Nvidia or Radeon wyou can also go to graphics control panel and tell it to use "high performance" card either for all programs (high battery usage) or specifically for JAVA games. Right now it is defaulting back to integrated graphics because it thinks you are not running a game.

    Necroing this ancient thread at the request of Serraphine. With the new permissions sytem, if the mayor of a village goes hunted, the entire village is kind of removed from alliance for the duration of the hunted status, and as a result the permission that lets villagers perform alliance actions on other deeds is unchecked. This means that all citizens of a village are pretty much screwed for any deed/structure/minedoor that is not on their own deed or owned by their deed. Seriously, can we just remove the hunted status from Chaos entirely (I imagine Epic players have this issue also, but I'll let them speak for themselves). It adds nothing to the gameplay, only actively detracts from it.

    I feel the same way. As a server's life goes on, it tends to accumulate abandoned deeds, highways, etc., leaving less and less untouched land, and more and more 200 high dirt walls going nowhere. I think a slow erosion process should be in place, but only for areas that are both off-deed and unpaved. This way, things that people actually use are not affected much.

    There is no need to use mouse action menus, check out keybinds editor which also supports toolbelt swapping. In WU you can use macro keyboards/mice without getting banned which makes keybinds/toolbelt even more powerful. Nobody would have played WO for years if you had to use the mouse menus, they mastered the keybind system.

    No offense, but your test with one troll hardly counts as a test in my opinion. And to be honest, considering the fact that Becket has been in Wurm since the dawn of time, (wurm time, lol), and I think probably has a pretty good handle on what kinds of things he should be "mindful" of, or are unusual, I tend to believe him that what he experienced was out of the norm. I, for one, will definitely take his heads-up to heart and keep a closer eye on my cart when I run into trolls from now on. Thanks Becket.

    as a last word I feel I need to state that my respect goes to Odynn to try to work the things to the better and even offering compensation from his own share which is of course not necessary and not to be accepted.

    +/- 1 + because something needs to be done to deal with the terra-forming mess on Wurm servers. It's one of the reasons why Wurm has so poor retention of new players. - because I can't see how an algorithm could reliably deal with it. It would be much smarter to prevent players from creating the mess instead of trying to solve the mess after it's created.
