20fs, premium only, should be the requirement for anything remotely like this since removing f2p off of pvp servers isn't going to happen it seems

Please forgive my busy schedule as of late, but patience has its rewards. The Venerable White Dragon is sentenced for death on Saturday July 11th, with the Venerable Diseased Kyklops to follow suit shortly thereafter. A pre-designated kill crew will be established for both, and if possible(cannot guarantee) some slots can be allotted for title hits. Both kills will be held public, with bloods and hides for those who attend, but the butcher drops from the corpses will be randomed amongst the kill crews solely. Now for the fun part, when and where...... White Dragon slaying, meet at Misty Harbor(M8 in game map, X3 Y30), at or before 4PM CST. I have to stress punctuality is a must due to time constraints, so getting here early is preferred. Horses are available for those in the kill crew, and as the deed is coastal plenty of space to dock and watch the fight. For those who are extra early.....the Misty Harbor Inn has several rooms available south side of the wall, open to all. [post=] Pingpong will fill you in on details about the Kyklops fight. ATTN : due to scheduling conflict the Kyklops fight will be held 4 hours in advance of the Dragon kill. Meet at Taka No Dan(J12 in game map, X14 Y22) early as instructions will be given there for movement to the kill location. Timer is set for the kill time, try to give yourselves at least 20-30 minutes extra. Look forward to seeing as many there as possible, if I'm awake.

I completely agree with starting a list to boycot people from slayings! I started a private list with greedy buggers that won't be welcome on slayings I host anymore. I don't like dealing with people who throw a fit only because they don't get a chance at getting stuff for free. Thanks for the suggestion!

I have been seriously thinking of quitting recently. Mainly for these reasons 1) No real PVE, cant we have a spawn area that increases in difficulty the more (faster) you kill the monsters; like normal, raging , champ.... something to challenge a small group of players, anytime any hour of the day/night. Also have these monsters drop something instead of meat. 2) Greifing without consequences really is upsetting me. Something seriously needs to be done to stop it.

I'll list my current reasons for being on the verge of leaving... 1. Staff member's corruption/lack of doing anything about griefing/showing favoritism/covering up bad behavior and/or disallowing you from talking about it/Censoring you by simply just hiding your comments or muting you in-game/Doing things that effect the in-game economy and effect the market price but then deprive me of actually addressing the issue..thereby effecting the market price (In this case, massively driving the price of boats down. Knarrs, specifically. In the real world, if you did something like this it would be illegal and you'd be in jail, so you're basically supporting criminal behavior.) 2. Bug-fixing game 'features' that people cared about/quality of life stuff (Mooring Rope leading, Glancing through mine walls, and a few others.) while ignoring blaring holes in other things. (The mobs all up in the north, while I can drive around for over 2 hours in the south and maybe if I'm lucky find 5 mobs....can't even bring a cart full home anymore. This is the type of thing that would've taken whole servers offline/been fixed on most other games I've played, but they've ignored it for nearly a year now.) and generally focusing bugfixes on PvP rather than PvE (Who, I'm sorry to inform you is most of your playerbase. Just the 'less vocal' side.) 3. Staff AND players cracking jokes about player's concerns/writing them off as 'overzealous' or basically trying to demean the players or Reductio Ad Ridiculum (Reduce to Ridicule)/Reductio Ad Absurdum (Reduce to the Absurd) any argument/debate they disagree with. 4. PvP players ability to waltz all over PvE threads and basically cause them to be locked so as the issue is not dealt with and it falls away/becomes no longer an issue in people's eyes. 5. Game features that are so full of holes/bugs, and things that blatantly block you from even doing things. (For example, clay cannot be raised by leveling. I made a post/poll about it...and it was just ignored. The 'other way around it' is to do hours and hours of work that shouldn't be needed/throw probably something around the amount of 5-7K dirt off a mountainside just to fix one area.) 6. Scaring off some of the players I most enjoy reading. (Mordraug, Audrel, and quite a few others who have disappeared.) I could keep going, but those are some of my current 'gripes'. I actually enjoy the game itself. Most of my posts look like I hate it/hate the people...but I've met/talked to many great folks on here from all over the world. Spent many hours just building up a couple deeds and making them look great. (One is gone, but the land lives on.) I've terraformed a few places into functioning places that were semi-inhospitable locales before I got there. (I'm not even finished with my current one, but I just kinda hit a lull where I can't continue my current castle because I was waiting for them to figure out whether they were giving us cart ramps INSIDE buildings. And don't really feel up to surface mining the rest of the mountain to salvage more plateau space. I kinda need to hire someone, but have no idea how they calculate surface mining + paying someone for it.) I'm basically just randomly skilling whatever I feel up to doing after basic maintenance (Grooming/Milking cows/Making cheese/Tending the farm.)...just did a pile of fishing the past few days with my x5 queue, and then used up most of my accrued SB cooking it all out/fileting it to hit 75 HFC...and then did another batch of milling/baking to raise the cooking/those skills a bit more yesterday. I'm just kinda getting to where I'm like...'Why should I keep paying for this when they disregard us?'

I would like to see a storage unit to store up to 6 or more small barrels, that way it wouldn't use as much graphics and be a better organization for those of us who have lots of barrels lying around.

Hey Everyone! This week we have a special off-schedule News post ahead of upcoming improvements to the Wiki. There's also an impalong on Xanadu in a few week's time - you should check it out! Marni (bwg), as our new Wiki Head, has already started doing a fantastic job of organising the vast Wiki. The end goal will be a cohesive, accurate and highly informative Wiki that lists as much information as possible about the game. As a part of this, we will be reducing the number of player accounts to a more manageable size. Less than 30 players have edited the Wiki since the start of 2015, and the "manageable size" we have in mind is still far larger than that. Players will be able to apply for an account in what will simply be a slightly stricter and more monitored system than before. This will help to ensure that edit standards can be set and that vandalism/security issues can be prevented, while still keeping the Wiki open to all to contribute to. There's a full write-up below! Wiki Improvements How many of you have seen the phrase "read the wiki" typed into CA Chat? Everybody, of course! ... And you've probably checked it yourself too recently. Why? Because with over 2,600 articles it's the go-to resource for anything Wurm Online. We all like structured, informative and relevant information to help us to grow our skills and craft a new tool or decoration. Just as Tamorlane recently said in a City Hall forum thread: “Change is Comingâ€. The changes will include our Wurmpedia; the appearance, the content and how it’s managed. So I'd like to give you some insight into how we are re-structuring, developing and changing the Wurmpedia. The first noticeable change is the creation of our Wurmpedia Team. Our team is here to help keep the information relevant, informative, structured and easy to use for old and new members of our community. The Why Wurm is growing! In the beginning when the Wurmpedia started to take off the team was too small to have anyone dedicated to it. An overseer was put in place to keep an eye on the editors and weed out the vandalism but the community was let loose to share their findings. As Enki once said, “back then Wurm was ‘intended as a sandbox of discovery’ and this is how the players chose to share their knowledgeâ€. Most of that knowledge was great for the community. However as time went on updates were released, changes were made, and the community started to grow. Some of the knowledge became lacking substance, mis-informed, and did not follow any specific or consistent structure. So now, we have a Wurmpedia that has some fantastic information, but there is still a lot of unverified content. That's why some people in will tell you not to use the Wurmpedia because “most of the information on there is incorrect anywayâ€. We will change that by providing a strong, secure, and reliable source of knowledge for our community. We currently have somewhere in the region of 1,400+ editor accounts. This is far too many for one person to manage. Even if over half of those accounts are inactive, that is still a very daunting task. The community has also grown substantially, and with any luck that growth pattern will continue... With that growth (regardless of where we are today) it is not feasible for one person to control the access rights, ensure the data is up-to-date (correct and structured), and to resolve any vandalism, revert wars, or posting issues. Next Steps We plan to eventually have 3 levels of user on the Wurmpedia team; Wurmpedia Manager (currently Marni)Wurmpedia AssistantsWurmpedia EditorsThe primary role of the Wurmpedia Manager is to handle: Development and management of the team projects for the Wurmpedia. They are also to handle recruitment, interviewing, appointing and promotion of the Wurmpedia team applicants and team members. The Wurmpedia manager also oversees the day to day operations and assessments of the scheduled tasks. The primary role of the Wurmpedia Assistants is to: Assist and execute projects relating to the Wurmpedia content and structure.Monitor and review suggestions and updates posted to Wurmpedia section of the Forum.Assist in the moderation of contributions made by the Wurmpedia Editors to the Wurmpedia.Wurmpedia Assistants will also be the mentors to the Wurmpedia Editors, offering training and support in the day-to-day maintenance of the Wurmpedia. The primary role of the Wurmpedia Editors is to: The Wurmpedia Editor is a non-staff volunteer position. This position, however, is the team's eyes and ears to the community. Collecting information from the forums, chats, and test server. Helping review, test, and confirm the different page’s game information. They are the foundation of the Wurmpedia, having the most hands on position throughout the whole team, collecting, updating, and delivering the most up to date content to the Wurmpedia. They will help us to bring the Wurmpedia above and beyond the standards we all come to expect. All existing Wurmpedia accounts will be disabled soon, but not removed. This is to allow us to set up a new permission system, security measures, and adaptations for the Wurmpedia. The application process will be very similar to how it was previously, but just a bit more rigorous and with more resources to help new player editors. For the time being, we are setting a soft limit on the number of editors that will give us time to teach and train those editors on our new globalised structure and templates for the Wurmpedia. Then shortly after, if everything goes as planned, we will open applications again to give more players the opportunity to join our awesome and dedicated team. More details on when the second round of applications will be available once the first Wurmpedia Editors have been properly introduced. Also of note are player and settlement pages. They will stay as they are but won't be edited from now onwards - In the long run, we'd like to look into a new and exciting dedicated platform for recording Wurm history. You can now apply to be an assistant or an editor. This post is a summary of a longer write-up that Marni did here. Xanadu Impalong There is an upcoming summer impalong on Xanadu. The impalong will run from the 24th-27th July at the Misty Dragon deed, and is being organised by a number of local residents. So-called "Impalongs" are events organised solely by the community, where players can go to get tools, weapons and armour improved. They're fun, one-of-a-kind community gatherings that bring players together from across huge distances to socialise and share. North Indy Academy Playground, Independence In addition to larger bridge projects, some Wurmians have been building their deed complexes with smaller, more numerous bridges. Such is the case with the "playground" effect that has been achieved at the North Indy Academy by Journeya. The rope bridges connecting the buildings certainly do conjure memories of a children's play area. Their deed is recruiting too, so you can join up and see them firsthand for yourself! Find out more about the North Indy Academy: http://forum.wurmonl...-is-recruiting/ Screenshot of the Week This week's Screenshot of the Week by Alyeska depicts a party on horseback readying for the Treasure Hunt on Independence! It was taken at the Howl in front of a multi-coloured display originally made by Headhunter. It's a good example of the different armor, mounts and even dyes that can be used in the game... all in one screenshot! Looks like a GM photobombed the pic too! That's it for this week's News! We'll probably speak again soon in a few weeks' time. But don't fret if you feel lost and hopeless without us! Just make a campfire and use /weather to check the wind direction, and that will make you an easy smoke-based compass. Happy Wurming!

How many of you have seen the phrase "read the wiki" typed into CA Chat? Everybody, of course!... And you have probably checked it yourself too recently. Why? Because with over 2,600 articles it's the go-to resource for anything Wurm Online. We all like structured, informative and relevant information at our fingertips to help us to grow our skills and craft the new tool or decoration we have read so much about in the news. Looking through my own logs I see over 2,500 references to the Wurmpedia in the last 5 years alone, and that's only when I have been logged into CA! As Tamorlane recently said in a City Hall forum thread: “Change is Comingâ€. The changes will include our Wurmpedia; the appearance, the content, and how it’s managed. So today I would like to give you some insight into how we are structuring, developing and changing the Wurmpedia. The first noticeable change is the creation of a dedicated Wurmpedia Team. Our team is here to help keep the information relevant, informative, structured, and easy to use for old and new members of our community. Just how you like it! It is important that everyone understands the reason for these changes. Firstly, I will explain why change is needed and then I will move on to explain how we plan to implement them, including the role and responsibilities of the Wurmpedia team. The community has also grown substantially, probably somewhere in the region of 600% (my guess-timate from the MRTGs) and with any luck that growth pattern will continue... With that growth (regardless of where we are today) it is not feasible for one person to control the access rights, ensure the data is up-to-date (correct and structured), and to resolve any vandalism, revert wars, or posting issues. You now know “Why", now to explain “Howâ€. The How So how do we go about structuring a beast such as the Wurmpedia? We build a team, invoke new rules and procedures, add globalised structure, and valued, dedicated commitment. It is important to note that the team cannot be built only from players who 'just edit', nor can we build it from existing team members alone; we have to build a hybrid model. You may have noticed we started recruiting Wurmpedia Assistants who will be responsible for maintaining the structure, managing projects and overseeing the volunteer efforts of the approved editors. I have already started some projects for the Wurmpedia Assistants to focus on. These projects will focus on areas of interest that have been (and will be) mentioned in the Wurmpedia Maintenance forum, along with some of my and the other staff's suggestions on where we feel serious maintenance is required. The team will be closely watching the release notes, public bug reports and jumping onto the test server to try to clear up some of the uncertainty and questionable content that exists in the Wurmpedia today. The end product of all of this will be a complete database of correct, relevant and structured information on the Wurmpedia we all know and love. Next Steps We plan to eventually have 3 levels of user on the Wurmpedia team; Wurmpedia Manager (currently Marni) Wurmpedia Assistants Wurmpedia Editors The primary role of the Wurmpedia Manager is to handle: Development and management of the team projects for the Wurmpedia. They are also to handle recruitment, interviewing, appointing and promotion of the Wurmpedia team applicants and team members. The Wurmpedia manager also oversees the day to day operations and assessments of the scheduled tasks. The primary role of the Wurmpedia Editors is to: http://forum.wurmonline.com/index.php?/topic/126364-wurmpedia-editor-we-applications/ The Wurmpedia Editor is a non-staff volunteer position. Please note that all Wurmpedia team roles are entirely voluntary. What next? All existing Wurmpedia accounts will be disabled soon, but not removed. This is to allow us to set up a new permission system, security measures, and adaptations for the Wurmpedia. Any players who have accounts in good standing in-game and on the official forums are welcome to apply to become one of our Wurmpedia Editors. We will shortly be posting an application form for players to request a Wurmpedia Editor account and to join the editorial team, keep your eyes peeled! In closing, I’d like to apologise for such a long post, but I wanted to make sure that we are as transparent with the Wurm community as we can be. I do understand that some may be concerned about having big changes made to our beloved Wurmpedia, but I can assure you that they are all for the greater good of the Wurmpedia and for the Wurm community! Question: So current wiki accounts will be disabled, to get a wiki account/re-enable a current account the person would need to apply to become a Wurmpedia Editor? Correct. Applying is the new way of saying "I'd like to edit the Wurmpedia". We will have tools, training and mentors available to the disposal of any editors. The process is no different to how it was previously, however the Wurm team will be working closer to the editors than before. TLDR: 1. We'll be soon resetting access for everyone, accounts will remain, just become inactive. 2. Anyone wishing to edit the Wurmpedia will apply directly through the WM as before, but completing an application form. 3. There will be guidelines and so forth provided by the Wurmpedia Assistants which should be followed to ensure the Wurmpedia meets the high standards we want to see going forward. 4. Editors will get additional tools and resources that were not previously available.

It would be neat to have an option to turn on a ding sound for an unanswered private message. It's sad to be focused intently on your crafting, only to realize your friend needed help, or someone was saying Hi. Thanks

I used to let passing new players join my village to give them temporary sanction and a place to spawn. With todays level of griefing that is no longer an option. I can easily protect my deed from them but bringing them in also opens any allies to them. A setting that prohibited them from having ally rights, set to default off would solve that.

Hello everyone! Let's do something for fun and creativity! If you like decorations join me in this thread and share with all of us your unusual decorating ideas. Let's put those unexpected items to creative use or take something that seems ordinary and turn it into interesting design. Inspire and get inspired ! Few days ago we went to hunting trip in open sea and I came up with something interesting after trying to display our hunting trophies ( that what I call regular unbutchered corpses ). I just wanted to show our citizens and friends variety of cool sea creatures that exist in Wurm. Sadly we do not see them in our area of Xanadu. But when I dropped them on floor in our city hall , I could see only tops of creatures and rest of their bodies went underground. So, I went to second floor of our tavern and dropped them there ... and here is result how it look like on first floor "Forbidden fruit" Tavern, hunting trophies display. ( Eden Harbour ).

Have a look at the Main Page. Wurm Online is the MMORPG where the players are in charge! Developed around the idea of player influence, it remains one of the only Sandbox MMOs worthy of the term. They are leaving. Just over 1000 less than played this time last summer. You do also know a dev got cut lose this spring for financial reasons? Week 10 News. So just keep on urging people to leave. You're doing the game a great service.

Well from the graphs seems like things are fine. The people that think the sky is falling are just not as enthused about the game as they were before and that's fine people come and go all the time but as the charts are showing things are fine and are for sure a lot better than 5 years ago. Now i admit that the growth has not been great lately but there has not been much of a loss either just new server crash that always happens.

I guess the number one reason the game has become more unappealing to me was first the VAT tax hike that sent premium time through the roof. When Rolf went on the forums and said there was nothing that could be about the tax hike he was mistaken. If it truly was just to pay for a tax then offsetting silver purchase amounts, increasing deed time covered to every 2-3 months instead of 1 for the same price, or just flat out give us more premium time for what we pay for. That would have made me think it truly was out of his control, but he left it as one of those not my fault and lets keep doing the same thing. Second is when some game mechanic is deemed all of a sudden breaking the rules and dozens are punished for not being able to read the Dev's brains is down right retarded in every form possible. You don't outline game mechanics until something goes wrong. Third, Dev's should not play on PVP SERVERS!!!. I hate pvp in the game but that pisses me off when an important person on the team gets butt hurt and all of a sudden the game is drastically changed or you get the creator himself logging in to appease his staff. Good god why would you even try if the developer cheats his own system. You get a GM that has a stick up his butt and anyone that says anything about it gets a temp ban for trying to call him out for being retarded. Rolf spank your children and send them to bed with no supper rather than give in. Oh and my last little piece, REVERT the enchanted grass nerf MOFOS!!!! The devil has left the building....

I'm very disappointed in the Wurmpedia Team for taking these further steps toward turning the wiki into its own little fiefdom. All of the goals set out by the team could be accomplished without further restricting who can edit the wiki itself. My disappointment could not be any greater, honestly. Now, excuse me while I go finish my boat mine so I can take a much needed break.

Having the name of the deed on a map only helps keep people away. I would like to know why would anyone want to go to a deed just because of a map? In essence you bring more people to an area by not having a deed marked on the map. On a side note, how does showing a deed name give away a hermit? Is there a list of deeds with who owns it somewhere that I don't know about? I thought the only way to know who owns it is by actually being at the deed and inspecting the token. I do want to know how a map marker is going to negatively impact a players gameplay.

By the way, you won't get much in alleviating players' doubts about staff corruption by silencing their slightest mention of staff corruption. You can't cover the sun with a finger.

I have sold a number ( 6) accounts, and slowly trimming my expenses in Wurm . This is being done to move away from the cloak and dagger rules that don't hold up to the game mechanics, with very little thought to the players. We are told to shut up and take it , you cant treat players who pay for a product like mushrooms. Wurm is a great game , but I don't trust the rule makers to be constant and not get personal in their choices. Cheers Dadd

I have attended both. Initially I thought those that held private slayings where being meanies. I felt I was entitled to attend any and all hunts I chose to. Hmmm just because I play Wurm that does not mean it is my right to attend slayings that others have put the work into. Just as I am not entitled to be on the loot roll. If I chose to participate when invited, that is my choice,. just as it is the hosts choice to invite me. After going to several public ones , I now understand what prompts the private hunts. That said the OP was being polite and letting people know when and where to show up in local. How about a thank you? and enjoy or just keep the negativity out of it when someone is trying to do something nice.
