I completely agree with starting a list to boycot people from slayings! I started a private list with greedy buggers that won't be welcome on slayings I host anymore. I don't like dealing with people who throw a fit only because they don't get a chance at getting stuff for free. Thanks for the suggestion!

I used to let passing new players join my village to give them temporary sanction and a place to spawn. With todays level of griefing that is no longer an option. I can easily protect my deed from them but bringing them in also opens any allies to them. A setting that prohibited them from having ally rights, set to default off would solve that.

Well from the graphs seems like things are fine. The people that think the sky is falling are just not as enthused about the game as they were before and that's fine people come and go all the time but as the charts are showing things are fine and are for sure a lot better than 5 years ago. Now i admit that the growth has not been great lately but there has not been much of a loss either just new server crash that always happens.

I have attended both. Initially I thought those that held private slayings where being meanies. I felt I was entitled to attend any and all hunts I chose to. Hmmm just because I play Wurm that does not mean it is my right to attend slayings that others have put the work into. Just as I am not entitled to be on the loot roll. If I chose to participate when invited, that is my choice,. just as it is the hosts choice to invite me. After going to several public ones , I now understand what prompts the private hunts. That said the OP was being polite and letting people know when and where to show up in local. How about a thank you? and enjoy or just keep the negativity out of it when someone is trying to do something nice.

The construction of the first area of the labyrinth is almost complete. Faeran has had some test runs through and found a few glitches that need some attention. The brothers get to work to fix the issues while discussing the upcoming Xanadu impalong among other recent forum topics. Enjoy! >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IbNth5pTaA

I would like to say it was planned to give a bit of comic relief prior to the fun of the kill....I just didn't want Helorn to be the only one to die again at one of our events. Please forgive the slight disorganization, a dual roll setting was missed. Kinda hard to focus looking at a settlement form while I dragon uses your limbs at toothpicks. All in all, I am glad for those that attended, for all its worth wouldn't change a thing. Hope to see yall in future events.

I agree with you on that. But it's also one of the good features of Wurm to support different play styles - and for a lot of people their preferred style is to build castles and cities. It's certainly not my style but their play style is just as valid as mine is. Personally I would like 3 different types of servers in the future: Freedom (PvE, with the current rule-set) Competition (PvP, with a rule set like on Epic now) Survival (PvE, but with Valrei mobs, limited terra-forming and much more difficult building, for example: wooden structures need double the materials they need now, stone structures need 5 times the materials) And - for the time being - just one server for each of these types.

you know what hurts the game?...... When a few instance of griefing happen over the course of years across a few people of the many and new players come here to the forums and see threads like this. Also, Devs have said they are working on these permissions, anything else out side these permissions you have to take some responsibility for protection their stuff.

I always thought of wurmpedia as a separate community-operated entity... now its officially non-official official, ran by the community chosen by wurm for the community not chosen by wurm full of information guessed by the players and fact checked by staff to be as precisely imprecise as possible when documenting undocumented "facts". Why do I feel like most of the people behind wurms curtain are political advisers? I need a drink. Edit: Still waiting on an answer about documenting certain mechanics the playerbase have guessed at. If incorrect information will be removed, will correct information be supplied, where correct information is only obtainable through developers with knowledge of the code? I hope this isnt a situation where many pages filled with 'best guess' are removed of content and left blank until someone eventually gets the right guess.

That would explain the initial "new server rush" but not the sustained growth. We hit a new record (2500 monthly subs) when Deliverance opened, then back down a little, then another new record (3000) for Exodus opened, then quieted down, then yet another record (3500) for Epic, then back down, then back again to 3500 for Celebration. Pristine + Release coincided with the new WURM 1.0 announcement (I think custom characters looks, multistory? some other MAJOR stuff) which lead to lots of Wurm 1.0 publicity and a huge spike to alltime new high 6500 people were paying premium. Everyone hollared of course that so many servers would absolutely kill the game. Then the price hike and everything went to hell and dropped to around 4800 (still better than a few years before). Some bumps up then quiet down as they had some perks (loyalty program, 1.1 update, 1.2 update) but nothing on a par as the big 2013 boom until ... XANADU. Which kicked monthly premiums up over 6000 again. There was a slump after Xanadu, as there always is after the initial new server glow. All those onetime deed alts etc. Some people came back for bridges, some people came back for XYZ, Unless we drop back down to 2000 again, the new servers have done much more good than harm for longterm growth. We have three times as many monthly subs as we did before 2010. (that was also when Roldf allowed F2P players on the main servers, which everyone said was going to kill the game for good.

You can't have complete freedom while having complete safety from risk. That's what people are trying to point out. Mankind hasn't ONCE achieved such a state in any fashion since the dawn of history. So I think we can forgive the game Developers for not figuring that out. Your post is a perfect example of how flexible and powerful Wurm's permission management is. I seriously doubt you would leave such a large portion of your deed open to the public if you were able to be greifed left and right.

I wasn't a valedictorian or anything but... yeah.

Wrong you can it's called gold/silver altars get them blessed by the right priest. However I wouldn't mind if they removed the restriction though for stone/wood altars, its kind of silly.

Not a bad notion. I can see how that would cause problems though in Villages where the Mayor goes on vacation for a while or takes a break. What I would love to see is to scrap the whole useless "track" system in favor of detailed logging. I should be able to pull up a list of who accessed what, and when. Who came though my gates and when. Who entered my structures and when. Etc etc It would help the GM's immensely in punishment and enforcing game rules. It would also give us, the community, the power of knowledge and the ability to name n' shame career griefers. There wouldn't be all this ambiguity about a players history that allows him to charm his way into Villages and Alliances so he can strike again and again. You would have a permanent concrete record following you wherever you went.

Some time ago, maybe 2 years or less (icr) unis where like a damn plague in all servers, I remember at some places in Celebration there was only unicorns spawning and you could go fro miles and rarely see other creature types, then after great public complains, they decided to nerf the crap of the spawn rate I think, so now we have every other creature, but unis are extremely rare. Maybe they need to touch the rate again, put it somewhere in the middle, so they don't become a plague again but spawn more frequently?

When Elevation got reset, we had a spawn of them and there were just a damn ton of them, thought they made a come back Now we just get 5000 hens, roosters and sheep, with additional cows and deer, no unicorns to be seen

Make them go the long way or setup a fenced path with no options for them to get into your deed past that. Heck you can line the entire path with locked fence gates "on deed" and he wouldnt beable to pick them to wander towards your horse area. Better for your peace of mind...

We've all been there. Talking to your friends about League Of Legends or Minecraft, when you decide to mention Wurm Online. You say the name, and your buddies just have this blank look on their face. The reason? Wurm is not popular. Sure, over 1000 people play it, but that seeing that number after you type /who happens only once a week. Sometimes, I wish I could just talk to my friends about Wurm and they know about it, and we have this hour long conversation about how hellhounds are some of the worst monsters out there. I know this game is getting bigger, and I like that. The more players, the more people you can talk to in Local, right? However, imagine if Wurm became "too popular". Here is what might happen: 1. We'll have Minecraft players trying to grief us on Freedom. 2. When a five-year-old gets killed by a 50 fighting skill player, he's gonna whine about hacking. 3. Ever heard of Stampy Longhead or something? Imagine an adult with a high pitched voice talking about how cute octopuses are. 4. When they realize that Wurm takes time, and you can't punch trees. 5. Wurm Online Lego. Yeah, I don't see how that will work. Yeah, I know that I probably sound like a Minecraft hater, but that's the way I see it happening.

They changed it so that you can no longer be a lib priest on chaos and another type of priest on freedom. Now, if you have a lib priest on chaos and wish to bring it to freedom and make it a priest of another deity, you will loose all of your faith as a lib priest on chaos. This happened to my lib priest when I brought it back from chaos. As for the myc. issue on freedom...I don't see why it would be an issue at all. I love the look of mycellium and would love to be able to transform areas into the land of the dead. If this is the only reason for not allowing the libila faith on freedom, then I see no reason not to (unless there is another problem with it).

This has all been very helpful thanks Now I just want to know how to find out which accounts are old enough to keep /transfer and which aren't...

Basically, the normal WL priests act as if you were on freedom, but on chaos. So a 90 faith Vyn priest will be a 90 faith Vyn priest on chaos. However, if you are a 90 faith libila priest on Chaos, you have all the priest restrictions, and can cast BL spells, but when you go over to Freedom, you can be a nonpriest, and void those restrictions. The ability to void those restrictions is where the controversy comes in. and of course, a shameless plug. Join JK
