We all know Wurm is a great game. Nothing compares to the beauty of Celebration waterways, the majesty of Xanadu mountains, the rolling plains of Deliverance, the historical ruins of Independence, the turquoise lakes of Chaos or the deep craters of Elevation. It's a well known fact that you haven't lived till you built your own cart, wiped the sweat off your brow after a day of terraforming, or ran for your life from a giant spider. Nothing tastes sweeter than the stew you cooked yourself over your first fire as a noob, or that refreshing gulp of water from the nearby shore that is somehow yet to see pollution. But all those who have inhabited the magical continents of the game for a while know that all the above pales in comparison to the real treasure of Wurm - WOMEN! Oh yea! Nothing makes the blood run in the veins faster than the melodic "hello" of that female neighbor that owns over a hundred horses, a glimpse of the flowing hair of that lady that is planting even more flowers and always manages to make her deed look better than yours, or the hypnotic hip motions of your female villager as she rakes that field once again in anticipation of a good harvest. Let's face it, everything worth doing is worth doing for women! And so, to celebrate the finest that Wurm has to offer (eat your hearts out Wow and ArchAge), I am hereby presenting the first (to my knowledge) Girls of Wurm Calendar. The best way to experience the calendar is to download the ZIP file, as it is the highest quality. Secondary options are available as well, with reduced quality to facilitate fast viewing. Enjoy! DISCLAIMER: All the featured models are real female Wurm players and are over 18 years of age (uhm... we hope). All, with the exception of Miss April, are unpaid volunteers and are taking part in this project out of the goodness of their hearts and to showcase perfection and induce happiness. Drinking wine in-game increases your water level and stamina and also appears to increase a value I refer to as drunkenness. After drinking wine, a message may be displayed giving a rough indication of your drunkenness level. I am not aware of any way to see a more exact value for drunkenness. If the wine is high QL, you will also get messages about how good the wine is, but those messages are separate. The drunkenness messages in order from least to most drunk are: Normal (no drunkenness message) "You are tipsy." "You are getting drunk." "You are drunk." "You are really really drunk." "You can barely walk." "You are setting some kind of record." When you reach "You can barely walk." your movement speed decreases significantly. It will not increase back from your drunkenness simply decreasing, but relogging and staying logged off long enough to leave the game world can restore your movement speed. However, relogging does not appear to clear drunkenness, so drinking more after such a relog can quickly reduce your movement speed again (or worse). When extremely drunk, it can cause eating/drinking to fail, destroying the food/drink (the entire item). This often occurs at "You can barely walk." and always occurs at "You are setting some kind of record". For food (both solid and liquid foods), it yields this message: "You miss the mouth and it ends up in your face. Who gives a damn?" For drinks, it yields a message of the following form (replacing <drink type> with a drink type): "You spill the <drink type> out. Who cares?" Depending on how drunk you are, there is a chance for "*hic*" and "*burp*" (Sometimes they'll be in all lowercase and other times in all caps.) to be inserted into messages you send in-game, replacing a portion of the messages. This can also affect private messages. There's some randomness to both when it happens and where it's inserted in the messages. Neither QL nor weight of wine appear to significantly affect drunkenness. It seems to increase at about the same rate per drink action regardless of QL and weight consumed. Drunkenness gradually decreases over time. Relogging does not clear drunkenness, but can clear some of the effects from it. Both QL and weight of wine significantly affect how much water is filled by drinking it. QL of wine significantly affects stamina recovery from drinking it, but weight does not appear to. Also, there is an achievement for driving while drunk named "Irresponsible Driving". Its mouseover text is "Haven't you heard? Don't drink and drive!" I got it while driving a large cart around drunk, but I'm not sure of the exact requirements. In particular, I'm not sure if it will work for other vehicles (and if so, which ones), I'm not sure what the minimum drunkenness level to get it is, and I'm not sure of any less obvious (distance, time, etc.) requirements there might be for it.

Haya, this is something I definitely think should be added in. Currently, people can continue items on your deed regardless of permissions, which includes boats. In other words, let's say someone has a ship with a single peg left, some random guy could waltz over and attach it, becoming the owner. I believe this could also be said for even colossi, which would majorly inconvenience the owner of the deed, since they wouldn't even be able to push it. I say that the Continue Building action should be linked in-line with the build permission or be given it's own to prevent theft. I wouldn't apply this ruleset to items such as BsB's or FsB's, but definitely structures such as colossi, guard towers, and especially ships.

Simply to drain money out of freedom for PVPers and try to use this <insert ,alsdjoisajdksalmdx.,sz9 here> to draw people to PVP ? They should be forced on t he character that wins them. Why is it that 1 player can win multiple rewards? The person that has no job can win it all while others just standby and watch? (or played by multiple people)

One of the major problems with all of the customization, options, and stacking is that one feature can affect or be affected by a lot of others. Limiting patches to small, untested changes sent immediately to live servers causes a lot of issues. We need large, sweeping changes complemented by small tweaks that are well planned and extensively tested before being sent to wreak havoc on the players. A lot of the bickering about SotG, polearms, alt abuse, mine/gate hops, hunted/rep, BL spells, or whatever is the hot topic at that time comes from all these poorly thought out quick fixes and major game breaking patches that just mess things up and have left us with what we have now. Now that it's here and it's been here for months or years, people have gotten used to it. Even those who used to complain have stopped because they either have gotten used to it or realized nothing will be done. This is sad. this is a decent/fair observation. what i have liked overall in this discussion , not just this quote but the thread is..it has for the most part stayed to discussing the features and not gone astray into character assassinations. I good healthy debate is one that has strong points on both sides minus the ad hominem. let's do more of this

Often times when terraforming or building, one of the biggest annoyances I have is having to constantly get on/off carts. If you don't you have that wonderful cart bug where you float ahead if you drop dirt while on a cart. I don't think that leading a hitched cart while on foot would be out of the realm of possibility in real life, nor would it allow you to do anything you can't already do in game. I personally think this is long overdue, would be easy to implement, and save players massive headaches.

Mind you: the new look of the lavender plantations is very pretty indeed. They really look like lavender plants, kudos to the graph devs. But: they completely mess up my park which used to have a lot of neat looking low hedges and now suddenly there is messy flowers all over the place. Can't we at least have another low hedge instead? (Plus: I have a pretty large deed and it took me half a year to gather the sprouts for the low hedges I have; not looking forward to cut that all down and start all over.) (Plus: it would be nice if we could have some warning in advance about these kinds of changes. I understand it's all very important to keep us up to date about bridges that aint happening and yes: it's very importants to inform me every week about a new pvp server I don't give a toss about, but you know... maybe there could be one sentence amidst all that exiting stuff about things that.. you know.. are actually added to the game... and are actually screwing up some people's plans.. ? You know.. just a suggestion?)

Sarcasm. Archery was never OP, just as plate wasn't. My point is that these band aid patches keep avoiding the actual problems. The problem doesn't lie with just oak shell. It's a combination of oak shell with hell horses and the archery and armor nerfs that creates problems. When you have a flaming horse running at 40-50 km/h (depending on gear) across a tiny server (Elevation), there's a bit of a problem. You can cross the server in under ten minutes. Add magical armor to it that won't slow it. Now nerf one of two counters to it (archery) and all of these problems keep compounding. The Fo priest has a huge speed advantage over anyone else. He can spend a ton of favor and do this to everyone on his side, and the enemies can do the same. However, this only creates a new dominant strategy, and it screws over anyone in HotS who have nothing comparable and the same broken counter as WL (archery). Before we actually do anything though, we need to recognize the actual problems and fix those, not band aid patch things and avoid fixing the real problems. > Archery sucks and has been nerfed several times over the past couple years or so > Archery should be reverted to before the armor difficulty debuffs, range nerf, and overall difficulty nerf (and all of the skill and stat gain changes) > Hell horses are superior to regular horses - their downsides don't create a reason not to use them, so regular horses are generally only used as primaries by newbies; this issue is worsened by oak shell, not created by it > While hell horses may need a small nerf, an attempt should be made to buff something about regular horses to make them more desirable or give them a situational use (ie. increased natural armor/health pool, remove foal state, remove variable speed for random speed trait toggle, allow an extra led creature without CR nerf, etc.) > Oak shell on hell horses is currently too good > Implement other changes to fix the other root problems, then check to see if this is still an issue and work from there (hopefully, it won't be) > This will probably negatively impact PvE > Don't change it on PvE, it's that simple One of the major problems with all of the customization, options, and stacking is that one feature can affect or be affected by a lot of others. Limiting patches to small, untested changes sent immediately to live servers causes a lot of issues. We need large, sweeping changes complemented by small tweaks that are well planned and extensively tested before being sent to wreak havoc on the players. Here's a question: Why are there 3 different PvP servers?
  35. 1 point
It's the loss of choice that is the problem. A design choice was made based on the old low hedge look. Dramatic change occurred and now the hedges look different. Even worse there is no other choice available that would provide the same look if desired. That's the real problem here. ~Nappy

Since they have the coding worked out for hitching to tents why not just be able to hitch them to the boat, this way if your traveling you can hitch them over night to keep them safe. Would also stay hitched while getting on or off.

I'm not a PvPer, but to my understanding the whole fairly recent cooldown addition to Oakshell was to make it less "overpowered". It can't be spammed to avoid the Dispel. Even before that it took 20 favor to cast Oakshell and only 10 favor to cast Dispel (ignoring the chance to fail to dispel the enhancement). There's a 30 second cooldown now. Dispel a just-applied Oakshell and you'll have up to 25 seconds in which the Fo priest has no armour unless he equips actual armour. After that, within the 10 seconds of casting Oakshell you can still interrupt that casting by hitting hard enough, as far as I know (I've had puny sheep interrupt my Oakshell casts uarmoured with very light hits). Once the Fo priest manages to cast Oakshell on him/her again, and he did end up using armour in between, you still have time until he has unequipped it all in which you damage him as though he has normal armour on (armoured body parts are not affected by Oakshell). Multiple moments in which you can attack the opponent without Oakshell bothering you, and once the end of above's scenario has occurred, simply go back to casting Dispel on the opponent. Rinse repeat. (Again, I'm no PvPer, but I'd like to think this method is far more effective than just leaving the Oakshell on, which to me sounds like what happened to draw the conclusion Oakshell is supposedly OP and should be nerfed or whatever. Also, pls no nerfs that will affect PvE usefulness, if for some silly reason a nerf seems due.)

hey i remember when we were BL, and we consistently won 5v20+ vs 6-8 fo priests to our 2 lib your testing is bad, you pick the playing field and you will win every time. your inexperience is not a substitute for proper testing. Proper usage of libila spells requires experience, its the same reason HOL lost every fight against anyone who knew what they were doing. Lib is the most OP god in the game by a landslide.

CA's have coloured text in CA Help so that they can be easier to pick out for newer players. It also helps to indicate to new players that these are staff members and their answers are (usually - everyone makes mistakes) believable and not trollish. Their requests to keep chat clean etc or where is a suitable channel for a particular topic are also to be followed as part of their job is to ensure CA Help remains solely for the discussion of game mechanics. CM's have the above plus the ability to mutewarn and mute players for overstepping the bounds of the chat rules. Muting results in the player unable to use the various wurm chat channels for a set amount of time (determined by the CM at the time on a number of variables) GM's have all sorts of powers in game including being able to rip your heart out - so do what they say Arch GM's have a couple of capabilities not available to GM's. Dev accounts have further abilities that Arch GM's don't have though their remit doesn't generally include getting involved with in-game matters involving players. Edit: Oh, and there are board and forum mods who have various powers in the forums, but not in game unless they are a CA or above too.

Woot. Congrats on your first deed, Club Code AB. Here are a few tips from a veteran deed holder that may help you out: 1. Put your deed marker in the middle of the deed, if you can (this may be your hallway). Nothing worse than running around aimlessly when you need to suddenly withdraw some silver (or kronor). 2. Place your mailbox next to your deed marker, for the same reasons as above. 3. Lawn is your friend. Or in your case, a carpet. When it's fall, we all have trouble seeing our dogs or chicken in the thick grass. Similarly, if you drop a pen in your office, same problem. Closely cropped carpet will help. 4. Make a ship transporter (ie: car trailer) and park it on the first floor. The lake is just a few blocks away from you and as we have all discovered, sooner or later you'll need to pick something up via water. 5. Terraform responsibly. You may like mounds and raised floors in your offices, but your neighbors may not. 6. Plant some trees. In your case, in pots. This is important. Sooner or later, you'll appreciate some nature around. Also, an oleander bush has not hurt anyone yet. Yet! 7. Put at least one bed on your deed. Sooner or later it will be a long night at work and a trip to that bed you always use will be just too much trouble. Besides, sleep bonus is king. 8. Put a sign with the deed name somewhere by the entrance. Nothing worse for visitors than wondering if after travelling for so long they are actually in the right place. 9. Never take your roofs for granted. Make double protection. For some reason, even with a full roof it usually still rains indoors in most buildings on our deeds, so don't let nature win. 10. Make a few fine fishing rods. Because there will come a time, after a hard spell at work or after some aggressive Town Square activity, when you will just have to take the slope down to the ground level (stairs), hitch your ship transporter, take it to the lake, throw the boat on that lake and just go fishing. We've all been there. Congrats!

A few months ago I bred an 8-trait five-speed hell horse. This wasn't an ordinary hell horse, though. It had a wonderful name, blending in my mind the richness of commerce and the beauty of nature. I rode no other horse for weeks. We were the best of friends, inseparable. Tragically, while riding my friend to the troll king slaying in the north of Independence I got lost, and fearing I would miss the event, I accepted an invitation to the settlement where the fight would take place so I could Recall Home there. In my haste I had to leave behind my cherished horse, who I left wandering the wilderness, hoping that his death would cause me less pain because it would take place out of sight. But never not out of mind. Wonder of wonders, fast forward weeks or months (I lost track of time mourning my dear friend) and someone sends me a message asking if this 8-trait hell horse they found wandering near Samling was mine! Sure enough, it was, and on my next return to Independence I hope to be reunited with my pal at last. I'll see you soon, Goldenrain!

Id like to see a title for just playing the first round - or maybe the second .For example something like Rider of Lomaner given out on other servers (doesnt mean anything or give any extra benefit ) but just shows that you participated in Challenge. With one person winning the majority of the few titles given out this would be one way of people who cant be on 24/24 or be part of a zerg or strong active kingdom feel like they are or were a valued part of Challenge.

I will add hedges in next update even if all of them will still look like broken. As you probably see, there were no updates recently, but don't worry - I will be able to develop faster in about 1 month. Currently I am working on major change which will allow to copy/paste map fragments. Engine improvements allowed me to add some new or improved features, including materials calculations for selected shape and improved height editing. Copy/paste map fragments is working as well, but I still need to add proper GUI for it and add unusual situations handling. Edit: ctrl+c ctrl+v

In addition to what Solmark posted: -Cathedral dedicated to Vynora, Fo, and Magranon. -Full Arena with spectating levels for viewing as well as a 5x9 combat area. -5x7 plots to call home and build any sort of house you'd like (we only ask no 10 story houses please) -We are here to stay, you won't login to find yourself homeless or your belongings looted. -Deed size permits safely keeping up to a maximum of 117 animals on deed. -Deed is fully fenced in, it's safe to afk. Current projects: -building platforms in the sea for the upcoming release of bridges, goal is to link the island to the mainland -working on Solmark's boatcave harbor -being awesome. Some jobs just never end ^.~ The only skill you will ever be asked to grind is your Fight Skill to 50. It's perfectly safe within the walls but the island is big and there are quite a few spawns (at least 4 known lairs). You need to be able to protect yourself. There are 4 guard towers on the island that can assist you as well. There's no rush, can be done at your leisure. I will "like" your post, and you're going to like it. Ninjaedit: The post from nosfirebird below me seems pretty mad, doesn't it? The bluster about how hes gotten away with murder seems like false bravado. He even made alts to upvote his post, before spamming the forums with nude pictures to get that alt banned after he got called out on it, so it can't be lead back to him. However, all of the recently deleted whining threads in the past 12 hours about how his alts "got banned unfairly" under forum names with less than 10 posts leads me to believe he got pegged hard. Really hard. I wonder how much he lost in the bannings. I hope it was a lot. These lies in a pathetic attempt to raise his notoriety makes it seem like it's all he has left. Kind of reminds me of Boston's fall from grace. Considering nosfirebird is a known liar, and considering he only came out to brag after he got banned - I'm betting he just got owned and won't admit it to save face. It's kind of sad, really. Maybe it's time he sought psychiatric help for that inferiority complex. Kudos to CodeClubAB on a job well done. Hearing cheaters cry is the best Christmas present you could have ever given us.

When I first stepped into Wurm in 2008 the first thing that struck me was the fact that absolutely everything I was seeing was player built. It was the first feature described to me by my friend, who was introducing me to the game, and it was shocking because I had no previous experience with any game that was so heavily player driven. Other MMOs I had experience with would always populate the land with pre-built villages, landscapes, and NPCs. A fully fleshed out world that you were meant to explore and utilize. But Wurm didn't do that. Wurm gave me a few tools and said "go... make something of this place". The second thing that struck me was the level of access I had to altering the world. I could dig the dirt, which altered the landscape, and could use that dirt to again alter the landscape. Land shaping was a completely alien concept to me in a game world and it literally blew my mind when I first realized it. Later I was exposed to other features that were equally impressive. Like a crafting system that forced me to work from the absolute basic raw materials all the way through a production infrastructure to a completed product. And not just for a few items or accessories either, but literally hundreds of unique objects and items that were in the game at the time (many more have since been added). And 95% (I've excluded furniture and eating utensils) of those were not just useful, but many were necessary to building a... home. At the time (again remember this is 2008) I had never experienced a game that let me build a home. A place designed, built, and maintained by me. I could make it however I wanted, where ever I wanted, and change it whenever I felt the urge. Wurm touched my life before the concept of a persistent sandbox MMO had even been an idea for me. It blew me out of the water with the possibilities for customization and just overall depth. The world of Wurm is what WE the players make of it. It is, in a way, OURS. Given fully and willingly to us by the developers, to do with as we please. And what really makes me love Wurm, and keeps me coming back to it... Is that its still here. Wurm has existed for coming up on a decade and its not in any danger of ceasing that lineage. My village, that I crafted out of the side of a mountain, is over a year old. And thats young by Wurm standards. There are villages on other servers that have histories going back five years or more. Villages that have welcomed children into the world, seen relationships and marriages develop. Wurm has brought people together and let them build a community together. There is literally no other game that hits all of these landmarks, I've looked. EVE Online is the only other MMO that comes close. Because it is also very old, stable, and has a massive world with a dynamic society. But you can't shape EVE Online. You can't build a home in EVE Online. There is a rich player driven economy and goods system. One of the most unique and volatile political systems in any game ever. And a powerful community of dedicated players. But its still just a giant prefabricated world that you just inhabit, its not YOURS. When Minecraft was introduced by Notch (who of course was also responsible for the creation of Wurm) it hit a lot of the same marks. It was a world built entirely by the player, you were handed the tools and given access to do with the game as you pleased. But it was not persistent, especially in the beginning. You could build a house... or a castle... but it just didn't have the same feel as Wurm. And I believe that Brash_Endeavors said it best in a different thread. My home in Wurm needs me. If I do not maintain it, then it will decay and disappear. If I do not care for my animals they will grow sick and starve. My presence is important to Wurm, I keep the crops growing, the animals thriving, and the walls repaired. If Wurm was somehow cut off from its players and ran for a year, the nature mechanics in the game would overtake it. I can not think of any other game that could say the same. TL;DR There is no game that has ever compared to Wurm in my eyes. Even Minecraft is but a pale imitation to what Wurm has achieved. And all those 'Minecraft ripoffs' are trying to imitate a game that was always, to me, an imitation of the original. Nothing compares.
