Town Square "General wurm-related discussion goes here, like discussing movement speed on tar or figuring out what the latest client update did." This is a quote from the top of the page if you click on Town Square, as you can see it clearly states "General Wurm-Related discussion." PvP is a part of Wurm too you know.

I think it would be nice if we could have a way to where we can have a single key to do more than one kind of action. For example, I have my main "action" keybind, F, and I typically bind it to whatever I'm currently working on, such as MINE_FORWARD, CUT_DOWN, or DIG. It would be nice I could, for example, have F bound to all of the above commands at once; or G to both Target and Activate. I think it could work via the following command (or could be replaced with and, even): Command: bind <Key> <ACTION 1> or <ACTION 2> or <ACTION 3> Examples: Bind G TARGET or ACTIVATE Bind F MINE_FORWARD or CUT_DOWN or DIG It would make sense, in my head, to have digging and mining being bound at the same time because you can't mine with a shovel, or dig with a pickaxe. It simply would require you to have the tool activated for whichever bind you're currently trying to do, as it does now. Any comments?

What Firecat said. Also there is no centered PvP section, just Chaos, Epic and Challenge. But PvP affects them all so posting in one of them wouldn't be very useful. Town Square is the correct section for pvp related discussions.

The first distinction to be made is many if not the vast majority of pvp players also play on freedom and are ever as much part of freedom. Moreover, town square is an open venue for many wurm related game topics. all are free to post there within the town square topic parameters. lastly I'm not sure it's healthy ever to create an us vs them mentality as it's divisive. All who play wurm are wurmians wether pvp or pve. I myself play both and consider myself part of both and hope to be embraced by both. If ever anyone feels a post is inappropriate, offensive, or misplaced, use the report function and state reasons and the proper channels of forum moderation will be innacted for review.

Hi everyone, So much drama and distasteful stuff going on here. Few observations: 1. When I heard my daughter is very unwell and in hospital and that we should come to her, I did not have a lot of time to organise things or tell people. Most people who found out, heard from my alliance or from Robby here in this post. Yet I received 27 messages from different people to wish me well and to say that for them as well, wellbeing of loved ones come first. I want to say to everyone who took the time to show this kindness, thank you. You guys may not be the vocal minority, but the maturity and empathy you showed in a difficult situation really carried me as it came from where I least expected it. 2. Seems some folk are getting very upset because the cast may not have gone ahead, in the situation I face at the moment all I can really think to say to them is what my grandma always said: settle your kettle. 3. We realised RoS was castable a few weeks ago, and as we wanted to share it with many people during the imp along, we invited other priests and made a community announcement instead of rogue casting it. If everyone who was going to be on release benefiting from the cast prayed like requested, the cast would have been successful a week ago when it was originally scheduled. So now, to everyone so concerned about people from other servers "specially planning" to attend this event on release, I hope you are aware that if these folk want to help make this a success to be castes on time, they really should support us by coming over a few days in advance to come pray else it will not matter whether the priests are ready, it will not be castable. 4. I agree with conn - doing a ninja cast is as low as kiting a dragon earmarked for server wide slaying into a mine so just a select few can benefit from it. In summary for those avoiding the TL:DR Since some priests, mentioned in a post previously, wanted to participate and took the time to show up and be ready a week ago, please allow them to still cast on the scheduled time in the countdown timer here. I would have loved to see this through, and thank those wIlling to put their SB gain on hold for three more days, but perhaps it is better to just cast it on the time specified here. Although I cannot bring our priest, it is still fine to go ahead as with the rest of the group we put together, there will be way more than favour needed. And everyone planning to be online to benefit, please pray on release. If it is again not castable, I will adjust the timer. Let's hope for 5 hours sleep bonus, everyone!

Got an idea for a new Fo spell (don't kill me for this, I don't know much about spells): Domesticate - Would allow a Fo priest to make certain aggro animals neutral to all players while on a deed. RESTRICTIONS! - the animal must be tamable (no trolls, lava fiends, goblins, etc), must be on deed, and must be either tamed or charmed at the time of casting. Only young or adolescent animals can be domesticated (older animals have been wild too long to be domesticated). The purpose of the spell is to allow players the ability to keep aggro animals on deed and possibly remove the Guard attack exploit that some griefers use to kill animals on deeds. This gives the players the ability to feed/ breed their captured animals without risking attack, and also keeps the animals from attacking each other (Basically, they would be treated as if they were like dogs). The spell would be permanent while the animal is on deed. If the deed falls or is disbanded, or the animal is off deed for a specified amount of time (and not tame), then the animal will return to wild/aggro status as before. Any newborn animals created from breeding would start off wild, and must be tamed and domesticated as per above.

As a pve only player I find this topic pretty irrelevant. I may not play pvp but im a big follower of all things Wurm and find the different attitudes and personalities found within the pvp community to be entertaining and informative. Please don't limit my access to information because you believe it is irrelevant.

This has been a problem for as far back as I can remember but I would like to bring this issue to the forefront in hopes that the devs may look into it and create a fix. When ever you are driving a cart/wagon and you drop dirt on the tile that the cart/wagon is on, then the wagon wont move with the driver anymore but rather lags behind it. The same thing happens when you pave the tile that the cart/wagon is on. This gets fixed when you disembark and embark again, but this is a rather annoying fix when you have a very large area to drop dirt on or to pave. Please fix this so that the driver and cart/wagon remain in sync after these actions.

Forum Moderators. There has been a recent trend to make many pvp centered posts within Town Square when there are clearly pvp forum sections labeled for others to post within that deal with these questions/issues. I find it puzzling that pvp players continue to seek attention by posting here when there are existing pvp forum sections available to these pvp players that directly address these various posted topics. Why you Forum Moderators allow these pvp players to post within Town Square is puzzling as well. My opinion is that this needs to be stopped and these pvp centered posts should now and in the future be moved to the proper forum sections, just as is your policy with other posts made within sections where they are not best suited. Preferential treatment such as this is never a good idea, much less in this case where the PVE player base has little knowledge nor interest in these topics. =Ayes=

Not everyone has access to Chaos / Epic forums. PvE and PvP share the same mechanics, that's why it would be rather unfair to not allow PvE people cast their votes on something that will also affect them.

Hello Holiday Wurmians! We have enjoyed a lot of changes to Wurm Online from the development team in the last year, and while the holidays are usually a time for festive activities, we have also had to endure some antics on behalf of a few specific individuals who have been very very naughty. We enjoy a great latitude of freedom in the abilities and creativity that can be achieved in the world of Wurm Online, but with that freedom, sometimes comes unintended results and situations where such an open system gets used against itself. This is not a failure of the system, but a choice made by individuals who actively work towards the harm of the game and its members. This is where the Game Masters come into action. We not only mediate the rules and apply them to all situations evenly in order to help with minor in-game issues that sometimes arise, we handle and judge the situations where the rules and even the game mechanics are used in a negative manner against our members. It is a fact of life that in any social environment there will be complications and mischievous behavior, however, sometimes someone comes along and crosses the line from bad social behavior to game breaking behavior. Recently, there have been a few individuals who have been abusing the mechanics of Wurm Online in ways that are clearly not intended on PVE servers. I am referring to the blatant stealing and theft of deeds and items from the resident citizens of the deeds. The mechanics that made this possible have very important functions in the lives of the citizens of those deeds, yet a few people have decided to use those same mechanics as a means of conducting PVP style raids on PVE servers and steal deeds and or items they should not have. This is covered by the rules. Cheating Definition: * Obvious abuse of any exploit, bug or other method of gaining skill/items that is not as intended. (macros are covered by the rule above) These situations clearly fall under this rule. We have reviewed a lot of information concerning these recent matters and have established a pattern of repeated abuses perpetrated by these individuals. After some consultation between the GM team and Code Club AB we have decided to remove these offenders from Wurm Online. Happy Holidays, Wurm Online Team

Regardless of who you are or what you have said in the past, I'm not going to judge anyone, so I expect the same from everyone else. This is a serious poll that shouldn't be taken lightly. Pretty simple. I'd like to see why PvE players don't like PvP. There are a few options in there for established players as well. This might help the developers if they decide to take on properly balancing and fixing PvP after Challenge is set up. I think most PvP players feel that bringing in skeptical PvE players could help ease the tension and break the misconceptions, as well as up the population counts on PvP servers. Many people will call out some of the options in the poll as misconceptions, because quite frankly most of them are. Regardless, many people feel that way and it's good to understand what people feel and consider what can be done to fix it. Feel free to discuss this below, but keep it on topic.

Was looking to remove 3 unneeded rows to save a tiny bit of upkeep, but it kept saying 'this change will cost 5s'. I then changed nothing, went through the menus on resize, and by changing nothing at all, it still said 'this change will cost 5s'. I checked a different deed that was not renamed, and it did not have this 5s fee. Deed was renamed a long time ago, probably 1.5 years? Maybe longer not sure. I'm unaware by memory if the deed was resized after the rename, but if it was it likely was within the 6 month no-rename period, if that matters. Could be tied to that, resizing after 6 months thinks it's a rename

I don't really share the feeling of hostility I detect here towards PVP players, but nor am I willing to entertain the illusion that this thread is anything more than an intel gathering exercise which will feed two things: More requests to Rolf to spend time on "fixing" PVP to get its playerbase back up More recruitment of PVE-only players into PVP. A classic sales tactic is to anticipate someone's reservations about the sale before they get to them and head them off at the pass. This survey will help you do that. Now I've got nothing really against PVP players doing these things and I understand why they're done. But please don't insult my intelligence by saying this thread is a scientific study for curiosity's sake.

FIrst of all, many dominant strategies have grown around shield of the gone. Enlightening is an option for those who know how. The others usually go hate (for damage bonus at level 7) until about 60 meditation skill, then switch to insanity path while grinding to 70 skill for shield of the gone. Another is the simple fact that most PvP players go for it. A few go for power because the stamina drain reduction is a pretty useful bonus, and the ability to negate frost brand and flaming aura at level 9 is also very good. Very few use knowledge because it has no benefit during combat, only during skilling, an act of preparation. Love is generally use only on alts for grass because its level 11 is effectively useless. Shield of the gone is like WoA shortswords used to be - an overpowered dominant strategy that decided fights based on WoA cast. Now it's whoever has the most gone players, except now people try to run when a bunch of gone pop local, which is also a bad thing. No one runs when someone with 99 fight skill, archery, etc. pops local because those have useful bonuses that aren't completely overpowered. I you have ever played Battlefield 3, then you should understand that shield of the gone follows the exact same principle as the M16A3. That gun was great overall and could destroy players using other weapons that should have had a statistical advantage in a given situation, but were beaten by the all around nature of the M16A3 that had almost no shortcomings in any situation. It was just too good. Combine that with the fact that it was assault exclusive, which means that players using it had medkits to AoE heal mid combat, and stuff gets really bad. The controversy was the same as with gone - all the M16A3 fanbois couldn't admit that their dominant strategy, which was objectively better than anything else, was overpowered. It was not nerfed out of greed because the majority of the paying customers used this gun. With that in mind, any feature of any multiplayer online game, regardless of genre, must be balanced to have advantages and disadvantages and be optimized to fit one or more specific roles, but not be amazing at everything. A main advantage of gone is that it has almost zero reliance on the RNG - it gives 50% damage reduction in addition to the RNG defense aids (block, parry, glance, opponent's hit/miss, etc.) Compared to the other paths, power is the second best, but still falls short by quite a bit. Level 9 negates elemental damage, including fire/ice pillars and damage enchants. The former is fine for avoiding hurting status, but sitting on a pillar alone will get you killed due to separation from the group. The latter is actually quite good, and gives a very slight bonus to rotting touch users, which do not have a reduction against this ability (rotting touch is otherwise inferior to frost brand/flaming aura). The stamina bonus is nice for driving boats, carrying loot and heavy items, and almost anything else you can think of. It can be argued that a player with vibrant light could stun-lock and special move spam the gone player to zero stamina, then finish him. This is not as plausible as it sounds when you factor in current health as a hard cap on stamina, and special moves cannot be used until about 30 seconds into a fight. This also suggests a 1v1 situation, which is very rare. Vibrant light has very little effect in a group setting compared to gone. The player's lifespan remains roughly the same, while the gone player's is doubled. The damage reduction from elemental immunity is variable and relies on the aggressor's use of frost brand or flaming aura, as well as the cast power. The actual reduction caps at about 34.4% (against a 103 cast, which is rare), while gone is still 50.0% While the stamina reduction is very good, its outcome relies heavily on the RNG because it only delays the massive penalties to combat ability and moving speed that would undoubtedly result in death at 0 stamina - your defensive and offensive capabilities remain the same in magnitude and rely on the RNG, only being increased in duration. Gone users have their defensive capabilities in terms of damage reduction increased independently of the RNG and are further aided by RNG rolls on other defensive capabilities (block, parry, etc.) as well maintaining offensive effectiveness. Double life transfer from path of love sounds great to those who don't know how life transfer actually works. Level 11 path of love is effectively useless in PvP. It can only heal one wound at a time, and it always heals the most recent one. This means that you end up healing a lot of AoSP, shield bash, and frost brand wounds that are often very small and would have been full healed without double healing. The full amount of healing is often not seen without a bonus, with the bonus it is nearly unheard of to take full advantage of it. You also can heal with your hands, meaning you don't have to use cotton, but those few kilograms aren't worthy of a level 11 path, and LT is much more useful in PvE where weight doesn't matter quite as much. Level 4 is probably the most useful for PvP due to the instant stamina regen, which is still vastly outclassed by vibrant light. This path relies the most heavily on the RNG because it requires you to land a hit to feel the primary effects of this path. If you don't hit the target, you get no benefit whatsoever from the double LT effect. Gone users have the damage reduction and gain the normal amount of healing from LT, which is still usually the same as someone would gain under this path due to the broken LT function. Hate provides spell immunity, but this only affects those cast directly on the player. It is activated and on a timer with a cool down, much like level 7 hate. It is the only level 11 ability to have this function. It is a functional counter to spell spam, which is not supposed to be an aspect of PvP anyway, meaning that actually fixing the spell spam problem would make this ability nearly useless. It also relies on the use of spells, which is not definite and even with spell changes, is generally only a nuisance against Libila priests. There is no justification for a level 11 to be best suited to fighting one type of priest. This doesn't really rely on the RNG, but it does rely on the opponent using a specific strategy. This is actually a good thing except that the specific strategy is not widely available and results in effect only being effective against black lighters. Knowledge gives its effect during skill training, the only level 11 ability to only affect the preparation stage as opposed to directly impacting combat. Love comes close to fitting this description, but just barely falls short. This relies on the RNG for skill tick frequency, but still does not have a great impact during PvP. It also relies on the player's willingness to grind and will have little effect for those who play very casually. With all of this said, I would like to point out a few things. First is that people will argue that gone users chose the best option and should be rewarded for that. This is a completely invalid argument because there should be no overall best option, that is an imbalance that needs to be fixed. The same is true for arguing that it took a long time. Secondly, people call targets based on priority. Gone and champ are the only factors that automatically get you put on the bottom of the list because you are the hardest to kill just for choosing one meditation path. A 99/99/99 (fight/weapon/shield) player with 70 body would be targeted and killed if focused by several enemy players before an 80/80/80 50 body gone player, who would take longer to kill than the former because of one specific ability on one path tied to one skill. Lastly, the way gone stacks with healing abilities is broken - healing is received at the normal rate, making gone players even harder to kill. Allegedly, gone is supposed to reduce damage and healing by 50%. It doesn't. As usual, the majority of the players arguing against this have gone or allies with gone and don't want themselves nerfed balanced. The facts point to this ability being objectively overpowered, and those who deny it are lying to themselves. Fix this now. EDIT: Please don't break PvE servers and start another massive PvP vs. PvE "you got us nerfed" whine fest. Players think this is OP, not wild cats.

Because its fighting for the sake of fiighting. There is no benifit to the player other than that of being able to fight other players. There needs to be very good reason to engage in a pvp battle especially in Wurm as losses in some cases can take a long time to recover from. So why would anyone that likes the PvE side of things want to waste time, effort and money on pvp? Whats the reward other than perhaps some Epeen bragging rights. The concept of PvP in wurm is more like a boardgame rather than any MMO. Its just fighting for fightings sake. If your going to PvP just for the sake of fighting..take some clues from Rift or WOW (Fast paced, No real losses, lots of eye candy and Epeen)...If your going to have PvP based on or worked into the economy then take some clues from Eve or Archage (Fast paced, Real Losses, but recoverable in some to most cases, and battles have meaningful effects on the rest of the server/world/whatever, Economic tie ins). Here is another thing -battles must impart some excitement, not "Great im a meat shield or im going to get ganked as soon as I step on the field", real excitement, players must feel like they have a chance to contribute to the sucess of that battle other than being a meat shield. They should feel like they have a niche, someway they can contribute, even if only a small contributuion. Perhaps if trade was tied in they could not deal with the main sieges, they could sneak in supply ships (Naval warfare?). The list is endless on how this could be achieved. Bottom line is, there is no reward for those that enjoy the pve side of things. Building castles and forts and such is fine, but not so much when they have no real meaning and the combat tactics have pigeon holed construction to nearly a single "type"/"layout". Here its clear the way these things are built have one way they should be built and all the creativity that pve'ers get enjoyment out of is carted off and thrown over the side of the cliff. And this whole concept is not limited just to pvp...its the same for pve - building for buildings sake alone is not enough...it must mean something. The people that play pve enjoy aspects of creation. The ability to be creative. When you introduce the ability to destroy what they worked so hard and long to build with no reward.... then there is no point.
