Rolf, I will never use any website specifically designed for the illicit traffic of goods. That's what Playerauctions is, a website specifically designed for disallowed trading outside of the control of other game owners. By encouraging your player base to use a site like this, you weaken the intellectual property rights of all game owners. If I know a guy sitting at the corner in a van is selling stolen DVD players, I'm not going to go up to them and buy a used cellphone. Think it through. It's harmful to the entire MMO industry if you help legitimize scumbags like this. It's bigger than just buying characters or currency.

I miss the option "I couldnt care less". We all know Rolf gets a flamewar of vulcanic proportions over him each time he tries to link a "third party" to Wurm. * The sites that could earn you some silver for filling in forms and Q&A * The program that let you bitcoin-ish to get ingame silver * Recruiting that youtuber to play Wurm * And now this auction site I do like to read all the discussions after such an announcement, and each time I wonder why people can react so furiously. Some of these replies (especially in the topic Rolf made in City Hall), give me the impresion that Rolf has ruined their life, that Rolf has drained every last bit of what little joy they could get, out of their Wurm-experience. Were you forced to fill out the forms for silver? => No Were you forced to bitcoin-mine? => No Are you being forced to use the auction site? => No It's as simple as that, you were never forced to do any of those things Rolf presented. All of those were options for you to earn silver by other means (or, in case of playerauction,in a "slightly" safer way). Ok, you can be angry perhaps and say Rolf is breaking his own ToS by suggesting this site. But then again, Rolf always promoted real life trading of EVERYTHING in Wurm (from accounts, to deeds, to items to pure currency itself, even services). So in the end, for Wurm, that site isnt breaking any real Wurm-ToS, since the creator of this game is allowing it on Wurm's official forums and said nummerous times over and over again, that he supports real life money trades 100%. (this was actually one of the things that helped me get interested in Wurm 4-5 years ago, the fact that I could earn silver ingame, and maybe one day, when I got bored, could sell for euros again) True, the site offers trading for games that dont allow it, but why would you care? Is it bad in any way for your Wurm experience that EVE currency is sold? Are you loosing out on some part of Wurm because they sell Runescape party hats? I can understand that you can get frustrated and angry simply because of the principal of it all, but really, each time I see so many downright paranoid and negative reactions, I wonder if something is wrong mentally with the person to get so angry/paranoid over something like this, something that hasnt affected them in the slightest way other then colliding with a sence of justice, a sence of wrong/right. I wont use the site, because I feel its shady? Because it breaks ToS's? Because it takes paycuts?... No, because I was given an option, an option which I simply didnt choose, because I'm happy with the options we always had/have in the past and current and future (forums, alliance trading, ingame pm/channels). Now to put on my paranoid 99ql woolen cap: In the city hall, PlayerAuctions said "we decided to take it slow, so its only an option", you could see it as: "In the future, Playerauctions will be the only way". Scary right? But then again, should it come to that, what stops us from making an IRC-trade channel, what stops us from making an unofficial Wurm-trade-forum? It would all be equally legal like that playerauction thingy, unless Rolf bans every other way of trading besides Playerauctions. But seriously, do you think Rolf is that stupid? Do you think the DEV's working in the office in Sweden wont slap Rolf in the back of his head when he tries to do it, slap him really hard? Restricting the players in such a way would be virtual suicide for Wurm, and I cant imagen Rolf doesnt know/see that. Anyways, the current forum trade system (for real life money), is very based on trust. When you do not know a player, and he wants to sell a drake for real life money. You are going to look abit into it ingame if other (more trustworthy) players know him/her, or if he sold anything in the past. Altho trades-gone wrong will exist, I have a feeling the current percentage of real scam-trades is very low, simply because we pay attention to who is selling. And in the end, if you still dont trust it, dont buy. Wurm has been, and always will be, a game where you build up trust, make yourself known on the forum/ingame. Reputation is vital, mess up one time, and your reputation is down the drain. Someone with a bad reputation usually gets KOS'd server wide or is known not to trade with. Someone with a good reputation, people will buy off gold/items with an almost 100% safe feeling (and can actually serve as some kind of middleman in some cases that I've seen in the past). In this case, if you dont trust this new 3d party on the market called "www.Playerauctions.com", then dont deal with it, stay clear of it and go enjoy surfacemining, crafting, fighting exploring in Wurm again.

Alright, so I went ahead and purchased 1 "silver deal" from the player auctions website to see how it worked. My method of payment was through a visa card which had an extra $5 fee with it as a service charge or something, not a huge deal. I did have to type in my personal info a few times throughout the process, once to verify the payment source, and once to actually make the payment, but its not more information than amazon asks for so okay. The part that was a bit odd was that I received an email from them saying they had to call me and confirm the order details to verify the payment. The first time they called me I had gone to bed, so earlier I sent them an email back saying I was at home and they called within minutes of me sending it. I asked if that was something they did every time and was told no just for that purchase. Not sure why, perhaps because the purchase exceeded a certain amount or perhaps because it was my first purchase with that payment method through them. All in all the site is a bit clunky, but it works. I get that most of it is for protecting peoples accounts, but paypal is much faster and more user friendly. I was planning on buying a gold from the shop after I got my winter bonus anyway so I figured I'd give it a shot. Seems that the gold was deposited into my bank instantly after I got the payment verified but thats seller end, so good work there . In my opinion unless you don't trust the person you are buying from its significantly faster to use paypal or just trade silvers in game if purchasing an item. I don't think its a bad thing to have as an option, you have three options now; paypal, silvers in game or player auctions. the bad part is people seem to act like Rolf is trying to make it their only option when its simply an additional one.

LOL in the end this is all so irrelevant. People will vote with their wallets. The only downside of that is that once a player has left, deeds, decayed, ships/buildings rotted and long gone etc, it's harder to resume Wurm Online than it is most traditional MMO's Once you invest months surface mining the terrain to match your vision, digging 1000's of dirt to suit your needs, grinding skills to create what you want, it scares the living heck out of a player to read things like this and wonder what the underlying motivations are and what the future holds for the investment of not the dollars, but the sheer almost embarrassing amount of hours that they have invested. My current monthly outgoing supports 5 active accounts and a 141 x 56 deed. The average player here does not seem to be stupid. They read into every little nuanced decision (which from a game design/focus/polish perspective itself is somewhat disconcerting), analyze every word choice in the weekly wurm update, attempt to decipher where the game will be in the future and how it will impact them and their playstyle Promotions like this and the raw insistence behind its acceptance is unnerving.

recipe for success? bacon. just add bacon, it makes everything better. . . ok, on a more serious note. -spend some time on balancing out and fleshing out existing content, cooking, permissions, sailing, etc. -a small server (200x200 tiles perhaps) to hold special events. allow FREEDOM players to build portals to it, they arrive at one huge portal there, and when returning go back to exactly the same spot they left from. GM's would control the server, wiping it and helping to set up events there on a semi-regular basis such as impalongs, zombie battles, etc. (in the case of the impalongs GM support would be limited to landscaping, players would still have control of building etc and no ore would exist on the event server it would have to be brought in) -a similar server if desired by those on epic, but the nature of the play there would seem to make such an undertaking more difficult, and due to the different skill gain speeds allowing both groups to access the same event server would be contraindicated. -remove decay on everything except food when it is stored on deed. -oh, and bacon.

I chose to stand against the practices of the goldshats in other MMOs a long time before I ever heard of Wurm. They are to me as much like real life adversaries as are real life criminals. I consider such activities to be unlawful/illegal. I still chose to live life in a Law abiding way, I respect the laws and try to obey them. I have seen some of the comments made on these forums and in chat in Wurm and I am not surprised that some or many of you do not respect Laws and such. I tried through the years to look past that but no longer. I care about whether or not the goldshats (that use PA as a service website) sell game currencies from MMOs that forbid the practice in their agreements because I chose to agree to those agreements and I side with the Devs of those MMOs, not with the goldshats. I don't trust PA because "a merchant for a group of bandits IS a bandit in my eyes". I don't trust PA anymore than I would the goldshats. Their business is designed to directly profit from the activities of the goldshats when they break the EULAS and TOSs of MMOs when they sell game currency and so I hold PlayAuctions (PA) as much guilty of the breaking of those agreements as I do the goldshats (gold farmers/sellers/buyers) themselves. If I see activities like gold farming/selling/buying for MMOs that forbid those activities I report their activities to the Devs of the MMOs involved, and since I played a fair number of the MMOs that have auctions on PA I already know those MMOs don't allow such things to be sold through such sites as PA. How? I agreed to the EULA and TOS of those MMOs and even though I might no longer play those MMOs my agreements I make matter to me. Rolf has always said for Wurm that we can buy and sell coins, items, deeds, characters, so here in Wurm such activities are NOT unlawful, they are allowed, so I am good with how things in Wurm are. As far as Wurm goes it is allowed here and I am OK with the buying and selling of virtual items even though I don't do it. WHY? Because in the agreements I agreed to when I chose to play Wurm it's says those activities are allowed here. To me this issue is about right and wrong, law and order, it's about living up to agreements we make when we choose to play these games. I could look the other way and ignore the present mess... but then.... But now Rolf makes friends with PlayerAuctions, a website that profits from Players openly breaking the agreements they choose to make with the Devs of certain MMOs (that don't allow the selling of thier MMO's currencies or items out of game), and Rolf wants us to just get used to it? Rolf wants us to forget the agreements we as Players have made with the Devs of these other MMOs? Rolf wants to buy us off with special offers for using PA? NO. Rolf in my eyes decided to become "a bandit". He has chosen to side with my adversaries. Rolf has joined those I will always be opposed to in Online Gaming. (I am not sure which I find more upsetting... the goldshats and PA or Rolf asking us to forget our agreements we have made as Players to other MMOs?) and InB4 those who say "Why would you care?"... I find it upsetting that you DON'T care. No wonder our world is a gutter.

Now that I've poked you with a stick, Rolf, I'll turn right around and offer a solution. As the owner of a company that operates an open-trade game, if YOU, and perhaps other game owners with similar policies, were to create a new website, completely unrelated to historicly illicit sites, where players could safely trade currency and goods ONLY for games without restrictions, I would strongly consider using the site. Find a couple other games with policies like yours and put together an auction/sale website. Require that the developers of the games clearly indicate that use of the site is acceptable before anything from those games can be sold on the site. Show the world how you think it should be done, without kicking the rest of the MMO industry in the face.

I am not going to say anything, but let your double standards speak for itself. The following quotes are from your User Agreement (the last one gets an a instead of an i in front when copy/pasting. And the a I see when editing this, shows as a 1 when posting. That is not an edit by me. I agree very much. It's perhaps not a fluke that the games I have enjoyed the most over the years, have often been the least "democratic." Usually ONE TOP DOG who decides on an original vision (usually unlike anything anyone else is doing) and is the final decision maker for everything. Many many many players and team who provide him with ideas, feedback, suggestions, complaints. Usually asking him to make the game more like every other game out there. The games I tended to leave with unhappy feelings, were generally those "run by experienced committees," usually by a group of under-devs who outlasted the original team, took over the reins, and now have their own brilliant so much better ideas on how things should work. Which usually means tinkering and changing core elements of the game because, hey they are professionals and they know better than the players who have been there for years! Players shouldn't resist change so much! Especially when they have this brilliantly smart professional committee making the decisions now! It's no longer the original game anymore but surely that can only be because it is better. Modern Teamwork approach sounds all well and good but 9 times out of 10, I leave the game in utter disgust because it's original vision has caved in to watered down game mechanics so that they do not scare off "new players" who presumably do not like the core vision but WOULD all jump on board if this game was exactly like every other game they have ever played for 1-2 months then left. The most famous example is SWG but there are many other examples of games over time moving away from their beginning vision. It's why I left Asherons Call, why I left Vanguard, and maybe why you have left a game or two in your past also. A good "I'm Top Dog!" will listen to players, consider it, but still keep his vision as the core central. If 80-90 percent of his players feel VERY strongly on an issue, and express that sentiment very strongly, (hint hint ) well he had better listen!!! He had better be willing to change policies if the players succeed in persuading him he is doing something stupid. Dreamers sometimes do exactly that! And if players are offering a confused babble of suggestions, feedback, ideas, complaints, he should shift through those and consider them as well. But in the end he needs to listen to the voice inside, the one that gave him the idea to MAKE this great and original game, that no one else was making. It's why I fight with Rolf all the time but frankly, I do not want him to sell out to someone else, ever. Not to Notch, not to some professional gaming company, not to private shareholders. He may be crazy and he may drive me nuts but NO ONE else has ever made this game that I love. Most of us are here today, because no one else is making the game that Rolf has made. Rolf makes mistakes -- but lucky for him, here we are to tell him so whenever he does!! And he is certainly free not to listen, right up to the day we all grab our wallets and go marching out because he refused to listen to us I wouldn't have it any other way, myself. No thank you to committee teams -- I have been there and do not want to go there again.

I think the developers should always take suggestions and ideas from players, but fundamentally developers should be the one designing the game, not the players. The priorities devs have compared with players are normally incredibly different. Developers focus on making the game as good (technically and entertainment wise) as it can be within the constraints of the overall long term vision for the game (which players do not necessarily know) while players tend to want to enrich their own personal enjoyment of the game, even if that's at odds with what is good for the game as a whole in terms of balance, but also commercially and technically. There are no "right" answers in the overall vision for a game (unless that vision is commercial suicide which leads to the death of the game), so the vision that matters most is the one the developers have, not the players, by virtue of it being just as good as any other. I think allowing outside sources to influence a design vision probably weaken and muddle it. Take what happened to Epic as a kind of example.

I have used player auctions in the past for both buying and selling. I have also done a few trades on the wurm forums for accounts. Some purchases / sales over a few hundred euro. I must admit I prefer the wurm site for trading vs the player auctions site. The trades I've done on the wurm forums, I've never had an issue with, always get paid or pay with no dramas. The community in wurm makes the sales easy to do and pretty risk free. A bit of research on who ur purchasing from or selling too is really all thats need. Use paypal and there is some level of insurance too. Playerauctions however I have had an issue or 2 with, lengthy refund process, a decent size cut from every transaction. Have to give alot of information to an unknown party. A live help chat that at times, is not much help and phone support that can be a little too direct at times. I speak of this from personal experience. I voted No, and Don't like the cut they take and overall I don't mind it. There will be people that probably have good experiences on the site however I will not be using the site for wurm purchases. Prefer the wurm forums for this. Cheers

+1 Problem with Chaos is and 5 freedomers have told me the same thing that they are killed right at spawn by freedomers. It's sad that you can't even leave spawn, how are noobs supposed to even get a shot at this game? The names they have told me I have confirmed are MR alts. Great job MR kill all the noobs at spawn and keep griefing everyone well see how many more people leave chaos. Go ahead and flame me and say what you have to idc, you know who you are.

Since Rolf only wants feedback from those who actually are willing to risk trying Player Auctions in his thread (fair point), I will just post my opinion here: I find it admirable that Rolf supports RMT, I understand that he finds other games TOS "restrictive", but here is my issue. In any game where you don't agree with the ToS, you always have the option to just not play. I find it morally bankrupt to encourage us to join sites that disregards other games ToS. Rolf, you are actively encouraging us to disregard a games ToS if we find it too restrictive. Yet you find it fair to ban people who find YOUR ToS too restrictive. Those games have their ToS for their reasons, just like you have yours for your reasons. This moral bankruptcy and double standards is enough to make me seriously distrust that you will respect my privacy, so buying from the Wurm store is not something I am interested in any more.

So the rejection of this wasn't comprehensive enough the first time, now you are trying to get us to use this dubious site anyway with promises of discounts and gnomes? The information they require from people to use their site is somewhat more invasive than cavity searches at airports. No.

Contrary to Fungus Trap, the Fire Pillar of Magranon can go through cave walls. This is an unfair advantage for Mol Rehan as they can burn you to death when you are inside a safe mine or even worse prevent you from strongwalling it when defending by interrupting the cast using the Fire Pillar spell. It sounds fair to me that cave walls should stop Fire Pillar spreading as they do with the other AOE spells.

good day, why would developers not to think about the introduction to the game the sheath, shoulders, capes? because at first the sheath and shoulders can be entered simply as a decoration and to make the sheath and do you just copy the quiver, and replace the model and make 3 possible models (for two-handed sword, long sword and short sword) to create and make possible the building of a sheath in the same slots as the quiver (quiver backpack slot and slot). thanks in advance for all the answers

Hello Everyone! I decided to give it a try as well But I have question to Devs. Are you looking for textured screenshots or you need some inspirational art works with medieval motifs and patterns? Whatever it is I think I can be useful to you. I am freelance 2D artist and professional photographer. I work for stock agencies around world and my main customers are game developers, website designers, advertisement companies etc If you looking for different art work and interesting texture techniques here are some of my art ( which I sell as limited edition prints ) that maybe suitable for Wurm. There is no copyright issue because all art is my and all images are high resolution, just PM me and I will send them to you. Please notice, all frames created by me too and you probably could use them in game as addition to tapestry frames that you have now. I can send those separately as well. These are examples of my work based on my photography and I can turn any screenshot into such art , if it is what you looking for, please let me know and I will upload some nice screenshots with textures, ( textures I used in these images are: burlap, embroidery, tapestry and fresco, only 1 image used filter, the rest created by my own technique ). I w'd love to see some of my art alive in this game which could be great addition to my portfolio And here are 3 new art works that I created specially for this tapestry contest. But It is not just tapestries, I got different idea what if we could have whole sets with matching tapestries, carpets and new Banners designs? Anyways, these are just examples, I can change anything in these images from texture and color to different frames and elements. All files available separately in any format (psp, psd, jpeg, png) All elements in images that you just seen belong to my old collection of textures and psp tubes "Medieval dreams" that I created for sale at old 3DCommune which sadly not exists anymore. But I still have a lot of interesting, high quality textures of wood, metal, stone and isolated images of medieval decor elements . I can convert psp tubes of deco elements into png or psd files and textures are in high resolution format. To give you idea what else I got, here are few promotional renders that I made for this collection long time ago. As you see, I used some of elements such as door knocker, handle , stone and wood textures and created door just to show how these can be used. It seems it can be useful for Wurm 3D artists. Only few examples, I have more stuff to offer Just let me know what you looking for, I might have it!

Yeah I am still trying to figure this out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Better_Business_Bureau#Los_Angeles Does that mean the Better Business Bureau kicked out the LA Better Business Bureau so the expelled LA BBB is now the BCA? Very confusing I guess. edit: According to the LA Times article linked below, BCA was kicked out of the offical BBB family because as long as you paid their fee, you automatically got an A grade. They even gave a fake business named after a terrorist group an A rating because it had paid its membership fee: http://articles.latimes.com/2013/mar/12/business/la-fi-0313-bbb-expelled-20130313 Anyway, it is too confusing to me. I can understand Rolf not wanting to be in the business of "secure internet sales". If I was a game developer, I would not want to deal with credit card fraud either. I am not very happy about this PlayerAuctions stuff starting as "optional" while they explore a "deeper business relationship" that becomes non-optional for us.

I think we need more than one or two every year. Once a month or every few weeks would be good. I do have a problem with them cherry picking questions to avoid answering "secrets" with game mechanics. Sure, moderation, business, fiscal, etc. stuff is secret, but game mechanics should be public knowledge instead of wiki-myths and a few privileged vets knowing it all.

The only thing your doing here is making the case for no one following anyone ones ToS. Never did I say anything about whats legal or not, it is indeed up to each game company to have to police its own ToS. One could make the case that people like you and your site actually cause the cost of many online games to increase, because those very games have to now employ more employees to work as GM's and supervisors in order to keep up with those that are breaking the ToS of their games. So you directly are at fault for causing us to have to pay more in monthly fees because we all know that the expense of such things will be passed on to the consumer. This is something that I'm sure your very own site has some people on payroll just to keep up with people that "break the rules" If you had to hire more people cuz there were other sites that were making it easier for people to break your ToS, the cost of those people hired would be passed down. You can try to paint yourself the good guy all you want, you can try to hide behind what you think is "fair" or "unfair" as you say, When I talk about your integrity and trustworthiness I am talking about the fact that YOU agree to the ToS as stated when you play a game but with full intention of breaking those very ToS with no regard to anyone else but to what you think is fair. That sir is called a Lie, you agree to something then go back on it. Thus you are a Liar, and I do not trust liars and try my best to not do business with known liars. A lie is a lie regardless of what courts or people say you can do or who ever says that you do not have to abide by any ToS. When you play that game you agree to those ToS.

All content that goes to the PvP servers, also goes to the PvE servers except optimized for a PvE type environment ie. all the new war equipment, maybe just for looks for a "badass" castle deed look. Complete re-write of the combat system. Put rolf in a bar somewhere far from a computer, give him a debit card attached to the bank account where his check will be deposited and tell him to have fun. ..... Going to end here because Im tired and really this list could go on and on but these are some the fundamental things I would do.

I've seen many games die or lose 95% of their members in the time wurm has been around. I think rolf is doing something right for surviving this long, so I dont think anyone knows better. A million people thought they had great ideas and they failed, wurm is still going. I hate fun.

I've stopped premium on all my accounts until they address key issues with the game. Might not even bother coming back to be honest. It seems as if the only language companies understand these days is that money talks. What happened to the holistic approach where customers were considered important?

    >https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qJJf7irNGE about pvp, but the concepts discussed (design, where the game should go) apply to every area of the game. starts around 8:40ish, is the part that really applies, where he goes about how people suggest things that usually end up benefiting a very small group of people which is why the developers should design it to their wishes, but balanced for proper gameplay.

I really dislike this site. I can't believe Rolf is promoting a site which is facilitating a platform which provides services which are against the playing rules of games and then expects our player base to follow theirs. I really hope Rolf stops trying to kick this dead horse and leave it well behind just like he should have done with those ridiculous scamming survey things.
