This! This is what we want! More interaction with Artisans Bench! Been painting since 5 years old. [iMAGE] I've never stated that I was the official painter of this object. Only making other to assume it was. I apologize for my trolling.

So the rejection of this wasn't comprehensive enough the first time, now you are trying to get us to use this dubious site anyway with promises of discounts and gnomes? The information they require from people to use their site is somewhat more invasive than cavity searches at airports. No.

At this point, methinks you are looking for blind approval, not feed-back. I tried to register, I was confused why would I have to share so much personal information, I gave up. The posts you have hid, that was feed-back, ; "we love, worship and do whatever you tell us to do" isn't feed-back, Rolf ... sorry.

Started the registration proces, mail verification went fine. Then I saw the list of data required to get to a status where I'd actually be able to buy or sell. More personal info than I'm willing to give away to test any service online. End of the line for me, sorry.

Hello Fellow Wurmians! Another weekly update closer to the exciting release. We have now set a release date we are aiming for. 10th of December! It is getting so very close and everyone is hard at work. So let us dive right into it and Share some News! Bridges Click Image for Larger Version Most things are starting to fall into place for the bridges and we now have a test team working closely with devs putting everything thoroughly to the test. Bugs are being addressed as we find them but functionality right now is looking very promising. Both in terms of building bridges between points in the landscape, buildings and from buildings to land. This was announced earlier but I can now confirm that stone and wooden bridges will still be able to be built several tiles wide. Currently they are set at a maximum of Rope 1, Wood 2, Rock 3 tiles width. Restrictions are being put in place so that they can not be used in griefing purposes or unforeseen pvp exploits. Click Images for Larger Versions Challenge Today I want to share some of the things currently worked on for the Challenge launch. I do not have work in progress shots of quite everything yet but I think you will enjoy it non the less. Bear in mind that this is all work in progress and implementation and details may change. Magic Turret Click Image for Larger Version The Magic Turret is as its name implies a magical defensive structure. It will defend your land and structures against other kingdoms. There will be several versions of this tower with different elemental attacks such as acid, fire etc which will have different benefits against different armors. The turret is not going to be able to take much damage but it adds a new level of strategy to your defenses. Archery Tower The archery tower also has similar functionality like the magic turret but instead shoots ordinary arrows. It will aesthetically have similarities with the ordinary guard tower but will instead be made of wood and is therefore much easier to destroy. There is also going to be a limitation on how close they can be built in proximity to each other. Spike Barrier Click Image for Larger Version The spike barrier is a new type of fence which will not have collisions so you can pass through it. It will however give damage to those who come to close. Siege Shield Click Image for Larger Version This is in its functionality very similar to a moveable wall. It clips to tile borders but is rotatable and pushable to aim an advance on enemy lines. It defends those behind it whilst still giving you the ability to fire arrows at enemies. This makes makes an offensive force more versatile when attacking a heavily defended position both in terms of enemy players. Trebuchet A structure with functionality much like the catapults but with much greater damage. It is a stationary structure so it will have to be built at a strategic position. The trebuchet needs to be controlled by a player to fire. Ballista A fearsome weapon with high armor penetration which can be used both for offense and defence. Its placement will be stationary but it is movable by carts to set up a new line of fire. The ballista will need to be controlled by a player to fire. Beauty of Battle ErikN has been progressing steadily this last week with solving the issue of proximity to targets and played animations. He knows how it needs to be tweaked and it is now a matter of going through all the creatures to implement it. Statuettes As promised, the other statuettes are getting a makeover as well. Well needed and pleasing to the eye! That will be all for this week Wurmians. I hope you are getting as excited as I am! And you know what to do until next time right? Keep on Wurming!

Since Rolf only wants feedback from those who actually are willing to risk trying Player Auctions in his thread (fair point), I will just post my opinion here: I find it admirable that Rolf supports RMT, I understand that he finds other games TOS "restrictive", but here is my issue. In any game where you don't agree with the ToS, you always have the option to just not play. I find it morally bankrupt to encourage us to join sites that disregards other games ToS. Rolf, you are actively encouraging us to disregard a games ToS if we find it too restrictive. Yet you find it fair to ban people who find YOUR ToS too restrictive. Those games have their ToS for their reasons, just like you have yours for your reasons. This moral bankruptcy and double standards is enough to make me seriously distrust that you will respect my privacy, so buying from the Wurm store is not something I am interested in any more.

I'll gladly buy a limited edition gnome from you, but not from them.

So the fact the macro incident from player auctions that the players themselves had to point out to Rolf and the "disappointment" he felt in the players for the negative feedback they gave.... Guess we haven't learned anything

I'm more of this mentality. I'd rather mechanics be put in place to prevent griefers from doing their thing than to form a "council" of people (some of which I may consider idiots anyway) to make decisions for the rest of us. Reputation does matter to one's gameplay, especially in such a small community as this. It's just a shame that we're forced to keep in whisper about events that take place with shady individuals, giving them the freedom to do their thing over and over, due to the naivety/gullibility of the "uninformed" public. All of that could be easily fixed if someone set a 3rd party site up where these things could be reported and out of the hands of our moderation team.. the one that enables the griefers by buttoning lips, hiding posts, locking threads and sweeping instances under the rug.

(I hope it doesn't just mean Friedrich Nietzsche is a mean drunk Anyway the woman would have gotten the whip away from him. Nietzsche is a mean drunk wuss.) I need my rawhide leather whip, please PS: I also want this side braid hairstyle. If I get both for Christmas, I promise to be good all of 2015. PSS: also the hooded leather cloak. Thanks Guys!!!!!!! It would make a great weapon for people who specialize in leatherwork and offer an option besides the usual iron & steel. Maybe a low chance proc to make the target fall down -- Add whatever restrictions you need to hobble it for balance (one handed - no shield - no dual wield, whatever). I promise, the hairstyle alone will get 5234 more women to join Wurm (and 7837 more men) PSSS: You can skip the cloak for now if it means the braid + whip get done sooner that way. Thanks!

the recent events show that semi private kills are the best ones to avoid most of the drama. Sadly no one will be happy either with a public kill or a private one. Drama will always be there even with our best intents. We are trying to do our best to give a good time to the players attending and warning the players online (and trusted) to attend the kill. We are far from doing it out of greed (heck, else we would keep some of the loot for ourself instead of rolling everything between the players). Now please avoid derailing the thread any further.

Made this a while back. I've probably got all sorts of other things lying around that would also look cool on a tapestry but I think this would be the most well fitted to the game.

Many of you remember a poll that was posted a while ago, and the majority of wurmians said they did not like Player Auctions.. Wellp, rolf apparently was blind for a bit and didnt get to see the poll, nor the opinions in it.. so let's make one he'll see Personal opinion: I don't want to do business where it's a site full of hacking/macroing/untrustworthy business and ontop of all that they take a cut.

I agree with you trying to get rid of all the different colors of wood, for performance reasons, but none of the wood colors for the new furniture match with each other. personally, I think it's quite important to be able to furnish a room without it looking like it was done out of odds and ends that I found at a flea market.

OK so with all the drama I was a little curious and fancied a gnome for myself. The registration process asks for: Normal account/password/email combination - I used non-wurm related details and my real email address Full name and address - I faked the whole lot. In fact as it didn't recognise UK postcodes as valid I had to fake a zip code instead. Phone number - I gave my real mobile number. So all they have are my email and phone. I don't get much spam on either so I'll be watching if there's any increase. Payment options are very US-centric, but paypal is an option so I used my normal paypal account I already use here. No issues. I would prefer to keep my transactions within wurm, buying silver from the shop to send through the mailing system, but if I *had* to pay real money for something this isn't so bad. However if Rolf is considering ditching the wurm shop and sending all purchases through this site I would object. On the matter of gnomes: If they are truly a one off limited item they should be numbered. Nothing says limited edition like having 'Gnome 42'

I've gone to the site, I do not like their business model / practices thus I will not be using them for any reason, buying or selling. This is my honest feedback about the site just as you have asked. I do not agree with them breaking the ToS of other games, I do not trust them to keep Wurms ToS, if they cannot do that they they cannot be trusted with any form of payment info or anything. Lack of trust is lack of trust regardless of anything else. If they cannot keep their word about one thing, how do I know they will keep their word and follow thru with what they say they will do. It seems that the only thing they want to follow thru on is making as much money as they can and they do not care about running a honest upfront business. That is my opinion of the site.

If this brilliant idea ever makes it in the game, I would like to announce my candidacy for a place in that "good old boys network of deed owners and players in favor of mob-justice and speedy and blind retiliation" council. My political platform can be summarized with two words: TOTAL INEFFICIENCY I will do my best as an elected official to opposse, prevent or veto any attempt by non-gms to ban any players in Freedom, even if (and in fact especialy if) the suspects aren't liked by other members of the tribunal (or their supporters). I will do it despite any form of retialiations or harrasment any other members of the council or their supporters will probably commit in the name of "justice" against me or my friends. If there is any special form of reward or titles for participating in that parody of justice, i will do my best to champion [DUNCE] as the unhideable title for the court members and requests that a Dunce hat be their only other in game rewards. VOTE FOR TOTAL INEFFICIENCY, VOTE FOR FREEDOM, VOTE SERPENTARIUS.

The texture is a result of the way the bin decay works, not the other way around. Also, removing the hover message about wood types would do nothing for performance. I personally think they should've waited with removing the visible wood types until they'd actually solved the shader issue (which is what the test server is supposed to be used for). I agree completely that the performance improvement that'll come from using the shaders instead of separate textures is worth the effort, but we've managed this far with subpar performance so we would manage until the problem is actually solved. The lighting was changed over a year ago because a better way of solving that was being explored, and that is still not solved. It's gotten way worse because of the preparation for the lighting change and we've been stuck with that ever since, so I foresee us not being able to see wood types for a VERY long time.

Call me crazy, but I don't think saving a few MB by eliminating players' choices is going to make a difference. Now if they took a break from adding spinning wheels and whales and instead decided to fix the memory leaks we've been stuck with for years, that might be a different story.

I've seen it said that the war machines will be part of the other PvP servers. Not sure about the special towers.

The FSB thread got locked, but I really wanted to express my appreciation to Wox. He listened and within 1 day, made the changes to size and the uneven top. Rest of the changes regarding wood types are out of his realm to address (I believe that call is being made elsewhere), so I don't want this thread to be a rehash of something out of his control. Thank you Wox!!! Amazing work!

The issue with this is that having multiple textures for every wooden object in the game has a huge effect on performance. This ends up meaning we might make decisions between adding additional textures for an item, or adding a new item at all. The various wooden changes via shader that has been planned for a while lets us get around this performance hit cleanly, which also means we can have more items in game giving less of a performance hit, less work for the art team where they don't have to create 10 different textures for every wooden item in the game, and opens the door for more customization where _every_ item in the game that is classed as a wooden item will get the updated looks all at once, (not to mention opens the door for other item types - various metals for example - getting the same treatment of updated looks with minimal performance hits). It really is a good thing for everybody, it just means there may be a short transitional period where you lose the current customization options from certain wooden items that have it - in turn it lets you get the customization on ALL wooden items when the new shader system is implemented.

I think the first questions which comes to mind is this: Why are you splitting the PvP community even more considering it is already stretched far enough between two clusters? Why dont you improve the Epic so that it represents something more like this rather then making a completely new cluster?

yuh know..i'm often surprised in a pleasant way of how closely the development team and art team follow and respond to our suggestions and concerns. We don't always get what we want, yet i can't think of another game i've ever played where the connection and response is so close. This is in part why i love wurm and it feels more like a family of players and staff than just any ole game you can download or buy off a shelf. I feel like we are part of the game and process vs merely end users of it.

I once heard from a renowned farmer that some animals (if not all creatures) tend to move away from settlements, so you may notice that they gather at the furthest point away from your token. If this is indeed true then I'm not sure how it would be fixed server-side so that animals don't do this - aside from removing the feature altogether. Of course this could be complete hogwash, but I believe it could be true!

Unfortunately, both PvP clusters are extremely one sided in terms of who wins. Often that side that side also abuses overpowered, broken, or unbalanced features or unforeseen effects of those features. Basically, Epic changes often regarding control. After the Mongol Empire disbanded, control switched to Jenn-Kellon as they gained numbers (mainly ex-Mongols), then somewhat to the The Horde as they champed people and gained numbers, then back to Jenn-Kellon when the champs lost their power, then back almost completely to The Horde due to a gain in numbers and realization of broken/unbalanced/overpowered spells. A lot of people on all sides left Epic recently - Jenn-Kellon because of losses and unbalanced features, The Horde due to boredom, and others because PvP is broken and only keeps going down hill. On Elevation, BL is dead, JK is kinda alive but won't fight when MR is involved because half of them have Gone (see my name). JKH doesn't defend itself very well, BLH is worse now that a lot of their fighters left. MRH has great home server defense and probably the only group with balls and the PvP knowledge to back them up. Everyone feared them more than MRE until EC all got 70 meditating and could safely leave deed again. This is all likely to change in a few weeks to a few months as Epic and its player base change, or if by some miracle PvP gets fixed. Chaos is more like this: BLE all went JK on Chaos to fight MR. MR relies on crappy features to get cheap kills, sets up 11x11 deeds to block tower capping (really cheap), and uses karma and /vinivite /vteleport to port around the server to these deeds, usually so they can close a 1,000+ tile gap instantly (5 MR vs. 10 JK to 20 MR vs. 10 JK in a couple seconds - like I said, fix PvP). Then there are two BL PMKs - Ebonaura (gets raided by JK, didn't lock its doors for months lel) and Black Legion (gets raided by MR). Both are kinda small. Basically, MR wins because of numbers and cheap tactics, everyone else loses because ally feature was removed, so their collective numbers don't matter. Oh yeah, forgot that half the Chaos server population at any given time is just alts (and mains /sarcasm).

(Warning, this is a suggestion generated at midnight after drinking a lot) I do love wurm, especially as a PvE player. This idea is for PvE servers only, so please do not comment on PvP imbalance or I will have to be sarcastic (and no-one wants that!). The idea is that wurm seasons already effect gameplay in a minor, positive, way (harvests). This is a notion to add a flipside to the coin, a balance to make the PvE gameplay more challenging. Essentially in winter, players can be frostbitten. The armour a player wears effects their exposure rate. Metal armour being the worst, no armour being the second worst, cloth armour/leather armour middle of the line, wool armour 2nd best and then a nice new fur armour being the best at keeping a player warm (on par with leather in all respects). QL matters. Players near a fire regain heat quickly, 1 min being enough to fully restore body heat if next to a well fed fire. Hot food/drink will instantly restore heat. What does frostbite do? It turns the stamina bar blue slowly. Blue parts of the bar regen at 1/2 the normal speed. When the entire bar turns blue, players start taking light "frost" wounds to their extremites (hands and feet) that will heal when a player is warmed up (akin to drown damage). Frostbite can kill, though this is a slow process (taking 1 real time hour). To give a metric : 15 mins for the frostbite bar to fill with the worst (1QL) metal armour and 4 hours to fill with the best (QL100) fur armour. To balance this for new players, all new players gain a special "heatstone" that makes them immune to cold effects for their first winter (24 hours ingame duration before it expires, not transferrable/droppable 0 weight). New Skill Extra : As players survive winters they gain a skill that increases their cold resistance, meaning longer term players can survive for longer (subskill of nature) Priestly Extra : Because priests cannot craft or imp, they gain a spell at 50 faith that protects them from cold for (power*5 mins) from cold effects (costing 30 favour and 50 difficulty). Summer Extra : Some kind of overheating/sunstroke mech for the midsummer month that works as a mirror for the frostbite one.

Thank you for the report, Wurmhole. The bug is definitely listed and is still an issue, I duplicated the issue on the test server as well. Unfortunately, for now the only solution is to report it in game and have it forwarded to an Arch GM for a fix. I'll add this post to the bug as well.

This idea reminds me of Rust. Short craft timers, skills doesn't matter much, there are resource nodes that people controls, and when the map is full of buildings/people have acquired the best gear there are wipes(that are usually monthly, depending of the player base of said server). So seriously devs, what the heck are you doing. I already have Rust on my Steam account, I don't need nor want another Rust.
