With the most recent update to uniques we have seen that sorcery items now drop from uniques but no one knows what they do and those that do have been keeping it secret (minus the few that have shared with me so far). These sorcery items add a spell to your character, a pre-fix title ex. Mage Ruger the Desertmind [Clairvoyant] (It can be turned off) and adds a buff/debuff. These effects are permanent to your character as of right now according to rolfs initial post about sorcery being put in a year or so ago. Since the release of these items I have been stacking the items which means using more then one. Doing this only changes your title through combinations as you will see below; it does not give additional spells or buffs/debuffs. At Mage you do unlock a Gold Achievement, "Mage". The resistances: Ive seen so far the resistance is 10-15% and the weakness is 10% but will continue to update this opening post and spreadsheet as more information comes in. Here is the spreadsheet I have running right now. Please post below if you have any information you would like to add to the spreadsheet. I am looking to also add the information on each item to the wiki. Each item has 3 requirements that must be fulfilled to be used; the main requirements are 3x3 flat and vicinity of a holy altar, then some are by a tree or in the desert where nothing grows in a verge large space-and I mean large space. So if you have an item please post your examine, your requirements and maybe even the message you got when you used it. Will update the spreadsheet and keep this growing. Spell costs: So far all spells cost 500 karma to cast. *If anyone has one these special items and would like to contact me about trading one of my items I have for theres, charge for charge so we can further test the stacking please message me. All items have three charges. So that means three people can receive its bonus. **There seems to be some variances between EPIC and FREEDOM. This thread is only for FREEDOM information. Those epic guys can keep there secrets. ***In regards to Title Combos. If you get Druid and then use a Green Tome, you are now a Wizard; you cannot show Driud again and same is true continuing forward. It seems to be a tiered system with no specific order but I do believe there is a final title that is the same. ****If you have a -15% damage rcvd from fire and +10% dmg from fire then you have a -5% from fire. That is how it appears to be balancing.

I think you will find they have only been available on Epic, Ruger. And that is where they will remain from now on as they are being removed from unique drops on Freedom.

I find it utterly idiotic that these things were added to the Freedom cluster after we see what it's done to the Epic maps >.> Thanks for not using it near our lands MR I guess haha; let's hope that both sides can refrain from using these to grief each other

Well you could allow for contracts etc to be sold on merchants. I see no real reason for the game to push coin out to the players through Traders at all. A player driven economy should be just that. When I see other players having to pay upkeep into deeds and that upkeep being passed out to private traders that just doesnt seem right at all. Traders in the main towns can be like normal traders and they can develop other types of Traders for private owners.

Why not a log wall, so we can make houses like this: No nails, just logs and dirt. probably 20 logs and 1-5 dirts per wall. Maybe needs a new item: notched log, made from a log and a hatchet, a log with a deep interlocking dent in each extreme. maybe a new roof type too, made from beams and dirt or we can use the already existent ones.

Hello, I don't mind the uniques I really like them my only concern is this every time they spawn if they spawn in the same spot over and over people will just deed those spots and start to time when the server goes up and down and locks the mobs down so only 1 group or the other can get them which then makes it very unfair for the entire Community. I like wurm and I feel for right now I am taking a break as this uniques issue has frustrated me sorry for those that I ranted on in my local and Kosed just played this game a long time and it really made me upset. would also like to see them spawn in random places, everytime a surprise + new plans. I agree 100% on this.

And that was good. Seriously... have you seen how many flowers are in Xanadu?! Wow. Every single tile, unless it's a tree, is almost certainly a flower. You can find white flowers, orange flowers, blue flowers, irises, petunias, gardenias, orchids, fly catchers, Heliconia Pendulas, <insert some random latin name> flowers... even the hard to find yellow-green flowers. I won't be surprised if I run into a cactus sooner or later. In fact, I ran into more white dotted flowers (the holy grail of gardening) in the first 15 minutes on Xanadu than I have seen in my entire existence in Wurm. And I have been playing for 37 years! I know that soon all these flowers will be gone. But hey, this is what the other servers must have looked like before the first destructive hand of man inserted the first shovel into the ground. White dotted flowers for everyone! Save the flowers! PS: This message was brought to you by a follower of Fo.

White Cherry info Item: White Cherry Examine: This giant cherry was almost ripe when it was picked from the tree on Valrei, home of the gods. God food that may contain mystical powers! It has 3 charges left. Dropped from: Forest Giant Upon attempting to use item: You need to be deep in the barren desert, where nothing ever grows. You need to be standing in a 3x3 flat area in order to use this. You need to be in the vicinity of a holy altar. Haven't used any charges yet. Will update post with any relevant information if I do.

Bet you Eyesgood uses the Meditation Answers. It's also a bit sad that the server that had the items for a year and a half almost, I think... Hadn't even discovered all of the actual items. But the day the uniques are respawned and every damned unique drops one but on Epic ( For us at least ;-; ). There's probably already more Sorcerors on Freedom than there are here. But we don't get Legendary titles, oh no. We have Valrei items and.. and.. stuff!!

This is just so wrong. Players should not have to feel around in the dark to find and figure out game features and mechanics, especially those that affect player balance. No matter where you stand on the tell me nothing v/s tell me everything mentality, I still believe it is more enjoyable to hunt for the reward of having something rather than hunt for the knowledge of the existence of something. What good is having cool game features if only a precious few know precious little about them???

sorcery items should be way way way harder to get...

My approach in preparation for sailing to Xanadu has been to mine a lot of iron and create needed objects for building that use a lot of it, such as ribbons, fence bars etc. Then maybe 300 more lumps for misc iron objects. Now with this news, probably be best to bring 900+, even though I am not a blacksmith and my iron needs are focused on building. Anyway, yes I agree totally, iron should be a very commonly found ore throughout all of Xanadu. Only the other ores should have some sort of regionality placed upon them and I am not even very fond of that concept either. =Ayes=

We discussed it heavily and it was decided that if we were jerks then inevitably you guys (or other kingdoms) would be jerks back. So we tried to put it in a relatively un-intrusive place. Im sure I can speak from all of MR when I say we hope that others kingdoms will show the same restraint with these crazy powerful things.

Considering the arguments for keeping these away from Epic were something about being too easy (lol) and ruining the surprise for Freedom, seems ruining Epics surprises might be a fair trade to give them these titles now.

And in the next update, I'm sure we'll see all of the PvP-related Valrei abilities replaced with spells geared toward "teh economy." I'm really not seeing the point of Epic anymore. Do you want drake and scale that is actually useful, abundant, and sells for a ridiculous amount of real life money? Go to Freedom. Do you want to earn endgame sorcery abilities with almost no actual effort? Go to Freedom. Do you want the ability to PvP when it's convenient for you, while also having an untouchable plot of land to store your goodies with no risk? Go to Freedom. Do you want Legendary titles? Spyglasses? The skills and items that you spent years acquiring prior to the release of Epic? Servers that aren't abandoned 75% of the time? Large, interesting maps? PvP that isn't bogged down by CR nerfs or people jumping through portals the moment you step in enemy territory? Go to Freedom. Do you want a broken mission system and a 2x skill rate that only ends up making everyone a pro at everything, thereby homogenizing everyone and turning things into even more of a numbers game? Go to Epic. What features are unique to Epic that haven't already been co-opted by Freedom? It seems like the list gets shorter every month.

Seems the devs have killed off Epics 'niche' there is literally no point in the scenarios now other than to gain demi god status. It's funny how the hide butchers have been mega nerfed, but replaced the items with an epic mega rare item instead - but made it common. I do think you've successfully kept drake/scale rare which is what you intended but have added another "pvp requirement" item with how 'common' the valrei items are. Nicely done

considering the original physical damage buff was 50% and the original continuum was 80%, and it was players who reported it who had it themselves to get it changed, not enemies who fell victim to it, yes i think we have a great concept on balance and understanding whats too powerful

Sourcey items should be 1 in 100 chance drop from uniques if they are to be on freedom. That means there's an 8x 1% chances a month for one of the sourcery items to be dropped. These things if on freedom should be as hard to achieve as they are on epic, if not harder (as it is epics niche) land altering items should not be on freedom. Epic has been advertised with all that jazz. I'd like to see them all removed personally. With the correct team work you can take down 1 person after 10 seconds instantly without the need of melee

    1) Lots of other games have thousands of players per server and you can have nice convos on map/global chat. Thing is, like on kchat today, not everyone uses it. 2) Runescape is a bad example. It was never a very good game to begin with, and the new changes brought stuff that annoyed people more than it brought improvements (from what i read, i quit that after 2 days of trying it). Plus they did their "big update" announcing it like it would revolutionize runescape, and it did, but still didn't bring that game forward to the present. That's the problem with Wurm and Runescape as well. They're by all standards ancient games way past their venerable stage. And as all old games, if they don't modernize enough they lose. Even WoW is losing players because its becoming too outdated, even with all the patches, and expansions. Now Wurm has been pretty much the same for the greater part of 8 years, and its been doing fine because there was little to no competition. All games that were remotely as sand-boxy weren't as remotely as sand-boxy, and usually more expensive, and without the pve option. Nowadays after the huge success that Wurm's "young half-brother" (being that it shares a creator) had there's sandbox games popping out like crazy, Minecraft clones alone are in the dozens, but more and more you see games leaning more to Wurm's side. And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Now with fresh, modern competition, specially one with a more proactive development, Wurm will eventually dwindle and die. TBH its not the retarded grind that makes wurm unique or enjoyable, its the actual almost complete freedom you have to create and alter your own environment that makes it unique. Sure the grind is what makes it so that the ones that suffer trhough it still play it because its so unbearably hard to reach your goals. If it was faster, many of us would be "done" with wurm a while ago. But the thing is, that challange and retention, can and should be obtained in other ways, combat and pvp also need reworking (and you can't tell me that PvP is awesome, because frankly, even among people that like wurm, the PvP community is tiny), but the problem is that devs are content. Rolf seems to have stopped thriving to make this that ideal game he envisioned when he and Notch started wurm, and simply became attached to what he already had.

Sadly enough I would be happy to see they sorcery items removed from freedom all together. Leave us the blood drop and come up with other things please. My Reasoning is based on the bad taste that is developing. The sorcery items are so desired by chaos players they are over zealous, running from server to server killing uniques literally as fast as they can. Perhaps without the sorcery item drop , there would not be so much enthusiasm from our chaos cousins.

The difference is, no one is losing from this suggestion. Rolf ninja added in the Rod of Destruction when if you polled this server BEFORE MR got one then this would have been an easy vote in the no. We don't need epic items, and we certainly don't need THIS many epic items. With the way these overpowered unbalanced changes are being thrust into the game, it's widening the gap between kingdoms that can kill uniques with 40 man groups on a daily basis, and groups that barely reach 15-20 on a week-night. With all that disregarded however, the rod of destruction was a stupid idea to add to Chaos, especially in the way it was garnered.... by killing a random unique. I don't believe that someone that kills the forest giant should receive a rod that levels a 30x30 area and spawns tons of adamantine.... call me crazy though.

Many years ago I played on JKH server, and there was this ore level cap of 50 something. So I had to sail to the wild pvp server, since there was no quality limit there. It took a few hours, but eventually I saw land in seight. I headed straight for a big cliff next to water and setup a temporary mining shed 1x1 house there. I choosed the cliff since I could make another mine entrence at water level where i could drag my boat inside and lock it up with a mine door. Then i went mining and found a utmost ql iron vein within a hour or so, really lucky. I had prepared a unfinished forge in my boat, so i just had to plop the last pieces of bricks on. But I had totally forgot about fuel, so here i went a little nuts and build a dirt ramp up the mountain to easier access the trees. I thought it was the best alternative, since i felt safe around my house and locked mine, and sailing away to get fuel would be something scary. So few hours more and the dirt ramp was ready and as i was chopping trees, then all the sudden a gamemaster Pryath stands behind me asking what i was doing. Thank god he didnt kill me, but he had some though questions for me, like why i was there, was i a spy, was i making a ramp up to his deed castle in preperation for a enemy siege attack. Luckily he knew my friends on the non-pvp server and believed my story about me hauling home good ql iron for my village. So i finished up my business that day by mining a boatload of iron and went to sleep. The next morning i woke up, someone had smashed down the front door to my house and stolen everything. But the thief must forgot to look inside the cave, coz my boat was still in there, in a sidetunnel i had mined out. And inside my boat was still all my iron. So I sailed back home ASAP. But when I tell this story to the kids today, they just think im a crazy old fool, coz they are used to just walk inside their own village cave, and have 1 minute to several iron veins =)

I am pretty damn sure i am moving to xanadu with gusto, though i am not really sure why. I am giving up ALOT of iron veins to inhabit this dent in a cliff filled with moss and wild gravel.

being a desert lover i cringe anytime the desert gets trashed with weird pyramids, tunnels ditches and deeds. That said,, I cannot dictate to others how or where they play Wurm outside of my deed. While I understand the sentiment, I don't think we can or should try to control what other people do outside of our own deeds.

The thing I've always thought about Wurm though...is that if it ever got really popular, it would ruin the game. You would lose the sense of it being a world and bumping into the same people over and over again. Things like kchat wouldn't work if 1000 people were speaking at once. There would be so many areas griefed beyond repair. It's a niche game...and can only ever exist as a niche game. Not sure how you can say Wurm has a terrible community. I think it has the best community out of any game I've ever played. Every game has trolls and asshats. Not every game has as many honest and helpful people as Wurm though. I'm sad to hear you didn't enjoy your return to Wurm, however "fixing" something that has kept players interested for 10 years might not be a good idea. Not to say that improvements cannot be made...everything can be improved. (And Wurm definitely is improving!) A good example of "Adding more interactive gameplay" going wrong would be to look at Runescape. They added more involving combat, instead of their click and wait system. And do you know what happened? Overnight they dropped from 150,000 players to 50,000. Many months later it still hasn't recovered from that and it likely never will. If you lose the veterans and core group of players that log in every day, the more casual players will quit too, as the game world will feel empty and lifeless.

I'm really happy for you and I'ma let you finish but wat? This games community compared to any other game I've ever played is beyond amazing. Every relationship you form or interaction you have reflects on your reputation throughout the community, I've bought something as simple as 'dirt' from people whom have since become friends and my go-to people when it comes to recommending them for their services or when ever I need to buy something again. If you happen to be a bit of d-bag to people, you'll find out quickly enough how much your reputation matters in the game.

The thing is, there's a reason people play games like Civ on Marathon, where the game takes weeks to complete. Because some things are worth savouring, sometimes the gargantuan amount of time something requires makes it more satisfying to complete.
