The main reason points were added in the first place is because champs are supposed to get out and PvP - but many were just crafter casters. This change would revert the necessity to get out and PvP. If you want the perks of priesthood AND the ability to craft, you need to continually work for it and game design is that they're there to fight. I'm not saying the current system is perfect, but this change would not help.

CHAOS ONLY Been thinking about champing and how it works recently and i'd LOVE to see some changes to the system because champs are hardly used at all at the moment. Current system Currently how it works is that there is a point system where if you get a kill on someone over 50fs, a drain on a deed with 5 or more guards, if you cap a tower, or if you cap a battle camp you get 1 champ point. 1 champ point basically equates to 1 day of champ hood. You start with 10, you lose 15 on death and you can have a maximum of 30. You can only have 3 champs per kingdom, BL being the exception. When you lose champ hood you lose all the perks you gained (50+ to all religion skills, 5 stats across the board, and you are put back to 50faith). You also lose 1 stat across the board when you dechamp. Flaws to the current system The current system isnt used at the moment (imo) because of the point system. It basically requires you to log in every day and pvp. It makes it so you NEED to play, where as most players will pvp every so often. What was a good system has now turned into a chore which you have to do every day in order to keep champ hood. PvP is not something which happens every day, hence why people will not usually champ because you are almost certain to lose champ hood sooner or later. My proposal I propose that we get rid of the point system entirely. Make it so you can have 3 champ per kingdom (Yes BL included because lets face it 6 champs is op) and make it so if you die, you lose champ hood and cannot have it for another year. When you lose champ hood, you loose all the perks you gained, and you lose 1 stat across the board (like what happens now). Add in dueling rings for champs so that champs who are not wanted by the kingdom can be kicked off. And the leaders of PMK's should be able to kick theirs as an alternative. Perks of the proposed system We will get the casters back who used champs to get good casts. We'll have champs back which added diversity to the PvP servers. Champs will actually be used by all kingdoms! The problem with the system before was that there was no limit on the amount of champs you could have, where as with 3 champs per kingdom it'll be balanced.

I think the points system is useful to prevent casting champions, however I feel that the small 2 week window and the difficulty in obtaining points on chaos prevents players from champing. You start out with 15 champion points. - Change this to 30 Points 1 point is removed every day. You can have max 30 points. - Change this to 60 Points You gain 3 points for draining an enemy deed with 5+ guards. - Apply scale on number of guards to points, As a poor example[ 1 guard - 1 point, 5 guards - 5 points, 50 guards - 50 points] You gain 5 points for being involved in a kill on an enemy champion. - 10 Points instead of 5, bascailly stealing the points from the champion killed. You lose 10 points if you die for whatever reason. - Creates the 3 deaths and no champion scenario still. You gain 1 point when you are involved in a kill on an enemy with 50+ fight skill. You may gain a point like this 1 time per day from the same player, 10 times total from any one player - Increase this on a scale of fs as a bad example [50fs - 1 point, 60fs - 2 points, 70fs - 3 points, 80fs - 4 points, 90fs - 5 points] Think those changes might be beneficial. Though I wonder what peoples opinions on them are. Edit: Colours Edit#2: Voted Yes/No for reasons above. I feel it should change but not as the OT describes

The Truth About Dragon Fang Mountain Recently an expedition of three unnamed persons set out to climb to the top of Dragon Fang mountain. (The highest peak on the Independence server). Their goal, reach the top and plant a sign up there for all passersby to see. At first their trek was an easy one, deciding to ascend the NW facing. They followed the path blazed by many a Wurmian. Then it happened. Once their journey took them passed the first ring, they noticed something just wasn't right. A foul odour unknown to them began to permeate the air. Their climbing gear was becoming increasingly less effective. The consistency of the statuesque mountain seemed to be changing ever so slightly. One of the three in the party had had enough and turned around and headed for home. The other two however, trudged on. Soon, the couple found their footwear was hampering the climb... so off came the boots. Their bare feet seemed to mold directly into Dragon Fang with each step. This went on for metre after metre until one of the two remaining two climbers panicked and decided he couldn't take it anymore, and began his descent. As the last anonymous climber slowly continued despite the fog, he could barely make out the peak of DF not too far in the distance. With great determination our hero trudged to the top. What was this he saw? A sign out of no where appeared between waves of fog. A sign that read, "Eladia's discarded cheese pile".

Who We are Mol-Rehan citizens on the Elevation server. Our kingdom consists out of a couple of villages and a capital where most people live. Most players here are in the American timezones, but we also have a lot of European players and one slightly crazy Australian lady. For whom You want to be part of a very active kingdom with a great community, stretching over Elevation and Desertion. You want to be part of a kingdom to have a challenging experience in PvP. It is never too easy and never too hard. You're here to play Wurm because it's fun, not to earn money to pay your electricity bills. You want to jump on a horse and go after our enemy every time you hear that some cat is in danger. Requirements - You must have PvP'd at least a couple of times already or you must be an experienced Wurm player. - You must use a premium account; we do not accept f2p accounts. We do not have concrete activity requirements, but we may remove players from the village if they have been inactive without any reason for a month or more. We will assume you have left the game. It is never a problem if you let us know beforehand that you will be inactive for a long period of time. It is recommended that you have a microphone, so you can communicate in our voicecomms. How to join If you are interested in joining us, you can either post here in this thread or you can send me a PM on the forums (or IRC/Ingame if I'm online). Feel free to ask any questions if you have any. If you are already familiar with the villages on Elevation and prefer to join a specific village, you can ask the players there directly. Otherwise you can post here/pm me and I will ask them for you. If you are not familiar with any villages, we will probably invite you to come over to our capital, which is right next to the starter deed, maybe 30 seconds of walking. Most of us live there. Additional info We have a couple of villages on Elevation, but only one that accepts most players. Most new players will be invited to our capital, which is called "Castle Glittercrown", or sometimes referred to as "Eternal City of Magranon" (on the old Elevation server) or mostly just "EC". EC is in a good location where it is unlikely to be raided, but of course it's not impossible to be raided. Usually, the citizens will not have to worry about raids. Mol-Rehan has an interesting history on Elevation. It has had a number of chancellors, the current one being chancellor Gary. Mol-Rehan was never the largest kingdom, but was always important in PvP. We fight and have fun. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. When we lose, we make sure we know what went wrong and how we can improve the next time. Mol-Rehan's god is Magranon. That means when Magranon spawns valrei creatures, they will be friendly to Mol-Rehan. You can also become a Champion of Magranon (but not a Champion of Fo/Vynora/Libila). You can still be a priest of any religion besides Libila. If you are wondering if anything on pvp server will cost you in-game money, you will only need money to buy items from people outside our village or from traders. You will never pay anyone in our village for supplies. It is very possible to live your life on Elevation without spending any money.

I am looking for any people who would like to join me at Watertown, it is on the coast North-Western Corner. We have mine with iron, plenty of forest and pretty much access to materials we might need. It is in a friendly alliance that is always willing to help others. It would be great if you told me if you will be going away or quitting Wurm. Sadly Watertown isn't very active at the moment but if you join we can make it a bright place again. Thanks!

I've seen people say that they would like a "repeat last action" hotkey - myself included. I think a really cool option to try implementing this in a more immersive way would be to try designing one or two partial automation machines. They should all have relatively high requirements to build, so that everyone has to have at least cut their teeth on mass production by hand. Wood Plane Requisite skills: 40 carpentry, 20 stone cutting (to create the stone blade) Possibility: mechanics or engineering skill to build and operate machines? Required Materials: 80 wood planks, 20 stone bricks, 40 pegs (never understood why only used in shipbuilding, medieval world utilized wooden pegs for everything!) 10 wooden shafts, 10 large nails. Now, deep breath, no one freak out! The way they work: These machines are containers. The wood plane, for instance, will accept logs as input, up to a certain weight/volume. The purpose of implementation into our game is to save insane amounts of tedious clicking aimed at advanced players, but we also don't want to turn this into easymode to retain the essence of Wurm. So once your wood plane is loaded with logs you right click and hit "plane wood planks" at which point a long action timer (think "level" - maybe 5 minutes) at which point the logs in the plane are gradually converted to planks (again, much the way level produces dirt over time, draining stamina slower than a standard "dig") but ending prematurely when you run out of stamina. That's it! Not too painful right?! And there is a ton of room for more complexities if the idea is well received. Imagine a wood plane that breaks blades after a few hundred planks, cut faster or last longer based on the QL of the blade used each time, etc. I also think this idea would work well for brick machines and mortar mixers that take rock shards and clay + sand as inputs, respectively.

Simple really the token is the point you expand from in the direction north east south or west. Rather than current north and south, east and west. I think it just makes it so tedious and sometimes wasteful of land you don't need or want. However to prevent silly land grabs and grief deeds aka 5 tiles wide 200 north plus it gives it a little unity. You can only expand 2x its opposite aka 10 east you can go 20 west. Cost of land and upkeep can still be the same pay per tiles. I just think it make deeds more interesting with more freedom to adjust it giving use space better and no more wasted lines of tiles.

Maybe it would be cool if it only blocked physical damage and didn't do anything to magical damage. So if you hit someone for 10dmg and do an additional 10% magic damage (FA, RT, LT, etc) it would be 5dmg + the full magic damage whatever that maybe.

Who knows how Rolf is looking at this... One way of looking at it would be the weapon did 10dmg, SotG absorbed 50% of that so the person only takes 5dmg but the weapon doesn't care, it still hit for 10dmg before any other factors came into play. If I sell you something for $10 you can turn around and resell it for $5 or $20. It makes no difference to me, I still got my $10.

As a well Older playing character in my on and off time in Wurm I have learned a couple things. (1) As much as Rolf wants the game to be in his Vision it seems the organizational skills are lacking somewhat. (2) It is easy for a dream to become a nightmare if a structure is not in place to deal with kinks or hiccups. ( Wurm has kinks and hiccups, some kind of funny) (3) Before going to a much large playerbase the tutorial system has to be better, it still needs tweaks. (4) Maketing a game involves a rather indepth understanding of who you are wanting to play and what you are willing to put up with. (5) New players need to be firmly aware of how skills and success rates work. I have had to explain this at least 100 times. So I would say although wurm is getting better it still lacks a concise organized top down structure from all the gms ca's and even senior devs I have conversed with. In house policies from a somewhat paranoid developer and people doing great work and not being paid. Counter instructions from coming from 3 different directions and known power plays that spill out onto the forums are far more in need or urgent care then I think more customer. Just my 2 copper.

Given that things are being added that we never thought would be, I have hopes that some other long-time-suggested features will finally get the attention of the devs. Here are two I would love to see them finally act on: 1. Be able to pick up most items in the game. With the exception of completed boats (maybe) and structures (of course), players with sufficient body strength should be able to pick up any crafted item. 2. Any item that can be picked up and placed in inventory ought to be able to be mailed, period. The mailing restrictions are counter-intuitive and counter-productive. In fact, I doubt they serve any purpose any more. I know, both have been long requested - just bringing them up again...
  33. 1 point
Seems like more of a suggestion to me. Either way, +1 to inter kingdom alliances being made better. Even though JK and TDL have an alliance, doesnt mean i dont think its a good idea. I really dislike the people who vote negativly on a mechanic that should be in the game to suit themselves... I can think of many players who do this.

Infestation: Survivor Stories aka War Z, when was launched on Steam was buggy, with almost no content or player base, bad optimization and with a Steam store page full of promises(that just a few has come true and are meh, worst money spent evah). Wurm have sh*tloads of content and freatures, in my 12 days of ingame time I still have to find a bug(and if I did I thought it was a freature lulz), I have played and run the client for more than 8 hours without crash or any mayor problem, tho it's true that need more optimization(in big cities my PC suffers). How can you even compare War Z with Wurm if Wurm were on Steam? But it's true that Wurm and Wurm-related things has to be prepared for a Steam launch or even Greenlight. Oh!, and Steam can have games region locked (still waiting Vindictus on Steam Europe...), so if for whatever reason we see Wurm Online in Steam, that could be a way to control the influx of new player. Wurm does not need that kind of thinking. Infact no online game needs it. PS: I use Steam

Id rather have them wait another year or two, the more stable the game is and the more content it has the better. Especialy the planed new interface will make the game alot more interesting to mainstream gamers (which Steam mostly consists off).

Why is it like this? Because the game wouldn't be Wurm without the frustrating inconsistencies and mechanics. Some others are: * You can manipulate any tile type you want, providing you have high digging.... except marsh. You can't flatten it, level it, flatraise it, etc.... because, you know, marsh is such an important tile type that must be protected. * You can carry all the mats needed to make certain items, you can carry the unfinished item before it's completion, but you can't pick them up after you've made them (beds, lrg barrels and tubs, etc). * You can dig/drop dirt on a paved slope, but no more than a 20 slope.... because anything more than 20 is definitely "griefing". Paving underwater is also disabled, so forget about any plans to pave the side walls of your pier. * Build a house ANYWHERE you want.... but not on previously paved tiles. * You can build a 1 storey building on your perimeter's edge that meets another player's perimeter. You can even repair all the walls of the first floor. Second or any additional floor? No soup for you. Your neighbors perimeter "doesn't allow such actions". * You can shoot an arrow over a low stone wall, but forget about parapets. * You will consume water when improving metal and cloth objects... clay item improvements won't consume any of your water. * You can dig the surface layer down to rock. You may even be able to tunnel through that rock tile, provided the slope isn't too steep. After tunneling through, you will find that the slope is probably still too steep to cover with a mine door. There are plenty more, but i'm not trying to write a novel's worth in one post.

Someone suggested this in the past and even wrote out ideas for 4 or 5 different examine messages for the different fill levels. Would be nice to have, though as filling only uses as much fuel as it needs (and that's not very much) I don't see it as an urgent addition.

Nothing wrong with the idea, maybe a bit unneeded but thats probably personal preference. But as mentioned by others, with Wurms current Framework, as in, being extremly prone to bugs, its probably not a good idea to re-implement this. Which is sad though, cant say it often enough, the game needs quality control (dedicated bug fixing) badly, just removing things because its buggy isnt the way to go.

"Who said an undead have to choose Libila? Bonegetter stand to be different as this skeleton practices with his Fo spells in a marsh of Independence." A drawing commission I did for Bonegetter which I has been slacking for sometime due can't find idea that I feel good to work with.. glad to see at last I managed to finish it. Originally the request was a skeleton wearing apron that conduct business of making pottery items and selling bricks with a caravel, after sometime past Bone thinks he could have different occupation and so here he is as Fo Priest. No stock photos been used for this one, I have a new toy called daz3d to arrange human models and pose them as I want. Excitingly this means I can draw humans without having to look on others' copyright and limitations of it. WIP stuffs: Early thumbnail draft with the skeleton who do potteries. More draft... still not satisfied What I am thinking here is a druid in a swamp. Swamp is putrid but also full of life, which symbolize well with undead and fo. Making some lineart to help with detailing the foreground. Basic mood of the whole picture, I just set up 'hue and colorize' on the picture. Also start coloring the crocodiles. Painted colors over the green mood. The whole scene reminds me to 'princess mononoke', can't help that I think I put that stag on background because I subconsciously think of it. And then even more details I have been watching to apply the lighting on this since Wox says I need to study more of lighting. "The intruders were full of confidence when they thought there was only one person in local, but it didn't last long as fevfev skillfully used the terrain he knew so well to his advantage." A drawing commission I did for sharkin (FevFev), initially requested to draw him on his chaos deed-- which then we agree it is not a good idea. After some minutes of talk we decides to go with this one. I have fun with the new toy I use to create the poses although I were worrying too much of the art quality. In the end, after I finished, step back (mmm soda coffee!), and take a look at it again I feel like this one have it's own charm; it is not as detailed as 'Riders of the White Dragon' but I think the vibrant coloring is something that I usually don't dare to do. Also I have been watching foundation of light by Sycra to get the lighting on this . Overall it is a surprisingly challenging piece but I enjoy it neverthless. Click below for process breakdown: Testing my new toy Daz3d, I slap three models on the scene and put a pose on them. Here is the render I got. Placing them on photoshop and add a terrain. Doing lineart on the FevFev character and I feels something not right .. I decided to go drop random photos on the image and figure out the whole value and angle.. Also detailed the whole armor. Yep, something not right there.. the whole poses is just too neutral.. no one know who is winning in this picture.. no expression, too much initial combat pose, seems like they have been waiting for each others move.. so... I would have to tackle this problem but let's look on another possible problem.. Here I'm looking forward on the value composition.. light and dark stuffs.. getting where the people focus should be.. Then I decide I should fix that neutral pose and tip the balance. Here, FevFev is doing an attack to one of the JK, the JK parry but lose/almost lose his balance. Now that is some action . Also figure out how to assign muscles and expression on the 3d program so yay! Let's get back to black and white, lighting composition then! Now this looks like a better action! Coloring the background, giving it the basic mood. Mol Rehan is related with the color red and yellow so I'm thinking why not the fabulous red sunset? Linearting the new characters, so the details can be put in. Coloring behind the lineart. The whole lighting still difficult even with the black and white version earlier. I eliminate the lineart and then start working out details on the foreground (rocks and stuffs). Polished a bit of the sky and ocean here and there. Detailed the landmass on the background too. Added JK logo on the tabard, put on the soft-cotton texture on the tabards and scales texture on the armors. A feedback point out that the black drake guy looks off.. so I realize the angle doesn't feels right because the lighting is wrong...Decided to fiddle with daz3d again.. gave the models some lighting.. still confused on how to use this lighting thing so I just get one that I like and use it... this one looks solid! From there it just a bit changing of the light and dark part of the characters. Also found out that the output I produce is not looking the same like what I draw in photoshop, until I figure out I have to convert to sRGB. Also my +50 gamma monitor also probably make things looks brighter to me than others. So this part mostly (frustatingly) fiddling with settings and image-wide brightness adjustment. Most players are mistaken thinking that Chaos is one constant killing and plundering, fighting for your life 24/7. You couldnt be more wrong there. Maybe just 30% of all kingdoms population are able to fight / skilled for it. We have lots of peaceful and friendly folks all around, JK or MR, doesnt matter. Both kingdoms have their Knights who have found their passion in mastering Art of the War, as well as large number of crafters, builders, farmers and what else not. None kingdom can function without support of non-fighter player group. Even couple good masons can hold of 3 times larger attacking force just repairing their town walls, everyone have theirs own unique role in the kingdom. Do not be misled by rumors, you do not need to be Master at arms to play on chaos, to be a part of a kingdom. Kingdom is built by its People, and it wont stand on its own just with Fighters alone! We welcome any sort of players to give it a try and join our Kingdom, our community, our Family. You cant truly learn all the magic which this game have to offer You, if You haven't tried to be a part of a Kingdom. Be something else, be Someone else. Strive for new goals in this world we call Wurm.
