There are many items in the game that look the same no matter what the quality. For decoration items, this means that the quality doesn't matter so people can make a 1ql version for it to look the same as a 99ql version. I am suggesting 4 versions of items for certain things like tables, chairs, banners, fountains, statues, and fences. Each of these versions has a different appearence. As it says in the title, the categories would be crude, nice, and fancy. Curde items could be made from the start (we already have crude fences), but you would need to be at least level 50 to make average versions of items. Nice versions of the items would be unlocked at level 70 and Fancy versions would be unlocked at level 90. If this was implmented, there would be a new market for things like fancy tables and chairs. Maybe it could be possible to upgrade an item to a higher version of it, or maybe you would be required to deolish it and start again. Or maybe the model of the item would change as you imp it. I just think it would be wierd if a fancy table would turn into a nice table as it decayed.

I would rather see new things all together rather then filling up the graphics pack with prettier versions of what we already have.

This was taken from the Kellon College in Rockingfjord. It was written some time before the Ageless. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mol-Rehan is the mightiest of all houses. No other has more tales and legends to brag of, for it is the oldest in existance, and the oldest of our plain. It was formed in the middle of the bronze age when the rival clans of Mol and Rehan decided to combine into one when they were being attacked by the Morrs, a clan lead by Daren the Violent. The union was originally going to be temporary, but after the war it seemed to be impossible for the clans to separate. The chieftans of both clans had died during the war, so it was decided to appoint a new leader from the families to rule. The warrior Johen King was appointed to be the first chieftan of Mol-Rehan since he showed true bravery during the war. His reign became famous, an his last name became the common name for rulers in the surrounding expanse. The kingdom entered a prosperous age, becoming the center of all transactions. Many heros rose and fell, but the greatest hero of Mol-Rehan by far is King Magranon. He fought with a large hammer and sword in each hand. Each of these weapons would have to be held with two hands for by a normal man. There was no man that had beaten him in a spar or duel. He continued fighting and hunting with his own strength, even after he grew past his prime and his hair decayed to white. Warriors of such strenght are only born when they are needed. On year sixty-one of his reign, a rumor spread of an unusually large dragon. It was sleeping in a cave, far back in the dark wastes of Provectus. A price was soon set for the dragons head for 20 gold coins. Sir Martel the Slayer and his small army jumped on this offer, eager to prove that they can handle any situation. They traveled to the black isle, and marched to the beasts lair. The beast they found was larger than expected, but this only encouraged Sir Martel to strike. He clashed his sword on his shield, waking the beast into a state of confusion. The dragon crawled over and looked at the humans closely. At the sight of Sir Martel's armor, made of the dragons he had previously slayed, the beast became enrged. The humans realized at this moment that the beast in front of them was not like other dragons. Not only was it larger tha any dragon they had ever seen, but it possessed an inteligence unmatachable to any of the animal-like beasts they had fought before. It blew fire hot enough to burn through drake, killing Martel and all of his men but one, who escaped and ran to tell the tale of what had happened. It wasn't long after this that the dragon rose into the sky for the first time in 4 million years. It roared to the horizons a loud and echoing sound that could be heard well past the coast of the mainland. The sound was powerful enough to deafen many people on the island. Dragons, who have an acute sense of hearing, could hear this sound from all edges of the world. Dragons were seen flying high from the oceans, coming from lands not yet reached. Many cities and towns were frightened by them, but they did not stop. They flew in a strait line towards were they had heard their master call. In a few crossings of the sun, the sky above Provectus was darkened by both the smoke from the mountains and the dragons who had reached their goal. After another deafening roar from the master, the dragons went out to kill the ones that opposed them. The dragons swept over kingdom after kingdom, burning each village to the ground. No slayer could stand up to a force of this size and strength. Word quickly spread that the end of time was coming, and that it was spreading in the form of a flying cloud of unstoppable armored beasts. The greatest warriors and scholars of the time gathered in the Palace of Fire in the Eternal City of Fire and Sand. Magranon accepted his guests into his kingdom. At this table was Vynora the Knowledgeable, Libila the Powerful, and Fo the Caring. The council soon learned of the link to this conflict with the terrible sleeping dragon discovered on Provectus. Magranon, Vynora, Libila and Fo left to where the beast was said to be resting. When they reached the beast, it spoke and told the humans its name. They were to call it "Wurm", which is also the very name of the land itself. The land was his, and the dragons are his people. After the birth of the world he was given the position of ruler and deliminator of all life. He was told to be watchful, and that his position of power relied on his perseverance. After many ages of watching over his land, he became bored. Jackal spoke to him, and told him that he should rest. The Wurm agreed and found a cave to sleep in. On the day that he was woken, he realized that his people were being killed while he was sleeping. It was now his goal to kill the new kings of the world, and to reclaim his throne. He asked who are the kings who wish to challenge him, and the four replied "they are us." The four fought the dragon and brought it down. Before the final swing was made by Magranon's sword, the beast flew high into the sky. It shrank as it went up until nothing left of it could be seen. Above was Valrie, its destination and place of exile. The dragons became confused and began to fly back to their domains. The four were then met by a nymph, who offered them cherries from the tree of Walnut. These are the most important stories of Mol-Rehan. May the kingdom prosper, and Magranon guide us! >http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cxCeO9gowb8

How about a nice /villageinvite <name> so we can bring people in without having to have them 1 tile away? Put a 30 minute cooldown in it to cut spamming.

The review is fair. For me the thing that i hear from new players over and over and over is 1. Getting started sucks. Even with help 2. Unless someone reaches out to them getting started is often lonely. This is compounded by noob phobia 3. The game across the pc spectrum runs mediocre to poor especially post 1.0 4. The tutorial has little value on the ground.

Allow priests to enchant papyrus sheets with any enchant. Anyone can use these sheets or scrolls to consume them and transfer the enchantment on the sheet to an item of their choice. Quality of the enchant is limited by the quality of the scroll. I stole this shamelessly from WoW enchant scrolls.

It is the action of greifing deeds and players not the frequency. Griefing deeds on PvE servers has been proved as a bad ideas on numerous occasions. Your opinions about what will happen are not guaranteed to happen. So its ok to implement mechanics that have indisputably been proven as undesirable by the majority of PvE players as long as we only impose this grief on a small number of players? Please explain to me why the dragon can't be non-aggro on freedom? This option makes everyone happy (excluding those who like to impose their wills on others), why not do it? The dragons hunters can have fun fighting the beast, adventures can peacefully admire it, and those who don't care (me) can ignore it.

You can trade them to another player if inside a container - i.e. make a satchel or small chest or something, put it in that, and trade it to someone.

What's PCGamer? <- that's the correct response by any self-respecting gamer. Might as well ask the i can haz cheeseburger cat to review the game. I personally don't listen to reviewers anyways, I'll watch gameplay videos on footage and I'll check twitch for streamers. What's the point of listening to some dudes opinion of the game, it's probably not what you'll think and it might even influence how much you enjoy the game yourself so what's the point? Nvm, I know what the point is, people continuously feel the need for affirmation from other people that they're opinion is valid, it's the reason game reviewers exist and it's pretty much the reason I'm posting this as well. Good day sirs!

Disaster! Last week an enormous explosion occurred somewhere around the South-West region of Celebration. Hours after the blast, aftershocks could still be felt for some miles away, frightening most of the citizens who thought Wurmagedden had arrived. Even now smoke is billowing into the sky from a landmass in the area affectionately known as "The Dark Island". Buildings there seem to have been completely obliterated, yet the wildlife remains unharmed. The cause of the explosion is being investigated by authourities... however, the Wunion has gotten to the bottom of the story. It just so happens the luxury caravel "Carlotta" was cruising by the island at the moment the explosion began. Passengers on deck said they witnessed two people there who appeared to be arguing about something. One of which, Fatboy, who's tremendous eating exploits are known world wide, was visiting the island. The other person was renowned cheese alchemist, Docterchese, whose experiments border on the insane. Moments after the two parted ways, the massive eruption occurred. Debris from the blast splattered the ship as it passed. We visited the port where the caravel was docked and got a sample of the "gunk" so we could have it analyzed by a specialist. The report, bizarre as it seems, claims it's mostly a combination of woad, cheese, coal, and belladonna, with a few other unknown ingredients blended in. This asks the question... Has Docterchese come up with a secret recipe for a new explosive blue cheese? What other crazy experiments are happening on this island? And finally, how does this product taste on a cracker?

It recently got a good explanation that seem to hit the mark pretty well: Every now and then you get a "window of opportunity". if you start an action during that window it get's marked with the drumroll and the circle. If you succeed with that action the item will always turn more rare, if you fail it will not. No one seems to know how often those windows happen, but it's likely that that ominous "50% an hour" statement refers to the appearance of these windows. Whatever it was supposed to be exactly, I wouldn't be surprised if Rolf doesn't even know himself if it actually works that way. Anyway it's at least set up in way that the rng can produce 3 chances within an hour or five hours without a single chance. It's not clear how long these windows are, but there is a deed bonus that extends it for a few seconds. If seconds matter that means that your chance of hitting a rare window is higher when you do lots of quick actions. That is for normal actions, however when you do an action that uses up a rare, such as creation, combining, or the last improving action, there is an additional chance to turn the resulting item rare. The chances for improving are probably always the same, but it's likely that the chances for creation and combining vary depending on the ratio of rare to non rare material.

50s is for a trader, a merchant is 10s - just in case that influences your decision at all. You can also advertise in the forums for your items for sale. Get a good reputation on server, which is far more important than anything else imo. Get people to know you and your wares.

Keep in mind that those are impressions of a person who launched the game "to try and see". There is a specific "essence" or "gameplay" of Wurm, which you need to discover to love it (and eventually become addicted), but this is hidden beyond layers of right-click menus, bugs, and performance problems. I found Wurm one day while looking for "some new game to play", I was running one game after another... and if Wurm was then working as poorly as it does now (performance-wise), I would simply close it, delete and forget.

The review was made by someone that clearly is not into sandbox games. Usually games are reviewed by people who enjoy that particular genre of games. There is really no need to change much in Wurm, except what is already being worked on: new UI, optimize new animations/graphics/multi story code, keep expanding with more options for players to be creative (within certain limits please).

I'm not one of the GM's that has seen the situation, but from what you've said, it sounds like you fell down a drop shaft, created when one mine crosses another at a significant height difference. GM's help out when a player is trapped by a bug. The above situation is not a bug, hence they would not teleport you out. Wurm is not a game where your hand is held and you're coaxed along gently. I have refused many people the same assistance, and some have been carrying equipment consderably more valuable that you have mentioned (drake sets and in one case considerably more silver). In the past there have been bugged dropshafts, created by tunneling creatures, which we have helped people out of, but evidently this case is not one of them as evidenced by the fact that two GMs have explained that they won't help. Thread cosed as this is not the place to air your grievances. Contact Enki or Oracle with a forum PM if you feel you have been treated wrongly. Edit: I was curious, so I popped on to have a look. Perfectly normal dropshafts. Admittedly that mine is a bit of a mess, but theres no bug there. You're also not at water level and you've tried to make your situation sound worse than it is.

I think a server like this would be great. It would also be a great area to test things like goblin and troll villages, something I belive Rolf eventually wants to add to the game. Just imagine a server full of wilderness with several big goblin/troll tribes that would take entire groups of players to take out. Probably with troll and goblin king mobs as the leaders of each of those tribes. They would of course respawn every now and then and the longer they exist the stronger they become. It's stuff like that that Wurm is currently missing, adding it would greatly improve the PvE side of the game but adding tribes like that is really hard on servers that have a ton of deeds (especially considering how densly populated many of them are), while servers of pure wilderness would be absolutely perfect for it.

If something like this is done, I'd like to see it along the lines of what Canoe Sandie suggested in another thread. Include Dragons. You could also increase the spawn of things that scare Roman , as they would likely scare/challenge most people! I'd rather see it be sailed to rather than a portal. I just like the more organic nature of packing one's boat and heading out for an adventure. I'd really like to not see roads on this type of server. It would be nice to keep it completely nature's domain. I don't know why I have such a strange aversion to roads . In terms of monetizing it, if it keeps the interest of older players then it would have monetary value (I think). GV has no deeds, but serves the financial purpose of introducing people to the game in an effort to keep them. This would be like GV but at the other end of the spectrum. Premium only would be a good idea if only to limit the number of storage alts people might bring along. If a new player wants to tag along and see the crazy monstrous land... not sure. Guess they could perhaps premium for one month and maybe they'll choose to keep it. I wouldn't attach it to Independence as that is pretty far to the north for most servers. I'd feel a bit biased to suggest east of Deli, since I live on Deli and can access the east pretty easily. I'm really tempted to say west of Chaos. Would a freedomer be able to cross the Chaos ocean safely so long as they don't attempt to dock somewhere? The benefit of this would be increased traffic past Chaos. It would increase trade as people go by. It might encourage some freedom dwellers to stop by the coast and meet some of the barbari... err, pvpers . It would give a chance for the Chaotic to hone their fighting skill without necessarily risking losing everything they have on them, which might be welcomed by newer players. Those from Chaos with very high fight skill might even want to lead/guide expeditions on these dangerous lands. I would then, whenever is the appropriate time this century, connect Pristine to the south of this new hunting server. By then it might be time for a new freedom server which I would attach east of Release, west of Celebration, connecting those two servers. Edit: Also, might increase the value of large ships that can carry the needed number of people, and with no storage alts the larger cargo capacity make be very useful?
