Our Rolf who art in Sweden, hallowed be thy name. More coding to come, thy bridge be done; on Epic as it is in Freedom. Give us this day more marble mines, and forgive us our poor terraforming, as we forgive those who drop deeds on clay. And lead us not into Affliction, but deliver us from Libila. For thine is the kingdom of Java, Forever and ever amen.

Re-encoded video with some minor changes and re-uploading video in higher-resolution and better codec settings. Hopefully youtube doesn't muck around with the quality too much this time. Will update thread once fully uploaded and ready.

Ok idea is simple... now we can make more floors also more rooms in our MS house... but for biger houses i wil suggest that rolf allow us to make sort of inner doors witch can be locked with key, mybe for start just enable us to build fance gates as inner walls... Why will this be good for us.... sometimes u must have more ppl. on guest list, your sister live with u in same house or u get someone to visit you and u dont wana show some rooms in house... so even if player is on guest list he cant pass fance gates without key. Em rolf mybe will not like it... but is nice way to make more flats in one big house... so more ppl can live in same house and use rooms for witch have key or there is no key needed..... still ppl who use house need to be on guest list to pick up items or move it. Also will be usefull for Hotel, bank, difrent public places, indoor markets... I see that idea very inportend for wurm!

I know its been brought up in the past but it can use more highlighting. Please can we fix the issue with tower guards going down into caves and refusing to come out and help anyone above ground again. Once secluded in their underground lair of laziness and sloth those worthless guards wont do anything while preventing more above ground and useful guards from spawning at their tower until someone punishes the lazy subterranean guards with slaughter. While executing the lazy guards will spawn new topside ones they likely will eventually slink into a cave again and become useless again in time. This renders entire chunks of a guard tower network worthless because so many of its guards are underground doing who knows what and thus refusing to assist or answer calls for help.

I'd like there to be an easy available, smooth, way of reporting a bug while ingame. I don't always browse the forums while playing and afterwards I might forget it altogether, or forget important details regarding it. What I'd like to see is a form you fill in, accessed via the escape menu and a console command. Something that involves important elements when reporting a bug, like: - Client version - Time of bug occurrence - What you were doing when the bug occurred - If you are above/below ground - What you did to solve it (if possible, for example how you got unstuck if you ended up inside a house wall etc) and various other things that are useful to know.

Since it does go into details on how to place, use, and maintain the trader, maybe it needs to be moved over to the Guides list now?

Eh. According to what's on the wiki for official backstory it's pathetic. We really need to get some people to work on it because I do agree that it's player driven and created. If you're speaking more abstractly and saying that events that happen in-game and all such as dragon slayings, impalongs, festivals, etc count as lore then by all means include it but it really isn't much of a lore.
  11. 2 points
Wurm lore is extensive and almost entirely player driven/created.

I am always happy to see when a macroer (or botter) gets caught and banned . Players that feel the need to do either should really not bother playing in my opinion. The Rules are quite clearly written on it , and as mentioned it also does cover macros in the tutorial so saying " you didn't know " really doesn't work and is no excuse at all. Most games i know will outright ban for macro's or bots being used when the player gets caught , and i have only ever come across 1 or 2 games that openly allow them ( not going to name the games here ). While you may think there is no harm in using your repeat function on a G15 ( or what-ever you used) , it gives an unfair advantage to you over players who don't have £50+ to drop on a keyboard or who don't know how to use macro programs etc , which is why Rolf is so against them. I myself have a G15 and have never even considered using its macro function to repeat actions while i did something else, because i get my enjoyment from actually playing a game i pay for myself, not have some automated system doing it. Hopefully this will act as a warning for others who may consider doing the same. Bottom line is , you will get caught out at some point.

Let me try that again to make it easier for you to understand. When erryone quit and is just u and ur bros left to play alone and make house like freedom server wat u do?

I like the idea but would prefer mine door type permissions instead. I don't want more keys, already need a proper key ring.
  17. 2 points
How about use the regular door lock and instead you could have separate permissions for each door within the house? Although it might be hard to separate the overall house settings vs. inner ones. But would really help with Inns and such. Also would allow big storage houses for a whole village but only allow people access to certain parts to keep them from snooping into say higher ql materials that they shouldn't. Overall +1

This is a community hunt, the purpose is to bring people together to engage in something fun and rewarding.. We don't need your little band of pr0z to simply wipe the poor guy out and rob everyone else of the chance, especially those who have never fought a unique, to experience the thrill and earn a title.

The Wurm download is 0% free, so the same thing would happen to Wurm that happens to all Steam games that's been through enough sales: - The annoying pranksters that plague cheap games would mass invade While player influx in general is good for a game this would have potential of destroying it. I love Left4Dead 1&2 but it's impossible nowadays to play them online unless you have friends to play with. They've been on many Steam sales and as soon as a game becomes cheap enough people who aren't actually interested in the game shows up to grief others. Wurm's staying out of harm's way by not being easily accessible on a social platform like Steam.

A solution to all your roof clipping problem would be making Pitched and Lean on Roofs like showed in this image. Making planning a roof split into two options: pitched roof or hip roof. Hip roofing will work as it dose now. Pitched roofs will however align themselves to lean on walls this becoming lean-on roofs. (Case of 1 roof tile surrounded by 1 to 3 walls) Or they will automatically align depending on the order you build them on plain houses. So if you have a 3x3, you plan a roof one a corner tile and when planning the other roof on the next tile the pitched roof will be created between those two tiles and continue when adding the 3'rd tile in the line. Edit1: A pitched roof on one tile not surrounded by any walls will become a gable roof. You can not plan pitched roofs on 1 tile houses. So this will apply to 1xN tile houses. Edit2: It is possible to make a leaned on roof on 2 tiles by leaning the first on a wall then building another lean on roof above that level.

Hey, i hope there isnt any other post like this one or i just made another. It would be nice if you could make mechanics in wurm. Like, you need to make gears, then put them on shafts or wooden nails, that are attached to power source(could be water wheels, levers, buttons, pressure plates or something) then when they are combined they create machines, like clocks, traps or even some more advanced machines that can make you move around or do things instead of you for example you should manually need to pull lever to produce string or cloth from loom, you would have screwdriver to change material that loom needs to create or other machine. Also ropes could be used to attach to wheel, that is powered to something and could move some heavy things, like statues or something. Materials could be like this - Wood(weakest), stone(weak), iron(normal), steel(strong), silver, copper(normal). There could be skill Mechanic for this or Engineer. Power source could be Wind for Windmills or Water for Water wheels or some more things that can make water/wind into power, there could be used Animal power, like you attach Bear or bison to go to circle with shaft attached to them and other side has gear that powers it machine. Also you could like press lever and it release water, it flows under gate and fills(water pressure used for stone gates) making it close gate, when pulling other lever it flows water out of below of gate, making it open. There would be Snow in hight mountains, where snow melts there are small water streams, connecting each to other they make rivers. Flowing water can be used for water wheels. Water also could come out from underground water streams at some places, making another small streams that flow into rivers. Every machine part would need to be repaired after time. If its automated machine then it should take about 1 damage per 10 mins if it is from wood when using it. I hope you get idea. If no i can describe more. Pictures: Animal powered mill example:

The whispering has started again. You may have heard of Mad Lady Arysh before. She used to live on Celebration, at Castle Falkenstein. She was a devote follower of Fo, and her life was one of bloodshed and death although very few ever knew that side of her. Time passed and the lady went missing. Rumors that she had forsaken her faith of Fo turned out not to be rumors after all, but fact. Some reported seeing her on Independence, others swore they heard her singing in the oceans of Chaos. I'm here to dispel the rumors, and continue with her story. I know where she is. Where she wanders. At night her lantern bobs up and down as she walks along the farm fields with a rake in hand, searching for something. Once in a while she lets out a shriek of laughter that sends shivers up the back of my neck. Her green clothing is matted with blood and she refuses to change them or wash them. She does not say Fo's name at all but instead she murmurs to Vynora. I've been trying to catch snippets of conversation but the second she realizes I'm listening she freezes like a deer in headlights. It's something I'll have to work on, to gain her trust. She paces inside the fenced walls of Mystic Cove on Deliverance, and even though I've told her she is free to step outside the boundaries of the walls she seems reluctant. I shall have to try harder. (OOC: More to come in future posts)

We need some bundles so I can sell nails and such effectively on personal merchants. A bundle would be made using one piece of paper or string + one of the item to be bundled, then completed as mentioned below. A bundle would have one option on right click -> unwrap, which would give the enclosed items The ql of the bundle would determine the ql of the unwrapped goods, limited to the lowest QL used other than the paper. No real need for a new icon, could just look like the appropriate pile Example bundles I want: Bundle of small nails -> make with paper on a small nail, requires 19 small nails to finish -> unwrap to get 20 small nails bundle of large nails -> make with paper on a large nail, requires 19 large nails to finish -> unwrap to get 20 large nails big bundle of small/large nails -> same deal but 100 nails bundle of kindling -> make with string on kindling - etc etc bundle of string/cloth -> make with paper and string/cloth - etc etc bundle of shafts -> make with string on shafts - etc etc bundle of planks -> make with string on planks - etc etc Basically only bsb'able items of relatively small size. This would really help personal merchants.

You're welcome bwg, glad to see this forum is helping. I'm not sure a list is needed, some people like their privacy. As far as vetting for an account, things have been working for years the way they are. I'm from the school of thought, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it'. We've had very few incidents over the years and I will lock an account in a hot second for any complaint. Fortunately we haven't had many of those and some have been reopened after an investigation. Anyway, let's not over complicate things. I think you're all doing a great job with the Wiki and this forum so keep up the good work! For those wanting an account, I need you to send me a forum PM with your in game name for me to verify. I receive email notifies from PM's on the forum so I'm pretty quick to get them made up most of the time unless I'm not home.

The plan is something like this in my head: - be able to name doors - set individual door access (from writ or on the door if you are allowed) Hotel business can open. Watch out for mean landlords! Gotta keep this simple but practical and useful! Zcul

I'm pretty sure there are some "mechanics" that would fit into wurm as medieval times had some things, just no automatic machines
  29. 1 point
A mechanical item I would like is a "house lift" On the bottom floor you build a 1x1 platform. Each floor above, instead of a floor or a roof, you make into a lift shaft. On the top level you build the pulleys and mechanisms. You can toggle the lift on or off, it will move (slowly, jerky) between floors as long as the shaft extends through that level. You can drive on a cart or push a bed, go up a floor or two, and push it off. Besides the wood building parts, you must also craft the metal blacksmithing parts. Either iron or require brass.

I don't really think this list is all that necessary.. but if it is then explain to me why because quite a few people have a wiki account and that would automatically make them an "editor". I think if anything this should be just for those dedicated few, not people who just want their name on the list for a few things added to the wiki.

    - Background Story of Jimmy Blak - Son of a famed but retired Knight Errant, Blak has lived with his father in the woods for 16 years. During this time, he has learnt many skills, such as blacksmithing, carpentry, farming and fighting. On his 16th birthday, his father mysteriously disappeared, and left him with a hastily scrawled farewell note, a shield, and 90 copper coins. Using the 90 coins, Blak purchased an axe from Led-Mart and embarked to follow his father's footsteps.

+1 Would love this.. I plan on living above a workshop in the village I run ( more space for villagers to set up their own homes that way ) So would love to be able to lock the "back door" to people but allow all villagers to enter and use the first floor stuff.. right now I use an arch and a gate on side of buildings, with the stairs up walled from the main door. Lock gate, no one but me can get up

Let's all relax before we get heat stroke, it's 43`c in Sydney today. There's no need for anyone to get scornful or haughty. There's been a bit of misunderstanding, even in this event, none of the non-fighters jumped in for a chance at the title nor was it ever talked-about or guaranteed so this 'community hunters group' were mostly experienced fighters, most of whom had fought the kyklops before and some of which were also big hitters on wild. I reiterate, the biggest problem I think we faced was not stacking enough damage on the kyklops before it could heal up. Its healing rate really was something unpleasant and demoralising. More higher tier fighters would definitely help but we should also allow the locals and non-fighters to assist and support us in some way either by healing or just moral support because this is their home and fighting uniques is something like a milestone for a player in Wurm Online and is an experience that should be shared with everyone.

If merchants could be robbed, the raiders would simply go to the merchant square and raid that, taking all the quality items they want from those who work hard at their trade. Leave the merchants the way they are. There are already too few ways to actually protect what we spend hard-earned Silver to have in the first place. Why should the rules give even more opportunity for raiders to plunder even more? I say, BIG NO!

dewit just because people do it, and you disagree with it, doesn't mean you should lose your morales because of peer pressure and influences. if you dislike griefing, then you shouldn't grief because you yourself don't want that reputation. you listed examples that are iffy and situational, yes we messed up Florence a bit because of certain circustmances and harassment of an alt (shankiest on it), but you yourself know Mongols never griefed at our raids of New Tuscany. it's like exploiting, some choose to go out and find exploits (sadly) and abuse them, and others merely stumble upon them accidently and report them. we don't really grief anymore, and for the most part i dont even take gear anymore because i found it gets people back to pvp faster if you just leave their corpse. sorry if you think people in that thread told you to grief, all i remember posting was that you should of deeded Whitestone if you didnt want people to drop dirt all over because you had it out in piles just laying there in the wild. really though if you guys want to encourage griefing i think it'll only look bad for a server you seem to enjoy playing on, but hey i'm down for it. i guess just ask yourself if youre gonna stop a knarr+ full of JK who go and target those noobs living on coast or around whitestone when we come and build tall stone walls all over them
